With a broad enough definition of tunneling and camping you are able to see it everywhere.
-
To DBD well.. Its still a fun game and that's enough.
To the forums well... its like a train wreck, its terrible but you can't look away.
-
Grass helps but its not needed to place good traps.
My primary killers are Trapper and Myers, two supposedly outdated killers whom can't get kills. I don't find this is the case and while some tweaks wouldn't be bad they are pretty solid killers.
-
I think because people have a warped view of BP offerings.
Bringing one doesn't obligate anyone to play a certain way and mostly if you bring one you are just gonna get a top up on what you get anyway. So why alternate your playstyle just because there is a BP offering?
Sure you get bigger bonuses but you passively generate BP's anyway. If you play enough DBD you are gonna get BP's... so now we are just catering to people's impatience over grinding BP's. I'm not a big fan of grinding either but hey that's the nature of online games... to keep you online!
Personally I hate BP offerings because whenever there are special BP offerings, or events, players seem to expect people to farm and/or let them go just because they brought one.
I'm here to play DBD and I'm gonna play it how I want, offerings or not, and there is nothing wrong with that.
-
When people jump in lockers you grab em and drop em. When they get picked up you mori them.
Basically tombstone and infinite tier 3. Stack a bunch of passive slowdown as you won't be getting hooks only downs. Ruin, eruption etc.
Lightborn is your friend you get a lot of stalk from people standing there trying to blind you, wiggle the mouse a bit so it looks like you are trying to avoid being blinded but don't break LOS, I've stalked someone to full capacity doing this while they stood there clicking at me. PWYF helps as you'll be initiating and dropping chase a lot.
Pace out your kills you gotta get full stalk on at least 3 players to get the tombstone/infinite once you have it go to town and slug slug slug till you get the mori.
Lastly Myers addons are fine, it doesn't have to be a requirement to get hooks to mori someone, the requirement here is to build up stalk.
What major game changes have taken place to outdate Myer's addons? None really. Myers' addons do what addons should, which is change up his gameplay entirely. You can build some very different types of Myers and they all play a lil differently from each other, that's what addons should do for every killer and pink and purple addons should be really threatening just like Myers' addons are. It's DBD at its best.
-
Devour Hope.
Sometimes it gets cleansed, sometimes it stays around all game. Making it a real gamble that can pay off big.
There is nothing more satisfying than getting 4x insta down and mori from devour.
Between defending the totem and maximizing the token gain, maintaining adequate distance from the hook while still pressuring the survivors enough to stall the game can be a real challenge and incredibly rewarding when it works.
-
Perhaps but just because you and some others find a particular killer to be poorly designed doesn't mean that anyone who plays them is some kind of toxic jerk out to ruin the fun.
You even phrase the question in a loaded fashion, "how many players don't take her just to be toxic?" as if the whole point of taking her in the first place is to be toxic and playing her for fun is the exception.
You never get a balanced point of view from an unbalanced premise.
I'll say she isn't a great design but that doesn't make the players who do enjoy her, for whatever reason, inherently toxic. Implying it does is a flawed premise from the get go.

Why do we have to know each other's perks at all times? Why does everything have to have an outplay or counter?
Can't we just get hit by Coup De Grace and say "OMG they had that niche perk and they got me!" instead of "Ugh I didn't know he had that perk and my looping is invalid now this is so unfair and unfun!"
I feel like it's just a thought he had at that moment that isn't worth having a discussion about LOL.
Exactly.
Where is the element of surprise. Its not unfair to be caught off guard by your opponent's build. One could make the point that it is the whole point of perks to give you an advantage in certain scenarios and to leverage that advantage where you can.
The surprise element of that is part of the game.
I wonder about how people come up with these ideas really, do they think them through at all?

Its more off an design flaw.
Tunneling isnt that much wanted from the dev's, otherwise they wouldnt give you tools for it.
Its not a skill issue for survivors, since ressources are sparce and they killer is made to win.
So its just bad game design, they tried to fix it with band aids who dont really work.
By that logic you shouldn’t fix gens either because regression exists.
The existence of a counter doesn’t invalidate the play.

The thing is, being nasty or obnoxious doesn’t get a pass just because it’s in a game. It just means the reaction should be commiserate with what it is. Post game trash talk or complaining on a forum is hardly some huge reaction.
Frustration is an emotional response. It usually doesn’t help that particular feeling to be told it matters so little to others that you shouldn’t even express that you’re frustrated.
No one is saying you can't express your frustration but keep it in perspective.
"I don't like this" is different from saying "no one should be able to do this" or "anyone who does this is a bad person ruining my game" Somehow people seem to think these things are the same. They are very different.

My problem is it obscures data. It's hard to determine how effective the killer is performing when you have ppl spamming a speed glitch. How are you suppose to determine how the ACTUAL new mechanics are performing? The survivors facing this just see a train barreling them down. That's likely to make its way to the feedback section on how the killer ends chases too quickly.
But to obscure the data everyone would have to be applying that in a manner that was undifferentiated from people who weren't applying it.
Id the devs are aware of the bugs/exploits and they get used a lot they'll probably be looking to change them.

All this is true, but the problem is that many of the people advocating that people should play the game in whatever way they enjoy are the same people that absolutely lose their minds when the shoe is on the other foot. The amount of hypocrisy in the community on this point is amazing.
And I acknowledge that a player who paid for the game should be able to play in whatever way they choose (within the established rules), but also personally feel like as a community we should have at least a modicum of empathy for other players.
And in reality exercising some discretion in the way you approach others can be very self serving, because it protects the health of the game. If the experience of the casual player, or the new player loading in to a mismatch, etc., etc, is so bad that they quit, that really harms us all. Toxicity propagates, lame playstyles proliferate, and none of this is happening in a vacuum.
I like DBD, I want to live on in a healthy state.
Telling people to not take the game so seriously is whistling in a hurricane. Too many people take the game too seriously, and that isn't going to change. In our increasingly online world, these online interactions are everything to some people. It isn't healthy at all (a LOT of people really need to touch some metaphorical grass), and we shouldn't all be gaming on eggshells, but practicing a little discretion doesn't seem like a huge ask.

While this can be true, if someone plays in a way that they know it will upset others and does it on purpose to "farm the salt" or whatever it will make me question how they are as a person. I think how someone treats strangers when there are no repercussions and they are anonymous is a good indicator as to what type of person they are.
But the concepts of having to apply empathy as if what happens in game actually matters is ridiculous. If you are playing within the confines of the game rules then that's enough. People are free to discuss whether they like those rules or not but trying to add some kind of empathetic grandeur meaning to it is just lot of melodramatic BS.
Yeah and if you feel the need abuse other players over a game, DM people, actually engage in griefing by body blocking people in corners, cheating etc. then you are probably a jackass in real life.
But if you facecamp someone at 5 gens that's just gameplay, not the most interactive but still just gameplay.
Somewhere along the line the elements of real world abuse got confounded with less than popular game mechanics and a bunch of very thin skinned players treat them as if they are the same thing. Then spend their time self-righteously attacking other players over gameplay as if its the equivalent of genuine abuse.
I'm sorry but trying to "empathize" with a maladjusted point of view like that doesn't help the problem... in fact it offers external validation of it and the cycle of toxicity feeds itself. Validation seeking behaviour is rife on the forums because hey this is where the complainers come to seek validation, rarely is it constructive.
This is not to say all complaints are unconstructive whining but there is enough of that that teasing out the genuine comments is a task. When did we cross the threshold of all views have to be considered as valid even those so outlandish as to be considered ridiculous.
If we are going to apply grandeur to it, I think the DBD forums are an interesting small scale mirror for a lot of society these days where people expect validation and empathy for their behaviour no matter how toxic, maladjusted, entitled and narcissistic it may be.

At what point is it not "testing" anymore? I'm seeing YouTube videos of people just DECIMATING teams. I'm pretty just they got their testing out of the way BEFORE they did the intro. The PTB is also meant to test balance. Cheating is only going to give a bad idea on where the character needs changes before it hits live. I would hate for inappropriate nerfs to come down as a result of people abusing an exploit.
Sidenote...
The last video I saw had the guy going "I don't know if this is a glitch or intended..." over and over. Like who are you fooling?
So your issue is with the motivation of the players rather than the mechanic itself.
The PTB tests the latter, that's its purpose.
-
Time and again, "The game is miserable because people aren't playing how I want them to play"
If you can only have fun when everyone in an random online pick up group does exactly what you want them to do with the same mindset as you in an effort to put your needs before their own because that's what you consider good gaming.
Then no amount of game changes and community shifts in attitude will placate you because the problem is interior not exterior.
Take a break, maybe you'll have fun again after walking away for a bit and taking it less seriously.

It really wouldn't require that.
Also, the entity is "a bit" better at it than bishop
That's my point, the entity being the all powerful being in its nightmare realm could probably convince an intelligent creature like the xenomorph to play ball.
Some basic operant conditioning would do it.
You just can't give it an out or an option for an out... like Weyland-Yutani corp did.

I lurked on DBD for a long time, loved the theme but not a big fan of online multiplayer, pulled the trigger in 2017.

Do we really need ppl using it REPEATEDLY though? This bug got reported within hours of the PTB going live.
Well yeah that's what the PTB is for.
This one thing happened once is not an effective enough reason for change during testing.
This repeatable problem is leveraged easily and often, its a bug that needs change.
That's how the PTB works, no sense in calling for the PTB to not be used as intended which is to showcase and test the viability of mechanics.

All creatures have some form of communication shared between each individual species; some also cross-communicate.

…sth like that🤷🏼♀️
It would take an all powerful being to do it.
They have built on the intelligence and response to conditioning of the xenomorph in the lore, it rarely works though.
Karl Bishop Weyland tried, but it didn't turn out so good.

This is exactly how you should play.
To the people here attacking this point of view its a game. Stop taking it so seriously.
Bellow is a prime example of what I mean.

I hope you don’t carry this sentiment in every aspect of your life, this is an extremely selfish viewpoint of the world.
Its possible to be a very mean killer in game and play to be as nasty a character as possible and still be a charitable caring and reasonable person out side of the game.
Just as its possible to be an obnoxious survivor and still be a genuinely nice and un-obnoxious person in real life.
Half the griping on these forums would be rendered mute if players just stepped back and realized this.

I am not egotistical enough to think I speak for everyone.
However, it's completely possible to be able to see different perspectives. I take the game much too seriously, as shown by me trying my hand at competitive DBD. Most people don't do that.
The casual nature of this game, I think, has gone. I also think that's a bad thing in the long run, as DBD isn't truly competitive either. The game has pushed casual players out whilst not appealing to competitive players either.
You're opinionated enough to think that a casual player can't have fun playing this game after a long day of work and that the casual game is dead. More trouble than its worth and its pushing players away.
Well player count is pretty stable looking at the steam charts over the long term. The measurable facts don't fit your opinion. When that happens your opinion has to change to fit the facts because the facts don't care what your opinion is and will remain just so.
So here is a casual player with a group of casual player friends, whom often play after a long hard day of work, telling you otherwise. But your opinion is noted.
-
Yeah just ignore that one trying to reconcile the xeno behaviour with the entity's goal is a tricky one.
Best I can come up with is think of it as cocooning them for embryo implantation by a face hugger rather than sacrificing to the entity.
In fact if the hooks were modified to rather than sac people but cocoon them instead, then the hook stages were you spawn an egg, the egg hatches and grabs you, the young alien bursts from your chest as a death animation it'd be great but that's probably a bit much to ask for.

Still not a good comparing these two.
Or is the killer out if 1 gen is completed?
The thing is, tunneling prevents players from playing the game. That is the thing, why tunneling is so bad in the first place.
A killer can turn the game the whole game. A dead survivor is dead.
Consider this though, its not comparable the way you are using the point either.
Survivor is an elimination game, killer is not.
In an elimination game you will sometimes get eliminated early, its part of the game. You didn't get prevented from playing the game rather you failed to play well enough to be able to continue and were eliminated.
You have all the tools you need to avoid being eliminated early.
The threat of elimination is what makes DBD exciting to play and the day you can just respawn as survivor to stay in game is the day DBD becomes a bland farm fest and nothing more.
You should go into a game of DBD with the mindset that you may get targeted and eliminated early, then do what you can to avoid that... that's DBD, that's what you are signing up for when you hit the queue button and its great because of it.
-
Lets rephrase the question.
Is it fair to limit who the killer can choose to chase?
The chase is the same whether you've been hooked before or not, just the stakes are higher because you are closer to death.
It often makes sense to chase the survivor closest to death.
-
I mean you are hanging on hook anyway why does it matter if a facecamping killer hits m1 or just stares at you?
Think about it what difference does it make in any way?

I didn't say this was about me.
I'm still having an acceptable time on the game, as I play very competitively, but all of my more casually-minded friends have quit.
You didn't provide that as context, all you have here is a complaint about how the game isn't fun and how it has to change in order to be fun again.
Well lots of people still play and find it fun probably more so than than your small collection of friends who've quit.
There is plenty of fun to be had for the casual gamer and if a player is struggling to find it then walking away for a bit, as your group of friends has done, is the probably best idea.
"I don't think the game can be played at an average casual level anymore. I don't think you can really come home from a long day at work and play a couple of games on either role without the game being more trouble than it's worth." You're speaking on the behalf of others, that sounds like a personal view to me. Be honest with yourself if you aren't having fun stop for a while.
I don't think you play competitively, more lilkely you play too seriously, because you often gripe about competitive mechanics and strategies listing them as unfun.
Your complaints are incongruous with your stance on how you play, yet you said you're still having fun because of your competitive mindset err... ask yourself who are you trying to convince the forums or yourself?
-
Lots of people play casually and still have fun, I know I'm one of them and I play with a group of them.
DBD is still fun, I think you need to take a break. Its not as bad as you constantly make it out to be and if you are hating on it so much then maybe its time to step back for a while.
-
Because they don't need to.
Having varied killers with varied powers is a good thing.
Want to get better against nurse, try playing her first.

this community is whiny yes, but how is hit and run not widely considered boring though? Everyone agrees chases are the most fun part right?
i don’t think a single person wants a hit and run meta to exist. Otherwise we‘ll get an even worse 3 gen meta with everyone just healing for half the match (although considering how long COH existed, I’m not surprised people will be okay with that).
i don’t even hate that many killers. There’s only like 5 killers I even partly dislike and spirit is the only killer I think needs to just be eradicated from existence (because why the ######### would they make such an accessibility nightmare).
"i don’t think a single person wants a hit and run meta to exist." I do... so it kills that assumption. Some killers build well for it.
Supposed absolutes also make bad arguments and rationale for game changes.

“Camping is boring”
-Yes it is, it’s dull and uninteractive
“Tunneling is boring”
-Not as bad as camping, at least it’s somewhat interactive, but yes for the most part, it is dull and playing the game on easy mode.
“3 genning is boring”
-This is probably the most widely agreed upon boring play style in the game. It is absolutely brain dead when they choose to hold it from the start of the game.
“Hit and run is boring”
-This is absolutely boring for me, chases are the best part of playing survivor and you never get chased when playing against this.
“Most killer powers are boring”
-I wouldn’t say most but there are definitely a good amount that are super boring to play against (Skull Merchant, Knight, Freddy, Wraith, Clown, etc.)
“Addons are boring”
-There are definitely some that are super unfun to play against. Alc ring, blighted crow, and compound for Blight. MDR and duration from Spirit (although just nerfed), Pigs add ons that put you in deep wound when missing a skill check and pair with huntress lullaby because it’s bugged, and plenty others that are rather annoying to face against. Add ons for the most part are fine but some are ridiculously over-tuned.
You call it fruitless complaining, I call it people wanting to see positive change in a game they enjoy.
Edit: Also noticed you mentioned how something being boring isn’t a reason for change but I’d argue against that. People play games for entertainment and an escape from boredom. If you can make the game more fun for both sides they should make that change.
Its not really an itemized list just that the concept of calling everything boring all the time is counter productive to one's own enjoyment. But you do you.

I hear this a lot. The word "skill" is tossed around a lot in here.
Let's break down the role of a killer.
- Kill survivors
If someone has the word "killer" in their name then you can guess what they're gonna do.
Killer: someone who kills
The role of a killer in DBD: kill survivors
What's so hard to understand about that?
I'm a killer main. And I'm not a nice killer. My job is simple and only has one goal. To kill survivors.
Do we get it now?
@Pluto_1 said:
If someone unhooks you right in front of me then I'll get the free hit and then come after you. Simple.
If every one of you are within 10 meters of me trying to body block then I'll slug you all. I will hook you, but you will be slugged. Simple.
After all, you're supposed to avoid me. Not hang out in front of my face.
You are my fav type of killer to face. One who understands the role.
Make no mistake it is just that too, a role and there is nothing wrong with playing the role.
Be as mean as you can and I'll try my best to flee from it like its a real horror movie.
Anything less only emboldens the weak.
-
Not really simply because the idea of "its boring" doesn't stack up as a reason for change.
"Boring" is about the worst qualifier to justify something changing in game. Why? well its completely subjective and because Wraith mechanically chases, hits and downs survivors like pretty much any other killer has to, then the entire game must be boring for him to be boring while doing it.
Apparently hit and run tactics are boring now too,
So lets re-cap on boring according to the forums in general,
- Camping is boring
- Tunneling is boring
- 3 -gens are boring
- Hit and run is boring
- Most killer powers are boring
- Addons are boring
That covers just about everything gameplay wise, I think its time for all these bored players to find another game. All the fruitless complaining about boredom is getting... well... boring.

I don't know if it's possible but I'd love to see the wall climbing like in the old AvP games. It wouldn't be great outdoors but indoor maps would be amazing.
That's always been my take on bringing Alien into the DBD series.
How can you capture the feel and threat of a xenomorph when it's confined essentially to a flat plane of movement.
I'm interested to see but I'd lower the expectations from being able to run up walls and ceilings a la AvP to something more reasonable and much less xenomorph esq.
If BHVR can pull it off and make the alien more than just a killer skin, then congrats to them but my enthusiasm is reserved at the moment.

An unconfirmed assumption is not confirmed by the addition of something unrelated to unconfirmed assumption, just saying.
With Disney's stock heading south for the winter and production being up ######### creek after a long series of commercial failures, I think we could reasonably expect them to be selling off IP and licenses like they are candy.
I hope BHVR didn't over pay for the license because, as great a license it is to have, basically the mouse needs the money.
It's the great new attraction the Disney stock slide.
-
Nothing wrong with eliminating someone if you have the chance.
The problem isn't "tunneling" its the perception, as has been stated here by a number of posters, that its "un fun"
Being eliminated early is part of your risk as survivor, that risk is essential to the game, its the motivation for avoiding and escaping the killer.
Basically anyone who thinks getting eliminated early is un-fun and problematic doesn't really get DBD.
-
Sometimes it fun to just play it out with the base power.
I play a lot of no addons killer for that reason.
-
As a free kill and move on.
-
Time to break it out again on scratched mirror Myers.
Caught a few people off guard with it before but never felt I got much out of it. With the new buff we'll have to try it again.
-
The big healing meta of the previous few updates really killed hit and run playstyle and a lot of hag is hit and run.
You want to be utilizing traps not chasing, so you tend to spread a lot of damage quickly rather than commit to a down.
With the rebalancing of healing we may see more hag, I got back to her again recently and a lot of teams do seem to struggle against her.
This is just playing base hag too without any trap modifying addons.

That's fair.
My gripe would be if the bot kills didn't count towards dailies or tomes. If they are another survivor for all purposes then I'll happily hunt them down same as any living opponent.

It's the goofiness that gives it a charm I like. This isn;t for everyone, I understand.
But DbD has long since passed its horror phase, and has now become more of a "action thriller" genre, so these stylized portraits just work for me personally in that regard.
Goofy and DBD don't really go together though.
It can only pass the horror stage if they move away from horror and the horror is the drawcard.
Whether people find it scary or not is irrelevant to the theme of the game. Most games aren't scary after a few plays but that doesn't mean they still can't be horror.
The prettier they try to make DBD the less horrible it becomes, but its the horrible that makes the game great.
-
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I gotta disagree on this one.
The current portraits are definitely more static but they have the reserved kind of look almost like mug shots, kinda depressing but that works for DBD. The concept of this game is rather bleak and it fits.
The new artwork while more dynamic is just a bit cheesy. Some are good and characterful but others are really not. i.e...
Deathslinger he looks like a kid firing a gun for the first time with that open mouth grin. Where's the grim countenance that defines his grizzled lawman persona.
Where's the tortured facial expression of the Onryo, the kind of expression that defines what she is... a tortured spirit. She looks like she's posing for an influencer shot, I expect to see her with some kind of beverage in her hand.
They updated the artwork but they lost the character. I agree with the assessment they feel more like fan art than official character portraits.

I can only assume you're trolling at this point, but I'll try again.
The Skull Merchant has drones on the 3 gens in question. Her power tells her there are no survivors in that area at the start. That means she can patrol the rest of the map. This is not indicative of an opportunity to break the 3 gen. She's only patrolling there because she knows survivors aren't trying to break the 3 gen in the first place.
Eternal even did one of the problem gens. It was a 4 gen near main. Then the killer moved to defending the 3 gen when survivors started pushing it.
It doesn't matter at what point in the game you try to break 3 gen if that is the killer's entire strategy. If they try to break the 3 gen early, they spend the exact same amount of time doing it with the loadouts they had. If you have 3 marbles in a box and close the lid, you still have 3 marbles in the box. And no, they couldn't do it with the one Potential Energy because they needed all 4 survivors there to tank hits or keep Overcharge from killing the gens.
I'm not trolling.
I know how skull merchant works I've put forward some genuine suggestions I would try to beat the 3 gen.
I'm not saying doesn't need to be reworked because clearly it does.
People are welcome to apply what I've suggested or not. But I think we can all agree that if you are complaining on the forums them you must have tried every suggestion to beat this strategy.
There are reddit threads about what people are trying and they mirror some of the comments I've made here. People have had some success mainly as SWF because it requires that coordination but its possible.
I realize generally there are two types of people in this world... those that seek solutions to problems and those that just complain without trying anything to change the scenario. I make no assumptions about what category any of the posters may personally fall into but I know which one I fall into, ask yourself which do you fall into?
Half the challenge is beating the seemingly unbeatable. That's what everyone is going to have to do till they patch it out.
Let me tell you anyone who sits down and working within the games rules and mechanics finds a near unbeatable strategy, is welcome to apply that strategy for as long as it works. Kudos to them.

I'm glad we both addressed our wrongs and sorted it out. We only want what is best for the game and that is subjective. You believe there are possibilities to counter the three gen situations currently and I don't. That's fair. We just have to point out weaknesses in each others arguments in order for us to build a stronger point with different perspectives. Sometimes my arguments are flawed and I only acknowledge it when someone brings it up and then I build off of it.
Sometimes I don't understand people's true intent so I summarize what they are trying to say and ask it in the form of a question. It then becomes easier to respectfully argue.
Most strategies people are talking about now just seem too experimental in my eyes, especially for solo queue. I also don't believe the killswitch is too good of an idea.
Ah me too, we're all only human.
Sometimes trading a few unproductive jabs over the relative safety of the anonymity of the internet can be as cathartic as it is incendiary.
In the end its all in good fun.
You're probably right about it being not very successful, that said the folks I play with have had some success just focusing on the 3 gen early after 99'ing other gens as some players have suggested. It still takes too long and you give away a few early hooks, but so far its the quickest we've broken the 3 gen camp.
If you leave those three gens till the very end you have nothing to play with, but if you break it early as a team and then pop your 99's in rather rapid succession you can snowball into some escapes.
You don't lose that much in the way of passive regression on the 99's unless ruin is up, but you gotta focus on spread out gens to make any follow up 3 gen weaker than the first one.
Definitely a stretch for solo queue.

Yeah but the system doesn't know why you DC'd.
5 mins appears to be a better deterrent as what you demonstrate here is the lack of deterrent that a shorter lock out is.
Given the willingness to DC, for whatever reason, based on how short the first lockout timer is.
Feeling that the lockout is too long is kinda the purpose of the lockouts job, to motivate you not to DC.

They just pick you up and repeatedly drop you, the intention seems to be to just make the experience as annoying as possible and hold you in the match as long as they possibly can. Eventually they will probably have to let you bleed out but how long will this take?
It's ridiculous this is allowed to continue
A killer doing that I'd record and report.
In the meantime if I saw the killer doing that to another team mate I'd either get in their face to distract them or I'd jump on a gen and try to fix it while they were distracted.
A killer who does that is eventually gonna end up with you breaking out, the goal then is to jump straight onto the nearest gen. Either force them to kill you or progress the objective to the end.
It'll take way to long but its better than just sitting in game stewing over the outcome.

Okay, I apologize that I used the quote in this particular discussion. Thank you Rizzo for editing it out. I'll stop justifying it. Do you apologize for calling me, and many others on here, moaning victims or is editing out that part enough to forget about it?
Sure lets leave it on amicable terms. I over stepped the mark in my assessment of how people might feel about game outcome and their desire to give feedback. I was speaking flippantly but in reality what I said wasn't nice and I apologise if I offended anyone.
For the record it was not my intent to imply you did that on purpose just that you may not have comprehended the gravity of such a quote being used in this context.
To the topic at hand there have been a few folks throwing around ideas how to counter a 3 gen SM and it has been met with a lot of animosity.
But isn't it the goal of tactical discussion to try and solve a seemingly unsolvable problem. That's at least part of the challenge till something gets reworked to make it less broken.
For the record something about SM does need a rework, games can really drag on and be too hard to break a camping 3 gen build . But like anything that's seemingly broken the challenge is trying to beat it.
I've seen a few reddit threads lately that talk about strategies to break a SM 3 gen, I think the discussion is mostly there given the overreaction the discussion tends to get on the official forums.
They aren't going to killswitch it anytime soon and neither should they. In the meantime its an opportunity to brainstorm how to play around it.

I don't think you fully comprehend the impact teammates have on a single player's record.
One Survivor can only do so much. Because a Survivor is dependent on their teammates to escape, escape rates for any one Survivor is a poor metric of that player's performance.
- Hall of Famer Ted Williams, widely regarded as the greatest hitter to ever live, played with the Red Sox for 19 years and only made 7 post-season appearances
- Hall of Famer and 2-time MVP, with 14 All-Star appearances, Ernie Banks played with the Cubs for 19 years and never made a post-season appearance
- 3-time MVP with 11 All-Star appearances, and projected Hall of Famer, Mike Trout has been with the Angels for 14 years and has made only one post-season appearance
- 1991 - Cal Ripken, Jr. won MVP and the Golden Glove Award. His team, the Orioles, had a losing record of 67-95
- 2003 - Alex Rodriguez won MVP and the Golden Glove Award. His team, the Ranger's, had a losing record of 71-91
There are hundreds, if not thousands, more examples I could provide.
@Uxoxe's data doesn't really say much other than having an abysmal escape rate as Survivor, and a respectable kill rate as Killer, during the games they recorded. There is context missing here, but the eye-raise is definitely warranted.
---
To answer OP, @Jacho last time I documented my games, I had a 35% escape rate (solo queue) and my teammates had a 25% escape rate. A year prior, I had documented myself with a 60% escape rate over the same number of games (20). Someone D/C'd in 40% of my games, which I believe was largely responsible for the considerably worse escape rate.
No I do comprehend it I just don't bang on about it.
I mean survivor is a team game, if you are playing with random strangers then the random variability of skill, motivation to play, game expectations, attitude, are such a source of variance that even the best MMR systems won't be able to fully counter it.
