Weird take:
The LEAVE MATCH button should be replaced with a QUIT GAME button. So if you leave, it is the same effect as crashing to desktop.

Huh? DH did not work ALL the time, it failed majority of the time. A situational modifier like Lithe? You mean windows? Which are in almost every tile of the map? Yea the situational modifier for DH, if were using your logic, was that you had to be injured to use it, and if you failed, you went down.
DH didn't need the be touched, they listened to bad killers calling for it b/c their egos were bruised and even experienced/well known killer mains defended DH and agreed. There's a big contrast and skill difference from some of the killers I see on here claiming DH nerf was justified versus actual great killers who win 95% of their matches regardless of DH. You see only the handful of times it is pulled off properly, you coincidentally ignore all the times it fails or the server decides you didn't use it in time despite getting the exhaustion effect.
No, being injured was not a situational modifier because it was an organic part of the game that is going to happen anyways. It ALSO doesn't have a limited window of its use.
When a perk works ON BUTTON COMMAND, that is far more powerful than needing a window, or a height to fall from.
People claim Dead Hard rarely ever works, yet I was swinging into it 2-3 times PER MATCH so I guess the failure rate ain't THAT BAD.
Dead Hard needed to be taken out back and shot, because it was in every single game and gave Survivors the ability to completely negate a chase and get a free speed boost to start the looping process ALL... OVER... AGAIN.
That is broken, and insanely unhealthy for the game.

It’s not fair because people don’t want to learn to counter blight? Considering I’ve got 1,xxx alch rings; I could run one every game comfortably if I wanted to. But I don’t, I run meme builds or perkless / addonless, and they still give up nonetheless.
It's... a Blight. You can run completely with no perks and no add ons and a "show me the basement at the start of the game" offering, and people would still not wanna deal with it.

I'd still rather have off the record because in that time frame it's guaranteed to work .....
They've said they changed it to help tunnelling so that means the killer is going straight back for the survivor off hook so I say again. Why would I go for the perk that has a very good chance of not working/get baited out by a half decent killer.
If they want to make it this situational then they should change the timing back to the old deadhard with the movement
If you have a preference, that's fine. But to act like there's no point to Dead Hard, or that it is "obsolete" is just false.
Off The Record has a timer that when completed becomes null and useless. Dead Hard and sit and wait until the prime moment and can create a late game clutch play.

Lithe and balanced landing need a window or a drop which is very easy to setup 99% of the time and you know for a fact its going to work for you.
Dead hard you have to time PERFECTLY and even then sometimes it's not going to work, why would you even attempt it when you can just use off the record which will GUARANTEE a free hit.
Because you lose Off the Record on a Conspicious Action. Dead Hard never times out or shuts itself off for non-use.

That's just way too situational, they've not nerfed it they've just made it obsolete 😂
It's supposed to be situational. The problem with old Dead Hard was it worked all the time. It needed a situational modified the way Lithe, Balanced Landing, etc do.
-
11 out of 10 games? Incredible.
-
A mechanic designed to limit how often you can use a perk is being used in a way to promise a second use of it. Yeah, that doesn't exactly scream "intended use".
-
It's not the Sprint Burst that is the issue, it's exploiting the 99ing mechanic.
-
So you keep buying them in the bloodweb.

As much as I loathe this perk as much as Sideshow Bob hates Bart, I need to point out you know EXACTLY who does not have Dead Hard:
If you have not hooked them, they don't have it.

I face those kind of squads like in 1 out of 100 games. You have to be very unlucky facing them often.
I would gladly trade with you. Maybe it is a time of night thing, since I play on average from 1AM to 5AM, but yes.... I get one about every four hours or so.
So I 100% don't buy the whole "This is a small minority!" argument.

I mean in what you said earlier you said there is a Survivor doing a gen:
"2.) I count people that do tactics like "The two of us will coordinate Head On stuns around Shack, and Dave will be right behind us with a flashlight. We'll just have one person do gens"."
Yes there are more effective strategies out there, but its still a strategy.
I was quoting the game in question I played last night. The point is, only the person on the gen was doing the objective. The other three were not "engaging a strategy", they were screwing around. In games were all four of them are doing it (and yes, I've seen plenty of those games, too), then no one is further any objective.
All I am seeing is you reaching really hard to justify playing as dirty as possible in ways that aren't even the objective.
-
The correct change to Dead Hard is the one where I never have to see it ever again.
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3393224#Comment_3393224
But stopping the killer from doing their objective also aids them in doing their own by buying them more time.
So yes it is a strategy whether you like it or not
This would be true if said objective is actually taking place. A killer that forces a hook state is factually doing his objective. The bully squad might be, if someone actually on a gen is doing something. And in either case, they aren't doing it for the objective. Everyone knows the gen rush is better, faster, and more efficient. This is just more misery inducing, and that is the point.

1) It is, but even then a small chunk of that "specific breed" are a VERY small chunk
2) Thats literally just a strategy. Its like saying a killer who tunnels and camps is simply doing it to piss people off and is a bully.
3) See point 2.
FALSE.
It is not "just as strategy" because the Killer is actually doing his objective. This is a false equivalency because you don't power exit gates with stuns.

1) That specific "breed" (assuming youre talking about those with over 2k hours) is a sizeable chunk of the community
2) It is a VERY small amount, unless you count every one who brings a flashlight, head on, dead hard or says "gg ez" in chat. In that case thats a you problem
3) Same applies to that "specific breed" you mentioned before
1.) Yes, it IS.
2.) I count people that do tactics like "The two of us will coordinate Head On stuns around Shack, and Dave will be right behind us with a flashlight. We'll just have one person do gens".
3.) That specific breed isn't playing the game normally, they are playing the game to troll. That's the difference. That crew is not trying to get four unhooks in one game or coop heal four survivors.

Alright so let me get this out of the way first. Are there people who play the game simply to make the other side miserable? Absolutely, but they are without a doubt a VERY small but loud minority. Now that the obvious is out of the way, let me explain how wrong this whole thing is.
As some one with over 5.5k hours, who plays roughly a 80/20 split in favor of killer, and whos favorite aspect of Survivor is the chase. I just simply like the competition of competing against another person. I could give less of a ######### if their ego is so fragile that they get that offended that they got beat in a silly little video game. This doesnt go for DbD either, whether its For Honor, Overwatch, or Minecraft. I just want to outplay my opponent in a way that I enjoy playing.
Survivors arent these absolutely foul people you love to make them out to be, theyre the same people you see walking around on the side of the street or sitting on the bus.
Like I seriously dont understand why DbD tries to victimize and villainize its own community. Its seriously not that deep, people will be people and try to rub it in when they come out on top. Doesnt matter what it is, as long as theres competition there will always be banter.
Now if you TRULY believe that Survivors are just these little demons who are simply out there to get you. Nothing is stopping you from playing against bots.
A lot wrong here.
1.) I never said all Survivors. I called out a specific breed of them.
2.) It's not a small minority if I encounter them every night. And I don't play at high MMR.
3.) No, actually I can't play against bots because bots don't earn BP or clear challenges. To me the human element is irrelevant, I want the full scope of the game.

Player strategies should be a factor in building a killer power, not their add-ons.
If a Huntress with Iridescent Head wants to camp, fine. Do your gens and leave. Same proper gameplay response to any camper. This is not really different from a camping Bubba.

This is probably such a minor thing but I think a feature that would be nice is a message similar to what blizzard does in letting you know someone you reported has been punished. It seems like a little thing but it really makes it feel like you are actually helping clean the community when encountering toxic players or hackers. I dunno I might be alone on this but I think going through these games with different forms of just blatant toxic players and hackers that just aren't hiding it anymore would be a lot easier if from time to time I at least have been acknowledged that a report I made mattered and not feeling like its just screaming into a void. I understand toxicity at times could be subjective but I think there are pretty clear cases of just pure toxicity where no one benefits anything strategically and its just purely for the sake of being toxic as well as people doing their hardest in post game chats to work around the filter to spew their toxicity.
Outside of actual cheating, I don't see how many reports can be objectively true. Even thinks like bodyblocking in the corner or refusing to do gens comes with a vague sense of nonspecific durations to them.

What happened to the player performance thread that had more pages than the Bible? Deleted or just buried?

You want unhooked Survivors to get the golden star from Mario Brothers?
Um... no.
-
I am 100% against any add-on that has a skill gate on it. Absolutely not to the 16m requirement.
Add-ons are supposed to HELP gameplay, not punish you for not being a crack shot. This add on is great for Ralph and Coconut, this add on blows for Timmy who started playing this week.
Add-ons should be good for everyone, regardless.

Jane was the weakest link, she didn't bother healing and kept touching gens while the rest of the team abused CoH on RPD. It's an absolutely disgusting map to play on, it's akin to a herculean task to score a single kill on there.
Dude, what? RPD is one of my best killer maps. While there are a few choice god pallets many are avoidable, and it is super easy to create dead zones. The entire front of the building is a dead zone with ONE pallet/
Are you telling me you'd rather be on a corn map?
-
To me this is a game of stealth, not chases.
Chases are the results of stealth FAILURE. They are not go-to default gameplay. There is no incentive to chase as a Survivor. The only time it is a good idea to get into a chase ON PURPOSE is if you are protecting a teammate that has more hook states than you.
Dead By Daylight is "a deadly game of hide and seek". Developers own words. It is not advertised as "a deadly game of ring around the rosie of the same pickup truck 6 times".

No, most survivors wouldn't play if the killer is an NPC.
Most of their fun comes from mocking and harrassing another person. If they're doing it to an AI, they'll just go play minecraft or something. That's why survivors get so pissed when they lose and gloat when they win. Its not fun for them unless they make someone else not have fun.
Edit: By survivors I mostly mean SWF
You said the quiet part out loud.
They don't want to admit it out loud, but a big portion of the high-hours DBD community (2K+) play it to induce misery. They are "bored of holding M1 on a gen", and they -

The fun of the game is in chases. I look for the killer and run him, let the others do gens
... adopt this mentality. Then they bring Flashlights, Dead Hard, Head-On, and try to be as horrible as possible. If the killer was a bot, that sucks all the joy out of it. This is why the term "bully squad" is accurate. When you come into the game trying to have fun at the expense of someone else, you are totally bullying and you tell on yourself when you say you won't play against a bot. Oh sure, some people will hide behind "Well, I want the difficulty of playing against a human opponent", but you can easily make a bot ten times harder than any human. If you "just wanted to try out a fun build", you don't need a human to do that. But THEY do. They want to frustrate, they want to upset, and then they want to teabag in the exit gates and leave messages in the end game chat.
This is why I do not play in, nor do I want to play in, high MMR games. There's no reward, and the percentage of matches with these sorts go up.
-
Why are we attacking a perk that literally starts the game doing absolutely nothing and you have to earn with every single hit, while at the same time punishing you for using it on 25% of the enemy team?
-
Every single Wesker tunnels off the hook. I've literally never faced one that didn't.
-
@Mystic_Mizu said:
Just use Corrupt Intervention, it helps a lot.
The answer to every problem in the game should not be "lose 25% of your perk loadout".
That said, I think the solution is not they spawn too close to gens, it's that MULTIPLE Survivors spawn too close to gens. All they need to is force all four Survivors to spawn together, and if you want to split up you need a Shroud offering. Having the entire team on different gens in 6 seconds is the problem.

Flashlights work fine now. Sounds like you just miss flashlight clicking.

Knock Out suffers from being one of those perks that GREATLY differs between Solo Queue and SWF play.
Solo Queue: You rot on the ground.
SWF: "I went down." - "I can't see where you went down." - "I'm under shack pallet." - "Oh, okay. Be right there."

I think the perk becomes oppressive as the game goes on, and hooks happen more often and you are desperately trying to finish the gens, but each hook is setting you back to the point of unsustainability, and then your team just runs out hooks and dies.

Well the macro in this game isn't that crazy and chase is probably the only real skillful thing on survivor. So If I get out because the killer couldn't follow me through 4 LoS breakers and lucky break over come I wouldn't feel anything. It's why I hate gen kick meta, commit and kill me not hit me and kick gen. I want to improve at chase not have my skill suffer due to these perks on both sides.
This mindset is only a problem if you are locked into the "chases are the only fun part of the game" rhetoric.

I mean yeah shadow borne is boring but so are many perks by that standard. Lucky break, shadowstep and distortion all deny/end potential chases which is just not fun for either side by my standard. If you happen to get away due to any of these perks then the chase is just over, neither party won.
I consider not getting seen by the killer because my Distortion saved me to be an absolute win.
-
Wiggling is not for free escapes.
Wiggling is to prevent killers from abusing a dead zone. Without it you could rain all pallets and resources in one corner, and even break a hook on a sacrifice, but then keep downing people there and taking them elsewhere.

I’m a survivor and killer main, and the only reason being a killer is so fun is because you can actually win games. Being a survivor is like being a chicken in a pen with a lion. It’s not fair how survivor perks are being nerfed constantly and killers are being buffed. I’ve played about 5 games today as a survivor and won in NONE of them. But as a killer, I win several games in a row. It’s like bullying a bunch of kids that can’t do anything and have no defense. I really dislike it.
I wish complaints like this were not fabricated in falsehoods.
More Killer perks were nerfed in this update than Survivor. All three of the best Killer slowdowns were gutted.
Survivors lost... the most broken perk in the history of this game... and removed Circle of Healing's solo heal.

omggggg hahahahaha also one of the reasons why you should get away from dbd xD not exactly the most intelligent community in the gaming scene, dead is meant here "nothing going on, almost only negative and bad experiences" Albert NoStone standard player in dbd xDD sometimes I really wonder if in dbd it's not all bots that would explain a lot
A dead game is a game that has little to no player activity and a small to nonexistent player base. "Dead game" has had this definition since live service games were invented.
