  • Because the Denuvo test is over and people can actually log into the game.

    It ended today, I think.

It did, but that doesn't sadly end problems people are having with their PCs from this poorly thought out test. I feel sad for them, but I'm already playing a different game.

I didn't love this trial either. I felt very cautious going in and figured I would hold back for a few days and see if people were reporting problems before deciding whether to install. And then people were reporting the exact problems I was afraid of, so I took a break for a week before logging back in. I think there's still time to get the rift knocked out, but I don't love the practice of testing it live like this.

I get the argument that, if you're testing whether the software prevents cheating, it's hard to do that otherwise, but IMO there's a preliminary step which is testing whether it destabilizes the game or breaks people's computers or can't get uninstalled properly, etc. I would have rather that had happened on PTB or something. I would also rather not be asked to install the most intrusive possible version of something just to try it out.

But, like I said, for me so far the alternative is just "don't play the game during testing week" and that was okay. But it also would have been nice to get a clearer flag on when testing week was over and it was safe to launch the game again.

Two weeks and going for me, for this little test. However, I agree with you wholeheartedly! This should have never gone live, especially when they also floated out that they did an engine update… because wow, talk about the weirdest time to stress test your game on live servers with an anti-cheat that is now just killing peoples computers.

  • Running this test while in the middle of a Rift and a new paid DLC was a terrible idea.

I seriously want compensation for paying for access to the Rift and then suddenly being denied access, because I refuse to take part in your short-sighted test that could impact my PCs performance.

Either elongate the Rift or finish filling it out for me. I will not cross-play to another platform that is full of cheaters to have access to the game. Especially, when you're running the test only on one platform that isn't even notoriously known for being part of the cheating epidemic.

Next time, think this through more soundly, and have nothing that would impact players paid experiences interrupted before you suddenly decide it will lock them out of playing.

Not a fan of the company as a whole, both the DRM and Anti-cheat. I avoid any game with their product bundled in. I'm hoping bhvr stops this trial after a week as I too want to finish the rift. Today would be 1 week since it started. ☹️

I also avoid anything that uses Denuvo as it's pretty intrusive and heinous on computer hardware. I too hope BHVR figures out what they're actually trying to do other than whatever this is supposed to be. Each update just seems to be loaded with some sort of weird disappointment that seems out of touch with the playerbase, and not in a productive way.

Either way, my forced DbD break is about to be extended. A new update is about to drop for a game I super enjoy playing. So while the devs and corpos continue ignoring the many threads and open tickets asking them what they're doing, I'll be chilling elsewhere. I hope everyone gets back in soon, and BHVR makes this right, because right now it's dead wrong.

Switch to linux. Linux distros use contained environments to run games, so denuvo spyware can know everything they want about my container, but nothing about my pc or me.

I can recommend bazzite as an easy-to-use out of the box distro for gaming, if you don't wanna invest time into setup.

I'm not going to lie, this is actually an amazing comment… potential solution. I do have a secondary PC running Linux for game testing purposes, but I don't use it to game on because it's just not my main PC. However, I'm actually going to give your suggestion a shot because it's really sound! I'll do some research into Bazzite and look at adjusting my Wine/Proton mix.

Please accept my sincere thank you for the tip!

just to clarify, behavior did not cut you off from having access to the game. you can freely access it at any time you want to. You are the one cutting yourself off from the game.

I play on epic and beyond sticky movement keys time to time, i havnt crashed or had any of the issues steam users have reported.

    Okay.

Mind you, I'm not a fan of Denuvo either. I'd much, much rather have server-sided checks. For that matter, I haven't launched the game at all since it went live, but I've not been playing much in the past year or so anyway.

The crashing is more common on Epic, afaik, which wasn't included in the trial. I couldn't say whether they spaghetti'd something that makes Epic users crash. It should be unrelated. But their track record on that front is… well.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either, hence my post. I have launched the game, but only to see if BHVRs "test" is over so I can finish my paid Rift content.

I will admit that I purposefully decided to ignore the Steam vs Epic Cheat Store in this post, because I'm more upset at the negligence by the devs and denied access to paid content. I for one don't want to risk killing my PC to a notoriously bad anti-cheat that many people told them was a bad anti-cheat, but were ignored.

While this post focuses on access, it's hilarious common knowledge that the Epic Cheat Store is where most of the cheaters do come from, but BHVR is intent on never addressing that fact. I'm pretty sure they're scared of that AI-loving anti-Steam guy who owns it.

It's not Anti-Piracy. It's Anti-Cheating. It's rather difficult to test an anti-cheating software internally, 'cause you don't know what hackers know and are capable of.

Well akshually you're right. Sorry, it's edited, just for you :)

That's an internal corporate issue they need to fix. I'm just not putting my PC at risk to do it. However, to everyone who chooses to, thank you for your service?

  • If they want to decrease Elusive, then increase the anti-camp meter and let it fill up faster plus increase its range, especially for the basement.

They don’t need to pay for QC or feedback. There are a ton of veteran players/content creators who would happily do it for free. The problem is that for whatever reason BHVR refuse to listen to them.

I'm sorry you missed the point of the comment. But, you should take this time to inform yourself as to what QC does and why companies SHOULD (and most studios DO) pay for it, it's very normal in the video game industry and again they don't need free labor.

  • Why leave free feeback for a for-profit company? They should be paying for QC and more to do that for them.

Sounds like a better use of your time than wasting it playing this event!

  • It was definitely a failed PR stunt.

i havnt logged in for a while so sorry for late response. dbd is not vac protected. getting banned in dbd on steam only blocks you from playing dbd on steam, it has zero impacts on the rest of steam or online games.

BHVR can literally contact Steam about this issue and there is a team dedicated to helping with those issues, VAC or not. That's however on BHVR, and seeing how they've ignored it this long, it's for a reason.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

Surveys were released about the cheating issue. Let’s see if they do anything with our feedback.

We'll see. I saw they did the suspension on cosmetic loaders, which is whatever. That's just cosmetic hackers, who were not banned, but just warned by being suspended for 24 hours. I think they need to make the issue clearer that any hacks come with actual consequences, they should have been punted for a week, but it is what it is.

Here's to hoping they listen to everyone who keeps experiencing these cheaters! Including us who have to face the plague of AI bots on our serve. How they don't get auto flagged I have no idea.

  • Super buggy and still back online… deep sigh

  • @HexSlugged said:

I play on Epic games so i would rather them not remove crossplay. not everyone who plays on epic is cheating, i think its a bit unfair to isolate people just because they acquired or bough the game on a specific platform if its not for technical reasons.

Unfortunately, it's where a lot of the cheaters come from, since Steam has VAC bans and losing your account permanently as a consequence of cheating, it's a little less on the other side. When it does happen on Steam, its usually a hacked account, which is sad enough on its own.

I imagine if they were forced to do something so extreme, it would not last forever. However, it would give them time to actually address the issue at its core (with Epic) and stop impacting the community in a negative way. It's why I perfer cutting off the money generating source, instead of what they're doing now, just waiting for disgruntled reports. Meanwhile, the monetized channels broadcasting live on Tik Tok and Youtube are still freely cheating through the many free and paid Epic accounts they have collected and promoting it as such.

  • @jayoshi said:

They will do nothing about it. That's the conclusion I have come to.

They need to hardware ban or turn off cross play for Epic Games since that's where they supply the free accounts for people who buy hacks. It's awful and sad that people waste money to cheat

I see the mods have time to remove posts that agree with you, not sure what is up with that, but that's a usual tactic for corporate avoidance.

Not sure why they're unable to face this issue head on, other than thoughts that make me think they want to keep it enabled for other corporate reasons.

Oni's power runs out SO FAST, too fast imo. Also idk if this is for everyone but specifically on Spirit, survivor injury sounds sound WAY closer than they actually are by a lot. I thought a Feng was right next to me and she was like 16 meters away.

Maybe that Feng was another cheater just teleporting away… I guess we'll never know since BHVR has done nothing about that particular blight on the game.

  • @pickle4juice said:

I'm all for survivors, because i usually play as one. But i feel like removing that would kinda take away from the suspense and strategy of "well if i run around the map i leave a trail, but if i walk i'm slower but don't leave a trail" and that's kindawhat keeps games going. without scratch marks, games would probably be slower.

That's like forgetting the tons of aura perks that are already in the game. Walking or not.

  • Audio bug keeps returning, this time on a legion game. I'm PC and this sucks.

Edit: Opening the options did fix it this time.

  • Confirming this issue. I restarted the game and lost audio once again after a handful of matches… maybe 5 or 6. Could not hear trappers traps when I set them off.

Adding: My sound did not come back when I opened options and closed them while in the game.

  • Why, because you say so? Again, all these comments just defend something they can't think outside of, and that's okay. However, you can do many things with code, and making a deficit for heavily perk stacked killers just like there are for survivors, is not hard.

Change of specific things maybe, change of a fundamental mechanic of the game is a entirely different story. I'm not against changes as a whole, but I'm also not advertised to change a complete mechanic that's there basically since the days dbd exists just to fix a problem that's not even connected to that. (Besides the fact it wouldn't even fix your problem really)

Dbd is balanced around having scratchmarks, no matter if you look at perks, maps, addons, killer powers or survivor mechanics like walking and crouching - simply removing them WOULD cause chaos if you think that or not.

Well then you are someone that likes not having scratchmarks I guess, I don't, I imagine many others also don't like that.

    I think that's a pretty narrow view.

usually "humping" is the killers way of tbagging since they cant crouch (unless its ghostface and pig)

And when they're in dog form as Dracula that's not weird or you know a fetish for some creeps.

  • @KatsuhxP said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/457961/remove-scratch-marks-in-the-game

What exactly would change that about your problem? Why would you ask for a complete change of a fundamental of the game instead of solutions for your original problem?

The only thing that would does is generating more chaos because all of the sudden they have to change even more perks and addons. Also I don't know if you ever played killer on events with the random disappearing scratchmarks, but it has a reason this effect is relatively rare. It's just increadible annoying without them.

I know people are adverse to change, but that's usually what happens when something feels broken or has been pushed outside of its original parameters. It's a suggestion, not a threat.

Change doesn't automatically generate chaos, it's like how balance patches exists. When one has the chance to look at the overall framework and state of the game and see what isn't working and try to provide a solution. If a company is going to make something that breaks the original intention of their own product, the people supporting it should and can speak up about that.

Yes, I do play killer! I like old gen 1 killers even, like hag and doctor. I don't find it incredibly annoying, I find it challenging, even against bully loopers and flash squads, but that's the point. I even like the new Myers change.

This is the second time you've brought up "auto aim". What do you mean by it?

Can you give me an example of how Plague, Blight, or Nurse have auto aim?

I checked my post and see that I did not give any examples, because I am being inclusive of all the killers who do use it, does that help you?

  • @Marc_123 said:

    You can´t remove them.

But they are a lot more close together to follow now. Don´t know what they changed but scratch marks have not been this way back then.

You can absolutely remove them, it's just code. And right now the code is stacked towards killers and their auto aim that doesn't suffer from collision obstacle issues and that's not even addressing bad killer ping with hits from the moon <3

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

I agree solo survivor gameplay can be very frustrating when killer players stack every powerful perk on an already powerful killer, but removing scratches isn't the solution.

That will just make strong killers slightly weaker while mid & low tier killers become unplayable.

I think their needs to be a deficit for the perk stack, just like there is for survivors. Like when we use certain perks or items we literally can become visible to the killer or they get notifications where we are. Scratch marks seems simple to remove if using certain perks that stack in such a way.
