I guess this is the main thread now. The other one was closed and all comments that said the problem wasn't fixed were deleted.

All the comments (at least the ones after it was fixed last time) from the other thread were deleted and the thread was closed. I guess because it was briefly fixed last time, but it's still affecting a lot of us.

I was actually contemplating getting a PS5 soon, so... might be a game I pick up. I didn't bother with the evil dead game or Friday the 13th, but this might be a pretty chill party game to fall back on when DBD gets me stressed.
You should reconsider. F13 is all but dead, but Evil Dead is a hell of a lot of fun.
I need to play that one more, myself.
-
No.

I personally love the distortion effect, but it makes sense that there might be an accessibility option that just dims the screen or something similar instead for people who have problems with it as-is.
I'd be pretty sad to see it go, though. It's one of my favorite things about playing against Clown.

In all seriousness, do you have any good recipes?
Been looking to try new foods.
Yes.
I didn't forget you, I'm just lazy.
I'll start a cooking thread in the off-topic section before too long. Going on an extended fast so my fat ass can drop a few pounds, and my favorite thing to do when I'm fasting is watch cooking shows and read cookbooks all day.
I do have a bunch of my favorite recipes stored somewhere, also.

I'm ngl a deep friend poached egg sounds vile but also exsctly like the type of food you find around here
Well, the cookbook calls it a "crispy egg", but it's really just poaching an egg halfway and then deep frying it. It looks good; haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I'm more excited about the recipe that's on the page after that one. That is probably going in the cooking thread, if you're interested.
-
It's really not. Good survivors would find it immediately even before its "nerf", and now you know exactly where survivors are going to be headed while they're all Exposed and vulnerable.
A few seconds after survivors know it's there (preferably after securing a hook), go patrol the hex totem for an easy kill.
-
7.1.1 didn't fix it for me, either. But hopefully this means they'll have time to investigate now that all the bugfix stuff has been done.

@hailxsatanxeveryxday I wonder if it'd be easier to just give the old Stadia users with this problem codes for the DLC in Steam, instead of fixing this issue every update or having to accommodate for old Stadia support. I could see that as borderline sketchy from the company viewpoint though, and I'm not sure if we'd lose character progress.
It appears that character progress is linked to the account separately from the DLC/characters unlocked since we didn't lose any progress last time this happened, and I still very clearly have the red backgrounds from P3ing them before that one big update even though they're grayed out and I can't play them.
But I think the bigger issue is that you can't, as a developer, just generate free infinite Steam codes for whatever reason. Also, I'm pretty sure some of those DLCs might come with extra cosmetics that I didn't pay for since I bought some of the characters with auric cells - not that I'd complain much if I got cosmetics for free.
I just wanna play Michael again.
-
Support just now responded to the ticket I sent in June when this first happened.
Our only hope is that the devs see our forum posts and fix it again somehow.
EDIT: And their answer was basically, "Please give us more information next time. Your ticket is now closed. Were you satisfied with your experience?"
-
Been without my favorite characters for five days now.
Almost had all my killers and survivors P3'd. Just waiting to get Haddie back.
C'mon, guys. I spent, like, $25 on those Attack on Titan killer skins, and I don't even watch the show...
-
Yeah, all still missing.
-
We already have several threads about this, but sure. They were still missing earlier today, but I'll check again. Been too lazy to file a support ticket yet.
I also noticed that some of my cosmetics are missing.

This happened to me too a while back when SM was first released, but it hasn't happened since. I saw one other person complain about it.

Well, I'm not too worried. Deerstalker won't be an S-tier perk two weeks from now. With two Nichloas Cages in every lobby and all of them wanting to try out the new perks, though, it's a lot of fun today.

Actually seems fair to me.
If they want to avoid my Deerstalker, they can run Distortion or hide in a corner of a map before healing (two Nichloases did this, and it worked for one of them) to waste my time or even avoid being found altogether.
I don't think it's fair to remove the only counterplay that perk has (which also requires me to waste an entire perk slot in hopes that somebody's running it). Slugging yourself for a free heal is supposed to be risky, not a guaranteed thing. Survivors will eventually figure out how to use it efficiently.

It wouldn't hurt? Is it hurting now? Apologies, just trying to understand.
Yeah, I think it's hurting now in ways that it didn't used to.
Five years ago, I myself (as a bisexual guy) would've been annoyed that sexual orientation gets discussed and over-represented to death in every major form of media, but it frankly just didn't feel as dangerous to be LGBT back then.
There's been such a visible increase in homophobia in society (American society in particular) and homophobic violence in general that, yeah, it suddenly feels important.
If the idea of someone having a different sexual orientation to you bothers you, you're part of the problem.
Because that's what you're getting at, right? You don't care about sexual orientation. You (and the people who upvoted your post) just don't want to hear about gay people. Come right out and say it. Am I wrong?

My post is not about LGBT+? I did not even ask to add more LGBT+ characters on my post. I just asked should we reveal all of them. And this does not mean they all will be LGBT+ characters. Only few of them are LGBT+ most likely.
It would just be awkward if BHVR suddenly released a huge list detailing every character's sexual orientation, but I do think there's room for more visibility.

Maybe, but the main "nerf" it needs is just to not stack with other perks. An extra 3% isn't great, but it's not especially awful until you've got four people doing circles around a boon totem with Hope, Shadow Step, and Dark Theory.
While we're on the subject, it's interesting that it does the exact same thing as Dark Theory, except better and with no drawbacks.

Limited sample size, but not really:
Played 8 games with Pig yesterday, 'all auras' build using brown crouching add ons with Lethal Pursuer, Nowhere to Hide, I'm All Ears and either BBQ or Darkness revealed.
7 of those games involved a survivor map offering, at least a couple were SWF and one was a last second switch to four flashlights. Those 7 games resulted in either a 4K or a 3K + hatch. The one game without a map offering, Springwood, 1K, likely a SWF but no flashlights.
This pattern is more or less reflective of all of my Pig games.
Points I'm trying to make here: If you don't stick to the 'meta' and explore other builds, you can come up with some really effective strategies. Info is incredibly underrated, particularly on stealth killers (so Ghostface and Myers also benefit form this build) and Pig's innate slowdown more than makes up for any regression. Map offerings are largely inconsequential, you can still outplay survivors on a survivor sided map, and you're just as likely to get a survivor sided map without an offering.
Pig is a very different animal than Ghostface or Myers. People say that she's a D-tier killer because she has no chase power, but she has built-in slowdown and can afford to run information perks (and therefore benefit from them more).
And that's the thing: information builds are extremely deadly on killers that can make good use of them. I've actually done some experimenting with them lately, and my best Plague build is three info perks plus Bamboozle - no slowdown required, and I win almost every game - but Plague has a ranged attack and all four survivors are running around broken for most of the game.
Myers and Ghostface can't give survivors extra objectives or deter people from rushing gens the way Pig can. If survivors are on gens against those types of killers, they're on gens, and every info perk you run is one slowdown perk you lose out on, which was fine when there was more than one decent slowdown perk in the game.
I'm going to have to disagree with you there: If you're running Ghostface or Myers especially, and all-info build is a great way to lose every match. All the information in the world doesn't help you if the gens are done by the time you've gotten a single kill.

Which would of just ended up with the Survivor on hook dead anyway???
The only difference here is at least the Survivor has the chance to initiate chase once again which in most cases if the Survivor has half a brain can waste more time than if they were just to sit on the hook
Good thing survivors don't have half a brain in most cases, then. In public matches, the numbers are on my side.

I still don't understand how having 3 Survivors have the option to remain on gens while you now need to take more time to kill a single Survivor by face camping because you have STBFL and Bam is a positive for this playstyle. But if you think so, then you do you king
If the three other people were all perpetually on separate gens for two minutes straight, I wasn't running Deadlock, and the survivor times the self-unhook properly, maybe.
In reality, Meg was looting a chest, David was crouching in the grass ten meters away waiting for me to go away so he can get his daily, and Claudette gets off her gen as soon as she realizes I was tunneling and tries to bodyblock me.
@Firellius said:

I would assume the self-unhook is elective, so the hooked survivor can wait until the last second of their hook stage and then hop off, causing the mini-chase to add to his time.
Hence why I said that I could just pretend to go away for five seconds. If they fall for it just once, that makes up all the other time you might waste chasing them around the hook.
Did this make it into the PTB?

I mean it just seems like reverse logic no???
If the Survivors wouldnt have gone for the save, that Survivor would have died in 2 minutes. If they did, chances are the best outcome would of been a trade
Now if the Survivors dont go for the save, the Survivor on hook can just free themselves while the other 3 are free to do gens. Sure you may get 1 or 2 more STBFL stacks, but do you really value that more than an entire kill?
Youre also making it sound like the moment the Survivor free's themselves that theyre just going to stand there and let themselves die.
So I may not have an answer no, but thats because this logic of yours just doesnt make any sense whatsoever. This is the best I could make of it.
No, the point of facecamping STBFL isn't "getting more stacks", it's getting the kill. No, they're not just going to stand there and die; that's the entire point of running the perk. Alternatively, you could just count to ten, but tunneling through basekit BT is the way I do it.
If it takes two minutes for a survivor to die if nobody comes for the save, then I'm assuming the rate at which a survivor is able to unhook themselves is significantly faster than that to make it worth it.
Assuming you can chew through their Endurance and down them fairly quickly (run Agitation to hook them in a pallet deadzone and Bamboozle the nearest window before they self-unhook), you can probably get that same kill in two minutes or less, and even in some strange alternate universe where the three other people were all on different gens at the same time, it's now a 3v1 with two gens left, and you have Bamboozle and a fully stacked STBFL.
This is all contingent on how quickly the survivor can unhook themselves after being facecamped, but I think it sounds like "reverse logic" to hand to me the exact thing I was already doing by proxy camping, except faster, and then call it a nerf to facecamping.
If survivors can unhook themselves quickly, I'm going to get a lot out of facecamping from now on. I no longer have to wait for someone else to come for the save; it happens on its own and faster than it did before.

I'm sorry, but logic is so absurd and makes absolutely 0 sense.
Explain how or concede the point.
I'm asking a question here. What's to keep me from facecamping a hook until the timer fills up, pretending to leave for five seconds, and then tunneling them right back onto the hook with STBFL, killing them as fast as or faster than if someone had come for the unhook?
If you don't have an answer, I can accept that, but if you have some insight into this I don't, please do elaborate.

How will it work no matter what?? If anything it nerfs this playstyle since the other Survivors can now sit on gens while youre busy at the hook.
I guess it depends on how quickly survivors can unhook themselves. If I'm "busy at the hook" for under a minute until the bar fills up, and nobody's running Kindred and/or it isn't an SWF on coms, which means one ore more are at least going to get off gens to check and waste time, especially if they assume faceamping is dead and that they'll get a rescue for sure, then that's a survivor dead in ~3 minutes.
The other survivors had better have been very productive in the meantime, or they're dead, too.
EDIT: And you just know that, every other game, two people are going to throw themselves at the hook and/or try and fail to bodyblock once said survivor has unhooked themselves.
This will also turn Reassurance into a griefing perk.

Responding to a character's popularity with more cosmetics isn't tokenizing the character. Its just good business. Your argument was based entirely around the sexuality of a survivor as being the only reason why they should get more cosmetics. That is tokenism.
Yeah, but this is the time of year where we all hold hands and celebrate tokenism while corporations pretend to care about LGBT rights (after most battles have already been won and public opinion is on their side) in a shameless cash grab.

Let's not forget killer should be the power role, survivors escaping should be the exception and not the rule and it feel special, have you seen no horror movies?
So maybe stop complaining, don't lobby dodge, and play meaner.
I'm stomping P100s and Twitch streamers with hundreds to thousands on followers regularly.
When you see a team in a lobby that you just know are going to be one of those teams, switch to a build you have saved for the occasion and play them, anyway. It's the only way you'll get better.

Remove me from the euqation so you can't say I'm bad and I am the problem.
Go watch Otz and Truetalent. Both of them will occasionally get the "gen rush" and the game ends with 1-3 hook states. Yes it is true the majority of players cannot repair gens efficiently and be strong loopers. But what's a killer supposed to do when that happens?
When you see 9000+ hour players suffering with "real" builds you know something is wrong with the game design. I'm guessing you're not going to tell them to "get good" when they play the game for a living as a professional.
You can't win every single game, no matter how good you are. I do wish that were true.
Also, I've personally found that while, obviously, builds that decimate solo queue aren't effective on "SEAL survivors", the reverse is also true. I keep multiple builds handy and do my best to guess at the skill level and strategy of the group I'm playing against.
-
Killers will probably eventually get buffs, but things are going to get bad before then.
- Survivors will eventually realize that DH was given a placebo nerf and start running it again (it's still annoying as hell when you do see it; the only thing the "nerf" did was make sure most people don't run it anymore), which will be doubly effective since killers don't check for it or try to bait it out anymore.
- Survivors are focusing less on healing and more on gens, use of perks like Resilience are up, and there's no reliable way to regress gens anymore, so I'm already seeing my games become much shorter on average. (Still winnable, but it means playing nasty and aggressive and going for snowballs as much as possible.) This will only get worse with time.
- And then bots will probably measurably decrease kill rates as well, even if DC'd survivors don't count towards official kill rate statistics. (I still think this is a good change in general.)
- Survivors are getting good at ignoring the healing changes by running multiple healing perks (my most successful build on solo at preset is Botany/Desperate/Overcome/Self-Care - I have gotten 5-6 game winstreaks with this); if one or more survivor runs such a build, it can largely or completely negate the so-called anti-heal meta, and the more survivors figure this out, the lower kill rates will plummet.
- If current trends continue, tunneling will be nerfed, Deadlock will be nerfed to ten seconds, and they'll rework PR.
At some point, all this will come to a head, and kill rates will start dropping. At that point, we'll probably get another 6.1.0.

You are not telling me bots are playing better than you, don't you? Or do you? 😶
How do bots work? I'm not familiar, but if they hit every skillcheck every time, can perform perfect flashlight saves, and actually (unlike most solo queue survivors) focus on gens, it seems like that'll affect game balance and kill rates.
I have no idea how much he is exaggerating, but.
Can someone explain this to me, please?
-
What's to stop me from facecamping the hook with STBFL and just downing them again as soon as they get off of hook?
It sounds to me like this change will result in survivors getting off the hook far faster than before, which also means I can down them and put them back on the hook quicker.
@Shroompy said:
What you described is assuming the killer is mindlessly following the first Survivor until they get downed which will only work against your average pub Survivors (which tbf is like over 95% of games)
To actually gain pressure you need to play the 4v1, not hope that you can end the 1v1 fast enough to manage a 3v1 afterwards. You wanna slowly widdle Survivors of their resources so that towards the end they are left with practically nothing. Not only is this a more effective way of playing, but its also WAY more fun for both sides since you are constantly jumping from Survivor to Survivor.
This new mechanic to counter facecamping is just that. Optimal ways of playing will not be affected whatsoever since there are things in place to prevent Survivors from abusing it. Overall this is a great change
Trying to tunnel one person out and then taking on the other three is my preferred strategy, but it really only works if survivors are super altruistic and constantly, immediately go for unhooks. Now, it will work no matter what.
If this change goes live, the only way they can mitigate that is to give survivors basekit endurance over multiple hits for 30 seconds (which will conversely give me infinite STBFL stacks) or something else similarly completely broken and abusable.
On the other hand, maybe it won't be so boring for the survivor. Even if they're out of the game quicker, at least they get to unhook themselves and try to escape from the killer, and it could be a success in that sense.

Repeatedly killer slugs people and goes after the last survivor so no one gets hatch. Is it fair?
It's not sporting for you, but it is for the final survivor. I very rarely see anyone DC on the hook so the last survivor gets hatch: only when they're left to bleed out. If you don't want that to happen, don't slug and run. Comit to hooking. Then last survivor already has so much stacked against them: they shouldn't suffer for their team mate's decision. If you got a 3k you already won.
DCs should be treated as kills by the game itself.
I think OP is taking about cases where you'll injure one survivor, they'll run you into a far off corner of the map, and then they'll DC, allowing the last survivor to find hatch (bonus points if one of the survivors brought a hatch spawn offering). It doesn't happen all that often, but I've seen it.
-
@Senaxu said:
The solution would be to simply adjust the DC penalty so that it is no longer worth using this tactic.
If the penalties are increased to 5+ min, a SWF won't do it because it's not worth waiting for that DC player to then re-queue and if they do it anyway, then the next penalty will be increased to 10 minutes, which then raises the question of whether it wouldn't be better to change the game from this point on.
If you really had to serve the penalty time at the queue, even if you turned off / close the game after the last DC, there would be a lot less problems with DC's as well. I would implement that immediately.
The latter is a great idea, and I think you should bring it up next time Q&A opens. Of course, you should only have to serve 15 minutes or so at the queue, tops; it's not really fair to people with ######### internet to make them keep DBD open for 72h after a bad day.
I don't know about increasing queue time, but if one member of an SWF disconnects, they should all get the DC penalty. It won't be that big of a deal if one person does it accidentally one time, but if they're making a habit of doing it, they'll feel the effects a lot faster since they won't get four free DCs every day.

Pinky is so overrated imo the only thing it's actually good at is facecamping. It would only work once per match vs good survivors and bottles are actually kinda hard to hit ppl with.
That's why I usually save it until the end of the match. I throw bottles in front of and around survivors, and they'll eventually decide I don't have it (if I'm lucky, an SWF will make a group decision on coms that it's safe to take a bottle hit).
Had a game the other day where I killed one survivor, hooked another, used the Pinky Finger to down the idiot going for the save directly in front of me just as the last gen popped, and then mori'd the Obsession with my Rancor. Didn't even need my NOED.
Yeah, that's a little cheap, but survivors could have avoided the entire situation by not unhooking directly in front of me and the obsession not stupidly popping the last gen when they knew I had Rancor.
That said, there are some really good Clown players who can hit people consistently with one of them. As a controller user, I'm not one of them.

Despite the changes, gen slowdown will still be needed and Deadlock is the only option. There isn't a single killer that the perk is bad on. Deadlock will be the best non-specific killer perk, and every killer will run it. It is 100% getting nerfed probably 8-9 months after the next patch.
Don't worry, though. Slippery Meat will get a nerf to compensate for it, and they'll buff Shadowborn an extra one degree on top of that.
-
The problem with that is that how scummy suiciding on hook is really depends on what's going on in the game
If one survivor is getting chased, one is opening a chest, and another one has a gen at 20% with 5 gens left, and they're very clearly not going to bother coming to get me until well after I've progressed a hook stage, yeah, there's no reason to stay in the match. They clearly don't care about screwing other people on the team over, so I'm not going to feel bad about it, either.
If there are four gens left, all three of the others are on gens, and the killer is camping, yeah, I'll gladly eat a hook stage in exchange for 2-3 gens to all pop at once.

Just because it takes long to go online does not mean it's not a broken addon. Broken is not the same as overpowered.
And I've ran into people running Judith and tuft of fur while already having the achievement. So no bringing those addons to the game does not mean the survivors have to give you kills.
Okay, so what does "broken" mean, then? I was always under the impression that broken was a step or two above "overpowered"; being overpowered to the point of being unfair, in fact. In my understanding of the terminology, Tombstone Piece is broken, but Judith's just sucks.
Running both iris when you already have the achievement is a dumb thing to do, and I hope you won those matches. Generally, though, sane people are not going to do this.
I didn't say that you "had to give them kills". I said that jumping in lockers when you see these two addons is done for the sole purpose of spiting the killer and denying them the achievement, which is true, since you know that you're dead either way.

1 or 2 kills for the killer (without camping or tunneling) and contributions from all survivors.
Okay, then "fair" for me is 3-4 kills for the killer (without Dead Hard, flashlight saves, or BNPs).

It's weird people keep trying to blame survivors for trying to live against a broken addon
It's an achievement that requires survivors to cooperate in order for you to get it. Hopping in a locker against a Myers who's clearly going for this is achievement is about trying to deny them the achievement, not trying to survive.
It's hardly a broken addon, anyway. The amount of time required to get it going combined with its speed penalty makes it useless for anything but getting the achievement.

We'll talk when you dig into why the other Perks are not as good as your main argument other than "they suck gimme better"
Well, it's the only good killer slowdown perk left.
If you want to ask me for an explanation of any other perk, fire away, unless you want me to list all of them in alphabetical order complete with my personal opinions on them (which I'll also be happy to do).
