Then stop complaining and just go to sleep? Or stop playing for the dau? If it's that bothering you then take a break??

    It's not difficult???

This is obviously a joke thread, hope they don't delete this, cause its gold :D This probably falls under parody law, what is always acceptable.

if your opinion is that someone else's opinion doesn't matter because they are a popular streamer of said game then yes I'd say I don't care for it. You have every right to say it but anyone else also has every right to criticize it, it is after all an open forum you are allowed to agree or disagree with anyone you see fit but you can also be called an idiot for doing so. Also streamers are just players as well but they are players with a platform and often very dedicated players who have a very high amount of hours and generally(not always) have a better understanding of the game.

The reason many people parrot streamers such as Scott, Tru3, or Otz is because they are streamers that present their arguments for the points they make in a succinct fashion after which many people may come over to their side or may have already agreed with them on. Also I'm sure nobody fully agrees with everything one streamer says, I agree with Scott on many aspects however I also disagree with him on showing who is in a swf in the lobby, personally I think that would create a very unfun experience for anybody who'd want to play swf with lobby dodging or players who are very likely extremely confident that even though its a swf they will still demolish them.

Another reason people are more likely to use a streamer clip is because frankly most of them are good speakers and typing down what you want to say in a clear way can be very difficult for people especially if they just cant quite find the right words to express their opinion where as they just saw a clip or video of someone doing just that in an easy to digest video format.

Should anybody hold streamers opinion as gospel no obviously not but its certainly no crime to just link a clip and say that "this clip sums up my feelings on the topic very well" nor should it even be looked down upon.

Well, he did not like the, from his point of view negative influx of that opinion on the forum, since he is trying to combat that. And of course a streamer gives a lot of influence. Which sets this place on fire. I'd say let it burn, i will go collect the ashes afterwards. Maybe there is a phoenix under it.

Well, you have a healthy attitude about it at least. That's good. I'd hate to put all that time into something only to have it taken away (which is one of the reasons why I do understand the initial frustration that people feel) but if you went in fully prepared to accept losing it all then you went about it the right way.

The sad thing is, there are genuinely outfit combinations that look SO GOOD, way better than what we can achieve right now without it. Some of the best outfits in the game in my opinion are glitched ones. I wouldn't mind spending just as much time again to regain them. Well guess diversity is gone, so much about their LGBTQ+ statements and rainbow logo. :D Just a little joke with a grain of salt.

Lets hope that the outcry of people gets BHVR to make less sets in the future.

Also i earned some knowledge and techniques about it and am way faster than most with it. When i do decide to change something in the future i will be able to do so again. There could be some applications, maybe for custom games or who knows what the future brings.

Well sure i am at square 1 with my outfits now. I did spent so much time in different games, earning something just to loose it, thats just how it is sometimes. Loss is part of life. And now i don't have the high risk, needing to worry about switching the wrong part of my character and breaking the glitch. Or having the wrong character selected when doing it just to get this once reset. I am basically at the same point as everyone else. Well with some nice outfits to glare at. :D Until i decide to play that character at least.

My advice would be to never invest significant time, effort, or certainly money on anything that's based around a glitch, since that glitch can always get patched out at any time. But as I've been saying no one's listened to me today anyway. :P

    @miketheratguy

You know, some people would maybe say that their advise would be don't waste your time trying to change peoples opinions on the forums, since people never change. I don't believe that, but you certainly invest a lot into trying to get people to consider more possibilities or see it from a different point of view as well. What do you get in return for that ? Its kind of the same thing as doing the cosmetics glitch, its effort and to a certain degree we get some enjoyment out of it. Was it worth it in the End ? Maybe, i certainly think i did the right thing.

I enjoy the journey and don't mind investing so much in something temporary. Also the gamble was fine too, if they would have continued their course of just fixing the glitch and not resetting it i would have had complete custom characters no one else has. I am completely fine with it and i did the right thing for myself. Others may say i am crazy for investing so much but no it was the right thing to do for me.

    @miketheratguy

No it was the right course of action for me, i was fine with buying the sets, glitching them, and also pushing characters to prestige 3 just to glitch them. I had fun and felt accomplished as i finished it. And i knew very well what could happen. I was aware of the risk and even though it was very exhausting and aggravating it was worth it. Its not very nice that i had no chance to play with the rare combinations i created but so be it.

  • @Zucker_Schock @miketheratguy

Just as a side note, it took me days to get some of the things i had, but since i know everything is temporary what can i do. I tried some things at the patch day and got to the result that it is still possible to play with glitched sets. Its only a little inconvenient, but still possible. I guess that it still is enough for BHVR to call it a day. They probably aren't fixing the 3 other glitches or issues there are as well. Some people can still play with their glitched outfits 24/7 without issue, only a little step to do. But thats pretty rare anyway.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2301753#Comment_2301753

This is a fair observation. I've actually spent a great deal of time trying to explain this issue today, to at least help others see things from a perspective other than victimization and entitlement (referring not to any specific individual but rather the dominant tone regarding this whole subject). I've made probably two dozen comments across at least five different threads, all filled with people who are, with varying degrees of outrage, insisting that the removal of this glitch was unfair to them and symbolic of BHVR's alleged apathy towards its customers.

I've tried to encourage people to see things from the company's side. I've tried listing legal reasons why this would be in the company's best interest. I've tried pointing out that none of us are employees of the company and therefore have no factual ground upon which to make accusations. I've tried explaining my own face to face interactions with upper level management of other game publishers and developers who expressed to me in no uncertain terms why they had to make the same type of decisions about the same type of issue. I've tried arguing the simple common sense that if a company does something that the players don't like and could very well cost the company money, the company probably had a very good reason for doing it. I have spent hours doing this not because I have absolutely anything at all to gain from it but because I would like people to have more than one limited and entirely subjective assessment of the situation.

No one cares. I've seen less than ten people over the last 24 hours who tried to do anything similar and discuss this subject with anything resembling objectivity. Everyone else just wants their glitch and is angry that they don't have it anymore. And it is for that reason that I'm exasperated seeing yet another thread on the subject, this one regarding the opinion of a streamer who, by nature of their celebrity status here, is just going to further complicate the discussion.

    @miketheratguy

Very reasonable, i see this side of the issue as well. I was also not very upset even though i had glitched all of the cosmetics there are. Except Jane at the time. Of course i don't like my predicament of having maybe 16 glitched outfits that took a lot of time to create, sometimes doing multiple things to combine multiple sets on one character, not many people had that kind of patience. Now needing to erase them myself, it kind of strips me of the uniqueness i created with it. But i was aware it could all be gone when they do decide to do something like they did.

I expected them to patch out the glitches though, and even though i knew there was THIS kind of solution (checks and resets) i didn't expect them to take it since it is pretty drastic.

I am no hypocrite, i also made my point against BHVR in this situation, even though i did understand what lies beneath the surface. Its 2 parts of the same medal like with most things, opposite points can both be true. In everything lies a grain of truth. Its often not the issue at hand that sparks the outrage of the community but underlying issues.

I do enjoy having a profound discussion with you though. Not many people speak on this kind of level, even though english is not my native tongue i believe i can express myself pretty good and don't know why not more people engage in high level conversation.

Of course BHVR has the legislative, people dont have to support their course of action though. In games its often a little like a totalitarian government, they can do whatever the hell they want to do, ban players for no reason given. Create new rules or punishments for a violation of rules. Change major parts of the system without consequences. It depends on the community and the reaction of it, to have a little power over what they decide to do in the future.

Thats probably also a reason why some people are so loud with their oppinions, they want to have a little power.

  • @miketheratguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2301700#Comment_2301700

It doesn't matter whether someone complained. That's not the litmus test in determining whether something should remain in the game. BHVR didn't want it in and that's their prerogative. They don't owe anybody an explanation yet they still provided one, and now people still complain. People also assume that they know the inner workings of the company, what's right for said company, and why the company made the decision that they did (hint: because they're inept, evil, worthless, hate the players, prefer to ignore important things for lesser ones, etc).

To recap, what exactly is this happening? The company took away something that was quite obviously not an intended feature to begin with and the players are reacting negatively not because they have any intimate knowledge of the company's inner workings but because they're angry that they can no longer exploit the game to give themselves something that they weren't meant to have.

Of course BHVR has the legislative, people dont have to support their course of action though. No, I didn't. I made an exasperated observation. I've found that few people who have made threads or comments in favor of retaining the cosmetic glitch are engaging in a "reasonable discussion".

You know how it is, there will always be those kind of people. Be the change you want to see around you. Every little action has its consequences and can help for a slight change in general behaviour of the community.

  • Yeah agreed, i often saw every player in the game rushing to save the ttv, guess what, its easy to kill them all when you can guess their course of action. I also had all kind of absurd insults thrown at me, i disabled chat with time, the real use cases of chat are very low. Basically i dont give a F anymore about all these things. Go ahead talk bad about me behind my back, if people are blindly believing you they are just as bad as you are.

I don't recall saying that people can't agree with or share an opinion.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2301657#Comment_2301657

I made the comment that I did because I've explained the cosmetic issue half a dozen times today (in short it was a bug, no one is entitled to it, BVHR has every right to eliminate it for any reason they choose, and there are probably more complex reasons for their decision than simply "we want to take things away from our players") yet now that streamers - players seen as some kind of authority on all things related to this game - are complaining, the misplaced sense of victimization is going to gain that much more traction.

In other words, it would be really nice if this community could actually have a reasonable discussion without seeking the perceived expertise of a streamer to determine the direction of the narrative.

To be fair, you also didnt start a "reasonable discussion" with your first post. Did you ? It was more of a confrontational direction instead of a explaination of your oppinion.

  • Yeah, you have killers like "THE BUTTER" Blight which needs to have all objects in the entire game on every map memorized in order to know which he simply slides off and which he can bounce off of. To bad we cant learn that the way it is right now.

  • @ble3kaudio said:

+1 I'm pretty annoyed they took away the 'cosmetic' glitch. What is the justification for this? It did nothing but bring enjoyment to the player base and even increase sales. This is the type of ######### that makes me want to play something else and not spend any money.

There are many reasons, for example they dont want to appease their players, they want to appease possible partners and companys.

They dont care about us more as our role as money givers that keep the engine running, they only care about money. They dont even care about their own game anymore, "just do the bare minimum, enough to get by, that will be fine".

The game needs to keep running and have enough players to work. So only if a very large amount of players is very dissatisfied and leaves, something is done about a issue the players are having themselfs.

Other games that are popular and have a similarly sized playerbase do easily 10 times the work BHVR does for their game. They even stated at the start of development they removed crunch. Basically they only work as much as they want and dont take overtime.

Its also because they simple dont care what the right course of action is or what consequences follow a change. Its pretty simple for them, if its a bug it has to go since we did not intend it to be like that.

  • It was better as you at least got rewarded for infecting Survivors. But they had to remove the important things in this patch right ? Like getting extra points for that. Could have removed the entire score event of infecting survivors entirely, since you reach max Deviousness anyway, wasted points.

  • For me, this single thing, made Nemesis interesting. I dont see, why you can not do the thing that is right, instead of the one that was intended at the start, the word "bug" is a negative word, lets just call it a happy accident like Bob Ross used to say. You dont have to fix things that arent broken, only because you wanted them to work differently at the start. Work with the flow, if things are good, keep them, if things are bad, change them.

  • Get ready for this to be deleted soon, mods ban everything that has to do with bans.

  • @Venzhas said:

Dont get your hopes up too high. They implemented checks around every corner. There is probably no way to get around them normally, from within the game. So guess we are done.

You are probably one of the only people that can do the glitch this easily and consistently and also while being in the lobby. Abuse the hell out of it xD you have a rare privilege xD

  • Damn it, why did they have to do it like that, could have at least let us keep our outfits but fix the glitch. Now i cant play some characters since i dont want them to get reset.

  • I don't think you have much to worry about.

    Um, it's kinda complicated

So, I bought Leon's RE4 outfit minus the head

So when I'm in lobby, I switch to that outfit and since it's supposed to be linked, it automatically gives me the head despite me not actually having it, when it does this, I click out of the customization menu so that the head will go back to default and then I open it again and switch into Chris's outfit, either only the shirt or the pants, and that's the result.

I dunno if this works the same way for anyone else or not or if there's an alternative way either but,,

Thanks for telling us, seems like this methode is only possible for people who bought Jills and Leons separate sets pieces before they were sets than right ?

    1. Every killer power awards Deviousness for using their power.
    2. "The first one to have a unique bloodpoint event." can you elaborate?
    3. If they only changed the category, shouldn't he still gain over 32k then?

    @Milo

1.Every killer power awards Deviousness for using their power.

Well some killer powers also award Brutality for example and he does get Deviousness for his power, its only the "Contaminate Survivor" score event that was different, because it was Objective instead of Deviousness. He was easily able to reach max Deviousness without the score event.

2."The first one to have a unique bloodpoint event." can you elaborate?

Every other killer only has the 4 category's Brutality, Deviousness, Hunter, Sacrifice and is bound by the limits of these. Nemesis would have been the first to have another secret category which is extra from all of these. And this one score event was the first of its kind, to give extra points which aren't bound be the 4 category's and thus break the 32k cap.

If they only changed the category, shouldn't he still gain over 32k then?

Nope, the maximum you can get in every point category is 8k so if you reach max points in all 4 category's, you will get 32k. Because his special score event was another category he could earn them on top of that. Making him a killer that gave players with enough skill, to reach those numbers the ability to earn more in exchange for a higher challenge.

  • He would have been the first farming killer dbd has, because of his unique point event he had the biggest bloodpoint maximum. And it was justified since he isnt very strong and the point boost is not very high.

  • It takes so long to activate, that you are faster, when you use your regular knifes to attack a survivor and it also has a stun cooldown.

Its only useful in niche szenarios, rest of the time it is a disadvantage to regular knifes. Just activating it makes you loose time. And in the rare cases it is useful, it is not up.

You can use it maybe once every match if you are lucky without gaining much from it. I dont know why they made it only activatable in a short timeframe, they should make it always activatable as it stands right now or buff it to make it useable instantly without charge time animation.

They could, yes, but then you'd only have access after you've downloaded and installed the update.

Its is basically exactly the same way right now. Dont forget that the dlc is immediately online once the update drops, since you can play it fully as soon as the update is online. Its only steam that is behind, just buy everything with auric cells or shards and you can play it an hour early.

  • @Orion said:

But it would be disadvantageous compared to how they're doing it.

The cause of this is also how steam manages uploads or not ? I mean the steam store page can be prepared in advance, if everything would immediately be online once they are done, they could release the dlc at the same time as the update.

  • Exactly, as far as i know it had something to do with the licenses, since the Nightmare on Elmstreet chapter wasnt ment to be released on other platforms when it was released.

I had pretty chill games on killer - outside of some killers I had no playtime on/perform abhorrently with, I was getting fairly average matches. On the weak side compared to usual, but not potatoes. Some stronger teams, but none of the red rank SWF total annihilation I'm used to. Though I took the opportunity to do some adepts, and I did notice that I'd get stronger teams after winning and easier teams after a 4E.

As a survivor, though, yeah. Every game was rainbow teammates, reds with greys basically every match, and it was a dice roll whether the killer was rank 2 or rank 19. No happy medium, just extremes in two directions. Relieved that's over; I wanted off Mr. Bones' Wild Ride.

Nice reference 👍. Guess death is not an escape though. This is but a momentary respite, we will have to suffer more in the future.

Exactly. As much I hate certain things on that list, I don't get petty and throw a temper tantrum to report someone.

I had people threatened to report me for simply playing Wraith or running Mad Grit.

I can't tell if they're being serious or sarcastic.

I know people that report players every other game. Be it teammates who did stupid things or be it the Killer. Sometimes multiple people at once. I am against a automated system, we dont have enough people that would need to be banned in my opinion.

  • @SilentPill said:

Well, it will be impossible for people to coordinate reporting you with the in game system beyond the 4 you played with.

From what I understood it is that once you pass a certain threshold it’s forwarded to the devs for manual review. Hardly an auto ban.

From what i got from it, it is an automatic ban system not a automated report system. Its always bad to give something important like this into the hands of an automated system. For what we know a simple error could ban a huge amount of players. The thing is, they don't have enough personal/employees to review every case, thats why they want a automatic system.

  • @EngineerDispenser said:

As much I want to give Behavior and community some credibility and faith on their auto-ban system, I feel there needs to be a discussion on this particular topic. In the 5th Anniversary stream, there was mention about an auto-ban system and this raised a brow with my friends and I. I spoken with a few smaller content creators and they even agree it has some worrisome factors. A lot of us have been playing for years, heard this report accusation, and nothing ends up happening to us.

Yet, if we compare this to other big-titled games (like LoL or Overwatch), there has been known cases of players manipulating the game report system to get someone else in trouble. This can be in the form of twisting the facts to benefit the messenger, encouraging players to mass false report, or baiting a reaction to send a report. Alongside, depending on how the automation is handled, some toxic behavior can be slipped through the cracks because the program doesn't detect a specific phrase, word, or analogy. It can also be false red-flagged because the bot doesn't decipher the context of the situation. I can see Behavior's good intentions, but there needs to be oversight.

Now, why do I bring this particular issue up?

A few nights ago, I was playing around with the infamous Basement Bubba build and camping people in the basement. For context, I wasn't making any attempt to single-target people. If I got them in a different game and they ended up as a victim, then it was by pure coincidence. Whoever ended up in the basement first was the victim for the game. I was following the game rules addressed here by not_Queen:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

Back to the subject at hand, I ran into a particular SWF who got hostile and vile towards me for my play style. They all tried to rush save the victim, but ended up getting insidious chainsawed by Bubba. This made them incredibly upset and started harassing me in chat for playing basement bubba. I tried to clarify to the individuals this wasn't a reportable offense and it was a strategy. Yet, what was said afterwards made me a bit concerned...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Q67R2A2KYW2O/bubbaisreportable.png

(I cut down and censored the conversation to protect the privacy of other players and keep the topic at hand.)

This makes me gravely concerned for the auto-ban system. It's not the first time I've been threatened by this, but the growing mentality some players are getting is alarming and concerning. All because if someone doesn't like a specific play style the killer or survivor is doing, then they can tag a report onto the individual for x, y, or z reason. (I've been accused of being AFK, hate crime against another, toxic, etc. for simply running the build.) This can easily become an issue for killers, since we're in a 1v4 dynamic. If a full-SWF or a partial-SWF gets mad or upset at a killer's play style, then they can dog pile reports onto the killer. If enough reports meet the quota and the player gets suspended automatically by the bot without review, then the automation system is open season for abuse.

That's why I want to bring this up for attention before the system gets implemented soon. No matter what game this automation system has been implemented, people have been known to abuse the system. Unfortunately, this game (like many others) does have a block of players who will cry foul at anything and call the moderators in. This is a video game and people should be allowed to enjoy the game however they want, as long it's in the game's rules, even if the play style is something you may disagree with.

Maybe post this in the Feedback area of the forum ?

From what I understood it is that once you pass a certain threshold it’s forwarded to the devs for manual review. Hardly an auto ban.

Hackers are already able to give you unlimited disconnect penalty and other stuff, they should be able to send unlimited reports.

  • It can also be hard to assess how good a streamer really is since there are so many factors like how good the enemy is. And what build they play.

Depending on your speed, you will need a little time to get back on track if you only played one role for quite some time. Or took a long break. But i tend to be quite fast when switching.

  • You have to be very aware of everything and remember timings and speeds.

In my experience I feel like if I split my time between both roles (killer and survivor) I am never really that good at either, I'm just meh at both, but if I main survivor I feel like I become a much better player. It seems that way with content creators too like Otzdarva's survivor is not that great. Do you believe this to be the case or do you think splitting your time with each role makes you a better rounded player on both sides?

Quite the contrary, you have to have a good amount of experience in both roles to react perfect in every situation. You can only estimate how someone will react correctly when you have enough experience. You need to know exactly what the other role can do to play around that.

I am extremely good at both. But i also played since release and have enough dbd trivia in my head to write a book. With all the stats, timings, colliders/hitboxes, delays from the server, addons and perks. But often times i confuse the names of things.

But good god, if they would automatically check for IP changes on your account you would be screwed. Basically IP changes wouldnt help you anymore if they detect it and ddos the new one as soon as it changes.

Would mean, you sign into your xbox and your internet is gone.

Xbox needs to improve their security, a site that logs IP adresses like that shouldnt be possible.

They basically have a security breach.

Thankfully, it only ran for about 7 hours. It's ended now.

Doesn't not logging into my Xbox (where I play DBD) nullify the whole point of changing my IP?

If your IP changes, but xbox still has the old IP listed, than they would ddos the old IP adress, which isnt used anymore.

The thing is, maybe they will check in a certain time frame if you logged with a different IP but they will not sit there all the time and check it. So if they really hate you and let it run automatically for a long time, you only need to wait until they arent looking anymore until you log with a different IP.

You probably could use some kind of program on your PC which would automatically assign a new IP adress every 5 minutes or something. But thats a little advanced, you would need to specify your xbox with its local IP adress.

Also if the process takes to long you would loose connection.

  • Normally modern systems should have a dynamic IP adress, meaning your public IP changes all the time. Also with every router restart it should assign a new one. So pull the plug and see if it changed anything.

I think I have to call them and ask them to change my IP.

Unfortunately, the website I mentioned logs IP's from Xbox's own servers, so changing it gives me maybe a 12 hour period of peace.

It can only log, when your IP gets updated. So dont log into your xbox for a day maybe. The ddos would need to actively run for you to loose connection right ? They will not let it run forever.
