  • I wouldn't want ds buffed, I don't think it's good design that people have to rely on a perk to avoid getting tunneled out

+ a lot of time it was just psychological, killers wouldn't tunnel because "what if he has ds". Horrible concept

I'd rather see some structural change (yes, basekit buffs)

  • The few people defending her and trying to convince others she's not that bad are mindblowingly the few people who enjoy playing her, shocking 🤯

I've wasted enough words already on this disgusting killer, wish bhvr would just nerf her to the point where she's unplayable, since e they obviously can't out right delete her. I don't care with who I'm playing, as of now she's just an insta go next

  • Excuse me, but did you really get looped in sanctum of wrath like that? I was expecting some map that actually has well connected loops, not sanctum. Sorry but that's on you, especially the part where the survivor ran through main, considering it's probably the unsafest main in the whole game, and at it's sides there's a dead zone and zoning is really easy in that map

  • @Peanits said:

No. The kill switch is only used in cases where something is not working as designed. More specifically, when something either breaks the game or is bugged in a way that gives the person using it an unfair advantage. We do not disable perks just because they have changes coming their way.

Ok can you please give an explanation on why spirit and merciless storm hadn't been killswitched, despite them both giving an insane advantage to the user while they were broken?

  • SM (insta go next), and second place was Knight, Trickster and Artist together (roll eyes and get on with the game without pretending it's engaging in any way whatsoever).

After next week's patch Trickster will jump to first with SM, the rest will stay there as they are.

  • When they announced the ptb my trickster rating went down from "eyeroll, it's trickster" to "ok time to go next" (on par with SM)

How are these updates supposed to change my opinion on him? It's still going to be an insta go next killer

  • They didn't killswitch actually broken stuff like spirit or merciless storm, why would they disable something that is working as intended kek

Pallet stuns are handled a little differently from window vaults, and you're more likely to have your hit rejected at a pallet if your connection is poor. When a hit happens at a pallet, both the stun and the hit are timestamped and sent to the server. The server then looks at the timestamps to figure out exactly which happened first to account for latency. If the hit happened first, the Survivor takes damage. If the stun happened first, then the Killer should not have been able to attack and the hit is rejected.

Windows are a bit more grey, though. It's possible to hit a Survivor through a window, and there isn't a stun to say whether the hit was objectively wrong, so it's not as easy to draw a line and say, "This one was valid, but this other one was not." There is a distance check in place, but again, because the Killer always sees themselves closer to the Survivor and the Survivor always sees themselves further away, we have to be a little lenient otherwise a lot of legitimate hits would be unfairly rejected.

    "A little lenient"

  • You're not the only ones. I hate this event, and I mostly play map offerings after a while, both as survivor and killer (by map offerings I just mean azarov and McMillan)

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I get the idea, but it does not really work. No Killer should be denied access to certain Perks. It is ok if some Perks just dont work on Killers or are bad on Killers, but outright denying access is wrong.

This COULD have worked when they would have designed the whole game in mind with this. E.g. the Killer has a Power Level and each Perk has a Power Level as well. And then lets say a Killer like Trapper is Power Level 1 and can use Perks with Power-Level 1-3 while Nurse is a Killer with Power Level 3 and can only use Perks which are Power Level 1 or 2. And Lethal Pursuer is a Power Level 3-Perks.

This would have worked. In theory. In reality, the Devs did not really know how strong Killers would be, at least back then. (You can see this with the old difficulty ratings. A highly complex Killer like Billy was considered Easy, while Wraith was intermediate)

The solution with Perks being too strong on certain Characters is not to make the Perks unable to use, but to nerf the Killers in a meaningful way. They failed to do so with Nurse multiple times and did not even attempt with Blight. And with Killers this strong, you would probably remove a ton of Perks from them. Better to adjust the Killer properly.

Man you have no idea how much I'd love them to rework the whole perk/items/addon system into something where everything costs a certain amount of points and you have a total set of available points to spend when equipping stuff

This would also allow stronger perks to exist without the need to nerf them -> full meta load outs would be impossible, if the system was well designed.

  • I love these threads. They appear periodically and it always goes like this: on one side, people that really believe this will ever be fixed (soon™), on the other, blight players full on copium saying it's a feature, or that bhvr is considering turning it into such

It's a bug, we all know it. It won't get fixed, so learn to play around it, it's probably the least important of blight's problems

My take (rant incoming): the DbD community sucks. How weak of a mindset does one have to have that something immediately becomes "unfun" if they have to think and try to win? It's a community-wide mentality. I swear most DbD players have never competed in anything in their lives. You're a bad sport if you think it's ok to face weaker players and win all the time without really trying. I don't choke out white belts in BJJ, because that's a crappy thing to do.

I straight up think most content creators are lying when they say DbD is unfun when matchmaking is strict. It's the same game at its core. Unless people's nerve endings are really so fried that standing next to a hook for 30 seconds sometimes is just too long and non-negotiable. Maybe I'm a boomer and time is relative.

To be clear, this isn't directed at Scott or anyone in particular. I think the DbD community is mostly weak-minded when it comes to competition. There is nothing wrong with being casual and chill about the game. But you need to be ok with losing to people who take it seriously if that's the case. The DbD community wants to have their cake and eat it too.

    Three things:

    • Having more fun against worst players because you play nice is understandable but not applicable as a MMR rule because you can't make all killers play nice all the time.
    • Saying you're not getting good games anymore because you don't 4K every game so you should be matched against weaker players sounds very entitled, survivors aren't bots for you to stomp, even if you're playing nice.
    • Content creators facing opponents closer to their skill level is a very good thing because baby killers shouldn't think getting a 4K 19 times out of 20 games is the norm.

I don't really have much to add but I wholeheartedly agree with these statements

That being said, I played killer most of the weekend, and didn't really notice that much of a difference in my matches

Sloppy is easier to apply and more consistent. It also works better than Gift of Pain, when playing hit and run.

From my experience there aren't all that many killers that use Sloppy at the moment. I've seen it on Oni (which makes sense), Doctor (could use both, honestly) and Wraith (makes sense too). But most other killers seem to not be all that keen in incentivising survivors to stay injured at the moment. Maybe that's just me though.

There's quite a few killers actually that use it, it's good on sadako, dredge, spirit, Larry and s*ull m*rchant

sadly I've also seen it on stbfl demos, nemesis and weskers who don't know what m2 is

  • 0:5:5

I'd rather never touch this game again than play a single solo q match

  • It is not, and neither is on nemesis

Players who use it just m1 and can't effectively use their power other than to zone. Like, just learn the killer otherwise you're just playing trapperless Evan.

It gives easy games against people who can't play against an m1 killer, a free escape for everyone else

  • I'm sure the devs are doing their best whilst examining this challenging data to make the most fitting and significant decision for this nuanced issue. Let's grant them all the time they require /s

    GoJ is getting already nerfed.

Eyrie. Filled with deadzones. Strong palets are on top of main and in shack. Rest is either filler or rng based Gyms. 13 palets on average with the vast maroity being mediocre is not exactly a lot. Far from littered.

Badham has 2 in main, 1 in shack and 2 in houses. I would not call this "littered" aswell.

"New" Garden of Joy is literally unchanged from what we currently have lmfao

I think there's a distinct difference between an actual failed design, and a killer that just isn't popular.

Singularity and Artist, for example, are some of the best designed powers in the game (so long as we whistle and look the other way regarding Artist's forced-to-leave-loop nonsense, anyway), and they're also not very popular. That's because they're complex and macro-focused powers that are both hard to learn and don't apply in a simple, "you are in chase so you press the button" way. That doesn't, in my view, make them failures.

Complex killers are, typically, unpopular. That's okay, though, the game has enough killers that it can handle having some that serve a more niche audience- everyone else already has their darlings and will continue to get more, after all.

While I agree with the general message, I'm gonna disagree entirely on your stance about artist's power being one of the best destined, but that's ok

  • He wasn't, people just see the word nerf and think they "killed" the killer. Just like every god tier /s nurse and spirits that suddenly disappeared once the few ways to cheese with those killers were gone (and yet they're still S tiers)

Xeno is still really strong, basically a nemesis that starts in tier 2 already

  • A ranked mode would imply the survivors knowing beforehand what killer they're going to go against

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

People using something in the game is not abusing something.

This + also wow another us vs them thread I can do it too:

Remember when spirit was bugged and bhvr refused to kill switch her because they had just released a new skin for her? (Officially because "it wasn't game breaking" xd) and suddenly her pickrate skyrocketed, surely because people wanted to play that skin obviously

Or again when merciless storm was bugged and literally everyone was using it?

    Those are actual abuses.

When iri head was announced to be nerfed, or when spirits addon went through an addon pass, everyone started using them. And people kept using Eruption cob oc until the very end too. That is *not* abuse. Same for mft being used until it works like this

  • None of these are reported official changes, just like deadlock being bugged for ages

  • The solution is showing in end game who is in party with who. So killers who regularly get stomped will finally see that they don't get stomped only by 4 man sweat squads but also by 4 solo survivors, but then they will kinda find something else to blame for their loss as usual

  • She's still an instant go next for me, and luckily for my friends too. So there's not even a debate about it

Bhvr just failed with this killer, and failed with the rework (please don't do the same mistake with trickster)

  • Wraith still cannot pick up survivors while cloaked

  • Original ruin undying tinkerer? XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Hell no

  • @C3Tooth said:

UW isnt strong because its still up for killer to get a down

  • @OrangeBear said:

Nurse is not as easy as auto-pilot.

Well bruh I can agree until I see perks like Nowhere to hide or floods of rage. That's really just autopilot

  • If I might recommend something for xeno (since I've been enjoying and playing him a lot), take out pop for bamboozle and the emergency helmet for Lambert's star map (this one is a personal preference honestly, because turrets will trigger only while you're in lunge range to destroy them)

Bam + self destruct bolt synergize so well and ngl that's my favorite addon to use. Pop only wastes your time by having to kick the gen, so bam is a way better alternative for faster chases

Now idk how good you are with the tail, but use it use it use it as much as you can and try to get consistent with hitting it, it's going to make chases so short you won't feel the need to use pop

And well, it happens to lose games. These people brought some of the best stuff, it would've been kinda sad if they lost to a xeno

I hadn't, more like I forgot to add [...] after only, I just want to point out precisely at what part of the message I was replying, and saying "disagree with the survivors part" wouldn't really make it obvious

your entitled to your own opinion but as far killer player go. he is very unpopular killer and almost nobody has ever considered trickster to be a strong killer. Otz for example rates trickster as C-tier killer which is trending to be among weakest killer in the game. For the most part, I tend to agree. long chases from easy to use counter-play.

It's fine for a killer not to be strong, especially if they're extremely dull and too rewarding for the amount of effort taken.

Hasn't bhvr learned anything from Freddy?

is this sentence suppose to indirectly say that trickster takes no skill? The skill in looping(delaying) trickster is what I outlined. high-walls are your friend towards his slow throwing movement speed. use knives hits as a life resource to make distance. The further away you are from him, the more likely you are to find pieces of debris that block his line of sight. avoid low-wall loops. you can still use low-wall loops but only if you have made the trickster spend a lot of knives prior to going to a low loop with the objective that you empty his knives reserves. I am not saying you have to count his knives as he throws them in exact ratio but rough estimation is all you need.

all this will be easier for survivor with 8 knives and 10 second decay. these are same reasons to why he does not stack up against other ranged options. that is why I do not understand the logic behind weakening throwing mode when the killer already has not good 1vs1.

No, it's meant to say that the update will make an already extremely uninteractive killer to go against even easier to play, further lowering his skill floor (already not that high anyway). I didn't say it takes *no* skill, but it doesn't take *much* skill anyway

  • COB maybe got overly nerfed but if buffed again it should not work with other gen kick perks (ex not applied if pop or oc applied)

OC is fine because of the skillcheck, but I would rework it entirely: the skillcheck is not only "skill" dependant, but it is hardware dependant so much and man do I hate missing it because of a frame drop

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3575680#Comment_3575680

your not meant to loop killer for 5 gens. you have unrealistic expectation of counter-play to never go down to trickster. high-wall loops are effective strategy to delay downs from trickster. you only need hold-w against trickster enough to deny throwing angles. as long you do not get hit by 8 knives, the knives will decay. using knives as a health-resource for distance is how your suppose loop trickster.

Correction: you're not meant to loop an equally skilled killer for 5 gens

  • Most of these pointless discussions wouldn't even be happening if bhvr was able to design perks that weren't utterly broken to begin with

It was clear MFT would've been broken, it was clear CoH would've been broken, as it was clear Eruption would've been broken. Yet they released them as they were, when the whole concept of the perk shouldn't have left the design room at all to begin with.

Moving on, I wouldn't call UW broken but it's still very badly designed and yet they went through with the lingering effect anyway outshining every other location perk (+ the completely unnecessary secondary effect too). A common argument against MFT is "you need to earn the effect, all you do is get injured and have free haste" yet all you do for such a strong effect is open a locker? How is it earned?

    I'm definitely the second one

  • I would just like to know if Garden of Joy is going to get a size reduction too or just some layout changes

If they're removing some clutter and adjusting loops, the map will look pretty empty if they don't adjust the size too (considering it's pretty big anyway)

MFT is the 2nd most popular perk in the entire game.

Meanwhile, UW has already gotten weaker twice, and it’s STILL not in the top 3 for killer tracking perks. Even though we have so many people claiming “UW makes other tracking perks obsolete”, we STILL have at least 3 other killer tracking perks that are more popular than UW.

How did it get weaker twice ? Because it got bugfixed?

He has to land 16 knives to take you from healthy to dying and you still get a speed boost upon becoming injured. If you can't get yourself to safety before being hit by 16 knives, that was your own fault. Trickster has always excelled at open areas and low walls. Nothing has changed.

Exactly, he has always excelled at this so he doesn't need buffs that make it even more punishing (and tbh, absolutely uninteractive)

So just like any other killer with a power that hits over structures.

No one enjoys a mechanic where your power is effective based on rng.

Except that the other 2 projectile/ranged killers existing have a downtime that allows survivors to move away. He can just keep spamming one of his 3876324 knives

If I remember correctly, you are a Nurse-Main. And since you have something way more busted than MfT it would be quite strange to lose games because of MfT.

Jokes aside - the sad reality is - at least in this forum - that Killers have a "current thing" which is the reason why they lose games. I am pretty sure if those Killers would provide gameplay, people here can give constructive feedback on why they lost. But the people complaining about MfT dont want that. They want to vent because they lost a game and the "current thing" is MfT.

Once this is nerfed (and it will be nerfed, given BHVRs track record it will probably end up as a pretty useless perk), there will be another "current thing". And while you are clearly not part of the majority and claim that you lose games due to MfT or another "current thing" (which I honestly appreciate, I like reading your posts), sadly the majority will just complain instead of trying to improve.

I am, but I play a ton of M1s, mostly xeno, wraith and demo (+Wesker).

Discover the magic of the internet at Imgur, a community powered entertainment destination. Lift your spirits with funny jokes, trending memes, entertaining gifs, inspiring stories, viral videos, and so much more from users.

I got the screenshot because the Feng called me a camper (I didn't) and a slugger (maybe?) In my steam profile, anyway this was in eyrie, a map pretty bad for wraith, yet I won against 4 MFT+woo.

I also play survivor most of my times because I'm always in vc with friends, and none of us runs meta perks yet we escape a good share of our games.

Ultimately, while I agree many people here found in MFT their new excuse to why they lost, we can also say that MFT is the new DH: mostly useless in the hands of the average/casual survivor but it does make a ton of difference in the hands of better ones. And if I gotta be honest, while I don't have any problems with WoO per se, i do find it unreal how it's literally a "turn your brain off" combo if paired with MFT, even for the worst players who can't even learn pallet spawns

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

But what would be the reason then that those people who already lost a lot of games before MfT and think that MfT is now the reason they lose games... are still losing games?

But usually there are not really many big changes in Main Chapters. Would not expect really any Buffs or Nerfs, except for really minor things, when a new character is released.

I didn't lose a lot of games before MfT released, I still don't lose a lot of games. It still doesn't stop me from seeing how strong and unbalanced that perk is, by itself, not because it stacks with other haste effects
