Imagine if this anniversary there isnt a new killer, the announce the 2v8 mode!

They cant properly balance 4v1, what makes you think 8v2 would bring anything good at all?

And how do i make people heal me? Last game i found an injured teammate, healed him, and he instantly run away without healing me. And that was not the first time or a single incident, it happens again and again, mainly because the killer usually goes for the weakest link if he comes to your gen

Strange, its really rare that i experince that, i do also play on EU servers and i do play survivor like 90-95% of the time. I also have survivors that drag the killer to me and then block me so i cant go away. You cant fix stupid with perks. But if that is happening often to you, bring a medkit.

I am a former killer player, and gen speeds made me switch side.

Funny, i used to be a survivor main, and played more and more killer because it was so easy ^^, unless you get a hardcore swf.

But i only became a 50/50 player when my main killer, dredge, was released, because he was just the thing i really enjoy. I still play hag and doctor, and other killers for challenges or dailys, but dredge is my main killer.

What part of solo play do you feel got worse?

I dont notice the healing nerf tbh.

DH was (still) way to OP and super abused.

CoH is dead, but hey bring a medkit, thats what i do and it works, you can also use bond instead of CoH and find someone to heal you when needed.

I already answered that, the part that got worse is the killers tunneling and camping even harder than before.

I dont care for the DH change at all, personaly, because i didnt use it before, and i surly dont use it now.

I run bond since forever in my build, but on european servers, there are a lot of players from different cultural context, and they tend to not heal you, because if you do a gen together and the killer comes up, he usually goes for the weak link, aka you if you are not healed.

I had 1 game after the patch where i found another injured survivor, healed him, and he just run away to run behind the killer with his flashlight without healing me. And it happens often enough here. CoH was a good way to fight that since the self care nerf.

And thats where the spiral is, if i am going to try survivor again, i will have to go for genrush, because self healing isnt worth it, teammates are not reliable even to heal you, and speed is the only other option, if the killer tries to tunnel one guy out as fast as possible. And then they will complain about gen speed again.

Regardless what your opinion is, exhaustion perks will and always will be a problem. It only becomes less of a problem if they get nerfed til survivors refuse to use those perks. Dead Hard is still used even after the nerfs thus they're not nerfing it hard enough. Killer regression perks are nerfed to obsolete so killers have to find replacement. Survivors? No, no, no, they get a slap to the wrist nerfs and call it a day. SWF are now abusing Boon: Circle of Healing instantly healing eachother to full health. Dead Hard is still prevalent since they are adapting to it. The perks hasn't changed at all for survivors... again, and they managed to make Circle of Healing stronger. Gg, wp.

For solo survivors, boon of healing became useless, so it did very much changed for them. Thus, at least parts of your statements are wrong.

  • Because usually, team shooter games are symetrical, while DbD is not.

Imagine you play a team shooter, and one side has an automatic disadvantage. The communication vs not communicating might amplify that disadvantage, until it becomes gamebreaking.

Also, shooters depend a lot more on individual skill, while in dbd, individual skill only helps you so far. In a team shooter, one guy being worse skillwise than average does not too much to unbalance the match. in dbd, it breaks the match.

While i don't agree with them and think it's very sad it is within their right to leave feedback this way. It's what it's there for.

Smart people just learn to make their own mind and not blindly listen to steam reviews.

It is kinda interresing, community is bassically saying to BHVR to never make any drastic changes again and whatever they do never listen to the community again.

Pretty much everything that was changed was asked for in large quantities by the community. And in the big scope of things not that much has changed. 4ish perks got nerfed and the most busted item survivors had was toned down but still is the strongest tool they have.

For BHVR this makes things very easy. Just go back to supersafe changes. Clearly people hate change. They secretly love running the same perks over and over again. What a joke

The problem is, that behaviour insists in keeping swf and solo survivor in one system, with killer balanced somewhere in the middle.

So every balance change to move killer closer in balance to swf moves them further away in balance from solo, every buff to survivor might affect swf even more than solos.

Just from my point of view: As killer, i pretty much beat most solo teams i encounter, and the more casual swf. Sweaty swf, i usually have a really hard time, and this are the matches that frustrate me.

However, the last changes did nothing to me, because if i beat solo anyway, it doesnt matter how easy i beat them, while at the same time, the changes are not enough to help me against sweat swf at all. As a killer, this patch affected me next to not at all.

As solo survivor, however, it got even worse. Part might not even be the changes themself, but the change in killer behaviour, because since the patch, every single match i had a killer camp or tunnel, because its even easier to do. I am at the point where i dont see any sense in playing survivor at all, so i play killer or another game.

  • Well, ask yourself. Would you recommend this game to some of your friends at the moment, if they want to play solo survivor?

I certainly would not. As killer its ok, as swf its still great, but as solo, it gets worse and worse.

I stopped playing survivor after some matches with the new patch, because in every match, the killer was camping and/or tunneling. So, there really is no point for me playing solo at the moment, and since i play 50/50 anyway, i just stick to killer for now.

  • Well, my survivor games after the patch included the killer tunneling or camping every single match. Since i play 50/50 anyway, i just play killer instead for the time being.

To be fair, after the 6.1 patch killers tunneled and camped like there was no tomorrow too, but it all eased down after a few weeks, and i expect this time to be the same.

As a killer main I welcome sprint burst and lithe into the meta. I can’t speak for all killers but these perks are better to go against than dead hard.

”you will just complain about sprint burst after the dead hard nerf” nope. I don’t mind it.

Since i believe the "you" referce to the sum of killer players, not to you personaly, take a look here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/373107/so-instead-of-deadhard-everyone-is-just-using-sprint-burst-now#latest

    Other killers do already complain.

  • What do you mean by toggle?

I mean, you know you can just select a cerain item and the bloodweb takes the shortest path there, and can use auto-buy whenever you got what you want.

  • Update: Playes as Trixter and Demogorgon for dailys, and they dont have the endscreen-Issue, seems to be Dredge-related to me.

  • Not a killer main, more like 50/50, but killer games for me havnt changed that much. Still stomp solo queue, swf is still a problem for me.

  • For me its more like rysm, i dont get hits i should have. As survivor all seemed fine, but i had some killers missing hits on me, and now i question if it might have been the same issue or if they just legitly missed.

  • I have reported the same error. Also, nightfall bug.

  • True, thats why killer will still ask for more nerfs because they still cant keep up with swf.

  • @solarjin1 said:

My experience been the same as it always been. You play with a decent swf u probably win and anything else u likely to lose. That pretty much why i play killer 80% of the time now . still losing my solo q matches (don't feel any different) and to no suprise I'm still winning most of my killer games. Every update i like to go back in for a good 20 games to see is it playable without my team behind me.

This is exactly what i felt like yesterday. Solo queue isnt worth it at the moment, since a lot of killers seemed to be determint to tunnel and camp as hard as they can, and solo queue got even worse. Just like last time, and like last time, i think it will ease down in about 2 weeks, but i think i stick to killer for the time being.

  • The thing is, why is Gen speed a problem?

Let me ask you this, what is your usual outcome of a match at the moment?

And more importantly, what should it be?

My killer matches are really easy in most cases, i think my kill rate is around 80%, and thats because i dont slug for a 4k, and every other match someone gets out.

Sadly, my solo survivor games are matching those results, since the number of matches where i escape have taken a deep dive down. Sure, it is because every other match someone hook suicides or outright dcs, nonetheless that is the outcome.

So, if i am anywhere near average, the kill rates are rather high, and increasing gen times would shift that even more into the direction of the killer.

So i think the devs are aware of the issue, but might have another goal or view on what a balanced match is than you have.

  • I have an addition: During the last match, i noticed that nightfall seems to be a local thing now, since it doesnt apply everywhere. I was at the killer shack, hooking a survivor in the basement, and while the basement and the outside of the shack was in nightfall, the inside of the shack (or at least a big rectangular space inside the shack) had bright daylight. Not Sure if it is related, but its something that happened.

  • Healing is nerfed, and i see more tunneling and camping. Yesterday, it happened every match. Genrush as an attemped to counter that maybe.

Youd be surprised. I have seen it in some discord servers people calling it annoying. And we know how bhvr nerfs perks based on usage.

This. Also, its a community feature, no matter if killer or survivor call for it. Whenether something gets nerfed, they just move on to the next item on their list to have it nerfed too.

  • Those 2 being separate things also mean something can be both at once, because they dont contradict each other.

  • @mustdogen said:

    Do you have video?

I really wonder how well the killer play that can make 7 hooks without any gen done.

    Literally how?

Even if only one of you do gen

The killer still has to get 7 hook in 90sec.

With 3 x 25% gen regression its quite possible i say.

  • I noticed tunneling has increased once again, and almost all matches today had either tunneling or camping. Yeah, thats really boring. As killer, however, matches were even easier than before.

  • No, i find this playstyle boring. I mostly run bbq, to have a clue where to go next, and be on my way.

  • Well, i skipped 3 licensed chapters so far (saw, the ring and the second resident evil), so i might get some of those. But maybe i will wait for a sale, i am not sure about that.

  • I mainly play as dredge with a side of hag.

As killers, i mostly see Nurse, Blight, Wesker and Nemesis. Seeing some killer other than evermending legion is nice from time to time.

  • Well, i play both sides 50/50 and i dont think its survivor sided at all. But i only play solo queue, and as killer, i usually destroy solo queue. SWF is the problem here imo, but it always have been. Doesnt mean the game is survivor sided, its killersided unless you face an swf. Solo queue is the weakest faction, swf the strongest, and the killer in between so he will usually win against solo and a lot more often lose against swf.

  • Sure there are ways to be a nice survivor, a lot of killers just don´t appreciate it.

If a new rift is out, i take a look at the challenges (i play both sides anyway), and some challenges can be very hard, especially if tied to a killer who you dont play often.

Helping killers to complete the challenges is something nice in my opinion, however a lot of killers think they did it themself (like huntress challenges, even if you could dodge the axe but didnt on purpose).

Bestie allow me to say some words. They don't want a fair game. They want their sides to get easier just to have steamroll games to fulfill an ego more massive than the Titanic

I dont think that is true. steamroll games are boring, after all. The thing is, neither side wants to be steamrolled.

And again, too few people really have an idea how balance should look like. A lot of survivors argue from a solo pov, while killer usually tend to talk about swf if they demand nerfs. Both sides are kind of right, and the fault lies with the devs for not seperating solo and swf queue.

I for one play 2 sides, and the changes that were proposed were a loss-loss situation for me. Because as survivor, it would have really made my matches worse, while as killer, it wouldnt have helped vs swf in the slightest, which is the only time i really need some more to go on as killer.

How is this in any way evidence of good play? 2 escaped. Also, just because the majority of survivors are bad doesn’t mean we should look the other way when it comes to comp teams. It doesn’t justify getting the killer demolished by top % survivors.

Just so i know what your point is, what match result, given equal skill between killer and survivor, should be the norm?

  • Well, i just give up as survivor if the killer successfull manages to tunnel one guy out at 4 gens left. No reason to keep playing just for the killer experience. Just go and try to find a decent match.

  • Well, if all teammates are so bad they dont stand a chance, killers might be op.

  • I dont complain, i just play killer instead. I was playing killer/solo survivor 50/50 anyway. i used to be a solo survivor, but solo survivor gets more and more miserable, while killer keeps getting easier. And while you are right that the problem are the survivors for the most part, you have no control whom you get paired with as a solo survivor, and usually, you cant carry a whole team, or mmr is not working.

  • @Blueberry said:

"that means throwing solo survivors under the bus"

Which is essentially what you're wanting for killers when they vs skilled swf then, to get thrown under the bus. Games are better balanced top down, not bottom up. When it's top down those bad survivors can change their outcome by improving at the game, but if you balance bottom up the people at the top have literally nothing they can do. One balance strategy gives everyone agency, one does not. Players always need agency.

The thing is, that solo survior cannot improve to a level of swf with total information and reliability, even if the information part could be given by the devs, the reliability-part can´t. Thats why it would just kill off solo survivors.

And just to be clear, while i was a survivor main for years, i played both roles, and have become a true 50/50 Player, so i win AND lose either way.

But still i think seperating solo and swf is the only way to do it.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3378815#Comment_3378815

"but most killers will always try to get the 4k, and thus, tunnel."

I disagree. Just because they want a 4k doesn't mean they're always going to tunnel.

"Lets say you can get a 2k easily without tunneling (which i think is the state of the game actually). Them people would still tunnel to get the 4k."

You are only getting a 2k "easily" in the current state of the game if you're going against potatoes at low mmr or you're tunneling. I want the game balanced around a 2k without tunneling and playing fairly against equally skilled high mmr swf.

"So making tunneling not necessary for a 4k means killers get the 4k anyway. Why should survivors play at that point?"

No, it does not. If you made the changes I talked about I would also want more measures in place to make tunneling way, way harder and less efficient to do. Your statement is very hyperbolic.

But thats the point right there. you want it balanced for killers for skilled swf. But swf still have a huge advantage over solo survivors, and that means throwing solo survivors under the bus, because even with the hud, they cant compete with the level of coordination and information swf have.

The only resolution for that is to part solo and swf queue, and balance them both seperatly. But they wont do that.

  • @Blueberry said:

I’m down for making tunneling less effective if we make it less necessary and slow the game down.

That said, I vehemently disagree with the notion that the main reason killers tunnel is because it’s the easiest route to winning. Do many do this? Of course. But I do not think that it is even remotely the majority. The majority that tunnel do so because they feel it’s necessary and would do it way less if the game was better balanced.

So while I am in favor of making tunneling more difficult I do hypothetically in this scenario think that if you had solely added more objectives for survivors you would indeed see a massive decrease in tunneling even though some would still do it.

This is the crux of the controversial topic though. Some people think the majority of tunneling is because it’s easy and some think the majority is because of how unbalanced the game is making it necessary in many games.

But necessary for what? Only for a 4k, or for any kills at all? A 4k is a straigt win for the killer, but not a balanced result, but most killers will always try to get the 4k, and thus, tunnel.

Lets say you can get a 2k easily without tunneling (which i think is the state of the game actually). Them people would still tunnel to get the 4k.

So making tunneling not necessary for a 4k means killers get the 4k anyway. Why should survivors play at that point?

  • @dollidahlia said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/368793/otzs-tunneling-experiment

There’s an easy fix to both tunneling and doing gens being boring. Add another objective. It would massively reduce the amount of tunneling

Why? The last time killers claimed that tunneling would go down if gen times would go up. Gen times did go up, and killers tunneled even more, because they simply have more time to gain now. What would be different with another objective, unless its a killer objective?

I’ve seen Otz and d3ad hit a Dead Harding survivor. Let’s put the idea that it only works against bad Killers to rest.

The thing is not if they hit it. The thing is do they regular lose to it. Do they? Is their kill rate below 50%? I highly doubt that.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3376230#Comment_3376230

I keep hearing this. If that is true why are there at least 2 Survivors with it in every game? Something must be wrong with Survivors to use such a weak perk so consistently.

Play survivor, pay attention to the hud and you will discover that there is a lot wrong with survivors.

Also, its only weak vs good killers, and ok vs bad ones.

  • I am missing one releveant information, so i just ask: What is your optimal outcome as killer? Around what metric should the game balance gen times and chase times?

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Im scared to ask, but how did the community come to the conclzsion that tunneling takes no skill?

Like "winning two chases on the same person" taking no effort?

Or does tunneling now include facecamping? Did they update the definitions again?

Most killers dont tunnel the guy they already took 3 gens to catch, they usually tunnel the one they got after 20 seconds. The problem here is mainly matchmaking, because it seems to use an average of survivor (on solo queue), which means while 2 survivors can be better than the killer, the killer just needs to find the 2 that are not as good, tunnel them out, and the match is over anyway.

In such cases, i just go afk. The killer wants a boring match, he can have it.

  • I have given quite a few latly, mostly to killers which were outskilled highly but tried to play a fair match, and in one case because my teammates where a 3swf which bullied the killer.

Also, several killers have rejected that offer.

But that is a very recent thing for me.

And to the guy above me: I think quite a lot of billionaires got their money from poor people, in most cases by keeping them poor.

  • I think killer mains overestimate the effect of the hud greatly. Neither my killer games have changed much since its introduction, nor the outcome of my survivor games. The main effect is that you know when to throw the game much earlier now, when you see its going nowhere

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3373819#Comment_3373819

I would guess the post is meant ironic, sarcastic or something the like.

Its a jab at survivor whining about getting bled out, meanwhile they most often wait the full 3 minutes until egc is over to have an audience before leaving.

Of course those groups aren't necessarily the same but for example from my experience the latter is far more frequent than the former even without any provocation (anecdotal from a friendly/fair playing killer).

The thing is, as survivor, i leave as soon as i know all other survivors are save. However, as a solo survivor you dont always know. Thats where the hud does a good thing, becaus if no survivor is in a chase (and thus less risk of being downed) i can just leave. Has nothing to do with audience (also if its an instadown-killer or i am on death hook, i leave anyway. Just trading places does nothing for me)

  • Well, one reason to dodge is survivors changing to another survivor last second.

I play hag as second main killer, and its a killer whose powers is countered by flashlights. So yeah, i dodge whenever i see more than two. However, with people changing survivor last second, you cant do it before, so yeah, learn to live with it. Maybe someday they update hag, maybe to prevent hooktrapping, but also to prevent her powers being taken away by a yellow item.

  • Not that i play only solo queue as survivor.

    My build usual is

Bond: to get the information what my teammates are doing, and where. More than once an injured survivor in a chase came straight at me, and i could take over the chase or tank a hit for him, or avoid them completely if i was on dead hook.

Clairvoyance: way to many matches start with a dc or a hook suicide. At least i got a fighting chance.

Boon:CoH or self care, depending if there is an active totem challenge in the rift. You cant even depend on teammates to heal you, way too often i had teammates that leave you injured so you are the easy target if the killer shows up.

Last one depends on mood, or dailys, or whatever, usually lithe, because it activates when you want to, sometimes proof thyself, if noone else brings it (although most people dont even answer in pregame lobby), sometimes fogwise, or something else.

Lol devs reward tunneling and camping by nerfing survivors? They literally gave survivors basekit bt with haste and pretty much every information about the match on their hud. Also, dead hard lasted 6 years and is STILL the most used perk in the game. You arguing just to argue huh?

And before that they first nerfed gen times to make camping even more viable. Also, dead hard was nerfed. Yes, its still wildly used, but so is self care. Do you think self care need a further nerf?

  • @Zaydin said:

And Dead Hard quickly reasserted itself into the meta despite being 'nerfed'.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LGHXT6CJQBMY/dead-hard-is-overpowered.jpg

A match where literally every survivor had Dead Hard just tonight.

Dead Hard got nerfed with a scalpel. Eruption meanwhile no longer has any real use since the main reason to use it was not the regression, it was the Incapacitation. The aura reading it has now is an utter joke and useless for most Killers.

To be fair, dead hard got nerfed in a way a lot of killers suggested. Most of them said the distance gain was the problem.

They might have been wrong, however, devs nerfed it, and in a way the community suggested.

The fact that you just ignore that fact in the opening post discredits you from the start.

Also, yes, coordination breaks the game, but there are killers, tactics and perks that need coordination, or they become oppressive. Thats why eruption had to be nerfed.

The problem is, that they want to keep swf and solo in one system and balance around both extremes at the same time, and that simply doesnt and will never work.

  • @Tishus said:
