As much as I'd love to quit from a game that was just ######### in general, this is just entitlement. Instead of waiting 4 minutes and maybe going on your phone, you decide there should be an alternative to something that's harmless. This would also lead to people bleeding out at their first down.

Wow wanting to have fun playing a video game such entitlement shame on me

  • It's incredibly rare and time searching a chest means time not working on a generator. 3 genning is a lazy strategy that is honestly too rewarding for how little skill it requires, especially in solo queue.

  • Ok then how about we make NOED more conditional. If a game has lasted more than 7 minutes, NOED doesn't activate because survivors clearly didn't genrush. Sounds good?

well you JUST said it was the issue after saying it is not. and using a VPN introduces even more lag because it take a long time to get to the dedicated server but the server only sees the FINAL connection not everyone in between due to the effects of the VPN. I did not say that there was not an issue, nor that there was not ANY sembelance of a resolution. but the server is just a glorified connector, it is not the one running the game itself, how ever the logs of the game are still going through it and can be looked at for what happens. unlike MMO's where the issue in PVE you only deal with client to server issues but these issues even affect PVP in MMO's as well as other MOBAs and even Battle Royale. depends on how things are done and What I am seeing here is that the servers are just connection servers the clients are still only on the player's side and that is why things are as they are and that is how I see it from the technical side.

Please show me where I said that? Almost everyone understands there will be lag. But getting hit from 20 meters away because a Chinese person wants to play on NA servers with no way of knowing is ridiculous. Hits should be server side to fix this because its ruining about 20% of my games at this point, and I can't even DC without getting a ban, nor do I even get a warning of the killers connection to the server, which is what matters.

  • Yep. Killers hate SWF but they don't understand solo is literally awful and the experience gets worse every patch. I think it's because they only play survivor when they're with their friends. In terms of Difficulty Solo<<<<<Killer= 2 Man SWF < 3 man SWF << 4 man SWF.

You do realize how assanine your statement is? the issues being discussed here are not easy to fix and there is little that can be done to fix latency what so ever? If you think they can apply a fix to make everyone not have latency you might just want to put down what you're smoking because even marajuana isn't that good thus it's definitely illegal in the US.

You both realize that "PING" can change from millisecond to millisecond? you do know that it can easily go from "60 ping" to "500ping" in the span of a millisecond and then right back to "60 ping" in the next and you'd never see it change because you could not see the changes and the display could not update that fast? Also PING is a term that is misused in this time, it does represent what ideas are there and even my statement above about it changing uses that "misuse" of the term.

PING is actually a command in all types of operating systems, IOS, MacOS, Windows, Linux, Unix etc. it causes the OS to send a set of packets out to a specific destination and then it is sent back. This returns a TIME (60ms, 150ms, 600ms, etc) which tells the user how "speedy" or "fast" their connection is, and if you would be experiencing major latency (or lag) or not. The higher the time (ms = milliseconds) the long it takes for something to reach you. YES we are talking fractions of a second. if you think you can experience this you are wrong, but that is how computers work. Now you and the killer both have a "PING" and if it is 60 at one moment on both ends it takes 60 ms for you to send to the server, 60 ms for your information to move to the killer, then 60 ms for it to return to the dedicated server and another 60ms to return to you resulting in a total of 240 ms passing. during that time, your game has updated the server, their game has updated the server, and at a low turn time as 120 ms (from system to server and then back with updates) it's not that bad but something may cause one leg of this overall journey to go from 60ms to 500ms or longer for a short period of time and this is where you see the most agregious effects and this is something that happens even without either person known or it could be because they started a download, or something else is taking priority over that information or it is intentionally done by doing one of the above or something else like lag switching was before dedicated servers.

That isn't the point. No one is asking for a cure for latency. The server should confirm hits instead of it being on the killer side. Today I played against a Chinese VPNer and I literally got hit after I hit the ground after jumping out of a window on Haddonfield. There's no counterplay to this and considering the ping indicator in lobby is useless I have to guess how much lag the killer has.

Hiding is probably the worst way to win games. It hurts your team and would probably cause you to lose more often. The more you hide and make the same two people take all the chases the more likely you are to lose. If all 4 people are taking chases it's very easy to win games. If a killer has to hook 4 people multiple times he has no shot. The way that teams lose is by taking people off the hooks and hiding the whole game. It leads to the same two people getting downed three times in a row and getting eliminated from the game. So I don't think that's the case.

People are saying that because they survive 80% of their games at red ranks they are good survivors, survivor is easy, or they understand balance. It doesn't take skill to hide and hold M1 while the killer tunnels the flashlight clicking Nea all game. Also, killer mains are usually the ones who only play survivor when they're in a SWF as opposed to playing solo, so they have an even more warped sense of balance. Just because the game is easy when your playing with 3 of your friends doesn't mean survivor is easy. I consider myself a very good survivor and I would say I survive less than half my games at red ranks on average, maybe about 30%. If you watch some of the top survivor streamers, you'll see they don't survive anywhere close to the 80% people on this forum are claiming.

  • The people who say they survive a majority of the time at red ranks are the same people running urban evasion and left behind LOL.

  • I think we should also talk about how these new maps will affect the top tier killers. Sure you can argue that for a Clown or Trapper these maps are more fair. But what about an enduring spirit fury Hillbilly that back revs and forces down pallets? He can remove almost every pallet in the first 2 minutes. What about a Spirit that spams her power against small loops, forcing survivors to guess every 5 seconds? God windows were one of the few reliable counters to spirit, as she could not vault during phase, but now there is a door next to almost every window. What about a Freddy that can force a pallet down just by placing 3 snares around a loop? Almost every killer in this game would need some serious nerfs, which I don't think anyone will enjoy, if these changes go through. Not to mention hit detection is still killer sided, so even if you make a correct guess at an extremely unsafe pallet you may still get hit, and being careful with your resources and trying to greed pallets will often give the killer a down. Not to mention there's entity blocker and bloodlust, so even if you are being very careful to not use pallets, the killer will be rewarded even if they're getting looped at an L-T wall because they aren't chasing well.

  • Also I think we should address the strongest kills that already are balanced against SWF. Nurse obviously won't matter much because chases rely on jukes. But what about an enduring spirit fury Hillbilly that forces pallets down and Back revs with instasaw? He can make the entire map a deadzone in two minutes. What about a spirit that spams her powers against small loops, forcing you to guess every 5 seconds? God Windows were one of the few reliable counters against spirit as she couldn't vault windows in phase, but now there is a door next to every window. Speaking of which, is entity blocker fair now? If a killer is preforming that badly at a jungle gym or L-T wall, should they get rewarded with a blocked window and bloodlust? What are we going to do about Freddy who can end loops just by pressing M2 around a pallet 3 times? If these map changes go through, many of these killers need some serious nerfs, which I don't think will be fun for either side. Not to mention hit detection is still killer sided, so even if you make a correct guess at an extremely unsafe pallet you may still get hit.

  • According to the devs killers missing a hit because of their own bad internet is a no no but cheating survivors out of health states is A-OK.

  • 4 perfect players should win against 1 perfect player

  • Don't forget about how killers are also the sole authority on whether a hit connects, so good luck using those pallets to their full potential as you get hit from 10 meters away.

    But heres the problem...

    1) Survivors are penalised for leaving someone on the hook. They lose points in altruism. Also less interactions with the killer. This means unlikely to pip if you just rush gens.

    2) People generally want to help. Nobody wants to leave someone on the hook as its not very fun.

    3) Ties in with point 1 but unhooking/evading are part of the game. Having the killer stood next to a hook and the rest holding M1 on gens is exposes a real flaw in the game design. Its not fun for anyone and can be boring game after game.

    4) If the person on the hook realizes they’re being camped sometimes they’ll just suicide.

    5) You can rush gens but you can’t rush gens and all 5 totems. Campers ALWAYS have NOED.

In short what you’re saying never works. You can rush gens but others wont. Because they’re probably playing solo. The solo on the hook doesnt want to be camped, they want a new game and a way out so they suicide. The other survivors want their pip.

Know who can defeat this? 4 man swf. They’re playing for the team, not themselves. So they agree to forgo points/pips to beat the camper. The one on the hook will wait the full 2 mins to make sure his buddies escape. If it comes to totems they can co-ordinate quickly.

Face it camp and NOED guarentees at least 2 kills normally. Likely 4 if the survivors feed the killer which they usually do. Its a way to stomp people that arent a 3-4 man team. Which is how killers want it. Easy way to win most games with zero effort.

    This guy gets it

  • Killer is not weak. At this point a majority of the cast can go toe to toe with SWF and dominate Solo survivors. I think the only killers at this point that are weak are killers like Clown and Leatherface. Even Legion and Wraith can dominate with the correct strategy and perks.

  • Dead Hard is a very well designed perk and most people who play both sides agree. It has a very high skill cap and is the hardest exhaustion perk to use, and you need a good understanding of killers powers, lunge ranges, object hitboxes, and at this point latency to use it successfully. Dead Hard is more of a tool than anything. If you consider Dead Hard overpowered, then you must also consider bamboozle and spirit fury over powered.

  • @finitethrills said:

Kill stats will never be accurate. All of us know how many, many 3 escape games turn into 4ks handed to the killer on a platter even with the gens done, because so many cannot simply walk out the door while one guy is left on a hook.

You do see an occasional afk killer pushing stuff the other direction, but there's far fewer of them than there are Survivors who would rather feed killers kills than leave 1 guy behind in egc.

Add in failed bully squads who all swoop in to flash the killer 3x before they realize they drew an actually skilled killer and they go 3 down right there in the space of 20 seconds.

Ok and by that logic there are games were killer gives the last person hatch, there are games where the killer gives up and hides in a corner, there are killers that defend the basement chest as leather face, there are killers that decide to farm. There will always be inaccuracies but as a whole the statistics show that killers are averaging more than 2k per game.

  • Hey killer mains you know how you are always complaining about SWF? Well guess what, when a solo survivor goes down to NOED, you're just making more sweaty SWF players who will get on discord and break your totems :)

  • Marth knows his experiment holds no weight anymore. Look how many times he did Killer Hardcore challenges but he hasn't attempted a single survivor hardcore challenge. Says alot....

  • Why are survivors punished for doing their job, trying to survive? Stun the killer, spirit fury. Break a hex totem, Haunted Grounds. Do all the Gens, NOED.

  • Flailing up and down= killer is camping

Holding it until almost completing escape attempt= pls save me I'm about to go into struggle

  • Ranking up is literally a punishment in this game. You get sweatier unfun games. Killer meta= slug, camp, and tunnel. Survivor meta= hold m1 on gens every second you aren't being chased. Forget about making any fun plays like going for flashlight saves.

It's the killers fault that the survivor runs for the completely safe loop? Right. . .

Arguable the most skilled thing kill can learn is time management. Learning who to chase and where is the difference between a a good killer and a great killer. I have seen many 4ks on Iron Works as a survivor because the killer knew not to chase people through the God window. If a person just humps the God window all game, they aren't doing Gens except maybe the one that spawns in the Iron Works. It's better to go catch someone in a bad position rather than chase through a strong loop. Also people seem to forget that Iron Works is a LONG loop. If I'm running an exhaustion perk I can maybe squeeze two loops out of it running the right way because of how long it is. Iron Works is strong when survivors know how to string it together with pallets and other structures, which takes skill.

I have never seen or heard from someone calling the shack an infinite.

Sure there are some killer that can combat god loops, but what about killers like legion or Leatherface?

Nothing that you listed was a direct counter to god loops except maybe bamboozle and certain killer powers.

Then again why is the killer supposed to run a certain perk to combat bad map design?

It's like saying survivors are supposed to use Spine Chill and Resilience to not get hit through windows.

There are plenty of people on this forum that have called killer shack and infinite and pallet looping an exploit. Orion, the "king" is an example. They should focus on reworking killers like Leatherface and Legion because more than half the cast can use their power to stop the ironworks window. Instead, killers like Spirit and Hillbilly that already have a huge advantage are now easier to play. Also, survivors have to run perks to counter maps and killers as well. If you spawn on Hawkins or Lery's against a stealth killer you need Spine chill, if you're playing against a good spirit you NEED iron will. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect killers to have to anticipate the map they will spawn on as well.

This is what I'm really happy about, it actually makes the window remain useful, but now it's more situational and obviously not as uninteractive and braindead as it is at the moment. It just makes it a tile that actually offers gameplay besides holding W and pressing spacebar from time to time. 👍️

Funny because killer gameplay is becoming holding w and pressing m1 from time to time

Just like God loops needed a nerf as well after all that time.

Yes because there wasn't enough counterplay between entity blocker, bloodlust, learning when to drop a chase, mindgames, bamboozle, and maybe USING YOUR POWER. There are killers who unironically believe that killer shack is an infinite as well and maybe they should not be leading the balance discussion.

Well they had to make up for the pandering survivors got with ruin nurse spirit a worse breakable wall location instant deathslinger perk nerf etc..

If you truly believe that Nurse and Spirit didn't need a rework I invite you to get past rank 12 as a survivor and learn to play the other side :)

  • Ok cool let's rework maps to reward killers that don't understand how to effectively use their power or know when to abandon chases. Maps should have relatively stronger and relatively weaker locations. Especially when windows like that are often near the basement. But I guess let's pander to the vocal killer mains on this forurm. The funny thing is map like Hawkins and Lery's are FAR more killer sided than Iron Works is survivor sided (Didn't even make top three) yet we don't hear anything about those being reworked. I especially love the new pallets on maps like saloon where the killer can "mindgame" by strafing back and forth and get a hit in three seconds.

  • If I go against a killer that is clearly a baby, yes I will stick around and give them a kill. I've seen other survivors do it too although its rarer than giving hatch.

  • Yes. It's called facecamping/securing your kill. Hatch= 1 escape. Facecamp= 1 kill.

So I noticed they removed the ability to hit survivors on hook, but they can still be hit while being removed. This to me seems to be removing a 'bad manners' behavior from killers hands. So in fairness something needs to be done about tea bagging. A streamer mentioned an idea I like, which is a survivor has a chance to trip while teabagging. The way to implement this is to activate a percent chance after the first crouch within 1 second; increasing with each subsequent crouch after the previous within 1 second. This way if someone is getting cocky and doing a 'bad manners' behavior, they are punished for it. You can't remove crouching as its a part of gameplay, but I think something like this could at least lower the frequency of it.

Ok so if the killer shakes their head up and down they should have a chance to get a crick in the neck and be stunned for 10 seconds. Sound fair?

I think it is great news previously exclusive cosmetics are now available to everyone. I have been playing this game for over a year. I have some things that are not readily available to others. However, I cannot think of a single reason why I wouldn't want others to have it.

So many people are flipping out that others may have things they have. Their cosmetics are not being taken away, nothing is being lost, other than the feeling of superiority for having "exclusive" cosmetics. How selfish are those who feel this way?

Honestly this argument is stupid. There a reason why people who get into Harvard don't go to community college. There's a reason people spend thousands on sports cars when they can take a bus. Theres a reason why people wait in line to get in a club. Exclusivity is valued by humans, like it or not. And unless you are a complete socialist, I'm sure there are some exclusive things in your life that you don't share with others.

In terms of expensiveness, if you're talking about what some of these things go for on eBay, it's out of control, and I absolutely don't think it's out of line for Behaviour to want to tamp down on that. At best, the secondhand market is preying on extremely artificial rarity, and at worst, people are getting scammed in ways that Behaviour can't control. If you're looking at this from a dollars-and-cents perspective, I think you are on the wrong side of it, because I think it is absolutely in Behaviour's interests to put a stop to it.

Respect to Behaviour for ripping off this band-aid, though. In the long term, this was the right choice, and it probably should have come sooner.

...But they didn't. The only thing they did was make MOST exclusives worthless. Hype Nea, legacy accounts, and Bloodletting are still being sold for exorbitant amounts of money. If they consistently got rid of every exclusive I would not care. They only thing they did is make my specific exclusives worthless while making the remaining ones much more expensive. And that's not even considering that they are still making new exclusives for fog whisperers and giving out twitch shirts. If their values where "No exclusives" they would distribute these to everyone. If anything they made this game more elitist.

I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but I have learned over my life that these kinds of attachments are meaningless.

I've got plenty of exclusive skins, items, and so on from conventions, preorders, and so on, for many games. These aren't achievements. Going "looky what I have" to other players isn't gratifying. I mean, maybe it is to some players, but this ultimately amounts to what I would call a lopsided value system. Also, other players having the thing doesn't prevent you from continuing to enjoy the thing.

For example, I have the Big Battle Bear mount in World of Warcraft, which was a rare WoW TCG exclusive. If it were given to all players tomorrow, I wouldn't care. I don't understand why people would care. I still have it and can still use it. Maybe if I had paid $700 or whatever it goes for on eBay, I'd be mad, but the anger would absolutely be at myself for having made such a poor decision.

Good for you! You sound like a real swell lad. Thanks for the input. Unfortunately some people enjoy having exclusive things so you can stop speaking for everyone.

Ok great now I have a bunch of cosmetics that will be the new equivalent of Zoey Meg and Dwearder. Thanks. I never bought a single code, but I received one as a gift and another because I won a contest.

  • @Eleghost said:

why would you receive something? Either you have the memories and enjoyment of going to the conventions for the cosmetics or you wasted money to buy the cosmetics and are upset with them now being free.

Yeah why should he. In fact we should make every character P3. How about we slap legacy on everyone too. Also, how about instead of entering trials, survivors and the killers just play a poker game for 10 minutes and then the words "escape" or "merciless killer" appear on screen after. Let's just get rid of blood points altogether. You can use whatever items and perks you want. Not that it would matter because it's just a poker game.

Charms are a whole other conversation. They're small enough to not even be really noticeable, and there are going to very quickly be so many of them that they lose all meaning.

Also, who cares what rarity exclusives are? They're "exclusives" rarity, the rarity is just a color on your personal game UI. It doesn't mean anything.

Ok and most exclusives are not that noticeable either. Most of them are recolors of default skins. They should do something to acknowledge people who earned them and had them before. Yes the rarity is just the UI. But as cheesy as it sounds I like seeing the cosmetics I earned in the game and that's why I keep playing. Also it seems like a majority of people offering opinions on exclusives don't even own any. If you don't own an exclusive I wouldn't expect you to understand.

  • Like it or not, our culture values exclusivity. That's why people join clubs, apply to exclusive colleges, try out for sports teams, by expensive cars & clothes ect. Theres nothing wrong with wanting something we earned to be exclusive.

  • @Rydog said:

You want them to give exclusives to exclusive owners to make up for making exclusives non-exclusive?

Do you understand why that would be very counterintuitive?

They JUST released a fog whisperers charm. They clearly don't mind making new exclusives. At the very VERY least exclusives should be artifact rarity.

If they truly made it a clean slate and gave everyone everything, I would not be upset. I'm upset that earning a hound huntress means nothing but a Diatech Nea that most people bought for $50 is more exclusive.

It is a straw man. Saying DBD has gotten worse only because events aren't as interesting at the current moment while ignoring all of the changes that have made the game much better over the years (pallet vacuuming, balance, hooks respawning, etc) is dumb. The game is better than it used to be, he's just not happy with events. Doesn't mean DBD is going downhill, that's just a straw man as many positive things have been done with much more value.

That literally is not a straw man. A straw man is when you misrepresent an opponent's argument in a debate. A straw man would be you saying "I prefer old cosmetics" and someone saying "Oh so you think new cosmetics suck". What you describe is him disagreeing with you, which you feel is unjustified based on certain evidence. Not a straw man.
