You're only chance of escaping is to party up with competent teammates until the devs decide to either create a SBMM system or revert back to the emblem system. As long as we have EBMM your only options are to party up or rot in ELO heck.
-
Yes i'm greatful for them butchering matchmaking, destroying console performance, adding a whole slew of game breaking bugs every patch, throwing balance out the window, and in general treating their playerbase like garbage. What a fantastic game.
-
i really wish they would think of us and not themselves with the timing of events. They know the game is going to be broken so if they had any care towards their playerbase they would put space in between in the events and their scheduled breaking of the game.
-
They released another chapter today so i'm going to assume that yes it is broken.

I myself have only been playing here for almost a year now.
Before this, I thought that they were a wee bit greedy for money sometimes - but I guessed all games need to make money to keep going and DbD was no exception.
Also I thought that they weren't overly communicative on issues - but I guessed that they wanted to be concrete on everything before an announcement.
Honestly so many red flags, that I pushed aside because I love the game dearly and thought that "hey, not everyone's perfect mistakes happen. Right?"
It's terrifying to think, that if there had been a sale before the bombshell got dropped; I'd have brought the Pinhead chapter without knowing.
Thank god for small mercies...
And to clarify. Never buying anything unless it's with shards for a long damn time.
I hear ya. I would have totally bought pinhead if they hadn't already gone live with escape based matchmaking. I was pretty mad when they pushed it to the live build but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I can say I didn't support this disgusting "partnership" one bit.
-
I'd say that I'm no longer supporting them over this but that would be untrue. As someone who's been able to see what kind of company they are for a long time, I stopped giving them money before hellraiser was even announced let alone in the game. Glad they confirmed that I was right all along and made the right decision.
-
I'd be fine with that. I didn't even buy it. If they had released it before they went live with EBMM then i might've picked it up but now i'm really glad they didn't.
-
A different company developing it.
-
I'm surprised how many people lost trust in bhvr. Can't remember the last time I felt like they were an honest company in the first place.
-
If only they dad the decency to change the Left 4 Dead achievement when the egc made that nearly impossible without a friendly killer.

How are people feeling about it? I'm excited for the skins but I'm dreading the challenges. I hope the lore cutscene will be animated like his trailer, cause that would be really cool. As for the challenges I'm dreading them cause uh... aiming on console is a bit.. difficult.
Don't worry, when the devs forced crossplay on console players they said the difference isn't that big. You should be fine.
-
It's a less complex system than the emblem system so.... no.

That’s why I’m asking if bad chase baits is enough or if actually touching generators is required, from an official BHVR staff member. Refusing to touch generators or do anything at all and hide on the opposite end of the map is an example of something Peanits said is bannable.
If you stay by your 3 gen and refuse to chase them when given the chance the you are technically holding the game hostage just as much as they are.
-
It is definitely not against the rules to try and counter a 3 gen strat. It would be silly if the survivors had to feed themselves to every killer who sets up a 3 gen.
-
Don't worry. Just lose the next 20-30 matches and your mmr will lower (slightly)
-
I doubt it. They've already shown us with the anniversary event that they are perfectly fine with screwing a large chunk of their playerbase while the rest reap the rewards.
-
As a god tier survivor/killer (according to mmr) I absolutely hate it. My killer matches have become so sweaty that I just facecamp and accept the 2k. As for survivor, it's either a hardcore blight, nurse or spirit that completely obliterates us or an inexperienced killer that is lucky to get 5000 bloodpoints. I'd say the system messes up and gives me a balanced match about 10% of the time.

Doesn't matter how. It is possible to program algorithms to do things like that. Like I said the purpose of the new system is to prevent players from doing what you were trying to do and it worked. The new system is one of the best things they have done for this game.
Lmao so the devs who can't release a patch without the game falling apart designed a super complex mmr system that detects throwing? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
-
Nope. It's terrible and my matches have become waaaayyyy more unbalanced since it launched. I'd say i get mild enjoyment out of roughly 20% of my matches.
-
I was with ya til you threw that 'change my mind' in there... Now I feel like supporting sbmm.

It has become a play while you can before the next update comes cycle.
Then take a break from game because of all the issues.
Honestly each patch is a biggy cyberpunk game launch and got quickly pulled from stores from the backlash (in the beginning).
Yup. Really hard to keep interest when it's like that. Not gonna drop whatever better game i'm playing to play DBD for a month and a half before it gets completely broken again.
-
I agree that information from other websites shouldn't be trusted. For example, I once read an article on Trueachievements.com that stated DBD was a fantastic game. Very dodgy journalism.
-
I started to extremely dislike them when they added crossplay, which was the first blow to console players. Ever since then we've been continually treated worse and worse to the point where i've stopped purchasing any new content. And seeing how they even break the game for pc players at regular intervals with no plans to stop the cycle of break the game then slightly fix it a month later before breaking it again a month or 2 after that, i have completely lost faith in them.
-
Interesting that ppl are saying it's hidden so 'we can't abuse it' when the way to abuse it is very obvious.... play horribly and throw matches. Same as any other game with mmr.
-
interesting that a lot of the people defending sbmm have no explanation for the whole "good survivor leads team of new players against a good killer" thing that the sbmm loves to do.

Hooks? Killing?Escaping?amount of gens done?getting chased for a long time?
is it a win when i run a killer for 3 gens and then get facecamped and carry my team pretty much?
is it a win or tie when i get 8hooks but 0 kills?
why is it such a big secret?
Because they can't tell you something that they don't know.
-
I'm sure the ash IV killer i watched play against pug and marth in the same match loves the matchmaking. He had so much fun getting his almost 5k bloodpoints.

Or maybe you're just not as good as you think you are
Or maybe the system still thinks that 2 vets + 2 noobs who can't even do a skillcheck = a balanced squad.
-
Nope, not for a long time. Tried to in the past but they just keep on reminding me that they don't know what they are doing and don't care either.
-
Seems to still use the "1 or 2 good survivors can make up for the shortcomings of a noob who gets 3 hooked before a gen is done" system. If i'm expected to carry every match from now on then that's it for me as far as playing survivor goes.
-
@Hex_Llama said:
Yeah, I've never understood the "I paid for access to this digital space, and so did you, so only my enjoyment of this space is important!" argument. There's such a thing as sharing the space with other people.
Well, I play Overwatch quite a bit and i've never asked the other team "Geez! Couldn't ya just let us get the payload halfway so it'd be fun for us?!?" And I've never been asked that either.
-
I'd have said a lot worse to your friend. Harassing people after a game is worse than using an unfun yet dev approved playstyle. Unless the person has cheated then they should be left alone.

how to pin comment
tbh i'm not really sure lol

NOED rewards lazy killers who camp in the way that a key can reward a survivor who spends most of the match practising their crouch walk. Neither are fine unless you are of the belief that doing nothing should be viable and rewarding.
-
@EntitySpawn said:
Calm spirit one is fine. Tomes that force you to try other perks are more interesting even from the people you verse.
However the killer one is pointless, I just trapped a survivor at a loop and forced it.
Killer challenges always tend to be the harder or more luck based last tome hitting 2 people with one spray of corrupt puke twice in a match.... no. Lol
Nothing fine about telling a player to follow the killer around and be useless to his team.
-
Literally no other reason besides trolling their playerbase. No way it makes sense to encourage throwing yet implement a SBMM system.
-
Just hope you get a killer who is smart enough to realize you are throwing the match and hopefully they'll leave you be.

I really feel like there's someone at BHVR who's just denying anyone from down grading consoles graphics. I'm assuming it's because the game would be less marketable if it looked like this
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Q9938NNL38TQ/maxresdefault-287-29.jpg
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1827FERT1ECS/dead-by-daylight-mobile-2.jpg
Ultimately, there will come a time where there are more xbox series x|s or ps5 players & any question for optimization will be answered by getting new hardware.
I'd upgrade tomorrow if I could get a Series X from a legit retailer and not a scum of the earth scalper. In the meantime, i'd gladly play with the old DBD graphics if it meant I had full control of my movements.

@CornHub said:
At this point, with a patch that isn't even major causing people to just pause when perks activate or someone gets unhooked, they should just cut their loses & down grad the graphics. I know there's graphic elitists who refuse to play a game if you can't see the pores on people's face, but at this point with rpd tanking frames I can't see a reason why high graphics are needed.
That's what is so ridiculous. They allow pc players to lower their graphical quality but force console players to run high. Many console games now have a graphics mode and a performance mode like Gears of War. Mind you, that game runs better than DBD regardless of which mode you're in but a lower quality graphics mode that focused on performance would be greatly appreciated by console players, i'd imagine.

Remember when nemesis was complete freeze fest? I noticed a lot of people putting sloppy on him then. It was a powerpoint simulator lol.
Yeah lol and just think we were all having our "skill" calculated in the background by the mmr system during all that. It must think i'm the worst nemesis ever since i hit about 3/10 tentacle strikes lol. Guess I'm not skilled enough to aim during a 2 second freeze.
-
Sloppy butcher honestly needs to be disabled. It's 100% an exploit at this point. Until the devs (finally) figure out how to make the game run semi smooth on console, it shouldn't be used. It's been broken for years now but has gotten WAY worse since the RE trashpile was released. Fix it or get rid of it.
-
My question is how many games in a row do you need to get 4k'd before the mmr decides you shouldn't play against nurse every other match?
-
When I intentionally throw a match to do a challenge and the challenge gets done... WIN!
-
It's ridiculous to assign a skill rating in a game where game outcomes are often influenced by rng, a slew of technical issues, and people throwing matches to do challenges. For example, we've been having our mmr calculated for months in the background. That means a large amount of people were judged on matches where they'd hit 0 fps for a couple seconds whenever they charged their power or blew several generators because they were given a skill check during a massive lag spike. When the game itself causes you to lose a match, rating your skill based on that is just silly.
-
That means I was rated on those matches I threw to get some of the more idiotic challenges done.... darn.
-
No, because it is ultimately pointless since the devs have already skewed their own data. I highly doubt the system will be able to tell whether you lost due to lack of skill or if you threw the match to get one of the rift challenges done. Also, mmr won't work in this setting. Most matches are pretty much perks vs perks as opposed to killer vs survivor. Mmr works in overwatch because both teams are on 100% equal footing. If overwatch were like dbd, then i could bring an item which made the other team's payload move moderately, considerably, tremendously slower when i'm on defense. Highly doubt they could create a complex enough system that could factor all that in.
-
Funny how people are saying we should ignore ranks and go by how the match felt, yet during the last test i was able to mostly predict the ranks of my teammates based on how the match felt.
-
Any reason other than "to hide the evidence when the system doesn't work" is a straight up lie.
-

With my friends we stop playing until they fix it, and the most wonderful thing about this is that, we discovered a lot of games that are fun!
Yeah, same here. Every three months I pick up something new to coincide with bhvr's scheduled breaking of the game.
-
The main thing i've always hated is how the devs expect you to keep your opponents in the match. Denying adepts because you didn't prevent the survivor from quitting is idiotic and there's no good reason for the devs to keep refusing to change it.
