I think it's a good system. When you purchase DBD and lose your first 20 games as Survivor, then you either play Killer or play another game.
This solves the imbalance with too few Killers. Make Survivor as miserable for any new player as you possibly can, stunt your growth for that role (yeah they're only 80% of the playerbase but w/e) and try to make Killer experience feel better by giving them a few buffs here and there.
The great thing about implementing a system like this is that no matter what content they release, the playercount will go down to what it was now after just 2 weeks and 80% of your new players will drop the game.
-
Some people in this thread are very dismissive of lower MMR brackets. Should new survivor players expect to lose even more then? If you recommend this game to a friend and they lose 7 or 8 of 10 games, do you think they will still want to play? Is this healthy for the game?
-
add like a 20% chance a survivor spawns into the match on hook in phase 2. Only way to balance.
-
Earlier today I had a survivor on Fathers Chapel run to shack, throw the pallet and DC at 5 gens. Killer then proceeded to play like his family was about to be executed in a hostage situation.
Honestly wish this was reportable.

how minted are you this is on sale
Total comes out to £95.98
Admittedly there is a sale on at the moment.
If you get the Killer and Survivor Expansion packs you dont need to buy 11 DLCs.

Pointless change nobody asked for.

Killers have now the same queues survivors had before the patch that buffed killers. Aren´t you happy that survivor finally has some instant lobbies instead of queues?
Not sure why instant queues should be considered good if the games are crap.
A few years ago on WoW you could instantly queue for a battleground as Alliance but you had a 20% chance of winning, or you could queue as Horde wait 10 minutes and win 80% of your games. The only way to increase your winrate as Alliance was to find 4 other (good) players and premade.
The current situation for survivor during the day is you get matched with whoever is queuing and put up against a Killer who is willing to wait a long time for a queue pop. The only way to really increase your wins is again to premade. The current MMR system is terrible when one side has to wait and just throws MMR balance out of the window.

Everytime I return for my first game back since the start of level 2 of the current tome, I end up not playing for another week.
I know camping and tunneling blah blah blah but it’s either I’ve got the worst survivor luck atm or my MMR has reached dunce.
I don’t even get angry anymore, I just dont waste my time anymore playing DBD. I tried playing killer couple weeks ago, it was very fun but having to queue just as long as a match again is waste of my time.
Actually can’t even remember when last I saw a killer even show mercy to any survivor or vice versa. The game just feels really toxic right now 😢
And also OTR should work imo after the last gen.
Lastly it should be down to any one perk to stop toxic/unsavoury behaviours. Instead of making that new perk apart of the dlc that stops camping, they should add it for free like they did with that killer perk that removes boon totems!
Anyways I hope this isn’t what most are experiencing atm.
I really don't understand why the anti-camp perk was made a paid-DLC only perk when anti-boon was made a free perk for all characters. It boggles the mind.
-
why did they gift us the same skin most of us have though? they only give 1 skin away a month through prime as it is.
-
You're a survivor main who thinks Killers got nerfed this patch and this is now your 3rd thread where you open claiming to be a survivor main and wanting killer perks to be buffed further.
"And finally Pain Resonance. The notification was absolutely crucial to incentivize the killer to leave the hook and go pressure said gen, specially coupled with Dead Man's Switch."
No it wasn't. Tinkerer has arguably always been more of a incentive for killers to leave the hook. PR & DMS took no effort and didn't even require the killer to leave the hook area at all since it automatically locked the gen for them.
-
If I want out and I can't DC I'll kill myself on hook.
If I can't kill myself on hook cause the killer won't hook me I won't move so I get crows when they slug me. If they don't slug me I'll jump in and out of any locker nearby.
If you create an atmosphere where players feel like disconnecting, what are you doing?

Strangely I've only ever seen survivor hackers.
Infinite instant blinding flashlights, teleporting to the exit gates before they're completed, instant healing, fasting sprinting speeds, etc.
Admittedly some of them have hacked their way into being killers, but they're queueing up via the survivor role.
had a teleporting bubba the other day, downed all 4 survivors within 10-15 seconds of the game starting and then slugged everyone to death.
Not entirely sure of the point tbh.
-
The problem is that it's never thanataphobia on it's own. They just stack slowdowns.
-
I have exactly 50 friends on Steam who have played DBD in the past, of which 10 have played DBD in the past 2 weeks. Of those 10, 2 have played more than an hour a day over the past 14 days. I've played almost 50 hours these past 2 weeks but since the update I've played 2-3 hours a day. I'm looking forward to seeing the BP incentive in the game again as it feels like a slog atm.
Feels less than usual, but people are on vacation and/or playing other games after burning out during the anniversary event.
-
I think it's pretty sad that 6 days after their patch the entire post-patch playercount increase was gone. Past 2 days the peak playercount has actually been lower than it was pre-patch.
We won't get another proper update for 6-8 weeks so I don't see how the numbers will increase.
-
I think as a survivor half your loadout being 2nd chance/anti tunnel is a pain. I like that it disables in endgame but I dont like the reduced DS stun time.
I've enjoyed playing killer more and have been getting more grabs and my chases are generally shorter since survivors make less distance. Haven't really noticed the pallet/wall/gen break speed increase.
I don't like the tax on prestiging, it seems completely pointless to spend a whole match worth of BP just to prestige.
New bloodlust change is bad and is just telling us instead of fixing map tiles they'd rather buff a band-aid mechanic for killers who take loops incorrectly or can't catch a survivor because the tile generation is busted.
Some of the new loops are pretty disgusting especially on suffocation pit & groaning storehouse. On Storehouse yesterday I had a gym, rock pallet, shack with window facing into the new tile with 2 windows and a pallet which I was able to loop a semi-decent Spirit on for 4 generators.
SBMM isn't working correctly. Solo-queue is in an even worse state than it was pre-update. Self-care, Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Tinkerer, Hex Ruin and Decisive Strike are all terrible now and nearly every survivor perk that was changed are still not worth running.
The decent perk updates to come out of this update for Survivor are Distortion, Déjà Vu, Hope, Lightweight, Lucky Break and Off the Record.

This has been my build today. Alternate between Springwood & Ormond.
Died 1 game I forgot to put map on and got nurse on midwich
and final build if you're SWF. two with Prove thyself 2 with BT.

Past 2 weeks peak playercount on Steamcharts
Wednesday 13th of July 45,192

It would seem that all of the June growth is gone and Patch 6.1 upgrade growth will be gone in a day or 2.

games aren't fun, why play them?
you enjoy playing against this?
3 slowdowns minimum per game + tunneling. Sooooooo much fun.
-
Can you upload them in screenshot format, like this?
etc.
Makes it easier to believe.
-
its not on the roadmap so if we do it'll be july 2023 or after.
-
are you playing on console? maybe you load in slower on ormond and they've already done the gen.
If a generator takes 90 seconds to complete solo, and they are at 70% then they have been on the gen for 69 seconds. Maybe you take 40 seconds extra to load onto Ormond?
-
stack it with deadlock for even better affect. let house and another gen go, once I got rolling with hooks they didnt do another gen. Easypeasy.

EU central morning, early afternoon. Absolute nightmare.
There are at least 1-2 brand new parts per game. If I don’t bring gen slow I don’t even have a chance.
Mostly 0-1 kills.
This patch barely changed anything tiles are still strong zero mindgame for an M1 killer.
Fortunately BNP doesnt actually work atm so that wouldnt have made any impact.
-
Just had my first match with a hacker in like years. I was trying to do a 10 win-streak on survivor (3 escapes so far) this guy flew all over the map, perma blinded the killer screamed and hooked themselves like 1000 times, gave us all max altruism points, insta repaired 2 gens and urban evaded at like mach speed out of the closed exit gate.
-
I hard tunnelled to adept Myers the other day. There is no consequence to tunnelling atm and it helped me adept so why not. The TTV and another in the lobby questioned why I did it, I apologised and moved on. Player was on console and long gone. They even had DS but barely made any distance.
There is no real punishment for hard tunnelling a player.

If 2 of your teammates went from full health to down in 15 seconds each, that Freddy could have been perkless and still beat your team
right but I wouldn't have been incapacitated by eruption 5 times.
-
just played against this in solo. both console survivors lasted about 15 seconds per chase. 3 slowdown perks + discordance. we did 1 gen. Actually gonna stop playing for the night lol.
-
If most survivors are bringing Prove Thyself I'm sure that the killers could bring a perk to sow Discordance among survivors that stack on gens.
-
Like with many games that have a strong EU and NA presence, there are more EU players than NA.
With games like DOTA2, WoW, etc. you can see NA is quite casual compared to EU so it makes sense that it peaks during EU offhours and not NA. Plus Work/life balance is just generally better in EU compared to NA with less hours worked.
On steamcharts the hours with most played for DBD is 15:00-21:30 GMT+1 (UK/IE/PT), 16:00-22:30 for FR/DE/IT/ES (etc.) or 17:00-23:30 for Russia, Turkey, Finland, Baltics etc.

Oh look, another poster with a history of killer sided posts saying solo queue is fine. Color me surprised! But he has survivor in his name! Surely that means he's not biased. Nope!
ya true plus hes gone from being a 4k hours survivor main to a 3.5k survivor main in the span of a day between his threads defending this update.

Forgot step 8 9 10
8 new patch
9 more players come back lowering q times
10 more money is spent repete step 1-10
Almost like the cycle you've been in for the past 5 ish years
On Steamcharts,
September 2021 the game was "stable" following August 2021 with 51K players on average.
In the past 24 hours this game had 51K players at peak. Not average, peak.
Day 1 of this new midchapter update has 68K players at peak. Day 2, 55K players at peak, Day 3 51K players at peak. 2 more days like this and we'll be below the numbers before the midchapter. It'll take less than a week to completely negate any playercount gain from this update. The next update is in what, 6-8 weeks? If this game can't even retain a post-update growth of players for a week how well will that bode for the future of it?
-
Blight, Pinhead, Legion
-
If I try really hard maybe the killer wont camp and tunnel my teammate!
oh wait.
Maybe next game it'll be different, surely.
-
It's getting worse for me. On release I escaped 9/14 games as survivor.
Today I'm currently 1/7.
Played 3 games of Killer today as well, 4k on Hag (shackles on Lerys lol), 4k on Trapper, 3K on Hillbilly.
-
You are correct that it uses offerings first in calculation then doubles. with 10 survivor games with 100% incentive, playing a flan each time (often the only 1 to) I had just over 1M bp after 10 games.
However incentives appear to be turned off atm so I wouldnt use any.
-
Thanks I just did that. Mods can close this.
-
Same thing has happened to me.
-
I've picked him up more recently but I wish they'd change his sounds and animations. I don't enjoy either his grunts/groans or his general chainsaw animation. I like what he does with the M1 though that's a great animation.
-
He should've been written as bisexual rather than gay imo. Would stop the arguments about the girlfriend in earlier tomes and bisexual people are underrepresented and face discrimination even from the Lesbian and Gay community.
-
didnt tunnel but matchmaking put me with 1 great survivor and 3 very clearly new players. If others are struggling with adepts, just wait until you get a lobby with no/few prestiged survivors so you can stretch the game out
-
most killers aren't reliant on them so it's not too bad but I did think we were gonna get rarer addons earlier once we hit certain prestige levels.
-
also to note if you run SB you can turn unsafe gens into reasonably safe gens without having to drop a healthstate unlike with overcome. Plus with killer recovery speed increased marginally after hit it's been an indirect nerf to overcome.
-
prefer SB with vigil because you can set up potentially a long chase with it. With overcome you have to heal. Also overcome doesnt help vs 1 hit down killers like Myers, Bubba and Billy but SB helps a lot to position yourself. Add windows & bond so that you know where your team has dropped pallets & are repairing gens so you dont feed jolt when you go down.

I'm getting a bit confused here.
So as an example.
My David was prestige 2. He had every perk in the game to tier 3 before the update.
He is now prestige 7 and he now has the 21 perks at tier 1 which are from the 7 survivors I didn't prestige before the update. So those 21 perks have been downgraded on David from tier 3 to tier 1.
thats a bug you need to report it
-
reload your game it came out almost 3 hours ago.
-

I have 2 survivors, David and Dwight that I know i had unlocked every perk in the game to tier 3.
Now I have 21 perks on those 2 that are tier 1 because their survivor is not prestiged yet.
Is this how it's meant to be?
no thats not how its meant to be. I had some non-prestiged characters with every perk in the game.
They got bumped to 6 and kept all of their perks.
Meanwhile a character I did prestige 3x does not have all perks, showing you that I dont have everything unlocked across the board.
If you've lost perks after the update I would submit a bug report.
