  • Yea this was the one big thing I noticed about not having Bloodlust actually. It gave survivors a lot more opportunity to just run tiles, especially against a 110 killer. It was kind of frustrating to deal with.

As I said elsewhere, Bloodlust 1 after 20 seconds is fine. Bloodlust 2 and 3 can go.

    Let me describe it

The series X is not a remake of the Xbox One, its actually its own console, hence why its only possible to queue with xbox one players as the Xbox Series X is not an Xbox One

AGAIN it is not. If it were this would be the case with at least 1 other game. So far, DBD is the only game where Series X is somehow not the same platform as One/X.

Maybe there's a certain kind of crossplay enabled by default on those games that puts you together with all xbox players?

No there isn't some kind of magic crossplay enabled. Some of these games have not been updated in years. No crossplay. I'm not playing a backwards compatible game either, like I would if it were 360 or OG which are labeled as such. A game I played over 3 years ago on Xbox One runs completely natively on my Series X. IT IS THE SAME PLATFORM.

The only valid answers here are

    1) This is a bug and Xbox Series X should be playing with Xbox One/Xbox One X users.

    2) BHVR has decided to force players into crossplay and they are using this new gen console shift to do it.

You guys want to turn this into a "well it's not really the same platform" argument need to go out and buy a Series X to try all the stuff I tried. DBD is the ONLY GAME that requires crossplay to play with anyone on Xbox (or anyone at all). Other games, old and new, do not require this.

I'd be interested in your opinion on this as well, but leaving a response like this does not answer my question and isn't helpful. I'm trying to understand why you're frustrated.

Because I want to turn off crossplay and I can't. What else do you need to know to understand the situation? Literally every one else that plays DBD can turn it off, I cannot (and from what I heard PS5 cannot, which is also dumb).

Also no other game is requiring crossplay except DBD. Which tells me the devs want to force us all into crossplay eventually, and they are using this new gen consoles to do it. Unless one would like to come in here and explain what the hell is going on, that's all I can believe at this point.

You know what actually is BHVRs fault? That there is an easy solution for your problem that wouldn’t change the way you play the game at all.

It is a different platform, even the creator of said platforms confirmed its next gen. It does not matter that they force other games to have crossplay automatically on.

you want to force XBox player that WANT to play with other platforms to play with your preferred option. That’s pretty selfish of you.

try to express your opinion about the game a little bit more respectful and not with words like ‚fault‘, ‚force‘ etc. they are not fitting at all. I am not saying you shouldn’t express your opinion. But try without insulting others.

"even the creator of said platforms confirmed its next gen"

As I pointed out next gen =/= new platform. When the next gen of PC hardware comes out, can you suddenly not play with your friend on Steam that has this super advanced hardware? No. Yea it's the same thing here, except replace PC with Xbox Series X and replace Steam with Xbox.

"you want to force XBox player that WANT to play with other platforms to play with your preferred option. "

Except I own an Xbox Series X and I am on the Xbox platform. They aren't playing with someone on a different platform, we are both on Xbox. They are playing against someone with a stronger system, yes, but how is this different between Xbox One and Xbox One X? The X is way stronger than the OG one. Yet no crossplay has to be enabled there.

BTW Microsoft called Xbox One X the next gen as well. So again, next gen =/= new platform. Just a better system.

Can you explain why you would like to disable crossplay if you'd feel comfortable with last-gen and current-gen Xbox players playing together? At that point it's clearly not an issue tied to performance and crossplay should only improve queue times.

Xbox One X is last gen. Xbox One is last last gen. Yet both are considered under the "Xbox" platform. Series X is just the next more powerful console after the X. If Microsoft was doing new platforms, then Xbox One and Xbox One X would be required to enable crossplay to play together. And if Xbox One/Xbox One X aren't required to enable crossplay to play with Xbox Series X on ANY other game but DBD, then that suggests that the developers should have no issue grouping Xbox Series X players with Xbox One/Xbox One X players.

THEY ARE ALL THE XBOX PLATFORM. One should not be required to enable crossplay to play with someone on the same platform.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I know you don't want to make this about why you want to turn crossplay off, but I'm curious why this feature is special. Regardless of why you want to opt out, is your frustration with not being able to opt out rooted in the fact that it's possible on other platforms? I ask because most features in this game don't give you the opportunity to opt out in the first place even when they clearly disadvantage some platforms (e.g. cosmetics and effects that tank the frame rate on some platforms). In other words, would you still be frustrated if crossplay were enabled for all platforms without the opportunity to opt out?

Edit: Ah, I misunderstood. You actually can opt out on the Xbox Series X, but you are having a bad experience when you opt out because the player pool is too small. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I would struggle to blame Behaviour for this one. If they made last-gen and current-gen consoles play together when people opt out of crossplay, then last-gen console owners would be frustrated that they have a disadvantage against anyone with a current-gen console. Behaviour really can't win there.

Just because other games handle crossplay differently doesn't mean that it is the correct choice in this case.

"Ah, I misunderstood. You actually can opt out on the Xbox Series X, but you are having a bad experience when you opt out because the player pool is too small. "

You still misunderstand, I cannot match with anyone even another Series X player. I sat for an hour in a lobby and never found a game as killer. At least 1 person would be playing as survivor on a Series X. AT LEAST ONE. It doesn't work at all unless you turn on crossplay which is what gives me hope this is a glitch they will fix.

Sorry but the devs aren't even able to optimize their game or adding accessibilty options like a colorblind mode after so many years and those things seriously affect the game experience.

I seriously doubt BHVR will do that considering how they choose to ignore even more important issues.

Yes let's invalidate a complaint because there are so many other complaints.

    Stay on topic please.

  • @NomiNomad said:

With all the posts I've seen about this lately it seems like BHVR should really just have platform queues. I disagree with saying they're the same platform, they are different peices of machinery and thus different, but I don't see why BHVR can't have Series X and Xbone only queues, same thing with PS4 to PS5. If it's about the fact that the new consoles have better framerates, they wouldn't have allowed crossplay in the first place.

Crossplay came about because people on PC wanted to play with friends on other platforms. But just because someone has a more powerful system doesn't mean they should be excluded from your matchmaking pool. For example, PC players can have wildly different variations to hardware. Yet if they disable crossplay they still get matched against people with better/worst PC's. Because as long as everyone is on the same platform (Steam) they play together, regardless of crossplay options. Xbox One and Xbox Series X are both the Xbox PLATFORM. I think people mistake a new machine as a new platform. That is the old way of doing things. Nintendo still does that and it's failing. Microsoft said from day 1 of Xbox One this is the end of console generations. They meant that from then on, Xbox is a platform just like Steam. Series X is just like upgrading your PC.

The way crossplay has been handled in the past and now egregiously on Series X suggests the developers want to FORCE everyone into crossplay eventually.

  • @Mooks said:

BHVR is not at fault. It’s just the way cross play is implemented.

no one forces you to play with it enabled. No. Really. No force involved.

you have to endure longer wait queues because most of the player base for this console does want to play with all platforms.

you can’t force XBox One players to play against XBox Series X. That would not be fair for those that opted out of crossplay because they don’t wanna face platforms with way better performance.

you are not a victim here, it’s not optimally implemented for everyone, and it never can be. The way it is now is best way for the vast majority of players including XBox players

"BHVR is not at fault. It’s just the way cross play is implemented."

Literally every other game can do it. It is entirely BHVR's fault at the moment.

"you have to endure longer wait queues because most of the player base for this console does want to play with all platforms."

Again you seem to miss the part where I literally cannot find a game even with other Series X players. It is crossplay or don't play. Yes that is forcing me to play with crossplay.

"you can’t force XBox One players to play against XBox Series X. That would not be fair for those that opted out of crossplay because they don’t wanna face platforms with way better performance."

Yet every other game is doing this without requiring crossplay or even having crossplay built into the game.

They are on Xbox I am on Xbox. It is the same platform. If it weren't then at least 1 other game would require crossplay but so far I have not found one.

  • I agree that it would be okay to keep just Bloodlust 1 if only to break certain really strong loops, just increase the time to 20 seconds so that it's harder to force it. Bloodlust 2 and 3 are the problems IMO.

As Spirit, I don't have much of a problem with loopers because my power is so strong, but for Huntress and Slinger I can understand. I played a bunch of Hag games as well and yes, she suffers but less than the others.

I would say in the specific case of Huntress part of her power is she gets a stronger Bloodlust effect. Something like +7.5% instead of the normal +5%. Because unlike Spirit, Hag, and Nurse she does not have a movement ability, and unlike Slinger she has to leave a loop to reload. Also unlike Slinger her shots are harder to hit around loops (Slinger can literally shoot through holes in the wall). So out of all the 110 she needs Bloodlust the most. Plus one of her perks is based on Bloodlust, so it makes sense in a few ways.

I'd also say that they should give a killer bloodlust in other situations. For example, after hooking a survivor for the first time (ie. the BBQ stack) the killer gets Bloodlust for 10 seconds or until they hit a survivor or use their power. This would encourage killers to not camp hooks, using the speed boost to get another survivor or pressure a gen. It'd also disproportionately help killers based on their tier rankings. For example, Slinger and Clown get more map pressure, but Billy or Nurse (being ones to just use their power after a hook) won't really benefit. It's a simple thing that could go a long way. Or maybe they get it after a gen pops to help killers with poor map pressure. Stuff like that.

On that point, why not make haste perks instead give bloodlust? Nothing changes in terms of effect, it's just a technical thing. So for example, when NOED procs the card could just read "Killer gets bloodlust". Seems a good time to simplify some things.

  • Crossplay shouldn't completely separate people on the same platform. It should prioritize your own platform first and then fill in the rest when necessary. Like, no one on PC is like "man I sure do wish I could play against all PS4 players right now". Bro just buy a PS4 then.

No other game's crossplay segregates the playbase like this.

Also crossplay should be opt-in not opt-out.

  • @Laurab84 said:

Let me make this clear as an xbox series x owner..... you now own a console that is as powerful as a PC...... your frame rates are the same....

Not as many people have the xbox series x also how many of them actually play dbd. So matchmaking without crossplay is going to take forever.

Its not fair pitting xbox one users against xbox series x players they are not the same console with the same frame rates. If anyone says well they are both xbox.... yes but you are basically putting xbox one consoles up against a next gen console that has the same frame rates and powers as a pc. Take this from someone who does play cross platform with someone one an xbox one. They said the killer should have never hit someone as they were no where near them, I told them straight no... the killer was next to them

    Ughh....

It is entirely fair. You still don't have a mouse and keyboard. Not to mention, the game shouldn't be in the state it's in on Xbox One in the first place, the frame rates are horrible because the devs aren't actually doing anything to fix the few very clear problems they have.

Furthermore I DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS FOR LITERALLY ANY OTHER GAME. DBD is the only game where I am required to play with crossplay to actually play the game with someone on an Xbox One.

The last part of your post is lag. I still get that even on Series X. But having a better framerate isn't giving me this massive advantage over Xbox players. Survivor is literally the same, I can hit greats a bit easier but that's about it (also I don't get frame drops when hit with Sloppy, but again that shouldn't be a thing anyway). It only makes a difference as killer, and I don't see a problem with that. Killers need to have a bit of a boost. If my tracking and aim is slightly better because of good framerates, that's not a major issue.

The advantage of having a Series X is not so massive that it completely changes the outcome of the game. I have a bit of a better time playing killer, that is literally it.

EDIT: Just to make one more point... Steam doesn't differentiate based on your PC's specs. Everyone on Steam is considered on the Steam platform. Just like everyone on an Xbox, whether that be an Xbox One or Xbox Series X, is considered to be on the Xbox platform. The only exceptions to this rule are OG Xbox and Xbox 360 both of which were made before Microsoft decided to stick to the same platform and just upgrade the console itself for each generation.

  • Whispers is better except on Lery's, Game, and Midwich.

  • Actually these are examples of why bloodlust needs to be removed. It's pretty obvious you rely too much on bloodlust to force down pallets. If you didn't try to mindgame as much and just pick a direction and brute force the pallet down you would have forced the pallet down in half the time, then caught the survivor as they tried to vault the pallet. Instead you keep changing direction, essentially resetting the chase, and waste a massive amount of time AND never get the pallet dropped.

This is exactly why bloodlust needs to go. You will never get better at the game if you win all your chases by way of a pity mechanic.

  • Multiple LT walls are a problem with bloodlust too.

I think the game just shouldn't spawn them next to each other, or at least forced a bad orientation if it does.

  • Not disturbing crows is lowkey OP though.

For example... did you know that Scratched Mirror Myers will set off crows? Did you know that Lery's has crows up the wahzoo (the map most likely to be picked for SMM)?

Therefore if you have Calm Spirit, anytime a crow goes off near you it's either the killer or another survivor. If you are SWF or have Bond (or something to see survivors) then you can know exactly where the killer is most of the time.

I had a Myers ask how I knew where he was all the time, and it was because of Calm Spirit.

Also Infectious is a very strong perk on certain killers and not screaming will probably gut their entire strategy. Unless you just really suck at hiding.

    you are exaggerating.

this is a Videogame. One that you can play perfectly fine with crossplay on. There is no downside to this (you can’t name one real downside). If crossplay wasn’t a thing BHVR would have needed to implement a new crossplay feature for Series X to play with Xbox one. Then you couldn’t play this game at all right now. But you can, but currently you have to turn crossplay on because the playerbase is too small.

you are saying you would get an aneurysm. Something people are suffering from in real life and even dying. But you use it because you don’t like to hear that you make unreasonable demands for a videogame. And you are saying you are not exaggerating.

Again, telling me I should just shut up and use a feature I don't want, but somehow that's not bullying. Sure.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752695#Comment_1752695

    You are exaggerating.

and again, you don’t like the way crossplay is implemented. That’s a fair and reasonable complaint. BUT there is still no force that makes you play with crossplay on.

crossplay is pretty much spot on implemented by BHVR for everyone but a few that only want to play with their own platform. There is no reason BHVR should change it. You said it yourself, you can’t give a reason for it. Many people are happy the way it is.

play every other game that implement is in another way if that makes you happy. No one is forcing you to play DbD. But be assured, many games have it enabled by default. Many games don’t even give an option to turn it off.

and you need to seriously calm down, stop the capslock and accept some of the facts. It really is okay to not like the implementation, but that’s a very subjective and unreasonable view of yours. I got some of those kind for this game as well. But I am not crying that I am forced to play with it or getting punished

    I'm not exaggerating.

On Series X for DBD I MUST enable crossplay to play with other Xbox players, or to play the game at all. No other game requires me to enable crossplay to play with Xbox players.

And regarding the que times, YES sometimes it is impossible to find a game if you turn off crossplay. I've literally waited in lobbies for upwards of 10 minutes before I find a game. Sometimes my friends and I have waited 20 minutes and never found a game if it was like early on a Monday or something. There are plenty of people playing the game on Xbox, but the game doesn't match me with them because we have different crossplay options.

Don't sit there and tell me I'm exaggerating when you don't even know what's going on.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752648#Comment_1752648

no it is Not. There is no force involved, just unfortunate circumstances that let you not play the game, which is not the fault of BHVR.

If my only options are turn on crossplay or don't play, that's pretty forced dude. And it is entirely their fault for implementing an back ass wards crossplay. No other game does it this way. No other game has it on by default.

    @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752646#Comment_1752646

I have told you many times as have others.

those games have implemented crossplay between different Xbox platforms. They are ‚forcing‘ everyone to use this crossplay feature, there is no option to turn it off and they are not informing the playerbase about crossplay.

Right except DBD can't do that for some reason. All I am asking for is that I can turn off crossplay and still play with Xbox players LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME OUT THERE.

I'm about to have an aneurysm.

But honestly. Why should BHVR change the way how crossplay works if there aren't any functional issues with it?

Only thing that does is wasting manpower and risking to break something in the process.

Not being able to play unless you enable an option feature isn't a functional issue? Are you kidding me here?

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752632#Comment_1752632

It is. Everyone is saying so. Even the creator of the platform and the creator of the game.

other games use another system to enable crossplay between Xbox gens.

you are the one not accepting this fact.

If it was then I would need to enable crossplay in every other game to play with my friends on Xbox.

I do not. Therefore Xbox One and Series X are actually the same platform. Next gen in this case merely means a more powerful console. It does NOT me a completely separate platform that is incompatible with last gen consoles.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752603#Comment_1752603

You have to accept the fact that XBox Series X is a new gen console and not just another iteration of the Xbox One.

and use at least other words than ‚punished‘ and ‚forced‘, those do not fot in here at all.

you are not happy with the system, which is okay. But be more rational about it.

IT IS NOT. This issue only exists in DBD. I don't have to enable crossplay in other games to play with Xbox players.

This thread is getting ridiculous. It's almost like none of you actually care to understand my point and just want to argue.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752603#Comment_1752603

Choices have consequences. You are not being "forced" to do anything, nor are you being "punished" for turning off an optional feature. These are consequences you knowingly accept when you disable crossplay.

    My choices are...

    (On Series X)

    1. Turn on crossplay
    2. Don't play.

    (for normal Xbox)

    1. Turn on crossplay.
    2. Suffer with que times longer than if crossplay didn't exist, sometimes never being able to find a match.

DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEM. I am forced to play with crossplay if I want to actually play the game.

You can't seriously sit there and say it's fair to force me to use an optional feature. My choices are literally play with crossplay or don't play at all. THAT IS NOT A CHOICE. I am being forced to use crossplay. How you can deny this is honestly astounding.

xbox has faster que times before the cross play? I think u need to learn what fast means

Yes it did compared to having crossplay off now it was faster. It's only faster than before if you use crossplay.

How is it you guys can't understand this simple thing?

  • @xTalon32 said:

@thesuicidefox I think the reason people are being a bit "direct" with you is that you're imposing your own opinion on them about crossplay. And you did say you didn't like it because people from other platforms were bad (which you did mention something about a Lery's hook looper). It seems like you want BHVR to bow to your wants/opinions, I'm not saying you are but that's what most people are taking this as.

It was said before, crossplay allows much better queue times. And aside from differences in machine performance, there is no real reason to have it off. But at least you have a choice. If you don't want crossplay that's fine, but you can't expect others to turn theirs off for you. BHVR isn't responsible for your choices, you need to compromise on stuff like this. The benefit of crossplay outweighs the problems with it. And that is directly from what the playerbase wanted (which was shorter queue times).

LOL who is imposing anything? If you want it on or off I don't care. I just don't want to be punished for turning it off, both because I chose to get a Series X (I am still on Xbox, crossplay shouldn't be required) AND because now my que times are LONGER than before crossplay was even added. THOSE ARE MY COMPLAINTS, I AM BEING FORCED TO ENABLED AN OPTIONAL FEATURE OF CROSSPLAY.

Dear lord this place is awful. Why I don't post much, because every time I do people do exactly what is being done in this thread. Now a mod came in and is more or less telling me oh well deal with it, you have to turn on crossplay to play on Xbox. Gee thanks, but right I'm the bully here.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752580#Comment_1752580

the system should prioritize your platform and let you match with people on your platform regardless of their crossplay option.

That's the same as disabling crossplay outside certain time periods.

That shouldn't be a thing. I should have the same que times as before crossplay was added, and the ones who turn it on should benefit from faster que times without negatively affecting the current que times.

That's not mathematically possible. Unfortunately, queue times are a zero-sum game - shortening the queues for some will increase the queues for others. The goal is to have everyone experience more or less the same (hopefully short) queue times.

This makes 0 sense when other games do it just fine.

Gears 4, for example will match you with other Xbox players regardless if they have crossplay enabled or not. The game just doesn't put a PC player in the lobby if someone has it off.

Sorry I'm not buying this. DBD is the only game where crossplay is a problem, whether I'm on Series X or not.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752484#Comment_1752484

Which means OP prioritizes queue times over excluding other platforms. Personally, I prioritize queue times over everything else, so I just go with whatever options make them shorter.

The matchmaker is not getting reworked to impose the will of a minority of players who don't like crossplay onto everyone else. If someone wants to disable crossplay they can, but they also have to bite the bullet and accept the consequences of having a smaller player pool.

If I'm wrong and the players who don't like crossplay are, in fact, a majority, then by biting the bullet the problem of long queues will solve itself. If, on the other hand, I'm right and they're a minority, then they have to learn to live with the consequences of purposefully constricting their player pool.

Is it a perfect system? No. However, it's entirely in the players' hands.

No one is imposing their will here except you guys.

Maybe people with crossplay off are a minority but that doesn't change the fact the system should prioritize your platform and let you match with people on your platform regardless of their crossplay option (literally how every other crossplay option works in other games). Again no one puts on crossplay to SPECIFICALLY AND ONLY play with players on another platform (unless they are friends). They do it for faster que times, but that means that the minority is punished for wanting to play the game a different way. That shouldn't be a thing. I should have the same que times as before crossplay was added, and the ones who turn it on should benefit from faster que times without negatively affecting the current que times.

You won't get it though. I just know it.

OBJECTION! Ive played with my xbox one friends on dbd with crossplay on i even made new xbox friends, u see the globe next to their name? Thats someone on different platform but ive gotten games that easily had only xbox survivors so yes u can play with people on your platform u are just butthurt that pc has an advantage cause faster turning to look cause they dont use controller, and the wait times are long without crossplay... Crossplay is actually a good thing so we console players dont wait 16 years for a match... So just stop trying to make the devs do something bad, u deserve the long wait times if u think ita bad

You only got matched in a room full of Xbox players with crossplay on. If someone has it off they won't get matched with you even if you are on Xbox.

  • I shouldn't need to enable crossplay to play with other Xbox players though. I don't need to enable it in any other game.

Oh, does that mean that it works on 360 as well? maybe the OG? they're both Xbox too, so clearly theyre the same too.

The jump from 360 to One is WAY bigger than from One to Series X.

The first is an actual generation gap. The second is just a more powerful console. The Xbox One was the first in a line of Xbox that are all essentially the same platform. Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X. All the same platform just varying power of the console.

Like when I play an Xbox One game without Series X enhancements I'm not playing a backwards compatible game like if I went to play a 360 game.

It doesn't have crossplay yet uses crossplay to play between steam and epic. that was kinda my point. You're conflating "it just works because xbox" without understanding how network communications in games works. limited crossplay is still crossplay, but is oftentimes not advertised as such when it is a game supported by a larger variety of consoles unless it supports all of them. console exclusives are terrible examples since their crossplay would never include opposing platforms (like switch or ps4/5)

It's not a different platform. It is Xbox. My console is just more powerful. If I shouldn't need to enable crossplay in other games where it exists to play with Xbox players, I shouldn't have to do it in DBD.

It shouldn’t be the normal experience to have non-crossplay. You are in the Great minority to think it should. There are way more benefits for it to have crossplay and the feature was implemented fairly well.

you can’t even give a logical reason why it should be normal to have it off. I am not asking for a reason, we all know you don’t have one. But there still are good reasons to have this feature.

    LOL Yes it should.

I bought an Xbox to play on Xbox. You're literally just saying I should have no choice but to play crossplay which is funny considering how you accuse me of forcing others to play the way I want.

I gotta ask: How are you getting access to the source code for all these new games that are still in active development? You seem to be pretty damn sure of this, despite it being both illogical and unfounded. Could it be that you are possibly misunderstanding how it works?

Also, I really wish this was my biggest problem with this game, lmao.

If the game let's me play with my friends on Xbox and it doesn't have crossplay, it's a pretty safe guess that crossplay doesn't exist in any capacity on Xbox.

I am on Xbox I can play with Xbox players on any other game. I can even go play Gears 4 with crossplay off and it works. DBD is literally the only game where I'm forced to turn on crossplay to play with people on my platform.

But yes I totally need access to the games' source codes to make my statements. 🙄 C'mon dude.

XBox series X is another platform though. It needs a crossplay feature to play with other XBox platforms

    IT IS NOT.

If it were then I wouldn't be able to play with anyone on any game unless crossplay exists and I turn it on.

So far the only game where this is a thing is DBD. In games where crossplay doesn't even exist I can play with friends.

It is NOT an optional feature to turn crossplay on. You are trying to use an optional feature that results in a smaller more selective playerbase. It’s only logical to have longer queue times this way.

you are asking for people that don’t want a smaller playerbase to suffer longer queue times just because of selfish reasons.

it is not a penalty, BHVR is not at fault, they can’t and shouldn’t dictate other players to play with a smaller playerbase of only selective platforms just because you say so. A great majority of those players WANT to play with crossplay on, even if you can’t understand it.

"you are asking for people that don’t want a smaller playerbase to suffer longer queue times just because of selfish reasons."

LOL no. I'm saying that you shouldn't be separated from your own platform if they select a different option than you. If the system prioritized your own platform and then used crossplay to speed up the process only it would be fine and no one would have a problem with that because your que time wouldn't be worse than if no option existed. It would stay the same for everyone that has it off, and then get faster if you turn it on.

Right now it is SLOWER than normal if you turn it off, and is only normal speed if you turn you on.

The fact you guys insist I play with crossplay and then say I'm wrong for wanting what SHOULD be the normal non-crossplay experience that existed before crossplay became a thing is mind boggling.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752295#Comment_1752295

You don't because those games already have their limited crossplay enabled by default, or as the only option. Unless you somehow have access to those games source code and can prove otherwise, the burden of proof is on you considering what I described is literally how cross generational compatibility works. The only exception is when the newer system is emulating the previous system, and doing so in a way that all internal code references would be unable to tell the difference (including clock timings.) Since that generally takes multiple generations worth of power difference, it is usually limited to things like sourceports and not incremental console upgrades.

Crossplay doesn't exist on Borderlands. You can't play with a PC player from Xbox.

This is a DBD issue not a Series X issue. Series X is still the same Xbox platform as Xbox One. My console is more powerful, that's it.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752242#Comment_1752242

There is no "general XBOX pool." The two consoles have different system archetecture, they are not the same system. Your account is the same between the two of them, but they are two separate consoles. This has been the case with every generation upgrade ever, and the only time games have been able to play between the two is by actually implimenting crossplay, whether or not it was limited specifically to the two consoles. Many games have been having their next gen upgrades built on the previous game in a way specifically for this reason, BHVR did not because they already made a crossplay system that is designed for use between all the major systems the game is on. Your solution would involve them making yet another crossplay system for each generational pairing, maintaining all of them side by side, and somehow not having any matchmaking issues that this game has been notorious for. It is considerably more work than you seem to be assuming, and your hyperbolic reaction that you're being "punished" makes it incredibly hard to sympathize with you.

If this were true then I would need to enable crossplay on every game I play to play with friends.

As it stands I don't. Literally DBD and no other game requires this. I'm not on a different platform, I'm on Xbox and therefore should be able to play with Xbox players without needing to enable crossplay. In fact some games crossplay doesn't even exist. Borderlands 3 doesn't block me from playing with my friends on Xbox.

Also you misunderstand what I said about general Xbox pool. Just imagine we went back in times a month before Series X came out. I'm talking about that. Where Xbox players with crossplay on don't get matched with Xbox with crossplay off. There are 2 different pools, Xbox, and crossplay Xbox. There is no reason for the system to do this. It shouldn't be prioritizing matching across platforms, it should prioritize the same platform and use crossplay to make que times faster. That's it.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752242#Comment_1752242

That’s not a punishment. That is a consequence that you are well aware off. It’s not something someone decided to punish you for, BHVR did not implement a feature to have longer queues for everyone with crossplay off.

you are literally asking for all people on XBox who decided to have crossplay turned on for various reasons to suffer longer queues just because you as a single individual want it that way. That is super unreasonable.

Yes, consequence of not using an OPTIONAL feature. Therefore it is punishment.

If turning it off didn't turn que times to complete ######### I wouldn't be complaining. But as it stands, it removes a chunk of players from the pool OF THEIR OWN PLATFORM and thus forces you to turn on crossplay.

Why should there be a consequence of having WORSE THAN BEFORE que times for an OPTIONAL feature? That's like saying because you opted out of the upgraded stereo system that your car should be 80% less fuel efficient than what it normally would have been if the stereo didn't exist.

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752201#Comment_1752201

you are not being punished for deciding to not play in cross play. however you must accept what happens when you take that option. for instance you go to a restaurant and order a burger, their description says that it has onion on it and you hate onion (this is me here) since you asked for the burger but forgot to say "No onion" is the restaurant punishing you for not telling them to take the onion off (since that is an option you can do)? NO they are not punishing you, you made a decision and you have to deal with the consequences of said decision. if you want cross-play off you get longer wait times, that is the norm on ALL PLATFORMS with the option off. this is not a punishment it is the reality. You need to reconnect, and btw you did not say your general experience until now, your post says I don't want to play with pc and ps4 people as they are potatoes and cheaters. this is not you saying your experience it is saying that you don't want to play with the platforms because of that and that lumps all pc and ps users into this grouping. so get over yourself and make your choice, stand by it and wait for more xbox one people to get the money for their series x console and then it won't be so bad.

"you are not being punished for deciding to not play in cross play. however you must accept what happens when you take that option."

That's literally what a punishment is. I don't do the thing my experience gets WORSE than it would if the thing didn't exist.

    @Ryuhi said:

maybe the user pool with crossplay off is so tiny because the series x just came out and adoption rate is nowhere near the size you're used to with the x1? Maybe it'll get larger as more people likeminded to yourself are actually able to get the console, rather than smaller like you posit? Also maybe matchmaking is a lot harder to code with the conditional checks you seem to think are simple?

BHVR has issues with matchmaking on the best of days. There are a lot more important things for them to fix about it.

Also, as for being "forced to use it," you're not. You have an option. people like Colorblind players who are unable to see because we still don't have a colorblind option in *current year argument* are an example of people who are forced to put up with a lack of accommodation, not early adopters for a new console who are too impatient to wait for more people to migrate to it just to get a specific flavor of matchmaking.

No I'm talking about the general Xbox pool. Right now, if I turn off crossplay I can only play with other Series X players. In order to play with other Xbox players I have to turn it on. JUST to play on Xbox I have to have it on. But that's an issue specific to Series X, my complaint there is that the game shouldn't have even launched in this state and I shouldn't be forced into crossplay to play with Xbox players. This isn't a thing in any other game I play.

But besides the Series X, my other complaint is that the Xbox pool is gutted because players with crossplay on and crossplay off don't get matched together. If the feature didn't exist we would all be able to play together. If it existed as I suggest, where it still matches you to your own platform regardless of which option you choose and in fact prioritizes matching you on that platform and only uses crossplay to speed up the que times, then I wouldn't have an issue because I'm not being punished with longer than normal wait times by having it off.

  • @Freki said:

    1) generalization means you equated ALL pc players that way. I did not make a generalization about you I made a direct comment on your attitude.

    2) it is an OPTIONAL feature.... use it or don't use it. That is for you to decide. if you turn it off you will (and even I do) get longer wait time for matches. that is a consequence of turning cross-play off! do not tell me that I don't understand what so ever when you actually can't decide if you get no matches or long wait times. please which is it? if no matches at all well i doubt that. See if I turn cross play off I am only matched to people that are on the steam client, not even the microsoft store gets in with the option off! I can't even play with people on other pc's if they are through the microsoft store yet you don't hear people complaining?!

I never called you specifically anything though, so I never said anything about you. I'm talking from my GENERAL experience.

An optional feature means that I don't suffer a penalty for NOT using. When you literally punish someone for not taking an option you are invariably forcing them to use that option, and therefore it is no longer an option. In other words, crossplay is a MANDATORY feature not an OPTIONAL one by the way it's designed.

please show your proof of tons of hackers? are we talking about 2000? 4000? 10000? wow... I agree there are some hackers here yes, maybe even 100's i don't know i've played against 2 i can verify in 2+ years and 3K hours. now I've played against people on crossplay platform blinding me as killer by shining their light to my right or left (comepletely away from me! then after that got fixed I laughed when they kept trying it for a day or two, now no one shines the flash light 90 degress from a killer anymore....

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752136#Comment_1752136

You are the one acting like a spoiled child. I am a PC player, you called me a potato and a cheater just because i play on pc doesn't mean i'm either, I don't want to play with an elitist so please turn crossplay off as I don't want to hear you whine. Now wanna talk about platforms? on the PC there are several platforms, but only two have dead by daylight. first is Steam, and players connect through the steam/valve connections, next you have the microsoft store and they are considered cross-platform because they go through the microsoft servers. (other pc platforms: Epic (hairball), GoG, Origin, direct pc (installed directly on pc not through a platform) and all of these are cross-play if they have dead by daylight). Xbox has 3 current active platforms: 360, one (all the series of the one) and now Xbox series X. these three are cross-platform to each other. Play station has the ps3, ps4 and ps5 I am pretty sure that the ps5 is considered cross platform to the ps4. but i have no hard data as no one from there has complained.

Now your point is that you get no games or it takes ages to get a match? well if xbox series x sold a million copies alread of the console i'd say there might be 1000-4000 people playing dbd at any one time, possibly more but they don't share stats like steam does! Behavior did not make it cross-play between the series x and the one, they made their software to recognize the differences between the various servers running them and that means microsoft has separated the consoles for some reason, it is not behavior's making though they MIGHT be able to fix that I don't know. You re-write your argument each time you say it, originally and many other times you complain about long wait times then in the same post to me you complain about not being able to play at all. The option for cross-play is on by default actually mirrors your cell phone. imagine that when you buy a cell phone they turn the cell connection off because they don't want people to be charged more because they make calls well these people get a cell phone and call it defective and so the cell phones are connecting to cellular signals by default to prevent this. cross-play is on by default to give people the best chances to get matches. You can turn it off so thus you have a choice, the consequences of that choice is for you to deal with, not behavior trying to stop you from doing anything.

"I am a PC player, you called me a potato and a cheater"

I didn't actually. I was making a generalization. Furthermore that shouldn't nullify my points. Why I think a certain way doesn't change the fact I shouldn't be forced to play a way I don't want by an OPTIONAL feature.

The rest of your post says you didn't actually read or understand what my issue is. I'm not going to explain myself again. Go back and re-read what I was saying.

there are literally tons of hackers on PC. And that’s not me just saying that, there really is

Good point, though not why I turn off crossplay.

Been playing DBD on Xbox since the game came out, I have close to 3.5k hours. Guess how many hackers I encountered on Xbox?

    ZERO.

I was hit with a lagswitch/standby 3 times, twice was the same dude on the same day. But that was back before dedi's, and that's not hacking it's just manipulating your connection which can be done on other Xbox games too.

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/206257/bhvr-thanks-for-forcing-me-into-crossplay

You seriously have a chip on your shoulder. Behavior is not forcing you to do anything. They have enabled you to do something. So here it is:

    1) Crossplay is an option, you can toggle it on or off thus you have a CHOICE.

    2) if more players wanted to turn it off then it is not behavior forcing anyone of you to do anything players are not behavior.

    3) you are insulting enough to say that if you enable crossplay you only get potatoes and cheaters is insulting to everyone that plays that isn't a cheaters and calling someone a potato just because you think you're gods gift to players I don't care if you are or aren't. I've seen damn good players on pc, ps and xbox.

    4) crossplay only enables you to have access to more matchmaking options, it does not block you from playing with others what so ever. How ever if you have it off it will stop you from joining a lobby with anyone that is considered cross play.

    5) if the X box series X is considered a different platform than the xbox1 then you have a choice, go back to xbox one or turn on crossplay or even keep it off and deal with the length of matches. just because you got an xbox series x doesnt make anyone else get one, hell i didn't get a ps5 and wouldn't have been able to even if I DID try as I was not in a place to order when the places started selling them EARLY! gotta love retail over selling, price gouging (not seen this time), and playing favorites.

    6) your argument was broken in my first comment and then it was shattered in comments 2 and 3. refute them if you wish but I am glad you are one that is a xbox elitist because that means I'll never face you. YEA this is a win for me and everyone else because you won't turn cross play on. You must be a barrel of laughs at parties, and also if the x box series x is a different platform you will have talk to microsoft about making it such a different console that it reads as a different platform! oh wait it's a NEW unit, different specs, new commands it was going to be this way from the begining when the console was first talked about! use common sense.

    1) It's not an option. If I turn it off I'm punished with longer que times. That's literally forcing me to eventually move to crossplay because over time my pool will shrink more and more as people switch to crossplay on.

    2) No it's BHVR forcing me because they made it so that you can't play with someone ON THE SAME PLATFORM that has a different crossplay setting.

    3) You took it as an insult, which is why I don't want to say why I want it off. It doesn't matter to the conversation anyway, because I CANNOT turn it off on Series X and even if I could I'm punished for doing it with longer que times. You just wanna get mad and shame/bully me for my reasons to turn off crossplay, period end of story.

    4) "crossplay only enables you to have access to more matchmaking options, it does not block you from playing with others what so ever." FALSE. If you play on Xbox with crossplay on and I play on Xbox with crossplay off we can't play together unless you literally invite me to your lobby. The matchmaking system puts us in different pools. It 1000% blocks me from playing with others.

    5) Series X is not a different platform. It is Xbox. I bought an Xbox to play on Xbox. Imagine if they separated players on Steam by crossplay such that if you have a better computer you get put in a different pool. Also LOL at mentioning I should downgrade my Xbox to play with crossplay off. You can't be serious with that.

    6) Broken in the first comment? LMAO because I don't want to tell you why I don't want it off that's a valid excuse to not let me turn it off. Yea makes total sense. LOL. Imagine telling someone they can only play how YOU want them to play then get all salty when they don't agree with you.

Not a dev, but if you were matched with players who turned it on, you would be imposing your choice on them, since they now can't be matched with PC, PS, etc., players because you can't be matched with those players.

No you wouldn't because YOU ARE ON THE SAME PLATFORM. No one wants crossplay to specifically play with people NOT on their platform, they do it for faster ques. Find me one MF'er out there that supports crossplay on PC that wants to play with nothing but PS4 players all day. I'll wait.

But yea it's fair to force me into crossplay with longer que times when off than to potentially force someone out of crossplay without actually affecting their que times.

    @Sonzaishinai said:

So you got a next gen console, something most people either have to wait on or got their preorder delayed and are now complaining about being given the option to play against other platforms instead of the small pool of people who have a next gen?

You would have to be a fool to turn off crossplay so shortly after the release of a new console.

You turning the option off while it's so obviously a bad idea is your fault not the devs

It says XBOX on my console. Therefore I should be playing with XBOX players. They didn't do this when the X came out. Series X is not exactly next gen in the same way that Xbox One was next gen to Xbox 360. It's different. I'm on the same platform.

Also DBD is the only game where I have this problem. My other games run great and don't have issues like this. This is a problem with the GAME not my platform.

    @Xpljesus said:

No idea why you are getting so much stick. I am presuming your point is that crossplay off should mean you can get matched with your own players who have it enabled on your platform only - rather than hardcore separation of the queues. Seems reasonable to me.

I'd actually be against this because of personal reasons documented in my comment above, but no idea why you are getting so much ######### for a super reasonable suggestion (and also, your suggestion is how I thought it would work initially)

Yes that's exactly my point. I shouldn't be in a separate pool from other Xbox players if they have crossplay on. It's an optional feature, and therefore the game should prioritize matching people on the same platform and only use crossplay to fill in the gaps when necessary/available. Also so that you can play with friends on other platforms. It 100% should not be made in such a way that I'm being forced to use it if I want a reasonable que time. I'm literally punished for turning it off, why these other people can't see it and insist on wanting to know why I have crossplay off, which is irrelevant, is completely and utterly astounding to me.

And people wonder why this forum is so toxic. Thanks for at least understanding my point even if you disagree with it. No one else even gets what I'm saying.

    @praxZ said:

Matchmaking was bad before crossplay. Guess what? It's still bad.

You're on a console that runs the game at a locked 60fps, you shouldn't be afraid of facing PC killers now.

If you, for some weird ass reason, only want Xbox survivors on your team then you should only be matched with those who think the same (which are very few, since honestly it makes absolutely no sense)

It's not the killers that are the problem.

Well if you and another guy join a lobby and he has x-play on and you don't, then you will extend Q times for him since your setting makes it a no x-play match.

No it wouldn't if it prioritized your own platform first and only used crossplay to fill in the gaps.

There are plenty of players on Xbox for normal que times. But as it stands, if you play with crossplay OFF your que times are way way longer because the pool is way way smaller than it should be, since it doesn't include other Xbox players with crossplay ON.

Ok, so you are upset about having to have it turned on. Great. You have posted your opinion on a public forum. For discussions. Ok.

You don't want people asking you questions (which normally will be asked, because a good *discussion* is based on information), you don't want to answer quesrions. So what exactly is your point posting here?

To just vent? Sure, but then don't be upset if people actually engage in a discussion with you.

You say that your main point is that you have to keep it turned on to play, because you play on one specific new console. That is your problem. The player base has to still grow on the platform. Crossplay has helped a lot of other players to find quicker matches. You want to be catered to because you don't want to play with specific players. So the main problem for you actually is them and not crossplay. Which makes the questions why you don't want to play with them valid.

"You don't want people asking you questions (which normally will be asked, because a good *discussion* is based on information), you don't want to answer quesrions. So what exactly is your point posting here?"

Dude I said like 50 times why I made the post. My reason to turn it off has nothing to do with the fact that I'm forced into crossplay and can't turn it off.

I want it change to what is a reasonable implementation of an OPTIONAL feature. The way it's in the game I'm forced to use it. As it stands I am punished for not using it.

But imagine this: other Xbox players turn off crossplay because they don’t want to play against platforms with better performance (eg PC).

and i am making a huge assumption now and may be wrong but: next gen Xbox also has better performance for this game. So there are many Xbox players you wanna screw over their optional feature just because... and there we are. No reason. Just because of you. Nothing else.

No one turns on crossplay to play with players on other platforms and not their own. They do it for faster que times. Whether or not you have it on shouldn't prevent you from matching on your OWN platform. It should prioritize your platform first.

Also I am still on the Xbox platform. I shouldn't be prevented from playing with other Xbox players. Performance and everything else is irrelevant if I'm on the same platform. I bought an Xbox to play on Xbox Live, not on Xbox Live sorta but not really.
