  • That… is wild. Surely the goal is to get the bad actor to stop queueing in during that session and to take a break from the game. So if in theory I close the game and come back 15 minutes later, it's the same in effect? It should at the very least have a fall-off. I cannot imagine a reason why, a week later, I should have to sit through a 15 minute timer.

  • They aren't going to help. A group of users including myself had a huge thread about this last year, we had a mod coordinator involved— it went absolutely nowhere. I came to the forums today to see if anyone else was still having trouble because even after a new PC and a move across the country, I'm still having the same problem. My best advice is to take a week off from the game and let your time reset. Yes, that sucks, and it's not fair, and they will not, do not care.

  • Don't touch her, she's perfect! Look what they did to Quentin :(

  • Actually now that I'm really looking at it, I just realized that the generators left UI is completely missing as well? The hook stage UI is there though.

  • I wish they would just scrap this game mode. I would much rather have chaos shuffle or 2v8 or something different instead of having this in the rotation.

  • Piggybacking here. We previously had two 100+ post threads about this problem dating back over a year. At one point, this was an acknowledged bug and was under review by the dev team. However, now the mods have closed those two threads, citing the age of the threads. And rightfully point out that whatever was causing the issue before, might not b e causing the issue now, so it's important to track those things separately. We were advised to make a new thread, so I do hope that a mod doesn't close this thread calling it a technical issue. This is a well-documented, long-lamented problem.

    image.png

For Screen Readers: The above image is a quote from Admin/Mod Jocelynbee. It reads "Thanks for reporting this issue! This thread is over a year old, and we encourage players to create a new thread so that we can track the issue more accurately. The older reports in this thread and the newer ones may be completely unrelated so it's important that we monitor them separately. We will be reaching out to the newer reports for logs and cloud IDs from this thread. Thank you!"

This happened to me a few minutes ago, again. I'm uploading my logs, and I suggest you (and anyone else who decides to report this problem) do the same so the dev team can review.

    To get your logs:

    <quote>

    1. Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" command.
    2. In the text box paste the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
    3. Click "OK" - this will open your Dead by Daylight Logs folder.
      • If it does not open the Dead by Daylight Logs folder, it may mean that when installing Dead by Daylight you chose to save your files somewhere else and will need to check there.
    4. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file and the one you will need to attach to your support ticket.

    </quote>

I sincerely hope that the dev team will take this issue seriously and not give us the brush-off as they have for the last 1.5 years.

  • We had the same thing happen just now on Midwich. I was on second hook and my teammate could not unhook me (they were fresh off their first hook). Another teammate, also with one hook state, tried to unhook me and couldn't do it. That survivor also couldn't heal my teammate, but they did have a prompt to cleanse a totem.

Just in case it's a specific hook issue, this was on the upper level of Midwich near the window vault into the 2-lane/gate area? If that makes sense.

FNAF is not an "anti-LGBT cause." You are being completely irrational about this.

And you're being pedantic. I can be more specific If you'd like! Supporting FNAF supports Scott, who has donated money to political entities who support anti-LGBT causes, and would actively like to strip us of our civic rights. There's the daisy chain for you. Please don't call me irrational for being justifiably upset about this collab.

This is exactly why I said before that no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community it will never be enough. They're not taking back their support for the lgbt community because FNAF is coming to DBD. This collab is not a statement on their views and values. Its purely business and nothing more. While I believe game developers shouldn't use their products to promote their stances on things like this, it by no means should inhibit them from putting the growth and prosperity of their business first.

I really don't think it's too much to ask for a company not to collab with someone who will pass that money on to entities that want to strip our rights. But if I'm taking notes correctly:

Supporting anti-LGBT causes and inadvertently donating to those causes is okay as long as it promotes my business. Got it.

Up to you if that's how you see it that's fine.

But I agree with Scott even in the video he shows the timeliness of his funding his first funding was to a dem who didn't act anti lgb. At the time. And when he saw she wasn't gonna win he ent t the next best thing.

Might be me but I feel like you didn't see the full video but maybe you did I can't tell.

I did watch, thank you for providing the link! I still think it gives a really good overview of the actual situation. It's less that Scott is anti-LGBT in a malicious way, but more that he'd rather throw our rights out the window to support candidates who align with his other concerns, if that makes sense? I don't think anyone is out here arguing that he hates LGBTQIA+ people, but regardless, his actions prove that at the very best he doesn't actually care and would put us in harm's way without a thought.

Before this thread get rowdy maybe this would help you understand the meats at the end but I recommend the full thing

I wrote out a whole reply to this that got eaten by an error, so I will be more succinct (and apologize if I seem frank).

This video is well-researched but ultimately ends in a bad take because the creator is a fan of the franchise and has an emotional investment. The "net good" of FNAF (providing a fandom for young people to find themselves, apparently?) does not give corporations a free pass to financially enable Scott Cawthon, who will pass on at least a portion of that money to certain politicians. These politicians have pretty exclusively worked to inhibit and harm the LGBTQIA+ community.

BHVR can do whatever they want, but it is a huge slap in the face coming on the heels of things like Light in the Fog and their recent efforts to diversify the game as a whole. FNAF is easy money and it should come as no surprise that they would take the paycheck. But I can't let them do it without calling them out, you know?

Scott has also been extremely quiet about his views/political agenda, and a LOT of people aren't aware of this stinky little secret. I would really love if this thread did get rowdy. BHVR should not get to do this freely.

It also puts Fog Whisperers in a really unfortunate spot. LGBTQIA+ FWs are going to receive the content for free, and have to showcase it on their respective channels. It's a very uncomfortable thing to know that they're going to have to "support" this chapter. BHVR shouldn't put them into this situation in the first place.

  • ((( this post originally got "eaten" by an error and popped up after the following post. Please ignore this one and delete if necessary )))

  • So we aren't going to talk about the homophobia then?

  • I want to bump this — my SWF duo just selected the Adrenaline Overflow challenge (and has Dead Hard equipped). I remembered seeing this thread, so we decided to run some experiments.

As soon as he equipped this challenge, the server failed (everyone booted, not just him) three games in a row, so this can be reliably reproduced.

    - Friend was playing David King

    - First occurrence was against Singularity on Ormond, disconnected when the killer made their first hit of the game against a different survivor (David was close by, within terror radius)

    - Second occurrence was against Clown on Mother's Dwelling, disconnected when killer made their first hit of the game against a different survivor (David was close by, within terror radius)

    - Third occurrence was against Singularity on Ormond, disconnected when killer made their first hit of the game against a different survivor (David was not close by, but was within terror radius due to Hyperawareness Spray add-on)

To experiment, my friend removed Dead Hard, but kept the challenge on. We did NOT disconnect once he had removed Dead Hard, so we believe it is specifically happening when Adrenaline Overflow is selected + Dead Hard is equipped by the player.

  • This thread is over a year old and still has people commenting on it in 2024 because this issue is still not fixed. We had someone reviewing this from the dev team, if I remember correctly, but no one has updated us. New threads about this problem get hit with the "you seem to be having a technical issue" and thread closure.

    Devs, what is going on?

They implied it was my internet connection , they implied it was because of the Internet Exchange Point in Boston… But I have moved to Washington State. I have a new ISP, new computer, new router, new everything. But this is STILL happening. I have a 15 minute penalty today, for the third day running, because of this problem.

It is absolutely ridiculous and punishing that I and so many others are dealing with this. If you can't fix it, at least stop punishing us for just wanting to play your game. 7k hours, btw. I buy every single chapter on release day, have spent hundreds of dollars on this game, and am just in general very passionate about it because I love it (it's a toxic relationship, I know).

I am deeply disappointed and upset by the lack of response.

ETA: I hope this is okay, but I'm going to tag @Jocelynbee who was our mod coordinator from last year. Could we possibly get an update here?

  • It's wild that this is still happening. We had a big thread going last year around this time, which I will link for posterity. So much back and forth with BHVR on this, checking my internet, etc. The best guess they had was it had something to do with the Internet Exchange Point in our area, as a lot of us were in the Northeast and connected to the Boston IEP.

HOWEVER — I just moved to Washington State. I have a new PC, new router, new ISP, etc. And I'm having the same problem. Again. Up to a 15 minute penalty today for reasons beyond my control.

I am on PS5 playing on US East Coast servers, and have posted before about being kicked from matches and receiving "Disconnected from Host" error messages. With the latest update, the error messages were changed to be more clear. It now says, "Dedicated server is not responding; disconnecting...".

It happened to me today as Singularity right after I switched to a biopod, and suddenly realized I did not have a prompt to exit it. Though this is my first time experiencing this since the update, the same thing has been happening regularly in my matches since around January of 2023 and I have been receiving disconnect penalties for it which force me to stop playing the game. The error usually coincides with a change of health or hook states, using a killer power, performing an interaction, etc. Anything the server has to validate I suppose.

I hope the fact that this new error message specifies it is an issue with the dedicated servers will help BHVR to quickly resolve it. This thread includes hundreds of comments from a number of players that regularly experience similar disconnections, which we can now see are an issue with servers not responding: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/366497/forcefully-kicked-from-match/p1

Please acknowledge this report, it's been an endlessly frustrating issue that has repeatedly prevented me from enjoying a game I've purchased content for. Video of one experience below, several other examples in the comments.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mpQESyFNww

  • Really can't believe we started this thread in June 2023 (after experiencing issues from March 2023 onward) and this still isn't resolved. Getting kicked game after game. I thought we had a coordinator at one point? I see mods are closing other threads with this problem claiming it's a technical issue, which is very helpful! Let us not forget that this was marked as an 'acknowledged' bug at one point in time and many, many people have jumped through hurdle after hurdle to 'fix' a client-side internet issue that doesn't exist.

  • I took a week off from the game to reset my DC penalty, logged back in today and promptly disconnected for 3/4 matches. Right back to a 15 minute ban.

Here's my logs I guess, again.

    DeadByDaylight.log

  • Took a week off to reset my DC penalty and my first match back today it happened again. :') I love that for us.

  • @Coordi said:

Thank you! Any additional logs would be greatly appreciated so I can pass them along for the team.

Thank you, Jocelyn! This has happened to me again twice today (PC - Steam, during a health state validation). I don't have a screenshot of the error message, but it's the same "Dedicated Server is not responding; disconnecting" error that others have mentioned and grabbed. I have attached the log.

    DeadByDaylight.log

  • The servers themselves have been outright crashing all day and I just had one where I personally DCed again with penalty, so no, it is not fixed. :(

  • The way that there are CLEAR waves of this happening (i.e. this thread and the other one being revived all at once with a chorus of people saying "This is happening to me!") and BHVR is having their mods decline new threads on the grounds of "it's a technical issue". It's just appalling, honestly. I cannot stress enough how clear it is that this is an ongoing instability issue with their servers that they will not own up to, despite the previous thread being marked as an acknowledged issue.

  • Very disheartening to say that this is still happening to me as well with associated DC penalties. It has driven me away from the game and it sucks to feel like I'd still like to play only to get forced out of matches and hit with a penalty so I can't play at all. Do better, BHVR.

  • This has only encouraged more people to play her, and to play her to this same effect. My squad and I went against a skull merchant the same day that Team Eternal did, after their game, and were in the match for 60 minutes until the servers kicked us out. It was miserable and grueling, and I'll be honest-- this killer should be kill-switched until there is a solution to this playstyle.

  • Just for transparency, I was in the UK for a while and haven't been playing. Back in the US now and I just got hit with a 30 minute ban because I've DCed like 6 times in the last 24 hours :') It's not fixed.

  • YES I saw this too. I'm running Self-Aware on survivor and literally thought the killer must be running Predator because of how intense the scratch marks were.

    For reference:

    PC (Steam)

I'm playing Gabriel, running Self-Aware + Made For This + Resilience + Repressed Alliance

I first noticed it today after the update while playing on Crotus Prenn against a Huntress.

  • Actually it is a dupe -- this issue has been acknowledged by the dev team (see the thread "Forcefully Kicked From Match" by Chesnoodle. It's been an ongoing problem for a few months, unforunately. We are only just now getting acknowledged by the devs, but hopefully this means a fix is in the works.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/366497/forcefully-kicked-from-match#latest

  • It just happened again, for another 15 minute ban. The match had just started, I touched a gen, and immediately disconnected.

    DeadByDaylight.log

  • I just disconnected twice in a row and now have a 15 minute ban again. I'd love if we could turn off the DC penalty since this problem has been officially acknowledged by the team.

To add insult to injury, this was my view when I DCed the first time. Literally bumping up against the exit and as it tried to validate me leaving, it disconnected instead.

Thank you for looking into this! I play on console so I will see which of these I am able to do and update when I can. We are currently posting any clips we have of the newer error message under this thread https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/379080/dedicated-server-is-not-responding-disconnecting. It seems since the anniversary event began the servers have been more unstable than usual with a lot more lag and dc’s so I have hope this will be addressed soon. This thread is now “Acknowledged” !!

I could literally cry <3 Thank you for everyone who has put so much effort into bringing this problem to the forefront.

  • You aren't alone! Downdetector indicates there's an issue with Steam servers as of about an hour ago. I'm having the same issue, and hopefully they'll have it resolved soon.

  • Happy first day of anniversary: it's a 30 minute ban. This event is such a disaster between the community and this baloney.

    DeadByDaylight.log

  • Agreed, we are in the WRONG servers for some reason. My ping is always at 40ms or less and I'm getting 140+ most games, along with the rest of the people in my lobby. What gives?

  • Camping and tunneling every single match.

Currently getting humped on the ground as the last survivor by a p100 sadako. Happy anniversary y'all.

    image.png

  • It's so unfortunate that every single year the anniversary brings out the absolute worst in people. It's the same thing every year— killers especially get ultra sweaty and camp/tunnel/bm in every match. I mean, it's always like that, but with events it's every match, you know?

  • Just happened to me again in the EGC, on RPD against The Singularity. No cause that I could see. Gates were open, I was waiting to guide my friend out the exit and I disconnected.

    image.png

I'm going to try to attach the log file below, but it won't open on my computer, so no promises!

    DeadByDaylight.log

  • Little victories, folks: this topic is now “under review” ✨

  • Received yet another "Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting" today (and last night) after my teammate healed me. 15 minute penalty so far. I have emailed support yet again to express my disappointment and frustration with the lack of transparency and acknowledgment from their team.

  • Up to a 10 minute ban because of this.

    image.png

Dedicated server not responding. Will it ever end?

  • Confirmed, I had a hag use this on me and my squad earlier today

  • Surprising absolutely no-one, I am having this same bug, and have been having it for months without any assistance from BHVR. :) Just happened to me against a Ghostface on Dead Dawg when I tried to Any Means a pallet. As soon as I interacted with the pallet, I DCed.

  • Happened to me going against a laggy pig on Garden of Joy yesterday. Piggie phased right through (and she knew she could do it). Once I was downed, I could also phase through the pallet by crawling through it over and over with a slight jitter.

  • UPDATE: With the new update, I am also getting "Disconnected: Dedicated server is not responding" + the disconnection penalty

  • There is a purple add-on for maps called the crystal bead that allows everyone to see what's on your map when you use it. I find it really distracting when people run this add-on because my ADHD just can't :'D

  • I'm so sorry this happened to you! For the record, my friend in my 4-stack just experienced the exact same bug in the match we just finished.

  • Samesies but I'm on Steam. ;_; It was so stinkin' hard, too.

  • @jesterkind That makes so much sense! I guess I was considering how with Dredge, it was very obvious on launch that they implemented anti-camping measures. That makes sense!

  • Many, many people are having this problem. It is still unacknowledged by BHVR, and we are actively being ignored. Please consider adding your voice to the thread "Forcefully Kicked From Match" by Chesnoodle. Thank you!

  • There's another gigantic thread in the bug forum (still unacknowledged by BHVR) called "Forcefully Kicked From Match" by Chesnoodle. I'd love if you added your support/voice there! We are actively being ignored by BHVR.

  • Still absolutely continuing to trash my games. I'm up to 15 minutes again after taking a long time off to try and reset. Tell me how I can play Diablo 4 for 8 hours straight with no connection issues on their garbage servers (sorry, Blizzard, you know it's true), but as soon as I log into DBD I get kicked multiple times?

Hard to believe that between this thread and the multiple, MULTIPLE duplicate threads in the bug forum, BHVR still refuses to acknowledge this issue. It would be so simple to turn the DC penalty off while they investigated with the anniversary coming up, but no.

I'm also frankly ready to quit the game over it. It's frankly not worth the frustration. When I do get to play, every single match is played like a comp game, or the killers are toxic af, and why am I sitting here waiting out my 15, 20, 30 minute bans just to get into miserable matches in the first place? Idk anymore, honestly.
