A large difference is Survivors cannot take the Killer out of the match to force him/her to do nothing. Killers can always still chase, roam, and injure. Sitting on a hook with a Killer roaming around the corner to put you back up or keep you on there is such a pile of steaming poo of game design. You're playing bench warmer in a video game as basically just a progress bar for everyone else in the match indicating when the Killer has finished and will now move onto the next progress bar... I mean victim.
"A large difference is Survivors cannot take the Killer out of the match to force him/her to do nothing"
You do realize that the primary threats you face as survivor are elimination (death) and non-participation (hooked/slugged). These are the mechanics you are trying to escape from. Without them why are you trying to escape?
There are plenty of PVP games where you endlessly respawn and count up your score at the end, maybe one those are better suited to you if elimination and non-participation seem like such bad mechanics to you.
The very zero sum finite nature of DBD is one of its strongest features that truly emulates the slasher film genre that inspired it. Those films are cruel and zero sum just like DBD and the game shines because of it.

Tunneling and camping are not ideal gameplay so they should have some basekit counters like kindred and ds. Normal gameplay where hou go for hooks should be rewarded basekit grim embrace activating 2 times per trial if you succeed hooking everyone twice before killing. Current corrupt invertion should be basekit as well but the timer could be 30-40s instead. BBQ also should be basekit for killers.
Tunneling and camping like everything else in game are circumstantial, sometimes they make the best play sometimes not.
People want blanket counters to circumstantial playstyles because when they happen they don't like it. Whether its "ideal" playstyle or not is largely irrelevant, because that's entirely subjective.
They are legit play styles and until BHVR says they are against the rules, well... they are part of the game and should be expected.
Now like anything in game if you are struggling when faced with a particular play style you can pick from a selection of perks to help.
The key point is you shouldn't need these perks to counter said play. It is possible to outrun and escape from a killer who targets you aka tunneling and it is possible to save against a camping killer. But there are perks the boost your ability to do this and if you struggle in these scenarios then take the perks till you are better and don't need them anymore.

It was only an event not a permanent change.
bit of fun that’s all.
It was silly and Christmasy but who’s playing a horror game at Christmas really.
Game shines in Halloween and becomes a joke at Christmas.
Most people just laugh it off.

the point of perks is enhancements not to fix core game issues.
And perks can enhance your ability to play around hook defence aka camping, they can enhance your ability to escape from being slugged, they can enhance your ability to evade the killer which directly helps you avoid being tunnelled.
I mean these aren’t game issues they are gameplay people don’t like that they want countered for free.
Use the perks it’s what they are for.
-
To every person complaining about bringing perks to counter game play, what are perks for if not to promote or counter gameplay.
Want to smash out gens bring a gen build, want to dominate chases bring an evasion build, want to avoid being slugged or camped build to avoid it.
Thats the point of perks.
A whole crowd of players so want anti tunnel anti camp anti slug anti chase and Jen jockey all rolled into one for free.
because it’s only fun when I get to do what I want to do, in a game where loss of license and elimination may legitimately cancel that.
These are players who can’t seem to understand what dbd is about and they are very angry about it.

and yes its endgame but he was already doing that before i just didnt get a chance to take a screen and even if its endgame it doesnt make it okay
Why not?
Defending a hook can be a smart play depending how the game is going.
Why is it not ok?
It’s not the most interactive but survivors can still play around the hook, hook trade, complete the objective.
It’s up to your team mates to save you and progress the game and that’s still possible.
So basically it boils down to “I don’t like it waah”.
-
Tomb stone is strong enough as is.
jumping in a locker is typically the one defence you have against the Insta mori and if you are on death hook then your only option is to outrun the killer tombstone or not.
At which point jumping in a locker to avoid the mori is a moot point anyway.
The animation of pulling someone out of a locker and pinning them to the door with your knife a la Halloween 1978 where Micheal sticks ol Bob Sims to the kitchen wall would be really neat.
But it’s not really necessary.
-
Jokes aside, the steam stats only show peak player count. So the fluctuations are prone to spikes and troughs.
average player count correlated with time spent online is a better metric of game health than peak.
So even large swings in either direction say very little about availability of players overall.
People keep reading way to much into it. Basically long term graph says the game ain’t dying anytime soon by the look of it.

It's less the idea of them mocking me and more the fact they insist upon wasting my time. 9 out of 10 survivors insist upon standing at the exit gate, sometimes for the whole 2 minutes, even though I've already conceded and alt tabbed to do something else. They are able to do this because there's zero consequence for this behavior. They are literally preventing me from moving on unless I walk all the way over there and click at them while they continue to bob around like morons, knowing full well they are in control of the pacing of the game and refusing to advance things.
As killer you have the power to change that though.
Go to the gate and chase them out… end of game.
If you don’t exercise your own power to stop it then you’ll wait the full timer every time some obnoxious survivor wants you to. Why do that just to avoid seeing their digital avatar bounce up and down?
If you farm up points by breaking stuff and spamming your power great but if there is no value spending that time why allow yourself to be held hostage in game.
People whom taunt and BM only win if they can make you feel bad or waste your time, so don’t let them.
Why give your time to people whom don’t deserve it? You’ll get to the post game menu check your BP’s click exit and never think of them again while you play the next game.
Bad winners and sore losers go hand in hand and you are forced to participate with a lot of them given the nature of random pvp, so don’t t force yourself to interact for longer than you have to.

Hey enjoy it any way you want. Make up any outcome you want it’s all just a fantasy world and part of the fun.
But use your own imagination because canon and story cohesion aren’t really part of what the intro is trying to do.

This is what I was talking about in another thread. You either play dirty and everyone complains or you play fair and get curb stomped by any survivors with more then a brain cell between them.
It's a no win and forces the killers to play in unfun ways for the survivors.
I enjoy when killers “play dirty” as it were.
Yes it’s pvp but it’s not a completely fair scenario. It’s fleeing from a big scary monster, the nastier and scarier the monster the better.
-
Typically looking for story cohesion in a promo intro where there really is none isn’t a great idea.
-
Good post.
Well written and well responded and rationalised when challenged too.
Maybe a lil bit too much rationale and emotional maturity for this community hehe.
On the very common sore point of fairness. I actually relish the so called “unfair” elements of this game. Especially the ones that fall on the killer side because this game shines when it’s a group of desperate survivors facing off against an overbearing antagonist. Just like the horror films it emulates.
Now I don’t expect others to share that sentiment with me or play in a manner that recreates it, but I really enjoy the game when it happens as both killer and survivor.
The only point I’d probably add is while I agree whole heartedly with point 1 and 2. It’s also important to realise that as a player you aren’t responsible for anyone else’s fun either.
This isn’t a blanket free pass to be an obnoxious jerk in game but dbd is a very confronting theme with some very zero sum mechanics.
At the same time you aren’t responsible for how people feel about these elements. All you can do is play how you want and expect others to do the same.
As someone drawn to the game by an enjoyment of 80’s slasher flicks I can forgive a lot of so called “toxic” killer play simply because it’s thematically appropriate and often makes for a threatening and gritty game experience.
It’s also just a game and because someone plays to win in DBD milking every mechanic they can doesn’t make them some terrible human being out to ruin people’s fun.
A healthy separation of game world from real world is a requirement to put most of what you’ve written into practice.

I'm always about toughening up to deal with BM, but like.
"They aren't making a formal declaration of fisticuffs against my feelings, therefore it can't actually be happening" isn't the exact way I'd go about that.
You don’t need a formal threat of physical or emotional violence to feel intimidated. That’s not what I’m saying.
But drawing an equivalence between BM’ing in a computer game to being berated in the real world is a gross over estimation of its power.
Some losses feel really crappy too, especially when it’s against obnoxious players because we all have a sense of justice and we feel that’s an unjust outcome.
But BM’ing can only upset you if you are already beating yourself up over loss. Take a step back, forgive yourself for not winning even against the most obnoxious opponents and soon you’ll see that BM’ing is the weakest silliest taunt ever thought up in human history.
You’ll be smacking people out the gate and moving on like an emotionally resilient champ in no time, while the BM’ers of the world will still be mashing buttons like fools to no avail.

The counter to hatch is closing the hatch, or intercepting the survivor before they make it to hatch. Being able to bleed out faster takes absolutely nothing away from killers and provides a slugged survivor with agency that they otherwise would not have.
You, as the killer, are not losing any agency. The 2v1 is in complete control of the killer. But yes, popping a gen from 0% to 100% only to still have another gen left is definitely going to allow escape. It seems you missed the part where if there is more than one gen remaining and only 2 survivors, escape is nearly impossible.
You're assuming slugging for the 4k only happens when there is one gen left that's nearly complete. If that were the case, nothing would need to be done about it.
Loss of agency is part of survivor game play. It’s why you have team work. That’s how you counter loss of agency team work.
It’s more than possible to escape in the 2 left at more than 1 gen it requires some good map sense, crafty stealth play and a lot of gen tapping.
It’s hard because it’s a very lopsided scenario at that point but can be just as interesting and fun as a game full of chases.
The only reason it’s a complete loss scenario to you is you’ve already dismissed it as one and given up, making it a waste of your time.
Now that you’ve decided it’s a waste of your time the game should end on your terms, regardless of what anyone else might want from it.
Your solution to this is to punish your opponent by being able to prematurely end the game.
I don’t think there is much of a justification for this.
The only scenario where you could justify a death switch to hasten bleed out is if they are the last survivor alive and slugged. Kinda like the auto death for last hook.

I don't think that's fair at all.
It's like you're playing chess and when your opponent wins, they just berate you and mock you for minutes on end. Maybe it doesn't get to you the first thirty times but after experiencing it enough, it will grate on you.
It’s nothing like that at all.
If you manifest it that way in your head you are going to make yourself upset.
It’s more akin to you lose a game of chess and your opponent sits there bobbing up and down.
You ask the person next to you what it means and they reply, “it means they are mocking your loss”.
To which the reply is “How is his acting like a fool mocking me?”
No one is yelling at you or even disparaging you. They a just mashing a button. Assign all the cultural relevance to it you want but frankly it’s the most powerless thing someone could do to show derision.
I say stop being unfair to yourself by imagining BM’ing is the equivalent of genuine mockery because it really isn’t.
-
guess you couldn’t earn that escape by evading the killer during the endgame?
”All the gens got done that entitles me to a free escape!”
It ain’t over till you walk out the door and anything goes till then.

"Why can't they do the gens" One survivor cannot be expected to complete 2 or more gens in a 2v1 scenario. Even if the slugged survivor gets picked up or picks themselves up with UB, the game devolves into a very pointless cat & mouse until the killer has secured their 4k.
Slugged survivor gets picked up, killer comes back to the location where they were slugged, finds their scratch marks, slugs them again, and resumes their search for the last survivor. An injured survivor is much easier to find than a healthy survivor.
Adrenaline only activates when either all the gens are done or EGC is triggered via the hatch being closed. Unbreakable? Pointless. At best, you buy yourself time to earn some extra points. At worst, the killer finds you and slugs you again.
Being able voluntarily bleed out faster to move on to your next match sooner will discourage slugging for the 4k while taking absolutely nothing away from the killer. If the game has reached the point where only 2 survivors remain and the number of gens is equal to or more than 2, the killer has basically won.
The problem with being slugged for the 4k is that it's up to 4 minutes of doing absolutely nothing. When the game is already lost, the slugged survivor just wants to move on to their next match sooner.
Why is a game of cat and mouse pointless?
Try this next time, pop a gen away from the slugged survivor and then cautiously make you way back to them, then hide near them till the killer goes out on patrol again and one click pick ‘em up due to a near full recovery bar.
Then both stealth out.
Or just give up and whine because that seems way more fun than a pointless game of cat and mouse. Err…
My favourite part of your argument is “being able to auto bleed out will discourage killers from slugging for the 4K while taking nothing away” ah other than the ability to counter that hatch thus costing them the 4K.
The only reason the slugged survivor has to bleed out is because their teammate refuses to try and pick them up.
How about a mechanic where the hiding healthy survivor auto dies in 2 mins if they don’t try and pick up the slugged survivor. That way a lost game is brought to a faster close and you can move on without costing the survivors anything.
wait a minute that sounds just a silly as another suggestion I’ve heard… 🤔

Slugging for the 4k is not equivalent to survivors attempting a 4E. In a 4E attempt, it's extremely risky and likely to result in a trade. Slugging for the 4k has no risks. The survivors can't do the remaining gens at this point, and you're only doing it to prevent the possibility of the remaining survivor getting hatch.
The person on the ground has to bleed out for 4 minutes because it would be stupid for their teammate to pick them back up knowing that they'd just be taking the bait. There's a simple solution, though. Let survivors choose to bleed out faster. But I'm sure if that was an option, killer mains would cry about how it's unfair that survivors have hatch while killers have nothing equivalent.
Why can't they do the gens or the why can't the other survivor pick them up and continue the game? You can even finish a gen and pick them up if its close enough.
Run adrenalin or unbreakable which can save you in a pinch when this happens.
I've done it, seen others do it. Its only a stupid play if not done well, most killers will patrol looking for the last survivor. With a lil patience and common sense it is possible to pick up the other survivor.
If you choose to hide when a killer slugs for the 4k its hardly on the killer.
Its ok to hide in that scenario if you want, but if you do... the slugged survivor bleeding out is just as much on you as the killer.
4 mins isn't a bad timer, its long enough that you aren't likely to bleed out during the game if slugged multiple times, gives plenty of time for you to be picked up. If the timer was shorter I'd slug like a beast as you'd get everyone down and dead quicker than hooking them.
-
I don't get why people are so triggered by someone mashing buttons on their console/keyboard.
I realise people have applied all this arbitrary meaning to it but the reality is its meaningless.
Its kind of like the finger, pick any finger assign an arbitrary meaning to it and then try and make me feel bad by showing it to me. Good luck with that.
Even if you feel bad about having a bad game and a bunch of childish cocky survivors are mashing buttons hard at the exit gate, the only person making you feel bad there is you.
You gotta realise you're gonna eat a loss sometimes and sometimes its a crushing loss, but if that doesn't irk you then neither can a bunch of people trying to make it irk you, especially when all they are doing is giving themselves RSI.

It’s all subjective.

-
30% of "other platform" players are cheating, I like my hyperbole too but lets not exaggerate.
To play devils advocate, I'm not saying people don't cheat, its present on both sides, but..
It doesn't take a huge amount of map knowledge to b-line to known survivor spawn points and get it right.
Crows often make this very obvious, many survivors play pretty bold not realizing how little effort it takes to watch the sky line for all those lil birds taking off and landing.
While sound bugs abound, a good set of headphones will catch survivor breathing and foot steps pretty consistently.
Anyone whom plays a good amount of both sides will likely know a lot of the tricks and will catch you out really unexpectedly sometimes.
There are a few times when I've thought man this survivor just seems faster than expected, or wow they found me pretty easily but always be cautious about immediately jumping on the shenanigans bandwagon.
Because I've been accused of cheating, just because a survivor made themselves very obvious from game start and then was breathing so loud I could have caught them in the dark. It happens a lot.

"Non participation is one of the threats you face as survivor it’s part of the game. The counter to non-participation mechanics is your team mates help you."
This is blatantly false. If you're hooked, you still participate in the game, if you have teammates to pick you up, you are still participating in the game. If you are hooked and a teammate is being chased, you are participating in the game. You can crawl, you can recover, you can suicide. This gives your teammates an increased chance of escape or an increased chance of escaping. If you are slugged and everyone else is dead, you are no longer participating in the game. The final survivor cannot really pick you up, you are simply waiting to bleed out.
In a 2v1 and the killer slugging for the 4k, you are no longer participating. You have no control over your death.
So yeah, the only solution to this is to punish the killer to prevent this.
The bleedout timer isnt a solution, its an outdated mechanic. Otherwise DC'ing is a solution too.
"This is blatantly false. If you're hooked, you still participate in the game," You've misunderstood what I mean from non-participation. (Maybe I'm not very clear but I've had this conversation before so was light on detail this time).
In this event non-participation means inability to progress the survivor objective. I agree with you on every element of you are still in play when hooked, slugged you name it. Because being hooked and slugged is part of the game.
"If you are slugged and everyone else is dead, you are no longer participating in the game." You have a point maybe it should be like final hook auto kill where bleed out timer is halved if you are the last one in game and slugged.
Now here we come to the problem in your reply... you counter your own point. (I'm not sure if you missed it or it was intentional but it doesn't make sense). So here is where it comes apart...
"If you have teammates to pick you up, you are still participating in the game." - True, we've both established this.
"In a 2v1 and the killer slugging for the 4k, you are no longer participating. You have no control over your death." - Ah counter intuitive to your last statement, in a 2v1 you still have a team mate whom can pick you up so you are, by your words, still participating in the game. Which is my point.
"So yeah, the only solution to this is to punish the killer to prevent this." - Well no because as you pointed out its still participation because you can still be picked up by your other team mate, you are still actively in game so what justifies punishing killers here?
The only conceivable reason I can think of is "I don't like being slugged at 2 remaining survivors when killers go for the 4k", well sucks to be you then because its a legit part of the game and its gonna happen sometimes, so expect it.

Not sure where you get that one from there is plenty about the game to enjoy, and plenty outside the game to enjoy.
There is a lot that's cringy though and that tends to make for better train wreck comedy, which makes up a huge part of the DBD forum.

Unfortunately this. And this is why I also stated that alongside nerfing tunneling and camping, they should gave killers more reasons to consider going for other people a viable choice. In the actual state the game is really in a bad spot imo
This game is probably in one of the best spots its been in a while.
True face camping is gone, hatch standoffs are gone, most infinites are gone, busted perks are largely fixed not entirely but largely.
All this talk about incentivising killers not to tunnel/camp. When it’s often survivor play that results in it.
I play a lot of scratched mirror Myers, the number of times I hook someone, hit the stalk button and see 2-3x survivors all right next to the hook. Waiting to dash in for the save.
This scenario typically results in play around the hook, wound everyone and often get the hook person to second stage thanks to bad team decision making and unsafe unhooks.
The majority of times I see tunnelling it’s due to terrible survivor decision making and killers capitalising on bad survivor mistakes.
Lastly it doesn’t matter what you do in game when playing killer because everything these days is camping and tunnelling according to the most vocal opponents to it. It’s a go to excuse for loss in order to devalue your opponent, bandage your ego and cover your own potential mistakes.
So what exactly are we trying to fix?
People say there is an epidemic of camping and tunnelling and yeah it can payoff in general but there is also an epidemic of really stupid survivor play making camping and tunnelling very viable and often the best decision at the time.
The expectation is that killers will ignore these mistakes in the name of fairness. We also need mechanics that force killers to ignore these mistakes so that we can all feel it’s fair.
Suddenly it’s sounding a lot less fair.
-
It’s a homage to the RE series which does that.
Personally I’ve always thought it was a bit much. Kinda cheesy.
But I’ve never been a big RE fan because typically it’s so over the top it’s just schlocky and in no way scary.
Nothing wrong with schlock if that’s what you’re going for but when you schlock while trying to play it straight and serious, like dbd or RE series, it immediately cheapens the experience.
-
It’s just counter play to the hatch spawn.
Once again we have a scenario where it’s to a killer advantage which often means it removes a survivors ability to fully participate.
Non participation is one of the threats you face as survivor it’s part of the game. The counter to non-participation mechanics is your team mates help you.
So you get downed and your team mate refuses to pick you up because it’s risky.
That’s on your team mate, but the solution is always can we punish killers to prevent this happening.
You’re also complaining about a mechanic that already has a solution, there is a bleed out timer.
If it was any shorter then you’d just bleed out quicker during the match and the complaints would be “I keep bleeding out too fast during the game.”
The typical scenario when you hook a third is they suicide on hook straight away to maximise the chance of getting a hatch escape and if they want to do that fine. But another way to avoid that is slug and hunt for the 4th.
-
At the risk of sounding trollish I kinda feel like this thread should have started with something like… “excuse me I’d like to return this sweater”
Let it snowball from there.
-
Time to nerf the new stuff it’s been almost 12 hours.
-
Can I still complain about all the complaining?
man these rules are doing my head in.
”don’t do what Donnie don’t does”
-
I don’t get the sudden push to rework Myers. He’s not as weak as people claim him to be.
about the only tweak he needs is for stalk to slowly accumulate again on maxed out survivors so you’re not forced to prioritise eliminating a specific player to have a power throughout the game.
Otherwise his power is great, it requires timing and skill to use well.
His addons do exactly what addons should do which is either change up his gameplay entirely or apply a new threatening effect.
Lastly his gameplay is thematically appropriate, a slow burn that starts with him creepily staring from the bushes and culminates in a killing spree.
Can he be brutally gen rushed by a coordinated team, well yeah but so can any killer. If done right though you can interrupt that and snowball quickly into a 4K even against highly coordinated teams.
The recent base killer changes helped him a lot and he’s better than people give him credit for.
The key to playing him is 99ing tier 2 and popping tier 3 at the right moment for the down, if done right you can snowball it into 2 or even 3 downs.

I can't say it was a really good chase. I was just holding w. I managed to do it for 2 minutes, but hey, I'm sure you wouldn't mind getting body blocked instead of having a hit tanked for you.
I wouldn't be upset about it because its only a game and you can queue up again.
Also was it really a purposeful sandbag or just a screw up by a rookie player?
People are so quick to judge anything they don't like in this game as some kind of attack on their fun they rarely think clearly about it.
They are also quick to assume the response of others, especially if it helps their point, so I'll say it again I wouldn't really care, it might be a 5 sec aww bummer moment but that would be it.
So hey sorry to disappoint there but I'm one of the people who wouldn't mind. Especially if it came from someone whom appeared to be a relatively inexperienced player.
But by all means feel free to record every perceived slight and report it if that's your schtick, to each their own.

After writing my piece about some more unique survivor abilities I read this one and yeah, I guess you are mostly right about this, I really like this perspective.
And survivor game play is still pretty varied, it all depends on your build. Of course, if all you did ever run was DH, DS, IW, BT (in the old meta) it probably was pretty boring and all samey-samey pretty fast, but if you mix things up with something fun like the Houdini build (Overcome/Quick n quiet/Lucky Break/Inner Healing) or a my favorite Nuisance build (Blast Mine/Head On/Quick n Quiet/Windows of Opportunity) or even an soloQ info build (Bond/Kindred/OpenHanded), then you got some pretty varied playstyles.
If your survivor gameplay gets boring then you are probably not leaving your comfort zone, perk-wise, and should try something off-meta, but fun. There is a reason that the most meta builds are often the most yawn-inducing ones, so be open minded and try something new.
The idea of passive boosts giving survivors a particular edge with particular builds is not bad.
The only downside I could see is you end up with, one particular survivor always gets picked because it has the "best" passive.
Next thing your facing 4x the same survivor every game.
You're right people don't like to go off meta because... meta, while strong, also often means easy to use for desired outcome. There are a few exceptions.

Not talking about a rework, I'm talking visually.
The model is ok just gotta fix his gorilla hands.
It'd be great to get another licenced skin like the old dirty mask from the recent Halloween films, even though they aren't that great.
-
That's because the unique draw to DBD is the killers.
Survivors are about team work, they are just generic skins. Pick your favourite skin and load them out with the build you like. I don't have to play david if I want dead hard, laurie if I want DS etc. One might say the customization of build across characters was great but the flip side is survivors are just skins nothing more.
The idea is survivor game play gets mixed up by responding to varied killer play styles but we all see how that goes, everyone bemoans different designs because they can't be looped the same way as a generic M1 killer.
But then survivor game play is samey and dull. I guess you just can't win eh.
Look at all the nurse complaints and why because she can't be looped in the same braindead manner as trap less trapper can. While there are a lot of gamers whom appreciate mixing up how to respond to varied killer powers, there are a lot whom want the game to be as dull and repetitive as possible.
I'm one of the former I like that looping some killers is really hard, spotting stealth killers should be harder, killers should also have less tells telegraphing their powers so that they are more unpredictable and exciting to face, like old spirit.
Its these elements that make survivor gameplay interesting, the less of them there are the more samey and dull survivor gameplay becomes.
-
So you had a great game with a really good chase and decided to focus on the negative at games end rather than the positives throughout, because some random screwed up.
That's a recipe for ruining your own game time.
-
I don't think he needs a rework.
With the recent update he's better than he was.
Myers is about resource management and timing.
I'd say the most he needs is for survivors who are at max stalk to slowly regain it so he isn't left without a power during a long game. Otherwise he's fine.

I think everybody understand it’s part of the game. It’s just irritating to sit there for 4 minutes. It’s a rant. That’s what forums are for. :)
Yeah and there is nothing wrong with a rant. But you gotta be able to see it’s just a rant.
Don’t dare point out it’s just a rant though the defensiveness and reactiveness can be strong.

If you've read the entire thread, why're you responding „like this“?
It's not like I'm calling slugging unfair or whatever else around that term, so I have no clue as to why're you typing such a long response with stuff that wasn't even mentioned in the first place. It almost feels, as if you were trying to prove your point by a wall of text, which as you probably do know better than me, considering how many responses you've shared on this forum in comparison with me, to make people get distracted or sucked in and confuse them, so their responses would get completely off the mark and miss the topic at hand entirely.
Although the rational gameplay to get the 4k is to slug, I do doubt that people do have a time to do that kind of a thing. Most don't, yet, they keep pursuing such a playstyle.
Anyway, I'll get outta the topic and answer your questions..
No, I can't control what others do and I wouldn't even want to control them. I just expect people to play in the way that they, themselves, do like and expect others to play. I haven't found a single player throughout the years, who'd have actually enjoy getting hardcore tunneled and camped, regardless of the price. If they don't find such gameplays fun, why do they do that? That does make them hypocrites, doesn't it?
Oh, good thing you've mentioned it. I do expect people to play within the rules - That is, without cheating. That's not a too demanding expectation, is it?
I wouldn't say I want, but I'd have prefered and liked if players would've actually played in the way that they do, both, enjoy playing and facing. That, however, seems to be too high expectation and more like a dream, doesn't it?
That depends on the topic; Certain topics could be argued about, but the result or point of view of others wouldn't have changed, regardless. Certain topics do leave no place for furthermore rational arguments to be presented, so I can't provide you with a direct answer, unless you do become more specific and explain the situation in-depth.
Practice, hmm.. I wouldn't call it that way, but I do actively discuss things in life about tons of different stuff from various topics, but I'm not willing to give up and admit of bein' mistaken, unless the other person can provide reasonable arguments or points proving that I'm wrong in the first place. In certain situations, I'm willing to admit bein' mistaken if I manage to realize being mistaken on my own; However, because I do tend to read what I'm responding with and thinking about it before even starting to type and after finishing with it, such situations are very rare to me. In most cases, all I can see are obvious grammar mistakes that I do quickly correct, unless somebody has already provided a response or answer towards my response while reading the words I've wanted to correct the way I've meant to type them in the first place.
As for the last point, it sounds like an implication that you've meant to apply towards me; If that's the case, all I can say that it was rude and completely unnecessary. If not, then I won't provide any answer to it, as I'm not sure of how to respond to that.
You do realise that the topic of this thread is please stop slugging for the 4K.
The rationale for why is “because I don’t don’t find it fun.”
Most of the replies are a mix of I don’t like it either and don’t understand it mixed with assumptions about motivations to why people do it. All of which are portrayed as negative character traits.
The few people who have said hey it’s just gameplay and can make good sense if you want a 4K have had that thrown back at them again solely with the it’s not fun don’t do it as the whole rationale.
My wall of text is broken up into separate paragraphs detailing my point, unlike yours err but I read it anyway.
I’ve been very specific I even posted a set of specific questions which really didn’t get answered, so I’m not sure how much more specific you need me to be?
Why wouldn’t people who slug for the 4K have time to it? The have time to play dbd, it’s part of dbd.
The last implication isn’t aimed at you. The idea is slugging for the 4K is not fun for others so don’t do it.
Well I guess that makes me a selfish gamer because I sometimes like going for the 4K and the best way to do it is often to slug the 3rd and avoid the hatch spawn.
Maybe try some of that thinking about your post that you’re touting before replying to this one. (That is a dig at you but your post does imply you rarely find anything wrong with what you write and that kinda screams ego over thought, tis all in good fun though).
edited: for your and you’re, damn auto correct will make fools of us all.

Because survivors not opening the Exit Gates right-away don't ruin the fun or make the match boring for the other players, that's why. I've thought, that much was obvious the moment I have read this - Are you serious right now?
No, certain responses in this thread aren't biased or aimed to be biased whatsoever. Instead of using the mentality of Us Vs. Them, some users here have actually shared their response from a general point of view. I'm assuming, you haven't even bothered reading the responses, have you?
Threads like those tend to go to circles because people don't want to admit being mistaken or wrong, and that's unreasonable and strange. I'd be willing to argue that admitting a mistake does make you look numerous times better than if you were to pretend and argue that you have made no mistake at all.
It is actually possible to present a response that's not biased and acknowledging the issue at hand, but..Why'd you go through all the details when nobody's paying attention to them, right?
Actually I read the whole thread. It’s all very subjective a very un-objective.
People are welcome to give their opinions but opinion doesn’t equate to rationale fact.
You and quite a few others find slugging for the 4K unfun, your opinion is noted but that’s all it is your personal opinion.
There are gamers that are fine with it and see it as legit counter play to the hatch. Which well it is.
If the goal is to kill all 4 players and you have two left then not allowing a hatch spawn is a smart play. That’s just rational gameplay.
Now you find that unfun and boring ok, well don’t worry there is a 4min timer so you won’t be held hostage for hours and your team mate can pick you up if they choose too, so gameplay can go on.
But no that’s not good enough for some people.
Some people want their opponent to augment playstyle purely so they can avoid what they don’t like about the game. I’m sorry but expecting your opponent to put your fun ahead of theirs is just silly.
If your opponent doesn’t care and doesn’t slug great but if they want the 4K and slug for it that’s fine too, regardless of what your feelings about it are.
This is my completely unbiased take on it because it’s all legit gameplay. I don’t harbour any I’ll will toward my opponent for making smart plays to their advantage, because it’s a pvp game where that should be expected and my opponent is free to do it if they wish.
Do you expect your opponent to never engage in play that you find unfun?
Even if it’s legit play within the confines of the game rules?
Do you want this rigid idea of the game to apply to everyone forcing all to play how you want?
Can you make rational arguments for one play over another ignoring rationale arguments against?
All these things feed player bias and you are guilty of at least two here. Do you practice the idea of being open to admitting you might be in the wrong or just preach it to others?
Yeah I’m a selfish gamer my fun outweighs the fun of random strangers online, but that’s DBD it can be zero sum and I’m ok with that no matter what side I choose to play.

Survivors tend to do that to avoid Blood Warden; There's no other counterplay, AFAIK. Those who do that to avoid EGC are bad players, who do usually pay for their mistakes..
Survivors are automatically sacrificed even if the survivor got hooked for the first time the second the game acknowledges that all other survivors have escaped, got killed, or sacrificed.
If you're getting so bothered by the powered Exit Gate, just don't close the Hatch; Escaping through the Hatch doesn't grant you any MMR, if the Hatch has spawned because you the survivor was the last standing in the trial.
Although you're calling others survivor biased, your response is full of a killer bias, which makes it really ironic and hard to take you seriously.
What's with the Me or us Vs. the others mentality? This is seriously outta place here, it doesn't belong here.
Why is one ok and the other not though.
Both are work arounds to Opponent mechanics making them legit play.
Both of you gave examples of work arounds but because of nothing more than factional tribalism one example is legit and one isn’t.
Slugging for the 4K is just as legit as 99’ing the gates which is just as legit as hiding in the endgame. It’s all just gameplay.
This whole thread is just people cherry picking opponent gameplay they don’t like and then using it as an example of player bias. It’s nuts.
It’s also why threads like this just go in circles because no one has rationale argument to make other than “I don’t like this get rid of it” if someone else doesn’t agree then “you’re just biased!” Is the go to response.
It’s all very entertaining but not very productive.

Apparently custom game bots are coming. You can play to your hearts content and not worry about losing when they come out.
Otherwise… well mmr can be a crap shoot but the game is very playable and winnable.
You just have to get better, watch some vids. Learn some tricks. Remember when you get tilted you make big mistakes it’s possible to beat even players with 1000’s of more hours than you if you keep your head together.
-
Huh yeah I haven’t encountered this yet and I run devour in most of my builds.
Not saying it’s not true but I wasn’t even aware it was a thing.
-
What else are survivors supposed to do in that scenario but hide and avoid the killer.
Its really funny to me you have survivors angry that the killer slugs for a 4K and killers angry that survivors try to hide to avoid death.
Why do any of you play this game at all if the basic idea and mechanics of the game make you so mad.
Hide from the killer and try to escape it’s your role as survivor, hunt for survivors and try to kill them all it’s your role as the killer.
If you’re angry when that happens this might not be the game for you.
“But I only enjoy interactive play i.e. chases.”
Well yes they are fun but they are only one part of the game. Sometimes the game is chase heavy sometimes it’s cat and mouse.

Sometimes nothing. No one has to do it. As a preemptive strike of sorts, that does apply to survivors who escape with 10,000 points and think they've done something special by clicking the flashlight or teabagging.
Uh I’m not sure what you are trying to say here, at no point does this resemble anything relevant to what I said.
So well… yeah I’m with you buddy fight for power! 🤷🏻♀️

Another bad take from you it never ends huh? Slugging removes an intended mechanic the devs put in place to give at least 1 survivor a chance no matter how awful the game went.
Why are killers so hell-bent on avoiding mechanics in the game?
You are welcome to disagree, but slugging for the 4K is hatch counter play. It’s completely legit.
Avoiding mechanics that allow someone to escape is kinda the whole point of playing killer. Do you not understand what the game is?
Notice how everyone gets mad at the killer and not their other team mate for not trying to pick them up?
The onus is always on your opponent to to provide a fun game for you. Guess what your fun doesn’t matter to the opponent and they owe you nothing.
As an adult I can separate a game mechanic from genuine malicious intent, you should try it sometime.
It may help you be a less miserable gamer. Because you seem pretty miserable about a lot of this game and it makes me wonder why you play if you find it so triggering.
-
Me too. I’d turn it off.
Also could you imagine the tantrums, some giant man baby screaming in your ear because they aren’t getting exactly what they want from the game.
MWO has voice comms but that makes sense you are in a sophisticated mech as part of a coordinated lance, but I do individually mute people because it’s still online pvp when means man baby armchair general Jo often makes an appearance and he likes to be heard.
Also the moment players hear a girl it’s like some horny teen date fest, it’s brutal sometimes.
