  • I turned it off. Its a completely different game with console team mates. They will immediately walk out of end game. I've noticed the killers tend to tunnel harder as well.

  • I'm fine with everything except killers being able to grab at the hook. Turn that off and the problem is somewhat solved for me.

  • You play your own way and throw a fit when it doesnt work. Do you really think this forum is going to be a soft place to land? Grow up.

  • I love this about Rust. It would be fun for Dbd .

The whole point of the Bloodweb is to be random.

As killer you want to see flashlights in every game? Cause that's how you see flashlights in every game.

I hate moris. Most killers are loaded with them. I think if you are going to offer an item that you need to balance around it. Not use RNG to avoid it.

I think the whole 'blood is random' is a load of crap. It's 1000% a grind mechanism. If I grind out 1million BPs, I think I should have slightly more control on this. Killers too!

  • I swear a new bug is found every day with this game.

  • From my experience, if you are queuing outside of primetime gaming hours you will get this. I get good queues 6-8 cdt and 1800-2200 cdt. I am NA based.

  • I'd say start him with more traps. All? Nope.

  • Iri huntress is cancer. Other than that, nfi why people are crying.

Well I'm referring to people like the ones I quoted, literally trying to act like the OP is just plain old saying "I just hate diversity and it has no place in any media."

It's that kind of attitude that makes people actually take up attitudes like that, because they feel like that's all the other side cares about: their agenda.

I just think people need to stop demonizing each other when they obviously aren't trying to be hateful. Some people just need some discussion to set their mind on the right path and like I said, just calling somebody buzzwords and trying to lump them in with people that are actually crappy is just... Divisive, simply put.

I agree with you 100% here. Very well stated.

  • Imagine a development team that goofs on their own 4 year anniversary. Do you really think one of the most busted and abused killer mechanics is going to be fixed anytime soon? Nope! I have been hit completely out of Huntress LOS so many times. I just have to roll my eyes.

  • Yawwwwwn with that level of entitlement you belong with the survivors. ######### back off to your moms basement.

  • DS like Legion, and myers abuse solo / mediocre teams. From what I see in my games, they find the weakest looper and force everyone into a small radius to start brawling / saving.

I think others have made great points on how to counter: avoid clear LOS, constantly be on the lookout / tracking him mentally, and run spine chill.

I think DS should have multiple shots with a pump action shotgun style mechanic between the shots with the reload taking more time once out of ammo. JMO and I play mostly survivor.

  • I don't play toxic as a survivor, and most killers are not scummy. The event has been really fun. I don't teabag, DS, flashlight spam, and I actually try to help my team mates.

  • Thank god people started chiming in and debunking the MUH SC IS BAD OMFG YOU ARE TERRIBLE GET OUT attitude. Holy ######### ya'll.

  • I run self care + empathy at high ranks. I am constantly looping the killer, taking protection hits, and pulling people off hooks...it's terribly effective.

Here's what I've found: Red ranks are filled with people that can only do gens. If you keep the killer out of their face, you win a lot.

Build: Spine chill + Iron will + empathy + SC

Whether we win or lose, the killer usually had fun due to all the craziness instead of someone just urban evasioning in the bushes.

I used to play that way. Then I got tunneled off hook repeatedly. So I use DS ONLY when they try tunnel me. I cannot stand people who make the killer chase them to a locker to get a free DS.

That's a really good point, and I agree with it. For me, the moment someone starts tunneling I go straight scummy survivor mode.

  • I never run it. I play to have fun. Not make people miserable online. Try it sometime.

  • Where is this rule book you speak of?

  • I use it all the time. It definitely smokes the whole "OMG WHY ARE PEOPLE HEALING WHEN PLAYING LEGION" etc....

  • Got Mori'd off the first hook last night. BHVR sucks for this.

You give someone the power to:

depip someone in 5 minutes (so effing stupid)

    ruin the game

I say this about keys too. Get rid of them. How much does a community have to complain about these items before something is done?

  • If I see someone run towards a hooked team member from the gate, I give it a certain amount of time and take it from 99 to open. It will usually flush the killer out to try to force me out while giving them space.

I agree 99'ing isn't really necessary depending on what's going on in the match.

  • Does bhvr even qa/qc iits code ? Every thing is a complete shitshow.

  • I faced a billy earlier that hit me with a chainsaw 6ft + away. My latency was 66ms. VPN? Freaking sucks.

  • Get rid of both of them. Bring in concepts that make the game more complicated than genrush vs. bbq/chili.

I can't understand why people are racing to get out of the game with moris / keys. The fun on either side is an intense back and forth build up to where one side wins. When that happens (I feel like), the majority of people walk away satisfied whether it was 2k, 4k and/or some survivors escape. JMOO YMMV.

  • I support this.

Are you asking if the gen speed back in the day was slow enough where people worked on totems? Sorry if I misinterpret what you're asking but totems didn't exist when the game was released. NOED was therefore not tied to a hex totem and lasted permanently once activated. Of course that was until it was nerfed to last for 2 mins. Hex Ruin didn't exist either until the Hag was released.

Gen speed was also so, so much faster than today's gen speeds. I don't have the exact figures however gens could be done very quickly. Hex ruin didn't exist, great skill checks benefited you even more than they did pre-nerf. But... hooks never respawned early on in the game. Hence horrible survivors (like me) MIGHT have been distracted from gens as we were busy maining Jake and saboing a bunch of hooks that never respawned. (I personally did it because you got a good amount of boldness points for it back then and you didn't have to be chased, so that was nice).

So to answer your question, genspeed was not slow back in 2016, especially since pre-nerf BNP's existed. Killer's couldn't regress gens, there were no tailored perks killers could use to slow down gens like PGTW and Ruin. The only reason games may have lasted a long time is because we were all noobs back then, missing skill checks and being afraid for our lives every time we heard a faint TR. And because saboing was super useful back then and hence distracted us from gens.

Thank you so much for your thorough response :)

  • For the love of god, can people please stop with the run X perk to counter Y killer?

If the lobby showed both sides, people could choose perks that best fit the killer they're going against. Or better yet, they hate doctor. They don't have to waste their time against a Doc, Freddy, spirit or whatever FOTM circus is going on. It would probably give BHVR metrics as to what their players like and don't like. And I don't know, maybe develop a game where both sides have fun??

And before someone calls me an entitled survivor main, I play both sides, and I would be fine with it.

  • My play went from a lot to very little due to what you have above. When every match is frustrating or buggy, I was like why the heck am I doing this to myself. This is supposed to be fun.

  • Most things killers do that I think are scummy can be explained away with "it's a strat" more or less.

Teabagging, sweaty builds, overuse of flashlights/keys, and finger pointing are scummy and legal too. I don't do it. I want both sides to have fun.

  • Deathslinger is weak rn...Tbh buff the dude

  • Sandbagging is scummy AF. Call em out!

  • @Rivyn said:

Sounds like you want the killer to walk to the other side of the map and wait for a rescue.

I don't really take the entitlement attitude. I don't run sweaty builds. So no, I don't want free hooks. I think I am going to let people die on hook more often now. It seems that is what a % of killers are truly after anyway. It's a mori without the perceived salt.

  • @Mister_xD said:

why would i as a killer give up on a hook when i know someone is around?

like, why would all these big content creators give up on hooks when they know someone is around? and why wouldnt they return when someone pulls off their mate within their direct proximity? their job is to kill the survivors, so when these do stupid plays they can - and should - punish them for it.

and if your answer is that "every content creator just camps their prey without any proof of someone around" that would be a flat out lie.

I completely understand the point. My point with content creators was that they punish people unhooking a lot. I didn't say camp. I guess I am no longer ignorant that I should be expecting this every time I feel altruistic.

    Your words, not mine:

"I watch all the main youtube killers. They all do this in the majority of their matches."

You claimed all huntress in majority of matches, hook someone and then stand there with axe ready, that is simply not true. You can try and spin it how you want, but using terms like "all" and "majority" prove you have no clue what you are talking about as a survivor main, you probably confusing "patroling" with camping.

I apologize for being unclear. I edited the post. I think the point I was ultimately trying to make was they will force a hit on most people trying to unhook someone.

  • @Elcopollo said:

The way you talk about it makes me think that you didn't actually watch that much of mentioned streamers.

Agressive camping/tunneling and checking the places where you know for a fact the survivors must be are two different situations. First one is a weak strategy, the second one is simply a smart thing to do. Streamers you mentioned don't tend to avoid fairplay (and if you watched at least one full stream of theirs, you should know that), they just know how the game works and how both sides (survivors and killers) are thinking, so they do the most of this knowledge and select the most viable option at the moment. If they tunnel, then they either need an immediate pressure or the survivor that's being tunneled is running towards them non-stop - they don't tunnel on purpose every match just for the sake of it so they can get easy early kill (well, Scott, Otz, Tru3 and Jaee do not; I don't watch Umbra, so can't say for her, though I'm sure she doesn't do that too).

Also, not a single Hag main puts more than 1-2 traps around the hook, putting "15 traps" is simply a braindead tactic. You can watch Michi, for example, if you want to see an adequate Hag-main plays.

And mowing down two people near the hook is one of the most adequate and smart things you can do as Bubba. Once again, though, streamers you mentioned don't just wait near the hook for the saviour-survivor on purpose to get two people killed. They patrol the perimeter, because they know that wasting time like that will give them nothing but a loss. And if during their patrol they see the process of unhooking in front of them - they turn on the chainsaw, because that's basically a free hit, so why shouldn't they?

I think the thing I see with a lot of killer main streamers / yters is that they are going to get a hit on the unhooker a high % of the time. I am completely fine with that, but in solo, it's just brutal af to deal with.

  • @Dehitay said:

Both that Huntress and Hag would be easy to play around to get the unhook. And if they're wasting their time after hooking, that actually makes it easier on survivors who don't hook bomb like they shouldn't be doing in the first place.

50 ft is actually enough distance from Bubba to get an unhook and get away. I assume you mean a bit closer. There's not really much you can do against him to get the unhook if he's hard camping. Once you figure out what he's doing, just do gens as fast as possible and ignore the hook unless you have reason to believe he's left. It's an annoying playstyle, but those people can only go up in rank if you let them and once you get higher, you won't get them since that tactic only leads to depips against good sruvivors.

Freddy patrolling the hook isn't going to be that much different than any killer patrolling the hook. Work on gens if you know what he's doing. But that distance is enough to get an unhook which should really only be done right before the hooked survivor is about to go into the next stage. If he's using his time near the hook, abuse it as much as possible which means you have about 20 seconds free before you need to worry about the hook stage progressing. This tactic is good against hook bombing, but bad against gen rushing.

When I have good team mates, this behavior gets punished pretty hard. In the past, I have been way too altruistic thinking my team mates would talk ######### post match if I didn't. Now, I am much more gen and heal focused. The outcomes have improved as well.

  • @JustCats said:

It's a min/max strategy that crops up once everybody knows the score. Killers can't do anything except show/chase/hook. They get their advantage once survivors start dying.

Tunneling and camping are just doing "too much" of the only thing killers can do. If they had other, equally productive ways to affect the outcome of the match, you'd see less of it. Unfortunately, with the level of second chance perks that survivors can load up on, chasing is usually a win/win for survivors at this point unless the killer gets a down.

This is really good point. I think that's why I've tried to really change my play around unhooking my team mates... No running straight at the hooks. Taking my time, let the killer lose time / get off the hook, and then go in for it.

So what youre complaining about is proxy camping. Sometimes its a bad call, sometimes its a good call, just depends on the scenario. In either case, if youre red or purple by now you should understand its just a strategy that can be good or bad just like pallet looping. Pallet looping legion, good. Pallet looping snare freddy while youre asleep, bad. You do need to get over it, your messages wont change a killers behaviour

Yup, I just say gg's or click continue. I try not to argue with people in the post chat.

I can't comment on anyone but Otz and Scott, but generally what they're doing is checking the areas survivors are likely to be that were close to the hook. It's not as though they're just standing there waiting for an attempted save, but instead are going "ok, check this gen, check that gen, the next gen I want to check is on the other side of the hook so I have to pass by it..." It's not camping if you're patrolling areas that the survivors could be putting pressure on that also happens to be near the hook.

Using my Wraith play as an example: I use thrilling tremors and Make your Choice all the time on him. If TT tells me that a gen is being worked on, I'm beelining over there. If it's on cooldown still or if all gens got blocked, I patrol in a rough circle so that MYC is active looking for anyone to interrupt. If the save happens before I find someone in either case, it's objectively a bad choice to ignore that and try to find someone else, I'm coming back for the MYC target. I've had people accuse me of camping with this strategy because to them it looks like I'm just waiting for the save for EZ downs, but in truth I just didn't find anyone else and the point of saving has now become my best option to apply pressure.

This is exactly the kind of response I was looking for. Thank you for your input.

So post videos of "all" youtubers doing all the above,.... you cant. Show me the vids that prove "all youtubers who play huntress hook camp"

you cant, because its not true.

No, that wasn't what I said. I said I see YTer 'proxy camping' often.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Not a killer main. But I've noticed the amount of proxy campers seems to have increased. I'm like bruh don't you get board running in a circle around me? This ######### ain't Nascar.

That's what I've seen over the past month.

  • @bingbongboi90 said:

You could have also said you hate camping, it would make the post shorter.

I dont like the playstyle either only after the gens are done.

HOWEVER, i also camp when i know during the game survivors are way to altruistic. Camping is the biggest counter to altruistic survivors. So if you see survivors going for the safe thanks to aura reading perks no survivors are doing the gens so the best strategy is to camp.

Great point. Punish overly altruistic teams.

  • @Shocktober said:

I play both sides but find survivor kind of boring at times, so I usually play killer. Once you get into the higher ranks you will sometimes hit 3-4 man squads that only exist to punish you.

You never really know, going into a match, what you are going to get. 4 man death squad, or 4 potatoes, who knows?

Fair point. I guess you know when you are surrounded by 3 sailor steves with flashlights? :)

    never said foir an advantage

some ppl could be in remote areas and need a vpn to avoid ridiculously long q

if they have good itnernet using a vpn might not lower their ping much

could be other reasons why they need to use a vpn in general and not just specificaly to play dbd

Fair point. I didn't think about that.

Because devoting 3/4 perks in your build as a solo survivor (Fixated, Spine Chill, and Iron Will) then trying to choose between Sprint Burst, Inner Strength, Kindred, or any other perk to counter a single killer in the roster is very practical. I get it, Iron Will is amazing and I use it in all my builds, and inner strength is gorgeous. But this doesn't exactly encourage build diversity does it?

Also if you get hit then F.

You make an awesome point. I pretty much run those 3 with everything now. Why? Any decent killer will literally follow scratch marks across an entire map (yes I see you huntress that just cant give it up). I run iW to counter all the post hit screaming. It too is extremely powerful. And then spine chill, it is what it is.
