We want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year – may your games be full of snowballs!
Thank you all for being with us through this last year, we’re excited about what 2024 has in store for us all.
Be safe, be well!
The Dead by Daylight Team
no its not a happy new year. dbd is still miserable to play as survivor and killer is nothing but stress stress stress. Unbalanced maps and stale metas followed by game bugs. I dont see how 2024 will be as good as this year or the year before?

Survivors rarely or never miss a skill check which also accounts for gen rushing

Q: Can you provide clarity about the infamous black bubble which appears over props like gens and hooks? This black bubble temporarily obstructs aura reading from perks like Kindred and Bitter Murmur. Both perks lose immediate value until the sphere overlay dissipates.
Since its introduction, the community has received conflicting responses about this (un)intended behavior.
A: Infamous indeed! Though it has some disliked interplay with props and auras, the black bubble serves a purpose as it stands and we don't have current plans to address it directly, BUT... I can tell you that we have recently greenlit a rework to our aura system that we are planning to move forward with sometime soon-ish (famous last words, ha ha). It won't change the black bubble, but it should make auras better! -Mike
Seriously, this is a complete and utter horsedung. Auras such as bitter murmur worked before it overlapped the black bubble but then the black bubble suddenly overlaps the auras and they said it's an intended feature, and now they're going to make an entire rework out of thin air? Jesus christ.

There is no more money to be made with the past chapters so they're solely focusing on the new chapters.

On PC it's in the best state in over 2 1/2 years, I'd say. I'm not sure how it is on console, though.
I'm experiencing issues on my PC even though I bought a completely new one with the latest hardware a few months ago.

They did buff Coup, Claustrophobia and Furtive Chase not that long ago. Shadowborn rework is also on the way.
I'm probably missing a few, these are just from the top of my head.
It took them literal years to change them and some of them still sucks. Either you have to use an entire build around it or suffer.

Thanks for mentioning me, I appreciate it. There can be no Freddy threads without me :)
And Freddy has a sad tale. They got him right on the very first try, but them they nerfed him for absolutely no reason, then completely reworked him (which is the one thing in DBD that I hate most), and nerfed him again.
Freddy really needs help. And I hope you don't mind, but I'll use this comment to share my idea for a Freddy change that, hopefully, everybody can enjoy. I just want to maximize the chance of BHVR seeing it and thinking: "...maybe".
It is naive, but it doesn't hurt to try. Here is what I would like to see for the Nightmare:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 50%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger
i hope freddy never returns. we asked to make drastic changes to freddy because he was insufferable to face especially when he had insane gen regressing addons and perks.

I have to be honest with you that shaking the meta kind of thing sucked all the fun out of dbd
yeah you're right about that. It's crazy how bhvr are now trying to slowly shift the meta back to what it once was.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/399534/where-is-the-killer-repeat-prevention
You sure you want that? Back when killer's could identify a swf in the lobby, swfs couldn't get any matches. You do a killer repeat prevention you'll be sitting lobby for a long time or not getting any lobbies.
@Astel said:
But putting that kind of conditions might call very long matchmaking time, especially during this kind of periods when the new killer is released.
So I should just accept that I get the same killers every time I come back from work?
I want to face huntress, spirit, oni, trapper, wraith, hillbilly, onryo, nemesis, pyramid head, pinhead, hell even skull merchant and knight I don't care anymore. I can't play this game anymore without falling asleep on my sofa.
-
@GeneralV said:
There was a build which used that perk.
It only worked with Old Doctor, and essentially you would have a gigantic Terror Radius while in Treatment Mode. Overwhelming Presence was useful for getting rid of toolboxes and flashlights.
How big was his terror radius back then compared to now?
-
It was necessary to shift the meta but I agree. What makes me scratch my head is they never bother to buff it for longer than a year.
-
If they take nerf pig literally then I have lost all hope for this game. also imagine nerfing doctor and clown
-
They should turn off it completely. This will stop survivors and killers from guessing if you're new or a pro.
-
@Deathstroke said:
Oh god no! That would make me quit the game I have tinnitus and can't stand sounds like that.
if they remove the tinnitus effect would you agree with it then?
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
They'd need to significantly rework the status effect as a whole.
How?
-
@TeleportingTurkey said:
this is that kind of perk that is better a bit weaker than it should be than otherwise.
it can be really oppressive and frustrating to deal with.
Survivors just predrop pallets, not blind or cleanse this totem.
-
@Firellius said:
I like that it can be reinstated after being cleansed though. More perks should get that.
Hex: Face the Darkness should have this condition too.
-
@Haddix said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3599623#Comment_3599623
that's not very fair at all. this perk has so many conditions for so little payoff. fix at least one of those things.
That's my thought exactly.
-
@Wexton said:
Yeah, playing this game on switch is kind of a horrible experience. The only reason why I have this game on switch is because I've already bought my fair share of cosmetics and dlcs, I don't want to lose all that.
Same here 😭
-
You should try to play dead by daylight on the Nintendo Switch I swear on my mom you will ask for a refund ASAP.
It still boggles my mind they keep selling this game on the switch it's crazy this shouldn't be allowed. The developers from mortal kombat 1 had major backlash for releasing it on switch and a few weeks later they released an update and fixed most of the major issues.
-
Killers use gen regress perks against gen rushing.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
Because it's good perk? What reason you are looking for it
It's like asking why killers are using anti-gen perks
This perk deserves a nerf then.
-
Maps are the problem.

I think if they give him a passive Madness Build-Up on top of his Static Blast, it would make it too much.
If they keep the Blast and add a separate mode like back then (which increases Madness while moving a bit slower), it would also not really be good... But also not really that useful for the Killer if they would have to move slower AND cannot attack during the different mode.
they could adjust the numbers to passive madness build up inside his terror radius, and also accounting the proximity between doctor and survivor?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3599089#Comment_3599089
Doctor was weaker during this time. And also harder to play, because you had to switch Modes when you wanted to use his Power during the chase.
The Blast is also better at applying Madness than the Static Field was.
i mean can't they add static field along with his current power or would you say that it makes doctor too oppressive?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
You seem to like the idea of a map-wide Terror Radius:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/398185/what-if-distressing-affects-the-whole-map
Still, the issues would be the same. You would need to rework every Terror Radius-related Perk on both sides to make this work.
I just want his static field back
While in Treatment Mode, The Doctor generates a Static Field within his Terror Radius, which passively increases Survivors' Madness based on their proximity to The Doctor.
-
@bornagain234 said:
People were calling for his nerf 2 hours after release...
Nerf the hell out of him and youll get complaining that you never see him, like people do with xeno, singularity etc.
Some people are truly pitiful. It's best to ignore them.
-
Give it a month or two and then check the results.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
to answer the title, most likely yeah. The technology is here now, so they'd be squandering a lot of potential if they didn't do more with it.
Killers should also be able to select what mori they want no matter what skin they use as long as they unlocked it.
@Dustin said:
Give Hunk his neckbreaker finisher for a mori.
yes please
-
I'm sorry but why would you thank Behaviour? You do remember that they made Made for This in the first place, right? But then again, they didn't leave MfT for 6 years, instead it's 6 months, like they did with Dead Hard, so at least that's a bit commendable I suppose.

To add to this, For Honor licenses (few they had) were a little more generous, and the DBD Event was so generous and awesome it to this day is considered the best event they ever had. I doubt with that effort they went "yeah you get charm only lol".
That's honestly sad if that's true.
-
The Siege collaboration skins don't look good so do you really want these skins to look just as bad in dbd?
I don't think any survivor could have a for honor skin. Knight on the other hand makes more sense.
-
@Peanits said:
We appreciate it, but if you got it when it was underpriced, you can keep it! That was our mistake, you don't need to feel bad about it.
What happened? What was the cost originally?

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/398185/what-if-distressing-affects-the-whole-map
I mean would that work with ultimate Weapon or no? starstruck would no doubt be a problem. The devs would have to change a few different perks...ehh just seem like a waste of time honestly.
If you have distressing equipped then these perks obviously become weaker. They return to normal if you remove distressing from your loadout.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
do you mean distressing would have the same effect as the old version of legion’s iridescent button add on?
yup
-
@Carth said:
It would be fun but it opens up problems like you already point out. Would coul and other TR perks balanced on the global perk or not? If you do choose to balance around it they are all bad without distressing and if you balance around 'standard' TR then it will be broken at the global scale.
The perk adjust automatically if you equip distressing so the terror radius perks still have the same effects without distressing, get it? They become weaker if you have Distressing equipped. When you have no Distressing equipped, they are the same as they are now.
-
How can you not understand?
Do you want to see Distressing have a map wide terror radius or not?
@CountOfTheFog said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3594439#Comment_3594439
Does it currently? I believe different killers have different TR so idk how to fix that if it does.
Nope it only gives a small amount of terror radius I believe 22%.
-
@CountOfTheFog said:

Would you be against Distressing having a map wide terror radius?

Good idea.

How terrible of you to abuse the killer by using your perks and items to outplay them! Everyone knows it's only the killer that's allowed to use their perks and abilities to outplay survivors, not the other way around!
Thanks for derailing my post, #########.

That's a shame. Billy was the most fun killer to play against so why complain about him. Guess they got what they wished for :/
It happened with Freddy Krueger now look at him. This happened with Spirit now look at her.

People were complaining about Nurse and Spirit but never Hillbilly. The rework was out of nowhere and I don't really recall anybody asking for it. It was so out of nowhere and the backlash from it was insane, but they still followed through for some weird reason :/ biggest tragedy in DBD history imo
They were. Back in the days, Twitter were full of Hillbilly complaints and so it was on Reddit and Dead by Daylight official forums.

Honestly Ruin would be fine as is if it wasn't a Hex
As it stands right now though, it's a incredibly fragile Perk that does almost nothing, if it had a activation condition and didn't make itself immediately obvious like, for example, Face The Darkness, OR had it's numbers buffed to what it used to be, it'd be okay
Ruin got shot in the kneecaps twice and it is honestly just depressing to watch
That's exactly my thought. If Hex: Ruin stays like this then it shouldn't be a Hex and instead should be like Mindbreaker; a passive.
-
@MB666 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/397880/was-the-hex-ruin-nerf-senseless
was overnerfed because SURVIVORS didnt wanted to adapt , the same happen when thana was buffed (WHEN MEDKITS WERE POWERFUL BTW) Alongside CoH.People were like nah 22% too strong RED BAR = BAD , even when overall value was 8 to 14 max seconds extra to a gen if survivor didnt wanted to heal. even when they could heal themself within 8 seconds using a green medkit with some basic charge perks/addons. cough cough
Pentimento is 33% and people seem happy with ithttps://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/B6CG41CEH25S/image.png
And now look at thana - the only killer viable to use it is plague which is boring as hell , because you expect that same perk on 99% of your plague matches. (AND ONCE AGAIN IS STILL 20% BUT PEOPLE ARENT CRYING NOW? I DONT UNDERSTAND SURVIVORS.)
It's a sad state of affairs.
