I mean, I'd rather be afraid of the killer because he's powerful and threatening instead of being afraid of the killer because the player behind it might waste my damn time for no reason so they can power trip.

It’s kind of like facing tombstone Myers every game. It’s not scary just very annoying
Define strong then because it sounds like strong killers are those who can catch and eliminate you but then the reply is Myers is annoying because he is strong and can eliminate you. Add to that anti loop is annoying, stacked slowdown is annoying, slugging and bleeding out is annoying, global effects and triggers like nightfall are annoying, anything that threatens players ability to progress the game as they please is apparently annoying.
Lets face it what people want is a strong killer that can’t actually prevent you from playing or eliminate you, in that scenario what makes the killer strong?
Then after all that you have to play fair because it’s not fun to be eliminated so there is one way to play which is largely detrimental to the killer objective.
So what is it about killers that people want to be strong because anything that’s strong appears to be unfair and annoying.
So you’d rather be afraid of the killer because he’s powerful and threatening… I don’t believe you.
Sounds like the “powerful” killer you want is as unthreatening as they come because there is zero game consequences to being caught.
-
It’d be a cool exercise in realism that would undermine the game’s variety.
prople would only play the survivors with the strongest perks, so you’d just get lobby after lobby of 4x same guy.
It’d be like a reverse nurse/blight complaint.

The gag was actually "you're willing to excuse some serious chicanery for the sake of The Thematics™", but sure.
Well yeah. I value the theme over the pvp experience in this scenario.
Mainly because what people complain about is stuff that is kind of essential to the game.
Why are you trying to escape if the fog isn’t scary terrible place to be?
-
because high end play is often highly competitive play.
Competitive dbd is blandly efficient, there is one thing that works best so you do the one thing one way all the time.
Games tend play out the same way with maximum efficiency and minimum fun. It’s kinda draining sometimes.
So yeah I don’t mind good opponents as individual interactions can be fun and challenging but the overall game is basically the same every time once you hit a certain competitive level.

Man, i'm gonna make a game where a killer chains you to a wall in their basement with no escape and comes down to kill you after 24 real hours so I can watch you enjoy the sheer thematically appropriate thrill.
It'll be the horror sequel to Desert Bus.
I realise it’s in jest but even as a joke it kind of demonstrates that you’ve missed the point.
Hanging on hook isn’t the fun part it’s just part of the game. It’s survival horror not torture porn.
Trying to avoid getting caught is what’s thrilling, the more punishing the threat the more the thrill of avoiding it.
It’s why I miss old moris, mechanically they were problematic because being eliminated in 2 mins wasn’t great but the threat of being eliminated in 2 mins made those games more intense.
You really didn’t want to get caught so you tried really hard not to be. That made the game fun and exciting.
Sometimes you’d fail and it was punishing if you did but, Survival horror is punishing it’s not “try not to be inconvenienced horror”, its try and survive usually against all odds.
DBD is at its best when it emulates that. When it doesn’t it’s often a lacklustre game experience.
“you just like camping” is basically the gag you cooked up here but that’s just idiotic. Nobody likes being camped but it’s the threat of something like camping that motivates you to try and escape, without it the game is a just a mechanically dull points farm.

It all comes down to whats considered a fun match in the mind of each individual player. Like I said earlier, if I get a few good interactions with the killer but end up dying I had fun. Some people wrap all of the fun up in whether or not they escape or get a 4k which is the "win or else" mentality. The general consensus in my experience is that many survivor mains don't like getting camped or tunneled for any reason. It is a PvP game revolved around elimination but when you feel like you had little to no chance at avoiding being eliminated that is when it becomes a problem.
I see where you are coming from.
It could be argued that the threat of elimination is what makes the game exciting.
Imagine what DBD would be like if you just kept respawning and never died, killers just got increasing points based on how many times they killed you.
The gameplay would become very bland, there'd be no reason not to just play bold and fearless all the time. Every game would just be a farming session.
Its that threat of elimination and non participation that drives players to want to escape, to avoid the killer etc. Without it DBD loses something, it would be really mind numbing and fail to capture the visceral nature of survival horror.
I appreciate the fact that you can be taken out in some very nasty ways because that element is integral to the very theme of the game.
People may say its annoying when they get eliminated early or can't participate for the duration but escaping the threat of those things is the core motivation for playing survivor, sometimes that will be hopeless but that's ok its survival horror.
Its a problem when you compare game length to queue times but that's a player population/match making issue not really a gameplay issue.

Does it? Sure.
Someone said something a while back that made me chuckle:
"Tunneling and camping are like eating a puppy. If I'm starving, then pass the ketchup. But if you immediately ask what they have in terms of puppy dishes the second you walk into a restaurant, you need to be sectioned".
Sure, it can make 'tactical sense', in that it's a strategy that requires substantially less effort to execute than counter - it's the DbD equivalent of a 6-pool in Starcraft. But it's still cheesy as hell and unfun.
But okay - let's put tunneling aside.
'As nasty as they can?'. Let's...unpack that one.
So...you really see nothing wrong with facecamping someone out at 5gens or slugging people and bleeding them out with knockout?
What about walling them into the poop room in The Game?
That's pretty nasty.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3000621#Comment_3000621
If someone disagreeing with you on the forums gets you this twitchy, then...yeah, probably.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3000549#Comment_3000549
Sorry, but I'm calling bull on the first. I see plenty of Bubbas. Most of them camp. I also watch a few streamers, and when they play against a Bubba, they immediately expect a camper.
And yes, you did. I quoted you, directly.
And duh, of course I didn't. I swear, there's a name for this fallacy...
But I do play a lot, read the forums a lot and watch quite a few streams. Not quite seeing your point. I'm not telling you how to think, I'm telling you how I think.
So...you really see nothing wrong with facecamping someone out at 5gens or slugging people and bleeding them out with knockout?
Honestly no I don't. Its just gameplay. Thematically appropriate gameplay I might add.
Now I get why other people might say they don't enjoy it because like I said its a pvp game my version of fun may not be someone elses, but I play it for the survival horror experience and when I get that I really enjoy it.

When you hear the words "this game isn't fun anymore" after being camped/tunneled all day and your SWF team just got smaller because of it I think its safe to say these 2 things are happening and they do make people quit this game. We can argue all day as to why these things happen and whether or not it was Ok to do it in any given circumstance, but it'll just be another endless argument. With me playing solo now I just try to make my own fun and hope the next chapter offers something interesting enough to keep playing. I go into every match pretty much expecting to be tunneled at the very least but if I can get a couple head on stuns and maybe a flash bang save before that happens then at least I was able to have a little fun before I was tunneled out.
There is plenty about this game that could be "unfun" though its rather zero sum in its design.
It involves objective denial, via non participation and elimination for survivors.
It involves progression denial for killers.
So you have a setup that requires you to deny your opponents participation/progress to achieve your own objective.
There are lots of games like this and they are often table flippers for people who can't deal with disappointment or go into them with different expectations.
It always strikes me as odd when people want to play an elimination game but get really angry when eliminated, its kinda what you signed up for.

it seems people didnt read my replies XD, i have never said it was toxic or that franklins was bad, it was the build of taking items, why did everyone bring flashlights up? simple they didnt read what i said, i literally said i understand and that her power shouldnt be countered. i also stated that the annoying part is the silent traps on top of it so she can trap the items. it is just annoying to be robbed of my item, i dont run any sweat perks and i rarely run items and only do it when i have a goal in mind, and then the people that cant handle items or flashlights ruin that. like really? lets be real if i can win against 4 toolboxes or 4 medkits im sure everyone else can, if i can never get blinded during save by a clicky squad im pretty sure everyone else can.
franklins to go against items is a baby thing, its for people who arent confident or just dont want to try as hard to win. knowing how survivors are and how i used to be when i started, i understand and sympathize. i really do. i never knew about flashlight saves and didnt understand why i kept dropping someone when i started, but everyone knows how to avoid it and play the game at a higher mmr, so why be lazy and just avoid it? QoL? well i mean understandable but your quality of life will surely go down when you lose out on good perks just because you A. dont wanna handle items or blinds or B you genuinely worry about those game. i am ok with it being a crutch and im ok with people running those perks, doesnt mean i cant be annoyed, me calling them babies isnt to say it as an insult but mainly to point out a lot of the killers who run it are ones who struggle. also i had a medkit i was going for my adept which sadly ive not had luck, because A. camping killers B. hook glitch that killed me in 2 hooks and C. i didnt wanna deal with an annoying hag that ive already experienced before.
so this comes back to my first point... NONE OF YOU READ ANYTHING! i go through all the insulting comments, read all of them and listen to what people say, but yet you guys make assumptions about me based off my post and OTHERS comments. My comments are there too, so why not read those and see the misunderstanding? hell yeah im being immature in game, i can be as much as it sucks for my teammates, who also wont enjoy the game, but when i want to have fun and achieve a goal ill do that, if my teammate does it id be upset but id understand because i cant insult someone for caring about their own fun, when thats what i care about. And before anyone gets upset at me more let me say this... i actually apologize to killers and survivors if they dont have fun or they feel like stuff wasnt fair, even if it was a hard match. if a killer chases me too long and they feel gens are too fast i correct them and even give them tips. im not a total immature jerk, but the fact that people instead insult me and others for our thoughts automatically instead of correcting us or discussing goes to show how people like you are actually the most immature.
so if you wanna say im in the wrong go ahead, but at least read my comments and talk to me like an adult and not a kid please, i dont want a bad time on the forums and to give people the wrong impression about me.
I read the whole thread and this whole comment. Your point gets lost a little in the ramble I'd say.
I never said it was toxic, never even mentioned toxicity.
I read all your comments and you are trying to dress it up as reasonably as you can but frankly it still comes off as "I'm taking my ball and going home" that's how it sounds and you keep trying to justify that, which doesn't really change/fix how it sounds.
Others have already replied to this one pointing out the flaws so I won't bother again, but if its all a misunderstanding then you haven't done a very good job of correcting it. Which has left you open to a dash of mockery.
No one is really making any assumptions about you they are just responding to you calling players who run certain builds jerks and babies while yourself making assumptions about players abilities based on their perk choices.
Yeah you don't need lightborn to avoid flashlights but hell I run it a lot because with it I don't have to bother to avoid flashlights, sometimes you just feel lazy and that's ok.
You keep bringing up builds you don't like and that's fine to not like something but to go around saying people are jerks by running them and you plan to give up when you face them because its not fun for you is just silly. Its the part that says "I'm not having fun so I'm not gonna bother" or "I'm taking my ball and going home"... to tie my point all together.
You post something silly promoting a rather childish attitude toward the game and someone may just call you silly and childish.
If I can make one assumption I think you take this too seriously after all its only a game.

Yes, we're clearly having a different experience. I'd say...maybe a quarter of the killers I face either camp, tunnel or hard slug outside of any tactical need. Almost every Bubba hard camps at 5 gens, for instance.
And yes, you absolutely did.
"Tunneling does NOT exist when 3 gens have been done. when there are 2 gens done the killer needs to get outs.(and 3 gens are often done in the first few mins depending on a few variables".
Nobody until you posted this has ever said this.
Now, very few people would begrudge a killer camping at EOGC to get a kill, or tunneling someone out in a tough game, but that's not at all what I see. People that tunnel are going to tunnel at 5 gens. And that's before we get into the recent obnoxious trend of Knockout 5gen sluggers.
"Now, very few people would begrudge a killer camping at EOGC to get a kill, or tunneling someone out in a tough game, but that's not at all what I see. People that tunnel are going to tunnel at 5 gens"
Even you would have to agree that taking the game from 4v1 down to 3v1 ASAP results in a much more manageable killer experience, it makes sense in a lot of scenarios to take someone out early.
I don't begrudge any killer that tries to do that and does it well because it makes really good tactical sense. Its also well within the game rules to do should one choose.
I'm not a fan of a lot of "obnoxious" play but if there was obnoxious play, or oppressive tactics, I'd rather see it from the killer side as that's thematically appropriate.
Nobody stops to ask Michael Myers if he could politely not murder them so they can have some more screen time in the film.
I realise DBD isn't Halloween but that's what it emulates and I enjoy DBD most when it does emulate a horror film, which means killers being as nasty as they can be while in game.
I can also separate so called "mean" behaviour in a fantasy game world from genuine mean behaviour in the real world, just because a killer camps and tunnels doesn't make them some horrible person out to ruin people's fun because its only a game.
I can lose viciously in game to someone whom played as mean as possible and still be their good friend outside of game precisely because its only a game.

You aren't wrong, but BT and DS are sort of necessary Band-Aids in case you get tunneled or camped. Ditto Unbreakable.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3000428#Comment_3000428
Eh. I'm a killer main, and prenerf moris were silly. Ditto keys.
Yes on Slinger and Spirit...eh. She was a bit much.
From a PVP game perspective being able to mori someone out at game start with just the offering was definitely not great.
From a thematic horror perspective Mori's were great and that's why I miss them.
It was change for the better but something was also lost too.
I'm not against change but it has to be change for the better though and I find a lot of the killer nerfs often don't feel like an improvement from either side of the game.

I would call that getting tunneled.
The OP called what you describe as getting tunneled too. Often helps to read the article not just the headline.
To the OP I don't agree with all of it but mostly you're on target. Especially with how people interpret any kind of play that doesn't somehow favor them as camping and tunneling, its the go to accusation no matter what happens in game.
@StarLost said:
Sigh.
Okay, assuming this isn't just a wall of flame bait.
- I play both sides. I see a lot of killers tunneling and camping.
- I play on NA.
- You can't arbitrarily redefine words to mean something that suits your argument.
- Well, you can. But you look silly.
- There is only one infinite left in the game, and it's a RNG spawn on Swamp.
- Complaining about Us versus Them while doing exactly that is dirty pool.
- Yes, there are things that make killer frustrating too. But the issue about facecamping and tunneling aren't that they are OP, it's that they are extremely unfun to go up against.
Its opinionated but I don't think its flame bait.
Camping and tunneling are often smart plays so yeah you are gonna see a lot of them, again how much you see is going to be based on your own arbitrary definition of these things.
I don't think server matters in any respect so it is an irrelevant point, but then again maybe personal experience differs with player region?
The definition of these things is arbitrary to begin with. I agree with some of the points he brings up about gameplay and being accused of tunneling and camping, I don't consider some of what he's describing as tunneling or camping, which is probably different from your arbitrary definition of them, which again is probably different to his arbitrary definition of them.
His definition of infinite is off which speaks to a lil bit of bias in gameplay so yeah true infinites are largely gone.
I don't see how its an "us vs them" post because it doesn't say all survivors do X, or why do survivors do X, stop doing x you survivors, or killer/survivor OP etc etc. It just targets the complaints about two complained about things that are often just used as go to excuses.
Fun is subjective, some of the most fun games I've had as killer and survivor have involved a lot of camping and tunneling. I've had great games when I've been targeted by the killer and interacted with them all game AKA tunneled, usually you die at the end of that without some help/shielding from your team but it was a rich full game so I had fun.
Yeah you get games that are gen simulator, or hang on hook simulator, or crawl and bleed out simulator its not the most interactive, but part of the DBD mechanics is denial of participation and elimination. Its part of the game you are going to encounter it.
(EDIT: sorry OP to talk about you in 3rd person but its a discussion of the topic and a reply to StarLost's post at the same time).

Hags power is literally hard countered by flashlights. If I'm playing Hag and I see flashlights, it's Franklins or dodge.
Yes but the OP wanted to use their flashlight and didn't get to, which ruined their fun... shame on you.
Its like logging into COD and announcing to everyone that I don't like to get shot so nobody is allowed to shoot at me and if they do I'll quit.
-
DH and COH are often a given, being as strong as they are.
But not every survivor runs the meta. A lot do that's why its meta but not every.
You are right about the killer roster though, I find it interesting that people lament seeing the same killers (typically blight/nurse), they are ones that consistently preform at a level on par with a stacked survivor meta.
I mean we used to see a lot of spirit, slinger and huntress but everyone complained they were OP and they nerfed either their powers or their addons so now we have blight/nurse.
The collective is still screaming for nerfs too while also complaining that they only see blight/nurse.
It's becoming more obvious that people don't want varied games or strong killers they just want to be able to loop the same way every game and have it work equally well against every killer. Antiloop has no counterplay, X is boring, you should play like this at x No. of gens etc etc.
I miss having to guess whether spirit was using her power or not, it was different and threatening and required some observational skills.
I miss having to aggressively dodge/avoid huntress because her hatchets were scary and she could have up to 3, (yeah hit boxes are still borked and you get some weird hits but the solution to that is fix hitboxes not nerf hatchets).
I miss having to wildly spin and juke because slinger could quick scope you out of existence.
I miss having to hide in early game because ebony moris could end you in an instant.
I miss these things, I get why they were changed to some extent but I miss them.
People don't want scary because apparently dying in a horror game, even thematically, is annoying... people want safe and predictable because winning is fun.
-
wow just wow.
Do people read their posts before making them, or do they just come to the forum angry and throw themselves on the floor for a good tantrum.
"I don't like X, which makes everyone who uses X a jerk to me and justifies my rage quitting over X"
I like the way you qualify it with "It may be immature" no it IS immature, really really immature.
"My version of fun trumps all and anytime anything happens in game that I find unfun its a targeted attack on me and I can justifiably quit because how dare you make it unfun for me!".
Sorry man I didn't get the memo about what types of gameplay you find fun or not, I'll look it up in the next issue of 'Entitled DBD Brat magazine' so I can make sure not to do anything you might find unfun in game if we should end up playing together.
Yes its snide, but discussions like this should open up the OP to mockery, because last I checked behaving like they are in a public setting was generally frowned upon.

I mean look. I understand in certain situations why people camp. Hell I do it to and many others. But some people do it to be complete scum bags like that myers above. 2v1 at 5 gens. Still camp
This is kind of the problem, people just make negative assumptions about their opponents because there is a particular gameplay that they themselves don't like. They then go on to abuse other players over it calling them scumbags and worse.
There are plenty of reasons to pass up chasing and defend a hook instead, doesn't matter how many gens are up.
The picture of Myers is a good example, there are no real details about that game beyond that picture and its framed and presented to do one thing, try and paint the killer player in a very negative light.
What you're are saying with this is "Its 3v1 at 5 gens you have to play in a particular way because its what I want you to do",
Lets flip the scenario on its head its one gen left with the killer at 1 hook...
"Survivors to stop doing gens and engage in bad chases so I can get some hooks" Any survivor that doesn't do this for me is a scumbag that doesn't play fair. See its just as silly a mindset to have.
You could take a screen shot of all the survivors at the gate and the killer on 1 hook and then say all these survivors are scumbags who didn't play fair, which is BS.

Nurse is not fine and needs to be deleted. If sfw is deleted the game would die but removing nurse would make the game much more healthy and not every perk would have to be planned around her. Dh can be removed once nurse is gone.
Just keep deleting content till there are only survivors and gens left that should fix everything.
Are people that afraid of variation that they'd actively seek a generic game experience over a varied and interesting one?
-
On a scale of 1-10 how much would you say you are trying to alleviate your anger over the game by crafting an imagined reward from your punishment.
I'd say take a genuine break if you are at that point you should probably just stop for a bit.
-
I always found it interesting that people immediately assume the opponent is upset or tilted.
Tunneling often just makes sense in a lot of scenarios.
Sometimes players over commit to bad chases and miss other opportunities but again that's often just poor decision making or even tunnel vision/target fixation, both of which can happen without being tilted or upset.
If its your defense mechanism to shield your ego then go for it, but you should understand when you are projecting your anger onto others in a effort to make yourself feel better.
If you find yourself frequently typing the line "you're so tilted/angry/upset" to another player post game, take a step back you'll probably find its you whom are angry and projecting that onto someone else.
Really if you want to have fun the first move is to stop making it personal and taking it so seriously. Its usually a recipe for upsetting yourself.
-
No, the ability to play this game with your friends is one of the big draws.
That said the ability to talk and coordinate with your team basically breaks the game in terms of balance.
So its a necessary evil to have the ability to play with your friends understanding that games will be heavily unbalanced as a result.
-
Not with flashlights but get it a lot if I find survivors by hearing their foot steps or breathing.
The moment you hear a survivor and go get them you get the wall hacks accusation a lot.

Ok, please tell me what other killer can ignore solid walls while traveling the map faster than any other killer and yet still somehow being counted as a m1 killer? None? Oh!
You missed the point there didn’t you? Reread it and try again.
Varied killers keep the game interesting. Making nurse chase the same way as other killers basically nullifying everything that makes her varied and interesting is the perfect way to make sure every game of dbd is the same.
Learn to play around the nurse, start with not running around the same rock 6 times that doesn’t work.

Ok, so here you go why Nurse is bs and should be nerfed:
I don't think I need to say anything about that but in case it isnt obvious: Nurse with Haunted Grounds, Undying and Infectous slugging 4 solos at 5 gens left
So one photo of one game where things went badly and the whole world comes crashing down?
I’ve had that scenario on every killer in the roster at some point, should we just nerf em all.
better yet let’s just delete the killer role entirely and rename the game to gens by daylight.
Half the posts in this thread really are as ridiculous as this suggestion.
Basically it’s hard to loop nurse in the same brain dead manner as basic M1 killers and rather than switch it up, folks want killer powers to be the same on all killers so one way of playing works equally well against all of them.
We’ll call it bored by daylight, maybe bland by daylight.

Again its just gameplay. There really is nothing wrong with body blocking while under BT.
I think a lot of the hate it gets stems from two things,
Its a defensive perk designed to help avoid getting tunneled that like a lot of mechanics can be used aggressively to hinder the killer even if they are trying not to tunnel.
When it is used aggressively the best play the killer can make is often to focus on the BT blocker, down and re-hook them, even if this wasn't their initial intent. This leads to survivors sending all kinds of abuse and accusations of tunneling to killers when its the survivor who crafted that scenario themselves.
This is why BT base kit really won't solve/help tunneling and camping as most players will leverage it aggressively leading to scenarios that actually promote tunneling over switching targets as the smarter play.

You can't hide previous VAC bans on your steam profile via privacy settings.
Vindictive players, abusers and creeps can be very determined people making privacy settings a valuable asset to those whom feel they need them.

Profile comments, friend requests and such can all be disabled without making a private profile.

Fair point on stalking or threat. But no one would be dumb enough to cheat while keeping their profiles public for everyone to see their bans on other games for the same reason. Or would they?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2997188#Comment_2997188
Not even VPNs are 100% safe against DDOS, let alone making a private profile. But again, stalking and harassment are fair points.

Epic seems to have their own anti cheat measures, and they seem to work pretty well, at least way better than Anti Easy Cheat. But it's exclusive to their own games. But judging by what kind of players the predatory business model of Epic attracts, I wouldn't be surprised if people would be more willing to cheat via there. I mean, I got a pretty vast collection of games on Epic, some are AAA titles. And I never spent a single unit of currency on that platform. What ever would I have to lose if I were to cheat and get banned there? Even my DbD there was free.
I get where you are coming from and yeah people are probably gonna try their best to avoid reports, bans and sharing info if they are a cheaters.
Just making the point that private profiles aren't indicative of cheating.
Also with steam profiles you can still see vac ban notes they can't be hidden by profile settings. Its usually a pretty good red flag to go off.
-
It only takes a few stalkers and death threats to say hey private profile is the way to go.
Its not indicative of cheating.
The power to choose when and how you interact with joe public is an important power to have.

The perk itself is okay. I mean, I agree it's for sure a 'third health state' as people say, and has the ability to extend a chase by minutes if used at the correct time.
I only think DH is really unfair now because of hit validation. It's so ridiculous that the killer gets the 'hit' and has to sit through the cool-down animation while the survivors get a second chance. It's definitely become a clutch perk.
Yeah Dead hard as designed really isn't that problematic.
The I-frames plus distance may be a bit much when used well but it was attenuated previously by being unreliable at the server level.
Hit validation changed all that. Now you have priority for DH and at pallets so you can basically extend chases on validation alone nearly.
Is it a crutch? no... its just a perk like any other.
Something better than the current hit validation is the balancing fix needed for chases.
-
It really shouldn't.
DS is fine as is.
Play around it in the endgame, slug and wait it out.

Ugh the ole "NOED will stunt your growth as a player" trope.
Every strong perk in this game will stunt your growth as a player with that mentality.
"You'll never learn to properly pressure gens if you are relying on slow down perks"
"You can never improve at looping if you only play killers that have anti loop."
"Learn to escape the killer stop relying on dead hard to carry you"
As a new player I ran NOED a lot, I then got better at chasing and found the game was ending before NOED even proc'd so I eventually stopped running it as much.
I still do run it when I feel like it because its a strong perk, it acts as a lil ace up your sleeve if you want it and there is nothing wrong with that.
Change NOED because its stunting the internal growth of killers by getting kills for them rather than them getting kills themselves, oh please, the melodrama. "Won't somebody please think of the children!" That's how that comes off.
DBD isn't that serious that we have to focus on the internal growth of players so they can be the best they can be. When did this become a seminar in self fulfillment rather than a fun video game.
Is it a North American thing? I've lived here a while now and can say there is a real culture of taking ######### to seriously in the name of constant self improvement.
Sometimes things are just fun and that's enough, we don't need to ruin fun in the name of self improvement. Like everything else in this GAME and it is a meaningless game, I run NOED because its fun and that's enough.

Hook camping even with bubba is no more unhealthy for the game than so called bully squads who load up with stun builds to play obnoxiously.
It’s more zero sum than most playstyles because it’s about objective denial at the expense of your opponent but it’s all just gameplay.
A large portion of DBD gameplay is about objective and participation denial.
What’s really unhealthy for the game is the army of people who think there is only one way to play and that their version of fun should dictate everybody’s version of fun.
-
Yeah it can create endgame scenarios where it’s a lose lose for the killer but the counter play is to slug and wait out the minute.
DS is in a pretty good place right now, it’s payoff is if you can save it to the end game then it can buy you an escape. The killer goal is to be mindful of it and play around it.
I don’t think it needs any further changes. It’s fine as is.
-
Part of horror survival is the unknown.
You’re not meant to know which killer it is that’s part of the fun.
Also your reason for wanting this is so you can just lobby dodge killers you don’t want to face.
A change that basically undermines the horror theme by ruining the surprise of which killer it is and permits endless lobby dodging is a really bad idea.

tippy - I’m not saying it’s not allowed. And i know Behaviour pays no attention to that report. I’m saying the fact is that it’s unsportsmanlike. And they are unsportSmanlike for doing it. A sportsman would be cool about it and farm.
A sportsman wouldn’t go around reporting people for non-violations just because they didn’t get what they wanted.

Just have fun playing the game, what else is there?

Unless you're going against a complete baby Bubba who manages to mess up the most simplest things, you won't "play around the saw." The way Bubba's power works allows him to down anybody who tries to trade hooks and he will completely confirm the kill. Yes, you can just do gens while the Bubba is camping, and while I do get that players who hover around the hooks will probably complain that face camping Bubba is OP since they all end up dying for not just rushing the gens, it still isn't fun for the Survivor on the hook, or even the Survivors in the game.
To me, this whole argument was never about losing or winning. It's the fact that the person on the hook literally can't play the game anymore all because the Bubba's face camping, and there's basically nothing the Survivors can do to get that person off. Also, it isn't fun for anyone else in the game since they have no choice but to hold M1 the entire game and they get absolutely no Killer/Survivor interaction.
There's no way that any competent Bubba will allow a hook trade in most cases. Now sure, there are some cases where the Bubba can slightly mess up and won't be able to rev his chainsaw fast enough to stop the save, but assuming that the hooked Survivor doesn't have DS, the Bubba can just hook the Survivor again since he'll eat through BT, or he'll just have the other Survivor to hook and it restarts all over again.
“The person on hook can’t play”
This is a very common misconception about DBD, loss of license or inability to participate is a core part of survivor gameplay.
It’s one of the threats you face.
You are still playing while hanging in hook. It’s not particularly interactive but it’s still in game.
If you struggle to outplay a camping bubba then play some camping bubba and you’ll see what works and what doesn’t against it.
I’ve never understood people who hate non participation and elimination signing up for a non participation and elimination game.
-
Can't say I ever had an issue with facing him or playing him.
I've played some really interactive games, playing around the hook to get people out of the basement. When a bubba is good at it, it can be hard but a lot of people can't steer him very well and end up clipping something giving you the window you need to get away.

lol. Look, i read a few of the comments and you’re all entitled to your opinion. but for those that disagree just answer the simple question: Is it sportsmanlike to play a 3 v 1? That team of 4 survivors joined the game expecting a somewhat fair game. Some random quits. Now they are stuck in an unfair game through no fault of their own. What’s the sportsmanlike thing to do?
Sure it is why wouldn't it be, just play it out and walk away, if someone wants to farm sure if not then play it out and move on like a good sport.
There are only 2 unsportsman like behaviours here, the player who DC'd and the player that goes around making bogus reports because their opponent doesn't do what he wants them to.
-
How about just don’t leave salty comments. I mean what’s the point.
-
He’s the reason I bought the game in the first place and still my fav killer to play and face.
-
I like doing something other than play gen jockey.

I disagree. The characters of dbd both killer and survivor was created specifically for horror. Ash's characters was created specifically for horror, Michael Myers and laurie strode were made specifically for horror. Rambo's character was made not for horror but for action movies.
Because of the difference in the genra these characters were created I don't think Rambo, an action characters has a place in horror.
And I meant to @Phasmamain for this but just because Rambo have themes of dealing with ptsd and how vets are treated after war that doesn't specifically mean that it's horror. A lot of other movies deals with those simpler themes but we don't classify them as horror do we?
Ultimately I respect your opinion as to why you think Rambo should be in DBD but in my opinion I don't think he fits.
I gotta agree, I don’t think he fits.
The theme of dbd plays into horror movie tropes. That’s basically what it’s influenced by and where it sits genre wise.
This keeps the theme and the feel of the game consistent. Not to say it can’t encompass other ideas after all there is a K-pop killer that has a clean cut American psycho kind of feel to it, I’m not a big fan but it’s still mostly on theme.
Once you have Rambo, then what Bruce Willis from die hard, etc etc…
Crossovers rarely bring out the best in franchises.
While Ash Williams borders on comedy it’s originally horror. Evil Dead is a campy horror flick from the 80’s and definitely is on theme for DBD.
It could be action horror, horror comedy, psychological horror, etc, but the core theme that ties it together is horror.

This is cute and I might roleplay something like that later, today. Oh poor Bubba, he is set up for some pretty disappointing behavior from the kids, is he?
Lol go for it. 👍

Take a long break.
The funny thing about it is you don’t lose what you’ve invested in it by walking away for a while.
It’s not all or nothing, I hit up about 2-3 games a week at most these days.
I'm mostly replaying oblivion for the fun of it lately.
I’ll probably get the DBD bug again as we get closer to Halloween and I start running through the roster of classic horror films in my collection.

I like playing with different killers with different builds. Playing the same killer and same build gets boring.
Here lies the problem, the meta on both sides can be so efficient it renders almost any game variety mute.
I don’t just mean meta perks either but tactics as well. Splitting up on gens vs eliminating a player early via tunnelling.
If they are going to implement mechanics that prevent early player elimination then there needs to be mechanics that prevent survivors from smashing out one gen each at game start. Otherwise the gameplay will stay stagnant.
