no moonlight offering please, the game used to be unbearably dark, im all for bringing back old aesthetic but no moonlight offerings making the map pitch black please.
-
Damn that looks like a scary idea, being banned for no reason with no way to recover.
-
damn, R.I.P. Lich I guess.

no. I don’t miss when the unhooker also got endurance making it a lose lose for the killer because no matter who they went for they had to go through endurance and it encouraged tunneling because more often than not the unhooker would be healthy so it was quicker to get the unhookee. This made it awful for the unhookee as well because they knew they would probably be tunneled because of BT, this was awful for everyone exept the unhooker, who got away scot-free.
Old BT made more people get tunneled, allowed bully squads to thrive, and made hook trades way too safe.
Do you miss when killers face camping made it impossible to rescue survivors? Or when NOED wasn’t a hex because hex’s didn’t exist yet? Or when hooks never respawned? Or when wraith gave constant mapwide info on if they were cloaked or uncloaked?
-
wait what? Can you post these stats?
-
because now it works as an anti tunnel perk only, before the nerf it made you invulnerable for a minute.

Distortion is a poor man's OoO
This is the problem right here.
Every single one of the "replacement" perks you mentioned is licensed. So anti-aura is simply, and literally, pay to win after distortion inevitably gets deleted.
here we go again sigh

But people cried enough to get it nerfed unfortunately.
no, what happened was there’s were major problems with healing and they needed to be nerfed, but BHVR overcompensated the hell out of it by destroying self care. Honestly self care did not need to be nerfed nearly as bad as it was.
It’s just like Billy, his base kit was fine but insta saw combo needed to be changed bad, but they destroyed almost all of his addons and then gave him old overheat, BHVR has a history of grossly overcompensating things by overbuffing or overnerfing things to extreme levels.
-
people would just never save until somebody else got downed. With an extra 10 seconds there’s already been a “gens before friends” mentality lurking in the darkness of soloQ. This would make that 1 billion times worse

hindered would make you immobile and haste would make you the speed of light

Would it deactivate if hooked or escaping the killer's grasp? Otherwise it could be pretty broken with a near 100% repair speed, especially if paired with perks like DS to try and intentionally be slugged if the killer thinks you're running it.
true, but to be fair getting 100% would take almost half of your bleed out timer

This is one reason I feel BHVR needs to rework the penalty, other games understand what a disconnection from the internet is, while a predisposition to willingly click a button shows a willingness to quiting a game. Those are the ones that should be punished. Clicking on a I Quit button, recieves the penalty.
That said, physically unplugging a console, or PC to bypass an acknowledgement of quiting. Faking a disconnection. Is what needs to be determined and that's the hard to do. Sadly.
wanted to bring this up to further your last point.
The last of us has a multiplayer mode, with a large penalty for disconnecting, however it’s been a known exploit for years that if you just quit the game entirely (literally just close the game from the PlayStation menu) you get no penalty and it’s like the match never happened.
-
uh no.
Every time they do that people DC on their first down/hook/flashlight save/pallet save/nurse screech literally anything. It’s been seen time and time again that with no DC penalty everyone leaves as soon as one thing they dislike happens.
-
I feel like his teleport is very disorienting and sometimes puts you in really bad spots (like on the floor below the survivor) and I usually find that the time it takes to teleport and get to the survivor they almost always finish the box and have time to run away. Idk I mainly just want less confusing teleports
-
this seems interesting but what constitutes being “picked up”? Like being healed off the dying state or being physically picked up by the killer and put on their shoulder?

I’m kinda blown away that anyone could ever accuse hehavior of hating survivors, when this game was heavily survivor sided for the first 6.5 years of its lifespan
you have a point.

This is one of the most sane takes I've read this whole thread.
Yes. Killer Mains should accept they are no longer helpless or powerless. The only changes Killers need, and the only ones BHVR is doing, are QoL and basekit addons which are minor buffs to make the character feel better at best. And also that they are not intended to always 4k. 60% is an acceptable rate of kills, why do you always need repeated 4ks to be happy?
Just like Survivor Mains need to accept that yes, the game is intentionally Killer-sided, it's a horror game, Surviving is hard and you may not always escape. 40% is an acceptable escape rate. Why do you need more escapes more frequently to be happy?
thank you, I hate all these “oh BHVR favors this side wah wah wah 😩” the game is supposed to favor the killers. When will people realize this?

Why can't the OP comment on perks being kind of lackluster, without people turning it into a flame war over which side has it worse? It's not like they were shading anyone. They just said that they thought this year's survivor perks were kind of meh. Which is fair enough.
because people can’t go a single post without whining. That’s how the forums are.

I get the feeling that with a big roster of perks and killers (and I say killers because they have unique powers) every new perk that is introduced runs the risk and potential to become overpowered when combined with something.
Like you said, there is only so much that can be done, so I think it’s time to make DBD a bit more granular.
X perk cannot be combined with Y.
Category A (killer/swf) cannot use/repeat certain perks.
New side objectives (meaningful ones that progress the game)Maybe this can be a refreshing evolution for the game and can make balances for perks easier without affecting everyone.
there was a roblox game that was removed a few years ago called “escape the darkness” and I always thought they did the objectives way better than dbd. Basically there was 3 “sections” of the objective. One was fixing 3 generators (it was the same as dbd, skill checks and all) , one was repairing 3 fuse boxes by opening chests (chests only had fuses as items weren’t a thing) and putting 3 fuses in a box to repair it, and one was fueling 3 gas tanks by finding Jerry cans on the map and using them on the tanks (each can did 50% of the tank and 3 people could work on it at once).
Each objective had 5 (5 gens 5 tanks 5 boxes) but only 3 needed to be done, the order the objectives were in was random each game and you could only do the active objective. and there was no gates, once all the objectives were done the exits were open, idk about that part though.
Honestly it made the games feel different every time, especially because there weren’t pallets but windows, crouch spots, and doors that could be broken by killer m1 but infinity repaired manually by the survivors.

remember when original freddy got nerfed into the ground because of a review bomb where survivors complained that Freddy was “too op” because they didn’t want to learn that selfcare was a hard counter to his entire power?

I think we've reached the point where we need new gameplay mechanics. There's only so many interesting perks you can create around a limited list of actions.
this. Me and my friend joked about this when we read the Castlevainia chapters perks, I literally said “BHVR really ran out of ideas with this one”
There’s only so many perks you can make with such a barebones base game (looking at objectives and maps alone) really you have windows, pallets, hooks, gens, totems, chests, healthy, injured, dying, deep wound, And… that’s kinda it. And everything listed there (except deep wound) has at least 3 perks based around it. And how would you really make a perk about deep wound?
Without anything else all we can do is keep stacking more and more perks onto these same mechanics that have been perked to death.

Stop playing sweaty.
2 Hook everyone. Bring Rancor. Mori the Obsession at the end for some flair. Let the other three escape.
If that's too difficult, keep trying (and losing) until your losses accumulate to the point your MMR tanks to that level. Works for me.
If it's too easy, just whiff and miss attacks/farm, try to give the impression of trying but failing. You'll maintain/lower your MMR further until it's mind-numbingly easy at which point meme around or stomp for a few rounds if you want a challenge.
If your "funny builds" involve remaining competitive and getting 2+ kills, guess what, you'll be put in competitive lobbies.losing on purpose isn’t “not playing sweaty” that’s just losing on purpose.
It amazes me how many killers think if a survivor brings DS DH etc. they are always “sweaty” and how many survivor think a killer getting more then 1 kill is “sweaty”
Winning a game isn’t playing “sweaty” bringing full gen regression/progression builds and rushing to end the match as fast as possible is sweaty.
I shouldn’t be forced to lose on purpose just to have fun in the game, that’s not how any game should be made.
Getting 2+ kills dose not make you competitive 😂 if I bring backpack bubba (RIP old space Billy) and not hook anyone until I down everyone with starstruck because everyone ran into me that’s not being competitive that’s running a meme build that worked.
Being competitive is defined as: “having or displaying a strong desire to be more successful than others”
-
trickster has to hit 8 knives, deathslinger cant down sometimes depending on where both players are, huntress is 1 hit, 1 injury or 1 down, always hits over pallets, and can cross map hit, can has an addon that makes her 1 shot 1 down.
-
Run fast, Run far

no. Because both could have ended the game if they wanted. It’s not holding the game hostage if both of them chose to do nothing. Just like hatch standoffs weren’t holding the game hostage.

this is a 4v1 survival game with a 60% kill rate ideally. It’s dead by daylight not escape by daylight. They don’t “hate survivors” they balance the game around survivors being at a disadvantage but still having an average of 1 escape a game.

okay I just now saw ur edit, but even that is not a good argument imo and even if it was it definitely is not a good argument for a cooldown anymore since it got nerfed and doesnt do that anymore anyways…
I never said that’s how it works now. I said couldn’t, which is past tense. The original eruption had a reason to have a cool down but even then it was overkill and now it’s basically unnecessary. That’s why I said so you Couldn’t stack.

you could never stack the effect even with a cooldown of 0 seconds; bec after you trigger it you need to kick a gen in order to activate the perk again…
you could still stack it, there was more then enough time to kick a gen, because back when gen tapping was still a thing.
I’m taking “stack” like: survivor is incap for 15 seconds, then gets errupted again because the killer immediately kicked their gen then got another down.
-
37-15=17?
-
crazy? I was crazy once
-
I understand enough of a cooldown so you couldn’t stack the effects but 30 seconds is overkill
-
anything to make survivor less of a hold M1 simulator
-
if you want changes maybe say the changes you want?
-
ok and?
The game is supposed to be killer sided. It’s supposed to have a 60% death rate. It’s not escape by daylight. In a 4v1 the solo player is supposed to be the most powerful, that’s how 4v1 works.

We're skipping past the part where we flame the Killer players for doing it.
What am I supposed to do about it as a Survivor?
I'm at the point where I'm running DH, DS, OTR, and Babysitter. Four perks that I don't really WANT to run. But four perks that I feel like I HAVE to run. (And one of them is to literally BABYSIT my teammates who aren't going to do their part in running anti-tunneling perks!)
But I can't make people run away from the Killer after I give them Babysitter.
And I can't stop the Killer from dropping chases with me because I'm not the weak link. (And even if they don't, I can't make my team do gens during my chases.)
And I can't make people run OTR for an 80-second Distortion effect, which prevents BBQ tunneling.
I'm at my god damn wit's end with this #########. The reality is that BHVR needs to fix a lot of the core issues with the game, and stop making perks as bandaids to those issues. But in the meantime, what the actual hell am I supposed to do?
(And on the flip side, as a former Killer main, I understand that getting 8 hooks no kills, ESPECIALLY with minimal or zero gen slowdown, is just an automatic loss if you're on a normal-mobility Killer. And then Killers run 4x gen slowdowns to try to fix the game with perk slots again, and then what happens? People say, "Omg they're running 4x gen slowdowns, we gotta nerf them." So we nerf them. And then what does that mean? It means gens are going by FASTER, making us NEED 4x gen slowdown perks EVEN MORE. How they aren't understanding this concept, I'll never know.)
But anyway…
take a break from this game for a few months. Trust me, once i went outside and felt the touch of another human being I was much happier (I wish I hadn’t spent so much money on this game).
