Congrats)
But I'm afraid teammate competence won't increase much there
-
I'm very much thanatophobic. Also somewhat acrophobic (heights) and arachnophobic (spiders, though only the big ones)
-
Trapper - Buff
-
I get that he's iconic and everything but I just can't see an original ability for him without ripping off F13. And he's very likely gonna be another M1.
I really would've prefer an original killer with a unique ability.
-
He was quite rare in my games even before overheat. After that I hardly see him at all.
I can only remember 1 Hillbilly recently and... he was AFK the entire game so that doesn't even count.
The point is that while he wasn't nerfed into the ground and didn't become unplayable he didn't recieve a single good thing (except for maybe a new chase music but that's not a big thing imo) and recieved a lot of bad things:
1) A stupid unnecessary cooldown.
2) Most addons became useless and the best ones are just mediocre like anti-overheat and steering. Engravings are still there but besides maybe top 5% players noone will be able to use them effectively but will still be stuck with a longer charge time and quicker overheating.

What is it with you guys
you play so sweaty (which is understandable) but when you don’t 4K the game is unbalanced
l just played against a rank 1 Freddy (we were all solo) he got a 3k one got out through the doors. It was a good game everyone said “gg”
then he goes on this rant about the game is unbalanced against killers.
so for red rank killers it’s 4k or bust?
Maybe the game wasn't fun for him. And if the door was opened he most likely didn't pip.
And if you were solo you can't guarantee that all 3 others were solo as well. 4 man solos are very rare on purple and red ranks, even rarer that 4 man SWFs.
Also you have to be sweaty to be a red rank killer. It is pretty much impossible to pip with killing less than 3 people and even if you do you might still get a black pip (or even depip but that's unlikely)

Why in the world do some people still care about pips? They've never been a good indicator of who won the match. You can have two literally identical matches with the exact same events and scores and time and outcome, etc, and the only difference is the ranks of the players in the match, but if you are high rank you lose a pip or don't gain a pip and if you are mid-rank you gain a pip. But obviously who "won" the matches in that case should be the same! They're an extremely inconsistent way to determine the winner of a match.
So pips are strictly for matchmaking purpose, and not even that once they eventually reintroduce the currently disabled new MMR system. I'll never understand the obsession some players have with pips and rank.
Simple really. If you pip you rank up. If you rank up you will face stronger opponents on average.
It really is the only objective indicator of success in the game. What else is there to care about if you play competitively?
Also killers that don't care about pips and don't sweat usually don't get to red ranks. With the exception of maybe top 5% players who can get there easily.
-
I have a lot of opinions. Some most likely are unpopular.
1) Pipping is the true win condition. Getting pips increases your rank which will match you against stronger players. That makes it the only objective measure of success as of right now.
However it will no longer be that once MMR is reintroduced as it will now define the matchmaking. So...
2) Once MMR will finally replace ranks (and I think it should) There needs to be some system besides emblems and pip.
Or at least show if you did well or poorly MMR-wisely. MMR is a good idea and I'm waiting for it to return but..
3) MMR should NOT be hidden. Your own MMR should be available to you and it will be a good thing to see others MMR after the trial.
If devs decide to keep it entirely hidden they at least should show a message after a trial like "MMR increased/decreased/remained the same".
One more thing about current pip/emblem system
4) 2k is currently not a good result for a killer. The simple truth is that it's pretty much impossible to pip with a 2k so it can not be a win. MMR might change that but for now killers usually need at least 3k to do well.
As the result from that...
5) Killer is usually harder than survivor. Simple really: survivors don't always need to escape to pip but killers always have to kill to pip. At least 3k is required on higher ranks.
A few more things:
6) The amount of hours played is the best indicator of skill as of right now. MMR should be tied to that.
7) SWF is an easy mode. And it screws both balance and matchmaking entirely. But it's also the least stressful and the most fun mode so it absolutely should not be removed or limited to a separate queue.
But...
8) Limiting SWF to three people would be healthy for the game balance-wise. (but it would hurt the playerbase so I'm not for it)
9) Voice chat is the only real way to close the gap betweem solo in SWF. And it should work the same as Discord - not depend on proximity and not be heard to killer at all. But it should be mutable of course.
10) NOED is the strongest killer perk
11) Small Game is one of the best survivor perks because it's an anti-NOED and anti-Hex in genera.l
12) Walls of text can be interesting to read))) (Though this one probably isn't 😄)
-
It's indifferent to me.
-
Yes, please!
-
It's not daily basis at least for me. Last time I faced a cheater was probably in 2018.
Maybe I'm just lucky or cheaters decided to show somw activity during crossplay.
What I mean is facing cheaters and hackers on PC is absolutely not the norm and happens quite rarely.
-
Spirits are frequent on higher ranks but Nurses and Billies? I rarely see them and instead see a ton of Huntresses and recently Bubbas.

I found the starting several days - messed up. The last two seemed to be more stable. Like you the ranks were all over the place but in the game did you feel the game play itself was still matching the ranks?
Was the killer you were playing the one you normally play?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1533724#Comment_1533724
Hmmm
Sorry I was option limited.
Was it this way before the MMR as well? Or previous to the MMR did you feel you had fair games?
It was kinda the same but not to the extent it went with MMR. With MMR there were killer matches where I've got legit rank 20s (I'm purple rank) but there were fun matches where survivors felt to be players of my level. Without it I hardly ever got yellow and brown ranks even when I was green.
As survivor I played all my matches with a friend as a 2-man SWF (I'm red rank and he's green rank) and one match we've got a rank 20 Clown and the next match we got a rank 5 Nurse who was pretty good. Other matches usually weren't that radically different but there were more matches where we got a pretty weak killer and I can say killers we faced felt somewhat weaker than before for the most part.
Overall when MMR worked - it worked pretty good, but when it didn't - the match was rank 20s against purple-red ranks with their skill clearly representing their ranks.
-
Sure, why not. I like having some stats and having them in a bad match might give you an insight of what did you do wrong.
-
I've seen ideas about ranked and unranked queues since 2017 and it's always been a not very idea for several reasons:
1) Queues will become longer if any kind of matchmanikg separation is implemented. It will hurt everyone but SWFs most of all - because if there is a strictly solo que many killers will hop there and stay there.
2) If an unranked queue will allow any ranks and allow SWFs then it's an easy way for toxic groups to bully some newbie killers. This might quickly make this queue an unfavourable one.
There are probably more reasons but these are what I can think of now. Basically if you separate the queues you'll likely get increased queue times and not much besides that.
-
Inconsistent - that's the most accurate word for MMR I can think of.
Sometimes it's really good, sometimes it's okay and sometimes it's terrible.
I'm on PC. Not sure what to vote for here.
-
Performance should be better - that's kind of the idea behind putting SSDs there and upgrading the hardware overall.
Though many bugs not related to performance might stay - it's up to devs to fix them. Lags are caused by servers and players internet connection quality - so they might be present as well.
-
It's a huge hit or miss and will probably be like this for a while.
My biggest problem with it is that you can't even see your own MMR and can't see if it increased or decreased during a match.
-
I'd love it to be a part of small game or another perk but not as a base feature.
Because NOED is a perk and having to equip a perk to counter it seems reasonable.
-
I think it will be Huntress
Not that she really needs it but she still has only 1 ultra rare and it's an addon that everyone's complaining about for 3 years already.
-
I'd love it to be an original character
-
My problem with 2 kill 2 escapes for killer is that the emblem system doesn't reward 2k at all. If 2 survivors escape it means that at least Gatekeeper and Devout emblems will be silver at best and on higher ranks it's a black pip or even a depip.
I know that ranks don't really matter with the new MMR but considering that it's entirely hidden and doesn't show in any way how well or poorly you did in a match then rank and pips kinda remain the only measure of success. And by this measure 2k is not a very good result.
-
I just treat rifts as something completely optional. If I have time and desire to play the game while it's open I'll do some challenges along the way, if not - it's not a big loss.
I'm going to go up in the free rift as far as I can by just playing but I'm not gonna spend extra time just to finish it. I'm not going to pay for premiun rift as well.
-
Just hook them. If someone doesn't want to play the game I'm not gonna force them to.
-
Almost every single game has been taken competitively in some form. Even purely PvE games have competitions (like speedrunning)
PvP games always come with an inherent competitive element and DbD is no exception.
Even though I consider DbD a casual game with a competitive element there are plenty of players who treat it as a pure competition.
I myself usually play a lot more competitively as killer. Because outside of competitive element the killer gameplay for the most part is doing circles around pallets which is very far from my idea of fun.
-
More like he stopped being (AS)S tier.
-
I think DS is really annoying on killer's side. Has always been.
Balance-wise it's fine on its own but OP with other 2nd chance perks like BT and Unbreakable.
I usually ignore the survivor that's recently been unhooked or slug them. Eating DS is usually a result of miscalculating the timing or just forgetting that this guy was recently unhooked.
-
I still think that DS should turn off if a killer downs another survivor. If a killer takes enough attention at another survivor to down them it's not tunneling.
-
NOED is not more of an "undeserved kill" than DS is an "undeserved escape" imo. NOED, Rancor, DS, Unbreakable are all second chance perks that you don't have to work for.
Removal of hatch will only decrease the last survivor's chances even further. I don't think that's a good thing.
I'm 100% ok with removing keys and moris though.
-
Rank 10 vs 14 isn't a big deal. Greens in my expeience aren't much stronger than yellows. The problem is that you'll start getting red ranks around rank 10-9.

Fix auras, Trapper is pointless because I cannot see where any of his traps are, I cannot see gens, make DS only work if In killers terror radius, brighten all the maps, do something about P3 Claudette’s, make it so survivors can not change character during pre-game lobby, Bubba was fine the way he was, not OP nor was he weak, his add-ons where the only problem, Pigs add-ons need buffing, let trapper start with all his traps but only be able to carry 3 after he’s placed them, fix gen speeds, they are a to lol too fast in my opinion, make gens slower to start off again after being kicked, I kick a gen with pop and they tap it and are able to gain progress again pretty quick, there’s a lot of problems with this game and that’s just a few to name
Doesn't DS always work inside of a killer terror radius as you need to be on top of a survivor to pick them up? I don't get it.
Also brightness can be increased on your monitor.
I agree about new auras and a most of other things you said.

No, I don't think devs will let players ruining people's fun. I did this to show devs how bad is camping and how is camper ruining this game
You overestimate the significance of your actions. There are currently more than 50000 players on Steam alone right now. If we take you and 4 survivors whose fun you ruin that's still less than 0,01% of players on a single platform. Actions that ruin fun of less than 0,01% people that are also not a bannable offense won't even be noticed.
-
You can facecamp every simgle survivor every single game but that won't make the devs introduce a stronger penatly for camping. You're just ruining other people's fun for nothing.
Also camping has never been the biggest problem in DBD. Infinites, permanent sabotage, unremovable NOED, 7-blink Nurse are just an example of something that was a bigger problem in 2016. Moris, keys and iridescent head are still a bigger problem then camping now.
And if you consider camping that much of a problem, then congratulations - you are now a part of that problem.
-
4 man SWFs

So, a temprorary Self-Care after a protection hit. I guess without "heal yourself twice as long" downside.
That's... actually a pretty good idea.

As a player on both platforms I'll tell you its false, there are boosted apes on both platforms and top notch players on both platforms , I will say hit boxes are more killer side on console that may be where the difference comes in is getting hit 10 ft away from a window to the point the killer has to take 3 or 4 steps just to pick you up
Makes sense. Thanks for the info

I am a rank 1 killer and survivor main lol...been playing since 2016 and I have never played killer on ormond. It's really not that hard to believe beings that ormond hasn't always been in the game. But I'll give you that it's been in the game long enough that I've should have gotten a killer game on ormond by now. Bs is what it is.
Ormond has been around for about 1,5 years already. You're telling that in 1,5 years you haven't gotten the map as a killer even once? Not once? Just how often did you play killer in the recent two years? Because I've been an on and off player during these years usually not playing even enough matches to get out of green ranks and I still can recall around like 20 matches on that map. If you have even less matches than me that would mean that you hardly played killer in these two years and you most likely currently aren't a very hiigh rank as a killer and are stomping brown-yellow ranks. Your comment about "claudette crouched in a corner" supports that as well.
That's the only conclusion that I can make from your words. You really need to give some videos or a link to a stream if you care to prove otherwise.
-
Maybe you're a dbd god but if you often see Claudettes hiding in a corner that probably means you're playing against noobs.
You say that you play on PS4 and I've seen people saying that console survivors are often easier than ones on PC. Can't confirm or deny that as I don't have a PS4.
Maybe you could record a few of your games so we could see if you're actually that good or just get noobs that often. Preferably games on purple or red ranks, as noobs on brown to green are very common. And with only purple and red rank survivors.
-
Huntress obviously. She still has only one ultra rare and is the most frequently picked killer (in my experience)
I wonder what kind of cooldown they will slap on her.
-
In my expeirence Neas, Davids and Lauries are often the toxic ones.
Lauries also tend to be more skilled, alongside Adams, Yuis and Aces.
Janes, Cheryls, Kates, Zarinas and Jeffs tend to be average in everything.
Dwights are often braindead and Jakes in my experience are even more so.
Nancy, Ash and Bill are usually either super good or on the contrary even worse than a rank 20 Dwight.
Also there are enough Megs, Claudettes and Fengs to fill all the categories and be on top of each single one. Quentins, Steves and Tapps are on the contrary too rare to judge.
-
Most popular one in my matches is defnitely Huntress. Only Pyramid head was more popular when he was newly released but not so much now.
The other popular ones are Wraith, Spirit and Bubba. Freddy, Doctor and surprisingly Legion aren't far behind.
The most unpopular ones are Demogorgon and Hag. Nurse, Clown, Oni, Pig, Plague and surprisingly Trapper aren't far behind.
-
DS and NOED would be better as basekit features.
-
It is kind of an exploit but not something that should be prohibited or punishable.
Devs should look at it and if they see it as a problem with it they should make it impossible.
-
I'll just say that I'd rather wait for a 5 min penalty than play against keys.
-
A lot of players, probably even the majority already treat DBD as competitve. The game is already quite toxic. It already has meta. What do you think DH, DS, BT is? Or BBQ, Pop, NOED? OoO is kind of meta in high rank teams too. Keys aren't meta simply because bringing a key is a high chance of getting a mori or just be lobby dodged.
It seems that a lot of your concerns are things that already happenned.
Queue times might suffer a bit but adding unranked will make them suffer much more.
-
Unless there is going to be a bloodhunt very soon, I see no point to do that. I'll already apend all the cakes by that time and level up most of my characters.
-
It's a bad addon and needs to be reworked, no argument here. I just hope they won't slap a cooldown on Huntress as well.
I'd do it like this - the addon lets Huntress throw 2 hatchets at once. One flies as normal and one is swayed a little bit to left with swaying going further as the hatches flies. Hitting a survivor with two hatchets is an instadown, with one is a normal hit. The attack should consume 2 hatchets at once and the downside should be reduced to -1 hatchet leaving you at 4 hatchets. If Huntress has only one hatchet left she throws it like normal.
Considering that the second hatchet will start swaying quickly it will be impossible to hit someone with both unless they are very close. There is also a possibility to hit 2 people at once but it will be unreliable but seems to me fun if it actually happens.
This looks like a good remake of Iridesent Head.
-
As someone who has a habit of looking through profiles I can say that almost every game there is at least a 2 man SWF. 4 man solos are just as rare as 4 man SWFs.
And ususally 2-3 man SWFs aren't notably harder than 4 man solos. But a full 4 man is a huge spike in difficulty. Unless they are potatoes or just meme around it's usually a loss for an average killer.
-
300 hours is often the time when you get good enough to understand just how bad you are at the game)))
Just play more, watch someone more experienced and you might improve.
-
Effectiveness wise:
Bill (BT, Unbreakable), David (Dead Hard) and Claudette (Self-Care, Empathy)
-
Last time I did that it was for a Rift challenge.
Playing with a flashlight can be fun but I prefer using medkits.
