  • Yes, it's been a bug since Wesker's release unfortunately. I reported it over 2 years ago. Affects controller using survivors only, Steam, xbox or playstation users have all experienced it.

  • From what I've heard, the fix never worked for controller players.

On Steam with controller, I've had numerous cases of this still happening since the fix went live.

  • I suppose we need to consider that design and development of the event this year suffered due to their shift of focus to QOL changes, which we all did ask for in fairness.

  • This is happening me too. It's been a bug since the day Wesker was released.

  • Oh god, I love them for that. Most people DO mispronounce coup de grace. I was watching a streamer who managed to get all THREE of the words wrong.

Can we also give lessons on how to pluralise survivor names too? its 'Leons' not 'Leon's' and the plural of Nancy is Nancys not Nancies

That would be a huge buff for survivors, because they could use it to figure out if the killer is nearby, even if the killer is undetectable.

    Ah, fair!

  • Is there anything to be said for each individual survivor seeing where their AFK counter is at, onscreen on their own HUD?

  • A big tip would be to find 2-3 killer mains on YouTube and see if they have a ''this new killer's build destroys survivors' videos to get an idea of what the current perk meta on the new killers is - you'll typically run into a TON of killer players copying the build (which is fine, whatever) so its useful to know this to try counter it.

But to address your post, yes you're right and a tutorial would definitely be useful but will typically have the problem of getting outdated quite quickly if/when the killer gets inevitably tweaked, and god knows BHVR seem to have enough on their plate as it is…

  • I think there's a bug where your directional audio can break if you interact with the doors, so people are avoiding them for now.

  • It's unfortunate they didn't get a Scottish person to do an actual Scottish accent for Taurie

Is this still occurring in 8.7.2a?

    Hi Jocelyn,

I haven't played recently myself but I did see a streamer experience this early this week.

Sometimes I think I spot it when watching other survivor streamers who use controller - Wesker slams them against the wall and the camera sorta sways/pans side to side while they're pinned to the wall. I'm not sure why this effect happens as I haven't spotted it on keyboard users streams - perhaps whatever this effect is, it's unintentionally lingering after the survivor is given back control of their character.

It's a difficult one for me to try replicate as you can probably appreciate, so I can't really offer any tips on how to accurately recreate this :(

I don't know if we're holding down a stick/button when the slam happens and this is triggering something… or if even Wesker's addons has anything to do with it.

I'm aware of other people having this issue but it doesn't seem to really get reported - I'll bring it up in a stream chat and a few people will say 'oh wow I hate that too' so I do think its generally being underreported or people seem to think its part of his power.

I will be following with you on those specific threads; thank you for the link!

Could this be looked at too please? Despite the title, it's not platform specific as I've had it happen on Steam, seen others on Steam experience it, and even PS5 players. It's something to do with the controller handling. I was watching a streamer two nights ago who experienced this bug.

    Hi,

Since the Wesker release, I've had an issue where most of the time after being hit by Wesker's bound attack, I will lose control of my camera.

The camera will feel as though it is fighting against the user input to look in any direction other than straight ahead. This makes it really difficult to get away as your view is constantly swaying in multiple directions.

This doesn't always happen. I've had this across different controllers and have no issues whatsoever with these controllers other than when being hit by Wesker's bound.

I'm not aware of doing anything differently from when I get affected vs not. My camera sensitivity is 80%.

I've seen other mentions of this by other controller users (both xbox and playstation) but those have been kinda vague.

Here is a video of it happening.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj5FHk5QSJY

Notice my camera starts swaying.. almost like I'm drawing a figure of 8, even while Wesker is still in the motion of slamming me towards a wall.

Is this something you're aware of?

  • This fix was probably nothing to do with code but maybe a particular material/texture file needed replacing or was accidentally missing - something that can probably be patched in quickly because it can bypass Microsoft and Sony's testing phase? I dunno, just guessing.

And/or a fix that can be done by the art team and not require an actual gameplay programmer or engine programmer to get involved.

I find that Survivors focus too much on healing, especially against a Legion and Oni.

I have no proof, but im pretty sure Im the one doing all the Gen progress in EU atm.

There's a big incentive to heal at the moment: https://x.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1924510437636202646

  • I'd be more inclined to play 2v8 survivor for longer if there didn't always seem to be guaranteed one killer on 120+ ping

Horrendous take. If you don't live in a region with good server availability (which is a lot of the world) what are you meant to do to rectify that? Get banned for being born in the wrong place?

I agree high ping hugely benefits one side more than the other, but the fix should be to make higher ping less beneficial on outcome, not ban people that live in the wrong place.

BHVR won't ban people for this but at least it raise awareness to 'buy more servers' or whatever.

  • Once they added Legion, there's unfortunately no going back - they can't really remove him now from future iterations which is sad.

  • Just bring them back, you'll make loads of money!! If it was that simple…

  • He is also interestingly, frustrating to play against on controller too due to a bug that's been in the game since August 2022.

  • Doctor gives me a headache. I've had to take my headphones off when playing the particularly shock-happy ones. Two Doctors in a row is usually 'close DBD for the night' for me afterwards.

  • Swarm is IMO the best controller survivor when it comes to vaulting. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6DOa3567D3I

Sometimes the key is when you press the vault button, requiring it to be done at near the very last possible moment. If you can, take a run at a tricky window a few times without vaulting, and look for that brief moment when the prompt text at the middle bottom of the screen changes to 'fast vault' or whatever it says. It might only flash up briefly, but that's your window to do it.

Sometimes you have to grind along the opposite wall as you're running and then turn last second to give yourself enough spacing and momentum to hit the fast vaults :)

  • It's not even SWF, "hmm.. I'm on a gen, and the HUD tells me the other 3 are also on gens…"

  • Blueprints haven't been in a thing in the codebase for years, from what I recall McLean saying.

I think they're generally doing OK but I'd speculate they run into difficulties because there's so much content being developed and worked on simultaneously.

And yeah, they can hotfix stuff pretty quick if required - I forget what it was, but I remember a hotfix coming out last year on a Friday evening? Was it a final fix for the Trickster flashing lights issue? But the Wesker thing isn't a big enough issue to deviate from their standard patch release approach.

  • Nope, that's an issue for controller players who haven't changed binds isn't it?

The only thing you should be getting caught by is the lockers near vaults as those do share a button.

  • Don't forget console certification so you need at least a week time lead on all patches.

Meanwhile, everyone is yelliing at them for introducing new bugs because they're rushing things…

  • Just had this again, on Steam (Win 11 x64 Home) on an Xbox Elite 2 connected via wire.

I'll attach logs this time for what it's worth.

As the issue isn't always occurring, I can only think it's caused by having the analogue stick or run button held down as Wesker hits you. You have to stop moving for 1-2 seconds to fix it and get normal control of your survivor back, which of course just means you're a free two tap.

It's been happening to me on and off for years now, across I think three different controllers (that have no issues otherwise in DBD or other games) and also was happening me on Xbox.

Have confirmed with Playstation and other Steam (controller users) users that they experience this issue too.

It's definitely something in the controller input handling code on your side. Please fix……………….

  • It's funny how they'll Urban evade constantly if they get that class… you always see them speed-crouch waddle up to gens :D

I had one urban crouch spin in a doorway and not move on RPD while I was trying to get through :(

  • This is still happening as of patch 8.5.2

Why is reporting bugs such an utter waste of time.

  • Every Wesker seems to have awful ping too. Why are players with 500 ping allowed in my games? I was getting rewind sucked back in time to last Tuesday every time he used power.

  • One healthy bot ran past me yesterday as I was on hook about to go second stage, to unhook someone who'd just been freshly hooked first time. Then, made that unhooked person come and get me. I was about a stones throw away from them.

  • Legion players should be made wait 40 minutes for a game

  • The server(s) were horrendous when I played last night too - Trying to walk towards a gen 10 meters away and constantly getting 'rewinded' back 10 steps. Killers hitting from an eternity away or standing swatting the air repeatedly with nobody near them.

Half the players on the team had their ping showing as '0'. The game was genuinely unplayable.

  • Like go through the ceiling on The Game or the other indoor maps and hit people through the opaque ceilings?

That sounds awful to go against tbh.

I played against a South African streamer once. When I watched their vod after the game, at one point I was chasing a Survivor that was totally invisible on their screen. They could rescue them off hook, but obviously couldn't heal them as they couldn't see where they were once they got off the hook. It was funny to watch.

I don't know if that's a ping related issue, but still it must be rough being sent to European servers all the time with 250+ ms ping.

While I'm glad to see they've added another UK server, it's kinda amusing that it more or less makes no difference to me anyway with it being in London, since I'm probably closer to the one in Dublin.

You mean they added 'A' UK server, along with EU West ;)

  • This is being under-reported unfortunately. Another Reddit post about this issue from last month but unfortunately I don't think the person reported it here also.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1i0j2vh/does_anyone_else_on_consolexbox_have_their/

  • Make sure you're not holding down the run button

  • Yes, that exactly ^ in a lot of cases. I never even remember what perks the person I play with uses. I obviously can't speak for everyone but I definitely care more about making sure they survive, and I know they won't let me down intentionally.

  • My Steam DBD (about 8 hours playtime) and my Xbox DBD (my main account), which are not cross-progressed, when open right beside each other, will have different BP bonuses.

  • Oh to add, I just saw your other comment on a post someone made about the Houndmaster being OP, where you replied,

'Skill issue she’s so easy to counter'

Maybe you could try being more helpful to other people in future?

  • Scratch mirror is incredibly boring to play against but not difficult. He's slow as ######### if he tries to chase anyone.

A lot of it is just being hyper aware of your surroundings, the same as playing against Ghostface or a Wraith or whatever. Be ready to get off that gen immediately if you see him.

Try to work on a side of the gen that gives you the most distance to run from depending on where any doorways that he could pop out from are. Don't be afraid to hop off the gen every so often if you're feeling paranoid.

Let anti-camp take care of the hook camping, and if he's standing far enough back, sometimes you just have to make sure you're healed first or just trade the unhook, unfortunately.

Heal in the most open spots, react fast if he comes out of a doorway and run away.

Whoever is the obsession needs to assume he's running Play with your food and avoid going starting 'chase' with him (the music gets louder etc when this happens)… if you've enough distance on him and can make it behind a wall etc, walk and don't run until you break line of sight with him.

I dunno what other addons/perks a Scratch Mirror runs tbh but it'd be worth looking them up to figure out counters.

(A Chase is started whenever all three of the following conditions are met: A Survivor enters the Killer's Field of View within 12 metres of them. That Survivor is running. The Killer is walking.)

It's just a boring, boring slow and tedious process to win really, and you're probably screwed if you're solo queue, but it's not the worst.

  • Something went a bit wrong in the texture loading/refreshing or whatever, so there's placeholders there.

This isn't a big deal and is in no way anything inconceivable to 'mess up'.

  • I only play this game with my duo and we don't use comms at all, so I'd be quickly uninstalling the game if this ever got implemented.

    I don't even own a microphone…

  • Yeah I saw Alby doing this, inside a T&L, touching off both windows back and forth and him and the guard were literally running past each other (elbows touching!), with the guard ignoring him.

  • I thought 'The Troupe' was a trick answer to make sure we weren't blindlessly clicking and paying proper attention instead until I remembered that's the DND folks :D
