It really is about time. She has been an obvious outlier in terms of performance and fun since shortly after get release when everyone realized how good she really is.

This is the hill you want to die on?
-
It’s extremely weak for an ultra rare add-on now. I honestly can’t think of a practical use for it as a 7000 BP item. It’s too risky to use in a chase. I’d rather bring a ranger medkit plus Botany if I’m going to be healing teammates. I guess best case scenario is you pop it on yourself and get to do a gen while healing?
-
The game’s balance is in a lot different place last year compared to last. Last Halloween the general consensus was that a secondary objective would be a reasonable balance change. I wouldn’t be surprised if survival rates had something to do with not having a secondary objective this year. Killers are in a much better spot since last October. It really doesn’t feel like survivors could handle a secondary objective and still have a reasonable chance at escaping right now.

As far as I've been aware totems give Boldness, not Objectives. I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure it was boldness.
That’s correct; totems award boldness.

If we keep making threads about it we’re not going to be able to say it’s underrated anymore.

The ranking system rewards cooperation by the survivors and the killer.
If the killer doesn't camp and tunnel and methodically hooks each survivor , such that everyone is on their last hook at the same time, at which point if they escape it doesn't matter to much.
Meanwhile, the survivors should play slowly, respect the threat of the killer. Heal themselves when injured, etc. By doing so, by the time they die or escape they will surely pip as well.
If both sides play their part everyone gets a bunch of blood points and a ranks up.
I'm not talking about cooperative farming, in which both sides are aware its a joke. Though this can be done as well to accomplish the same task.
In any case. Playing more selfishly will result in a more uneven distribution of results. Ranks will be lost by 2 or 3 of the survivors and the killer will safety or derank as well.
Killers can't rank up without giving the survivors every chance to escape (with the exception of brown ranks, where because you often 4k without a single generator being done you'll 1 pip). Which is troubling since there are emblems which cannot be effectively achieved without the cooperation of the survivors, especially at high ranks.
Survivors can rank up however, by gen rushing and leaving, simple because of the way the emblem system currently distributes rank points.
I could break down the flaws in the current emblem system and its contradictory nature with the killers version which promotes quasi cooperation, while the survivor version promotes a gen rush for a possible rank up and quasi cooperation (less obvious then gen rush and more difficult) for a guaranteed rank up regardless of death or escape.
I’m following you all the way until the part about survivors being able to pip by doing gens and leaving; that part isn’t accurate. The survivors suffer from the same required cooperation by the other side as the killer. Really great explanation of the flaws, though!

Imagine justifying a badly designed game mechanic with lore.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/793592#Comment_793592
I know it’s way better than the old waiting hatch game, it’s just stupid not pipping because last survivor takes the hatch, and you get silver emblem instead of iridescent.
Can you actually articulate why it’s not okay to cite the lore when talking about the emblems? Can you explain how the killers that do play optimally seem to end up at Rank 1?

@martin27 said:
I cared about rank to the point that i wanted to get away from the stupid survivors... now i learned that rank doesn't matter because there is no escape from the stupid.
I respectfully disagree. There’s a clear change in the competency of survivors as you move up to Rank 1.

The best I ever managed as solo survivor is rank 3. I have no clue how its possible to reach rank 1 as solo since the team mates skills you get vary SO much. Currently sitting again at rank 4, struggeling to even stay there cause I keep getting matched with purple or even green ranked killers who tunnel and face camp.
You can get there if you keep grinding it out! Use the games where you’re tunneled to work on your loops. Don’t be bashful about running DS or BT! It’s an uphill journey, but you can definitely make it to Rank 1 as a solo.

That’s fine too! I don’t think anything less of people who don’t care and just play casually.

Except that survivors have free escape (hatch spawning with still 5 gens).
Also, the pip system is pointless, as killer you have to play not optimally/ throw the game.
In the game’s lore the entity feeds on the hope of the survivors. The killer is not intended to completely dominate the survivors each trial. It’s too bad that it may make killers feel like they can’t play optimally.
Also, there are plenty of killers who DO play optimally at Rank 1, so I’m not sure your point is completely accurate or valid.

Hey, it's alright to feel that sense of accomplishment for ranking up. Especially with this broken ranking system.
I will say however, I hope you're not one of those players who just try to ruin the game for the other side. Because while I don't see the point in being competitive in a game like DBD, I can at least understand why some people are competitive in it. Just don't ruin the game for others.
I don’t BM killers. There’s actually a lot of mutual respect between the Rank 1 killer and survivor players on NA PC.
-
@December_1863 said:
well enjoy getting cucked by that stupid broken ranking system
I don’t have a problem with the idea that you need to do a little of everything to rank up. The problem is that in practice the ability to pip as a survivor is completely dictated by the killer.

I think its more so just the... baffling mind-set some people have I guess? Like, it's so depressing when someone says that when they lose because they didn't 4k which apparently is the only way to win...
Or if you're a Survivor it's the case with Surviving the match... you can die and still have a good time.
I would go as far as to say you should GG regardless of whether you had a good time or not. I don’t have fun getting 5 gen’d, but I’m still going to give the killer a GG if they played exceptionally well.
-
If people only GG when they win, they don’t understand where the sentiment comes from, OR they do understand and are just poor sports. The lack of sportsmanship and camaraderie in this community can certainly be disappointing.
-
What kind is weird psychological manipulation is this? If the company is missing deadlines for a community event, deadlines they set themselves mind you, it is 100% reasonable for people to be upset. Also, I think it bears repeating; lots of people are more upset with the way the delay was communicated than the delay itself.
-
I’m not ready to give up yet, but I completely understand how you could be frustrated enough to do so. The killer hit boxes feel terrible as survivor, especially around vaults and pallets. Dead Hard has been made completely unplayable. Billy’s saw is worse than ever. I’ve seen multiple comments from killer players about being frustrated with Nurse and Myers. The game is definitely not in a good place right now.
-
When you successfully fake a vault at T L wall and buy yourself a few more loops. Even better if you can make a second juke.

Med-kit add-ons only have an effect if you're healing with a med-kit. Healing other survivors in the standard way while holding a med-kit (with add-ons equipped) will have no effect on healing.
You can tell if you're currently being affected by anything which changes skill check difficulty, skill check success zones, healing speed etc. by looking at the icons above the healing bar and the colour of the bar. If there are no icons present and the bar is the regular blue colour, then you're just healing normally.
Yeah, good points. I was thinking more along the lines of an unintended increase in Skill Check frequency.
-
I agree; Spine Chill is a mandatory perk for survivors right now. Ghost Face's ability solidified this as a meta perk for high rank solo players. Spot on point about it being useful 100% of the time in 100% of games.
-
I made a similar post earlier but was a little more belligerent towards the survivor community and it was removed. Glad you were able to get the same sentiment out without insulting anyone.
-
I’m playing Trapper and Nancy a lot right now. Got Nancy to P3 but I’m a little disappointed in her bloody outfit. Trapper is a ton of fun if you can get a little momentum.

I'm not going to tell you to "git gud", but I am confused. Why would they go out of their way to disable a perk when you could just... not use it?
I am not a smart man. I’ll take it off for one trial after getting screwed, have a chase where I wish I had it, then put it back on thinking “maybe it will work this time”.

@Peanits said:
18% faster generator repair speed would be massive.
For what it's worth, though, there are people out there who are actually using it right now. I wouldn't say it's the most popular perk around, but there's a niche group of people who love it.
I’m running it right now in a feeble attempt to counter the slow down meta. IW, DS, Adrenaline, Resilience.

I had a game recently where it looked like the flick Billy used to be able to do at the end of his sprint was back.

I don't know what it is but I have heard nothing but bitching and complaining these past few months about how much BS Spirit is. Frankly, I'm getting tired of it. She is strong killer that does not need to be touched. I'm tired of survivors always crying to Devs for Nerfs and wanting DBD to essentially go back to the dark times. Get good at mind games or get rekt. Simple as that. She is perfect the way she is and I don't believe the Devs need to touch her at all. Maybe swap mother daughter ring rarity with prayer beads. That's it!
Edit: To further elaborate, we barely have any killers who hold a strong threat. I know that every killer can get a 4k but not all are viable at Red Ranks. If survivors really wanted to counter spirit or any killer they would bring Iron Will but they refuse because it's not Meta like DS. Adrenaline. Dead Hard and Unbreakable or Deliverance or whatever other Meta there is. Because they do not want to change up their build they would rather complain until the killer gets nerfed so they can keep their build.
All the killers are viable at red ranks. If you think otherwise you’re not actually playing at red ranks.
-
I never buy Moris so those are always tough.
-
I played against a SWF that called themselves the Banana Squad when I was a brand new player. Banana Dwight, Banana Meg, Banana Claudette, Banana David. They crouch walked the entire map in a straight line. The game was 45 minutes of pure hilarity. They took turns walking into my trapper traps and freeing each other. There was a bug with the traps where every few times someone would fly up into the air. Easily one my all time favorite DBD moments.

Just leave Steve alone and come be a big brain Nancy main.

To be fair, isn’t everyone that makes a post seeking some attention? I don’t see why that’s a bad thing. Also, this community will make fun of you for just about anything.

"Nurse isn't even that strong"
Oh wow, really, wow. How can anyone be playing this game and think this? On my very first match as killer I played Nurse and got an easy 4K. No perks and no add-ons. That was about a year ago and survivors were a lot stronger back then.
And how are you playing basekit nurse when you are using up all her stuff? If you are using up all your add-ons surely you aren't playing basekit nurse.
It’s an edgy, click bait thread that goes against common consensus. Some might call it ‘bait’.

I only use two stealth perks and in my opinion, it can usually work if you know what to do if you get caught.
I noticed your loadout. I highly recommend pairing Fixated with Spine Chill if you haven’t tried it yet. Super underrated perk combo.

I play in high ranks and stealth is viable, you’ll know it is Freddy and you still have the lullaby to use.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/782803#Comment_782803
Still kinda depends on a lot of factors though.
I play at rank 1 on PC with a stealth-based loadout; it doesn’t make the build any less oppressive in the hands of the better killers in my opinion.
-
I think new Fredster is more fun to play against than old Fredster. That said, the global slowdown build is oppressively strong right now.
-
The build everyone is complaining about is Dying Light, Ruin, Sloppy, and Thana alongside chains and brush.
-
I honestly think the gen speed is in a reasonable place right now. I kept a spreadsheet last month where I recorded escapes over 100 games and it was right at 50% playing at ranks 1-5. That makes me think the gen speed is pretty balanced. A little more anecdotally, I’ve also had a few 4K games as Bubba with no ruin just this week.

Oh no, I don't mean that. I mean the people that get actively rude or DEMAND something back cause of it. Disappointment I get, but things like this happen and it takes time to fix. No one has any reason to be douchebags to the Devs or demand compensation.
Fair enough; nobody deserves be harassed over a video game. I can certainly agree with that.

I think its more so because a lot of people think their team is huge, but it's actually not. (Aka, what you said but people think their team is big regardless if they're triple A)
So in turn they believe an issue will get solved in a day or two, when in reality if your team consist of not many coders for example... than it'll take more time since not many people are looking for the issue.
Most people don’t think or care how big the team at BHVR is. All they know is the event is postponed and that’s disappointing. Customers don’t care about the details of the business; they just want the product or service they’re paying for.

@UlvenDagoth said:
you are so right with this man. People dont seem to get it.
Don’t seem to get what? People aren’t allowed to get upset when a developer misses a deadline? Regardless of the underlying issue and what it takes to resolve it, I don’t think it’s out of line to be disappointed the event isn’t launching on time.

I play in the US East and typically when I am killer my survivors range from 40-180 ping. I play on console so that’s pretty typical.
I have had players from all over the place in my lobbies. They could also be SWF though. One of my friends lives in Central America and we match with killers from all over the world.
Maybe it’s a matchmaking thing and not a server thing?

Best I could find. I'm not an expert, even in Python. And even if I was, I would not just know what language a game is written in without, you know, looking it up at least once.
And does me being wrong about the language in any way mean I'm wrong about the troubles with bug finding? Does it invalidate my post?
Also, if you know, out of curiosity; what language IS DBD in?
I don’t know what language it’s written in. It’s built with the unreal engine, so I don’t imagine there’s as much opening a text editor, altering, and recompiling code as you’re implying. It’s a pretty long winded post when you have no actual idea what their development stack is like. I guess my I was being a twat with that comment. I think all the speculative posts about why the event is pushed back are getting to me. Sorry m8.

From a job posting from BHVR for a Programmer.

If your team is cleansing there is no counter as a solo. You need to hope that your team aren’t dummies giving her free downs via Corrupt Bile.
