I'm certain this perk will get some nerfs or even a full rework in time. I had two Survivors with this perk yesterday and it kept putting me in no win situations. Not sure what the counter play to this perk is even meant to be.
Much like in Otz's video, they kept dying under pallets and hovering around for a pallet save. You can't pick up and you don't have the time to chase the other Survivors away either, because then they'll pick themselves up. It was ridiculous. I probably shouldn't have been in that lobby and would have lost the game anyway (because MMR doesn't exist in this game), but it sure made losing feel a lot more frustrating. It was not a fun experience.

Wow, The fog vials are a very polarising item it seems…
Personally, I don't mind facing them as Killer and they've made the Survivor role fun again. Made me care a lot less about running into all the camping, tunnelling and slugging Killers out there. I do think maybe it could stand to take a little longer to recharge, but generate thicker fog as a trade off for being able to use it less often. That's probably the only change I would make to them. Please BHVR, let us keep this silly little item more or less how it currently is.
I also like that they help to create space for different play styles and perk combos to evolve / be viable again. I didn't like that the game was moving in a chase or die direction, with Killers on aura read autopilot and only one or two ways to play the Survivor role (e.g. Slam gens or be Ayrun).
I honestly think it's a good thing that Survivors who are weaker in chase now have something they can bring to disrupt the Killer from tracking them. But the vial is only so effective if they can use it well. So far, my success rate at losing Killers with the vial has been about 50/50 (although there's a bug making their effectiveness vary by map, so it's hard to tell how good or bad they really are just yet).

Really hope the progression is absolutely nothing like this because those numbers are crazy.
I don't know if there's reason to worry just yet, but in any case the Rift should never make the game feel like a grind. It's a little more justifiable when a game is free but this is not a free game and players do pay extra for the rift.
Changes like this might backfire on BHVR, since casual players will be less likely to pay for the premium Rift if they know they won't be able to complete it in time.

The concepts are great (if a bit niche), but for me the prerequisites are too much for basically all of them. Come and get me could just be on a cooldown (make the aura read longer for the killer in exchange maybe), apocalyptic ingenuity should only need 1 chest or be charged in the same fashion as flashbang and teamwork… Well that perk is pretty terrible and he already has a more usable version of it in come and get me.
The party pallet perk should definitely just require Survivors to open only the one chest. Or alternatively, they could also have the perk let you rummage through an open empty chest, but instead of getting an item like the other rummage perks, you charge up the perk.
Tbh, this is the only perk that really interests me from the Walking Dead chapter because it has the potential to be the most fun. I think they'll probably end up buffing it like they buffed Chem Trap and it still won't see much use. In the end, it's a silly meme perk that can be easily countered by respecting the pallet to bait the throw or by a Killer running Enduring.
-
He seems to be similar to Freddie in strength to me, but I rarely play either of these Killers so I'm not sure my opinion really counts for much. But I could see most players at least putting haste Clown in the top half of their personal Killer tier list.
I definitely didn't have Clown suddenly becoming one of the best Killers in the game on my 2025 DBD Bingo card, that's for sure. Freddie got a rework because he was terrible and the players asked for it, but who even asked for these changes?
-
I'm convinced by this theory! The fact that they've tried to obscure her face with the mask and hair style is more evidence to suggest they are an alternate reality version of the same person.
The other explanation is that they simply reused Sable's model for the basis of the character without changing her appearance all that much and then they called it a day, but this is more fun.
-
That's an interesting insight. Thank you for sharing. I've never really used this perk much myself, but I've been playing my way through the Survivor trilogy of Tomb Raider games and I've been thinking it would be an ideal perk to include in a lore accurate Lara Croft build.
If you've not played those games, the way that it highlights objects of interest in the immediate environment is very similar to the Survival Instinct mechanic in those games.
-
I love these games but nah, I don't think Mass Effect would be a good fit for DBD. The husks are kinda creepy, but it would be difficult to make a compelling Killer out of one of those and that's really the only proper horror element of those games imo.
Edit: Maybe a Banshee Killer could be kinda cool. But nothing else really stick out to me as a potential Killer.
Tomb Raider and Nic Cage were pretty tenuous additions to the game but Mass Effect would really be pushing it.
-
I love these things. They've got me to enjoy playing Survivor matches again. Never really been the kind to regularly bring items into trial (besides a med-kit for healing myself in Chaos Shuffle) but the fog vial has changed that.
I can definitely see why some Killers are not enjoying them, though I would personally rather face 4 vials over 4 beamers any day (assuming Lightborn isn't in the equation). Beamers are still a much more annoying item, at least to me anyway.

- The problem isn't Legion, but the absurd benefit all the killers in the game get from it. Oni is the strongest example, but Legion makes Nurse (for example) capable of one-hit downs (since everyone plays perpetually injured), effectively making Nurse even stronger here than she already is.
Don't forget that Legion don't have a reliable way to down Survivors with their power like the other Killers. A Legion unable to generate pressure is the worst Killer partner you could have in this mode. I've had Killer and Survivor games where this was the case but people act like having a Legion on the team is a free win for the Killers. It's not.
Granted, they might be able to down with their power a bit more often in 2 V 8 with more targets to chase, but all it takes is a well placed stun and then it's 15 seconds before they can try again.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can only think of Killers that got buffed in 2 V 8 and no other Killer has been nerfed as badly as this. There's no way these changes are for balance reasons, certainly not with all the other busted stuff that's allowed to exist in 2 V 8. It's happening because players complained about a Killer they find to be annoying.
-
I found a similar bug with Feng. She's folding her arms but still holding the vial. I doubt the Killer could have spotted this easily in their lobby.
-
I've been using Oily Sap with the Volcanic Stone because those two seem to be the most common in my blood webs so far. But to be honest, all of them seem pretty useful.
Anyone know any good Fog Vial builds to compliment their use? I'm thinking Lightweight, Sprint Burst and Quick and Quiet could be good combinations. Maybe with head on instead of SB to hop into a locker.
-
This patch is very under cooked. I know we expect some bugs with every update, but this is pretty bad even by DBD standards.
Honestly BHVR, your game will survive if you take just one extra week to cook new content if it needs a bit more time in the oven. We've only had a week or so since the last event finished (and even that should have been a few weeks of a Chaos Shuffle event that had to be cancelled). It's pretty clear they can't keep up with the current release schedule they have and still maintain quality control.
There doesn't need to be new content out 100% of the time for people to keep playing the game, especially since we've just had an influx of new players who won't be bored or tired of the base game just yet.
-
Just faced my first haste buffed clown. I'd love to know how they ever thought any of this was a good idea. If I'm being generous, the idea must have been to give him more map mobility, I guess. But then being better than average in the 1 V 1 does offset that weakness somewhat, so all I can do is shrug and wonder what they were thinking.
He wasn't so bad to play against after they reduced the visual effects that made me queasy, but this new version of Clown has gone right back on my hate to play against list. I don't know if he's been buffed enough to really help him all that much against very skilled or gen focused Survivors (if that was the idea), but I do know he's an absolute nightmare for low MMR Survivors who already find him to be near impossible to loop. And of course they're all running at least a couple of haste perks as well. Easily the worst experience I've had since release Kaneki.
-
Because I still love the game. It's got a unique game play loop that's not really like any other video game that I've played before. I don't think I'll ever stop playing completely. It will be a sad day when it's gone for good.
That said, I've definitely had my ups and down, as I imagine everyone else has. I try to play a lot less than I have in the past to keep my frustrations with the game from boiling over. Usually by trying out silly builds and walking away when I start to feel too invested in the outcome of my matches. I think the only way to stay sane playing this game is to know when you need to take a break.
Tbh, before DBD I always thought I would never be one of those people to spend real money on fake digital nonsense that I don't actually own, but I guess that ship has sailed now. All the time and money I've invested in the game might be part of what keeps me coming back. But I don't buy chapters for the sake of it. Only if they appeal to me, which is why I've not bought anything from the last couple of chapters. With the exception of The Ghoul, there's been a bit of content drought for me recently.

are you going to act like this if they add a new killer perk thats like old eruption or something? or are you going to acknowledge that stale healthy meta is better than new unhealthy meta
We've just had a string of very strong Killers added to the game that can make very good use of the best Killer perks that are already in the game. Personally, I think the current Killer design philosophy of creating high mobility Killers with multiple powers is also very unhealthy for the game but that's just my opinion.
Is the current meta really "healthy" as you say, or is it just a case of better the devil you know? I'm not really a meta gamer and I tend to run whatever I like. But you can't deny that seeing the same perks over and over again is something that a lot of players complain about.
As for MFT, I think it was the haste stacking with Hope that was the most unhealthy thing about it, not so much the perk itself. BHVR were going to do something about haste stacking, but players reacted badly to the planned changes so now we have to deal with Sonic the Hedgehog speed Clown, I guess. I get it, haste stacking builds are fun, but are they healthy? I'm not so sure.
So who gets to decide what's healthy or unhealthy? The players that shout the loudest about the things they don't like? Because to me, that's how it feels sometimes. Is being able to run 4 slowdown perks on a top teir Killer healthy? Is being a SWF on comms able to make the best use of certain perks (and get every info perk for free) healthy? Both of those are part of our stale but "healthy" meta right now. Everyone has different ideas about what's healthy or unhealthy for the game and the community will never be able to fully agree on what that balance is.
I'm just saying that sometimes I think the game might be better off if BHVR didn't always listen to us.
-
It's a frustrating trend, for sure. Players will complain about a stale Survivor meta, but then something new like MFT comes along to shake that up and they'll complain about the new perk even more. I liked OG MFT because it was a solid alternative to the standard exhaustion perks. It was harder to get real value from than Sprint Burst or Lithe, but you wouldn't have known that from all the complaints about the perk. Of course, after the nerf everyone just went back to their usual old exhaustion perks and so nothing ever changes.
While I think BHVR should listen to player feedback, sometimes I wonder if they listen to the feedback of the loudest, grumpiest voices in the community a little too often. It's honestly really hard to imagine a strong perk like Sprint Burst being introduced today without it being nerfed into the ground within months because of negative feedback.
The only perk from the current chapter that interests me is Rick party pallet one, because it would fit in well with the kind of fun but gimmicky build I enjoy. I would probably run it with Smash Hit / Chem Trap / Any Means Necessary. But I'll wait until it's in the Shrine because I think the activation requirements are way too much for a single use party pallet.

Those Killers are probably busted because of Legion.
How exactly are they nerfing Legion, though?
From what I gathered from the recent live stream, it sounds to me like they are reverting Legion into essentially the base game Legion for next 2 V 8. They will be able to down Survivors with their power sooner (kind of a buff, but not really). With the downside to that being they won't be able to chain hit as many Survivors, reach as many KI targets or cross as much of the map.
Big nerfs, tbh. Survivors will be able to knock them out of their power really early with all the pallets on the map before they can get up to speed and they'll arguably be a worse Killer than they are in the main game.
You are right, though. Players have convinced the devs that Legion is the problem and not the other absurdly buffed Killers. Not that 3 dash Wesker and turbo Oni needed any help from a Legion to do well, but it's whatever. I'm used to Legion being a bottom teir Killer and it won't stop me queuing up to play as them.
-
They're nerfing Legion!? So Wesker, Oni, Blight and Nurse get to be completely busted in this mode but not little old Legion. It will be the first time a Killer has been nerfed in this mode not because they're strong, but because all the other Killers are so ridiculous. Cool, cool… Thanks BHVR. I swear, Legion is not allowed to be a decent Killer in any game mode. So frustrating.
I'm glad to hear the guide class will be buffed to have something other than doing boring gens a bit more quickly. Plus I'll get to play some Survivor games before being destroyed with my main in every trial. So there's that at least.

We've had fog vials before. Everyone HATED them in the Halloween events. They hated them in the PTB. This isn't some "new thing that you need to get used to before we can judge."
Not only that, but if you "let it settle," then it's not going to get fixed for like 6 months. That's how Behavior does things. Anything that doesn't get fixed in the first patch or two lingers around for months or years.
Speak for yourself. I thought they made the Halloween event one of the best events. Fog vials are the reason why I'm actually excitied to play some Survivor games and that hasn't been true for a long time.
I do think maybe BHVR should design a perk to combat or nerf their effects, however. As a beamer hater, I will happily dedicate a quarter of my build to deal with them and I think Killers should probably have a similar option to equip for the Fog Vials.
-
Been pretty rough for me since mid event, tbh. Kill rate with my main has dropped to 47% and I'm struggling to get more than one or two kills in a Trial. Before that, things were just fine. I'm putting the difference down to an uneven distribution of players, with the Killer queues being so long.
There should be more Survivors returning to the game with this new patch, so hopefully I'll get more suitable match ups soon. Not sure I want to jump back into such a bug ridden patch just yet, though. I'll maybe wait for BHVR to hotfix the chase bug that prevents you from starting a chase (played a game against bots on my Switch last night and encountered this bug).
Besides, my PC is still downloading the update and I will only play Killer on PC these days because cross progression ruined Killer on Switch for me.
-
Got to be honest, her coughing SFX makes me chuckle.
looks like Stegull / Scene Partner Sheva and Mikey's goofy stun SFX now have some competition for the funniest sound in DBD.
-
Totally agree.
It's weird that they didn't add the ability to name cosmetic sets as well.
-
I'm curious about this too. Been watching some streams and nothing really seems all that different to me. I'm guessing it must be behind the scenes stuff that we won't really notice.
I'm hoping for improvements on Switch and I'll report if I notice any difference. Though I doubt I'll be playing much DBD today as I'm still downloading that beefy update!
Edit: The only thing I can see that's different is maybe a warmer overall colour temperature, with greens and yellows looking a bit more saturated.
-
With respect, to quite a few Survivor players Spirit is a Killer that has virtually no counter play at all. Lots of us play in front of a TV screen without headphones. If I get a Spirit, I'm just guessing and hoping that when I throw the pallet at a loop, I'm on the right of it or I get the stun. It's just pure luck. Sure, you can say it's my choice not to play with headphones, but what about the players that are hard of hearing who don't even have that option?
I don't think it's such a bad thing that Survivor can now bring an item to somewhat counter her power.
-
Matchmaking does feel different (for me, since mid event). But it's hard to tell if this is down to an uneven distribution of players post event (with many taking a break) or if BHVR is tinkering with the system a little bit.
After all, we do know they are looking at making changes to MMR and the only way to really test those changes out is on the live servers. While it would be nice of them to announce if they were doing some experimenting, I don't think they ever would.
Personally, I just assume BHVR often make unannounced changes to aspects of the game without fully informing the player base and will only fess up if enough public figures in the community make public statements about how different their games feel. I've not watched much DBD content recently, so I don't know if people who play this game for a living have noticed a difference too or if it's just the average scrubs like me.
Tbh, I think it's most likely to be down to a weird spread of players following the event and a lack of recent content to bring in an equal number of Killer and Survivor players. We've not had a full chapter for quite a while now and with 2 V 8 returning soon, I'm not sure things will begin to feel balanced again anytime soon.
-
I've gone past the point of caring all that much if I win or lose anymore, so I mostly run the perks I like or a silly meme build. Don't think I could keep playing this game otherwise.
I've come to the conclusion that there are far too many frustrating things about the way this game has been designed to take it seriously from a competitive stand point. Plus, I don't have the inclination to go digging into YouTube tutorials to try and really get better at the game. Of course I still try my best and I do run some meta perks as Survivor, just so I'm not a total liability to the team. I totally get why Survivors would run two anti tunnel perks as tunnelling is rife, but it's not something I often do myself because I hate being pushed into running specific perks because of the way other people play.
As Killer, I think most slowdown perks are exceptionally dull to play with (I tend to prefer a mix of fun perks and comfort perks whenever I play Killer). But I do run at least one on most of my Killers (except Billy) because the game is designed around some degree of gen slowdown and you can't realistically avoid it.
A substantial portion of the player base do seem to get much of their fun from going on win streaks and the like, so I guess winning is a big part of the enjoyment for them and meta perks obviously help you to win.
-
OK, so I came up with another build that I like to call the "Anything you can do (I can do better)" build. It leans heavily into their theme of sharing survivor like abilities. The idea behind it is to one-up the Survivors by countering all the things they can do, interact with or bring to a trial to frustrate your efforts. The build is:
Human Greed - To kick any opened chests shut and get aura reads.
Hex: Two Can Play - To blind Survivors.
Shattered Hope - To destroy boons (could combo this with Pentimento).
Trail of Torment (or Unforeseen) - To get rid of your red stain / terror radius. Buffed Insidious (from the upcoming patch) could be pretty good for this as well.
Add-on suggestions:
Stolen Sketch Book - To "steal" Survivor items.
Scratched Ruler - To get your power back quicker. Just a really good add-on in any build.
Etched Ruler - For some additional sneakiness.
BFFs - This is essentially the Survivor perk Hope but for The Legion. Goes well paired with the Stolen Sketch Book, since you'll probably Frenzy the same Survivor twice to make them drop their item and you can gain BFF stacks at the same time.
Choose a cosmetic that makes you resemble a Survivor the most (e.g. Susie's Fairview hoodie or Julie's Bush Party outfit).
To be clear, I think this build is objectively bad. So you've really got to be committed to meme or you probably won't have much fun with it. I doubt you'll be winning many trials with this build but it might be fun to try out when you don't feel like sweating.
-
Thank you for posting this. Some of the stand out responses for me:
Sounds like the Fog Vial might be DOA as I feared. I guess I'll have to see for myself how useless it's gonna be when it comes to live.
P100 reward is a badge. Bit disappointed by that, since I don't care much for badges and I would prefer a charm instead, but at least it's something.
Stealth is kinda dead (as we know) because the game has moved away from it as that's what the players want, apparently. I'm sorry, but what players? Personally, I'd like a balance of play styles. And if the game is to be about looping, why do so many maps have terrible filler pallets on the edge of the map and not much else between?
Glad to hear they are working on a better tutorial, though.
-
My first main was Myers. He's a horror legend and his presence in the game was what drew me to it. Myers and Leatherface were the first Killers I bought. Bubba was a struggle to play when I first started, but Myers is relatively straight forward to learn for a beginner. I had a ton of fun sneaking up on Survivors and pulling them off gens. But I quickly realised I'd have to throw every game if I wanted to stay in rock bottom MMR, since more experienced Survivors were way too aware of their surroundings. After a while, his play style became more about rushing to tier III as soon as possible and I didn't like playing him like that.
My next (and current) main was The Legion. I remember hiding in a locker on RPD and watching a Legion vault over a pallet chasing after a Survivor and from that moment I knew they would be my Killer. As a player that leans towards being a Survivor main, I love the idea of a Killer that has Survivor like abilities. I actually wish they could do other Survivor things, like interacting with chests and hiding in lockers, but that's a conversation for another thread. I love everything about them, from their cosmetics to their chase music and back story. They were my first and only P100 and are my most played Killer by far (44% pick rate). While you can play them more "seriously" and do quite well with the right builds, their game play loop is ideal for playing chill. You just can chain hits until you run out of targets and then you chase the Survivor in front of you and not think too much about anything else. They are the ultimate casual Killer, imo.
-
Damn… That's a real work of art. Honestly thought it was an official promo screenshot. Everything is perfect.

My last quest is stuck on 14/15 trials completed.
Have you tried both a Killer and Survivor game? Otherwise, I think this might be an issue you'll need to get in contact with support to help with. Hard to see this be fixed before the event is over.
Looks like there are some bug reports about quests not progressing, so maybe this will be resolved and BHVR are aware (and hopefully you'll still get the charm through a code).
-
For me, it's:
Mechanically tricky Killers, like Nurse and Blight (these Killers also make me feel queasy).
Xeno, because I play on controller and I'm absolutely useless with the tail. I genuinely do better if I don't even try to use it.
Pinhead (only bought him because he was leaving the game). I played one trial with him and absolutely hated it. Don't think I landed a single chain. Also hate playing against him, so that's another reason.
Any Killer that isn't The Trapper on Nintendo Switch.
There are also some Killers I will never, ever bother with because I know I won't be in for a good time (like Houndmaster and Singu).
-
What's the specific quest that you can't complete? I had two left in the end ("Complete 6 Twisted Masquerade Quests(s)" and the "Complete 15 trial(s)" one).
I've been able to get all 33 quests finished and you have to do all of them if you want the surfing crow.
-
Here are some silly meme builds I know of:
Enduring, Spirit Fury, Dissolution and Julie's Mixtape with the Iri Button is a fun pallet shredder build. Especially good on The Game (though obviously you can't guarantee that map with the offering anymore).
The fourth perk is your choice, but I always like to run Surge on Killers that get M1 downs because gens go kaboom.
Edit: Thwack! would go really well with this build too. I just totally forgot about it because I don't have Skull Merchant unlocked.
Tatariu's thief build looks like a fun troll build to run if you get a Survivor lobby where everyone brings an item. Not tried this one myself (don't have weave, but Human Greed is probably a good alternative and I do have that perk). Using it against a beamer/sabo squad for maximum effect would no doubt be pretty funny.
https://youtu.be/MTix_qbYPBA?si=OlVBatGL0oHD13KEI also enjoy running perks that expand Legion's terror radius (Distressing and Agitation). I call this the mobile disco build, because Survivors can hear your terror radius pretty much map wide all the time. It can also give you a pseudo undetectable effect, because Survivors get so used to being within your terror radius, they can't always tell when you are near (especially on an indoor map). Use line of sight blockers to sneak up on Survivors. Combo it with Infectious Fright and Susie's Mixtape (plus maybe a duration add-on), you can get some really good info with this build as well.
Sometimes I'll just combo my favourite mixtapes with this build, too. Joey's mixtape is a terrible add-on but it sounds so good with everything else.

I feel like we have modes that are close enough to "casual" to qualify already. With a few more modifications, I think they could become "true" casual modes. Chaos Shuffle has the most potential, but given that the anti slugging system they were going to test out has already gone back to the drawing board, I don't know what else they could be cooking up to take away the competitive edge.
I don't buy into the idea that because the sweats will always flock to a casual mode like moths to a flame, Behaviour shouldn't even bother with creating one. I think the downfall of any casual mode is the same for any of the other modifiers - the lack of a big enough player base to support one. This is the bigger problem imo. Casual modes in games like Fortnite work because they have a massive player base. Being a mature rated horror game and a bit niche, DBD will probably never be able to reach the critical mass of other live service games.

I've had some very rough games today. No or very few hooks, but then I have been playing at SWF O'clock with a D teir Killer and that's how my games usually go if I get Survivors that can actually loop and do gens. Things were so bad I hopped into some Survivor games to join in with the Survivor win streaking but nope, Killers are still winning all their trials in my Survivor games, so I just can't win today (literally).
The very long Killer queues are not helping matters. Makes it look like there's absolutely no MMR in this game. But then again I've always been sceptical about DBD's MMR system and believe it's so poor that most of the time it may as well not exist at all. You either stomp an opponent or they stomp you and there is very little in between.
Despite the success of the FNAF chapter, I think a large portion of the usual player base are missing from the game at the moment. I'm not sure why that is, but I think multiple patches of buffing Killer, buffing SWF and punishing players for getting into bad match ups can't be helping.

Nah, one corporation consuming another will not end well.
I was being flippant but I guess that doesn't really come across well on an Internet forum. I don't actually think a monopoly is a good thing but it's against forum rules to get political so I'll just leave it at that.

I kinda hope Disney buy Netflix one day (I mean they may as well, since they already own pretty much everything else).
Might be the only way we get a Squid Game chapter or Robin and Eddie from Stranger Things.

I think Batteries Included, Play With Your Food, Coup and Rapid Brutality are all pretty good on a mirror Myers.

The problem is that BHVR have barely addressed the common pain points that lead to players becoming frustrated and DCing. Hopefully we'll see something in the next phase but I definitely feel like they got the implementation order the wrong way around. It's funny to me that Killers are still rewarded for making a trial into a 3 V 1 as quickly as possible, but Survivors face a heavy punishment for doing the same thing. There are even cases of Survivors getting a matchmaking ban for being tunnelled out too quickly (though I'm not sure if that's still happening).
For what it's worth, I think the new system is successful in the sense that I've (personally) seen less Survivors DCing now. No doubt because they know there's a harsher punishment for doing it and/or repeat offenders have locked themselves out of the game for longer periods of time. But lots of players who know how quickly they can become frustrated have stopped playing as much as well, which I think is at least a partial explanation for why Killer queues are so long despite a healthy player count. Survivors and Killers still quit games, they're just being more subtle about it. Survivors will do things like allowing themselves to be grabbed off gens or Killers will turn friendly when they're losing.

I honestly haven't noticed any difference at all.
As Killer, I still win most of my games with my main. I do sometimes struggle to do well with Killers I'm less familiar or skilled with, but that's always been the case and to be expected.
People talk about the anti go next feature making a difference but I don't see it. In my experience, the only thing that it's succeeded in doing is making Survivors play out lost trials and maybe one of them gets the hatch. That's the only difference. Killers are still getting a 3K or 4K in most of my Survivor trials, unless the Killer is obviously new to the role or not running any regression.
What might have changed is that weaker, less skilled Survivors now play a lot less DBD because there's no way to leave a frustrating game and get into your next one. You HAVE to play every game to a conclusion. I got a hatch escape against a Wesker on Haddonfield today but I would have dropped on hook before anti go next, because there was absolutely no way the team were going to make any kind of comeback. Honestly, I would rather have been out of that match sooner than get the hatch escape, because the experience was still a miserable one. It's not just about escapes and kills, but about the fun factor (and I'm not having much of that on the Survivor side at the moment).
I think lots of low or mid MMR players are quitting or playing less, leaving only Survivors that are more dedicated or skilled left to keep playing. This might be what's causing Killer to "feel" like its gotten harder, even if it hasn't. Of course, this only applies to jaded "veteran" players. Newbie Survivors are probably still playing a fair amount because they have more stuff to grind BP for and aren't as burned out.

Eh I wouldn't be surprised if Trapper gets a human Frank Stone skin from closer to the beginning of the game and we get what we see at the end as a different character later on.
I just don't see BHVR creating a name for Frank as The Champion if they were never going to put him in but that will obviously take some time so this is just like an appetizer in the meantime.
This is also what I'm hoping. But to be honest, I would have thought BHVR had planned for a Frank Stone chapter to come to the game very soon after the original release of TCoFS, if that was ever going to be the case. So for that reason, I doubt they're actually working on one.
It would be so cool to have game play mechanic where the Killer can send out spectral projections of himself and the Survivors can use a super 8 camera to go into a first person perspective to zap them.

I think everyone who plays this game hits a wall like this eventually, where they feel like they've plateaued and can't rinse any more fun out of the game. You either find a way through that and continue to find enjoyment or you take an extended break that sometimes turns into a permanent one.
It's best never to get too attached or too reliant on certain perks or play styles. When I first started playing my main Legion a few years back, I used to heavily rely on defending a 3 gen to get my kills. This attritional strategy of grinding out a win probably wasn't all that fun for Survivors but it was how I liked to play until BHVR nerfed 3 genning. So I had to change up my play style to be more chase orientated, even though before their recent buffs Legion was a terrible Killer for this. But what I learned pressuring gens and figuring out where Survivors might be in my 3 genning days, I still apply in my games today. And I can still fall back to defending a 3 gen whenever it makes sense to do so, though not with as much success as before. On the Survivor side, I used to run MFT before the nerf and never used to touch exhaustion perks (back then it could not be used while exhausted). Now I run Sprint Burst instead and I've never looked back. If they nerf Sprint Burst, then I'll probably move on to Overcome or Smash Hit.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that all the things you've learned so far don't disappear because the game has moved in a different direction. You've still got the core skills that you've developed, you just need to adapt your builds, add-ons, play style and maybe even your preferred Killers. It also helps a lot to decide before the game begins that you don't really care what the outcome will be. Or to have one or two smaller goals in mind that you want to achieve (maybe that's getting value from a weird build or completing a challenge, that's up to you). I Plot Twisted in a bush in chase with a Nurse the other day and lost her (until a lore accurate Taurie gave me up). I still escaped but even if I hadn't, that would have been enough of a "win" for me.
All of this is easier said than done, but it's how I'm trying to approach the game these days.

Probably not much will change much for me. I main Legion and nobody bothers to heal against this Killer anyway, so I don't really care if Survivors bring med-kits (if anything, it's good for me because they waste time healing). And since my second main is Billy, his chainsaw doesn't care about med-kits either.
Never ever used Franklin's or any other perks that affect items, so I don't care if they've been nerfed (though I do use the Stolen Sketchbook Legion add-on in Chaos Shuffle to combat beamer saves). Honestly, I very rarely see Built To Last in my Survivor or Killer games, but maybe that will change next patch.
On the Survivor side of things, I'm happy to see Built To Last get a buff for my locker Dweet build. But otherwise, I don't use items outside the events, so it's not going to be a big deal for me. I'm looking forward to the new fog vial item and hoping it isn't nerfed to the point of being useless, but that doesn't even have charges so again, I still won't be bringing Built to Last.
Michonne's perks have the potential to make SWFs more obnoxious to face I guess, but I doubt they will do much for Solo Q. Still, only 2 decent perks out of 6 for a Survivor chapter is kinda sad (especially for a licensed chapter). Conviction is the only good perk for Solo Q, imo.
In any case, if BHVR are buffing Survivor quite a bit this patch it suggests that Killer is over performing right now. Maybe they're trying to do some rebalancing and this is not a bad thing. Maybe I'm not worried because I don't often see a lot of (or care about) what other players complain about. I'm not an especially sweaty Killer and consequently, I don't care if I lose some of my Killer games.
-
I don't see it either. Just the usual mix of the top 20 meta perks plus whatever else Survivors like to run sprinkled in.
I did see We'll Make It in a fair number of my recent games, but that hasn't had any buffs recently and is a good perk available to new players, so not really a huge surprise to see it often.
-
I'm a big Diversion enjoyer, so that's a common pick for a lot of my meme builds. It's always fun to turn around and throw a pebble at an especially sweaty Killer. Plot Twist and Bardic Inspiration feature quite often, too. Mirrored Illusion can be fun to use on an exit gate, then you try to sneak around to the other gate to get the escape (though I've never actually pulled this off. One day it will work, I swear).
Chemical Trap is a fun perk to bring to the event, especially if they use an invitation to remotely break a pallet but they don't realise it's there.
With the exception of Plot Twist, I think all of these perks are kinda terrible. But they're fun and sometimes give me a chuckle, so who cares?
-
Aww man, that's kind of a bummer. I love Chaos Shuffle and much prefer it to the Anniversary event.
Ah well, it is the last ever Twisted Masquerade after all and we do see Chaos Shuffle return fairly often, so it's not so bad if you think about it like that.
-
I've got a 35% escape rate and I use those perks. Trust me, it's not the perks that are getting these players escapes. Maybe more players have finally caught on that Botany + Self-Care is a solid combo?
I do find SWFs tend to run very similar or near identical builds, so maybe that's a factor as well?
-
I've not been feeling DBD recently, either. But the upcoming patch has me more excited to play than any other patch in recent times (aside from the Legion buffs in 8.6.0). I can't wait to try out the new Fog Vial. But I'm trying not to get too excited about it, because there's been a lot of feedback in the PTB forum that if followed, would essentially kill the item completely. I really, really hope they don't come to the live servers DOA. It's about time we had something to shake up the Survivor game play loop.
That said, this is BHVR we're talking about. Maybe they'll ignore the feedback anyway and let the wider player base give their verdict on the item. After all, they did let the OG Ghoul come to live and we all know how busted they were on release.
