I call bullshit on the “it’s for balance”
because ANY OTHER TIME during the game when NOT in chase you can hear ALL the surv & killer sounds: survivor footsteps, Myers breathing, ghost face cloth sound, nemesis stomping , etc
Its time to implement a volume slider.
Hell, even if it's "for balance" there is no reason to NOT just change it and "carefully monitor it for months" just like when they wrecked everything in the past, and I'm mostly sure it WILL NOT affect the game as much as they think.
-
@Smoe said:
devs have stated in the past that the chase music masking Survivor sounds is an intentional balance decision to give Survivors a chance to escape the killer.
And this is why accessibility is a one last thing DBD has lol.
Even smallest inconvenience like this is "intentional design" for some reason.

If someone DC's or hook kts during the first 2 minutes of a match. Replace those players with a bot. Such a simple fix I can't believe it's not implemented yet.
I mean literally just removing hook suicide which is proven to work isn't even implemented yet, and I believe it is order of magnitude easier than bot replacement which isn't very hard either.

he didn't even deserved a nerf just because of survivor frustrations from the beginning, it was ridiculous, weird and strange decision.

a game breaking problem is always in need of rush, even if it doesn't happen often.
Like, there was a decent amount of game breaking bugs which happened extremely rarely, but nonetheless all of them has been quickly fixed and even killswitched.
There is no killswitch feature for game mechanics so we really need to quickly fix this problem.
-
It's actually funny how they marvelously managed to nerf just solo q (and killers in extent) all while "compensate" it for SWFs, lol

Ah yes whole community, it's always "vocal minority" anyone who doesn't agree with it lol

Deliverance exists for a reason. That being said, it goes without saying that if they decide to address the problem with an unhooking mechanic then they'll have to overhaul certain perks/offerings. Or maybe just start punishing players that abuse unhooking. Or both. It all depends on them.
Hell, just removing kobeing penalty would work for this sole purpose, yeah kill rates would tank a hit but it's not like there is no way to buff killers later on.
It won't happen in 99% of matches due to rather low unhooking chance anyway even if it's "free", what's the problem?

I see you're getting awfully emotional and thinking things are "difficult to understand" for me. I apologize that I didn't construe things in the way you wanted me to say them. But I think I'm done talking with you, because you seem to be pretty uncivil about things and are letting your emotions of people going next into our discussion which is making talking to you pretty difficult, as I'm not even the type of person you're talking about.
I mean I've hear it twice now lol.
I don't really understand the purpose of those kind of comments tbh, it's as if people can't stop talking to others unless they declare so, or perhaps they actually DO want to tell someone else "haha you don't deserve my precious time".
I'm just stating flaws in your words from objective standpoint, if you think it is uncivil and difficult, just better stop responding.
That'd do good for ya.

May I ask stop releasing new maps too, pretty much all of them has been disaster and we only gets more and more broken maps every time.
All resources better go into fixing already exist maps tbh.

"Why do we need to care about their "perspective" when they don't have any care for anyone else after all?"
Definite case of pot calling the kettle black.
You do not care about their perspective because you think they don't care about you. Yet it's bad when they do it, because they realize you don't care about their fun. Apparently. Shook.
""I will screw everyone else in a match when anything bad happen for me and this is always on them"."
you really need to get off social media man the majority of people who go next do not think this way, live a little, listen to people and maybe you'll learn that not everything is as you think it is.
It's not because they don't care about "me", actually it's that they don't care about everyone else beside themselves, those kind of peoples are also known as "selfish".
So yeah, it's not same thing, even though it's so difficult to understand.
I wish people to use the words properly before calling it "definite case" really.

it truly is impeccable how you people don't see it from the other person's perspective. what if someone, who also worked the same hours as you, decided they didn't want to play through a match because they only have so much time to play and didn't want to play through an unfun match?
sure, you can argue they should eat a full dc penalty for that, and i don't even disagree, but i feel you only view it from your perspective and treat these other people like they're from the fifth layer of hell. they're players, just like you.
Eh, even if it's unfun for a player, it's not always the case for other four people.
Why do we need to care about their "perspective" when they don't have any care for anyone else after all?
Yeah I do get it when people say "every player is a human so please try to make match fun" but it's ridiculous when they say "I will screw everyone else in a match when anything bad happen for me and this is always on them".

The problem isn't just that Iron Maiden is useless (for the most part), it's the fact that the Perk:
- Severely punishes players for a minor action that doesn't directly involve the Killer in any way
- Affects a statistic for the Killer that should simply be basekit
- Creates necessity for certain Killers that it doesn't need to if the effect was basekit
This is just inherently poor design since a Perk like this should not have any of this. Killers should not have a quality of life feature be relegated to a Perk and should never be rewarded for something they never directly impacted, nor be rewarded for a Survivor doing a simple action.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3421134#Comment_3421134
See, the problem with what you're stating is that you're stating this to a Killer main and not a Survivor main.
But literally no one enters the locker without some kind of reasons that involve killers? are you sure you know what you are talking about?
I don't even think it needs to be basekit as this perk is nothing more than QoL too? don't think it shouldn't be basekit neither though.

@DY86 said:
Ive said this before but, the game is balanced around this set FOV.
Some killers such GhostFace and Myers would benefit tremendously from wider FOV, as they could stalk so much more that It would require rebalancing their kit probably. ( and they aren’t even top tier killers)
But most importantly wider FOV on survivors would make chases/mindgames much easier (just watch old videos of survivors with stretched resolution).
Also, maybe DBD engine could not properly run with such wider fov. I remember CoD MW 2019 they didn’t add fov sliders cause It would make older gen consoles crash, and cause inconsistent frame rate as well
Just do it and "monitor carefully" just like when they wrecked everything ever existed.
It's not hard, maybe impactful and maybe not but ultimately I doubt it to change that much.
-
We should be able to select whether "aim dressing" takes effect or not, so we can actually check if it matters.

I never said people should be allowed to DC with no penalty, also calling my opinion (which I'm pretty sure you misunderstood) invalid because you think DBD is a competitive game out of all things is silly.
Also, removing hook suicide isn't "objectively" anything for the game. Even if you think no one should under any circumstance leave the game, what makes you think stopping them from doing so will make them play the game? They're not going to turn into useful teammates, they'll either throw the game on purpose to get it over with, go afk or maybe become one of those who hide in the basement for 20 minutes. People who don't care about the penalties are already DCing left and right, a good chunk of the ones who'll stay will probably go out of their way to make the game miserable for everyone involved. I'd rather have a short game I know I'll probably lose / win than playing with people who are actively trying to make it unfun for the rest of us.
"hook suicide should exist" is literally same as saying "every survivors should be allowed to DC freely", there is no difference between two beside one is abusable mechanics which can be used to circumvent certain mechanics/penalty for some reason.

I would seriously argue your numbers. Especially because some killers have multiple BNP-grade addons
Does it matter whether some killers have multiple or not? it's not like you can bring 3 or 4, all it matters is have it or don't have it.
-
Let's shorten it up to 2 minutes, problem solved yay
-
Hell, 70% of killers doesn't even have "broken addon", and one of the strongest addons are on-par for BNP at best.
-
And I don't even get what's "trivial" in hiding in locker too, realistically speaking there is basically no way killers can find someone on the locker, it's extremely strong and impactful, how can you say that is "trivial"?
-
@Annso_x said:

Right... people can't play against one or two killers out of 31 of them (and counting) but they shouldn't play a game they like at all because it'll inconvenience you to have a teammate leave once every 100 games bc of a phobia or whatever. Isn't that just you trying to make others suffer just bc of your own issue :) ?
Also I'm pretty sure your first DC penalty (per day) is 1 minute. It's literally shorter than finding the killer and sacrificing yourself, so if anything, people who kill themselves on hook exceptionnally are buying their team more time than would DCing. Add the penalty to hook suicide and that's a whole lot of people who would insta DC instead of at least waiting to be on hook to leave the game.
Have you ever saw a player that says "I can't play against specific character so I should be able to DC freely when I saw it" in any competitive games? that's ridiculous and extremely pitiful excuse in a multiplayer game, so yeah your opinion is literally just invalid, accessibility is what dev has to work on, but not with stupid band-aid like this.
Doesn't matter how long the first penalty is, it will lack up, it DO have consequence when people repeatedly do it, timer for the duration reset is obscure and not exactly short after all.
An, unlike hook suicide which is extremely outdated and abusable mechanics, DC timer can be easily increased when all those "waste of que" type players become a problem, so yeah no matter what you say removing it IS objectively good for the game.
-
Lol, who the heck gonna go into the locker when killer didn't exists? what is "unearned" when sole purpose of lockers are to hide auras, evade killer powers and hide from killer's eye?
Do you even know what lockers meant to do? is it there just to mess around with? I'm pretty sure that's not the case.

a pity escape added so survivors won’t hold the game hostage and just hide*
Which fabulously failed as survivors now just hide at two rather than one, lol.
Have a hatch or not, one people or two people, those kind of people DO hide, and then there is literally no way killers can find them.

In theory, yes. But if one tries to play survivor couple of times, he'll get the reason. Being constantly harassed, camped and tunneled almost every time is not very "enjoyable" (and I remind everybody, DbD is not a job, it's what people spend their free time on). God witness, how many times I subdued urge to DC when played survivor. Oh my...
Unless there are no other ways to venting off (and give a chance to the last survivor find hatch), I don't think suicides should go anywhere. Or if BM of killer players would be punishable too.
I'm sorry, playing the game is not a BM in any sense at all, and I must remind you that DBD is not a job and you can freely STOP PLAYING , rather than screwing anyone else's game for your own issue.
Anyone who suicide/dc on slightest thing is literally a game breaking issue, and DBD will be healthier without those kind of people.
Hatch escapes aren't even objective, it's literal pity escape, there is no need for consistency.

There's basically no way to implement an automated system to account for things that you don't like happening to you. Should instead consider just not caring about pipping. Especially since they've made it so that grades are no longer important aside from a very small BP bonus when reset occurs.
I doubt detecting DC is hard at all.
-
@EvilSerje said:
If there are no hook suicides, then just DCs. Think it's better?
Did you know it's "better" as in people actually DO get penalized and if problem is STILL there we can easily increase timers?
So yeah, having a penalty is certainly better than not having one, which is already proven to be true when DC penalty has been removed in the past.
-
Literally none and it's just illogical when DC penalty exists, I get it when this game doesn't have DC penalty, but when it does?
The only reason I can think of, is just maybe BHVR want to give survivors rights to freely DC (even though this is clearly shouldn't be a thing) while penalizing killers for doing so, all while hiding that, because otherwise they would just add penalty only for killers from the beginning.
-
@Annso_x said:
People leaving the game early absolutely screw the rest over, but I mean if you take out the "self-sacrifice" option (even if just for the first phase), a bunch of survivos are just going to insta DC and not even wait to be downed to do it.
Also, it's worth noting that some survivors are doing it with a reason and not just because they feel like screwing ppl over, for example people who can't play against certain killers because of phobia (Clown comes to mind), or a disability (I never kill myself or DC but I'm pretty much deadweight against Dredge, Wraith and more generally when a killer / map screws with vision too much).
And even without acknowledging some people have valid reasons for wanting out of a game, you can't really justify forcing people to keep playing when they don't want to. I just wish bots would replace DCs & early hook suicides.
So, people actually gets the punishment and there will be less "waste"(as in those players aren't meant to play the game, but rather screw others) in ques, which means DC penalties actually DO work unlike what we have now?
People who can't play the game out shouldn't queue up for a game from the beginning, feel free to ask the devs to fix it, but I seriously doubt peeps are allowed to make others suffer just because of their issue.
There is no "valid reason" for leaving the game at all, because if that is a reason why it should be allowed, dc penalty wouldn't be there.

I know that i can do things to avoid it. Just feels cheap because i feel like the perk should puish survivors that try to hide next to a gen, but i wasn't remotly close or aware that the killer kicked a gen. It's more in my head that feels unfair.
But yeah, i would bring distortion. But i prefer to use distortion with friends so i can atleast call out the killer's aura abilities and not feel so selfish. That is my prefered way to use distortion, calling out the killer's perks to my friends so we can play better.
In solo sometimes feels like a perk to promote tunneling or camping for the rest of the team
if killers find you with pitiful range and duration of nowhere to hide, more or less you ARE close to the gen.
-
All things you listed is literally what perk is meant to do, there is pretty much nothing that can be considered broken in all those things.
It's not like you will lose the game because of sloppy, if sloppy is working THAT good, the game is already lost.

I would agree that hook suicides should be removed, but only if survivors are given more information to consent to the match that they're about to go into, such as knowing what killer they have in their lobby.
I know that everyone is going to jump on me for that statement, but here is an example: I cannot play against Clown. Getting hit with his bottles gives me severe motion sickness and can have real-world physical detriment to me. If I am shown that the killer in my lobby is a Clown before the match, then I can leave and queue again and no one suffers. If I am not shown that info and get into a match with Clown, I have only three options, all of which suck: push through sickness, hook suicide, or DC. The best of these options for me is hook suicide. If hook suicide is removed, then I am down to two options: get physically ill or suffer from loss of item/offering, lose BP, de-pip, and get a queue penalty. In other words, I am stuck between two awful options for no other reason than the killer's choice to play as Clown and the game preventing me from consenting to play against that character.
Are all survivors that hook suicide doing so for legit reasons? Definitely not. But you can't remove the option without affecting the people that do.
Accessibility is an issue, but I don't really see it related to hook suicide at all.
Ultimately, "if you can't play out the game for 100% of time, you shouldn't match up at all no matter what" is the basic rules of online game, it's not like your reasoning is "legit" for throwing the game and ruining everyone else.
Also do note with that change survivors will be able to always counter any killer by perk choices, we need to remove the capability to change loadout in lobby too.

the gen kick perks are bad on their own OC and COB together still get a decent chunk of a gen
yeah decent chunk of... 10%? across 60 seconds?
And none beside MAYBE surge really related to 3 gen at all, I suspect this to be skill issue.

If killer somehow managed to find second survivor in that extremely survivor favoring situation, he deserves to get a kill too I guess?
Is there any reasons last survivor that failed at hiding should be able to escape through hatches?
Or, you could just make it so third hooked survivors automatically gets sacrificed once last survivor is on chase, if you somehow REALLY want to keep that.

You didn't use exactly good example. It just means you are tilted because of your team and decide it's not worth your time. Yeah, so there is no reason to have DC penalty at all with your logic. You are basically one of reasons why there is a DC penalty.
Better example would be last two survivors alive, one on hook kill himself so other have chance for hatch. That's valid.
If killer is camping, just wait it out, otherwise just rescue him until one is on death hook.
There is no necessity for hook suicide at all, it's not like hiding is difficult or anything at that point of the game too, killers don't really have much of perks to find survivors except that locker perk which is inconsistent.
-
Survivors weren't "impossible" without self healing tbh, it's just that you need to properly coordinate even in solo now.
