Do these newsletter codes ever work? Always server error. I don't think I have ever had an emailed code that actually works.
-
A sad day. You wont be forgotten. You will forever be in the fog!

Yeah, the dev (or devs) who got assigned the "Blood Web" task, might not have been given the most exciting or glamourous task, but your work is appreciated. Intuitive to use, being able to click one of the items on the outer edge and buy the items on the path to it, as well as the single click centre button. Well done!

If this is happening to you PLEASE send us your log files to Support - or dm me them here.
As you can see from the tweet, we're not writing this off but we're asking for information from our players who say they've been affected, we can see from the log files that we're given what happened.
Log files are also encrypted so there's no problem in posting them here.
With the greatest respect, IMHO you are approaching this from completely the wrong angle asking for users to send log files. Obtaining the software the hackers are using, either by hiring external security consultants to "infiltrate" or by purchasing it from one of their websites, might prove to resolve this a darn site quicker.
Why do I say this? Last year when I was modding for a streamer who was held hostage, prior to OTZ publicising it to the point where it could not be ignored, I had a whispered conversation with a hacker who came to gloat.... He was able to give the IP address that the streamer was using. He claimed that the software he was using to "insert" himself into a lobby with the streamer was able to show various information about people in the lobby including MMR and IP address.
-
I've just experienced this as well. Got completely stuck, didn't load the next bloodweb and then the "Bloodweb Error: An error has occurred while updating your Bloodweb" and need to re-initialize.

That's cold, even for a guy like me
Why is it cold? I don't understand. I never would have encouraged people to try the game if I had known that MMR is a complete joke for new players and they are just going to be used to fill experienced killer lobbies.
-
I'm not sure you are understanding what the problem is @Seraphor
They are not having chases, stunning the killer, making rescue plays. They are not even spending enough time in the games to start learning the maps, before they are slugged and bleeding out. I have never seen more one-sided play.
This isn't a complaint about soloQ. It's a complaint that people who are being encouraged to play this game with a "free" weekend are being thrown into lobbies with experienced killers (and in the case of that 1200 hour killer I mentioned earlier - very experienced killers) who are just stomping them in a minute of play. It can't be fun for either side. The game needs new blood. A lot of people have left, people I used to play with. The new RE chapter helped. This free weekend should have helped too, but I don't think many people will stick around with the kind of matchmaking they are being shown.

Again, this is a player issue, and maybe a generational one too. It's all immediate gratification. Press button to win.
I don't believe that to be the case. My nephew isn't a "press button to win" player. He will grind to get better. But he's only going to grind to get better if he is having some fun while doing it. Make the whole expereince as unfun as it has been for him this weekend and what is the incentive to even want to play the game if you can't enjoy it while you "git gud"?
-
@Seraphor Well, I do call it a game issue. And if the point of the free weekend is to get more people playing to cut down on queue times..... It's a FAIL, because these new players are having such a horrid time that they are not going to carry on playing it. So great, reduced the queue times for the veterans this weekend, but none of these new players (that spent this weekend being cannon fodder) are going to stick around to reduce the queue times next week, or the week after..... Remind me again how VHS died? ;)
-
@Seraphor with the greatest of respect, telling new players that the only way they are going to get a fair game, is by playing against their complete beginner friends in a custom game? And BTW, although this weekend is the free weekend, if you wait a month or two you'll be able to play with bots......
I suspect that matchmaking is completly skewed to minimise queue times, to the point where any killer who has been waiting long enough, and one of these survivor "noobs" presses the ready button..... they are just going to get thrown into that game, regardless of their MMR, skill, or playtime. That is a game issue, not a player issue! They would have been prepared to have longer lobby times for a "fairer" game.
-
Escape every time? LOL They are not escaping at all! Losing is fine, if it is losing a fair match! They have no issue with that. Putting them against people with skill and experience, which makes for a completely one-sided game, and then telling them to get used to it, "someone has to" lose, and they should "learn how to lose". Anyway, I learned my lesson and wont make the same mistake again.
-
@Seraphor said:
In order for new players to be matched with other new players, there has to be other new players to match with.
The age of the game, player retention rates, new player growth rates, etc. simply don't allow for that to be a significant number. Any new player will eventually become a regular/veteran player if they play enough.
If they play enough? That's the point. They won't become regular/veterans if this is their experience of the game. If that is there introduction to the game they are not going to carry on playing it. To quote my nephew, "It's just not fun to play", when I asked him why he wasn't going to play anymore.
-
Guys, this isn't an occasional game, or "matchmaking is going to have a tougher time". This is every game! They are facing experienced killers. I just watched one of them, (streaming to Discord), playing killer and they are facing experienced survivors who know how to loop a tile. This is ridiculous! The whole point of a free period is to try and get more people playing the game. Throwing them in as "cannon fodder" to keep the queue times lower for experienced players..... well, I don't have the words for the stupidity of it. My nephew and his friend have given up playing.

This is beyond funny! I switch to playing killer. Let's go with Pig, maybe ppl won't DC, right? WRONG! 2 people DC. Then, in the end game chat one of the DC's threatens to report me and the Mikaela and wants me banned because AFTER he DC'd, I let her finish a gen out of pity because the second person has also DC'd while she was doing the gen...... Hatch appears and I don't stop her leaving through it. Man, this game is crazy!
-
My first game of the day..... 5 seconds in, and the nurse blinks, so of course one of my soloQ teammates DC's. I mean, why wouldn't you when there is no DC penalty. Killer chose to farm.... Sure I can do that. (Just not every game. I actually want to play the game, even against a nurse!) But at least killer and the survs left with 50k+ BP each. The DC penalty being off sucks more than an occasional crash. An occasional crash, (I had 2 in 40 games), is a hell of a lot better then 3 out of every 4 soloQ games, trashed by a DC before a single gen is done!
-
The DC penalty needs to be turned back on. My last 3 games, each game 2-3 people have DC'd!

I don't mind the dying part. It's dying so someone can get a crappy t-shirt cosmetic, when there was no need for me to die, especially while I looped killer for 3 mins giving them time to collect the "energy", only to be left to die on first hook for my efforts. That sucks!
-
Twice out of 3 games since the event started, I was left on the first hook to die, while 2 ppl sat on gens.

The point I am making is that it was never advertised that you would get anything beyond a bonus for P1, P2, and P3. (Plus the other bonuses for perks.)
I prestiged a bunch of characters the night before 6.1.0. With the benefit of hindsight I should have left them at P0L50. Am I going to get retroactively compensated for the perks/add-ons/items I lost.... It appears if I had waited, I could have had my cake and eaten it.
The whole point of getting a bonus for each level of prestige obtained prior to 6.1.0, was to compensate for the loss of blood points (add-ons/items/perks) you lost by prestiging. Wasn't it the case that prior to 6.1.0, anyone on P3L50, was forever on a level 50 blood web. there was no loss to be compensated for, because there wasn't a P4, and there wasn't a loss of add-ons/items/perks, by prestiging from P3 to P4. Anyone on P3L50 received a bonus for their P1,P2, and P3.

The maximum level of prestige is 100 though, why wouldn't I like to have a boost like everyone else?
What's the point of NOT giving the bonus level to people who were P3?
You did get the bonus for being P3. The maximum prestige before the update was 3. If you were P3L50 before the update, you got the bonus for each of your prestige levels, 1, 2 and 3. There wasn't a bonus for being P4 - there wasn't a P4 before the update. So it doesn't make sense why you would get a retroactive extra bonus now, for being P3 LVL50. ie. nearly P4 before the update. There was no P4 before the update, and no bonus for being P4!
-
"They even SPECIFICALLY left out people who had their character to P3 level 50."
You are missing the point I think. Why would their be a boost for P3L50? You already got P9 for them. The whole point was +2 bonus P for each of the *****old 3 levels***** of prestige!
-
Not sure how welcome this "news" is going to be to those being taken hostage....
- Prevent sniping into players lobbies, "first version of this fix is currently slated for this fall".
- Preventing cheaters from holding players hostage, "this particular change is planned for this Q4 2022".
In the meantime, players/streamers will continue to be sniped by their cloudId, and held hostage for 2 hours.

its not split

Last time I checked Dublin (eu-west-1) is in the Republic of Ireland and not a part of the UK.
-
I'm not sure the "British servers" that people keep talking about are actually in the UK. I've not looked recently, but it used to be that the most people in the UK got the lowest ping to, and were thus automatically connected to AWS Dublin.Although for me, quite often the ping to Frankfurt was just as low, and I would have a 1 in 4 chance of being connected to Frankfurt without using a VPN.
Like I said, unless it has changed, DBD was using AWS eu-west-1 (Dublin) servers, not eu-west-2 (London) for UK/Ireland. And eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) for rest of Europe.
-
Just VPN to Frankfurt if you want to be on EU server.

People watch fog whisperers. I see no issue here.
You don't see an issue with BHVR deliberately directing the hackers to target streamers who are not Fog Whisperers, by their decison that only Fog Whisperers cannot be held hostage - other streamers, big and small still have to choose between being held hostage and DC penalties? You realise there are streamers not in the Fog Whisperer programme, who have audiences larger than Fog Whisperers?
-
@ScottJund said:
i genuinely don't see a problem with this whatsoever. Fog Whisperers get special treatment because they are special. they are meant to positively represent the game and cannot do that if they cannot play the game. like from a business standpoint its pretty cut and dry. i think people are channeling frustration at completely the wrong thing and should be focused on making anti-cheat do anything than hating on streamers
This smacks of trying to sweep negative publicity under the carpet by "minimising" the hacking problem rather than actually doing something pro-active about it. As long as a Fog Whisperer is not seen to be sitting there being held hostage, rather than take a DC timeout, all is good with the world? The problem being, (and I'm nhot going to name names), but it is pretty obvious without needing a degree in rocket science, that if these hackers can't target Fog Whisperers, they are going to re-double their efforts on bigger streamers, not currently in the Fog Whisperer program, some of whom for the past week have been taken hostage several times per night..... BHVR are actually choosing who the hackers will now concentrate on, whether they realise it or not. It's going to result in negative publicity, one way or the other. Fixing the hacking problem and fixing it quickly is what is needed, not band aids that only apply to the chosen few "ambassadors".
PS. Isn't it ironic, that to positively represent the game, it needs to be falsely represented, by the very people chosaen to represent it, by not showing how out of control the hacking problem is? ;)
-
@Malkraz said:
Is anybody really surprised only BHVR's best little shills are given the privilege of not having their experience completely ruined by a rampant hacker problem that they're basically doing nothing about
I'm just surprised BHVR chose to go down this path of "protecting" some streamers, when it's pretty obvious what is going to happen to those who don't have the same protection.

I am also confused by people's statements that cheaters are "targeting" Fog Whisperers and content creators. Are we sure this can even happen the way the lobby system is set up?
I think the best answer so far is for BHVR to step up their anti-cheat sub-system instead of forcing players to get punished for legitimate non-malicious disconnects.
If I get a cheater holding me hostage, which is very very rare, I just go AFK and do something else. However, I have zero people following me so I feel for streamers who get stuck in those situations.
I tried to reply to an earlier statement that someone made about not being able to target. (I'm not sure whay it did not appear in the thread.... moderation settings????) What was explained to me last night, by a streamer who had spoken to one of the cheaters, they are using some kind of software which doesn't 100% guarantee getting into a specific streamers lobby, but it makes it more likely.
-
I'd be very surprised if this is fact. I hope Tru3 is wrong. I can't believe BHVR would have one rule that applies to everyone but the people they decide it doesn't apply to. The current hacker pandemic is not just affecting streamers with a Fog Whisperer badge. I watch hexy get targetted night after night, and Lilith and CMWinter and SpooknJukes..... Would be crazy for otz and friends to be able to disconnect and not face a penalty, but force others with viewerships in the 1000's (eg. hexy) to have to wait it out when they get taken hostage, or face a penalty.

out of curiosity, why 105 and not ex. 100 hmm? Is 105 someone's recommendation?
105 is the highest number I can run without rubberbanding. I used to be able to set it to 144 (nVidia G-SYNC monitor) without rubberbanding. Once the rubberbanding started, any number above 105, or leaving it at the default 60FPS..... I get the dreaded rubberbanding.
-
@Remedicist said:
I believe lowering it to 105 works as well. At least for me personally, the rubberbanding stops at a limit of 105 or lower.
Me too, 105 is the magic number! Any higher and the rubber-banding is back.

Unpopular opinion but who cares what prestige level you're on other than hitting P3 to unlock all perks. It's just bragging rights and has no impact on the game itself.
The 'it's unfair!' and 'I've played longer so I'm entitled to this...' comments just sound pathetic imo. People will always find something to complain about 🙄
There's the rub.... It's beginning to seem like a lot of people playing this game aren't so much interested in playing the game.... they are more interested in "bragging rights"..... whatever they are. I don't get it either.

I don't think they mean "fun to listen to them" but it's "fun to annoy the killer" because the normal gameplay is "boring" after a while.
Aka a ######### reason to keep it in the game.
Because it is "fun" for some people to annoy others, is the reason it should be kept in the game? OK. Makes perfect sense! (NOT)
