Because he was fun, unique, and very easy to fix.
Give him the Incapacitated status effect during the Dream Transition and thats it, his biggest problem is gone. The 2019 has always been unnecessary.
..how would that fix him in the slightest?
-
My God why do people want OG Freddy back? He was awful. His play rate would absolutely plummet even more than it already has. The only explanation you need is "entity shenanigans"
There, boom. All lore related issues are immediately solved. Freddy can do what he does in game because the entity said so

Yeah, Freddy was ranked #3 for killrate with Pinhead. #1 was Skull Merchant and #2 was Onryo. This was in the 'Deadliest Killer (All MMR stats they released a while ago).
Obviously the stats might have changed over time, but Freddy is by far not the worst killer. I actually didn’t find Freddy that bad when I played as him and got his adept (got it the second try). He has good mobility with the teleporting and the dream snares are far superior to dream pallets.
I like that Freddy is getting more changes to survivors needing to constantly stay awake or they will be punished. It gives him something new to his kit and makes the interactions with him a lot better, but Freddy was never the worst killer, lol.
You know that this wasn't OG Freddy, right? The person who said Freddy used to be the worst killer in the game is talking OG Freddy. What you're talking about about is after Freddy's first rework where forever Freddy was meta. He was reworked before pinhead was released so there's no way that he was up there with pinhead before the rework. He was absolutely horrible before his first rework, not being able to attack survivors until they were in the dream world was not good at all

Oh boy, another "this game is dying" post! I bet you haven't even looked at steam player numbers either. It's still averaging 30k-32k players on steam alone. It's probably safe to say that both Xbox and PlayStation have similar player counts, so that's about 120k average players playing at one time.
The games not dead, and I really don't see how an "operation health" chapter would work. Other games have tried it and most of them failed with a bunch of unnecessary "fixes" and tweaks nobody wanted. BHVR already does these mini health chapters at the halfway point between every chapter. These ARE our health chapters. While they don't fix every bug they keep the enjoyable enough with very few actual gameplay breaking bugs. An actual full health chapter like so many people are asking for is a massive risk that just isn't worth it
-
No, it's not falling off lmao. These posts have been creeping up ever since it launched but it's still the #1 asymm horror game. Everything you mentioned is legitimately a skill issue
"such as, if you look backwards on a controller you have to swivel your right joystick 180 whilst keeping your left in the exact same position"
Lmao what even is this complaint? You mean what console players have been doing for 20+ years with absolutely no issue? Nothing you say has any legitimacy after an abomination of a "point" like this
Edit - player numbers decreasing on steam? Not in the slightest lol. A majority of players are console players as well. So if steam averages 30k players most days, consoles hold similar, if not more players. So at any given day dbd has an average of about 100k players. Id say it's doing just fine.
And just for some actual stats instead of my estimates (which after checking were pretty dead on) the game currently has 37k players on steam, with a 24 hour peak of 52k. That's 52k players in game at the same time, on steam alone. So adding epic games, windows game store, Xbox, PlayStation and switch that number is easily well over 100k players

Buckle up + ftp
That combo can rot in hell
-
Get your killer MMR up, have fun
-
He's fantastic on indoor maps. Big, open spaces are a nightmare for him so tight hallways are like a wet dream. gives you very little room to be able to dodge
-
Always good to remind myself why I don't use the forums. This post did it so thanks
-
I guess everyone already forgot Made For This, and how long it was an issue
-
So a killer with no power? Might as well do the same thing to huntress, deathslinger and trickster then!
After people started learning that turrets actually DO something and started placing them in more strategic spots (not directly in front of the tunnel/right by the gen. Don't do that) then xenos can consistently get knocked out of her power relatively easily making her a basic M1 killer
-
Lmao over dramatic much?
-
This annoys the hell outta me when I play survivor, so when I play killer I be sure to slug that survivor the whole game until they bleed out. ######### over your team you deserve some kind of punishment
-
Not many people have cross play turned off. There's no fix other than turning it back on
-
I like this idea. With some tweaking it could be really fun

While I seriously doubt it will even come close to killing DbD, I do plan to be in Home Sweet Home: Survival when it goes public live and give it a whirl.
But I'm also a player that enjoyed Friday: The 13th and am neither married to, nor in love with, DbD in the first place.
I'm the same way. Depending on how much it costs I may play it, but I'll more than likely come back to dbd after a few weeks/months

What is Home Sweet Home? All I see is an old 2017 game.
The whole name of the game is "Home Sweet Home:Survive", I believe it's a sequel of the game from 2017 you found

Why tf would they think rese7 would kill dbd? You mean Resistance, right?
Yeah probably meant resistance, but who knows since I'm pretty sure that games already dead
-
@Kolossoni said:
They said the same for Friday the 13th.
They said the same for resident evil 7: Biohazard.
They are saying the same for this.
People. Just pick your game and stop worrying about one game "killing" (I use that loosely) one another.
Maybe you can finally move one from DBD that ya'll hate so badly.
No game is dying.
Oh I know, this game won't die for a while. If Friday the 13th, a video game about one of, if not the most iconic horror icons didn't kill this game I don't think any game will.
I just made this post as a joke about those kind of posts
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
The YouTube videos online of the game seem okay, but looks quite rough around the edges (as expected in initial telease, so won't hold that against them). I'm uncertain about its potential longevity, based upon the narrow focus to a single game. If it had not focused on a game and instead zoomed in more on folklore in general, there would be more potential for expansion.
It's going to be quite some time before DBD would be at any risk from other challengers. A 4v1 game would have to come up with a more unique idea to make it properly competitive.
It does have potential but it didn't look too great in it's current state, obviously since it's in early access I won't hold that against it. If it ever comes out of EA I'll judge it, but for now I just think it looks okay

Isn't Home Sweet Home a single-player game?
Nah multiplayer, 4 survivors one "spectre" like dbd
-
Both roles are the same, any indoor map. I hate them all
-
I think you need to clarify what you mean. "one hit meta" could mean a lot of things, and I can't think of any that would be considered meta
-
If you ever played Friday the 13th when it came out and joined a public lobby you'd know how garbage this feature would be. Semi good idea in theory, horrible in practice
-
The devs say there is no aim assist/auto aim etc but it's clear there is

It's almost worse to have info on other survivors. You get to watch them crouch walk and hide in the basement while you're busy fixing generators and trying to keep the killer busy.
Yeah...it really points out how little your teammates do. I just use it to figure out if a killers camping or if someone's going for a save
-
I play solo 99% of the time and kindred is a must for me, it helps so much
-
I feel like I'm the only one that kinda enjoys playing against him
-
Solo survivor isn't as horrible once you get out of low ranks. Just came back from a long break so I'm only rank 16 right now, and yeah my team mates are almost always ass

They should sell the game to EA. Maybe then we can get a working game.
I really don't understand why you think EA would do this game good. All of EAs games have been #########, and they rarely support them for a year.
Remember Anthem? Supposed to be supported for years and didn't even last a couple months? They'd do the same exact thing with dbd. Make a quick buck then forget about it
-
They used to have an offering that made maps brighter/darker. It was removed due to them having to reshade and change the shadows for every single map. I don't think this will happen for similar reasons.
That aside, it would be a cool addition
-
I agree, this UI needs to go. Reasons why have already been posted at least 100 times by now so I'm not gonna waste my time typing it
-
"have an open mind"
Proceeds to not have an open mind and insults randomly when people disagree
It's a multiplayer game. Every time you enter a match you should play it through. People leaving because of bugs etc is way more rare than people make it out to be, unless it's a very buggy patch. But even so if you're disconnecting enough to get 2+ hour wait times it not only because of bugs
-
@SkeletalElite said:
Gonna have to hard disagree on the hook gymanistics part.
It's been code for a long time that hook gymanastics=camping. It's been on the wiki, unchanged for years.
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Hooks#Hook_Gymnastics
But no one follows that anymore. When the game first launched that was fairly common knowledge, but nowadays people do it for no reason or telling you to hurry TF up
-
Because of all the bugs that came with this DLC. Half of the time the perks/killer don't work whatsoever. Victor getting stuck in the ground the entire match, perks on both sides not even working, etc. It was a mess of a release
-
Any indoor map, as both survivor and killer. I hate them with a burning passion.
All the others I'm fine with
-
Not sure why people are calling them weak already. Everyone called deathslinger, PH and blight weak on the PTB, and look at them now
-
@AhoyWolf said:

In the PTB it did affect Demo's Shred and Pig's Ambush, but these are most likely bugs, because they didn't consume any tokens.
Ah alright, didn't know that as I'm a console player. Thanks for the info
-
@HollowsGrief said:
This nerf was very likely intended to combat pig dash and probably demo. That being said, I mean, come on bro even though the dash is nuts it's pretty overly restricted in how you get tokens and even without the nerf this perk is honestly a meme trash tier perk, nerfing this reminds me of gearhead.
I don't think they affect the pig or demos special attacks, since they aren't lunges. If that was the case then MAYBE I could see why they nerfed it, but otherwise I don't get it
-
Just gonna put my 2 cents in here but not that it matters, people are gonna disagree and complain anyway.
Victor is NOT the same age as Charlotte. Victor died in the fire that he set that let charlotte escape from the people in the black robes, before they were even teenagers. The lore even says that his body was decaying, but showed resistance to complete decomposition because of charlotte's blood flowing through him.
It showed RESISTANCE, not immunity. Victor is decaying inside of charlotte just at a much slower pace. He was dead for YEARS before they both got taken by the entity. Since he was decaying he did not grow, physically or mentally. He is not a baby, but a child. 10-12 years old at the most.
If BHVR did not intend for him to be a child, then they have to rewrite some of the lore. Until then, the lore states he was a child when he died and started decaying
-
Favorite is oni, second favorite is the twins when you have victor with you
-
I don't see a point in prestiging really. It does nothing other than give bloody clothes, that I don't even wear on my main. At this point it's just a challenge for people to say that they got 3rd prestige on a character
-
Usually 2-4 weeks since their release in the PTB, just depends if they need to tweak anything
-
Playing on xbox one x, I have it on all the time for both roles. The experience is the same either way. Was hoping for better team mates when I see people playing on PC but just had a match with the other 3 PC players urban evading the entire match and lasted 5 seconds in a chase.
So the experience hasn't changed much for me 😂
-
I feel like I see one of these every time I log into the forums. People have been saying it for years but it hasnt come close to dying yet
-

Guilty until proven innocent then? Seems like a system with no drawbacks if you ask me. Guess I just can't play the game anymore!
People would abuse it non stop to dc without getting penalized. It sucks, but every game with a disconnect penalty is like that
-
Were you around for the old ruin? If you weren't, this version of it a lot weaker and much easier to deal with
