It do be like that though.
I got a few 4ks last night, but most matches were just being gen rushed to hell before I could even cross the map.
-
People say a lot of stuff when they're mad that they lost.
Example: I played against a team that had the entire team using BT & DS--at the end one of them swore I was a tunneler. I'm not sure how I was a tunneler if I had literally no idea that their entire team had DS & BT.
-
I disagree with 4 hits to hurt someone, that would be kind of instant--but I do agree with the speed issue.

For me Trickster honestly.
Why? Because he's the most 'normal'. Just a 'normal' human that loves murder. He's not a monster or some 'super human'. And that scares me more than any monster, creature, or super human could.
Not even the people that love him (his fans) are safe.
^ This is true. Also, on top of that, the power that celebrities hold can be pretty scary.
Personally I'd be super scared of the Hillbilly because even in game I yell like a little baby when he chases me and he completely frays my nerves.
-
Why not just save them & get the points for it? You're losing either way, might as well get points where you can.

Someone told me they were different. Also youre leading away from my main argument. Mmr is going to damage the game.
You're leading yourself away from your argument by not having done any research.

Stop putting words in my mouth. I havent even ever been able to leave yellows because killers always like to chase after me. At least im not running ds unbreakable. You all just die when you see that, dont you. And at least im making it fair for them.
If you've never been able to leave yellows, then you're not a red/purple level player and you don't need to worry about SBM/MMR. Problem solved!

People really really like to put words in my mouth. Jesus christ dude, i said mmr not sbm. Sbm is much better than mmr, but mmr is a huge change for some, and it would make 1. Queue times longer because of skill division, and 2. Mmr may mess up and cause bad games. It is dbd were talking about after all.
I get the feeling that you don't understand that SBM and MMR are kinda interchangeable.

The thing is, i dont care about rank but im gonna be bitten in the ass for it. I know my skill level, which is reds and purples, but i dont want to play against reds because then it really is just the same few expectable things, and it doesnt feel like fun.
"My skill level is reds and purples but I don't want to play at my skill level because playing with my peers isn't fun."
People with your mindset are one of the reasons why SBM is going to exist. Noobstompers hurt the game more than SBM/MMR ever will because it directly impacts player retention rate.

Im talking from my standpoint. Yellow to reds. Ive mever played against reds before. I dont know what the killer will do, what the survivor will do, what they expect from me, etc. Its going to be a very very rough time, at least 15 games.
You're not going to suddenly be thrown in with red ranks if your MMR rating is that of a yellow rank player. That happens right now because ranking is broken.
-
I definitely feel bad for the survivors, that sucks. In the past I used to just let them go, but then it was like... Well, I still want to play?
-
MMR doesn't base your skill rating off of hours, it bases it off of in game performance--like any other game. It looks at your stats and determines where you belong.
& Really? People having to play against players of their own skill rating is a bad thing to you because the matches are harder? Think of how many players that have had their experiences ruined by red ranks that purposely derank to noobstomp and come back to the conversation.
-
Lmao, yeah, I always see the Tricksters knives in my lockers now. A few times it's been hatchets (even though I wasn't playing Huntress), but it's usually knives.
-
For... what? A ten minute match where no one can talk?

Lots of killer mains today.
Jeez, i get the nerf, but gen tapping is stopping REGRESSION( RE,GET IT IN YOUR HEAD, NOT POROGRESSION), not PROGRESSING. Stop repeating the same thing and dont put words in my mouth
Bruh it's the same thing.
Stopping regression is progression for the survivor team.
-
I love it on survivor. It's okay for me on Huntress, especially when people are running through the desert in a straight line & don't know I'm sniping them.

I love everything about him except his current state
He has so much personality and great music but his power is underwhelming. Fun but underwhelming.
I do hope for some buffs as well in the future
His power is so situational. I had someone argue with me today that he's actually a mid-tier killer but I wasn't using his knives enough & I was like, LOL.
-
Lol, yeah I played against a SWF full of rank 1s last night & they lost their mind because I disconnected early. I have a lot of patience, normally, but I was getting tired of running from pallet to pallet.

Just the fact of completing half hooks counter on Trickster to me is like winning the game.
SAME. I was like, hell yeah look at me, I killed someone.
-
This reminds me of like, I played a match earlier and I was playing Trickster--and I AFKed through the first minute because I had to do something IRL. I got everyone to their last hook & they still bragged at the end. Like? I wasn't even there? And I'm playing the weakest killer in the game? How full of yourself do you have to be.
-
??? There's no timeline. They pretty much just do what seems cool.

What is a bait and im new at dbd so how am i supposed to get to use to it and enjoy the game if i am dead immediately? I spent $30 for this game and i dont get a fair chance at playing if im attacked and dead game over so,whats the fun at that??
Try watching some youtube videos about playing survivor. The game has been around for like 5 years, you have some catching up to do.

Takes about 20 flashes a second for most people with photo-sensitivity epilepsy to get a response based on my own quick research on the issue. Although personally, just give it a half second cool-down between the on and off's just based on my own layman's research on it.
I think our best path forward is just asking BE to look into it as a possible concern we have and they can consult with the medical professionals on it. And we can reduce another annoyance at the same time.
This^, I opened a support ticket with them to highlight the issue and to direct them toward this thread, since it's on their own forums. But other people reaching out might be a good idea as well. I'm assuming that they just didn't know it was a potential issue, since it's easy to not know about if you personally don't have any experience with epilepsy.
-
Killers aren't required to give you a chance to play, just like survivors aren't required to give killers free hits. You're still a new player though, so you'll eventually adapt. The game has a high learning curve.

That was my intent - I will admit I probably should of worded that differently. I apologize.
Ah! Sorry to jump to being so harsh then, I just work IRL in an environment where we have to be really mindful of accessibility standards, so I take this kind of thing really seriously and got a bit agitated by a lot of the responses ignoring how serious of an issue this really is.
-
What a bait thread.

Niether do most of us to be honest. Given the flashlight's limited battery and the fact it annoys so many people (and it's a good way to attract attention), the behavior seems to be encouraged by both the game's design and human nature.
Frankly, I would be opposed to a 1 second cool down between clicks myself.
Whether or not you'd be opposed to it doesn't matter. What matters is that it literally can affect the health of some players. That far, far, outweighs the 'strategy' of flashlight clicking & there needs to be a way to bring this problem to the devs so that they can figure out a way to implement a fix to this strobe effect.
-
No.
Why do you have two threads about this?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2071138
-
This is actually a really serious accessibility issue that the devs need to address.
-
You're eventually going to run out of lower skill players & if you 4k enough, you're going to move up and have to find a new killer to play. Not to mention that matchmaking is bad and completely blows everything you're saying up. Example: I'm rank 12 right now & I played against a 3 stack of rank 1 players last night.
Edit to add: & if you just want to be a noob stomper, why wouldn't you just play Huntress instead?
-
I don't really see a point in it. The bloody clothes aren't that cool.
-
Delete it. Why even have it? It doesn't provide anything worthwhile for the game.

Haste effects do stack. Though there aren’t many haste options for killer. Really the only reliable one is play with your food but again it’s difficult to maintain and inconsistent. Any other one is similar but just additionally extremely situational as well.
Yeah, I was wondering. I don't have PWYF yet, but I have NOED and Devour Hope, so I was hoping that if I combined them together that I might have a fighting chance for at least a small portion of the match. I did manage to get them both proc in my last match, but I wasn't sure if they were stacking.
-
I have some of his outfits as well, I bought them with gold things I had saved up from when I used to play the game a lot like 5 months ago. I don't regret them, I want to like the character. It just really badly needs a buff & I'm hoping he'll get one.
-
The red glyphs thing was kind of weird, but whatever. Also this rift doesn't have very good things in it? I bought it out of habit, but I'm not very impressed.

People appear to still be misunderstanding what I’m asking for. I am not saying you should keep DS during interactions and lose it when a skill check appears - I am saying Decisive Strike should be usable twice, once for every time the Survivor with the perk gets unhooked, and nothing more than that. I have edited my post to add a list at the bottom and a TL;DR at the top.
No... it definitely shouldn't.

It would be fine if they worked properly at least. Getting blinded from side of your head when you don't even see who's blinding you is stupid and annoying.
WORD. That does drive me nuts. That & getting stunned while in animation like when breaking pallets and etc. It just gives me a headache & accomplishes nothing, though it isn't as bad as it used to be. I remember when it was just a white screen.
-
I've been playing almost only Trickster since he came out. It's a struggle even at yellow ranks, which I'm currently circling around in, because I've been playing only Trickster since I came back from my hiatus.
It's so hard and bad, but at least I look stylish as hell while losing.
-
I've always found Legion and Huntress to be the most fun for me. Legion because Legion is just fun to play, and Huntress for trick shots.
-
The only thing I hate from survivors is flashlights. I hate flashlights as a survivor because it means my team isn't doing gens and is trying to run around for an easily avoidable flashlight save, and I hate flashlights as a killer because it's a pain in the ass.

I mean it all seemed pretty legit he set it up really well just like an actual farmer would do. Something you have to remember though is rank does mean something otherwise how did they actually get to that rank? He wasn't that good cause at the start of the game when he was tryna tell us to farm I saw him getting looped around the killer shack. Like I said this games matchmaking is broken and I stand by that, if he uses that tactic to beat sweatier players that he shouldn't be matched against I fully support him as long as it's not classed as cheating. If DBD doesn't want us to use tactics like that they should ban camping, tunnelling and slugging because they provide just as much advantage as long as you don't know how to counter it. It's not like you can't counter what the killer did we were just stupid and fell for it. Only thing we need now is a new name for this tactic any ideas??
No. Rank means literally means nothing. You keep acting like it means something. Like... I'm a rank 14 killer right now. Does that mean that I'm new to the game? No. I was a red rank killer and I took a 4 month hiatus & I've been playing Trickster instead of playing seriously. I'm a rank 12 survivor right now, does that mean that I'm new to survivor? No. It takes me about 2 - 3 days of playing casually to end up in red ranks.
I'm not a good player, and yet it takes me almost no time to end up in red ranks on both killer/survivor. It's not a matter of skill, it's a matter of grinding.

Yeah that's kinda what I though I don't really care to much about it I just wondered. Honestly I think it's a good strategy considering he was a Rank 12 going against Rank 2, 4, 12 and 11s. I guess if the game won't put you in fair lobbies you just don't play fair yourself. And like I said he didn't really farm if he killed everyone.
Eh, rank is meaningless. As is evidenced by a rank 2 falling for a fake farming trap.
-
No, you can't get banned for 'tricking survivors.' It's silly to think it would be, because I'm pretty sure that farming is actually more bannable since it's not playing the game as intended.

Again, if I have to be on totem duty every match because I am to assume every killer has noed then I'm not going to play the game anymore. Its just not fun at that point.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If it's any consolation, once you get out of yellow/green ranks, most killers don't use NOED. As a red rank survivor, I almost never see it.
-
NOED sucks, but every trickster you've gone against has it because he's a very weak killer. They need the speed boost & the extra help to secure literally any downs. So, while there's plenty of instances to be salty about NOED, I'd say your example is literally the only example in the game that you can't be salty about. Personally, I still don't use it, but I can 100% see why people do.
Anyway, you should definitely try using detective's hunch if you're struggling to find all the totems to deactivate NOED.
-
@sleepywynd said:
Now obviously he needs a few things, notably being:
A 5% speed boost to his base speed
Knives bouncing off walls base kit
No recoil (or at least VERY little) as recoil on a knife-throwing character is absolutely senseless... they're knives... not a gun. Guns have kickback, knives do not. Nothing has recoil in real life unless it uses explosives (in one way or another and no, a bouncy castle does not 'recoil').
However, people (from my experience) are playing him completely wrong. I watch as game after game, he just pulls out his knives at the start of a chase and hopes he's gonna hit 16 of them on you before you lose him or loop forever (spoiler, throwing like a fool won't work). He. Is. Not. Huntress.
Throwing knives aimlessly in a chase (even if you eventually m1) loses value as the common melee that you could've hit (probably sooner) allows for your knife pressure to increase substantially. The survivor vaults while injured? 3-4 hits, they pallet camp? 2-4 hits. Easy down. The point being, knives shouldn't be used at the start of a chase (usually). They need to be used selectively to pressure survivors into mistakes and/or out of loops and pallets (unless you're on midwich, in which case, go off with those bouncing blades).
While far from perfect, there is something to be desired in his unique control over loops and enclosed rooms/areas. People slip up when m1ed and on 6 knife hits as they're only trying to get away.
Sidenote, David King could totally brawl the guy.
Your last note is wrong--open fields are where he's most useful. The easiest time to get someone with knives is when they're running from one loop to another.
I've been playing only Trickster for three days, and here's what I found:
Most building loops are infinites against him, if someone runs to a building then just leave and find someone that isn't in a safe spot.
Don't respect the pallet and force it down even if you have to eat it, then break pallets at short loops and force the survivor to the next loop, when they're running in between loops you can usually get 1 health state down by holding down the button & flinging knives into their backs. Zig-zagging doesn't really help them because the knife aim is RNG.

Please link me the video where you beat red rank survivors as him. Hell, even purples. Then I'll believe it
I've beaten a red rank survivor on a team of purples and that was because they made so many mistakes that it was unreal.
Trickster is a bad killer, Behavior plz buff ASAP. I would love to spend more money on cosmetics for him but he's just impossible to play.

I've been playing a lot of Trickster as well--I came back to the game after a 4 month break from it to try him out. He's not good, but he is fun to look at, so I've just kind of accepted that I'm back in yellow ranks again. Yellow ranks are where the fun is, anyway.
