I undertand that but in my case and my friend, we dont have that so we are on the same point that we begun, we need a voice chat for consoles

Oh yeah, I do agree. Usually communicating in crossplay games is no problem because the game has built-in voice chat, if it was up to me it would just be added as part of the crossplay friends list system.

I'm also surprised no universal app for voice chat that works on as many platforms as possible exists. Discord (or a new one) should get on that, would make things a lot easier if an app like that was available on PC, Playstation, Xbox, Switch and even mobile if possible.

  • You can in theory have PC and console audio streams combined. A console player can connect the screen they play on to their PC (if their screen has a 3.5mm headphone port) via the audio ports on their motherboard. This might require a ground loop isolator to eliminate static however. I'm not sure if such ports are common on TVs to be honest but should work with both TVs and smaller monitors as long as they have the port.

Here's an example of that method, but there's more videos of the same and different methods out there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYfVIM_acAA

Obviously all console players in the party would have to do this if everyone wants to talk on PC Discord.

Pretty sure if someone has an external mixamp (some players with gaming headset for their console might already have one that works for this) they can also do this with that, but I've never done that before.

  • The generator animations sorta blew me away because something as basic as doing a generator got a brand new coat of paint.

Also quite fond of the change from searching a chest to unlocking it. Please make a key add-on that lets you unlock them way faster or instantly that I can put on my green keys 🙃

  • The only person that might possibly be in the wrong is Kate and even that's iffy. No one else did anything that is "not normal gameplay" or anything like that as it's not against the rules to slug, and it's also not against the rules to be selfish. She didn't have to play along, she could've refused to snitch on Zarina if she so desired.

I'm not entirely sure if she'd get in trouble unless she somehow ends up in that exact situation very often or it's confirmable that she's friends with the killer on whatever platform she's playing on, as it's not like she started out trying to screw Zarina over. Personally I never rat on others in situations like that but that might just be me, I just run to the closest gen and start working on it to let the killer know they gotta kill me if they don't want to risk failing to find the other player in time.

  • I can boot it up and consistently have fun so I have no reason to stop playing really.

  • Do what you want honestly, as long as you're not harassing people after the match or breaking rules in some other ways play how you want.

I tend to play pretty "nice" myself because I personally find it more fun to play that way, there's nothing wrong with doing so as long as you don't expect others to follow the same personal rules.

  • Only one I can really think of is that unless I have to (daily/challenges and such) I won't use moris or keys. Because I personally find them pretty dumb. I don't expect other players to do the same, but I personally don't want to use either.

Then again I guess I play pretty "nicely" in general, but that's more because I personally find it more fun that way. So it's far more of a coincidentally "nice" thing I do for myself rather than for others lol.

EDIT: I don't really have any restrictions on what I use other than the mori/keys thing, but for similar reasons there's plenty of addons and perks that are strong that I don't find fun to use. So I don't. While they can be potent I don't really use Adrenaline or NOED as I'd rather have a non-endgame perk for example.

  • All the ways people direct their dislike of game elements onto players using said game elements should really stop. I don't care if it's a "sweaty unfun killer" or "smol pp crutch survivor squad", it's in the game so don't blow up at the players for it. That's just peak scrubbery. If someone can't discuss something they dislike without pointing out how bad anyone using it must be or whatever, they probably shouldn't participate in the discussion in the first place.

Not even sure if it's an unpopular opinion, but from how common this sort of misplaced blame is it sure isn't the common consensus.

  • Break the totem while the killer is busy, so they have to give up on something to even have a chance to stop you. Just like players have always done to break hexes through Thrill Of The Hunt.

Get on the totem right as the killer picks someone up, get on it while they're chasing someone far away... that sorta thing.

  • One thing that works quite often for me is to progress the door until it's like 1% away from getting the first light, wait for the killer to come check and then try to open the gate. It can really make the difference if the gates spawn in places where it's barely possible to actually open one.

If the doors are too close or on the same wall with too few LOS blockers that's just unlucky. The whole EGC system doesn't concern itself with helping one side or another, its purpose is to ensure the game ends by putting a hard cap on match duration. Sometimes you get impossible gates, sometimes you get gates that are a pure 50/50 for the killer.

Also why is ebony Mori like the most common think in high level bloodweb? I swear I have about 30 on one killer.

Because there's less ultra rares than the other item qualities. On something like Huntress any UR node will be an ebony mori 50% of the time because her only ultra rares are iri head and mori. Meanwhile if you look at something like rares (greens) there's a bunch of add-ons and offerings you might get.

Before their recent changes Leatherface and Hillbilly got ebony moris in 100% of ultra rare nodes as they simply didn't have ultra rare add-ons.

  • If you want to use a perk, just use them no matter if they're "meta" or not.

Anyone that can't seperate their dislike of a perk from people using it should just be ignored as they're just scrub crying instead of being remotely constructive. No matter if it's about NOED, DS or anything else that's "controversial" in the game.

Why must you insult Killers who don’t want to play against broken SWF? There was no need for that. Game wasn’t/isn’t designed or balanced around SWF and Killers have a right to not want to face them, especially if they’re not playing one of the top tier characters.

A player is no more entitled to avoid SWF than another player is entitled to avoid killers, perks or maps they dislike though.

  • If anything I'd say it's better they do it on the PTB. No rank or points people will actually keep their investments of they can screw people out of, and the devs are probably paying extra attention to all bug reports and such.

So I'd report the bug in as much detail as you can if I were you.

Personally, I'd just like it if the hatch NEVER spawns/opens if there is a disconnect at any point. Could reduce the DCs by at least half imo.

This only really makes sense for endgame DCs involving SWF, otherwise you're just punishing random players for being matched with some ragequitting clown.

Just try to get rid of the instant hatch opening DCs can lead to, simulate the player going on the hook in some way. There's all the ideas of husks and bots, but even something simple-sounding like teleporting them to a basement hook or just delaying the hatch opening by 15-20 seconds or something would make it more equivalent to the usual hook suicide situation.

  • I tend to recover and then crawl to some remote place where there's no hatch spawns so I don't accidentally show it to the killer. And if the killer loses track of me and the 4th survivor wants to pick me up, it works for that too.

Surprisingly often the killer seems to just walk around in a very small radius around me expecting the 4th survivor to suicide heal me so they can instantly down me again then chase the 4th. If a killer does this instead of actually looking for the 4th and/or the hatch, please just let me bleed out and get the potentially free hatch after they hook me with 1% bleedout bar left.

  • For starters I don't play DBD all the time, and it's one of 3-4 games I play on and off. Nowadays I can't really imagine playing one (1) game all the time, I burn out from just about any game that's not new to me if I do that.

And why do I keep DBD in that rotation of games? It's just fun, I can't really describe it any more than that. I open the game, get in some matches and it's an enjoyable time for me.

Looping means running around an object, in circles. What fun about that?

I find looping fun on both sides as long as it's happening on an interesting tile. And I don't mean weak "you didn't stun the killer? That's a hit!" pallets but ones with LOS blockers and an actual potential for mindgames and outplays. Braindead pallets like the junk pile ones in the middle of Blood Lodge are boring to me as both killer and survivor, but most actual tiles with walls like TLs, jungle gyms and so on are fun to me.

  • Removing it wouldn't do anything anyway. You can force the game to run at reduced graphical fidelity with stuff like Nvidia control panel and the equivalents from other manufacturers, and that's undetectable.

Trying to force standardized graphical settings like that in PC games is usually a very unpopular move as well. It is sort of a new thing to even have to think about as crossplay is a sorta new thing, but at least basic configuration of graphical settings is a very established standard in PC gaming. The only realistic option is to make sure low graphics don't give any truly wacky advantages.

  • I honestly feel just about every game should have something like this nowadays, especially because streamers are as common as they are.

Even if a streamer themselves isn't some massive dickhead that encourages harassment of people they run into, individual viewers might decide to do some vigilante "justice" for example. If instead of some unique name that's easy to find it just said "Meg Thomas 1" or something that wouldn't be possible anymore.

  • I mean there's plenty of scrubs in this game that will call you sweaty for equipping good perks no matter if you play killer or survivor so... to some people, yes?

  • There are perfectly valid concerns like performance differences outside of the control of players, as in actual performance because of the hardware differences between consoles and many PCs.

But I'm actually surprised by how much like... straight up silly console war BS I've seen. People trying to claim this or that platform has worse players than another, that <platform> players are all toxic. I don't get it at all.

  • Honestly Demogorgon. At first I didn't really care too much for them, but after getting more used to using both shred and the portals I enjoy them a whole lot.

  • There are ways to combine audio streams so you can use your Xbox + Discord on PC all with one headset, but it does require some setup. Either external mixamp devices or the use of certain audio ports on the PC's motherboard, I can't quite remember the details.

It's a bit of a hassle but if you're dedicated you should look it up as it is possible.

  • It's a pretty common one along with smacking gens. If they don't get it and you insist, down one of them and carry them to a gen, hit the gen and let them wiggle.

If they still don't get it, it's time to give up 😄

  • Of course any group with someone trashy enough to say stuff like that will probably have other trashy people in it.

Who else would be willing to associate with someone that says stuff like that than another person that thinks there's any time where it's ever the right thing to do?

  • Either add universal voice chat (the "walkie talkie" one you mention, the same as voip apps/party chat) or don't add it at all.

It's already perfectly possible to combine audio streams and use console sound + a VOIP app on PC with one headset if people know how and have the equipment for it, and if the integrated voice chat option isn't "as good" as that people will do so if they can.

  • For sound-altering perks just pretend there's not a % symbol there at all, as they're purely additive. So they're pretty much "sound points" instead.

Iron Will = -100 sound points

    Stridor = +50 sound points

So it totals out at 50, or half volume.

No Mither is an additional -50, so that + iron will perfectly counters Stridor by putting you at 0 sound points. Iron Will + Off The Record overkills it while OTR is active, ending up at -50 "sound points" vs Stridor.

And if you completely overkill it with Iron Will + Off The Record + No Mither that's -250 sound points, or -200 vs Stridor.

So the important part is that you need more than one perk lowering your volume to be quiet vs Stridor. Doesn't matter which 2, as long as they're all level 3.

  • I get bored of either side if I play it for too long without switching.

I also play duo a lot with a friend of mine. Can't exactly play killer with another person like that.

  • Even if they DS and then run in a straight line into the middle of nowhere it'd probably take the killer more time than that to physically catch up to them though. If they make distance and then go to a loop they should last longer.

And to put it that way, it's not uncommon that after a match with no obsession in it I'm left thinking "Okay, I kinda want to run DS now" after what happened in said match 😄

  • It's a modern multiplayer game so it's gonna have something like SWF. This has nothing to do with balance, this is an industry level expectation that no sane developer would try to mess with.

I'm not saying nothing can be done, but if you object to its existence in general I doubt anything that has even a tiny chance of being implemented would be "enough" for you.

  • That's just giving someone hatch, I highly doubt that'd ever be bannable in such a situation.

If Feng showed you where Quentin was hiding, you killed him and then let Feng have hatch that'd be more shady. For both you and Feng, but still don't think anyone would get punished.

If you did that and you were friends on Steam or whatever with Feng, yeah then I wouldn't be surprised if you were punished lol. But that wasn't what happened.

  • @jzinsky said:

Well people are using them now, but unless they're going to use them without a microphone proximity chat will pick it up.

They're your choices, prox chat is always on so use it or unplug the mic

Even if we ignore the invasive nature of forced always-on voice chat, it's easy to circumvent (on PC at least).

Just set different mics as default mic in the OS and the one used for whatever VOIP program, and leave the default one turned off. If someone doesn't have two mics they can use a virtual audio cable for the same purpose.

  • I wouldn't know as I haven't played much on consoles the last few years. I know that depending on privacy settings one can see someone's achievements, wouldn't know about friends lists.

  • The cold hard truth of it is that no matter what the balance is like, it's a perfectly legal part of the game and people are no more entitled to avoid it than a survivor is to avoid a killer they dislike. Is everything perfectly fine and dandy and there should be no changes made? That's not what I'm saying, and I'm not claiming I know any perfect solutions (they don't exist so I'd be lying if I said I did) but the "I don't want to play against them, so I shouldn't have to" stance is quite simply irrelevant.

    @JPLongstreet said:

What is this "checking profiles" I keep seeing? Is that a PC thing? Not sure it is doable on Xbox, especially with private ones...

On Steam you can click on survivor names -> view profile, and assuming they don't have their entire profile or relevant bits (friends list, it's an option) set to private or friends only you can check if they're friends on steam. If other parts are public you can also see their playtime.

  • We already have meta perks and meta killers, we don't need clear meta survivors as well. I mean survivors already have little differences, there's a reason "Blendette" is a term, and some survivors have more quiet breathing or injured noises than others. But it's small enough of a difference to still see good variety in survivors (even though some are more rare than others of course)

Knowing a certain survivor can't have a certain perk has issues as well. No Lauries or Bill's? Tunnel away, there's no DS or UB for example. And no one's getting up on their own unless there's a Cheryl and you have a hex totem.

And same goes for killers if it would apply to them too, there's lots of perk combos that use perks from different killers. PWYF + Nemesis, Enduring + Spirit Fury. And perks that many killers use like Corrupt Intervention, Pop Goes The Weasel. And if you want to harvest BP you better like playing Leatherface or no BBQ & Chili!

  • If I have a daily and I don't have Rancor on the killer in question.

New killer and I want to see the mori for myself.

    .. that's pretty much it 😄

  • No.

People use those perks because they're strong perks, and that's perfectly fine. No need to justify it or "blame" it on other players, if someone wants to use something they should just use it.

  • So what exactly is considered stretched res anyway? Anything that isn't a 16:9 aspect ratio resolution like 1920x1080? Only the ones that are more "square" and less "rectangular" than 16:9 like 4:3 aspect ratio ones? Or only extreme near-or-straight-up 1:1 aspect ratio resolutions like 1080x1080?

  • Personally I can't really think of anything in DBD deserving of the word "abuse" besides knowingly using exploits/bugs where stuff isn't working as intended or even as implemented in the first place. The word is commonly used to shift blame that should be on stuff like map design and perk design onto players instead.

Just look at any of the "if you use X you're bad!" statements and ones similar to it. Pure scrub mentality.

It's not encrypted, that's why you can literally just do a search in a log file with notepad. They've made this stupid easy to do. If the devs didn't want it used it could simply not write the information to the log file, it serves no purpose anyway, except another way to ######### over killers. It's also widely used. Lobby dodging survivors are very common once someone in the SWF doesn't like the killer.

That used to be the case until the midchapter patch, but not anymore. I went and double checked and here's the two most recent lines from my log file, last updated yesterday when I last played DBD.

    en.png

And it does serve a purpose, it can help when reporting bugs, errors and other unintentional behavior as it logs everything that happens in the game. But with encryption it's less open for abuse by random players, while BHVR can obviously just decrypt the log file of someone they requested it from and get actually useful information out of it.

  • I feel it's the same as any game. You ultimately gotta learn/practice on your own, but "studying" information available to you can speed up the learning process.

  • They've said that moris and keys are both being looked at, and I'd be surprised if they're both not getting changed in a way that could be called a nerf.

Besides, if you really don't want to deal with moris you can just force close your game if there's a hidden killer offering. I'd much rather have someone cancel the entire match than run at the killer + suicide on hook or DC once the match has loaded anyway.

  • The only way I could ever see this being implemented pre-game is if it came with something to disincentivize lobby dodging, which I really don't think people would want.

Because as blunt as it is people's ability to actually get to play the game will always overrule balance concerns to a certain extent.

  • Am I the only one used to a very specific definition of "crutch" in gaming, something that helps bad players but actually hinders good players? Lowers skill floor AND lower skill ceiling?

Because by the definition I'm used to none of the perks commonly called crutch perks (on either side) actually fit at all. It's not the bad and inexperienced players that do stuff like 99% their sprint burst, dead hard for distance, ignore healing because of adrenaline and so on. That's the more experienced players that know those things are options in the first place.

The only way I can see it work out in that way is if we go by the "if you were actually good, you wouldn't need <perk>!" line of thinking but that's just "nooo stop using what I dislike" scrub mentality.

  • The only change I can even imagine actually being implemented is one that specializes the perk more towards being an anti-tunneling tool. So harder to "circumvent" by a genuine tunneler (slower or no countdown progression while chased/slugged for example) but with hopefully sensible deactivation conditions. Doing a gen (or other objective like totems, unhooks or a gate), being fully healed, someone else getting hooked - all decent options for such conditions.

And if it's going to be changed I honestly like that sort of idea. I'd argue most people don't object to the mere existence of an anti-tunneling tool.

  • The best us forum posters can do is to simply not respond to threads we feel is bait.

It's sorta hard to do anything about it unless it's blatantly obvious trolling, especially since it's not too uncommon to see people declare posts bait for simply disagreeing with them 🙃

  • Everyone has the option to use it so I wouldn't call it unfair. If it's an advantage every player can choose to use it over graphical quality if they want.

As long as it doesn't have any obvious bugs like being able to see the red stain through walls (I think that was fixed?) it's just how it is with PC gaming. Players can choose between max performance and clarity and higher graphical quality. And I'm sure you could brighten the game up even on max quality with other 100% legal methods, like Nvidia filters and such.

  • That's the Entity's kill, don't mess with it!

  • As survivor I pretty much always run Iron Will and Kindred, the other 2 slots are switched around. Sometimes I swap Kindred for Bond, but I feel very blind with neither.

As killer it depends on the killer of course, but I love Whispers and I also like STBFL on just about any killer where it makes any sense to run it in the first place.

So I don't really have any firmly "set" builds.
