Each to their own but I can say that if it's me then I prefer drop down to their level, fight back and actually do something to make sure it doesn't happen to me. If people want play the "I'm not going to stoop to their level" great but be prepared to be hit with it time and time again. I won't stand on my pedestal thinking "it's ok I'm better than these people" while allowing them to throw **** at me, I'm climbing down to throw **** back
You do you.
But just to let you know, it's a cycle. Your actions keep it going.

It's not what I would do but I can see why some killers do it... Too long being bagged at gates and even pallets knowing there is nothing the killer can do about it. Years of survivor torment and toxic behaviour during match and post match...killers are fighting back lol
So basicly "we go down to their level to feel better“?
Great philosophy.

If killers are really complaining about it, I truly question what they have to gain, because it's not "a more balanced game." Most of us are in agreement "the gens are too fast!" So then why would they ask for a side objective perk to be nerfed? It spells absolute nonsense. I don't even think they believe in what they're asking for.
I personally have around 80-90% of my total playtime (which is 4k hours at this point in time) solely on killer. I get a lot of s**t for this when I play survivor because I'm so bad despite my hour count.
I have no problem with a good side objective for survivors. I agree, that if survivors play coordinated, that gens fly and most killers don't stand a chance.
However. This is not how you buff a side objective. This is not how hexes should be buffed. Making them almost uncleansable (100% uncleansable on some killers) is not healthy game design. Hexes are supposed to be high risk high reward. Some hexes are high risk low reward like huntress lullaby. This is bad as well.
Thrill however takes the risk completely out of the equation and makes hex builds a no-brainer.
To answer your question. Biased players defend this perk buff. People that want this game to be healthier and an overall more enjoyable experience call it out for what it is. A mistake that should be reverted.
But hey. People always defend stuff that is clearly too strong.Old Mft, old dh, old eruption, old boil over, old mettle, old undying... The list goes on. Gladly I can write "old" in front of all of them.
-
Thrill is hopefully getting nerfed because it's straith up too strong.
Not because players of one role complained about it.
Players of both roles complain about it with good reasoning.

Anything that provides survivors a form of agency is seen as "problematic" and OP.
If it were up to killer mains, survivors would have no perks, run at 85% speed, and would be constantly exposed.
It's like y'all feel a sense of entitlement to always win — and if you lost, for some reason, it must be nerfed.
Map offerings IN GENERAL are a problem NO MATTER WHAT SIDE BRINGS IT.
Please stop with the tribalism. People play both sides.

Licensing issues I assume.
I still want this to be in the game:
-
The worst thing about encountering a lobby like this is that you have to be ruthless to improve their experience. Letting them escape will only make it worse for them.
Maybe not ruthless (tunneling / camping etc.), but you know what I mean. Beginners need the bp the most and nothing gives more bp than escaping a trial.
-
No.
I've been addicted to Stbfl ever since I got Michael and have not deequipped it ever since.
The only time I got off something I enjoy was Sadako after her first rework. I gave her over a month to convince me but she absolutely didn't. Glad they revisited her.
-
Lara also needs one…
-
Still my most wanted license.
Bouncer big daddy with little sister as killer and either Booker or Jack as a survivor.
Map should be the ruins of Rapture. Just imagine a water based map, where you run through broken tunnels or water filled rooms.
-
It's Nurse. Almost everything that is OK is very strong on nurse.

Be real here.. "god pallets" don't affect the outcome of games and buy a survivor a whole 3? 4? seconds since most are in a 1 way area. Balanced tiles are far and in between and most maps are flooded with terrible pallet spawns.
I dont like tiles / pallest thhat are one sided. These weak tiles heavily favour killer, often leaving no real gameplay. Similarly, god pallets offer no gameplay to your usual killer. As survivor, you go down. As killer, you break the pallet. Thats what I dont like.
Its not about the outcome. Its about the gameplay experience.

People always complain on the forums, that’s nothing new. Is the buff a problem?-Yes, but not a big one.
After the last PTB for example almost no feedback got taken into account, which is very often the case. Sure they sometimes change things in the bug fix patches later, but that can be done without a PTB as well.
From my experience, a lot of thing change from ptb.
Saying that thrill is not a big problem right now is a bit of an understatement to say the least when people using the builds are slaughtering soloq right now.
Complaining on the forums is nothing new, yes. But I know its serious when it reaches old dh levels of complaining.

That's asking a lot of the average player. They don't even like do gens after they get interrupted once, or after 1 person gets hooked. But we're supposed to balance around them; they're not supposed to get good at the game.
Why the hate? A bunch of bad killer matches?

If they're uncleansable, then stop trying to cleanse them and do the gens. People are scared of Devour, but you can win by the time the killer has 5 hooks. That's what's overtuned.
I'm sorry, but you are delusional.

PTBs are mostly for marketing and player satisfaction. They aren’t necessarily for balance. Otherwise they would have to improve a lot more and be available for all platforms. Most times we get almost no changes from ptb to live, although so many people gave feedback about what problems there are.
Thrill isn’t even a big problem right now and it is better that the devs try things out, instead of always playing it safe. It’s more exciting to get changes directly.
First, a lot of things change from the Ptb.
Second, thrill is very much a problem right now. If you don't believe me, just take a look at forum posts. Every third is about this perk. And after testing it with my fellow pig enthusiasts and encountering it multiple times in soloq I'm convinced that the buff is way overtuned.
-
@Langweilig said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3850663#Comment_3850663
It is still fine to put changes directly to live as long as they are willing to correct them. If that’s the case I don’t see why the devs shouldn’t try out more more often.
Then what's the Ptb for?
It's there to test changes so that specific aspect can be improved before the live game has to deal with it.
Thrill wasn't tested and now we have the mess. This could have been prevented if they added this change on the Ptb for people to review.
-
No. I'm very certain, it's thrill.
-
Probably the same reason God pallets exist. To favour one side.

It was teammates back then, too. Bad teammates make any build look unbeatable, because they forgo coordination and strategy.
Some killers can make totems be uncleansable. This has nothing to do with strategy or coordination. It's plain overtuned.

Freddy is in heavy need of a rework. Hopefully BHVR does this as they did with Sadako, combining the good from old and new. A lot of people (including me) want old Freddy back and this could be a step in the right direction.
Myers just got an update but I'm nor sure if this is enough for him. Need to play him more.
Sadako needs some help in regard to tvs and tapes. Tape insertion is still way too fast and tapes don't really have any downside to them.
Ghosty should have his reveal machanically looked at.
Piggy still needs some chase buffs.

@danielmaster87 said:
This is so bonkers, that the perk's even being discussed. People have barely had a chance to play with or against it, and are 100% using confirmation bias to call it strong.
I mean look at buffed Predator. Everyone was losing their minds like, "Aaaahhh! The killer gets aura for losing people! We'll never win!" Nobody uses that garbage perk. It's aura. Big deal.
🫱 Similar thing with TOTH and totems. It doesn't slow the gens, except ever so slightly with Ruin. But you can just do the gens and run out like usual, or do the totems and make the killer guard them, thus taking them off gens and off priority chase targets. A killer will not be able to tunnel effectively and simultaneously use this build to effect. It's impossible, unless you just hand it to him on a silver platter.
Sadly there's a supermajority that just doesn't want killer to have anything strong. If we were truly arguing against stuff that's OP, it would be stuff that's stopping good survivors from doing even 1 gen, and then killing them all. Longer totem cleanses is not gonna do that by itself. That only happens with bad survivors. Like, what are survivors doing with their time? Why are you so adamant on defending low caliber players?
US vs them is strong in this one.
-
Justified nerf.
Please finally learn from this BHVR. Test stuff on Ptb.

Comp dbd is what another mode of play should be. Like ranked/casual queues. Many want it.
Also, its not mindless genrushing. It's just a strategy, like tunneling or camping. In this game, no one is allowed to have fun. This is the precedent set, and so it shall be.

No, it doesn't sound like farming. It's you assuming that a survivor getting off hooks means the killer will tunnel (not always true). It's also assuming that the survivor can't take a chase for very long, and that their safest place is on hook. In both cases, it sounds like the entire team falls apart the moment the killer starts doing their job, or applies any amount of pressure. Ultra casual mindset. But we'll never give the benefit of the doubt to casual killers, no. It's only ever a dominating killer against helpless survivors, never the opposite.
Excuse me?

I am responding to your first comment.
"You almost never do that either."
- Devour hope likely does not need rework, Maybe an increase of stack by 1 for the mori but i think it is fine as is.
- Part of reason why other perks fail to have much reward is because they're too fragile. I don't think hexes perk need more reward overall, maybe Hex:Retribution, Hex:Haunted grounds and Hex:Crowd control could use buffs but not urgent.
- Many of the maps have been touched upon or reworked. Hex totems remained weak despite said changes.
- Already exists in the form of hex:undying. Often the perk will at very least protect your totem if it spawns badly/gets cleansed early.
- I'd prefer base regression being increased over ruin being plaster fix to poor over-time regression.
1.) I dislike, that devour can do absolutely nothing when it gets found before it reaches 3 stacks. The mori feels outdated at this point and is literally just overkill. Tone down the overkill mori and make it more consistent. Nothing wrong with that in my book.
2.) Hexes are supposed to be high risk high reward. Perks like devour showcase that. They are supposed to be fragile. A lot of the hexes have the high risk but low reward. Therefore increase the reward to warrant the risk.
3.) More totem spawn locations means more time survivors have top run around looking for themn because the spot are not that obvious. Some spawns are downright laughable. Swamp spawns are either in plain sight or on the edges of the map.
4.) I want a basekit version. Using a specific perk to make it not gone before I can physically be there is not good design. Survivors can spot the totem and memorize the location but I want killers to have a fighting chance to defend it at least at the start of the match.
5.) Ruin is a hex. Can we stay at discussing them and not base regression?

the dev did something similar to what i wanted for hex builds. in my opinion, removing hexes is too easy and too time efficient for survivor. what i suggested was adding an extra life for undying to re-kindle itself. they buffed thrill of the hunt instead which resulted in survivors being less time efficient in for removing hexes.
Asks for ideas. Continues to ignore them.

This makes the perk mandatory for hexes to be viable, and without hexes are still not viable…. which is still ass from a design perspective.
why? the killer commits to a particular perk archetype and expects to get decent rewards from the archetype. Radianthero and Firellius are telling me that when you commit to this archetype, your should still have poor reward where survivor is entirely in control for your perks being relevant.
Pls dont put words in my mouth without tagging me. Thx.

This is not how these builds should be buffed.
Provides no follow-up.
You almost never do that either.
How can you buff hexes?
- Rework devour. It only activates (becomes cleansable) after 3 stacks. Devour can only get 3 stacks
- Buff / rework useless hexes like huntress lullaby
- Create more totem locations, so that totem spawns are more unpredictable.
- Make totems not cleansable in the first minute of the game.
- Rework ruin : 200% regression, disables after a survivor is dead.
These are just a few ideas.

Guys, I understand all of the frustrations because I did mention that I played exclusively soloq for the day, just to get the better understanding and more in-touch.
But still, overall\in general - the game feels the same, the gameplay is the same, there was no any drastic changes made to the core game, but adding anti-facecamp, base-kit BT, icons, base-kit yellow mori, and some new perks to both sides, which didn't particularly changed the meta. And yet the survivor players smh got worse at doing their job (looping, doing gens)? Genuine question: how?
Yes, they added some questionable tiles and loops with the new maps, the dead-zones probably because change or bug with map-RNG, but do you believe it's the main reason? Change in meta perks? Does meta changed much from the DH and Ult-weapon nerfs?
Honestly - my personal opinion: Something happened to MMR + influx in new players after 2v8 just completely jacked your matches, by matching low hour players with high hour + decent killer. And these low hour players "sabotaging" your games, getting you killed, doesn't do anything to make progress, making a lot of mistakes that benefit the killer player.
Call me crazy, but I genuinely think, this is exactly what's wrong with the game for now.
Possible. Personally, I know that im a relatively bad survivor. At least in chase. Im trying to improve every game if possible.
I dont know if 2v8 is the culprit, but i do die a lot more often to my team rather than the killer.
Did survivors get worse? I dont really think so. The game changes around all of. Some got better and adapted. Some got worse because they relied on very strong stuff that isnt around anymore. Some have problems learning how to play against each killer, because there are just that many at this point, and the game still doesnt allow to play against a custom killer bot. The learning curve as survivor is a lot longer than that of one singular killer and i cant imagine how awful the new player experience on survivor is right now.
Overall, I think there is no definitive answer. Its a mixture of all of them.
-
Counterforce isn't working in soloq most of the time. Others don't know that you have it and waste time regardless.
2 and 4 are good options.
3 sounds like farming to me. Sorry.

i suspect that the perk was tested internally extensively but was not put on PTB because controversial strength that it has. If this was put on PTB, everyone would red flag saying the perk is too strong and needs to be immediately reverted before ever reaching live servers. I like the perk because it encourages killer to use d Expose perks(Devour hope) to win over standard game-delay perks you are all accustomed by now. there is some game-delay component to totems but that is somewhat inevitable when talking about totems.
The backlash you describe would have been absolutely justified.
Devour hope is not supposed to be up indefinitely. A good amount of killers and perks can make it almost impossible to cleanse the perk. If stacked in a complete hex build, it becomes way too overtuned.
People here are not complaining about thrill + devour.
They are complaining about:
- Thrill
- Devour
- Hex perk of your choice
- Pentimento
Even with old thrill a build like this offered a very good amount of game delay because devour can't be ignored by any means just like pentimento.
Its too much with new thrill.
I like variety in builds and I very much like hex builds. My second favourite killer perk in dbd is huntress lullaby. This is not how these builds should be buffed.

A majority of players in dbd enjoy to win as fast as possible with as little effort as possible. Of course they defend something that enables them to do exactly that.

Fr - it feels like survivor players playing bad on purpose, or just don't care to try at all. The devs can't fix that.
I got close to not caring yesterday after 7 straight games of killer player harassment and around 12 awful matches total.
In my final match, I was so close to not caring anymore, but I pushed through. We got 2 gens done because someone just needed to cleanse totems with thrill of the hunt (no devour, no ruin, just croud control).
After that, i got Lara's prestige one level up and gladly logged off for the day.
