Easy to defend, extremely difficult for the survivors to get a safe rescue.
If you're playing against a Bubba as well.. good luck lol
-
How does switching Killers affect MMR...?
-
I don't want to sound mean, but having ''fat'' representation isn't healthy, as people being fat isn't good at all.
-
That's the risk of slugging a survivor, it is the fastest way to disable a person, but you expose yourself to Tenacity, Unbreakable, or will just simply lose them.
If you introduce a mechanic to help Killers to find slugged survivors, it negates the risk aspect of it. Plus, there are perks like Deerstalker to combat this issue.

Uh no they aren't?
You got any evidence to back that up or you just saying that cause you disagree?
It's obviously just my word, but I've seen both roles over the past year complain about the other side acting like a dick, even though they have the idea of ''Well they can do whatever they want as long as it isn't cheating.''

If you're playing for LGBTQIA/whatever, then this game isn't for you. This game is about surviving and killing, not about which characters want to sleep together.
This as well. The only time sexuality would really be relevant was when it came to the lore of the character.

I think it's funny how people feel like DS is ''60 seconds of invulnerability'' while it's literally;
''I can stun you once for the equivalent of a pallet stun & its break action... and I have a minute to do it.''
You don't have to leave the DS user alone for a minute you know. Just take it to the face & kill them after, simple.
Compare that to exhaustion perks that are active multiple times a game and DS basically doesn't even exist when equipped.
If you're massively winning as the killer, or are against potato survivors, sure, taking the DS doesn't do much to hinder the killer, but if you're playing against really good and efficient surivvors, taking the DS is a massive net loss because it lets them get away and potentially loop you again for a while, as you lost the only form of pressure you had.
By itself, you can just slug the survivor, but if it's combined with unbreakable, it really is a minute of invulnerability since nothing the Killer can do will keep you disabled for a while.
-
I'm gay, but the idea to ALWAYS have a gay character is just promoting people complaining about a ''token character''.
I get the idea of representation, but do you really need a gay character in a game to feel valid?

This is the problem I brought up in another thread.
It is not your responsibility to ensure the other side has fun in a versus game. That's not how things work.
I would rather a Killer try as hard as he can the entire match rather than lower his power level to make sure I have "fun."
It's disingenuous and insults my skills as a player.
This applies to every single game I've ever played, and holds extremely true to fighting games.
Yet the very same people who do the whole ''play how you want'' or ''It's not your responsibility to care for the other side'' are the exact same people who go on to complain about one role acting like a dick.

That's nice! I just think that Demo and the Twins should be lower.
I think Demogorgon is underrated. He has a power that can make certain loops/structures very unsafe whilst having a mobility tool that can be particularly powerful at times.

The problem here, between you and I, is that I don't feel it is disrespectful or lacking empathy to play hard and give 100%. I am making the assumption they are doing the same. I don't give them grief or try to shame them about their builds at the end of the game. I also think you are making a very big assumption (and a wrong one) when you say that that the vast majority of the player base agree on anything.
- This Forum is not the player base. All the posters here, and who have ever posted here, are still a tiny minority compared to the countless players we will never see post, or show up on social media. Most players just play the game; bless them!
- Even the people who do post on this Forum don't even make up the majority of people who read it. Angry people tend to post, which skews the perspective like a funhouse mirror. If you were to judge the game by the people posting, you wouldn't believe the game is profitable. You would think the Devil himself is the CEO and their only purpose is to ruin the lives and fun of everyone they suck in.
- People tend to be hypocritical. They think those things are anti-fun when directed at them, but it doesn't stop them from diving in with gusto when the shoe is on the other foot. I can't name and shame, but I've a running list of people I've played against that post here who play the opposite of how they "claim" to play. I find it very amusing.
I make no bones about it. I will Tunnel, Slug, Camp, and Mori if a particular match calls for it. Those things are valid tactics and specialized tools. Sometimes they are the right tool to use, and sometimes they are not. Killers also make use of Herding to keep up Generator Pressure (pivotal in importance), and to create the subtle but effective 3-Gen lock for late game. Likewise, Killers must know when to break off a chase, and when not to start it in the first place. They must mind game properly, and they must know when to play dumb. That is to say, you can miss on purpose, do things in dumb patterns early in a game which sets up the GOOD Loopers for failure later at a key time. In other words, if you identify someone who is going to be hard to catch, you make sure he/she loses all fear of you. It makes bank.
Killers and Survivors both have their specific role and mutually exclusive goals. This is a PvP game and once people accept that and stop trying to apply their own (usually hypocritical) standards beyond the rules, they will be happier and have more fun. Let me put it another way, I also used to grind my teeth about being tunneled, slugged, camped, or catching a Mori. To me, it seemed like it was happening all the time. So I started tracking it. Guess what? It wasn't. Those things, particularly as I left the potato ranks behind, are a distinct minority. Once I stopped worrying about it, they seemed to happen even less. My fun went up by leaps in bounds when I stopped worrying about what other people are doing in the match and just worried about what I'm doing.
Problem is, you can play seriously whilst still being respectful to the other side unless it's going to make you lose. There's been so many situations where the killer is in no threat of losing, but will still tunnel or hardcore camp. Why? You're going to win regardless of what you do, so why make the game miserable for one particular person?
The moral of the story is to not act like a dick for no reason, in my opinion.

No, that isn't what that poster was saying. It is rude to put words in their mouth. The rules of this game can be boiled down to:
- Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game finish it.
- Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat. (This last one is really not a rule just an expectation of good sportsmanship).
Playing by the RULES is not ignoring the other side's experience. We all know the rules of this game when we come to play. We don't get to add ones we like better. You don't get to grief/shame other people for not abiding by your own extra set of morals and morays. I will give you an honest, hard game. When you beat me, you can take pride in the fact that YOU beat me. I won't be blaming it on anything "toxic" or "scummy" or "sweaty" or any other idiot term de jour. I am not responsible for your fun, nor are you responsible for mine. Our mutual expectations should be (no more and no less) that we are going to give a good effort. We bring our own fun to the game. You should be here for the challenge. If you don't like PvP you should find a different game. There are plenty of them out there.
And yes, I will agree you; I think your attitude is definitely a sense of entitlement. I'll go one further, it is unearned entitlement. We all face the same things when we play this game. Nobody likes it when things go south, and few people enjoy losing. We play for love of the game, not the outcome. We should only be promoting that people do numbers 1-3 above, nothing more and nothing less. What you call "promoting" I call giving people salty grief and attempting to shame them. It isn't a good look, so don't try to dress it up as something noble. It isn't.
The vast majority of the player base would agree that camping, tunnelling, gen rushing and all the other components of the game that I listed in another post are frustrating and are anti-fun. In fact, we know that the majority of the community are frustrated with these aspects of the game because we see frequent and daily posts complaining about those very aspects.
There's nothing about this game that is competitive. There's no competitive queue, there are no rewards for achieving a higher rank, there are no statistics or rankings in the game to ideally distinguish someone as a better player than another, the game is pretty casual at its core and people play casual video games to have a fun and fair experience. When you tell people that they can play in anyway they want as long as it isn't a form of cheating, you're breeding a toxic form of gameplay that just breeds more misery and hatred for the other side and drives people away from the game.
I'm not even saying you cannot EVER not camp, tunnel, slug or bring the components of the game that I listed, I'm just asking the community to have some empathy for the other side and understand that if you do those very aspects of the game, the other side is going to get pissed and probably curse at you, because guess what, those very elements of the game are frustrating. Sitting in a queue as a survivor for 10 minutes, to instantly see a Spirit with a mori tunnel you off hook and eliminate you from the game in 1.30 minutes and earn 5K bloodpoints is miserable.
Sure, it's entitlement, but it's entirely fair to have the expectation of being able to PLAY the game and have a decent experience with it. That's the entire point and existence of video games, to have fun with them. Now, if you're telling people to play like a dick to the other side, you're just breeding toxicity, end of discussion.
It's even more weird how we're respectful to others in the real world, yet when it comes to the virtual world, we just don't care anymore and live to make the other side as miserable as possible.
-
Here's mine.
-
Depends on the Killer you're facing. If it's a camping Bubba for example, there isn't much you can do.
-
@TrapperClaus said:
Because you definition of "scummy" is flawed. You consider playing certain ways "scummy" while it's actually not. Killer's job is to kill you and if you think that killing you faster than you expected is "scummy" and you proceed to call that killer names or make posts like that, you are the one who is being scummy, not the killer.
Scummy ways of playing are making people bleed out when you had no reason to, BMing, holding game hostage, etc. Killing somebody quickly or using hooked survivor as bait or simply not allowing to save them is not scummy.
Stop with that nonsense. You are just salty that killer denied you something, you thought you were entitled to, while you actually weren't.
By the way, if we ever start counting every thing survivors can do to win (similar to like survivors call "scummy" things that killers can do to win) our list would way longer than yours.
Wanting to have a fun and fair experience for BOTH sides is being entitlted?
Yikes man, this community literally be promoting toxic gameplay and then turn around to ######### about it when it happens to them.
-
If the Nurse is good, there's really nothing you can do as a survivor.
That's my tip, haha.
-
Honestly, the only way to offer any good criticism is to see you play, text based advice really doesn't do much.
-
I play with some friends around 12-5am, queues are pretty much the same regardless of if we queue or not.
-
Totems are permanently gone, as are the perks associated with them. Victor may be eliminated quicker, but Charlotte gets him back pretty quickly and there's no limit to his usage.
Plus Victor can literally kill you, totems cannot by themselves.
-
The only nerf that Undying really needs is the aura reading. Being able to see the auras of any survivor near a single totem (even dull ones) gives a lot of information and opportunity to defend their perks. Hell, sometimes you're at a loop and see their aura because of a dull totem nearby, getting you the down.
I honestly think the perk is fine, there are counters to it, you have perks and items as a survivor to help you locate totems extremely fast, the only thing that should be taken away from Undying is the aura reading, since it acts as a pseudo-thrill of the hunt, which is somewhat silly.
Other than that, it's a strong and healthy perk in my opinion. It makes a lot of Killers strong enough to win games without resorting to tunnelling or camping too hard. If you keep seeing it a lot, or dislike going against it, bring Small Game, or a map and watch it be gone in under two minutes.
-
@Voldemort said:
Just play the game. Don't care about dbd "rule book".
I don't really understand this idea.
If you're telling people to play how they want and completely ignore the other side's experience, you're basically breeding a toxic game for both sides, where more and more people will become frustrated and unsatisfied with the game.
Imagine if every game, the Killer brought a red mori, tunnelled, camped, and used Spirit/Nurse, etc. Or if all four survivors brought keys, DS/UB, gen rushed. The game would become miserable, whereas, if we tell BOTH survivors and killers to play with some respect and empathy to the other side, the game would become more fun and enjoyable.
Call it entitlement, but I'd argue its reasonable to want to have a fair and fun experience in any video game. I don't expect people to do it, but we should promote the idea to do it.
-
@Terro said:
Well if that fits your criteria for being scummy then... I'm not sure if you're right about whose more scummy. What's the criteria for survivors being scummy? Hook bombing? Doing gens too fast? Not respecting the killer? Suiciding on hooks? Keys?
For survivors, I'd argue being ''scummy'' is:
-Sangbagging teammates, or not providing a fair level of altruism (e.g bodyblocks, taking the heat off someone else, rescuing them off hooks).
-Bringing a Key, although not as bad as a red mori, it's still pretty bad.
-Click Click Click
-Noise Notifications

@BadMrFrosty said:
I wouldn't say that's an unreasonable opinion. Small groups of survivors and a tiny minority of solos are a bit scummy, but honestly, I find killers to be the worst, and I've played more killer than survivor. Scummy killers are also the first to complain about "toxic SWF" and claim they get these crazy, coordinated DEPIP squads every game. Translation: "I usually play terribly and resort to ineffective tactics (that only work against uncoordinated solos), but refuse to accept that average SWFs are beating me, so I'll just pretend they're the best survivors in the game and claim that's all I get. BVHR, please give me another bloodlust-esque leg up. No, I can't improve how I play and no, the tactics I'm using aren't flawed. I'm just fighting tournament level teams all the time, that's all."
Something like that, anyway. Most games, if I lose, it's generally because I dun goofed. Badly. There's the odd game where the imbalance across maps shows, but in all honesty, it's super rare against most teams (even SWF). Pretending otherwise is just dishonest.
Edit: The game has never been easier for killer, I mean, have you looked at most of the new, non-linked tiles? Christ they're awful. Killers can just bloodlust around them or, in some cases, "just go around, lol."
Agreed. The game has been slowly moving towards a even playfield for both roles, sure, in some aspects, survivors have it better, but in the vast majority of situations, if you lost as a Killer (Let's say losing is four escapes, or less than 2 kills, the default balance the developers want) then you made multiple mistakes.
A lot of Killers just blame their lose on the game when its come to a point where if you're good at Killer, you'll do well. Hell, if you're good at Killer mechanics, use Ruin/Undying and bring someone like Freddy or Spirit into the match, you will 9/10 times get a 3-4k.
-
@Punisher2001 said:
Survivors are so much more scummy on the whole than killers, it's honestly a little frightening. You'd think that killers would be the ones with all the power, and thus all the structural power advantage that leads to becoming scummy. However, the devs have catered the game to the survivors so much so that actually survivors are the ones that run every match and thus have the power and the structural reinforcement to become scummy. As I'm running NOED, 3 Ruin Hexes, BBQ+Chili, Nurses Calling, and a Mori, I'm constantly bombarded with survivor BS and sometimes don't get as many kills as I deserve.
Yeah that's just some BS, if you can't 3-4k with a mori then your skill as a Killer is definitely in question.
-
It's sad, most Killers don't respect the DS or just tunnel people, so bringing it is a necessity.
On the other hand, when I play Killer, I'll actively not tunnel and never have a problem dealing with DS, unless its the rare situation of getting DS at 59 seconds when I hooked two other people.
-
I'd argue Gen rushing is foregoing altruism (letting people die) and dedicating perks, items and behaviour to the generators only.
-
As a Killer main, I try my best to not tunnel because I know how frustrating it is, but.. if you do the following things, you bet your ass I'm tunneling you.
-Bring a Key
-DS me when I didn't tunnel you.
-"Click Click Click, Teabag, please give me attention"
-The survivors are rushing generators hard and I have no chance to win without it.
In general, tunnelling should be discouraged, but so should gen rushing in my opinion then, since they're the both sides of a single coin.
-
Anti-tunnel perk BTW
-
Another thread complaining about Killers for wanting to go for the win?
Sigh.
-
He's one of the best killers they have released recently to be honest.
He's got a great power that makes him strong, fair for both sides and with perks that add a new dynamic to gameplay, undying being the new meta perk and the other two being nice decent perks to consider.
He's really good.
-
Agreed. Rescuing immediately means the Killer is in the area and will likely come back to the hook or stay around.
Plus the most efficient thing to do is leave a teammate on the hook just before they go onto the next hook stage and use the rest of the time for a generator or something.

The game works just fine. There's plenty of functionality. You guys enjoy your pity party or take the code and fix it for them.
"Game works just fine"
You mean how 5 out of the 6 new perks don't even work? Or how you can pull Victor out and have a pretty good chance of him being stuck in the ground?
HELL, the very first game I played in this chapter was on Ormond as Blight, and my power was bugged, so I couldn't use his rush at all.
But yeah the game's working fine right? Better give them some more money right?

Not necessary to say man, he's aware the game has bugs, but if it was even half as bad as the complaints make it out to be, it wouldn't have the massive fan base that it does.
There is a constant stream of entitled complaining that im sure the devs and mods are sick of. Ya know, they've made good money. They could easily just stop supporting the game and work on a new development. I bet y'all would complain about that too. 70% of the people on this forum DO complain unfairly, not for "lulz" but because they can't come to terms with their own shortcomings and look for anything to shirk their losses on.
Its great when people report bugs, im happy that it happens because that's how the game gets better. But most complaints are "xyz bug / subpar release / balancing issue / quality of life issue has ruined the game. Im quitting/I'm owed something/the developers need to drop everything and bend to my whims". I'm so sick of seeing it.
If someone wants to s#!t on the dev team in this way, I say: "They made a game you love, otherwise quit and fade into obscurity quietly" But they don't, they keep playing, because its a fantastic game. Any game that has been out this long with this much new content added is going to have some constant fine tuning to do. Theres so many intricate moving parts with variations on how they were initially coded based on release date. I can only imagine how difficult it is to rework things, even if they were using UE's visual scripting.
Its a hard job. They deserve a break and a thank you every now and again.
The fair side of the community will give them a break and a "thank you" once they listen to suggestions and release content that isn't broken.
You're basically saying "Hey guys, I know the developers have ignored our feedback, and have committed back to back atrocities countless times recently, and then just released a chapter you need to pay for but can't actually play, but let's give them a break and say thank you for them even trying, right?".
No.
They're a multi-millionaire company now. If the developers are THIS incompetent, then they need to be replaced so content is actually playable on release, one little bug or so is fine, but 100+ is just pure incompetence, especially when the PTB clearly told them that they were there.

Agreed. I am sure the devs are good people. But the changes they have made and the issues they have ignored and continue to ignore (such as DS) has made most people incredibly frustrated. Just look at this chapter, it is a cluster of loads of bugs as well as an unfinished killer that is also bugged. Right now, appraisal is the last thing the devs need, they need critical feedback that they actually listen to community and core issues with the game. But you know what? They haven't, just look at the QnA stream they just had. They just ignored DS for the most part and of course dodged questions regarding this chapter; we can tell because there was not a single question about the negative impact of the new chapter. I don't mean to sound like those people on the forums, but they really do need to fix this game.
They probably are nice and great people, but they've shown us countless times that they can be incompetent at fixing their own game and even directly insulting to us, the consumer's, by releasing content locked behind money to not even work.
There is no excuse to release content that doesn't even work and have the audacity to expect customers to buy it and even love it.
Praising them is just stupid, sorry OP.

Once again that is subjective. Most maps arent inherently bad anymore. Haddon field is probably the worst currently even crocus prenn with the infinite is fine. The map is too rng focused on the outskirts. I digress though. Very good teams are fun to verse I actually have to try and win and test my skills.
The only thing that pisses me off is the ######### console frames.
Four very good survivors with the best perks, items with add-ons, all split up on generators is a real challenge to beat.
"Beat" being a 4K here.
It's impossible unless one of them makes such a huge mistake that they hand you the game.
-

I am reading just fine, but if you think he's not easy to beat. Then you just gotta get better at the game. I literally have a harder time against most Clowns than I do Freddy. Some Clown got bottles coming from no where, while Freddy gotta spit blood for a good dance before he ever shows his face.
What does "beat" a Freddy even mean? You escape alone? You escape as a team?
You can escape against a Freddy, but he's still an obnoxious Killer who's too strong.
You can also beat a Nurse or Spirit, but it doesn't change that they're still bullshit at the best of times.
-
I'll play devil's advocate here.
Thank them for what? For the non-existent balance patches that we get every other year?
For countless bugs that come with every chapter release, that are clearly defined in the PTB, but go unfixed and straight to live server?
For countless constructive feedback about their game, only to be told that they know what's best for their game (when they clearly do not) and proceed to make changes that are 9/10 times bad?
For RELEASING new content that requires the consumer's money, where the majority of the new content isn't even playable. That's the most bullshit move they could do, and then, they act defensive about it and even ban people on their discord/forums who give feedback or expose them on this.
I'm sorry, but what am I supposed to thank them for? Sure, this game is fun and is unique, but that alone doesn't excuse their horrible behaviour and incompetence over these years when it comes to the game.
I'm all for praising people and promoting positivity, but telling them "thank you" when this new chapter is literally unplayable is just a synonym for "It's okay for you to give us unfinished content, we'll give you our money and praise no matter how much you disrespect us or show how little you care."

I like being able to rely on myself and not worry about my team dragging me down. Another thing I really like is showing off my skills to survivors.
I consider myself good so I typically 4k most games at red ranks. My rank 1 hasnt been reached yet only because I'm playing and learning blight at the same time. I'm like rank 3 or 2.
I dont really consider killer that challenging tbh but that's just me.
It becomes challenging and sometimes infuriating when you go against very good survivor(s) with a good map for them.
Old Ormond against very good survivors was literal rage for me. There was nothing you could do.

Yeah, ez mode as in easy to beat you mean. Freddy is just a m1 killer if you know how to play Survivor.
"He's just an M1 Killer".
Yet he isn't though, he has insane map pressure and can end loops extremely fast, to the point where you WILL run out of pallets to work with and just go down.
His power helps him get hits unless you drop the pallet early. An M1 Killer cannot achieve this.

Depends entirely on the Killer, although in general I'll have 1-2 perks dedicated to regressing generators because it's pretty much a must against decent survivors unless you're Nurse/Spirit.
-
Killers almost always avoided walking through pallets whilst carrying a survivor anyway. This perk existing just solidifies to NEVER do it in the future.
It's pretty useless in my opinion, but the potential for it to have a great impact is pretty good.
-
I'm a Killer main now and to be honest, the experience is just so much better than solo survivor.
Only yourself to criticise.
More variety to play with and experiment.
If you're good with Killer, you'll generally always perform well against the average solo survivor team, whereas even if you're a good solo survivor, there's no guarantee you'll even do well.
It's the more challenging role, so the reward is more fun.
-
He's one of the stronger killers in the game, easily top five in my opinion and has the lowest skill requirement out of the roster.
He's bloated in power and has abilities that are almost, just better versions of other Killers.
Teleport? Demogorgon's jealous.
Free slow down mechanic? Everyone's jealous.
Snares to counter any form of looping and force early pallet drops? Clown's only power is on Freddy.. and is better
He's just so stupid in strength. On my tier list, I'd place him only behind Nurse and Spirit.
