Same issue here with Felix at level 45 (no prestige).
I noticed it happened on a bloodweb where I managed to get 16/24 nodes taken by the entity.
-
Like others mentioned, it's more about assessing the situation than how long it has already taken. The most important parts are recognising good players and strong setups, which takes time to learn.
At about 1:07 in this vid, the Killer finds an Ace at a strong tile. It took him about 20 seconds to realise it was a good survivor and a bad situation to chase in, so he dropped it and went in the direction of the hook (where there would be other Survivors to pressure).
https://youtu.be/H69KJRDHwUU?si=XiPrGkElBKIvvbEN -
He's not too bad, but I've been seeing a lot of him and noticed that Nemesis with bad latency has become one of the worst killers to play against.
He also has the projectile killer issue where whether he has a great oppressive power or an ok one depends on how many loops with high walls spawned on the map.
Zombie RNG is still painful for both sides.

I agree on the matter that chests could use a buff.
However I think just making every item from them stronger isn’t the right direction to go since it doesn’t necessarily solve the issue with chests which is like you said “detrimental due to the time spent finding and opening” and since chests don’t or very rarely provide good items with no add ons
I think a better alternative way to buff them is to give them a lot more variety and to make them quicker to access with keys!
My idea:
Skeleton keys and purple keys should be able to instantly open chests to access the items instantly
I also would increase the rng of more rare items to appear or even add ons potentially appearing on the items
Definitely a good step. As long as chests give generally better items and actually have a chance of having addons without needing perks they'd be much more useful.
The only issue I can think of is, if I brought a key (with add-ons presumably) I wouldn't see myself dropping it for something found in a chest in most situations. It's already a strong and rare item.
I still think chests should give slightly stronger items than what Survivors can take in from the loadout menu, in some small way.

The boring answer is a good Nurse because she ignores most of the games chase mechanics.
The more interesting answer is Deathslinger. 1v1 chase is pretty much his entire thing. Singularity is up there too though, and Trickster if there aren't any high loops nearby. -
I haven't actually seen him that much lately, but I think he's fine to play against. The only time I don't have fun is on an indoors map when he never commits to any chase.
-
I'd say so. Strength in Shadows and Wicked can both be pretty strong if you can play around them. Weaving Spiders is worth ignoring though. She's also pretty popular so plenty of cosmetics to come.

It's more a playstyle thing for me. I don't have much respect for pub stomping in an unranked mode with loose matchmaking. It's weak.
Oh absolutely, any killer can be played in a way which is unfun or boring for the other side. Still, I'd much prefer getting chased by a sweaty Wesker over a chill Knight for example.
-
I just think it's a really bad game mode for solos and/or newer players, with minimal HUD information and you don't know where the loops are if you haven't already played the map a few times. And it's way less chill, you have to constantly be alert even if you're just sat on a gen which is pretty draining.
That said it's also not a great time for Killers who don't benefit as much from the modifier, and if the survivors have comms. -
Legion would have a great time getting a 5th Frenzy hit more consistently.
-
If this is "scummiest way possible" I'd move Myers down a bunch. Basement/proxy camping with perma Tier 3 is boring as hell to play against. Getting hit by tombstone fragment isn't fun either.
-
Besides the obvious reasons, she's was also heavily marketed for the most recent RE game (besides re4make) and became pretty popular. As much as I would prefer Karl, he's way more obscure to someone who doesn't play Resident Evil.
Jack is a cool idea, but again, I don't think he would appeal to people outside of the RE fandom, albeit from a design perspective. On the outside, he's just a hillbilly with an axe. -
Saw the game had Freddy in it and thought, sure, I'll give it a go. I remember the Spirit teasers, how underwhelming she was on PTB and that people were upset that it wasn't a samurai killer.
DbD has come a long way lol -

Would you pay tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands designing cosmetics for a game that would pay itself back at all? Not would very many people even get them? I want P100 rewards as much as the next person but it’s just not financially viable. They are in the business of making money at the end of the day.
Tbh I can't speak for op but I'd be satisfied with anything small, like player card stuff or a red eyes cosmetic. Maybe alongside the legacy prestige backgrounds so that new characters can get them.
Just anything small to show for the effort besides the number 100 itself. -
Yes and no.
Absolutely yes to more monster killers. Bugs, aliens, werewolves, things like Xeno or Demo. I'd love to see them.
But no more body horror monsters. The three monsters original to DbD (Dredge, Singularity, Unknown) are all "creatures made with twisted human flesh", each with different spins. They're all pretty cool but that's enough of those for now. I want to see straight up beasts! -
I'd definitely move Exponential up a tier or two. Sure it's not exactly popular or reliable, but it can save whole games on occasion.

Somewhat often.
I think people need to understand that we've got so many Killers in the game that pick rate, unless it's a massively outlier, isn't really important.
Oh for the most part, yeah, it doesn't really matter. I just find it interesting to see who the playerbase gravitates towards.
Though I know some people like to avoid playing popular killers/stick to niche ones too. -
From :
Q: Will you bring back old cosmetics for newer players? There’s a few I’d really enjoy that aren’t in store anymoreA: Event-limited Outfits will come back every year for new players to obtain, same for Very Rare and above Rift Outfits, however Legacy Outfits will not be returning. -Rose
From :
Q: Will we see the return of some old rift skins that still didn’t appear in the shop after so much time?A: We plan to reintroduce most rift cosmetics back into the store, but with a focus on the unique Outfits. For color variations we are still investigating methods that won't clog up the store. Deep rift versions of Outfits will only be available in the rift. -Rose
So as far as we know, BHVR plan on bringing back the Very Rare hair, but I heard it was mentioned elsewhere that rift cosmetics of lower rarity are unlikely to return. Since it's only been specified that "Very Rare and above" cosmetics are returning, that is likely the case. -
Plague's kinda dull, but she shows up so infrequently that I don't mind facing her every once in a while.
-
Yeah, the devs have previously said in a Reddit AMA that "the offer is still outstanding" regarding Pennywise. But that was years ago, like, around year 3-4.
I did the bare minimum effort to find a source (I failed) but I saw this reposted. We could aim even higher. -
Unknown is fine overall, the only major complaint I have is the hitboxes on his explosions linger for way too long, let alone longer than the entire visual effect lasts for.
-
I agree that Wesker's chase theme is very good, but a bit too epic for running away from a normal-looking guy. His close terror radius though is one of the best in the game, it's perfect for a psychotic superpowered scientist who will stop at nothing to find and kill you.
Doctor's chase theme is the opposite problem for me. It's a short maddening loop which drills itself into your head, which suits his character and horror aesthetic perfectly, but it's just.. not fun to listen to. After getting into chase with him a few times it starts to annoy me.
-
This is a super boring answer, but slowdown perks are arguably an effective counter. Pre-dropping survivors will be more likely to burn through all the important pallets on the map before the game's over, so they have be less wasteful.
-
Unfortunately, I know that some people play her for Schadenfreude. They get satisfaction from giving others a bad time.
Other than that, she's pretty much the best "enhance your M1 experience" killer in the game. Her power doesn't require much skill or attention for decent results, while giving her a bunch of bonuses to regular gameplay once you've used it (haste, stealth, hinder, free injures). People tend to gravitate towards low skill floors.
And lastly, many people just like playing as a pretty woman. Think of how many female survivors you see compared to male ones and how many Sables have been showing up lol
-
The Unknown cosmetics I use are mixing the plaid shirt from the male model and the hairs from the female one, it'd suck if sets became linked in some way so I couldn't do this and I hate the idea that people might think I'm transphobic just because of the cosmetics I chose.
-
Besides gameplay reasons (he's fast), I always thought of the 40m as a show of respect for his character. He's arguably the big bad of the biggest horror game franchise, which is also the only licence to get two chapters. If anyone's important and powerful enough to have a huge terror radius, he's up there.
-
I doubt he will be popular - there's too many moving parts to his power. Any of the popular killers have only one power-related thing you need to keep track of at any given time (normally ammo or recharge). It's also easy to mess up, which is stressful. Teleporting though is very fluid and fun. My guess is around Pyramid Head level popularity. He exists, occasionally.
As for power, good potential, but high effort and focus, like Singularity but on a smaller scale. In the hands of an experienced player, probably not high tier but above average.
-
Stuff like crowns, legacy prestige, and charms, I am fine with. They're free and hold no cosmetic value - they're purely there to say "I played during this time" or "I finished this tome". They're pretty much just tokens.
As soon as you add money, it becomes uncomfortable because people will feel compelled to buy things they don't really want, the feeling of missing stuff can be pretty awful. And that's how FOMO makes money.
I don't like it when they have high cosmetic value either, someone might look back and think "damn, I really like that cosmetic but I can never get it because I wasn't playing at the time".
I will say that I'm fine with stuff like the Attack on Titan collection - it's out of Behaviour's hands if a licence is revoked, and I'd rather it came and went than never came at all.
-
I've been calling him Gnome. Gnome the Unknown. It's absolutely a dumb name and barely makes sense but I'm gonna stick with it. Norbert is good too.
-
I don't think there's a single killer in DbD who's scary to look at. Once you check them out on the menu, you think "oh so that's the monster that'll chase me" and carry on. There are unnerving killers though, and Unknown definitely fits that bill.
Power-wise, I will say that bright pink grenades aren't exactly the first thing I would've thought of for a scary killer, but the teleport is kinda spooky. Any time a survivor goes to dispel they risk you showing up out of nowhere, and in chase you can appear right ahead of them.
Or you could try some "come dispel me I'm definitely not the real killer" shenanigans with insidious lol

It's original
I don't think there's been any word of whether this chapter is original or licenced, only that the last two would be licenced (from Anniversary stream).
Alan Wake is super likely because flashlight (one of his weapons) and paper (he's a writer).
-
I'm wondering if the Hillbilly update will come with any sound design changes.
Part of what I didn't about playing him after his first rework was the screeching high-heat chainsaw and his silly "blaarg!' noises.
Sadako changes look interesting, hooks permanently saving current condemn progress is a good idea but I'm worried that she'll still be unfun to play against. Will have to check PTB.
-
There's plenty of characters I don't touch but the only one I don't own ever since I started in 2018 is Quentin lol
I don't play Freddy either because he feels like wasted potential. If he was replaced with the OG though..
-
Kind of agree tbh. Getting chased often feels just as much trying to see him as trying to play around his power. It's another killer with big accessibility issues.
He's also has an advantage over survivors with third-person camera. Survivors cameras are centered around their necks, Chucky's is somewhere above his head so he can see over things without giving away his model easier. Footprints are some help but nothing compares to actually being able to see the guy.
-
Telepathically talking to other survivors from across the map does go against the nature of what DbD is based around.
But how would they ever enforce a no-comms rule? Answer is, they can't.
There is literally no way to get rid of comms besides removing SWF and pre-game text chat entirely, and needless to say that would gut the casual survivor player base.
So Comms are allowed. It can suck to have everything you're doing called out by a good SWF, but it's not an exploit.
-
Dark Deception! Kind of an underrated gem. Sadly though that means it's relatively unknown and unlikely to get a licenced chapter spot over stuff like Terminator.
But hey, DD also got a Pyramid Head crossover, and characters from first-person horror pacman would translate over to DbD pretty well. Who knows what could happen.
-
It's pretty underrated for sure, I saw Otzdarva had it listed as one of his favourite survivor perks. The only problem I find with it is the Huntress/Dredge situation where on some maps there just sometimes aren't convenient lockers
-
If Freddy was replaced with OG Freddy plus voice lines, I'd main him regardless of strength or playstyle lol
-
I feel like he's too small to be fun to play against in chase.
I get that being a tiny doll is pretty much his entire schtick, but when there is grass taller than him, and the red stain is easier to spot than the actual killer's model, there's a slight problem. Especially when his third-person camera is placed significantly higher than his model, letting him see survivors over and around obstacles while he can't be seen. The game is balanced around giving the survivors a visual advantage, switching it in favour of the killer doesn't feel great.
His footprints are meant to be the answer to this, but they're small and hard to make out when split-second choices can the difference between escaping and getting hit. It's far from being as effective as seeing the actual killer. At box-high loops I'd like to be able to at least see the top of his head.

Faster fire rate with reduced laceration meter would be awful to play against. I don't mind 8 blades to injure but he needs to throw faster to compensate. That's why so many people play Trickster is for that rapid fire gameplay which this update killed.
Absolutely agree, I meant one or the other but I worded it badly lol
-
The 115% feels great, there were some loops where he couldn't use his power at all but that's less of an issue now. The removal of recoil is good too.
As others have said though, the increased knife requirement, alongside his reduced throw rate, makes removing health states much slower.
I'd prefer reducing the laceration meter back to 6 (so that singular knives matter more, and chases take less knives so there's less pressure to reload), but increasing the throw rate instead would also make him feel better.
-
As Singularity you definitely feel the pressure of EMPs when playing against coordinated teams, the killer takes a LOT of focus and management to keep up but I don't think their balance is too far off.
I don't play Xeno much, but if you're struggling, try the Emergency Helmet add-on, which massively reduces the effectiveness of turrets. It might even be too strong at the moment.
-
I've heard the theory that Blight hasn't been changed in ages because he was one of the last killers McClean worked on before he left, and nobody else knows how to change him. It's probably not true but it's at least funny to imagine lol
My best bet is simply that the devs have always had other things which take priority over their time, like reworking Skull Merchant and Twins or creating new killers and events. I agree though that it's about time he got changes, even if it was a big nerf I could see him staying reasonably effective.

There my not be much reason to add characters from a christmas movie but as far as unlikely additions Id like to see
Damn I'd love a Gremlins killer, either Stripe or Spider-Mohawk.
Plus I think Gremlins was covered by the Kill Count, so maybe close enough to horror lol
-
I was 99% sure I'd heard the same thing about rift cosmetics coming back eventually, but was never able to cite it. Glad I'm not going insane lol
I heard the theory that some of the unreleased outfits won't be returning because they were taken from the NetEase-owned mobile version, which would make a lot more sense, but I can't cross-reference or check that.
For me personally, it does suck a bit, I'll always be missing that one Frank set from my Legion collection. Especially since the rules on FOMO cosmetics became wonky even before the rift, with most of the earlier ones being given to everyone for free. On the other hand, most if not all of the cosmetics are recolours of sets or pieces still available to everyone. It's not a massive loss, and I'd be happy enough without them as long as BHVR are clear and honest about exclusives going forward.
Stuff like crowns should definitely stay exclusive though, they are more like mementos than actual cosmetics and I'm sad that the year 5 ones lost that meaning.
-
I think it'd be cool if when a survivor unhooks themselves with the anti-camp mechanic, the entity warps them to another part of the map. It gives them a chance to evade the killer for longer if they're being tunneled, and reach an area where there would still be resources to escape in chase.
