"So since killers are getting ran into the ground with every nerf, what's gonna happen now?"

And forgets the tons of Buffs Killers received and all the Nerfs Survivors got...

    False equivalency fallacy:

False equivalence is a logical fallacy in which two incompatible arguments appear to be logically equivalent when in fact they are not. This fallacy is categorized as a fallacy of inconsistency.

Killer nerfs tend to have more of an impact on the game then survivor's as most if not all survivor nerfs were optional addons/Map spawns.

While killer nerfs are unavoidable if you'd want to play the killer as they are non optional for the most part Ex: While nurse addon nerfs is the equal to instant heals her base kit nerfs is not.

I won't argue with that, to be honest. However, I doubt the fun has been completely removed. Sure, people have to try harder to get kills, but that's what playing killer does. It gives you a rush of satisfaction when your plans come together. If they don't, there's always next game.

I can understand that they're catering to lower survivors, but they're still keeping in mind that people actually know how to play the game at higher ranks.

Fun is subjective thus your idea of fun doesn't always apply to everyone.

Some people don't want to play competitively in this casual game as killer which makes the ruin nerfs paradoxical:

They nerfed it so casual survivors can escape more easily while also driving out casual killers which then hurts the survivor's due to que times.

  • @Lucama said:

I wonder what the response from survivors would be if there was a situation in the game where every survivor goes straight into struggle when hooked, and the devs said "just don't not having the first hook, focus on not getting hooked twice".

And for the record, that's less % of the Killer's objective than 2 generators are for the survivor's objective.

So your saying the survivors get their own equivalent of an ebony mori at random in games(Remember mori's ultimately mean you die on second hook) just due to map spawns?

That is effectively what giving up 2 gens is giving survivors their equivalent of an ebony mori.

My only problem with The Hillbilly is about his movement with the chainsaw. He can just go from one side of the map to the other, very fast, with no real cooldown period. This, paired with chilly, for example, makes him a very good killer, but no other killer can do that. Sure, Freddy can teleport to gens or Demo can use portals, but both of them have cooldowns and are tied to something, while Hillbilly is not. I would either shorten the distance he can travel with the chainsaw or put a cooldown on it, but the second option would actually impact his hits on a chase, so I think shorten the distance would be a better choice.

Your main issue with billy is the entire point of billy.

He's expose to be the fast one out of combat while being looped into oblivion as a M1 killer as he can't realistically use his chain saw in most loops other then to break pallets slightly faster then normal.

If you remove his mobility he becomes a worse bubba.

If its put on a cooldown then he's a worse oni.

I agree with you totally. Very well thought out post, you put the argument across really well.

Firstly I need to clarify that this isn’t a co-ordinated campaign to get killers nerfed. I know it looks bad after Spirit and Nurse got hit but the DBD community is not a hive mind we all have our own opinions. I was actually defending Spirit before her nerf on other websites however I’ve always thought Billy needed a nerf. As for Nurse I was in the camp that would have been happy if they just tweaked her add ons. People that wanted Spirit and Nurse nerfed aren’t always the people that want Hillbilly nerfed.

As you say Hillbilly is probably the easiest to use out of all the strongest killers. He has too much strength for how easy he is to use. Nurse takes practise and Spirit is slow, Hillbilly is a bog standard killer so lag and bloodlust mean even if the player isn’t a pro he should still be able to do relatively well. Add to that his extreme mobility and camping potential.

I’m glad you mentioned he has the potential to be the strongest. It’s that potential that is the problem. Hillbilly can put a survivor into the dying state faster than anyone else in the game. Will he always do it? No, but it happens more frequently than you think. Just zoom over to a survivor, catch them out of position and then instadown. The fact that a killer can have a survivor on the floor 15-20 seconds into the game is absolutely ridiculous.

His snowball potential is too high and too frequent too. He has no cooldown on his mobility or instadown. So at a moments notice he can instadown one survivor, sprint across the map and then instadown another and suddenly the survivor team is in a lot of trouble. These kind of situations happen far more with Hillbilly than any other killer.

Theres no respite in a Hillbilly game. He zooms on top of you within seconds and you better pray you’re next to a pallet otherwise you’re going down. Then he just swings and swings and swings that instadown until he hits you because theres barely any punishment to missing it. If you manage to make distance he just chainsaw sprints back to you and then its swing, swing, swing with the chainsaw again. There’s no break for the entire game.

Oni was a much better design. He zooms around the map slugging survivors and building pressure like Hillbilly.....but then he goes on cooldown, and it buys the survivors a chance to make a counter attack. Theres a better flow there.

Hillbilly needs something so that he cant zoom anywhere he wants with no cooldown and then just keep swinging the chainsaw until he hits someone. Either give him a stamina meter or something so he cant go from one side of the map to the other and then immediately back again, or give him more of a penalty for chainsaw misses or slow him down a bit while charging like Leatherface.

Bubba being able to instantly down everyone in 1 second means he will always have the highest downing power potential in the game.

Even oni has a higher downing potential then billy having effectively the same charge + it has AoE.

Saying billy has the highest downing potential is always going to be factually wrong as long as there is AoE instant downs.

Also billy does have a CD of about ~2.5 seconds after he charges as he has to wait for his chainsaw to finish swinging slowly and de-rev.

I do however agree that him missing his chainsaw short range(Less then 2 seconds into his charge) should put him on a longer CD but him chainsawing you from the other side of the map while in the open moving in a straight line is your own fault.

So how about this nerf compromise: Billy's ability bar is red while within the first 2 seconds of his charge.

If Billy misses hit chainsaw(But didn't bump into a wall/pallet) while his bar is in the red he should stumble making him have the same ~4-5 second cooldown as if he did bump into a wall to stop billies from being too greedy with instant down saws.

It doesn't stop his mobility(His main gimmick) but does help punish overly greedy billies who try to constantly fish for only instant downs.

Edit: When I say Cooldown I mean his self stun where he can't do anything

    Oh brother..

Ok killers are getting genrushed in 3 mins every game and the devs did it partly just to rake in survivor cosmetic money and partly because they like to troll killer players.

That seems to be all thats ever posted on here. It MUST be true!

Not trying to be rude but: It holds about as much water as your statements as both have equal amounts of evidence.

    Oh the irony.

Thats all that killer mains are doing right now. Complaining about gen times because they cant win games.

I have stats to back up my arguments thats the difference.

@Warcrafter4 But killers were complaining gens were too fast at the time those stats were released. They were way off then, nothing to say they arent way off now.

Besides the devs have commented on here that they predict there wont be much difference. Do you really think they would have changed the perk if they thought it would severely unbalance the game?

So you have no proof while claiming you do...

Also the devs flatout said removing ruin was to remove survivor frustration. There was NO balance considerations made.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1025602#Comment_1025602

The devs have posted the stats themselves and I’ve seen them post on here that every killer is getting at least 2 kills on average.

I just had a game with purple ranks who got butchered by a green rank. These survivors were just going down constantly and often times together. It was only when the killer chased me that it bought them time to recover and get some work done. That isn’t the exception - its the norm for these games, but you don’t hear me complaining about how hard it is to win.

Ask Peanits or Almo about the stats. Have you not even read anything they have been explaining recently?

I have double checked and found them referring too the November statistics NOT current statistics.

There is no dev proof given as of yet (I have seen a dev post saying they are coming though) about the post ruin nerf killer KRs

Ah, then yes. Totally possible for a gen to get done in under a minute solo. Assuming perfect conditions of course.

    Not even perfect conditions:

    1. at the beginning of the game most killers can only pressure 1 survivor. So the others are left uncontested for however long the chase lasts for.
    2. This WASN'T counting the 2% bonus progression on great skill checks PER CHECK.
    3. This isn't even on maxed out speed or toolbox efficiency just the simplest example math wise.
    4. In reality with the other unshown factors this can easily be down to ~42-5 seconds in a normal game.
    1. You claim stats say killer is performing ok so please show us.
    2. This entire thread is based on personal experience which everyone has differently.

With the way match making is its impossible to tell what is the "average" experience sense "Rainbow" matches or matches vs people over 10 ranks higher then you are a thing right now.

Also everyone who says they get gen rushed by people ten ranks higher then them with proof have more valid statements then this.

How often do you see an Engineer's with socket swivels, plus Prove Thyself in a game? I've played about 10ish games and have only seen Commodious'. 3 gens in under a minute is possible, but only if the Killer is AFK and has zero tracking or gen perks. Like, Discordance? Corrupt? Hell, even Ruin and Surveillance.

The OP is implying that every game he has gotten has had this in it. Either he is extremely unlucky, or he is exaggerating. I think it is likely that he chased a Survivor into a god loop (pls remove) and wasted a minute and a half chasing him. Then, by the time you down and hook him, you've lost three gens.

My numbers were off in the original post. It is certainly possible to lose 3 gens, assuming the Survivors are perfect and bring the best equipement and you apply pressure on one Survivor.

Dude I wasn't even responding to you or the OP someone else said it was impossible for a solo gen to get done in under a min and wanted to see the math.

So I did show him that its both possible while also showing math behind it.

I said nothing on likely it is to happen just that it is possible.

You're right that matchmaking has a part to play in the effectiveness of the ranking system, but since OP never mentioned the ranks of their opponents, suggesting that uneven matchmaking played a part in the above scenario is pure speculation.

I am more saying that using it as a blanket statement where we don't know if match making even worked properly isn't a very credible statement.

Normally I'd completely agree about ranked doing is job but right now the statement's validity is shaky at best simply due to circumstances outside of our control.

Edit: I forgot to mention this but I am playing devil's advocate.

  • @Fibijean said:

I'm not saying the new Ruin changes were good or necessary - I'm personally not a big fan of them - but not pipping doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with the design of the game. On the contrary, it means that the ranking system is actually doing its job for once and keeping you at the rank you're theoretically meant to be at according to how well - or at least, how effectively - you're playing.

You have posted on threads showing how a lot of killers are getting into lobbies with people over 6-10 ranks above them.

I don't think this statement can ever be fair until matchmaking is fixed.

If they were experiencing the before mentioned rank difference then no rank would actually failing them as people MUCH higher then them deranking them lower then they should be.

  • I'd say trapper but all he really needs is the brown bag add on to be baseline.

But legion needs to be thrown a bone(Buffed) as they are fun to play but survivors complain too much for the devs to ever let them be very good(They STILL aren't at pre-nerf speed).

  • @DragonOfPain said:

You sure? Because the Original BNP Fixes the Gen in 1 second upon using it..

I know it could be less but they still would to have had fixed one gen normally + running to other gens even with 4 BNP's.

It could be shorter as something is telling me in my head 43 seconds but I don't fully recall.

  • Depends on if your asking with or without BNP because with pre-nerf BNP its something like 52 seconds for all 5 being done.

It’s not possible, please show me the Math on how that is possible

Simple engineer's toolbox is 25% faster:

    80/1.25= 64 seconds.

engineers+ socket swivles is 40% faster

    80/1.40 =57.14.

Even without prove thy self speed buff engineers + socket makes it less then 1 min.

I define strength in terms of raw potential, not in terms of how that potential is realised on particular maps. I don't and never have ignored the fact that Nurse suffers on maps like Sanctum of Wrath, I just don't take external variables into account when assessing the strength of a killer.

I also didn't mention anything about balance, so I'm not sure why you're talking as though you're refuting one of my points in that last sentence of your comment.

    Here's a question for you:

Should there be a killer who can only be realistically played by the top 10 players in the world to begin with? If so then please explain why?

  • You're literally not meant to be able to stealth around the doctor without calm spirit as its the point of the character is that instead of something that helps him down people faster(Ex billy's saw) he gets detection and pallet/item interrupts.

  • It hasn't even been 2 full days and people are already complaining about the new doctor.

  • @VexTheHex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1023105#Comment_1023105

Wouldn't Mori (they are the closest thing to old BNP alive in the game), instant hatchets, and instant down camping all fall under exploits as well then? You call BNP and old sabotage a exploit, but these things are also deal breakers.

Here's one thing though: None of those can flatout make the game unwinnable just a lot harder.

Both pre-nerf sabotage and BNP can both pervent the killer from being able to win so they are exploits.

PS: There's a reason why I don't have keys on here and thats because they need 3 gens done before they can win the game for the survivors. Meaning the killer CAN STILL WIN against keys unlike the above 2.

Same logic for the keys applies to moris as they don't stop survivors from winning because they require a hook thus just simply removes 1 hook strike ultimately.

  • @VexTheHex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022791#Comment_1022791

No. But people like to pretend things haven't been nerfed on Survivor side. Sabotage is gutted, almost useless now. It went from godly to ant sized.

I wouldn't call it a killer buff as its more or less removing an exploitable mechanic that should never have been in the game to begin with.

Same goes for the BNP nerfs as prenerf BNP let survivors get all 5 gens powered within the first min(People have timed) of the game no matter what the killer did if they played it properly. It being nerfed was more removing an exploit rather then buffing killers as well.

  • So the killers mains were right all along!

    Color me surprised.

But in all Seriousness this shouldn't be a shock to anyone as the less time killers have to do things the more aggressive they HAVE to be to be able to win.

  • @Elegant said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022727#Comment_1022727

Getting to red ranks is time based and not skill based. It's incredibly easy to get to red ranks if you play the game enough. Also, read my post talking about the statistics that I already talked about. It's super simple and I shouldn't have to explain it, but I did anyway since people are somehow confused. The stats for kills that the devs released don't take skill into account. For a hard to play killer that people don't invest time into, their average kills are going to be lower and bring the overall average down

By this logic everything your saying can also be treated completely false as we don't know how the nurse or anyone else is at highest possible performance thus making any claims that she is #1 killer irrelevant as they cannot be proved.

  • @VexTheHex said:

Sabotage murdered, MOM murdered, Gen time increase, Gate time increase, better totems spawns on new maps, Hag buffs, Trapper buffs, Wraith buffs, Freddy reworked stronger, Doc reworked stronger, DS reworked, BT tinkered with, Exhaustion changes, BL nerfs, window blocking mechanic, less pallets, less safe loops, doors on Haddonfield on 2nd floor instead of windows, etc.

I'm tired of the same old "Devs never buff Killers and nerf Survivors" argument.

You mean things like sabotages being permanent that could make the game LITERALLY UNWINNABLE FOR THE KILLER.

Remember people did sabotage all hooks in the past making it so if people didn't go down near the basement/the killer not having BOTH iron grasp/agitation they couldn't hook anyone anymore and it was abused commonly by SWF for free wins.

    Are you really defending that?

  • @Elegant said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022645#Comment_1022645

You didn't read a single thing I posted or you didn't comprehend it. Idk which. I already said nurse is still the best killer in the game. But her design is horrible and needs to be changed. She's boring to vs and boring to play as. Also, if you think the base blink change needs to be reverted you are delusional and not worth having further discussion with.

I love how you still say these even though red rank statistics prove otherwise as we can assume any killer who can stay in red ranks to be the best of the best from what information we can have.

So according to the red rank info(the current Gold standard) from the best nurse killers she is still bottom 3.

Either the statistics are wrong or you are.

  • Ok how about this one at red ranks aka what should be the best of the best:

    KillRatesRedRanks.png

She is STILL bottom 3(Huntress is slightly higher) with what should be the best players in the game handling her.

So to people who have learned her enough to play and stay at red ranks she STILL under performs compared to most killers.

  • @Elegant said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1021872#Comment_1021872

She's still stronger than spirit and in no way was it an over nerf. Of course spirit is significantly easier and the average player will perform better on spirit. But, nurse is still a stronger killer with higher potential for great nurse players.

Dude even by the dev's own low balled standards she is under performing having about a 47.5-48% average KR meaning even with the devs VERY low standards for KR she needs a buff.

    KillRatesAllRanks.png

Also I know these statistics are dated but they are also the most recent ones.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe they have released the statistics on their use.

it was just a joke meme and i do recall myself saying take out toolboxes and leave only for sabotaging so some people cant then complain

Its really hard to tell on these forums as some people legit believe gen rushes don't/never existed despite there being constant proof to the contrary.

  • This person clearly has never seen a 4 toolbox death squad as they probably have never played killer long enough to see one.

Also remember it was possible in the past(when the term was made) To have ALL 5 generators done in under 60 seconds(Band New Parts have been nerfed MULTIPLE times because of it) no matter what the killer did so to say they don't/never existed is ignorant.

  • I'd honestly would feel more vindicated then anything else as the only thing that will kill it will be the devs themselves.

It would be a prime example along with evolve on how to NOT balance a 4 v 1(Aka making the 4 being the power roll).

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1019900#Comment_1019900

It’s factually easier to rank up as killer between ranks 16-10 than it is as survivor. Most killers will 2 pip in those games, whereas survivor all depends on killer ability.

Its normally red ranks where things start to change because survivors get solid teammates and killers get solid opponents....however I think the new rank reset is changing that.

I understand your frustrations but as you get more experienced with the game you may see things in a different light.

Clicky we have been down this road before and what your saying is factually wrong.

The reach rank 10 survivor achievement is twice as common then the killer reach rank 10 killer.

  • Match making is imploding atm.

    Its happening to everyone.

  • @VexTheHex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1018674#Comment_1018674

"Just a little" shouldn't equate to "I can't play without it."

You guys need to accept either it was a lot stronger than you gave it credit for (meaning the nerf does hurt) or it was weak and the nerf shouldn't be the end all.

It can't be pathetically weak and needing buffs while also being so strong you can't live without it.

That or even slowing the game down slightly significantly helped killers like trapper and hag who literally have set up times to their abilities.

It being as slow as 30 seconds means a lot for them and its ignorant to ignore old ruin is better for some killers then others.

So for the people playing trapper and hag who can have gens pop before they can even set up + first chase then yes it was a "Can't play without it".

Also don't say use corrupt intervention as it doesn't really help those 2 even when it works(Its notoriously buggy).

  • I love how some of those are wrong(Like DS being a net neutral as killers can no longer bypass it) .

    or

where so blatantly overpowered you look silly for saying that nerfing them was killer sided such as Brand new parts used to instantly pop a gen so there are timed videos of exit gates being powered in under 60 seconds of the game starting.

  • Medkit simply because its almost always practical in a game without making the game too short.

Also when its not practical it tends to be a completely one sided game for the survivors or people fed michael tier 3 for the 3rd time that game.

  • @Endstille said:

Actually you should use all ranks since the red ranks stats only require a red rank killer who can play against green survivors and it will count in this statistic which is why killers have a higher kill rate there.

I know but its more for a :

Even to the dev's own standards and graph's he's not as they claim #1 killer.

Its more to stop the nerf preaching naysayers from saying :"What about red rank he is surely #1 there".

    Give me more information.

If I told you it was against survivors all running perks like Hope and We're Gonna Live Forever against killers with perks like Monstrous Shrine and Beast of Prey, would you believe me? Would you call that a good measure of a killer's power?

All I am asking is for statistics on perk, item and add-on builds to help expand on this data and make it more accurate. Is that too much to ask for?

I am sorry but those are questions for Peanits to answer as he has that info(This info is from https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/stats-november-2019#latest) so if you'd want that question answered ask him.

@WAR Killers not hard to rank up in either. None of the other killers in the game highlight this problem like Hillbilly does. I get what you’re saying but I still think Hillbilly is still slightly OP. I say this based on seeing him dismantle survivors time and time again over 1600 hours. There’s a real consistency there.

OK your clearly not listening so this will be my last comment on this:

What your saying I see happen nearly every game with Michael for me but rarely with billy.

Does that mean Michael is overpowered or does that mean that my teammates are boosted?

Remember even to the steam achievement charts getting rank 10+(currently 10.8% but fluxuates between 10.6 and 12.7 from what I have seen) for survivor is so common it isn't even considered a rare achievement while the killer equivalent is with roughly HALF(currently 6.0% but i have seen it fluctuate between 5.0 and 6.5%) as many people getting it.

Steam achievement statistics support that killer's ranks are in fact MUCH harder if not twice as hard to get.

Killer ranks are factually harder to get by all statistics I am sorry if you disagree with them but facts are facts.

But again....the Billys are the same rank or lower.

Billy does DESTROY the low ranks. I remember that from old rank resets. When anyone can pick him up at low ranks and 4 man 5 gen so easily theres a problem.

Even if these current red/purple ranks are boosted they should be doing better against green rank billys.

Again its the ranks again not billy

As someone who has gotten purple for both killer and survivor(Would have been red if survivor didn't begin to bore me) I can tell you its VASTLY easier to earn ranks as survivor then killer.

That means that killers at the same rank WILL ALMOST ALWAYS BE MORE SKILLFUL THEN THE SURVIVORS AT THE SAME RANK DUE TO THAT RANK BEING MUCH HARDER TO EARN.

The hillbillys have like half of that.

It shows that with vastly more experience you can overcome it. Just like people will run through dark souls with no armour and the worst weapon - because through time they gain the skill to overcome the handicap.

All this says to me is that Hillbilly is too easy for an average player to pick up and destroy other players of the same skill level. They can’t ALL be bad survivors, not every game.

If I went against a 4000 hour Billy like you see on Twitch I’m sure they would be less predictable and be able to mindgame me better and get me down quick. These hillbillys do very little of that yet still destroy.

Yes they can be bad survivors as the survivor ranks are so easy people who don't belong higher then yellows have been in my red ranked teammates...10 games in a row...

Your issue is it boils down to the survivor ranks is putting people who don't belong in higher up ranks against killers who do thus are vastly better then them.

TLDR: Your issues isn't with billy but survivor ranks/ques as a whole

    But this always happens.

Ok the first game the survivors weren’t too bad and the Billy played well. So we can accept that.

Next game Billy was wrecking the survivors seconds after hooking the previous. Bad survivors? Ok fair enough. He chases me and I looped him for so long. He wasn’t that special a Hillbilly. Quite medicore. They were all the same rank on the tally screen.

Next game again he’s downing them in seconds, I get him to chase me and I evade him a good number of times so he gives up. The survivors were all higher ranks than him this time. Bad survivors again? The Billy wasn’t that great either.

But this happens all the time. People are quick to say bad survivors but consistently? Every game it just happens to be bad survivors again and again and again?

and when the Billys chase me most of the time they aren’t anything special just mediocre.

Its that consistency that highlights the problem. No other killer does this yet game after game Billy is a one man wrecking crew.

They can’t all be bad survivors. The people playing Hillbilly are probably the same people going down to him. It should be averaging out across a number of games but it never does.

    Billy is “overperforming”.

Dude i have had the same thing happen with Michael AND wraith for about 4 games in a row due to people not respecting instant downs. It doesn't matter the killer this happens all the time.

Ranked is too forgiving for survivors to the point that most really shouldn't be at the rank that they are.

Also if your wondering I am in the same boat game wise VS those killers+ billy as I have literally looped them all from one corner of the map to the other at least once if not twice a game yet my teammates dropped like flies to them even wraith who doesn't have an instant down.

But that's because the killers were complete idiots. Try that ######### with me and everybody dies

The point was why its hated NOT why its good(Not saying its good).

Edit: Something can be bad and still be hated Ex. Dan from street fighter.

I’ll leave this here as an example..

So I had 3 games of survivor tonight. All 3 against a Billy. In every game survivors were going down seconds after the last was hooked. Its just sprint across catching them out of position and then instadown.

There were only 2 survivors in these 3 games that lasted more than seconds in a chase, myself and someone who ran Billy for a few gens in the first game (no Ruin).

In all these cases the survivors were either the same or higher rank than the killer.

Before I get any “git gud” comments I was holding my own in chases, but then I have over 1600 hours on the game.

This just goes back to what I was saying before that you NEED great survivors to beat a Billy. You need the survivors to have significantly more killer than the killer.

This is the very definition of OP. People are picking up this killer and destroying other people of similar skill levels so hard they can’t get any gen progress done. You need players of significantly higher skill to overcome that handicap.

This guy should have been nerfed way before Spirit.

Potato team mates are potato teammates and teammates doing bad saves are just doing bad plays.

I have seen the same(From the survivor perspective) of my teammates who don't respect teir 3 Michael, when exposed by Ghost face, or broken vs corrupt purge plague so your point doesn't stand if even sub pair killers like plague can do it(I love plague to death but she isn't very good).

If we nerfed every killer so even the worst survivor can beat them then what is even the point of having the killer to begin with?

Edit: The kill trades off of hooks is litterally made into a perk called "Make your choice" Which all killers can use.

If they do so, you can open the gate and force the EGC to start.

From my experience I am not always allowed to open the exit gates as a killer:

Some for obvious reasons like once you close the hatch you can no longer open the exit gates as EGC has started.

While other times I couldn't open the exit gates even if I wanted to.

So can I ask this: What are the conditions that prevent a killer from opening an exit gate?
