When is BHVR going to do something about the cheating AI Tik Tok/YT bots?
I've run into these crappy AI bots 4 times this week alone. Just had a moonwalking Myers that was one shotting everyone show up. It's getting beyond ridiculous that BHVR seems to be doing nothing about it and doesn't even address the community about it??? The live YT channel had over 500+ live viewers last time I checked, that's a lot of people enjoying hackers and potentially buying hacks on a monetized channel… the paper trail is pretty obvious.
At this point I feel they should just kill crossplay to the Epic Game Store, but honestly cheating as a whole needs to be figured out and actually dealt with. And yes, I know when they shut down one account, it comes right back because of the 1000s of free Epic Game Store accounts people use to continually cheat in the game with, but it's beyond out of hand at this point.

They will do nothing about it. That's the conclusion I have come to.
They need to hardware ban or turn off cross play for Epic Games since that's where they supply the free accounts for people who buy hacks. It's awful and sad that people waste money to cheat
I see the mods have time to remove posts that agree with you, not sure what is up with that, but that's a usual tactic for corporate avoidance.
Not sure why they're unable to face this issue head on, other than thoughts that make me think they want to keep it enabled for other corporate reasons.
I play on Epic games so i would rather them not remove crossplay. not everyone who plays on epic is cheating, i think its a bit unfair to isolate people just because they acquired or bough the game on a specific platform if its not for technical reasons.
Unfortunately, it's where a lot of the cheaters come from, since Steam has VAC bans and losing your account permanently as a consequence of cheating, it's a little less on the other side. When it does happen on Steam, its usually a hacked account, which is sad enough on its own.
I imagine if they were forced to do something so extreme, it would not last forever. However, it would give them time to actually address the issue at its core (with Epic) and stop impacting the community in a negative way. It's why I perfer cutting off the money generating source, instead of what they're doing now, just waiting for disgruntled reports. Meanwhile, the monetized channels broadcasting live on Tik Tok and Youtube are still freely cheating through the many free and paid Epic accounts they have collected and promoting it as such.
i havnt logged in for a while so sorry for late response. dbd is not vac protected. getting banned in dbd on steam only blocks you from playing dbd on steam, it has zero impacts on the rest of steam or online games.
I fear the devs see them as marketing for the game more than issue soI dont think they will do something.
Surveys were released about the cheating issue. Let’s see if they do anything with our feedback.
We'll see. I saw they did the suspension on cosmetic loaders, which is whatever. That's just cosmetic hackers, who were not banned, but just warned by being suspended for 24 hours. I think they need to make the issue clearer that any hacks come with actual consequences, they should have been punted for a week, but it is what it is.
Here's to hoping they listen to everyone who keeps experiencing these cheaters! Including us who have to face the plague of AI bots on our serve. How they don't get auto flagged I have no idea.
They're going to delete your post. Every time someone brings this up, they delete it. I don't know their intentions, but it feels like they don't want us to discuss it. It's a major problem.
"We hear your concern and your issue has been under discussion. We can't share anything with you right now, but we're working on addressing it."
also known as "we aint doing anything, not our problem" sadly
BHVR recently put out a ban wave for accounts with purchases from unauthorized sources, then walked back on it to temp bans. Don't really expect anything serious to be done about cheaters when they've already shown they won't commit to permanent bans on accounts that break rules.
of course not, they arent gonna ban someone that gave them money
Right..right…we shall see. Time will tell.
BHVR can literally contact Steam about this issue and there is a team dedicated to helping with those issues, VAC or not. That's however on BHVR, and seeing how they've ignored it this long, it's for a reason.
they can issue a game ban but again other than banning you from playing dbd it has zero impact on playing other games. Steam will not issue out VAC bans for non VAC protected games (valve games) nor will ban you from playing a multiplayer game that isnt the game you got banned in.
You can get banned in dbd on steam and then play every other multiplayer game on steam. there is no bhvr contacting steam that will change that.
Literally what I was just about to post. 😂 "No, we understand your frustration! It's hard to feel like you're not being heard. I just wanted to give you space to vent." We really don't need sensitivity training. We need results.
Okay, so you agree, they don't fix the problem and that doesn't fix the problem… but we still have problems!
Server side validation is never being added, so even the most egregious cheats like teleporting and speedhacking work perfectly in DBD, which doesn't actually happen in other multiplayer games because the server rejects those calls by the client completely as it should.
As for banning accounts, there's still probably a stockpile of many, many thousand free epic games accounts that cheaters use so there's no actual cost to being banned. Not only that, but DBD is on Xbox game pass which there are special promotions and ways to get for extremely cheap, like 1 dollar, and you can family share with other Xbox accounts so even if a shared account gets banned, the main account doesn't, which is another source of basically free DBD accounts.
On top of that, DBD is far too cheap in my opinion. There is literally zero reason why they couldn't just include the first four chapters with the base game and increase the price to 20 dollars or so, never dropping below 10-12 dollars. For actual legitimate players this isn't a problem, since you'll buy a DBD account exactly once in your life. But for cheaters, this would mean every single time they get banned they'd have to spend another 5 dollars or so. Remember that cheating is both a business for the providers, and an expense for the cheaters, so every little bit you do to increase their costs make cheating less appealing or even accessible depending on people's economy.
If this games code is such a mess that you can't even implement extremely basic server side validation for checking if what the players are doing even makes sense or is possible, fine, keep it the way it is as basically an open sandbox that trusts each client completely. Whatever. But could we at the very least try to have some degree of gatekeeping easy access to the game to make it actually cost something for cheaters to get banned? The reason why DBD is one of the most cheated paid multiplayer games is it has extremely weak anti cheat, on top of being very easy to get access to, despite being a paid game.
They can ban all the accounts they want, it doesn't matter if cheaters can get access either for free using stockpiled accounts, or Xbox game shared accounts at zero cost, or get the game extremely cheap using other methods like gray market accounts (which would be more expensive if the game itself got more expensive) anyway.
I have some pretty drastic measures I'd take to at the very least reduce cheating even if improving the actual anticheat or server validation isn't possible, but I'll save it for now.
The thing I find funny is that they where able to go on a ban wave for consmetics duping / "illegal " dlc keys meanwhile game effecting hacks continue to be a scourge.
I versed one that led to YouTube and was just a bot, could see everything even the anti camp meter and how much of a item was used. that stream funnily after checking back on it eventually had the server kick then for being AFK and they got stuck on first screen. (because bot was not programed to click the pop up message I guess)
So game new they where hacking (they where afk even when going into matches) but anti cheat so light nothing happens. this person have months of backlogged streams.
Would like to see hardware bans because from my knowledge that does not happen.
Hardware bans don't help in this day and age, most cheating programs set up a virtual machine with a unique hardware ID that can be spoofed within seconds. The only thing that truly helps against cheaters is to either implement stronger server validation to prevent impossible things like teleporting, speedhacking, bringing infinite perks, etc, and to increase the barrier of entry to gain access to DBD, so it's more expensive for cheaters to get access to the game once they're banned, making the business less lucrative and the cheating "hobby" more expensive, pricing people out of cheating.
My theory is BHVR official stats is similar to twitch views and a good amount are cheaters/bots and a sweeping ban wave would infact decimate the illusion on how many active real players we have. killer normal queue even outside 2v8 can go upwards to 10 minutes yet I rarely if ever have a full computer lobby most are you can tell console players. It's another reason I firmly believe the rumor we're gonna go f2p soon.
Yeah, it’s just going to be the same old non-answer from BHVR we’ve been getting for years. We get told over and over again that it’s being addressed, people are getting banned, etc, but the cheating problem is bad as ever so they are clearly not actually doing anything effective to mitigate the problem. I don’t think it’s ever going to be a priority for them unless players start leaving the game because of cheating. Based on the player count, that is not happening.
