Personally, I'd like more Onis, Unknowns and Liches.
I don't hate Ghoul or Jason, but they aren't as fun to face as they are popular. Trapper, Clown and Freddy aren't common but they're still my least favourite.
-
I don't like that cake drops have become a system instead of random occurrences. Maximising cakes has become a chore.
-
I want Frank Stone to embody a "brute" archetype, who is devastatingly strong if he catches you out at close range.
I'd love if his whole stabbing-the-souls-in-his-body was incorporated into his power somehow too - maybe he can enter a powered-up state which can backfire if he exerts it too much?
And his Mori should 10000% be eating a survivor/absorbing their soul.
-
This will sound insane but I'd love to see Davy Jones show up as a killer. Maybe summoning Kraken tentacles would be part of his power lol
-
I think the main issue with Xeno's pick rate is that killers with short-range projectiles have become a pretty saturated archetype. We've got Nemesis, Unknown, Dracula, Springtrap, and more. They're all either stronger or less punishing.
So why would anyone want to play the one which lets survivors burn you out of your power? It's frustrating and demanding of the player, which immediately puts off people from learning it when the other options exist.
I think without changes in that "losing your power" aspect, Xeno won't ever really stand out again. Unless Xeno was much stronger in other areas, which isn't the right way imo.

I've never heard of this character as I'm sure other people haven't either.
Going on previous posts it doesn't sound like the game he was in was a smash hit which makes it a gamble fot devs to invest a lot of money in a full licence.
Looking at suggestions for his power:
Teleport - they are already killers who can teleport and using his camera is very similar to Sadako and the TVs.
Chest maw - Dredge mori exists. What would be different?
There's so many killers now that I think it has to be something or someone unique, which is getting harder to achieve, and going to generate money to cover the licence fee.
The Casting of Frank Stone was a story-driven game made by Supermassive Games in partnership with Behaviour, set in the world of Dead by Daylight. This isn't a licence, this is Behaviour's own character, who doesn't just resemble or fit as a killer from Dead by Daylight - he represents it.
As for your points about powers, at face value that could probably be said about a lot of killers. Like how Plague, Nemesis and Wesker all infect survivors, but each infection functions differently and has a different purpose.

To be fair… what would Frank Stone's power even have been? Is there something in The Casting of Frank Stone that leads anyone to believe he'd have been a unique different power?
(Rewriting this from another post)
They would need to fill in some blanks on his power to translate him into DbD, that's true, but that's equally true for a lot of licenced characters such as Pyramid Head. Plus, he does have things to go off of - he has a giant chest maw, he can absorb souls into his body, and there's other elements from the game such as the camera.
Personally, I'd make him a killer who's very scary to get too close to, like Myers, Bubba, or Oni conceptually, but a more modern take since there hasn't been a killer like them released for a long time. I think it'd suit his brutish portrayal in TCoFS. That said, I haven't thought out a whole power.
-
I've commented a lot on these posts, but I'm pretty passionate about it.
If this will be the standard for DbD spinoff content, to remain disconnected and uninvolved with DbD itself, and disappoint the player base when this reality is revealed, then I don't want to consume any more spinoff content. What a massive let down for him to become nothing but a skin.
As much as I think Frank Stone as a character is awesome, I'm not paying to play Trapper with a makeover either.

In addition to the conversation going on in this thread (which we're closely following - thanks for being so in-depth with your thoughts!), I wanted to pose two other questions:
1. What do you feel is the most complex-to-understand aspect of this Killer's gameplay flow here?2. What would YOU name the Drone Buddy? 👀
- Mostly the fact that she's got 3 things going on (deployable dashing drones, drone buddy dart, and Global Detection Power). If one particular thing, it's rarely obvious to a newer player when an ability which damaged them can't be used again to down them, like the drones.
- For an official name, something simple like v.0-Skull. It would make sense to be her sentimental first drone, lets players come up with their own ideas, and v.0 looks like a funny face. As a player, I'd call it Lawrence, definitely.
-
I'd like to see a new "brute" or "big monster" killer, both in aesthetics and gameplay. Something scary to be in close range with, like Oni or Bubba, which can down you in one hit.
-
I think the new power design is pretty interesting, but I have a few immediate thoughts or concerns about some details. All hypothetical of course, but based on the info given.
- Drones should be able to collide with a locker to damage a survivor inside.
To prevent an easy way to negate the power if the killer is too far away. Like the very first iteration of Twins. - Global Detection Power should have a lingering effect once a survivor stops sprinting.
I can imagine it being pretty annoying if a survivor sprints-and-stops constantly to make the radar beep repeatedly and their marker flash on-and-off. It might also be nice if a survivor's blip on the radar had its intensity changed to indicate it's about to vanish. - I'm a bit worried about the camera perspective of the drones.
While third-person sounds like it might be nice on paper, I think it might make the drones too hard to shake off (already high off the ground, allegedly faster than killers, can probably move over pallets and windows). Designing it around first person might work better, but it's definitely an area to tread carefully.
Overall I'm looking forward to seeing how new Merchant plays out. Most of all I'm wondering how the drones work. Is the dash more like Chucky, or Wesker? Will they have survivor collision, will pallets stun or destroy? I'll reserve judgement of those parts until I'm able to try her myself.
- Drones should be able to collide with a locker to damage a survivor inside.
-
In terms of aesthetics and build-up to release, the best killer in the game.
His power doesn't quite match his aesthetic but it's well-designed gameplay-wise. There's still a few small frustrations for either side:
Missing a second UVX is the difference between getting a health state and resetting weakened, or getting nothing and the survivor removes weakened. It's extremely frustrating if you are hitting every other shot, especially if some misses are because of weird collision and bounces.
Meanwhile the lingering hitbox of the UVX explosion outlasts the visual effect.
Overall great killer, not perfect but pretty good.
-
Azarov's Resting Place.
Does the Killer move around the whole map? Largely survivor sided game since moving through the middle takes so long for most killers.
Does the Killer set up on one side of the map and focus all pressure there? Largely killer sided game since survivors have a much smaller area to work with, and only one path to the rest of the map.
So it rewards the Killer for staying in one place and punishes them for using the whole map. Same thing with Forgotten Ruins, but at least the dungeon looks great.

Lots of situations where the perk's value is significantly lessened.
If the killer tunnels the person who brings it, no value.
If the killer doesn't tunnel, very little value.
If another survivor has an unhooking build, the STB user is now fighting for value.
If the killer tunnels the STB user might have to waste a lot of time off of gens to get value by being close for the unhook.
Even if the STB user does it successfully they might become the tunnel target and die for a 3e, which is unappealing to many survivors.
There's also the worst scenario: You actually use the perk perfectly, but the teammate you saved throws away their extra hook stage or gives up anyway.
The only thing more frustrating than a teammate giving up, is a teammate giving up after you make a big sacrifice to help them.
-
As a buff on its own, absolutely not.
As an iri with downsides, or in return for nerfs to other parts in his kit, I don't think I'd really mind tbh
-
Besides the fact that he's normally super popular he's got a challenge in the latest tome and recently had a free-to-play trial, so that's probably why.
Agree that it's pretty stale though, feels like nearly all of my games recently have been against him, the RE killers, and 2024 releases.
-
Is he generally balanced? Yes.
Is most of his counterplay unintuitive for the average player? Also yes, I think.
There's plenty of survivors who don't know how to play windows against him, or to hold onto EMPs at gens until you're marked. Not to mention how many times I see a pallet get dropped on him right as he teleports. Effectiveness massively varies depending on map, too.
-
For Killer, Xenomorph and Dracula. I like their level of complexity and versatility.
For Survivor, Aestri and Lara.
-
I think the irony of the 2v8 bots is that they're there to help fill out Survivor lobbies, but the prospect of playing with bots turns even more Survivors away from the game mode anyway.
-
I'm surprised by the amount of variety on here. Even Skull Merchant got played as much as Dracula, I guess a great skin can work wonders lol. Would have expected Xenomorph, Spirit and Lich to be a bit higher in play rate too.
Which server are you on, out of interest?
-
Not a tip as much as a suggestion, but Nowhere to Hide is incredibly good on Unknown. After kicking a gen and perhaps taking a very quick look around, you can teleport and keep the 24m aura reading around you for a few seconds. Personally, I never take it off.
-
I get where you're coming from. It probably feels unfair to a lot of players that had Crowns, which solely represented playing during the Anniversaries, had their exclusive memento given to everyone while Legacy cosmetics get to stay exclusive. Crowns since lost pretty much all of their meaning and now they just exist as an ugly cosmetic that everyone has and nobody uses.
But I still think giving out Crowns was a massive blunder by Behaviour, and if Legacy was given out like this, it would just become another cosmetic nobody (besides Freddy players) uses.
P100 should have some kind of reward, but not Legacy imo.
Red portraits are just client-side flair, I don't really care what happens with those. I'd prefer a banner or icon as a P100 reward though.
-
They all make sense with the character, good job.
Dragon's Grip/ Trail of Torment could also work. Trail makes Unknown stealthier, and anyone who goes for the highlighted gen too soon gets exposed. So anyone who tries to "reveal the Unknown" becomes it's target. Bit of a stretch but might be interesting. Could work with the husks and teleport too.
-
If they really wanted more people to play Survivor during the event, why not build the event tome around that? They could make a bunch more challenges for Survivor than Killer, and that'll help with the queue times at least a little bit.
But yeah, I'm just going to wait out the event. I don't want to hang around for 15 minutes as Killer to get a game in either queue.

This just feels like it would be distracting. If I'm constantly looking at another screen, I'm likely to miss things I'd normally spot. This is why I'm kinda impressed by streamers who can keep up with chat mid match... while also INFURIATED with those SAME streamers sometimes for missing the Claudette that was RIGHT THERE because they had their head turned at the wrong time.
That's all about timing. If you're on a hook/gen you're pretty much doing nothing anyway. If the game just started or you just got a hook, a quick glance might show you the survivor's location. It's not a mini-map but if you check it at the right times it could give you critical info.
And that's besides the fact that you only need to look once to check perks and add-ons, which lets you play around them or be sure they don't have something.
Last thing is, if a streamer suspect someone already went to the effort to snipe them and gain an advantage, it could make them paranoid of other stuff. Did they bring a powerful SWF who is all in on it? Did they also go out of their way to counter your build? Are they secretly cheating?
To be clear, sniping isn't on the level of stuff like wallhacks but it's still cheating and gives the player an advantage.
-
It could definitely give some pretty big advantages even if you have the stream muted, even with a ~5s delay.
If a survivor gets sniped, they can't really hide and when they're downed or on a hook the killer can see where all other survivors generally are.
If a killer gets sniped, a survivor can tell what their all their perks are, where they are, and which resources get used.
If it's a sweaty sniper they might even have a friend relaying what the streamer's saying/what their gameplan is without the doubled audio.
And one of the worst parts is, there's no way to be sure that it's even happening. I've never sniped in DbD but I definitely understand why it'd be frustrating if I thought it was happening to me.
That all said, a skilled player is still miles better than a bad one who snipes.

You can check the exact time on this twitter post, but it's tomorrow at regular update time.

I'd vote Plague. She works ok as is but her kit and mechanics have clearly aged a lot since her release. And completely invalidating healing perks and often some others is boring as hell.
Knight and Twins could also use some work since almost everyone hates facing them, but I have no idea how they could be made more fun while keeping their current mechanics and gameplay identities similar.
Nemesis is fine imo, his kit doesn't quite match the fantasy of the character but he's still a well-made killer.

This Thursday, the DnD Chaos Shuffle starts and runs till January 28th - we will also get some DnD skins for survivors and Vecna. During the second week of Chaos Shuffle, we get a Blood Hunt week. On January 28th, the next Patch goes live which means we get the next rift. This rift features Jane but every other character is unknown. These are all information BHVR gave us.
Here is the January road map: https://x.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1877037709165809778?t=t2pcad1qqNKUK9U0PkXU5g&s=19
every other character is unknown.
if only..

I agree tbh. The hellfire increase just felt unnecessary, it wasn't the problematic part of his kit.
Wolf form just feels weirdly balanced in general, in the hands of a master it can get some great hits, but it is super punishing to mess up, especially on the first lunge since you're forced to commit to both and then the fatigue after. And the tracking is really lacking without Cerberus Talon.
And bat form… I've complained enough about the transform-from-bat speed enough times already.
-
Favourite is Dead Dawg. It's completely unique to other maps aesthetically and it has a nice layout. Only change I'd make is moving main gen somewhere harder to see and see from.
Least favourite is Haddonfield. Huge portions of the map are empty and the house loops are boring. Forgotten ruins is also really bad because of the way it's divided but it's great aesthetically.
-
Lethal's fine imo, it's just used a lot because it's nice to find survivors quickly, and the 2s extra aura reading isn't that big (plus it requires another aura reading perk). Distortion's still pretty strong after the buff too.
-
Tbh the annoying part is when the killer is stood on top of you waiting for the last survivor to die, which can take anywhere from 15 seconds to 2 minutes. I already lost, and I want to move on.
-
Was this in the event game mode? My friend's been having similar crashes since the latest patch.

Interesting how bat form could do everything of that (6.0m/s instead of 6.5 but was still fast) and ignore every vault before they even touched it, but no one was talking about that form. Hell most of the people did agree that the form was underpowered much like Wolf and did need buffs.
Now its buffed and people argue non-stop that the form can ignore vaults and follow survivors after hitting them, which he could still do before the Bat buffs. Guess what? The real problem maybe be the 2.5 second swap instead of the Bat form?
Anyways, Bat form is still pretty much counterable. Cannot see survivors. Cannot attack survivors. Has both a delay + slowdown after trasnforming. The survivor can just throw a pallet and camp it and Dracula cannot even touch the survivor even with the addon that makes you shapeshift faster.
This'll be my last word here because I don't want to talk about Bat Form forever:
1. Yeah, the 2.5 second swap specifically to/from Bat Form is a problem. Switching between Wolf and Vampire on a 2.5 second cooldown isn't an issue.
2. If a survivor camps a safe pallet, just destroy it and turn back into a bat, catch up instantly. If it's unsafe, use one of your other abilities to hit them, and switch to Bat Form if they run away.
3. This is about using Bat Form as a catch-up tool, not patroling, so if you lose the survivor because you can't see them for 3 seconds I think that's a misplay from the killer, especially if they're injured and crying loudly.
4. Just because something has a "counter" does not mean it's balanced. You can counter a good Nurse by breaking line of sight, her power is still ridiculous and massively favours her in chase.

I think what this shows is how conditioned we all are to settling for weak killers. It's just assumed, not even questioned, that "Oh, Dracula has multiple forms that he can switch in and out of? He MUST have a big cooldown to slow him down when he uses that." He's like the 1 killer who isn't handicapped like that, bar his cooldowns after he uses his forms' special attacks. Hillbilly has that cooldown, Pig, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Twins, Vecna. That's all the devs know how to do. "Why are y'all so restrictive on killer design?" Because that's not what you want. You want killers who are janky and a chore to play, perhaps because you never even play them. That's what I'd tell the community.
It's literally just Bat Form though, everything else is fine. Instant 6.5m/s and ignoring all vaults is too much for a killer to get on-demand as a sub-power with a tiny cooldown.
And I definitely don't want him to be "janky and a chore". I've been playing literally just Dracula over the past week. But that doesn't change the fact that Bat Form is pretty unfair for Survivors right now.
-
It's just the fact that he gets the speed/flight bonuses instantly and there's not much fatigue at all. If he can't hit you with an M1 after, he can at least start chase from 2 meters away. Since he can switch freely every 2.5 seconds there's absolutely no reason not to use it to close distance (unless the Killer struggles with tracking).
-
Basekit Nemmy is completely fine imo, but Marvin's Blood gets him to tiers 2 and 3 insanely quickly. And every Nemesis runs it along with Licker Tongue because all his other add-ons are pretty bad. Also the visual feedback on his tentacle doesn't quite match the hitbox.
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
but that what makes a strong killer. strong catch-up. if survivor do end up getting their way where bat form becomes very niche/irrelevant than will wolf form be omega buffed? will hug tech come back? i don't know but i feel like dracula will not be strong killer if his main form, bat form doesn't transition well into his other forms. that is like his entire gimmick/gameplay loop.
The problem is that pretty much any other Killer's catch-up tool has limitations. Spirit has to charge hers up, she still acknowledges windows and pallets, limited use, and has a long cooldown to her only power. Blight also has to play around pallets and windows, has a cooldown, can only bump 5 times, can't turn sharp corners and has a 2.5 second fatigue whether he hits or not. Singularity's power is completely negated by EMPs, etcetera.
Dracula just ignores anything the Survivor puts between them, has barely any cooldown or limitation and can use his other abilities right after.
And for your other point, map mobility is an incredible thing for a killer to have regardless of how it plays in chase so I don't think it ever be irrelevant. But also: it should not be completely useless for catching up, but not as effective as it is at the moment either, because it's pretty uninteractive.
-
If it's a horror-themed character like Scarecrow? Sure, it's pretty fitting.
Not quite horror but still darkly themed, like a spooky interpretation of Joker? I wouldn't really mind.
Something which is just a straight-up standard superhero/villain like Lex Luthor or Magneto? Now you've lost me.
-
Chucky, Trapper, Freddy, Clown, Knight, Twins and Plague. I'm thankful that only one of these is common lol
Also if we got the REAL Freddy I wouldn't mind him nearly as much
-
Tbf, assuming the user can last at least 30 seconds in two chases throughout the game, they still get to block the killer's aura reading 4 times. And that's on top of knowing what aura reading perks they have. I don't think it should be able to completely deny a Killer's aura reading for the whole match.
-
It's a pretty decent perk, but I wouldn't buy Vecna just for that.
If it makes it into the upcoming patch, Genetic Limits (Singularity's perk) will now Exhaust any Survivor who loses a heath state from any means, with no cooldown. I'd wait and see if it becomes a better alternative.
-
I think it's fine to have a few killers who lean on the edge of horror. But I don't want it to become a Fortnite-like as you said, where there's too much focus on bringing in new licences and not enough on creating cool killers who fit DbD's aesthetic.
I wouldn't have any issue with a Terminator chapter as long as there was some proper horror surrounding it. It was pretty scary for its time (I heard) and the Terminator itself fits the bill for a Killer really well.
-
Looking back, a lot of people saying "the game is meant to be scary" were kind of missing the point.
Phobias aren't just spooky moments like a Ghostface jumping out or Michael stalking from a distance.
Phobias are deeply rooted and fill people with various negative emotions, ranging from disgust, sickness, or overwhelming terror. If there's a particular killer or aesthetic which stops a player from being able to functionally play the game with no way to mitigate or avoid it (besides DC or don't play), there's a problem.
I do sympathise with Behaviour though since there isn't an easy solution.
-
Super quick summary:
- Haunted by Daylight from last year is coming back and got a lot of changes. The biggest is a well in the void where survivors can get smoke bombs and killers can get projectiles.
- 2v8 is returning with more killers and survivors such as Deathslinger and Blight. Survivors also get new abilities like rebuilding pallets.
- Bunch of skins (including the Design a Cosmetic contest winners and upcoming tome).

Thankfully these concerns arent gonna be considered since Dracs Tome and legendary skin they NEED to make money from so he guaranteed wont be nerfed also Dracs Cycle of updates are finished so hes at the back of the line for a year or two Devs are to busy with Freddy and Skull Merchants reworks atm
Nah he'll get his changes early next year. That's how BHVR operates post-killer release, they wait for 6 months for the stats and playerbase to settle then make adjustments. Take Unknown for example (released in March, getting his 6-month changes now).
If a killer is super problematic they might get changes sooner but I don't think Dracula hits that mark. I do think bat form is too strong and will get some changes when the time comes though. -
He's leaning into needing a nerf imo, particularly changing to/from bat form seems way too fast right now. He definitely doesn't suck.
Consistent 4ks are still a pretty good result though. -
Best advice I can give is look around before nightfall and judge where he might come from and where you can run to. And if you're injured, heal ASAP. Not only does being injured make you an easy target when nightfall activates, it also charges it faster. Outside of nightfall his power's pretty mediocre.
That being said I'vr heard nightfall is much more miserable to play against on console, and like all stealth killers he's much stronger on indoors maps.
-
Grab EMPs. If you see a yellow box, the EMP has printed as much as it automatically can. It doesn't take long to finish and grab. If you or a nearby survivor is infected, use it. Otherwise, just hold onto it. If he infects you while he's far away, block line of sight with the camera to stop him from teleporting and use the EMP on it and yourself.
I've been seeing him a lot lately and I just think that's because people realised Survivors forgot how to play against him.
