For me it's sounds and maps.

Well, either they get information that we don't through their Discord server, or they're flat-out lying to us, because I've seen Paulie Esther announce things on his stream, based on things he's been told by the devs, that haven't been announced on social media or the forums yet, in the same way as Puppers did in this case.
Guess he was just making up bs like I said. The devs confirmed it'll be dropping on the 10th.

If so... Why did he said, that he got a message from the devs and is spreading this info?
People can say what they want, but unless he can provide a screenshot from said dev I'm gonna treat it as bs.

They do and they don't. As I understand it, the devs do tell things to the Fog Whisperers that they don't announce anywhere else, at least not until later on, but there's generally nothing stopping them from sharing that information on their streams.
The only time they usually do get told information early is when they're invited HQ, but even HybridPanda said when that happens they sign a legal document that prevents them from talking about it. So they aren't really free to talk about that information without facing legal consequences.
-
@myers_obsession said:
Do we can trust a fog whisperer or is he talking nonsense? Why don't you say it?
https://clips.twitch.tv/AbnegateSneakyMooseAsianGlow
Peanits said its 3 weeks this time after ptb release, so he meant March 10.
Fog whisper doesn't give them access to exclusive insider knowledge we don't have, so they know just as much as we do.
-
One of the devs made a comment about it back when it was introduced. They added such harsh penalties to it because they were worried it would be "too overwhelming" on smaller maps. 🙄

@LetsPlayTogether said:
Killers need to learn, that they not deserve to get 4k.
They do if they've managed to completely destroy the last 3 survivors. What is it with entitled survivor mains demanding they get a free escape after losing to the killer.
-
Not really a bug, more just the devs keep changing and messing sounds to the point where killers can't hear footsteps, breathing, etc anymore unless you have a really good headset. And since the devs consider killer problems a lower priority, it's been left like this for awhile.
-
@Multitude said:
And if they take the time to do that guess what they aren't doing? Gens.
Yes, SWF will abuse this.
No, this won't be common in rando games as there is no coordination all it will lead to is even higher kill rates in rando games.
I'm convinced that what the killer side of this community wants is for survivors to spawn on hooks.
Have you actually seen it in action? I have been watching streamers do this for the past few hours. You only need one person running to hooks, so 2 survivors can still be working on gens. Since swfs are extremely common in red ranks it definitely will become the norm in red ranks. This in turn will drive more killers to run slugging builds, and we all know how much survivors love slugging killers.

And you know this because you have played a dozen or so games against SWF teams using that strategy? No? Because I think you are probably jumping to conclusions here.
I've been watching a streamer play in a 2 man swf for past few hours and can confirm saboing hooks is op now. The balance team are continuing to show their incompetence.

Wait, I thought they didn't implement DC penalties on other platforms, only on pc? So why would you be at 15 minutes?
I had some crashes with my old computer because of a memory problem. Never had a crash since I have a new computer. The only disconnects I experience at the moment are when someone disconnects from the lobby.
Dedicated servers and dc penalty are live on both pc and console.

Exactly.
That's still good for the game right? I'm not making these buffs sound AMAZING. But thinking that the devs are soooooo survivor sided after a dev post like this is ridiculous. The only thing remotely close to a survivor buff this patch is the Sabotage buff
One update with minor killer buffs doesn't magically wash away the past 6 months of heavy killer nerfs. So far their survivor pampering far out weights killer pampering, so until we start seeing some more quality of life updates for killers they're still survivor sided.

You make it sound like these buffs are game breaking. They will make them viable at best. They're just small quality of life updates that were seriously needed.

I want to show EVERYONE here. including @ all DEVELOPERS , @Peanits ...
of WHY this sort of DC banning stuff should NOT be implemented. At least until ALL issues ARE appropriately addressed. Yes, this was sent OVER to the customer service reps AT BEHAVIOR. Back when this occurred.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/655/5VKXHA6DFQZ8.jpg
Occurrence: January 28th. 5:56pm Year: 2020.
This person BLOCKED the player into a corner and they would NOT let the other person leave. Check the server logs. The player in the blue shirt had crows above their heads.
What made this type of behavior WORSE IS. The killer wouldn't even bother downing them. This is the storm to come. This is what we call "penalty baiting or penalty entrapment ".
This still isn't a reason not to implement DC penalties. Even if this does happen and the trapped survivor DC's, it's only a 5min timeout (unless they've dced multiple times already). This scenario definitely isn't common enough to result in anyone building up a massive timeout penalty. You're clearly just a chronic dcer who's continuing to have a tantrum on the forums.

I get that you wanna keep people in the game. Understandable..I do too, I want to be able to PLAY the game.
But honestly can you fix stuff that's broken before making people STAY in a game that's broken?
I shouldn't be able to vault a window run for about 2 seconds then get downed. It shouldn't be POSSIBLE. At all!!
I mean its horrible, And it happens more and more every game.
That's called latency, every game with servers has it. There is only so much devs can do on their end, but unfortunately they can't fix people's sh*tty internet. So as long as people with potato internet connections play online multiplayer games, you'll have times where you'll get downed/hit where you shouldn't.

Also, what about my post hinted at me being a “survivor main who plays with a SWF?” I said that I DON’T believe that “garbage” Killers get “carried” by Spirit (pay attention to the quotation marks). Do you just copy and paste this message on any discussion where you don’t agree with the OP?
Yeah, sorry, miss read your post my bad.

The funniest bit is the "multiple self care nerfs"
Because yeah, this was real legit and fair:
https://www.twitch.tv/pappusgaming/clip/AntsyIncredulousAlfalfaBibleThump
https://www.twitch.tv/pappusgaming/clip/AntsyIncredulousAlfalfaBibleThump
Can't see why they nerfed that. Not at all.
Self Care only received two nerfs by the way. Changing the speed from 80% to 50%, and then changing the med-kit efficiency from <<<<100%>>>> to 20%.
Infinites? Exhaustion and killer vault speed increases? Really? Because putting up with survivors like "Dev1n" was fun, right?
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/80892245
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/80892245https://www.twitch.tv/videos/80892245
How about flashlights, after Cote got a taste of his own medicine and being embarrassed in front of a live event?
Generator repair times? Because games aren't literally ending in 6~7 minutes already, right? Oh. They are.
DS Nerf? I guess if you want to call allowing the perk to now be able to be used by all 4 survivors at full potential with an easier skill check with no obsession requirement whilst getting rid of both the juggling and enduring counter and being able to activate it even quicker upon being picked up and swapping the killer's obsession which most require avoiding hitting the obsession, a "nerf"
Nerfing "infinites", like really? I guess we should have kept those
Sabotage nerfs, because being unable to literally do your objective as killer unless you slug everyone for 4 minutes was super engaging -- for both killer and survivor, right?
Balanced Landing nerf? I find it stronger now as someone who uses BL. As long as you never relied on using it for abusing infinit-- oh wait I already talked about those.
I mean, we could revert all of those things back in and see how long this game lasts. I'd give it a month. Maybe two tops. I dunno.
But it's Reddit, so I guess it's a joke anyway.
Lmao. Thanks for sharing those links. This really shows how clueless and out of touch the devs are with their own game.
-
Extremely unlikely. Pretty sure they don't have permission to create lore for them. It sounds like it's a struggle just to get the rights to add cosmetics for licenced killers.
-
Yeah, it sounds like they're just going to remove ranks and match us with anyone, while claiming we're being matched via skill.

Problem is, you can't fix gen speeds when an uncontrollable variable is affecting 45% of your total games, first, they had to remove it in order to make it easier to balance games.
Did you miss the part where I said they have the community participate in vanilla experiments? They have plenty of data to show how the base game runs without perks like ruin impacting.
-
@AsePlayer said:

Adding two new changes at the same time instead of one at a time is what causes clusterf*cks in games. They need to see how ruin change affects everything before adjusting the game around it. Very difficult to tell which part is lacking if you release both at the same time.
What a load of cr*p. Any experienced player could see what was wrong with the game, which is why 80% of killers ran ruin at red ranks. The game is already a "clusterf*ck" because the incompetent balance team rushed out a change, which removed the band-aid that helped fix outdated game mechanics.
Then they double down on refusing to fix the issue and even say they're "looking into" the other slowdown perks killers have. That's not the mindset of a development team that wants to fix the core issues of their base game.
But let's put that aside for a second. The devs have the community participate in vanilla games all the time. That should've given them plenty of info on what was wrong and needed fixing.

It's a combination of factors. Self-Care being so highly used isn't a big deal, because it's not breaking anything. But Ruin being so highly used was more of an issue because of its warping effect on the entire game experience.
Lol. Forgot to add "for survivors" on the end of your sentence there, bud. If you actually cared about "the entire game experience" you would've released the ruin change with a fix to gen speeds or added a second objective for survivors. Instead you guys ignored the impact this would have on the killers experience, while also saying yous are coming after the other slow down perks killers have.
Also, how about releasing the stats for us to see for ourselves. Many streamers and I see borrowed time, ds, dead hard, and adrenaline used just as much as selfcare, so until you release these stats I'm calling bs on that claim.
-
The art and design team are awesome, but the balancing team need to be fired and replaced with devs who are more competent.
-
@ZoneDymo said:
you could also like, stop assuming so much...
Did they nerf self care again just because its still used far more then any other survivor perk? no, because nobody has a problem with that perk now.
It's not assuming. The devs said they're now looking into other slow down perks and how they synergise, which means dying light, sloppy, and thana are more than likely getting nerfed in the near future.

I DO play Clown on Red Forest, and I do very well the majority of the time. Big maps present extra challenges, but they’re not impossible. Just need to keep a cool head.
But even then we just need to sometimes accept that we will lose. Game balance isn’t making it impossible for the survivors to escape.
Of course you do, I'm sure you've got proof of these magical wins? I'm happy to accept a loss when I actually lose because I was out played by skill, not because a game and dev team heavily favour one side and refuse to fix poorly designed game mechanics that get abused to secure a win.

BHVR will be able to get more reliable data now on whether gen rush really is a big problem without old Ruin skewing Killer success rates. This will lead to better balancing in the future.
And yes this is healthy for new killers because they now HAVE to learn to manage their time by constantly switching from chases to gen pressure.
Stop with this stupid "just apply pressure" bs. Try playing clown on red forest, then try and say "just apply more pressure ". Ruin was never a crutch, it allowed killers to play in a fair way that was fun for both killers and survivors. Now that ruin is gone killers have either left because killer is too stressful now, or they slug and tunnel to slow down a 5min match. Unless you're playing a high mobility killer, it's impossible to pressure gens while chasing survivors on massive maps, unless they all become super altruistic.

I thought queue times were fixed the day of the update, but yesterday it all went back, 10+ mins waiting as survivor and less than 1 min for killer.
As a Rank 1 killer and Rank 2 survivor I politely ask you NOT TO LOBBY DODGE, you need to learn to play against everyone, and don't come to me with your:
"WoUlDn'T yOu dOdGe A LoBbY whErE...?"
The answer is NO, I don't dodge lobbies, the only justifiable reasons to lobby dodge is Ping and knowing a guy in the game that you have played against and you know he is a toxic player or a DCer, any other reasons are just lame excuses...
In game DCing is another issue, don't get lost from the thread please...
Nope. I'm gonna banish you back to the queue when I see 2+ toolbox's or keys. There is seriously no need for them now that ruin is nerfed. I'm not going to force myself to play a match with other players who have every intention of making the match miserable for me.
-
Lmao. Gates only take like 15 seconds to open, but sure... pretend like gate times have a significant impact on the game. Also I would like to know why you think 1 killer is over 50% of a killers objective?

The first three gens are probably 33% of the survivors' objective if you're being generous. Just like how one kill is over 50% of the killer's objective. If you don't understand where these estimates come from, you don't understand how dbd is played.
Lul. 3 gens done is 60% of the survivors objective and 1 kill is 25% of the killers objective. I don't know where you got your numbers from.
-
I know the feeling. I played dbd today for the first time in like 4 weeks and it's in such a terrible state. When I played killer I was put on coldwind, red forest and auto haven on all my killer matches, which was extremely stressful because survivors would just run straight to god loops and safe pallets. Then I decided to play survivor, which was extremely boring because there wasn't enough time to do anything or earn a good amount of points, since games are over in 5 mins. And for some reason the devs still say they won't touch gen speeds. 🙄
-
Lmao, "no counter "? I've been playing Doctor for a couple of hours and survivors have already learned to dodge his shocks during chases. 🙄Another typical lazy survivor that doesn't want to learn how to counter killers.

Yes camping and tunneling totally wouldn't make killer queues skyrocket...
Killers aren't the ones suffering from 15min+ wait times atm. :) So even if a bunch of survivors quit because of camping and tunneling, I bet killer queues would still be instant.

Lul, have a look at your history on these forums. Most of your comments reek of survivor bias. Talk about pot calling the kettle black. 🙄

How would it be a nerf to every killer?
I literally specified that it will ONLY apply to Spirit during her phase walk.
Unless every killer can phase walk I don't know what you're talking about lmao
Spirit already had collision removed and they gave her a vault animation, she's doesn't need anymore nerfs. You essentially want the game to reward you for playing poorly, and make the killer work even harder for tracking you down and injuring you, think about that. How about learning to play against her, instead of coming to the forums are asking the devs to nerf her.
-
This killer is playing witcher 3 and shadow of war. I don't plan on coming back to DBD till killer sounds and gen speeds are fixed.

@NuclearBurrito said:
Guys. 1 bad update isn't enough to overturn years of consistent (albeit very slow) improvement.
Even several wouldn't be enough.
We get that the devs suck at communication for the most part. But it's unfair to turn on them just because they have flaws sometimes, and the whole "oh they've shown their true colors now" thing is just total BS.
We get it, they should word their things better and address ######### faster. However if you are going to complain at least keep it to what is actually true. The devs don't hate you and they do (eventually) get to solving whatever problems get found with the game.
Their direct perk buffs have been great. EGC was (mostly) great. Oni once they fix his flick is cool. New Doctor is really cool and it sounds like he's being buffed after the PTB.
Even new Ruin is still a good perk, even if it obviously won't compare to current Ruin (lets be honest nothing really can compare to current Ruin) and now that Peanits has explained more about why Ruin is being changed like this it even seems like it could be good in the long run.
Basically the idea (according to Peanits) is that by removing Ruin the devs can see what the game looks like without it with a much bigger sample size. Obviously we (as players) expect to see gen rushing be a problem. If this is the case then the Devs should expect to see this and know the exact magnitude of the problem thus letting them address it properly with a non-bandaid basekit fix. However if they tried to address it immediately, then Ruin masking the issue makes it extremely difficult to implement the proper solution.
Should they have said all of that in the dev update? Totally. But if you don't get blinded by poor details and look at the big picture you will see that the devs genuinely are trying to fix the games problems.
In terms of actually succeeding they aren't 100%. But that's not the point. Biased devs wouldn't try to fix these kinds of issues at all.
It isn't just one bad update though, it's been continuous killer nerfs for the past 5 months. It's gotten to the point where I don't look forward to each update, because it comes with some unnecessary nerfs to killers that'll add more stress to playing them. I've even stopped buying new dlc now because the devs gut every new killer to low tier.
-
Well, he's the one who has been pushing for ruin to get nerfed since he joined the dev team back in 2018, it's expected that he should be the one to deal with all this backlash. Especially since he's ignoring all feedback and is just going to jam this change down our throats.
-

1. Learn what a paragraph is.
2. The game shouldn't be balanced around 1 perk.
3. First they came for borrowed time,
And I said nothing, for I do not run borrowed time.
Then they came for decisive strike,
And I said nothing, for I do not run decisive strike.
Then they came for balanced landing,
And I said nothing, for I do not run balanced landing.
Then they came for ruin,
And there was no one left to speak for ruin.
You're comparing apples to oranges here, bud. Those changes were necessary because they were ridiculously op and had no draw back. They were also being abused by swfs to create things infinite loops.
Ruin was never op. It had an easy counter and was one of the only perks that was a band-aid fix for broken gen speeds. Those survivor perks were balanced to improve the games health, while ruin, doctor and other killers have been nerfed just because they were irritating to go up against.
-
Nope. Before the update goes live I'm gonna use all my moris and play as toxic as possible. Then I'm gonna find another game to play. Time to show survivors what going against an actual frustrating killer is like.
