That's the thing... they DID change her. They've changed a ton to mitigate the issues about her. People still bring up things that are now obsolete when complaining about her. You'll see people constantly talk about the hour long games where skull merchant would 3 gen for example. Not only is that iteration of skull merchant not in the game, but 3 genning itself has been changed.
They can change her power to be ANYTHING and you'll still have a slew of ppl who will ruin the match ASAP and curse people for playing her.
Saw this earlier and the first game showed an Ace who refused to play after getting downed from JUST M1 gameplay. The power itself had nothing to do with it.
A spook n'jukes video on any subject will automatically make me take the opposite side. Insufferable self righteous tool. If I found out I shared an opinion with him on anything I would have to rethink my viewpoint

How do you prove your opponents are SWF? Do you assume "I lost, must be a SWF"? The evidence is quite revealing if you think it is so common. Unskilled Killers are the laughing stock of Survivors regardless, just as unskilled Survivors are the laughing stock of Killers. Anyways, here is the official DBD infographic for SWF sizes.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/J7IRTIVX7HLA/dbdpartysize.png
~55% Solo, ~30% duo, ~10% trio, ~5% full 4-SWF.
'Can you explain winrate vs killrate' - Sure, when either side gets 3 (or more) results for them, their side 'wins' the match itself. 3K+ is a Killer win. 3E+ is a Survivor win. 2K+2E is a draw for the match. When you do the math with sets of 5 matches (with 12 kills and 8 escapes for the 60% killrate), you get a bunch of permutations/match results. On average, you get 22% Survivor winrate, 28% Draw rate, and 50% Killer win rate. If you split the draws evenly (even though it probably would be 40%S 60%K), you get +14% for each, or 36% Surv winrate, and 64% Killer winrate (so even doing the math in favor of the Killer's side still shows too high of winrate). If you discard draws, and only count times where one side clearly won the match, you get ~31% Survivor winrate, ~69% Killer winrate.
That math however is built upon every possible permutation being the same likelihood. If you take the most common real match result, (IME) mostly 3Ks, then you get 20% Survivor winrate, and 80% Killer winrate (with 1 4E, then 4 3Ks in a set of 5 matches). You can also use the most uncommon result being the most common, or 2K+2E (IME). If you use that subset, you get 4 draws and 1 4K for 0% Survivor winrate, 80% draw rate, and 20% Killer winrate. That's why I use the middle number of all possible permutations but skipping draws, since they nearly never happen (at least in my matches on both sides).
Technically Hatch escapes count as a null match, and I did a little bit of match accounting for Hatch later in the linked thread or post. I don't think it is relevant though, because it the Killer winrate is still far too high in comparison, and I've already made my point.
If the game had 100% winrate the game would die - Exactly, that's why Killer's shouldn't have such padded winrates. When one side, Survivor or Killer, has too much of a chance to win, the other side has no reason to play. I either get frustrated while playing impossible Survivor, or get frustrated because I win too easily with 0 gen regression as Killer. At this point, I think the game should be balanced around a 60% Killer winrate (discarding draws), not a 60% killrate. That would mean the killrate should be anywhere from 51-59%, but I'm not sure exactly where. SWF killrates is still within this safe margin, and soloq isn't.

Basekit BT was just a fantasy, but they slowly improve the game over time. Hopefully one day they make this improvement among many others.
The thing is basekit bt was very simple to implement. A ban list would cause so many problems with the matchmaking and such. And thats not even getting into the psychological effects. For example, if almost everyone bans a speciific killer then the people who bought that killer will get angry they cannot play as them. And that is just one very small example of the chaos it could cause.

If a Killer could have won by slugging, they would, and do it now. This wouldn't add a new avenue. Non-issue.
Soloq isn't required to cleanse any totems, because someone is dying anyways. Non-issue.
Killer queue times aren't meaningfully going to be affected. When you say this, it makes it sound like 1m queues will take 5m instead, but with some math and the ban limit I suggested, it would be 20% of Killers, so 1m/(1-0.2 for 0.8), and yield 1m queues being pushed to 1m15s for the worse average increase. Non-issue if it is only moving the needle by 15s. The only time this actually could be an issue is when the game is near dead, or on isolated servers, where only 20 people are playing at the same time (4 matches, 4 Killers, 16 Survivors). If one person really wants to play the 'Survivors would rather tear their eyes out than play against me' Killer, and it is currently banned by all 16 Survivor players (because the Killer is such a bad experience that even the 50% who normally don't use optional features end up banning that specific Killer), then yeah they probably shouldn't get a match, or Survivors get an option to play against a banned Killer for 100% BP incentive. If the Killer player played any of the incentive'd Killers, then they know they can get a match though.
Personal preference. I don't understand people who like strawberry ice cream over say cookie dough/cookies and cream. I like going against Ghosty and Legion, but people seem to hate being instadowned (because they weren't paying attention) or Mending (which you only need to do after 15/20s to ensure no chain stabs). To each their own.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3801781#Comment_3801781
We are talking about aggregate, where people working together should be praised, not punished. We are also talking about High MMR having even higher kill rates than the normal population once you adjust for the frequency of SWFs in matches ( only~5% of matches are 4xSWF in the first place). We are also talking about a killrate, not a winrate, as a 60% killrate yields an average ~69K/~31S winrate once draws are thrown out. That still yields a ~60% Killer winrate at 52% killrate if they scale in a linear fashion with the 15% bonus win from kill rate established (although to be fair, it probably isn't linear, and likely is quadratic IIRC the correct term).
Also it could still be scary with 100% escape rates if done right. Look at how many people play single-player horror games, and those are designed around a 100% 'win' rate.
This whole idea of having a "ban list" is just a fantasy. It could never actually work for obvious reasons.

Believe it or not a lot of maps are still survivor sided. Maps that are Survivor favored in my opinion; 4/5Badham, Prenn, Game, 2 MacMillan maps, Hawkins, Eyrie, 1 of the Yamaoka's, Nostromo…..
Maps that favor killer. Haddonfield & Rotten Fields.
I agree badham could be considered survivor sided, eyrie, garden of joy which you didnt even mention. Your other examples I don't really agree with especially the game, that map can be very killer sided depending on which killer and such.

That's a lie. That's actually what survivors do. We call killers weak because they are, because we've played many many matches with them. We've seen firsthand how they perform, not just secondhand. So we don't say anything funny.
Well i guess i want to know what your definition of weak is. No killer has under a 50% kill rate. So i am genuiely curious what do you think makes a "weak" killer.
-
The lowest the kill rate gets in highest mmr even among 4 person swfs is still only 50% at most. And to say most maps have near infinite loops is absurd. Maybe if you were playing 1 v. 1 against a new killer and didnt have to worry about teammates using resources you could last for awhile but still not near infinite.

This is absolutely not true at all. The Game, AKA Pallet Factory? Autohaven Wreckers?
Most maps are vastly survivor-sided. The only two that stand out as being overwhelmingly garbage for survivors are the new Haddonfield and Rotten Fields.
Its exactly the opposite. How can you possibly say most maps are survivor sided? If they were the kill rates would not be so ridiculousy high.

I'm surprised this isn't common sense.
No the kill rate does not mean "nothing." In an asymmetrical game like this the only way to even tell which killers are strong or weak is how they actually perform in game. Nurse is just one of the hardest killers to really master but if you were too take those few players who have mastered her she would have by far the highest kill-rate in the game. Most killers are not nearly that hard to master though. In skull merchants case she is probably one of the easiest to play so that makes the nerfs even more justified (not saying Bhvr. handled it well and the nerfs may actually be overkill, we'll have to wait and see.)

And thats a biggest question why? How this weak killer has huge killrate and became solo crusher. Hes passive slowdown one of the most easiest to avoid (if he doesnt have iri box addon) and his m2 anti loop much weaker version of Doctor.
I find it funny Killer mains always say a killer is "weak" just based on their personal feeling. In an assymetrical game like this the only way to tell if a character is strong or weak is how they actually perform in game.

Base Kit Kindred, no killer aura read: Like a lot a of ideas, I feel like it would need to be tested to be more certain, but here's my thoughts on how I think it would go:
Balance: It would be a huge gain to low and mid MMR, still somewhat helpful to soloq high MMR, and basically irrelevant to high MMR SWFs. So if you're only concern is balance, it seems like an obvious step.
—A interesting point on this, the people who should be pushing the most for base kit kindred are high MMR killer mains, because it would lower the overall kill rate in the lower MMR brackets, justifying more across the board killer buffs.
Theming: I have no idea how the overall community feels about this, but I suspect BHVR has data on it. If the game had always been this way, I doubt people would have a hard time imagining it otherwise. Right now, it would be pretty disconcerting to me to just have so much of the map where I know exactly where the other survivors are. I suspect I'd adjust overtime, but I think BHVR worries this would harm the theme too much.
Emotes: If both emotes and base kit kindred were on the table, I'd start with emotes and see how that worked out. If it didn't really fix things, then we revisit basekit kindred.
I agree about the base kit Kindred and I also think Woo should be basekit (with ability to turn it off if it annoys you.) I might not think this if Bhvr wasn't ruining every map to make it so there's almost nothing left to use to loop anyway. And for those saying "that takes skill out of the game" being a neet and having time to play 10000 hours so you can memorize every permutation of every map is not skill.
-
I think if they banned a lot of killers from it that might help, but that is also not likely to be a very popular solution.

From reading the forums lately I feel like OoO is becoming a very overrated perk. It's one of those perks that can be very useful once in awhile but it's just not worth taking because it can end up being a dead perk slot or even worse actively detrimental.

I'm not claiming I'm amazing at the game or something, I always figured I was in the middle of mmr somewhere. I just never noticed distortion users as such a big issue. I mean I definitely have useless teammates but most of the time they don't even have distortion. I mean it's possible I just haven't been paying attention I guess. Just seems to me that the heavy use of Distortion is more due to the ridiculous amount of aura perks in the game now. It's just strange that the mode in the game with less players has become the easy mode, and now they need even more wallhacks? I dunno I think if this update goes live as is it will end up causing more problems than it solves.

again mmr has nothing to do with it because once you reach a certain point you match with everyone. If you've played with quaddi even one time like you say you have than you're in the same mmr as me.
That's not entirely true. It will only match you with "everyone" if its taking too long to find people closer to your level because they prioritize speed of matchmaking.

I never said I was high mmr, my point has always been that mmr is a joke. You don't need to be high mmr to play with high mmr players. That is why I said he didn't know how mmr works and clearly you don't either. High mmr is something like only 2.5% of the player base and they need to match with people so they don't spend 30 minutes in a queue.
Okay but your 5 gen comment was just weird. I mean even for someone like Quaddi a 5 gen chase is rare but you talk about it like its something that happens all the time.

I was in a game with quaddi a while back too I don't assume that means I am as high mmr as them. 5 gen chases are extremely rare if the killer knows what they are doing at all.

I did never say I‘m in high mmr, but I said you aren‘t, because you don’t get killers who you can run for 5 gens in high mmr. People who come up with you are bad first, usually have no arguments. I‘m special, there is probably no one in the community with my opinion. Everything here are only opinions, wether something is right only depends on the perspective and how you see things.

I'm tired of needing to run Lightborn in every single match because of how prevalent Flashbangs are in higher elos. When someone knows the timing of them, there is absolutely nothing you as a killer can do to avoid being blinded besides slugging everyone.
I get being blinded while breaking a pallet. I get being blinded if I'm out in the open. Hell I've even seen some good plays where I didn't know one was dropped while I was chasing someone.
But I should not be blinded while facing a wall or after pulling someone out of a locker. Give the killer collision during the pickup animations, and decrease the FoV Flashbangs work at.
No. Survivors are getting screwed over enough. Suck it up, when the kill rates go down to 50% then maybe killers will have something to complain about.

Honestly Distortion has been a slap in the face of all players not running it themselves, you know what it means? it means the Killer will always target me instead of you cause all the aura perks they have will target me and I know damn well that while there might be some noble apples who use distortion and who take aggro, the rest of the distortion users are very much able to just let me get killed no questions asked.
The perk has to go.
Why do I not have this issue with all these "distortion rats". I exclusively play solo que and I have never noticed this as a big issue. Is this a low mmr thing or something?

Honestly im still surprised people are still complaining about Weave when its extremely easy to counter by getting your item into a corner of the map and the killer have to play without two perks (franklin + weave).
But bruh in SoloQ..
In SoloQ when i get into the item's range its not that hard to know where the item is, knowing is a 12m radius circle. I do the same with my mates items.
B-but thats something my teammates should do!!!
If they dont and you are paying for it, its your teammates problem, not the perk itself. I dont see anyone calling Devour Hope broken because "my teammates dont go cleanse totems!!!".
Frank n' weave is broken, I'm not explaining why again. It has been discussed on this forum many times. If you don't think so you are just wrong. Even Otz who tends to favor killers in his balance arguments says it needs a nerf. Bhvr obviously agrees as well as they do it have it on the roadmap (just dumb it's not until november.)

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798243#Comment_3798243
I'm not sure of any documented cases of bans for that exact reason if I'm honest.
Going on the basis for ultimate goal being survive... How exactly does hiding and avoiding gens until server end time means they survive? When server ends the survivors get sacrificed automatically, so hiding and not doing gens isn't accomplishing the goal of survival, it guarantees sacrifice in the longest way possible.
I guess my point is like where do you draw the line. Like yeah I mean if you hide that long that you actually die to the endgame that is absurd, but what if you hide for say, 10 minutes until the killer finds the other survivor and then you get hatch. It seems to me that, rather than being a reportable offense, it should really be on the devs to make some sort of mechanic to prevent everything from being dragged out so much.

I can provide evidence from the Devs that state it's reportable as it's holding game hostage if gens are not being worked on and survivors are hiding. The objective is the escape not survive until the end of time. Regardless if you agree with it or not, it's BHVR game so they make the rules. Don't like it? Don't play

But nerfing it like this is just awful. now its only use will be to partially counter the new aura reading zanshin tactics. Its gettin the calm spirit treatment.

a good chance of a stealth killer? where?? besides, you can tell when you are shown with ooo even if it's a stealth killer because you get faster progression. idk if it shows an icon at the bottom left of your perks or if its icon lights up.
In any match you have a chance of getting a stealth killer. And I know from personal experience trying object because everyone was saying its a counter to the frank n' weave that it is useless against stealh killers for the most part. I am not going to use a perk that has a very good chancs of being a dead perk slot.

- there are alternatives. you can run object to at least know what reveals your aura or shadow step or any chase perk to win your chases when the killer finds you.
I'm going to mention this in every thread where someone suggests ooo. Object is worthless because you have a good chance of getting a stealth killer.
And you must be one of those delusional killer mains if you think weave is c tier. I mean if even otz is saying it needs a nerf that says something.

Definitely makes me think it's a healthy change.
I have never run distortion and I agree with the OP. It is absolutely disgusting that they are nerfing distortion now but we have to wait until november for them to do something about weave attunement. Let's stop pretending Survivors have any option to hide at all. Then when we see what kill rates are with survivor auras visible at all times we can buff survivors to compensate. And for whoever said use OOO you do realize ooo is a completely useless perk right?

You could sit on the edge and wait it out with a key but at some point you will come across killers like me that will slug the 3rd survivor and still hunt you down for the 4k.... Or wait until server end time is up which you get automatically sacrificed anyway.
Soloq is awful, pretty brutal actually. But avoiding gens, not doing your objective will not only fail in the long run but it's also a reportable offence.
Can anyone give an example of a survivor being banned or warned or anything for supposedly "not doing objective" at the end of the game. The whole concept is absurd, the survivors ultimate objective IS TO SURVIVE. Everybody keeps saying hiding when theres only 2 survivors is a "reportable offense" but a mod in this forum at one point said it isn't so....
It's just rich that so many killers want to tunnel, slug, bleed out, and say I'm not responsible for your fun, but then according to them if the survivors don't essentially give themselves up to the killer that's a "reportable offense". Just doing the thing any new survivor would do intuitively is a " reortable offense." Absurd. I find it hard to believe that any survivor player has been or would be banned for trying to survive.

Interesting fantasy.
I wouldn't call it interesting. I'm just venting because solo queue sucks due to teammates who turn 4v1 into 3v1 first thing by either going "next" or simply not participating. That and console performance are the two things I complain about most on these forums: I don't expect to see improvement in either.
I just feel like all this talk of "punishing rage quitters" is not productive. Bhvr is hopefully actually working on ways to improve the game so people dont feel as compelled to "go next" every game. I hope that as they experiment with different game modes they will eventually figure out tweaks to incorporate into the base game to improve the fairness for all sides. The dbd community should be focused on positive goals like that rather than "punishing" which is a classic example of treating the symptom rather than the problem.

If Valve can work out a system to determine who goes into low priority queue then the same can be done here. If people can find the time for a 40 minute Dota 2 match then people can find 15 minutes for a match of dbd. We'd all be way better off if serial dc's and people who give up far too easily had their own matchmaking pool to play with.
Dota 2 is a comp game that is actually balanced. The delusion is real.

they should go play with others that have the exact same attitude
I would love if the queue worked like this. There are certain playstyles that make for miserable teammates. The people who "next" immediately? Put them together. The survivors who do nothing but crouch around and hide and never help the team? Put them together. Whether the players course correct or not, at least they won't be trashing solo queue with their behavior.
Interesting fantasy.

Half the issue is just basically an attitude problem. It isn't policing how people play, if they want to give up on the first chase and sacrifice themselves then they should go play with others that have the exact same attitude. Just hold a mirror to their face and they'll quickly course correct.
No they won't. Besides the point is moot because there is no way you can prove they weren't actually trying to Kobe.

These are totally non-related things tho. Survivors job is to find and repair generators, while killers job is to patrol them and kill the survivors, thats why killers see the generators aura, they are not supposed to "search" for them like the survivors.
Thats like if i say "why survivors jump over windows at a much faster speed than the killer but killer needs perks to vault at almost the same speed! Not fair, give killers the default survivor vaulting speed!!".
You are not supposed to see the "best looping path" by free.
Yes of course, Killers need every advantage while Survivors get none. It's also hilarious people are saying that Woo is only used by bad survivors, have you seen some of the streamers who use it? Just because you see the pallets and windows doesn't mean you can run it in an effective way. This insistence that "Survivors need to play thousands and thousands of hours to memorize the ever increasing maps (and also the ones that Bhvr keeps ruining) or they are bad, but yet of course Killers are entitled to see the aura of all generators, like there's not even any question about it" is asinine. Survivor is so much harder to play than Killer now; the balance needs to be going in the other direction, not nerfing one of the perks that actually makes Solo que playable a lot of the time. I literally stopped playing Killer because it is so easy now. Make woo basekit but give the option to turn it on or not. I know Killer mains will have an apocalyptic meltdown but they can't be taken seriously when they claim the game is Survivor sided while the target kill rate is 60% and even at the highest MMR over 50.

”Why do killers think the game is survivor sided?”
Because it is. You can eliminate every single persons argument in the fact that whatever survivors want to happen to the game does happen. If they complain that they are not being able to do generators without interruption, the game is changed to make it more so. Survivors ridiculously ask for the game to be tailored to the killer not doing anything that is favorable to the killer, but to play as favorably to the survivor as possible, and the game is changed in order to reflect that. That is why the game is survivor sided. The target kill rate is 60% but the game is Survivor sided? explain

Wow friend that sure is a whole lot of words you put into my mouth that I didn't say. Try rephrasing that and then discussing this with me again, perhaps with 95% less Us vs. Them? We really do not need that here. :)
These were your actual words:
" I don't think that is bad. The people who still care about the core horror feel of the game will stay, while everyone just interested in wins will leave and go play something else."
Sorry but I'm not going to stop playing the game, I'm going to keep playing it and keep advocating for Bhvr to balance the game a little better. "Us vs. Them" shaming is just a ploy to manipulate someone you disagree with into shutting up.

Honestly I'd love if they implemented a low-priority queue system like what Dota 2 has. I guarantee EVERYONE here that such a system will make soloqueue 50% more tolerable.
You guys are so delusional. If Bhvr started trying to police this game to make sure people are trying hard enough to win it would literally kill the game lol.

I think that just means the game is no longer for those Survivor players. That happens, sometimes a game changes and it's not for you anymore. I don't think that is bad. The people who still care about the core horror feel of the game will stay, while everyone just interested in wins will leave and go play something else. That can really only be healthy for the game if people who don't enjoy it stop playing and ruining it for others, right?
So in an online pvp game, only one side should care about wins and the other side should just be okay with losing in the name of "Horror"? Hate to break it you but dbd hasn't been a horror game in a long time. Sometimes I feel like a lot Killer mains want the challenge of a pve game, but the ego gratification of knowing they beat a real person at the same time. This is probably the most hilarious permutation of this sentiment I have seen though. "All the survivors should stop playing unless they don't care about winning in an online pvp game."

Windows of Opportunity should really be made basekit. It helps lower the difference between Swf and solo-que, and just being a neet and having thousands of hours to memorize every possible map permutation does not equal skill. Why can Killers see aura of generators basekit but Survivors need a perk to see windows and pallets, which are essentially the ONLY resource survivors have to escape the Killer in chase?

I'm so glad people are finally realizing the game is killer sided at every level. For so long everyone just stated as a fact the game is survivor sided because it was that way years ago.
