Maybe I'll explain why I still think it's power creep despite them filling similar roles but requiring different styles to accomplish it. Think about bicycles in most cases they have been totally obsolete by the creation of the vehicle. Both require completelt different methods of interaction to get them to work but 9 out of 10 times a car will perform better and faster then a bike. This is real like power creep. Yeah you can say legion has suburb tracking ability just like how a bike can go off road. But ultimately ghoul does it all better why does style even matter.
Well, maybe I’m not really good in proving what I am thinking
So advising watching video from Straco. Small channel, but I am more likely to agree with his viewing of power creep

Your definition of power creep is far to narrow ghoul is in fact just a better legion. Legions frenzy mode does not guarantee a deep wound like the ghouls power does. Legion speed is outperformed by the ghoul's lunges. Aside from tracking utilizing legions killer instinct the ghoul outperforms him in every aspect
So, that’s why u play this killers differently. Legion (in his prime) supposed to play as massive slowdown for the team and constant map pressuring, so he is not pure chase killer.
Ghoul in opposite, have to play by chase, his map pressure can be good but he’ll get more value by having short chases.
Their mechanics seems similar, as well as their difficulty of play. But the only reason why ghoul is considered as power creep, is because he is simply better by numbers. Their design for actual gameplay is still different. If u buff legion to guarantee easy first him for him as for ghoul (like he can not be stunned/blind during his frenzy mode for his first hit), he maybe can even be better as ghoul himself, because he has killer instinct in addition. But yet, I’m pretty sure even after unimaginable buff both of them will be played different.
Same with Dracula vs PyramidHead. They are played absolutely differently by styles, but Dracula seem in tier higher because despite his power being nerfed by being unable to hit through textures, his power simply harder to dodge + he has incredible mobility and synergy with perks compared to phead. But if u give at least same synergy with perks even after caging (while survivors still deprived by activating theirs), for him, suddenly he will be actually overpowered killer and yet played differently compared to Dracula. Again, despite sharing something, they are absolutely different. Real power creep is when u get absolutely same character, same playstyle, by different numbers.
If we talking about actual meaning of term that came from collectables card games
-
The amount of downvotes just proves your opinion, huh…
Some people genuinely want to believe specific side is under princess treatment, so they can deal with the problematic design by blaming their opponents
-
Are u sure the new power creep is caused by new mechanics, rather than selecting the best from old killers and buffing numbers?
Imagine Onryo if she had no cooldown for her teleports like Springtrap and her tapes punished survivors. I bet, she will be one of the best killers for slowdown even still being weak in chase.
Ghoul is the only exception we got after blight (that was many years ago, so idk why many people believe the killer role is overpowered) and his high position is justified only because u can eliminate inexperienced players being inexperienced yourself, while other killers require some skill ceiling. It's not “power creep”, because if we compare Legion and ghoul they have similar designs (easy first hit + slow down by deep wound, as well as enraged/frenzy mode) in principle and they should be played differently. Power creep is about the same game style but with better numbers. I don't see it. U don’t play Dracula as a pyramidhead/spirit/wesker, u don't play springtrap as u should play huntress or onryo and u don't play ghoul as legion.
The illusion of power creep was created because after years of creating and asking for anti-systems of everything for killers people who play on them prefer buffed by numbers characters rather then better designed by mechanic (in my opinion), but weaker in number killers. Because who cares if onryo teleports seems so nice, and actually forcing interaction from survivors, while springtrap has infinites from the start?
And that’s the reason they don’t buff old killers. Because new one in comparison can start to look as some kind of cheap parody. And that's why u’ll never see buffed survivors, because I’m pretty sure no one wants to face only ghoul and nurse in their games, cause others will turn out being unplayable. Survivor’s queues already feels longer than killer’s, despite meaningless fog vial nerf

I wonder why it’s happening…. :D

If by fixing they made it useless again, then yes they fixed.
This was suppose to prevent excessive hiding and this match of mine shows it (unless the totem scenario is true, which just means they have to tune it).Idk, not sure game in current state can be balanced even around this moment
-
After fnaf update and issues with crows, it seems…. They maybe fixed it?
I saw only one person with crows in all matches I can remember now
-
Now I trust nightlight way more than official tracker, at least because people can manually updates data, it has much more control (games where u were kicked out of server because of technical issues doesn’t count, while on official it counts as dc and then escape/kill for other side) while bhvr’s barely track 5% of my matches and doesn’t allow upload records myself
-
So, this paranoia u described is justified. Maybe that’s WHY it’s worthy to give every item charges?
-
Just a cutie pie sleeping in shopping centre
-
I’m just genuinely impressive about arguing on this thread. That’s… a lot
-
Maybe it would be nice if Pyramidhead had some kind of mobility/stealth mechanic in the base kit (in Silent Hill he always appeared out of nowhere or was presented as multiple creatures)
Some of his perks can be reworked and changed, in the sense of lore. Like game afoot/friends till the end, as chasing obsession, or making perks that help with punishing survivors after a specific decision:₽ deathbound and forced penance not really usable tbh, if not building entire build to counter specific group of survivors
If we talk about simpler changes, I wish to remove that red glow before projectile hit, because it makes it so easy to avoid a hit on longer distance, while on short he has 4.2 move speed and makes so easy to just shift w. And of course, some updated animation when grabbing survivors or breaking pallets (why he using legs when have such a big damn sword idk) -
As person who used key with iri addon before or maps with boon build I still find anything except med kits/toolboxes useless. Even flashlights more about doing extremely risky behaviour with (maybe) some kind of reward

That plus I'm all Ears. My current mood consists of using 4 Aura Perks on Pyramid Head to get as many through wall snipes as possible.
Decided to be a little challenging and currently running him only with lethal pursuer and non iri addons (my most popular loadout is videotape + misty day)
On a stage to learn counter fakes and getting used to his new broken flicks.
-
And about the actual BBQ value… I noticed that extremely experienced players don’t blindly run to the guy they only see at the BBQ.
- How long person probably worked on this gene? If at least about 30-40 seconds, and this gen isn’t important don’t waste your time.
- If u see only one guy, other two probably nearby. Use some deduction method or intuition for finding survs nearby if hooking them more relevant. U can prevent safe rescue in some cases.
- Even if u didn't chase someone because of BBQ, it still provides good info. Example: u saw guy, but he is too far away on gen. But later, when u won chase nearby this place and gen still didn't pop, 100% the survivor is nearby and still working on it. U can get a snowball value from short slug, and chasing perks on gen to pause their progress there.
- Maybe u can be acknowledged about distortion, or person knows how to counter bbq. Some info about opponent level in game + their build
-
BBQ hugely overrated on killers without great mobility. Wesker doesn't have good teleports, so I’m up to claiming bbq on him isn't great option.
If u like run exactly him as killer, nowhere to hide, friends till the end and even eruption brings more value
-
Just thinking, at this stage the only way to counter this is doing snowball and then trying to catch survivors on healing. Many people with heal meta are so oblivious so trying to heal when killer is nearby
But u have to be insane killer in terms of macro. And having some telepathy for guessing right every time.
-
tbh, tryharding mmr that shares lobbies that bring the strongest load out to game is only valid thing. And I’m pretty sure it will lead to less toxicity, because try hard on both sides accept that fact that tunnel or genrush is valid as strategy and no one (usually) won’t throw some kind of tantrum in endgame chat later because they expected “chill game”
-
Pyramidhead and zanshin tactics
Probably the only one killer, that can get actual value from this perk

I'm willing to bet most of that are the servers. Almost every trial has really strange lag and gets unpredictable.
I feel robbed every time when I don’t get that hit/vault
Don’t really mad because I’m pretty sure opposite side was robbed as well in some moments
-
They need provide more clear code on him, so any insta hug techs, and everything else people using on him had more clear conditions that both killer and survivors understand.
Especially if we remember tech when he is slide around pallet if catching a timing after dropping.
Like idea that infection doesn’t provide hindered. That makes his main ability small buffs justified
-
Games are extremely annoying now due to the bugs.
I did hit through pallets - survivors screams, animation of the hit, but nothing happens. They themselves complain on bluetooth hits from my side, while I see how they teleport off the spot after being down.
U don’t miss skillchecks on survivor - but game decides different. And this painful on both sides. After they updated engine optimisation went so bad, so I keep facing with minor delays every match :/
Also, do u also notice that sometimes after quitting dbd u get weird message from unreal about errors? -
Do you really wants so?
Killer proxycamp when he understands he had bad play and need some pressure for snowball. Or when he really needs to eliminate survivor as fast as possible.
I’m playing pyramidhead and often I can’t use camping a lot because I prefer cages system. I genuinely have more pressure as killer when I don’t proxycamp (exclusion - I’m doing one perk challenge now, and I don’t have anything for good pressure on gens, so I prefer snowball in such moments) , but I really prefer having insta hook and insta chase after.Survivors can punish killer for camping by gen efficiency really well. I was punished several times myself and know what I’m talking. Killer can punish for late rescue only, but he will def lose if u’ll put him in situation when u did rescue (even while trading) having babysitter in build while your teammate had something for anti tunnel and he CAN loop.
When killer proxycamp in zones such as basement or dead zones, where hook rescue is really problematic + killer has some gen there was pressure, than yeah, it’s really problematic. But it was since the beginning of the game being hooked in basement as deadliest scenario. My only advice is forcing chases in places from where rescuing won’t be that problematic even when killer camp lover. If u take chase in shack with basement, it’s another risk-reward - looping killer in shack is easier, but if killer had good chase, he can take his own prize.
But yeah, camping enjoyers = free gens. Use it. Solo suffers mainly because of three people standing close to the hook and just watching . One have to do gens, other to have to try to trade/or making save rescue

Just curious, are u living in the country that is relatively close to servers? Just wondering, is it affecting only people who lives far away as me, if yes, maybe it’s optimisation issue and we have to wait for a week-two before being able to play normally

PTBs are mainly for the hype nowadays. The thing is, BHVR only has a few days after PTB-Launch to push the Patch to Live, since it takes around 2 weeks for all platforms to launch the Patch. So there are only a few days where feedback can be considered and most of it is basically used for the Hotfixes.
@Topic:
As I said before, PTBs are mainly for the Hype, so I dont expect that they will change anything. Furthermore the big PTB-size was due to an engine Update, usually PTBs are not as big as they were with the TWD-PTB.
But I agree overall, I think they should do a different approach and offer more PTBs. And one step for that would be to have a separate PTB-Client, which is inactive/not accessible when no PTB is live, but when a PTB is live, players can update it and play the PTB without having to leave the Live Servers. This would also allow it to make PTBs accessible for other platforms aside from Steam.
And it would allow for more PTBs and more testing outside of the regular 6 weeks period you have for Chapters and Midchapters.
They def can’t keep up with a pace. Studying game design myself I just understand that they probably don’t have enough people to work on project up to deadlines they planned. And that’s since Wesker release, I assume… technical minor issues go unsolved for months, and the tangled code remains a complete mess.
Then they decide to update the engine... and we're in tartarus :₽I hope they’ll be more clear with technical struggles and allowed themselves to have time to fix everything instead of working on every new chapter. Quantity over quality always leads to income drop later
-
PTB would be more attractive if more changes was adjusted to release after it. PTB now feels more like “try buggy thing the first if u can’t wait for your fav char rework or some additions”

Or we can admit that items are a game design feature that the system is balanced around survivors having. A game balance, I'll add, that includes survivors dying 60% of the time.
You were literally just in another thread saying this:
I’m also always question myself, why some people trying to impose how some people have to play. Like “don’t bring this perks” “don’t genrhsh” “don’t tunnel” “don’t do saves or play in sfw”.
So why are you now here, effectively saying "you aren't allowed to bring items"?
Absolutely, as well as old FD, that was the only way to counter specific items if the player wanted to. It’s not a base kit. As well as items aren’t base kit.
I’m pretty sure survivor dying in 60% times isn’t correlated to old FD, and I’m pretty sure numbers won’t change. So, I just politely suggest not to try to get off topic, to say at a convenient moment "x group wins more often, so any nerfs will be justified". No, they are not justified, and no, nerfs are not always smart and lead to the planned result.
About FD - my point is that another counterplay doesn't exist anymore. We don’t have an overwhelming presence either. At the same time, builds around the item like build to last still exist and are popular, so this is not about the impossibility of dodging the item, it is about the impossibility of playing off someone else's build in principle. Less engagement with trial, more about killer vs perk or killer vs item instead of killer vs team play or pure skill.
And again and again. Let’s give survivor buffed info and encourage them for teamplay?
Why, when we can evolve gameplay around a single item and forbid the killer to counter it, for a cheap illusion that it’s the only way for survivors to win.
U hate Ghoul because he isn't well designed, and kills engagement in trial, yet you appreciate the same from the other side. Okay, your choice and whatever.
As more u try to push the other side from playing for countering playstyle and just accept “something exists and u can’t do anything”, the more DMS + SH u’ll see, and the next attempt to find FD. Even when it’s the survivor version of FD, like the current fog vials that were nerfed to the ground.
So why are you now here, effectively saying "you aren't allowed to bring items"?
Because FD is a simple perk, optional gameplay to counter other optional gameplay. Its interaction is the same as Genrushes vs Killer with a pure chase build. Or anything else. Part of the RGN and part of the interaction between the opposite sides. Current FD is just boring and alternative doesn't exist, so yeah, I’m up to say people who say old FD is toxic are the same who try to forbid others to play in a specific way.
Like those people, who said that fog vials shouldn't exist because they counter aura build. Not “let’s make it not spammable, to prevent abuse but save usability”, but “just make it useless”
Like those people, who said antitunnel perks shouldn't exist because the main point of tunnelling being uncountarable and oppressive. Not “well, tunnel is easy and sometimes only option to win, but survivors need to be able to outplay it, bringing something and sacrificing whole slot”
So why it shouldn't work for items?
Hey. I’m that type of person, who despite being annoyed by people bringing full meta builds in sfw accept this. U can bring your damn friend till the end on ghoul along with bamboozle, and I’m going to accept this. U can play with your power struggle build in sfw with 4 flashlights and flip flop + unbreakable, and I’m gonna accept this. Even if I found this boring/not fun because at that moment I’m playing opposite site, I’m not trying to forbid yk. I’m not gonna call u toxic, bad player, noob or sth. “Boring” is my max.
But, it doesn't mean I won’t try to dodge it by tunneling someone, or if we tell abouf something less oppressive, than FD.
I’m not gonna say “nerf it” until it’s some kinda conviction that allows u to pick up yourself before oni’s animation finished. I’m fine with people bringing ds, 4 tool boxes ant everything else. I never humiliated on people or asked head on with ds not to exist at all.
But… but… if u aren’ t gonna let me to play around it and bring FD because one day I just wish to focus on chase rather than dodging 4 syringes, that’s exactly about telling someone how they should play.Aboud forbidding and imposing. That's not your skill, that’s not rgn, that’s not perk for denying your playstyle. That’s about “I don’t like the way u can counter my playstyle, so you shouldn’t have any rights to counter it at all”
Genuinely, I thought my post about us vs them were pretty easy to comprehend
-
@BrightWolf said:

Exactly! Any killer that has a mechanic around downing from a distance or slugging as part of their kit/gameplay will be put at a disadvantage because they won't be able to cross the map fast enough before the survivor can pick themselves up.
Every perk and playstyle should be counterable.
But, it’s in their core power… they meant to down u from far away distance lol, because that’s the only advantage they have…. They have to play as m1 just because u healed teammate?
Or it’s a hint to play ghoul with hard tunnelling?
-
A lot of people asked for giving vials charges only. Like, clearly, few seconds of disorientation isn’t bad until it happens your every chase lol.
I hope this terrible nerf will be reverted to the time they will bring charges to vials. I wish some Silent Hill moments still, even when personally my ears are bleeding because of muffled sounds and cause headache:(
Now we just have another contribution to us vs them war…

So we're back to complaining about Franklins now?
Why is it not enough to make someone drop their item? Why is being able to erase or cripple a survivor's brought item such a sticking point with the killer community?
It doesn't Thor hammer itself back to the survivor's hand - they have to remember where it was and spend time going back for it (if they even bother doing that). Do you think a single M1 attack should earn the killer more than that? Did that killer go out of their way for that M1? Were they otherwise not planning on hitting that survivor?
We either admit that items from survivors can be balance breaking bringing them the main trial advantage basically for doing nothing (even less than m1), or we admit that items aren't such a big deal so it doesn't matter are u losing it or not.
In both cases, OG FD either equals to lightborn (counter specific thing, but u sacrifice whole slot instead bringing regress/chase perk), or, that’s kinda situational perk that doesn't bring much value without lich’s combination.
Tbh, why perks from other side should give u something else than disadvantage?

that is absolutely a lie. The only way that happens is if it is paired with at least two other perks..
the same thing can be said about several killer perks when they are paired together with other perks. So you are blatantly being disingenuous here. It takes a total of eight seconds for you to be able to pick yourself up and the cool down from an M1 is not longer than eight seconds. You are just straight up lying.
what about huntress/phead/artist/twins? They can down survivors from afar and need time to go there. Don’t want to mention trapper with purple addon even.
every killer perk can be countered or requires condition that makes perk useful in rare cases

reading comprehension for the lose. I said it isnt game breaking which is factually true. The game works fine, everyone can play and killers can still kill people with this perk…its just harder. Additionally, I have seen less than 5% of my teammates with this perk so it is additionally a marginal impact on the game.
So to summarize, learn to read all the words and then use your grey matter to understand them.
As well as streetwise, it gave unfair advantage, I explained why.
Nor the blood rush, or streetwise was breaking the game, but it was rational decision to turn this off. Because it was breaking balance. I can read really well, don’t worry
-
As person who plays 50/50 I’m just tired tbh.
Nothing in between. We either get spammable fog vials that cause many accessibility issues, or nerf them to the point of being completely unusable.
I’m also always question myself, why some people trying to impose how some people have to play. Like “don’t bring this perks” “don’t genrhsh” “don’t tunnel” “don’t do saves or play in sfw”. And this affects every discussion about gameplay as well
-
I’m pretty sure the issue was that cause streetwise effect was undesirable, while clown, clearly, working without bugs. His issue in balancing, and I hope it will be changed later, but he isn't greambreaking. He kills pace of the trial and lower skill ceiling, that’s his only issue.
And killers tried to warn that changing him is bad idea
-
Killers queue still takes a second so
-
As russian member of community, I also very acknowledged about problems of cheaters, because Russian streamers tends to be persecuted much more aggressively, despite being big content creators for their region. The PADLO, Meydix, NightFuryo3o, AbaDead, Mudler constantly suffers from DDOS, but they are cannot speak out loud compared to other content creators on EU and USA side, due to language barrier.
Big english-speaking creators tends to be harassed much less, maybe because cheaters aftaid of being followed and caught, or maybe the issue is that in Russia and post soviet countries it’s easier to distribute cheats, I don’t know, why. But the amount of cheaters here phenomenal. Only my reports was accepted 3-5 times…for last… month? Two?
Cheater can crush servers and increase match making ban timer even if they weren't in match themselves . And this happens kinda frequently. Even not streaming myself, I was persecuted on few matches and game was unplayable basically.
-
Really? I thought it was working and equipped myself even.
I also noticed weird bug with scratches marks not appearing even when survivor is running in front of me, creating huge gaps
-
Breakout was buffed recently…
Sometimes I run anti hook build. Background player, toolbox, breakout + flashbang/for the people /unbreakable
I liked to use it only when person is on death hook. Killer NEVER expect it, so u can do 100% save in solo. And probably will bait killer enough, so he’ll try to chase you.
If u like attention from killer and good saves, really advise this option
-
as a person who loves vigil myself, just forbid stacking. Before being 40% it was useless and not great.
-
chain up of 2 blinks is hard. I can’t do this well personally
If it’ll be onle blink + they’ll adjust movement speed (because one blink + 3.8 simply unplayable option), the change will be like for clown. Less skill ceiling. No one wants it I’m sure.
U can't nerf nurse because her OP is in core mechanic of her ability. Survivors has to manage sources. Nurse ignores sources, she doesn't care about palettes even.
-
Personally, I think they should takes no condition to activate it. The only way to justify single time use, as unbreakable.
If make them more uses as buff, it would be extremely broken.
-

i think fog vials definitely should maintain a strong effect but they should be limited use per item.
unfortunately i feel like they'll nerf them until their usefulness is similar to the map, or key. just another niche item that you're not going to seriously use over a medkit or a toolbox.
that seems to be the direction they've taken most survivor perks. very few things stand or are really game-changing like maybe they once were. so it'll be more blandness.
I’m up to follow such mindset. The problem they makes overbuffed or annoying thing, and later nerfing to the ground. Making stuff limited is enough already

“No offence, but…”
No need. U already said enough, and that “but” doesn't work. Your only argument revolves around belittling one part of the players.
You were the first to shift the topic from statistics and the game to an attempt to characterize an entire group as worse than another
-
Every killer has limit of their power, cooldown or something. Except extremely short, like for clown now, ghoul, nurse or blight.
Every killer that had three type of powers gain limited power from other killers. Dracula can’t hit through textures above survivor height, his dash is more limited than Wesker’s/demo’s. Vecna mediocre killer, as well as springtrap, they aren't “high tier”
Only few addons actually game changing. Many killers don’t have game changing addon, or everything becomes clear after few seconds of chase with person, so u can get “this Myers definitely tombstone/infinite iri”I’m agree with no neccesity to nerf vials that harsh. But nothing about killer power here. Every side get controversial treatment that mess with their gameplay. Maybe it's time to stop us vs them treatment?

I don't think they could adjust his auto-aim any more than it already is, because his hit-scan is the way that for player accessibility.
I read somewhere around his release that in pre-alpha, BHVR wanted to make his Kagune Leap a skillshot-based attack like Slinger's harpoon. However, it was deemed too clunky and difficult to use for the player playing as Ghoul, especially if the player was on console (it was also apparently bad on PC, but console was atrocious). So it was decided that the leap would be made into a hit-scan like Sinngularitie's biopods, for ease of access for console players and those on PC who prefer to use a controller.
So I don't think they could adjust the aiming any more without making him too clunky to use satisfyingly.
That’s sad

And you aren't with the advice of throw the game by cleansing five dull totems in case the killer might have noed?
I didn't advise doing it, clearly. U can cleanse NOED before killer will hit someone, because it was randomly spawned in front of you. Or u can die because of this perk. It's RGN, and yet has counterplay
Reading messages with prejudice is really important, if u want to look toxic
