no but im on a streak of 100 games without seeing all perks, the only perk remaining is calm spirit lol, wonder how long it will take to see one. Most seen perk is windows of opportunity 40% chance to have at least one

Tbf Calm Spirit is utter trash.

  • My games we all spawn pretty close together unfortunately.

Friends, I understand there is little logic in doing this, but… I played about 10 matches yesterday (200k bp per match on survivor), bulk spent the BP on one char and got about 100 cakes… why are we complaining here? You always get back more cakes than you use in offerings. Unless you are extremely unlucky in your solo lobbies not dropping cakes at the offering, in combination with you playing very poorly and thus getting low points…

I got Sable to P3 with the anniversary and ended up with 63 cakes. It's a problem because RNG has been really bad for alot of us.

I haven't once seen a strong killer that didn't receive daily calls for nerfs. It's one thing for people to call for nerfs, its another when the Devs actual do in the name of fun and interactive.

The only complaint Billy got back in the day was instasaw. Wesker only got complaints because people got tired of seeing him 7 out 10 matches. Can't recall anyone complaining about Oni. Like I said most people enjoy strong killers that feel fair to face.

The best toolbox in the game is the Engineer's Toolbox with max charge addons. It gets the most charges into the generator the quickest.

Engineer's with max charge addons: 100% repair speed with 36 charges

Commodius with max speed addons: 100% repair speed with 32 charges.

If you're doing a full gen the two are basically a wash. You'll save an extra .34 seconds assuming you're running double charge addone on both.

@topic the Mechanics toolbox is hot garbage imo. I'd never bring it personally.

Top killers can't be nerfed without nerfing the things top teams use to beat them, which would have catastrophic effects on the playerbase as a whole. You think survivor feels bad now? Imagine everything you hate about the role but 10x worse now because you wanted to nerf killers that are rare to face to begin with.

Moreover, Nurse and Blight are so disproportionately strong because they have actual map pressure and time efficiency baked into their kits. Other killers do not, and that's the root of the problem. No matter how much you buff certain killers, they won't ever be good because their powers don't fit into the game correctly. The only killer not commonly considered S tier that could compete with Nurse/Blight levels of viability is Hag, but she's more map dependent and therefore less consistent than those two.

Variety in dbd exists because "high MMR" is really just a soft cap that everyone and their mother reached when it was added to the game to begin with, so everyone is technically the same rank and there's no matchmaking. I don't care how good you say you are, no one is facing constant cracked Nurses or SWF teams. This game simply doesn't have the matchmaking for that to happen. That's why you see such long winstreaks and high killrates from good killers. I can count on one hand the number of times I've faced a good team in the past two YEARS. It's rare, because this game has a large playerbase and there's nothing to make good players face other good players.

TLDR: Nerfing strong killers is a waste of time because it will only hurt player numbers, buffing weak killers is a waste of time because it'll never make them strong unless you break something big, and no one is actually affected by this so-called "lack of variety" because there's no matchmaking system to speak of.

While it'll be hard (likely impossible) to close the gap that doesn't mean it would be pointless. Making the weak killers stronger will make them actually feel good to play as. Yeah Trapper will never be competing with Nurse for the top of S tier but making him more viable seems like a worthwhile venture to me.

    @Mr_K said:

What would you buff about Trapper? When people bring up this "gap" between killers they always wanting to nerf the top but not raise the bottom. You at least said buff the bottom but how?

Odd that you would bring up Billy. When people talked about Nurse being #1, Billy was always #2. What you are asking them to do with the top is what the did to Billy. Face it, survivors don't want strong killers. Any killer we get that's above average is called broken and demanded to be nerf. Trapper is not the low end. It's what they want as normal.

I find this to be completely untrue. Most everyone was very upset when Billy got nerfed all those years ago. The majority of survivors like facing strong killers. They just want them to be at a level where they feel like there's a fair chance.

Because he is popular. Popular killers get played more than others. Some want to grind the achievements but grabing survivors in the control room is proving difficult.

This happens with every new killer that becomes popular. Being sick of a killer is still not an excuse to ruin the game for four other players.

Didn't say it was. I'm simply offering a possible explanation.

all of two seconds is what it used to take, now it take about 45 seconds per survivor.

I have nearly 20 survivors I haven't even bought, and I feel like I might be on the higher side of how many I own tbh.
So to comb through about 60 signature perks before I can even gather information to make a purchase dissuades me from even bothering and continuing to just hit the shrine.

Maybe it's an agree to disagree thing, but I literally cannot find myself to purchase characters with the removing of that mechanic. I'm not trying to blow this into a bigger thing than it really is or try to cause an unnecessary uproar. But as a consumer I cannot bring myself to make an uninformed purchase, and like I said I genuinely don't see how they took random steps backwards when it comes to QOL and monetization.

With the spaghetti code of this game it's just as likely a bug as it was intentional.

Yeah nobody seems to enjoy facing him.

  • Might just be sick of Springtrap. God knows I am

  • So how are people going to finish the anniversary stuff?

  • Agreed. I wish they'd remove them along with hatch and basement spawn offerings.

  • About as simple and straightforward as something like this can be. One important tip I'd add is to remain calm and not to worry about the end screen results. You won't get better if you allow yourself to get tilted.

  • You're probably correct about what they were doing but you can't prove it so not really worth reporting.

  • There was an audio bug tied to interacting with the doors. That plus the risk of being caught makes them not really worth using right now.

That's nice in theory. In reality, every time a survivor escapes they go out of their way to be as obnoxious as possible about it.

Some do sure but I deeply don't care about that. They can act like idiots all they want. It really doesn't matter.

  • Because too many people think the 4k is all that matters. I used to stress out a bit playing Jason in my F13 days. I felt like if I didn't wipe the entire lobby I failed. Once I got past that I found it pretty relaxing and enjoyed going for cool plays. At this point with DbD I just aim for a good match. Not getting my teeth kicked in nor completely steam rolling the survivors.

Botany is the king of self heal builds now. Numerous amazingly good combos. My best thus far is: -

    • Botany
    • Resurgence
    • Medkit with the 2 8 charge add ons.

Gives you 1 complete full heal in about 15.4s, and 2 heals off hook within 4.62s all for just common and uncommon add-ons. In some ways this better than the old syringe and 8 charge add-on bulld with BK and Resurgence, because you can heal yourself to full any one time you get injured, rather than having to burn the syringe and lose later heals.

I still maintain this is now the king of healing perks, and that is fundamentally flawed design, since Botany gives you access to great self healing and pretty much as good altruistic healing as any other perk all on 1 perk slot.

It makes so many other altrusitic helaing perks redundant, and also any self healing perks like Self Care, Strength in Shadows and Plot Twist basically meme perks, because they all pale in comparison for value.

Though I will admit I still have fun building around it, cause I can just not take a medkit if I don't want to play meta cheese.

I have to disagree that it's the king of healing perks. At least not the undisputed king. It's the best all around healing perk imo. However there are others that are better for different situations.

@topic I do believe the "new healing meta" is being overblown. Desperate Measures went from okay to a little more okay. As Jesterkind pointed out Botany Knowledge got a buff that didn't really change much from a practical standpoint. I'll allow for the possibility it could become problematic (it's too early to say though). Resurgence while strong isn't really problematic imo. It can only happen at most twice per match per survivor. Honestly I consider it more an anti tunneling perk than a healing perk.

  • Fr, I really don't enjoy that map.

Then you learn the way most of us did. By playing the game.

I'm starting to think what is being pushed here would be more detrimental than helpful to new players. When I play a custom match it is usually to point out a bug or test out if a bug's been patched. A custom match with bots is fine but it doesn't help me come up with strats against actual players. In fact it only enforces learning how the AI works and how to manipulate it. Not really useful when it comes to real human players.

Personally I use them to learn how a new power works/shake off the rust if it's been a while.

No. We need a darker, danker Swamp.

I LOVE the Swamp maps. They are a million times more atmospheric than just about any of the others. It is an absolute joy to play on for Survivor and Killer, imo at least. It actually feels like being in a murky, hot Swamp. The cattails, the rotting wood of the structures, all of it just blends together fantastically.

Would hate to see this map get reworked into a bright map. Wish they hadn't done Coldwind so dirty and turned it into an afternoon walk in the park. They could've gone for dusk instead and made the map really awesome. Instead I feel like tossing on some tanning oil and lounging around rather than playing. Wouldn't have to be dark, just dusky and gloomy.

I hate the bright maps. Really kills any horror feeling.

  • @Lixadonna said:

Nothing has changed about Healing other than that one Felix Perk and even that sucks for Healing. Almost seems like now that Map Offerings have been gutted the goalpost has been moved.

Botany Knowledge was buffed for self heals with the removal of the negative to medkit charges. It can make self healing alot less painful. I don't feel it has the impact others claim though.

Desperate Measures isn't bad by any means. In the worst case scenario it's plus 20% to healing and unhook speeds. More often than not it'll be 40% or higher whenever it gets used.

  • It's not because in the worst case scenario you'll bleed out within four minutes. I'm not saying it's a fun experience. Imo there should be something introduced to counter act this. Either a basekit Unbreakable that takes quite a while. Perhaps after being slugged for 60 seconds (or longer if that ends up being too fast) you can finish picking yourself up. Or an option to bleedout faster once there's only two survivors left.

In short while it's not a fun experience the game isn't being held hostage.

I haven't played 2v8 so maybe I'm wrong but aren't only certain killers available for the 2v8 mode? If that's the case BHVR might be waiting until they have every killer ready before launching that feature. Assuming they have plans to do so at all that is.

  • You're not buying your own escape rate stats or someone else's? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make tbh.

  • They have the same problem that Boons do. You either have to make them so weak that nobody will use them. Or you need a downside so bad that nobody runs them. I'm honestly not sure what can be done to balance them.

Most PvP games balance for the top because people can always get better and improve; if balanced for the average leaving the top unbalanced then there’s nothing those top players can do except accept it or quit playing.

I'm not saying there aren't improvements that can be made to even things out for higher tier players. However you can't have those players as your main consideration. If you do you'll end up alienating the majority of your players as they aren't alot of truly high tier players and never will be in DbD.

  • I miss old Spine Chill but it really wasn't fair to stealth killers. It could use a buff for sure though.

    Let's be real. It's 10 seconds. It's barely anything.

I don't talk about all slowdown, because the post isn't about all slowdown… it's about regression, because regression is the subclass of slowdown that I've seen actively get butchered over the years. Blocking and repair penalty were never the top dog and never really that relevant up until the more recent years of DBD, so I have no reason to speak on them.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3954311#Comment_3954311

Same thing happened with CoB. It was 200% the whole time and didn't start seeing use until later.

It saw use when the entire meta shifted to gen kicking. A Resurgence heal (assuming someone else is healing you) takes 4.8 seconds. With Botany it goes to 3.2 seconds. 1.6 seconds isn't enough time to shift the entire meta. I'm not saying these aren't good perks. I'm just not seeing the massive shift you are. Maybe I'm wrong and this will be a problem. Either way I feel it's too early to say for sure.

  • @Rapid99 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3954269#Comment_3954269

Because regression actually sets BACK the progress of the survivor objective. Blocking doesn't set them back, it just means they'll go to a different gen. There's also the problem that most of the blockers don't actually do that. deadlock is really the only one. Grim embrace is inconsequential up until the 4th hook. DMS requires pain res.

Wretched fate only slows down one person and even then it's slowing them down compared to forcing them back. it's a large difference imo.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3954271#Comment_3954271

yes so it's a healing buff…??? A self healing buff at that. And then you have the buffs to desperate measures on top of that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3954281#Comment_3954281

I've started to see a WHOLE lot of botany. regardless the shift isn't going to happen immediately, it'll take time for people to realize just how busted it is. Especially resurgence. immediate 70% progress off of hook is ridiculous, it makes healing off of hook instead of taking the usual time, it's like 2-3 seconds. It shaves off SO much time.

Hasn't Resurgence been 70% for quite some time though? I would think if it was having the effect you believe it does we'd have seen it before now.

  • Obviously without seeing the games it's hard to say what exactly the problem you're facing is. However there are two things I can see. The first is the afk system forced survivors onto gens harder. This of course will mean faster gens. The second is your build doesn't have alot of synergy. You seem to be trying to cover all your bases but some of the perks you're using directly interfer with one another.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3954143#Comment_3954143

One perk had a downside removed and suddenly people think it's a healing meta.

Maybe, just maybe, it's the fact that the devs pushed out not just one, but two poorly concieved mechanics this patch that both hard punished survivors for not doing gens. Probably has something to do with people focusing on gens more right now.

Nah, that can't be it. Clearly we need to find a survivor nerf in here somewhere.

Tbf Desperate Measures also got buffed. I disagree with Rapid99's assessment of the situation but I won't dismiss the possibility of it being a problem either. Personally though, I do believe the more likely answer is survivors were forced to focus on gens harder than before.

  • I haven't been seeing a bunch of healing perks in my games. Obviously that doesn't mean it's not happening at all but it just doesn't seem to be the issue it's being made out to be. If healing is an issue in your matches I suggest bringing Sloppy Butcher. At a minimum it will slow those heals down a bit and with some luck it can decimate Resurgence.

  • @Rapid99 said:

Healing got buffed. Less time spent healing = more time on gens.

Plus gen regression perks being awful across the board.

People keep saying that but I barely see any healing perks. I've had six in my last ten matches. 3 Resurgence, 2 Self Care, and 1 Botany Knowledge. Hardly a wave of faster healing.

If you balance around average players then what do you do when those players get better and it makes the game unbalanced?

The vast majority of player will fall into the average range. Truly great players are a rarity. That said yes the top tier players will probably feel an unbalanced match more but that's the problem with PvP and ASYM games. You'll basically always have that issue even with good match making. Ultimately you have to balance things in a way that gives the most people the best experience you can give them.

But there’s literally a comment in this thread saying killers can’t lose if they play like streamer one trick killer mains, both sides should be balanced the same so if you want to balance killer gameplay around the top 1% who play as their job, then you have to do the same for survivor to be fair.
If you’re balancing around average survivors then you can’t expect killers to play to a level you don’t think is fair to expect of survivors.

Sure you can’t lose if you play like a streamer who plays as their job full time but the same applies to both sides which people don’t admit.
It’s always killers are too strong as this streamer can go on streaks, but balance around average survivors as you can’t expect them to play like survivor streamers who go on streaks.

Yes it applies to both sides. Balancing around top tier players on either end is a bad idea.

This is a naive mindset. Perks become much stronger when you pair them with the right perks and adjust playstyle. Most cases of people calling perks "bad" is just a self-report on not knowing how to make good use of it.

It's not naive to recognize there's alot of perks that just suck. Can you make interesting builds with them sure. They can be fun and if you get the right situation they'll seem to be really strong. Unfortunately those builds are ultimately gimmicks that won't help you win in the majority of cases.

  • @jedimaster505 said:

I used a combination calculator to see how many unique builds you can create with 4 perk slots.

If you have only 3 perks, the most unique builds is 1, obviously.

If you have 10 perks, you can create 210 unique builds.

But if you have 50 perks, you can create 230300 unique builds.

100 perks is 3921225 unique builds.

I now have unlocked 135 survivor perks which gives me access to 13232835 unique builds. This number is so staggering that I've only scratched the surface of testing what is possible. But if I unlock Orela with Iri shards then I get access to 3 new perks. Which allows me to create 14463090 unique builds as survivor. So just by unlocking a measly 3 new perks I am really unlocking 1,230,255 new builds.

Notice the disparity…from 3 to 10 perks, I get only 209 new builds. But from 135 to 138 perks, I gain 1,230,255 new builds. This means that you get increasing return on your investment every time you unlock another perk.

If I unlock all 149 survivor perks, I can potentially create 19720000 unique builds.

So with every perk that you unlock, the number of unique builds you can potentially create skyrockets, allowing for more diverse and original playstyles. Sure, many of these perk combinations may have bad synergy, but there are so many possibilities that many of the builds are bound to be very strong yet rarely used because no popular streamer has made a video about it. Basically, it is possible to have a player "personality" as both killer and survivor by choosing a strong build that hasn't been advertised by popular content creators.

I find it quite ironic that despite the immense possibility, you tend to see the same carbon copy builds that require zero brainpower to use like Corrupt Intervention, Lethal Pursuer, Grim Embrace and Pain Res. Zzzzz….zero originality. Boring to play against yet easy and predictable to counter for High MMR survivors that know what they're doing too. Don't get me wrong, survivors are just as guilty of mindlessly copying builds from the content creators they idolize. But seeing a build like that on a Blight or Kaneki is so incredibly lazy that is makes for the perfect example of the mediocrity that dominates the current meta.

That's because alot of perks are either terrible or only work as gimmicks.

i mean it's obvious that BHVR has been gaslighting us around this issue

we know survivors d/c at high rates. these games are often 3/4ks for killers.

we also know that BHVR removes these games from their stat totals

they tell us averages but they don't tell us is what we really want to know - just how effective are the best killer players in the game?

we can watch twitch and see it for ourselves. lillithomen loses maybe 1 game with blight per 1000 games. onepumpwilly just goes on a 210+ winstreak with trapper. at the very top of the game the best killer players are just rampaging and feasting >99% of the time and it's clear. when the ceiling is so high that you basically can't lose if you know how to play it does show just how poorly balanced the game really is.

You can't balance around the top tier players. Imagine how painful survivor would be if the devs balanced around survivors playing like Hens or Ayrun.

That would be far too powerful, really. And I don't want killers to have to bring a perk on the off chance that survivors bring a boon. It's bad enough survivors have to do that with anti-tunnel stuff.

I don't think it would be far too strong though. Most of the Boon effects are pretty weak or are too situational to warrant the time setting one up takes. Especially if you have to light the Boon repeatedly.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 117
