God tier nurses are still god tier nurses fam
Whatever you saw they will bend the knee like always.....because bhvr is spineless.

Lol "over preforming" what a joke that is talk about speaking in technicalities

Nurse was free tho
I don't care if she is free bhvr shouldn't bow to casuals just because they buy overpriced cosmetics.
-
DBD lives because of its dlc yet they seem to be nerfing any killer worth anything and bhvr should be ashamed of themselves over that nurse "rework" its pathetic.

whats bad about video games appealing to casuals
Casuals are seldom retained players its a bad idea to cater to those who aren't gonna stick around long term.
-
I wouldn't be surprised about Huntress being next on the "unfun" list but catering to casuals who aren't retained players seldom works out.

Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell.
Is this why nurse was screwed over? "fun" its a subjective thing your game isn't a horror game if you nerf every killer that can actually kill. So if the killer is no longer fun aka nurse because of changes no one asked for how is that "fun" for people who play killer who is next in line Huntress?
-
"Fun" is a subjective thing and not one you can consistently balance a game on its very subjective.
-
@Peanits said:
Is it true that you want to nerf Spirit? I suppose that's up to you to decide.
I'll be honest after he nurse changes no one asked for I'm highly skeptical of the Spirit "changes" nerfs for fun right?
-
No one asked for nurse base kit changes but bhvr wanted a power bar I think...
-
Spirit=dc seems meme worthy to be honest
-
No I'm not she can be countered its harder yeah but she can be. Of course Scott is good at the game so maybe survivors just suck?
-
I play both and I think both need increased difficulty but I don't know if devs want harder gameplay.

You don’t need 4K hours to not be considered a casual and as for your Bloodborne comparison, I love facing spirit and can counter her but I don’t find Bloodborne fun.
Well you must be one of the few smart ones on this forum then because mention spirit and tears and salt fly.

Unfortunately, the devs only considered input from one side of the community.
The devs were out of line with the base kit nerf.
I consider the nurse nerf a blatant pander for casual players who aren't even retained players they do impluse buys though.
-
Listen as far as I'm concerned the devs are catering too casuals so they will buy their overpriced cosmetics. Nerfing spirit and nurse is blatant catering to the lowest common denominator casuals don't even play DBD for 4k hours but in short spurts so they cater to them on nerfs? I imagine the devs think Bloodborne isn't fun because its too hard for casuals :( A hard to beat killer is a good thing when most of them in DBD are jokes.
Spirit isn't fun devs please nerf so I can do my boring gens :'(
-
God forbid a killer kill....honestly this game going more casual is going too kill it eventually
-
Pretty sure thats what is cratering the playerbase right now
-
Honestly DBD is developed in a echo chamber as shown by the idea of balance and the changes they keep on doing. Nurses base kit was fine it was her add on's but no bhvr includes a boring power bar for some reason...
-
Those updates always seem to not go that well for bhvr 🤷🏼♂️
-
They made a unstable build somehow was it all the moving parts?
-
If the recent tests have shown anything and the fact they are still live they are far from ready.
-
But if they skip even one dlc the game takes a big hit. But the games health should be more important then dlc and cosmetics.
-
They are gonna force servers

Now, I ain't no economic person, but wouldn't it makes sense that they'd earn more money in the long run by being less scummy? Happy players make happy customers?
It would I think and good publicity as well

I'm not denying that their calculations seem to have been way off. All I'm saying is, as implausible as it seems for them to have gotten it so wrong, in my opinion it's even more implausible that they deliberately fed us false numbers because the only way that would make sense is if they are either stupid or bad at business or both, and we've already established that they are neither.
Not be cynical but I don't see bhvr as our friend we are a consumer of their product. And they want as much money as they can get
-
The battle pass seems like you would need to put in excess of 200 hours just to get to the end maybe. However given all DBD's complications with servers and stuff it could be well over 200 hours at the end of it and even by then you might not get everything.
-
70-80 hours is like the most optimistic scenario we aren't even counting dc's and other game breaking bugs. And matches that don't even load up so 70-80 is like maybe optimal play.
-
Casuals won't make this game survive in the long term.

I just saw this and I am honestly starting to get pessimistic about the rift.
I am still planning to play the free route and try to get as far as possible and see what tier I reach but I am starting to think I won't get far. Unless the devs get enough feedback about it from the survey and change things.
Bhvr has shareholders that want a certain profit to be made and the battle pass is a way of satisfying said shareholders. Even if its scummy which it is they are beholden to these people
-
The battle pass is a complicated issue ad I really do remember the days when we got rewards the old way.
-
You will also deal with disconnects and other issues that hinder progress.

Battlepasses are inherently trash no matter the game. Also please for the love of god use linebreaks, dont just post one big block of text.
Well i'll agree with that most are trash.
-
Well the archive rift was made so people could get more "lore" supposedly however Lore isn't worth money. Also I think the rewards aren't exactly good on the premium pass a lot of it besides the trinkets you could get with shards if you wanted or those bloody cells.

The "free" stuff is just there to bring you in. There is a whole lecture on it called "Let's go whaling" on YouTube. Goes through all the psychology of getting people invested without them spending money, once they have gone from habit to hobby the monetization hits hard.
Same thing with the battle pass. You will see yourself leveling up the tiers even if you have not paid for the pass. Maybe some cosmetics you want, so you get the pass. The thing is individual sets are separated by the tiers and some of the gaps are pretty large. They even have part of a set in the free tier and rest in the paid tier. Unless you are spending hours a day during this game, you will not finish it. You have already invested time, energy, and the initial $10 into the pass. Are you going to miss out? It is time limited after all. What is the solution? Paying to increase the tiers with real money.
I took marketing this certainly falls under that kind of manipulation but again they don't want you too think about it.

Reminds me more of Red Deads battle pass honestly. Red Deads is a bit better though.
$60 game, premium currency to buy pass can be earned in game without buying the pass and you can finish the pass in around a week or less.
All Red Dead has over DbD is time required and the auric cell equivalent can be earned at base.
Overall though Red Dead has worse practices despite being significantly more expensive than DbD to buy.
Battle passes are making their way into expensive games.
I'd rank them both pretty bad in terms of ethical ways of making money but yeah Rockstar is a major offender for sure.

Imagine paying the developers to be able to grind for content. Battle passes stink and I'll have no part of it. Free stuff is cool I guess but not worth the full buy.
You can do a battle pass right however bhvr isn't doing that obviously I was unaware how much they had pay walled it though.
-
@ProfessorDunwich said:
I'm going to give you support right off the bat. I made a thread about this a couple days ago and got roasted.
Tonight I learned the battle pass is far worse than I thought. The requirements to complete it obscene and not feasible for a casual gamer. That is the point, because you can pay real money to move up the tiers. They have every incentive to make it as grindy and unpleasant as possible. To make it even worse, the Halloween event is tied to the battle pass.
These are free to play monetization tactics in a game that can be quite expensive if you buy the chapters and some cosmetics. Unfortunately, more and more full price games are doing this as well, simply because gamers allow it. That is how we went from Horse Armor 15 years ago to where to we are now.
But DBD isn't like Destiny thats what people aren't getting its not F2P this is a F2P model on a game that is actually pretty expensive plus all the dlc and throw in like 3 cosmetics it will be over a $60 game in price easily
-
Nah they won't do that at least in any reasonable form.
-
If it were F2P I would however DBD isn't so we get into the ethical issues of monetizing the game when you have dlc at $5+ and cosmetics at $10 a piece which is overpriced. Again $10 isn't a lot however stack it with currency and such then there starts being issues of monotizing everything like say EA would. Its just milking your player base for money when things aren't being fixed properly or are delayed into eternity.

Oh.
Well, the free one needs to be mediocre enough in order to give the paid track its value.
The wonders of psychology
-
I just think the free rift needs more unique rewards :)
-
How about people feel its a ripoff as they paid for bhvrs game and all the dlc and still get nothing in return but bhvr saying give me all the money for a premium pass...I still feel dlc should come with auric cells. But then again I'm a consumer and want more bang for my buck
-
I mean she is still S tier but other killers compete for that spot now like huntress you can thread the needle more now.
-
Well Freddy has it so spirit should have it as well
-
Shouldn’t spirit be undetectable in the spirit world? Hey devs give spirit the undetectable status affect 😃
-
Nurse you just use stealth against but survivors don't wanna do that.
-
@justarandy said:
The ONLY "issue" with Nurse were her addons. Her basekit was absolutly fine, it was manageable.
3 seconds might not sound long, but in dbd 1 second can be the important variable between hitting or not. For me, 3 seconds sounds like a deal breaker. I'm going to use up all my good addons, moris, BPS, puddings etc and leave Nurse alone.
You know what the worst thing about this is? As survivor you will see even less Nurse players at Red ranks and much more spirit players and spirit is clearly the most hated killer to verse, much more hated than nurse (see: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/91696/who-do-you-hate-the-most-to-verse).
Im speechless. Why touching her basekit when majority was only complaining about her addons. Noone was asking for that besides some baby potato survivors.
I think these changes are made in a echo chamber and vacum as a lot of changes are illogical or just bad.
-
They want all spirit mains I think and she has less counter play then nurse

You do know that they already stated that you’ll already very nearly have a blink charged by the time you’re out of fatigue right?
Plus she has add-ons to further reduce the time.
We shall see how it actually plays on paper its not promising
