What in the low MMR matchmaking is this. 🤣🤣 I haven’t seen these low level players in a long timeeeeeeeee.
I mean no harm when I say this but that tactic wouldn’t work on higher levels or even higher MMR. One whiff of his plan and we go to the furthest gens away and complete them like 1,2,3.
Sure, OK. I guess I'll go do all 5 gens by myself, then? You never, ever get bad or inexperienced teammates in your games? Lucky you.
The game was lost by the point that I decided to venture down there. If I had been more interested in my own survival, I would have waited for everyone else to die so I could get hatch, but I wanted to see if it was possible to get someone out of the basement for the sake of my own curiosity. I honestly don't think MMR matters in this game. Only the time that you log on to play.

Just the screenshot you took is enough to make me imagine what kind of match you had. 😄
Yeah, we tried...
-
This question's got an easy answer for me because both of my mains are women - Meg as Survivor (with Ripley as my second main) and Susie from the Legion as Killer. Love them all.
-
Don't think the basement is bad news? This basement Bubba would disagree. He stood near the top of the basement stairs with insidious and even with sprint burst equipped I couldn't get anyone out of there (AFC and basekit BT did nothing, btw).
He is very much still viable.
-
I expect to get destroyed by this Killer for 50 trials in a row, then to barely ever see it again. Just like what happened with the Skull Merchant, Singu, Xeno and Chucky.
-
I find that matches can still be pretty chill if you don't make a habit of 4King every game.
I can still play "nice" enough for most of my trials (nobody generally dies until there are 2 gens left). That said, I do get my fair share of 0 and level 1 prestige Survivors. I had a Jake the other day that hid by the exit gates all game after he ended up on death hook early. I guess I must be the closest in MMR to these players when the Killer BP incentive is at 100%.
It's got to the point where I have to bring an ebony mori so I don't dump someone out of the game too early because I can't count hooks.
Fair enough if you prefer the challenge of facing stronger opponents, but I guess this also means accepting that you can't always play nice and go for hooks over kills. One of the major downsides of MMR (assuming it's working at all), is that you'll always be going up against opponents that are at least as strong or possibly stronger than you are, until you lose often enough to drop down a bracket. My Survivor games are rough at the moment and nearly every killer I face is a ruthless 4K machine. Just how it goes, I suppose.

Was also planning to try the Dark Devotion + Unforeseen combo, lol.
On survivor I want to try Wicked (the reworked version with basement self-unhook) with Second Wind, to potentially trick the killer into thinking it's Deliverance until they see I'm healed suddenly. Though I might wait a bit to try that since I think killers might try to avoid basement for the first few days in anticipation of that perk.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3662090#Comment_3662090
Strength in Shadows and Self-Care don't stack together, that will just let you heal yourself at 60% speed if you're in the basement and 35% if you're not (Self-Care won't give any benefit in the basement if you have both perks). Pairing either with Botany will work though.
Oh well, nevermind then. Guess it's take one or the other. Too bad for my teammates if I bring Strength in Shadows, because I mainly intend to use it to free up my Botany perk slot (even then, Plot Twist is probably still a better self heal perk to take).
-
Nah. The Glyph ones aren't even the worst challenges.
There's one that has you survive a trial with only the perk Self-Care equipped. Maybe that was possible before it got nerfed, but it sure isn't possible now. I bet there are even worse examples hiding in the archive.
-
I want to use Unbound in a vault build with Legion at some point (with Fire Up + Superior Anatomy). Sure I won't win a single game with it but it might be fun to try anyway.
And I'm looking forward to getting myself killed in the basement so many times with Sable's basement Self-Care perk (I want to try it with Botany and Self-Care to do a turbo heal).
-
I love Toba Landing. I'm a big Sci-Fi fan and I think it's the most beautiful map in the game.
Worst maps for me are generally the indoor maps. The Game is OK, but with the others I get so lost and there are so many weird dead ends to run into (with Midwich and Hawkins being the worst offenders. At least they look cool, I guess).
-
I think Lucky Star is the most underrated aura perk for all the info that it gives you. I tend to make full aura builds, but if I can only bring one aura perk then it's this one.
I'm really enjoying Self-Aware / Fixated at the moment. You can stealth around the map reasonably quickly and it obviously pairs well with Sprint Burst. But you can also use the info it gives to create misleading scratch marks and to break line of sight / mind game at certain loops. Now that Killers don't kick gens so much and Nowhere To Hide is less common, you can use it to walk quite far away from your gen and the Killer won't want to waste time looking for you. It's just a great perk with so many uses.
I think Self-Care / Botany Knowledge are also an underrated combo. I don't care what anyone else thinks, access to unlimited 30 second heals all game is strong and potentially game changing imho.
As for Killer perks, Iron Grasp and Lightborn are underrated. If you take both of these perks, you are near guaranteed to hook the Survivor you're carrying.
-
Because it's fun?
If you've ever self unhooked near to an exit gate for a very cheeky last moment escape, then you'd know that.
Fun is reason enough for something to be in a video game, no? Besides, I've probably self unhooked 20 times in well over a thousand games (and it's only actually mattered to my chance of survival on less than 5 of those occasions).
-
I kinda hope we don't get too many real life celebrities in the game (unless they actually have something to do with the horror genre, like Elvira).
Nicolas Cage is a weird enough addition as it is.
-
I don't see Xenos often enough. I also quite like facing the Twins (that one Twins main is taking a break from DBD, I guess).
Used to be Demos too, but they're no longer extinct in the wild now that Stranger Things has returned and that makes me happy.
-
I like to imagine she's got Killers on cassette in the Walkman (my favourite Maiden album).

"i fully expect not to excape" Truly sad that some solo q players have even gotta to this state of thinking.
I mean, it is the underdog role of the game after all.
Add to that a long list of reasons why the match isn't going to go your way (mismatched MMR, bad RNG, good map for the Killer, I played poorly, brought the wrong perks, teammates throwing, Killer camps / tunnels etc). Most of these things are not within my control to do anything about.
If I played more selfishly and less altruistic, I could probably get hatch and gate escapes more often.

Competitive players don't mind that at all. The fun is in the competition in that setting, not the variety. The comp community scrims against each other constantly in customs. Half the fun of a competitive setting is knowing player tendencies because you've faced them dozens of times.
If that's the case, then they already have a mode to play in and a way to organise their matches. They don't need to join the public queues to find a game but I bet plenty of comp players still do. Besides, the comp players in top MMR are probably only a tiny percentage of an already tiny percentage of DBD players.
Why would BHVR put resources into a mode that only a very small fraction of the player base would find useful or appealing? Without shards or something to play for I wouldn't touch a comp mode, but even an average Killer like myself can be too much for some Survivor teams to handle. So I doubt it would remove enough competitively minded players from the public pool to make matches in the standard queue much more casual than they currently are.

In OW2 the casual queue is much more chill than your average DBD match. Not completely sweat-free, but much less than DBD, and much less than OW2's own competitive queue.
In contrast, in DBD, I've already faced tournament players myself a few times and if you look at tournament streamers like Momo7 (the guy who has 2000 winstreak on Blight) then he faces clearly inexperienced survivors who give up at 5 gens in half his matches. If there was a competitive queue at least this type of matches would not occur.
They would spend 10 minutes to queue up for a match, only to find themselves playing against the same handfull of players all day anyway.
So the top MMR Killers and Survivor teams would be back in the casual queue before long (this is especially true if they're also streamers, because their audiences won't want to watch DBD queue simulator).
-
I'm fine with Killers having a 60% kill rate (I play both roles, but I do tend to play more Survivor than Killer). When I load into a Survivor match I fully expect not to escape. I just want to be able to play out a match and not feel like I'm wasting my time for booting up the game.
It feels like there are more frustrations to Survivor compared to what I experienced when I first started playing about a year ago. Be that inconsistent (or totally absent) match making, tedious but common perk combos like Pain Res + Pop + Grim Embrace, teammates tapping out without the courtesy of giving us a bot to play with, Killer perks I wish BHVR would hurry up and nerf / rework, some Killers being over buffed. It all adds up to a game that feels less fun to me right now. Most of my Survivor matches are sweaty at the moment, while Killer feels like it's on easy mode.
I don't know, maybe I'm just starting to get a little burned out by it all. Anyway, it's not the dying in most trials that bothers me, it's other aspects of the game.
-
Fengs might buy the most cosmetics, but are we even sure Feng is the most popular Survivor?
I swear I see more Claudettes, Megs and Dwights in my games than Fengs. As much as I'd love to hear less of Feng's injured moaning in my future trials, I'm not that lucky... She's not going anywhere.

Can Meg join the team too?
I love these T-shirts so much, they are top tier.
I hope Sable gets one too when she's released (I'm saving my Auric Cells just in case).
-
I think he's fun to VS now that I don't have to play against him for 50 matches in a row. And after his 180 nerf (or "bug fix" if you want to call it that), he's not so oppressive in chase anymore, so that helps a bit too. Some of his hits can still look a bit suspect from the Survivor perspective but I think that's just the nature of his attack animation. His Perks are fun but I'd probably nerf Friends Ti'l The End if it was up to me. Giving you the exposed status is a little too much in my opinion.
I'm not great with this Killer but he's still a lot of fun to play as and the third person viewpoint makes him unique. Game play wise, I think he's basically a strong 1 VS 1 version of Legion. Overall, I'm glad he's in the game.
-
Maybe some ones for my mains (Meg and Legion)?
But in all honestly, I don't care too much for them. I'm a little bit sad that they seem to be replacing a lot of charms in the game. And not just the filler charms either, but the ones you get for completing tome levels as well.
One of the main reasons for going back and completing old tomes is to collect all the charms. I honestly wouldn't bother with the current tome if there weren't rift fragments to collect.
-
Don't forget about baby David with No Mither or Nea doing nothing but Urban Evading around the edges of a swamp map!
At least Sable's perk does something (if not much) for the team assuming she can pull it off (that's a big if).
-
I want to apologise wholeheartedly for getting The Huntress buffed. I swear they've come up with these buffs just for me and all the other Huntress players who miss 90% of their hatchet shots. Ditto with the Clown on those rare occasions I might play him for a daily.
For the record, I don't think these Killers need the buffs they're getting just because players like me are god awful with them.
-
In a word, no. Absolutely not.
Besides, what are add-ons if not two extra mini perks to equip? The Legion (for example) has a mini version of Ruin (Fuming Mixtape) that they can activate anytime they're in their power. Add-ons are decently strong and do the same job as perks a lot of the time.
I think if anything, the opposite is true. Experienced Killers are more likely to limit their perks to give themselves an extra challenge, not to want an extra perk slot to play with.
On the other hand, I do sometimes wish I could bring more "fun" perks and I do like the idea of maybe categorising perks by their relative strength. For example, Killers could have 5 perk slots but 3 perks have to be chase perks and only 2 could be gen regression / slowdown. Would be a huge rework to the way the game works and in the end, I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Yes, as a lifelong Iron Maiden fan, this is one of the most exciting things to come out for the game. I honestly hope this collab does well so we can get more Legendary Eddie skins, 4 Eddie's is too small, at least a couple more would make the collection feel more complete. There's so many Eddie's to choose from and I am personally wishing for the first album Eddie for Legion and Killers Eddie for Huntress. Piece of Mind would be awesome as well.

I kinda feel like they would be a step down from the other four. As much as I'd like to see my main get a skin, I imagine the devs considered these Eddie designs but dismissed them for not being interesting enough.
I still can't believe Legion are getting nothing, though. Like, not even a hoodie for Susie?
-
40% sounds pretty impressive, not gonna lie. My personal escape rate already hovers consistently around 20-30%, including pity hatch escapes (I'm currently tracking my games to see if I can ever achieve a 40% escape rate). I guess I'm just bad at this game and nothing is likely to change that.
I don't think DBD has a good enough match making system or a big enough player base (at least in my region) to give everyone queuing up appropriate opponents. I've spent the night queuing up for several minutes to load into lobbies where the Killer had at least double the amount of hours the Survivors had (and I had double theirs again, not that it helped me much in the end).
From my experience as both Killer and Survivor, The Killer is almost always at least slightly better than the lobby they get matched with (with ocassional extremes either way). I wonder if that's intentional and helps BHVR maintain the 60/40 split.
-
I'm gonna go with Mr Whippy, because he's all twisted up like the ice cream (I don't know if anyone outside of the UK gets Mr Whippy Ice Cream vans).

I think she kinda is, to be honest. At least to some degree. There's definitely plenty of overlap in related subcultures.
I don't think anyone in the real world fits into neat little categories anyway, so it's a little more realistic when fictional characters don't either.

I don't see why you would run both her basement self-care perk and self-care. Even if they did stack for some reason, you get more value running Botany Knowledge over a 2nd self-care perk.
Edit: Wait, I'm just dumb and misread the description. I thought it meant that heals in the basement are 60% faster but no, it is a self heal perk at 60% normal speed. I might still bring both though, since you're not always near the basement (with Botany of course).
-
Yeah, I don't think her perks will be all that useful for Solo Q Survivors. Unless you use it in the late game to break a 3 gen (which is a much weaker strat now anyway), the invocation one is too much risk for not enough reward in my opinion. But I do hope there will be more invocation perks in the future, because the concept itself is pretty neat.
(btw, I think you only ever get a max of 15% gen progression on all gens, regardless of how many Survivors join you. The invocation just works faster if others join you).
Her basement healing perk could be useful. Anyone know if it will work with Self-Care for a speedy but risky basement self heal? Be cool if it did, but I can imagine BHVR thinking that might be too strong.
-
She'll be popular for sure. I really love her design and I'll definitely be adding her to my usual Survivor mains (Meg and Ripley). I think her future cosmetics will likely be very cool as well.
I wonder if she'll be getting an Iron Maiden T-Shirt like the other original Survivors, or if she'll miss out since she hasn't been released yet...
-
Here's mine. Legion is in their own tier because it's always interesting to face my Killer main (and I don't often see a lot of Legions).
-
I'm sick of my MMR score being disregarded most of the time. What's the point of adding SBMMR anyway, if I'm just going to be back-filled into the next available Billy/Blight/Oni/Spirit sweatfest because there aren't enough players queuing to fill their lobbies?
I'd rather not play if nobody around my skill level is currently online. Just leads to frustration for me, for the other Survivors and a boring game for the Killer.
-
Certainly getting a few Survivor shirts, for my Survivor main Meg and maybe also for Thalita (I like Thalita but I rarely play her because I don't like too many of her cosmetics). And for Jeff too because it would feel wrong not to.
I might buy the Deathslinger one eventually if he becomes my other Killer main, but legendary skins are crazy expensive and the grown up in me probably won't let me buy one.
-
Ditto for a hook scream volume slider. And I'd like to be able to lower the volume of the notification explosion noise, too. It's the main reason why I can never use headphones to play and it's especially obnoxious when you get those types of Survivors that like to grief by spam vaulting or jumping in and out of lockers 20 times.
-
I kinda hope Sloppy gets the MFT treatment and becomes more or less extinct from the game. Everyone has that one perk they just hate to see and for me that's Sloppy by a long way. But it's not the mangled status effect that annoys the most, it's the healing regression caused by hemorrhage and as far as I know, that won't be changed in coming update anyway. If Sloppy caused one status or the other it wouldn't be so miserable to face, but both together in one perk is a nasty combo.
I doubt mangled will receive too much of a heavy nerf and I'd be surprised if they changed it radically, since most Killers are performing more or less as well as BHVR would like them to be.

I'm going to edit my OP since people don't seem understand what I'm trying to say, and looking over it I don't think I communicated it well.
I'm not saying that killers who only care about 4ks will stop caring about 4ks.
What I'm saying is that there is a not-insignificant number of players who seem to believe that anything short of a 4k is a killer loss. They don't understand that the game itself considers them to have won at 3 kills.
It's not a matter of being frustrated because they didn't get the most optimal result, they think they straight up lose the game because one survivor gets the hatch or whatever.
I've debated with these people across many platforms, I've had survivors mock me for losing the game because one person got out, I've had killers who slugged me to death say that they had to do it or they might lose. The subject came up again now that BHVR has released their stats, I've seen people saying that the kill rates mean nothing because they're not 4ks and thus not wins.
Fair enough. Maybe you're right and by establishing an official win condition it would stop players coming up with their own personal one. But to be honest, plenty of Killers don't think the hatch mechanic should even exist (even though most regard a Survivor finding hatch first to be just luck and not a win). So I think these players would still consider a single Survivor escaping through hatch as a loss regardless of what BHVR might say about it. The Devs seem wary about being specific and establishing an official win condition or anything similar because I think they want players to play relatively casually overall. Hence our hidden SBMMR and the lack of any performance tracking or competitive modes.
-
This is a game that gives you absolutely nothing for winning. It doesn't even track your number of escapes, kills or trial performance in any official capacity. Only the grading system exists to track performance and most players agree that's little more than a measure of time spent playing per month.
And yet somehow players have still managed to turn the game into a total sweat fest anyway. No, I don't think communicating that 3K = a win is going to make a tiny bit of difference to the Killers that want to 4K in every single game.

It would be interesting to see the possibilities of what killer botinator could do.
Oh you bet! If they use any kind of machine learning to code the A.I. to learn what successful human players do in any given situation, Killer bots will be utterly ruthless.
Imagine seeing your entire team slugged and bled out by an OniBot. A BillyBot that always returns to the hook to hard tunnel. Or a PigBot body blocking her Jigsaw boxes to secure a crucial head pop. Killer bots could play a nasty game.
-

I saw some people saying the survivor bots suck, but in my experience the bots are pretty good, and most of the time are a better teammate than the person that they replaced.
In custom games, I personally find them to be a real challenge and sometimes I can't get a single down. But in an actual trial where they've replaced a DC, they can act like they've been totally lobotomised. I suspect they've been nerfed somewhat for DC teammates.
-
I remember a not especially credible rumor a month ago concerning BHVR losing the license to use another Universal IP in DBD, specifically Jurassic Park. But could this license maybe have been The Thing instead?
I'm definitely getting The Thing vibes from what we've learned about the new Killer so far. A weird alien creature able to mimic humans (albeit in a very disturbing and unsettling way) is obviously a very similar concept. I wonder if the Killer could be based on work they did for a The Thing chapter that ultimately fell through.
-
I don't know why they haven't at least added a Trapper bot. I don't know the first thing about coding video game A.I., but I imagine he has the simplest power to implement.
Even a Trapper bot would be scary to face. Survivor bots are looping gods so I don't see why a Killer bot would be any different. You'd never win a mind game.
-
I personally don't get too many DCs as a Legion main but yeah, it definitely happens. There's not much love for us out there.
If you've only just started playing as Legion and building your MMR, it's more likely that you'll be facing less experienced Survivors more often. These Survivors like grouping up on gens and hate to play injured, making the Legion a deadly and oppressive Killer to these players. Legion is very strong at the low and mid MMR brackets. You should see less DCs as your opponents become stronger.
There are a couple of add-ons and common Legion perks that Survivors absolutely hate to face, mainly because they exacerbate the more tedious aspects of their design (their ability to delay objectives through mending, and their mobility in Frenzy to cross maps and pressure Survivors off gens). I personally think their base-kit game delay is already pretty good, so I tend to avoid using anything that makes them more oppressive in this respect. I don't use their Filthy Blade add-on or Thanatophobia because I know how much Survivors hate mending and working on gens. You could add Hex: Ruin and Frank's Mixtape into the mix and really grind the game to a halt. Add "optimal" but unpopular play styles like camping and tunnelling at 5 gens and you have a recipe for misery.
If you want Survivors to have a bit more fun in your matches, I recommend going off meta with your builds or equipping some chase perks. Aside from getting a quick first injury, their power isn't really useful as a chase power. But I like to use their power to vault pallets and windows in chase for no sensible reason anyway, because it's a very fun way to play them.
-
He's undoubtedly a very strong 1 Vs 1 Killer now. I mean, he always was. Except now you always have the option to catch up and basic attack, even if you're very bad with his blades. Plus, you get his main event so often that you can just spam it to get quick and easy downs. Survivors can't even body block to take protection hits. So yeah, most Survivors will be hitting the dirt in seconds against him.
Personally, I think they over buffed him a bit to be honest and he's not really a lot of fun to face. I do love everything else about him though (his sound design, cosmetics and lore are all great. Has two decent and fun perks too in Starstruck and No Way Out).
-
My core build is Sprint Burst, Botany Knowledge and Self-Care. Sprint Burst so I don't hit the dirt in a 10 second chase and to run away from the hook if the Killer likes to tunnel. Self-Care and Botany for reliable Solo Q heals (30 seconds to heal really isn't that bad).
The final perk slot is usually filled by Resilience, Deja Vu, Fixated/Vigil or whatever else will help me to complete a tome challenge. But I also like to mix it up a lot and try out fun builds or themed builds when I'm not playing so seriously.
I might also use a full stealth build when playing on Nintendo Switch (Lightweight, Distortion, Iron Will, Light-footed) because looping is harder to do on Switch.
-
Sweet! Thanks very much.
I do love a charm.
-
If we're talking about changes that would never be added (and for good reason, since they would probably kill the game):
- Removal of DC penalties (or at least more lenient ones).
- Give players the choice to opt out of facing certain Killers and SWFs.
- Choice to opt out of instant matchmaking (in other words, no more getting back filled into any old lobby).
- Self-Care and Made For This nerfs to be reversed.
-
If you're coming back from a break, you should expect to be a little rusty, no? You can't expect to return to the game and still be able to beat the same teams that you could when you were playing more regularly. Especially not with a Killer that you're just now learning to play. Some Killers you might never vibe with and that's OK (I suck with the Xeno, too). Personally, I think MMR should decay faster with time away and following a string of bad games, but as far as I know unfortunately it doesn't.
I'm not playing at your MMR OP, nor do I have as many hours in the game (only 1000). But from my recent experience, though I face some tough opponents I still win most of my Killer games. Survivor (Solo Q) on the other hand is currently pretty miserable. I'm only really enjoying the Killer side of the game at the moment, if I'm honest.
