  • Hawkins lab if to pick one. I just get unlucky way too often on that map as both killer and survivor.

As a survivor I generally don't like closed building maps as it sometimes is hard to find gens and often hard to find totems.

As a killer I'm also not a big fan of a of Swamp maps and Disturbed Ward.

  • Escaping a killer.

Basically any chase that didn't end in me being downed thanks to my efforts.

  • Not a griefing.

But if the killer wasn't camping and they knew it and still deliberately ignored you then it was kind of a jerk move. And the reasoning with toolboxes is total BS.

  • I've used Self-Care for a long time but recently stopped and began using a medkit instead. It's simply faster and more effective.

But I still use it if take a different item.

  • While I surely don't mind a server in Russia to reduce ping, you probably should understand something:

Not everyone in Russia and other CIS region countries even knows English. English is hardly used in Russia (outside of English classes or talking to English-speaking foreigners) so knowing English is really not a necessity in many Russian regions. You really can't expect everyone to know it. Very often using only Russian means that a person doesn't speak English. It has nothing to do with arrogance. Or especially Stalin. Seriously, what does he have to do with anything today?

Another example is someone like me who is Russian but speaks English. I often get into a lobby with both Russian and non-Russian people. So If I speak English I'm likely to not be understood by other Russians, if I speak Russian I'm likely to not be understood by non-Russians. So I usually only say something common like "gg" or reply in the language I'm spoken to.

Because I often play with various European I often see languages that I don't understand at all or understand only slightly: Polish, German, Spanish. Never had a problem with that. Why does anyone? If I can't understand what someone writes than it probably isn't something adressed to me anyway.

Toxicity-wise Russians are not any worse or better than others. Also as a Russian I face toxicity from Russia haters a lot more often than from other Russians.

The only true problem is the distance to servers and ping. I usually get 80-120 ping which I consider acceptable but there definitely are others with even worse pings. But it also works both ways. I as a survivor get hit through pallets, windows and stuff quite often as well.

So yeah, servers in Russia are a good idea but please stop with Russian hating already.

  • That's literally reverting NOED to what it was before with a reduced timer (it was always 2 minutes before)

I'm against it. I like taking Small Game and totem hunting to prevent it.

  • Wow, that program came a lot since when I used it. Back then it was just to show ping in lobbies and became useless to me once the feature was implemented in the game.

  • All Sorted: not a bad idea to know where is a totem for a particular perk but definitely not something I'd spend a perk slot on. In my opinion killers need a way to know where is which totem baseline but not from half across the map. What I think should be done is when a killer comes near a hex totem they need to be shown a highlight which totem it is, similarly to how a survivor can see if it is a brown or a purple medkit in a chest.

Wrong Choice: basically a perk to screw up remaining survivor if one escapes with a key. I like it! Even though it's super situational a counter to keys is always welcome in my book. One thing I'd add is "Endgame collapse starts immediately after a survivor escapes with a key". (not sure if it is already implied in your description)

Come to me: I'm divided on this one. If collapse starts after the gates are opened it's totally fine to force survivors to leave quickly and have dear consequences if they don't. But in 1 on 1 situation after a closed hatch it seems like overkill. I'd change the requierement to "after the gates are opened..."

    Good ideas anyway.

  • I agree 100%. This recharge mechanics is just annoying. It hardly changes Nurse's balance but makes you wait so much and so often that she becomes really annoying to play.

You better hold on tightly, or you gonna break a bone when you fall off your high horse. The OP did nothing wrong. And some thing can be penalized unjustly. The existence of a penalty isn't a justification in and of itself. Open a history book for plenty of examples.

Thanks for your concern, I'll do just that.

The point was that OP dc-d 5 seconds before he'd be out of the game anyway. Was there a point? I don't see one.

Also don't try to reverse my logic please. I said "DCs are bad - that's why they have a penalty", I've never said "Anything that has a penalty is bad." And are we seriously talking historical injustices in regards of a minor issue in a video game?

I'll admit that one thing which I said was wrong: there can one case of a justified DC - if you don't have any other way to exit the game. But DC-ing 5 seconds before you're out anyway is 100% not that case.

  • There is no such thing as a justified DC. DC's bad. period. That's why it has a penalty. In your case waiting a few more seconds of an animation would make no difference.

However 1 DC is of course a minor thing that's why the penaly in only 5 min. But what they did is enough to warrant a permanent ban. If possible record and report such behaviour.

  • You can use Whispers for these situations but for the most part if more than one survivor is simply hiding and doing nothing they will be difficult to find.

  • I'm not the most experienced player and maybe I haven't faced any godlike Spirits but honestly I have more trouble escaping Clowns and Doctors than her. I'm not saying that I escape her every time with ease but she doesn't feel that hard. Currently rank 2 on PC if that matters.

A few rules that I noted for myself:

    1. If I hear phasing I try to walk not to leave scratchmarks, usually to a side. It usually helps that she at least doesn't pop out on top of me. Doesn't work if injured but should with Iron will(I don't use it)
    2. When she's standing still I try to maintain or increase distance from her. Really, running towards her is the worst possible option. if she's faking she gets a hit, if she isn't she'll just follow you while phasing and your chances to get hit remain the same.

    Usually that's enough.

  • The point of these changes was to prevent one from taking the game hostage for an indefinitely lengthy amount of time, like 10+ minutes or even half an hour and longer.

Killers never had such options, besides bodyblockng someone in the corner but that's a bannable offence.

All that you've listed for killers has a hard limit on how long it takes with slugging being potentially the longest at three minutes. That's why it's allowed.

  • Hell no. Even if it is once per match. Please remember that any survivor perk can be used by 4 people at the same time. And a perk that strong will qiuckly become meta so meeting 2-4 of them in one game will quickly become common. And having to face some god pallet 2-5 times per match is a nightmare.

  • I answered a similar question in another tread today.

I'm ok with a player block if it comes with a hard limit on how much people you can block (10-15 max). it will allow to block a few hackers, toxic people or just some particular people you don't want to play with. But it should be nowhere near enough to allow people to cherrypick their opponents.

  • Try waiting for a second or two before hitting them. You might get a hit after they've already finished spinning.

It's not guaranteed but it's useful to do that against Dead Hards anyway.

  • The cooldown obviously is for balancing reasons.

It isn't realistic but realistically if a buffed guy like Trapper hits your bare back with a cleaver/machete there won't be much running for you ever again.

I think they simply didn't come up with fun animations for every killer that's why a lot of them do a similar "wipe the blood" one.

STBFL's idea originally was that you get a good bonus for as long as your obsession lives so you'd have an advantage for all game if you save the best one for last. Why a hit cooldown reduction in particular - don't know, never really cared.

  • @C3Tooth I play for fun too but checking profiles helps to give you expectations if the match wil be difficult for you or not.

It isn't fun to go brown addon Trapper against a full SWF with 1000+ hours and it isn't fun to go purple addon Spirit against a group of solos with 100-200 hours.

I'm at green ranks myself by the way and have similar problems and checking profiles sometimes helps to solve them. However in my experience 2x SWF with 2 solos is usually easier than 4x solos as they don't care much about each other and rush gens faster.

  • Because if you'd never lose an item you'd never need to grind for another one. And having 4x purple toolboxes every single game doesn't seem ok to me. Also what is the purpose of their brown to green versions at all.

The grind is also the same for both sides. You want good stuff on a character - you grind that character. If you don't grind that character you risk the chance to lack good stuff on that character in the future.

  • Do gens and leave. If you want to dissuade people from something make it unrewarding for them.

Also don't get butthurt and write negative comments after a game because quite likely that is exactly what a facecamping troll wants.

If it's a troll of course. If a killer catches someone in a late game with open gates camping is expected because a killer has very little chance to catch someone else at this point.

Also I'm curious how often do you meet actual facecampers, people who literally stand in your face next to a hook?

  • You kinda can do that already by opening their profiles and looking if they are in each other friends list.

I usually can do it in the 1 minute lobby time. It's rare that all 4 will have locked profiles and/or friend lists. In my lobbies it's usually 2 people or 3 people groups with 1-2 solos, full SWFs and full solos are both rare.

So basically the possibility already exists, all they'd do is make it more comfortable. And I agree that they should.

Your option 2 is rather useless though because around 9 out of 10 there will be at least 2 people SWF so it's gonna show "swf detected" almost all the time. It should either show how many people are in SWF or only show up if all 4 are SWF. I don't think it needs to show who exactly is in an SWF and who isn't. Just a notification like "SWF: 3" would be perfect.

  • Being a noob is not illegal and not a bannable offence.

Neither is camping/slugging/tunneling/NOED/all that you've mentioned. Nor it should be. But rage quitting is and so you got rightfully banned.

You can't dictate how others should play or expect reprecussions if they don't play the way you want them to.

  • My original nickname here was SerLukas which is shortened from my real first and last name. I forgot the password for that one and made another one with one letter changed.

My Steam username is DrunkZombie. It used to be SleepyZombie because I didn't get enough sleep at the time and felt like a zombie. It got better and I began drinking a little more so I changed it to DrunkZombie.

I'll probably change it back to SleepyZombie soon beacuse I have a bit of sleeping problem again but I also drink less now.

  • Complete rework easily. He was a unique killer that was turned into a basic M1 killer. That's a horrible change.

I'd like him to be reworked into a unique killer again but obviously without moonwalking and other ######### like that.

  • A friend offered it to me and another friend while I was looking for something to play. 3 of us tried it, but only I ended up playing it regularly.

  • More of "that boring" than "that bad balance-wise". Waiting is boring and she has to wait a lot.

I can try to explain it, but I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't already been said.

Basically, the value that those cosmetics held for those who owned them wasn't what the cosmetics themselves looked like, it was what they represented. Like souvenirs, if you like. The fact that you owned that cosmetic meant "I was here, I went through the requirements to achieve this" - whether it was grinding an event, or going to a convention, or winning a giveaway.

It wasn't a matter of lording it over other people or feeding a superiority complex, it was a sense of pride in being singled out for their achievements - similarly to the sense of pride someone might earn for receiving a distinguished trophy of some kind.

Essentially, the value of those items lay in what they represented as trophies, not only to those who earned them but to the community at large. By giving them away to everyone, the value in that sense was reduced to nil. It was a loss, and that's why people were disappointed.

I get what you mean with souvenirs. To me, souvenirs represent good memories of something meaningful from the past. The thing is, if copies of my souvenir will be available for everyone through other means, that won't remove or devaluate those memories for me. At least that's how I feel. Especially towards something that required no serious effort to achieve.

Also I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people with the exact elitist attitude I described. If you aren't like that - good, but that's the impression most comments here gave me.

If you think that the basis of the complaints was elitism, you weren't paying enough attention.

What I see is "The event was hard, so I deserve the skin, while others don't". Except for it wasn't that hard and people exaggerate the effort needed to get the skins.

That's what I got from those complaints and to me it sounds like elitism. If I missed something feel free to point it out.

  • I participated in the event and I have 3 out of 4 cosmetics from that. I don't have Kate's dress because I didn't like it and didn't bother to get it. So that doesn't make much difference for me personally.

But I still think that it is a stupid change not making it available for everyone simply because of some people's elitist attitude.

And most of the reasons I hear sound like total bs, here is why:

    1. You didn't have to "bust your ass" to get the cosmetics. The events were easy. You simply needed to play the game during the event. Participation didn't require any additional acton - you needed to do gens or hook people. It was slightly harder on survivor's side because you always had 3 competitors in a lobby(at least that was for solos, SWFs could share) Also if I remember correctly, devs actually prolonged one of the events by a week, making it even easier than what it was supposed to be.
    2. "The grind" argument - please note that it was 2018, not 2016. The grind was already a lot easier and was rather close to what it is now.
    3. "Gen campers" argument - yeah, there were jerks like that, on both sides (I had Jakes sabotaging event hooks in my face while I carried someone) They were annoying but not numerous enough to actually prevent you from completing the event. Also as a survivor I had more competition from my teammates than the killer.

So I find it rather stupid that someone is unhappy with those skins released for everyone considering they lose nothing. Except for a part of their elitist attitude I guess.

  • Not often. Usually for two reasons:

    1) I'm in a good mood and feel like it.

    2) The hatch is closer than the nearest hook and I'm too lazy to walk there.

4.4 is actually powerless. There's a lot of loops that are infinite against 4.4 MS killers, of course to offset the 4.4 killers have tools to shorten chases, but even a TL jungle gym is hard for a 4.4 killer to deal with.

Okay, a 4.4 killer in a chase without an access to any power is powerless, no argument here.

But I was arguing about Spirit, who has enough options to not be powerless despite her basic speed.

Because before Update 3.4.0, you had to actually work for them.

Work how? All you had to do is play the game. Occasionally selecting a different gen or hook during those events isn't what I'd call work. That's for event clothes.

And for those ultra rares you just had to be lucky to be in the right place at the right time to recieve a code. That requires luck, not work.

Alternatively you could buy one from a reseller, but that's just a scam. Anyway that took money but no effort.

So what work did it require?

Let's see, your chances for winning "a mindgame" have been gutted, and each time you don't guess correctly you have to play as a 4.4m/s killer with no power for 15 seconds.

Do you like playing as a powerless killer each time you ######### up for 15-20 seconds?

4.4 is not powerless. Nurse is powerless during recharge as she can't even catch up to survivors in the open. Spirit during her recharge can still catch up and even if she doesn't get a hit, she situationally can force down a pallet or at least get close enough to get a hit on next phasing. Even if you don't get results, you at least do something meaningful instead of just waiting. That's fine by me.

Also how will Spirit's mindgames get gutted? From what I've read, her mindgame potential will still be intact.

  • I'm okay with her as she is now. But the changes seem to be okay as well, so I don't mind them.

Adapt?, the past says something completely different from what you're saying but you know...

The thing is: i'm not upset by the nerf, (personally wasn't needed), they made nurse UNFUN, spirit will be UNFUN to play AS.

    See the problem ?

The thing is I don't see anything in the Spirit nerf that makes her unfun.

With the Nurse nerf it's clear - doubling the time she has to wait after each blink is unfun.

But what of the listed Spirit changes makes her unfun to play as?

  • That I agree with 100%, even if they will be sold for 10% of the bp they costed that would be good.

  • The changes actually seem adequate. After the Nurse nerf I expected a lot worse.

Have to test her in the PTB to be sure, but from what I read it's actually good - removes some annoying ######### on survivor side and doesn't add any annoying ######### on killer side (unlike Nurse) or turn Spirit into a generic M1 killer (unlike Legion)

I really hope that those are all the changes.

  • "If the game is balanced, it will be fun."

That's simply incorrect. A lot of people found DBD to be quite fun in 2016 despite it being very much unbalanced.

Don't get me wrong, balance is very important, but balance and fun are 2 completely different things. They intercept, usually in "being on a recieving end of an unbalanced mechanic is not fun", but it doesn't work vice versa - as in "a completely balanced game still can be unfun".

That's kinda what happened to Nurse - balance-wise she's probably better now but she became very much unfun to play as, because you have to wait 3-6 seconds after each move which results in almost half a match of inactivity. That kills her for me.

And sure as hell fun is subjective. Even when we discuss a single character, addon, item or perk being used, half of us primarily considers how fun is it using that while the other half primarily considers how fun is it versing that. That's as subjective as it gets.

  • I believe that Prayer beads should be changed. I also believe that it is the only thing that should be changed about Spirit.

At least right now it would be better just to change this addon and check if Spirit would still "overperform" on not instead of hitting her with the nerf train.

  • The problem I have with new Nurse is that she's simply become unenjoyable.

Half the game you are literally doing nothing but waiting for your blink to recharge. And unlike the other killers you are entirely powerless in the meantime. That's just super boring, as it feels that I'm waiting more than playing(though will current killer queues I really am)

That's just my opinion but I'm definitely not gonna play her now.

  • For bloodpoints of course. I still need to level up some characters.

  • Ruin, Pop, sometimes Thataophobia + Dying Light as a combo.

  • 4% means it's 4 of 100 or 1 of 25.

0,5% would be 1 of 200 and it clearly isn't that rare.

It actually isn't hard to test, all that's needed is 3 people in KYF and several hours of time.

  • I played on Saturnday several games as killer and hardly felt any difference in any aspect. Ranks 11-9.

However one big difference was that the matchmaking queues were a lot shorter that usually - from 2-5 min to below 1 min.

  • Usually it's either a map with a very strong loop in the main building or just a very big one that's hard to patrol.

    Those that I consider survivor-sided

    Ironworks of Misery

Groaning Storehouse(if it has an open window in the main building)

    Blood Lodge

not sure if Wretched shop and Gas Haven are that survivor sided now but I still hate them

    Fractured Cowshed

Torment Creek(if the stronger window is open)

Disturbed ward, Haddonfield, Ormond, both Swamp and Red Forest maps.

  • Sprint First

    Spirit Furry

    Noedead

    Decisive Spike
