  • While I disagree Ghostfact is top 3, he is indeed a strong killer. Top 5 possibly. He is hands down the best stealth killer in the game because he can chase and attack while in stealth. His strength really comes from being able to scramble survivors and force them into positions where they can see him coming, which is usually away from objectives. He generates indirect map pressure by putting survivors on edge, not knowing where he is or if he is nearby (compared to direct pressure of Billy or Nurse than can just move around faster and be on top of you very quickly regardless of where you are on the map).

Really try the anti-heal build on Ghostface. Sloppy, Thana, Nurse's. I do Dying Light for my 4th but Ruin or Corrupt Intervention work too. Just use the stealth aspect of his power. Don't stalk except as a means to find/track survivors (ie. do not to actually mark them). You will see how strong he can be.

I agree. I'm afraid it's going to be quite worthless addon if they nerf it this bad. There are much better solutions to tone it down too. Either remove only the recovery effect or make it a combination of three brown addons as you suggested. Or if they add the speed penalty make it -5 % or max -8 % or something since -15 % speed penalty seems way too harsh. I'm also sad about the activation charge time addon changes. Other changes seem reasonable though.

The Amulet needed to he toned down a bit because it was easily her strongest add-on.

I agree that they did a BIT too much on the Amulet. The duration is longer but she is slow as hell. I believe even Wraith cloaked with green windstorm is faster than Spirit phasing with the upcoming Amulet change. The amulet should keep her at base phasing speed (176%).

I rarely used the Amulet though anyways. I only used it against teams I didn’t like or teams I know to be really good. I’ve been going without add-ons as of late.

Let us hope the Amulet changes don't make it past PTB and the devs realize it would be better to just reduce the numbers instead.

They could do what Identity V does, where generators (or ciphers in that game) start off slow, and then after 2 minutes (could be longer for DBD), the speed at which generators are done are accelerated. This basically gives the killer a chance to snowball, instead of the killer having a rough first chase and then 3 of the 5 required generators pop after 80 seconds without Ruin.

Anything that slows down gen progress is bad for the game though (unless it's a killer perk/power that's doing it). You don't want to turn the game into MORE of an hold button sim for survivors. The more reasonable option is to just make it harder to do the gens really fast with skill checks and such. 80 seconds is entirely reasonable for a solo gen no buffs/debuffs. We don't want to artificially change this because the game is very precariously balanced around this, believe it or not. But we also don't want to see a gen pop in 30 seconds, that's too much.

Another option would be to give the killer some sort of power up based on how fast gens are done. Something they can use to slow down the game, as long as it's not like a speed boost or something.

I've brought up these points before with ideas but they get shot down because it seems most people either want longer gen times or a second objective, neither of which actually fix the problem without causing more problems in the process.

  • It will interrupt some actions but not repairing. I think it can interrupt a hook rescue and healing. Not sure about sabo.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

I get gen times, but iron will is fine.

    Agreed.

Options to counter it exist. Stridor. Bloodhound. Thanatophobia (for the survivors like me that run Iron Will and just stay injured while rushing gens).

As for gen times, they just need to put a limit on how fast a gen can get done. As it stands, 3 survivors on a gen will pump it out in like 35 seconds. No perks or toolboxes either, that's nuts. You should never be able to finish a gen in less than 50 seconds honestly. It'd make stacking gen perks moot, instead just take a toolbox or PT.

That or add some kind of new mechanic that makes it harder to do gens the faster they get done. Like more frequent and difficult skill checks with higher regression penalties if you do gens too fast.

  • I always get frame drops when notifications pop up, as killer or survivor. Very serious ones too, like a full second of the screen just being frozen. Gotten me killed quite a lot as survivor when you get hit, Sloppy procs, and you end up somehow reversing your camera and running back INTO the killer despite not having touched the control stick at all. And as killer I whiff so many attacks because I get Bloodlust at that EXACT moment.

Performance/optimization should be top priority for consoles. I want the game to run at 60 FPS smooth no matter what. And don't give me this "your console can't handle it" BS because Gears 4/5 runs at 60 FPS 1080p flawlessly on my Xbox One X, probably better than majority of PC's out there. It's not the platform that's the problem, it's the game.

  • @NinoV1 said:

The game isn’t optimised for console, controls aside the performance issues are also problematic.

Cant wait until my PC is done ??‍♂️

Right. That's why I said it's kinda important to improve the performance on console because that alone will make Nurse more viable. Half the time I have no trouble doing a 180 during a blink but it's so janky looking that it's hard to really tell what's going on.

  • Spirit changes are okay and I'm in the "Spirit is fine" army.

The only change I take issue with is Amulet. Like I get it was really strong and I'd be okay with a nerf but this is WAY too much. Reducing speed is like the last thing I want as a Spirit. IDC if it let's me phase forever, speed>duration any day. Currently it's like having 3 yellow add-ons. Should have just toned down the numbers so it's more like 3 brown add-ons. I don't see myself using this one much anymore, I really hope this change doesn't make it through the PTB.

And I'm skeptical that the removal of collision will play out like people expect. It could open a whole new can of worms honestly. Old Freddy had some tech he could do with no collision (mostly with windows but still) so I imagine that Spirit players will find ways to take advantage of this, which just results in trading one devil for another.

Also Prayer Beads needed a change, but these new ones might be really bad. Someone did point out it's an indirect buff to SWF since those in your group can just call out if she is phasing or not when you are being chased. Plus I'm mildly upset that it no longer synergizes with Insidious, Spirit really was the only killer that could use this perk outside of face camping (Insidious procs on the husk, so if you wait a half second before phasing, your husk will have no TR once your phase actually starts and with Prayer Beads it means no one could ever tell if you were standing there or phasing at any distance, it was a lot of fun). Again, Prayer Beads OP plz nerf, but I would have preferred something different. Better than nothing I suppose.

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that they're gonna adjust console sensitivity.

Honestly sensitivity is fine, they need to give us more options like aim acceleration and dead zones. You could have 1000 sensitivity but it won't make things better.

The other major issue with the game on console is performance. Sometimes the game barely runs at 30 FPS steadily. It seemed to have gotten worse in the last few updates. On PC it can run a smooth 60 FPS. Once they optimize the game better on console I bet you will see more Nurse/Huntress players.

Fair for everyone? No. It's not "fair for everyone". Part of the reason I play on console is that I don't like M/KB. It's too much of an advantage for those who use it too, more so in twitchy FPS games, like Siege. My philosophy for this is simple: if you want to use M/KB then just go and play ON A PC, unless you are physically incapable of holding/using a controller.

Console and PC are different for a reason and they should stay that way.

Not for long. Like I told you, m/kb support is now native on Xbox. Some games support it but the developers have to enable it first.

If you can literally plug in any m/kb into your Xbox it is totally fair. You could take a generic Dell m/kb and use that if you want.

And even though I would agree there is an advantage in games like R6, in DBD not so much. The only time a mouse would make a difference is if you play Huntress or Nurse.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/837052#Comment_837052

R6 Siege and Overwatch. Devs on those games have explicitly stated before that they are not allowed on console and that it is cheating.

    Especially Siege.

Yet they could easily enable it and make it fair to everyone.

Plus even if the devs say this I'm pretty positive it's against Xbox TOS. This besides the fact I don't even think they can detect XIM in the first place.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/836880#Comment_836880

M/KB is actually banned on console for most things, so recommending it is just as bad as saying "use a hacked/modded version on PC" since it's an unauthorised modification and it gives an unfair advantage to the one using it.

LOL What? M/kb is not "banned" on console. Xbox has native m/kb support, it just requires the developers of the game to enable it (which most don't for some reason). And XIM exists which you can't get banned for either. There's also cross-platform play on some games, particularly Gears 4/Gears 5.

Really not sure where you come to the conclusion m/kb is "banned" on console.

If someone bought you dbd for PC would you do it @thesuicidefox

Maybe but I have another issue when I'm not sure if my PC could handle the game. I've been having heating issues and stuff.

Please don't buy it for me though. LOL Besides the fact there's no point proving anything since she is getting changed, I don't want hand outs like that. If/when cross platform progress happens I'll probably get the game on PC.

Because killer controls are trash on console and I'd do terribly?

That's not the point I'm making.

I'm saying it's a bit extreme to call it an "excuse" when the person literally has to pay to prove a point to you.

BTW there are m/kb adapters for console. You could easily buy a PS4/Xbox, a Xim adapter, and DBD. So if your "excuse" is controls it's not a valid one ?

  • @ScottJund said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/836808#Comment_836808

Excuses can be valid too, you know. Its just a reason they won't do it.

So what do you expect them to do?

Why don't you go out an buy a PS4/Xbox and DBD to prove them wrong?

  • @ScottJund said:

Their usual argument is either "I'm on console" or "1v1 doesn't mean anything, game is 1v4" even though I'm literally only testing the 1v1 chase aspect of Spirit.

Playing on console is an excuse now?

Sorry if I don't feel like buying another version of the game I probably won't ever play just to prove a point to you that is meaningless anyway since things will change regardless of who proves what to who.

There are 17 killers in this game. You'll rarely run into any individual killer more than a handful of times in a given play session. But you don't need to play against Spirit on a regular basis in order to be frustrated by her.

And yes, she does become more common at red ranks. Streamers run into her very frequently.

    *laughs in Xbox*

Dude last night was nothing but Trapper and Ghostface. Literally 4 games in a row of Trapper at what is technically red/purple ranks (due to reset).

In fact at red ranks the most common killers are Trapper, Ghostface, and Spirit. Myers and LF are up there too but I've had streaks of the first three like 5 in a row at some times.

  • @SpaceCoconut I couldn't earn the Huntress Wolf Mask because the game was literally unplayable for me as killer during the event. There was basically an 80% chance that the game would crash when I got my first event hook. It's completely unfair that I lost out on this cosmetic because the game was broken.

If they had a new event where I could earn I'd be happy to do that but they never did another event so here we are.

By contrast I was able to play survivor and got David's jacket, and I have no problem with people getting access to it for free.

Even the Hallowed/Withered Blight cosmetics are not special. Anyone can buy them at any time.

They can't do that to begin with because everyone who used the codes would lose their cosmetics.

Oh please feel free to do so. I would take this over the undeserved hits due to collision.

Still, I don’t know why you would want to reach the pallet before the survivor though. It doesn’t make any sense when you can just “hit” them before they reach the pallet.

Because then you force them in the opposite direction away from a loop.

It also means that if you are trying to body block for another survivor the Spirit can just pass through you can get that person now.

This will probably back fire. I could be wrong but I can already picture some of the new tricks she can do and how survivors won't like it.

Thats ok. :) but I disagree.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835664#Comment_835664

Because if you fake it and someone runs, you are gonna have to activate it again, giving a second tell so the survivor knows you faked before. Open your mind a bit, you are too closed in.

If they run then it doesn't matter if you faked it or not.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835538#Comment_835538

You are the one not getting it.

Let me put it this way.

When spirit decides to phase a few things happen.

    -She stops

-she holds the power button, making a progress bar appear.

-when the power bar completes, she goes into phase.

-she releases the power button to stop phasing

Now, pay attention to what I am NOT asking for.

    -She stops

-she holds the power button, making a progress bar appear.

-when the power bar completes, she goes into phase.

-A TELL HAPPENS TELLING OTHER PLAYERS SHE'S INTO THIS STATE.

-she releases the power button to stop phasing

Now, this is what I actually am asking for.

    -She stops

-she holds the power button, making a progress bar appear.

-A TELL HAPPENS, TELLING THOSE LOOKING AT HER SHE WENT INTO THIS STATE

-when the power bar completes, she goes into phase.

-she releases the power button to stop phasing

Notice the difference, and what that implies.

    There is no difference.

Telling someone she activates her power and telling someone she is phasing are basically the same thing. The only difference is that she can tap the button to "fake it" but how is this ANY different than just standing still to fake it? It's just faking it with extra steps.

All you do with this change is give away when she is actually committing to her power, which defeats the entire purpose of it and is exactly the problem I'm talking about.

The big difference between this and Pig/Wraith faking it is that you know immediately that it was a fake, allowing you to react to the fact it was a fake. You don't with Spirit, so the end result will be the same. Is she phasing or not? Literally. No. Difference.

  • @Clevite said:

So amulet makes her slower at base speed, not while phasing correct?

No it makes her phasing slower. She will still move at 4.4 m/s when out of phase.

  • Also just FYI to anyone saying "just deactivate the codes"... even if they did that people would get scammed because not everyone knows the codes are deactivated. It'd actually just make the problem worse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If people went to Brazil for pixels and to not actually enjoy Brazil. That's a whole different discussion

I agree 1000%. You don't just travel somewhere like that for a video game cosmetic and not to experience the place you visited. I've gone to conventions before and got free stuff, but I didn't go for the free stuff I went because I wanted to see the convention (or the place where it was held).

Whether that's for Auric Cells or Iri Shards is anyone's guess, probably both depending on the item. But the Rift Pass items were never going to be 100% exclusive forever.

Then what was the point of the friend bit? Waste my time?

Same thing, give the actual counter play. Not this shrodinger crap.

It is not. Because you can fake it. You can bing bong the bell without going invisible, you can roar without ambushing etc.

    A difference with no distiction

    LOL clearly you don't understand.

I told you to have a friend play Spirit in KYF and tell you when she is phasing to prove that giving her a tell about her power completely guts her. You know exactly when she is using it and therefore can always apply the optimal counter play. If you DO NOT know, then you can't always pick the optimal counter play, sometimes you have to go for something less optimal but more safe. If you want to go for an optimal counter play you need to take a risk that you guessed right.

So what about Pig/Wraith fake out? Literally all you would do is tap the button. Wow yea, sure making her work for it by tapping a button. Really makes no difference other than to give away she is using her power when she actually commits to using it.

And you keep calling it "Schrodinger crap" but it works pretty consistently so maybe actually try it before you bash it.

  • The thing is it doesn't mean there is no counter play. It's like Hag where he can push you away from a loop but if you path well you can just run from loop to loop and he resets his snares. And you can still hit a snare and out play him, it's just gonna be harder to do.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835382#Comment_835382

    1) the vaulting animation was given to her to remove confusion, if she was all about confusion like you said, this wouldn't have happened

2)it is not. Also, if you wanna give counterplay, give actual counter play, not this shrodinger stuff.

Are we not doing numbers anymore? Thats not what I am asking for, pay attention.

No. Why dont you show me exactly how to tell she's phasing if you can do it so well?

Again, not what I am asking for. Pay attention

I can't tell you exactly when she is phasing AND THAT IS THE POINT! You aren't supposed to know. I never said I could BTW, just said that I know how to beat the stand still trick because I don't try to guess which she is doing.

But that doesn't mean there is no counter play. There is. You just have to assume she is doing both at once. Do that and you will see the valid options open up.

And it is what you are asking for because a tell that says "I'm activating my power" and one that says "I am using my power" are the same thing at the end of the day... giving you information you shouldn't have.

Again, vaulting =/= her power. Her POWER is meant to be confusing. Her vaulting doesn't need to be.

  • @Hoodied said:

Freddy is fine, his tricks only work on those who are asleep and are soft countered by small game

By tricks I assume you mean dream pallets? Because snares are not tricks. Used right they are unavoidable. Survivors can see you place them and it makes no difference except to discourage them from using that loop (which puts them in a catch 22, either they run the loop and caught easily or they don't and are caught easily).

  • I couldn't earn the Huntress Wolf Mask because my game would constantly crash any time I played killer during the event. You're gonna tell me I don't deserve it though? When I literally could not even play as killer to earn the event item? Okay.

Not to mention, unlike other event items, there is 0 way to earn these items now. At least the Hallowed/Withered Blight items can be bought at any time. But screw anyone that bought the game in 2019!

It's really not that big of a deal.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835327#Comment_835327

But not having a tell, isn't the point of her power.

Otherwise, they wouldn't have given her a vault animation

    1) Vaulting =/= her power

    2) Not having a tell is the point of her power. I literally can't repeat that enough. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN SHE IS PHASING! You complain about this because you fall for the stand still trick, but that trick is very easy to beat if you play it like she is both standing there AND phasing. If you are trying to guess which she is doing, you already lost.

If you know when she is using her power, she loses all pressure on you because you know when to run and when to play stealthy.

Try this. Make a KYF game. Being in a chat/Discord with a friend. Have your friend pick Spirit. Any time they phase walk have them tell you. You will see how easy she is to beat.

If the devs wanted you to know when she was phasing they wouldn't have made the husk appear to be an AFK Spirit and they wouldn't have had the husk keep a TR that overrides phasing woosh.

Sounds good to me. I wish survivors stopped working on generators any time I used my power as Huntress or Hillbilly. I'd be able to chase people and take people off of gens at the same time. Sign me up.

I don't think it will work out this way TBH. Good survivors have good game awareness and will have a solid track on where the killer is at any given time. If you know she is too far away to get to you, you're not gonna stop doing the gen.

As much as I would agree Prayer Beads needed to be changed, I think this is the wrong change. All it does is tell every survivor she is phasing. It's almost a drawback in itself.

No, what I mean is I can reach the pallet before them and hit them before they could get near.

Now without collision, it makes it that much easier.

Yea people that were asking for this are going to regret it. It opens up a new door for tech where you just sprint to the pallet ahead of the survivor, exit phase, and body block it. At least previously you'd have to go around to the other side to do that which was only possible if you had speed/duration add-ons or it was just the right distance.

I'm going to do this as much as I can and just deny survivors every window vault and pallet I can. They will be begging for collision back LOL.

Okay yea this is why you got comm banned then. Because I personally have never been comm banned and I avoid saying nasty stuff to people. I've checked my rep on enforcement.xbox.com and I've had a bunch of reports against me but because I've been on Xbox for over 14 years and never been banned nothing happens since I don't say anything ban worthy.

But if you've been banned before and someone reports you, the system will probably auto-ban you since you have a record. Sucks but that's how it works from what I understand.

I never considered Infectious on Clown without Knockout but pressure is still pressure, and if I'm chasing 1 while another is on the ground then a 3rd Survivor is healing them so that's 3 people not doing Gens. I like this idea, thanks :)

Infectious Fright is good on any killer with normal TR. You can generate a lot of pressure because you can slug and go after another survivor right away. I honestly have not yet used it on Clown but considering how good he is in a chase and how strong the perk is in general it should be a good pick.

  • BBQ, Ruin, Pop, Infectious.

The tiers don't matter for 3 of them, and you have tier 2 Ruin which is still good. BBQ and Infectious are to help to find survivors and generate pressure. Pop to slow gen speed either combined with or in place of Ruin (when it goes down).

I think this is probably you best option here. Could maybe take NOED instead of Pop so you have Ruin + NOED, but NOED is less effective at high ranks or against SWFs. Could also take Discordance in place of BBQ.

  • Not sure what platform you are on but you could always try a controller with an "auto-fire" option. Madcatz controllers usually have something like this where you can just hold the button and it mashes for you. Could also try macros on PC but I'm not sure about the "legality" of this. IMHO the struggle phase should be opt-out instead of opt-in. Even as a fully abled person, you get instances where you just die because of a lag spike or something. It's dumb.

As far as perks to avoid second hook, I think your only option here is DS. Could also take Dead Hard to extend the chase, Self Care (or a medkit) to heal yourself after you get saved, or Bond so that you can try to pawn the killer off on another survivor (though they might not like you for this).

If I were you I'd look into new control options. You might even have some accessibility options depending on your platform that can help.

  • The cloak covering the right of the screen I noticed immediately. Did not even realize all the other stuff.

I like this cosmetic a lot but the cloak blocking a quarter of the screen is kind of a big deal.

I also don't see much difference between the new mask and his base mask. Is it just more white? IDK I have p3 so I just got the body.

  • Dying Light is really strong. I don't think it needs any changes.

You bring up some good points! I think it can be both types of players. I say this because I've been the target of abusive language in post-game chat specifically over pips. Most toxicity probably comes from people establishing their own internal win conditions be it pips, 4k's, or escapes. In my experience it's much better to go into a match with low expectations and be pleasantly surprised if things turn out well.

For sure, there are still jerks that play for pips. Or they play for pips AND 4k/escapes. But in my experience you are more likely to see toxicity from players playing for anything but pips.

Like I had a game earlier where I died on second hook because everyone was too scared to save me. I depipped. I'm not mad at the killer, and I'm only mildly upset with the other survivors (no hate mail or nothing just like "######### bro?" kinda thing). I took the L and moved on. A lot of players can't do that.
