If they keep trying to entirely turn survivor gameplay into a skillcheck simulator then yeah it legitimately is on its way to die. The surv mains who are not interested in standing still hitting skill checks the whole game are gonna quit one by one only leaving the gen jockeys and their genrushing builds which in turn is going to be inciting plenty of killer mains to quit.
With how controversial the changes are, there is no way they go through with all of them.
DbD has been called dead/dying since its release and here we are, still playing.

Yeah, sitting on first gen and see someone placed on hook and they instantly try to kobe. My eyes just roll. GG killer.
Yep, or when they try to kobe when you crossed the map to unhook them.

I was actually playing Oni against someone with No Mither the other day.
Just had a match where 2 survivors prefered to repair a gen, while both being injured and of course, we played against Oni.
Sometimes my teammates give me headaches.

Someone suiciding on first hook. That determines the outcome of the match pretty clearly.

Coming from personal experience:
- Static, and end game is rather unappealing and unfruitful (charms don’t feel valuable enough to be a reward).
- Again: Static. The base game hasn’t changed a whole lot despite the games large lifespan, but this is more of a personal complaint.
- Rift feels like a chore to do. Doing one at a time feels exhausting, leaving the menu feels like an unnecessary journey. I don’t see why it shouldn’t just be auto-claimed
- A battle pass (something you have to pay for) feels like a band aid fix to an issue far deeper: the rewards for progression feel lackluster.
- Not enough content mechanically to keep the game fresh, especially since Killer popularity dies after the month or so of their launch. And we’re then left with the same slate for the next 2-5 months or so until the release of another chapter.
- No new game modes. Half of the time the event content is grab a rift and do a mini game or, just don’t die.
- Events don’t feel meaningful.
- Lack of characterization in survivors if at all. There’s nothing really fun going on between them, Renato and Lyra are a step on the right direction.
This right here is the answer to the thread.

I am seeking advice from experienced killers to indeed "git gud." Well, better.
I have under 4k kills and I've been playing killer maybe for 8 months or so. I truly don't know if this is good or average or low on the DBD scale..but the survs I face feel like very good, experienced (mostly) SWFs.
I was a Trapper main, but the teams started being too difficult with his current setup and so I switched to maining Plague months ago. She brings me more success, and I just love her.. but my teams are so good. It gets very stressful...
So I had a couple questions I hope maybe people can weigh in on...
-Is it pointless to use corrupt when using lethal?
I'm very sad to see scourge getting a change, as I typically run it w jolt...most good killers at this point, just say to tunnel..or camp...I don't like having to rely on this, I want to play...and have some kind of fun doing so...
I very much struggle at Ormond w Plague, for whatever reason, i've praticed on bots and for some reason in real matches, the entity brings me there almost every match (if survivors dont)..I have a hard time outplaying survivors there, because the map is just so big...any good tips for being able to have a successful Plague match there..without losing 3 gens during first chase? sigh it's very frustrating.
Thanks ahead of time for anyone who can provide positive tips or feedback!
- yes, pointless. Corrupt is a terrible perk. Lethal can be useful for full aura reading builds, but you would also require that perk slot corrupt is occupying.
- you can play without tunneling or camping, but it will get more stressful, as you are limiting yourself while the survivors probably wont limit themselves.

Of course they're low, when they have to compete with Dead Hard. Personally I prefer Lithe and Balanced Landing, but I'd also use Overcome if I had it.
Remember that time right after 6.1.0? Where everyone was convinced that DH was trash and people tested other builds? I saw all kinds of exhaustion perks back then. The other, lesser used perks needed a buff more than DH the nerf.
We went from one extreme to the next. Maybe its a better idea to meet in the middle. Nerf DH a little and buff the other exhaustion perks at the same time.

@Caiman said:

I disagree, the other Exhaustion perks are fine, healthy, and balanced, they shouldn't be touched (except Smash Hit). Dead Hard was the standout problem and needed to be hammered down. Now it can't be used repeatedly forever, but good survivors will still use it the same as before. The fact its omnipresence has been revoked means that it will eventually become easier to surprise killers with it, when they will have less reason to expect it every time.
Usage rate of the other exhaustion perks was... well... low. Like, i can´t remember that i´ve seen a different exhaustion perk than DH, Adrenaline, SB or Lithe. When there are more.

I think Killers, as a whole, will be MUCH stronger.
The VAST majority of players are extremely uncomfortable playing injured.
It's gonna be 2018 DBD but with the competitive mindset of 2023 DBD.
Nah, i don´t think so (and sorry for answering so late).
I see survivors repairing while injured in almost every match. If there is a progressed gen nearby and the hud indicates that someone is getting chased, that i guarantee you, that survivors will first finish the gen before healing.
-
While i think that DH was relatively fine before the change, i have to agree with @Coffeecrashing that its now a high risk, high reward perk. Which was a category seemingly only reserved for Hex perks till now. But its nice to see that more perks are added to this category.

Making OP perks not OP should help with variety.
I guess we'll see in a few days. (Once we get past the part where a bunch of players give-up and complain, like they did with the previous shake-up)
Tbh, i would have prefered a different approach by buffing the lesser used perks instead of nerfing the meta ones. Changing the meta by giving out more alternatives.
-
@Pulsar said:
I think these are some of the worst changes I've ever seen.
I agree.
DH, while still being the most used survivor perk, was actually in a good spot. Devs should have buffed the lesser used exhaustion perks instead.
The healing nerf will lead to 2 things, survivors repairing gens while injured and high mobility killers increasing their kill rate. The lower tier killers are still left in the dust and whats worse, they have now even less stuff to deal with gen rushes.
Dark times ahead.

That's not quite true. Jolt still exists, and I am not 100% convinced that PR is going to be bad after the nerf.
We'll see how effective it is to stay injured the entire match, but against killers with strong power, staying injured is very dangerous. Especially because survivors rely quite a bit on the speed boost they get after getting injured, it's one of the aspects that help them out in chase a lot to get into better positions. Being one shot takes that away.
The only thing that comes to my mind right now that might really become troubling is camping. They will absolutely have to increase the hook phase duration if they nerf healing like this, and I hope they will do so before the update goes live.
We haven´t seen the full list of changes. So Jolt might also getting hit hard.
On the other hand there is still We´ll make it. Which could be the new meta alongside Inner Healing. But since there are only 5 totems, We´ll make it would be the better choice for survivor.
But then again, we haven´t seen the full list of changes. So that might also change

Survivors playing more cautiously instead of in your face teabagging with body blocks and DH every few seconds? I don't see a downside...
This is what I've always been advocating for as a survivor. Less reckless, aggressive survivor play, that just tilts killers into playing scummy and results in either bully plays or hook snowballs due to reckless cocky behaviour.
I don´t think the reckless behavior will change. We´ll probably see a lot of suiciding survivors, just like what happened at 6.1.0
While i´m all in for making the game less toxic, this update won´t change it.

When gens already take 90 seconds, there's not much scope to increase them that much further. By prioritising gen rushing over healing, survivors leave themselves more vulnerable (doubly so with the limitations to DH), therefore it's up to the killer to capitalise on this, apply pressure to survivors, and slow down gens that way instead of relying on passive slowdown.
Which gets nullified by taking SB.
Without DH, we´ll see shorter chases. But survivors will start running earlier. So killers will either chase and take longer before the match considers it a chase or they will constantly break chases. Which would favorise rushing gens.
Maybe i´m to pessimistic. But i don´t look forward to the healing nerf.

To be fair, one difference is that Legion and Plague don't have a power if survivor choose to not heal. Other killers all do. Also, Plague is considered a pretty strong killer as far as I know. Especially after her last buffs.
But it could still become troublesome. I am still excited for the ptb, as drastic changes like these at least mix up DBD a bit more, which has become a bit stale for me lately.
I think it will be extremely troublesome. Survivors have become way better in repairing without healing. Now there are no slowdown perks left, so... yeah. I expect really, really short matches from now on.
-
@Pulsar said:
Hmmm.
Well, I suppose it'll be fun to return to how it all started for me. Back to 2018 DBD.
Resilence, Adrenaline, We'll Make It and an Exhaustion perk.
Let's go.
I think we had this before... healing nerf when killers struggled with gens.
This is truly a Deja Vu experience and will just end like the last time: Everyone gen rushes.
-
Killers struggled with gen defense, since all meta slowdown perks have been nuked. So in order to address this, they nerfed healing.
Now everyone will start to play without healing, like we did against Legion and Plague. Both killers are known for their exceptional high kill rate (oh wait...)
What could possibly go wrong?!

There already was one.
Killers did fine, they averaged out at 2.16 Kills. I think @zarr did a wonderful analysis of it.
Even with the game at its most Survivor-sided, 4-man comp SWF with 4 OLD DH's, BNPs, Green Medkits with Styptics or Syringes; Killers did well.
I´ll have to take a look.

I did find it ironic that after the first iteration of SBMM those same people started to complain about sweaty matches every game.

There was one a little over a year ago when Artist came out, no add on, killer or item restrictions. Only thing that was preset was the map.
average killrate was something like 2.16 I believe. In the majority of cases it was a complete stomp from one side or the other since each team would try to guess what the other side was doing. Youd think all youd see is Nurse, Blight or Spirit but other killers did make appearances, including Artist who was the most recent killer at the time and they did end up getting a 4k
Interesting. I must have missed that.
-
Things that the game "needs":
- ingame voice chat (just like every single pvp game has out there)
- hardcore (or horror) game mode that brings the horror aspect back to this party game
- additional objectives for survivors (only holding m1 gets boring)
- events that turn the gameplay around
- killer coop (killers have friends too)
- something that links to the "did you have fun" button and rewards "nice" gameplay
- bots that take the place of disconnecting players (just like the mobile version)
- official tournaments. People take this game very serious, so why not go all in and have weekly/monthly tournaments?
-

People are going to make fun of you but you're not wrong. DBD has unfair maps that make 2/31 killers viable when the survivors you play against have more than a potato between their ears.
I will remind everyone that people who play these games professionally for their job (even the ones with 7-9k hours) resort to camping/slugging/tunneling because high level survivor play is too efficient. It gets even worse vs 3-4 man SWF teams which have no limits.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377417#Comment_3377417
-"You can win with every Killer against the majority of Survivors."
And that's why 90% of the dbd tournaments have Only Nurse and Blight and the survivors have massive perk/item restrictions. How much you wanna bet if I put together a SWF team that you can't win? Since all killers are viable you will play Doctor.
Game will be played best 2/3 on random maps (no picking). Addons will be limited (no iri, 1 max purple/green per player) and you can't run addons more than once for the 3 game set.
IF you got to play Nurse and Blight sure you might be ok... but you dont get to do that so you will get stomped.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377422#Comment_3377422
-"the statement that "Nurse and Blight are the only two Killers that are barely viable" is laughably stupid."
-"What's my key to success? Unpredictability, I dont run meta."
You can run no perks/addons vs garbage mid tier survivors and 4k every time for like 50 games. If you do not need to run meta perks then you are playing low skill players.
I always wanted to see a tournament with no restrictions. To show how broken some stuff is.
-
This will never change, as the devs see the frustration as part of the experience.

I definitely play more survivor than I used to with the QoL updates. Problem is that I still get a lot of teammates who refuse to do anything useful for the first 5 minutes of the match and then go down immediately once found by the killer and then hook suicide after their first hook. Then I go back to playing killer to avoid useless teammates :)
It will get better when your mmr improves. Or at least thats what happend to me. Most of the time i get decent teammates.

Tbh I'd rather they fix the problems with the kits and have every killer have terrible addons than have terrible kits with mandatory addons to fix the glaring holes
Why not both? I mean, killers basekit should be strong enough to play without addons. While addons should allow for different play styles. They can do it, see Myers. So why not do something like that for all killers?

Its really not that oppressive of a perk, it can be annoying, but annoying doesnt equal oppressive. I myself dont have an issue with it but I do want it changed just because the majority don't enjoy dealing with it.

So many threads complaining about this recently. And it mystifies me, I'm no killer main for sure, but not a surv main either. I play both rolls roughly equally. For a start it isn't easy to hit, you can force a trigger by running at killer but it only works against players who M1 at the earliest possible second.
Killer is the easiest roll by a longshot. My mmr has been throwing lots of extremely good teams at me recently. I see DH a lot, but I rarely struggle against it. Baiting it out is pretty easy in most situations, really the only time I lose decent time becuase of it is when it's forced on a pallet. You literally get within swing distance and hold off for one second, watch the dab then drop the surv. It isn't hard. This strategy has worked against players with 100days plus solid play time. My record being one who has played the game for over 300 days.
But the way I see a lot of posts on here complain about it makes lt sound like they swing into it constantly and lose a lot of their games solely due to this perk. So it's either a wider skill issue or just killer main mentality bias, hating on whichever perk irritates them the most.
Tbh from my experience the perk is an important one for game balance, it's probably the best (if high risk) exhaustion perk in the game. Game balance already tips in the killer's favour, without DH, or if it gets nerfed into the ground that gap will only widen and kill rates will spike.
You see, those 2 phrase are what keeps me wondering.
I see DH a lot, but I rarely struggle against it. Baiting it out is pretty easy in most situations...
Game balance already tips in the killer's favour, without DH, or if it gets nerfed into the ground that gap will only widen and kill rates will spike.
If its pretty easy to bait out, then it shouldn´t have an impact on the kill rates. Unless, it isn´t easy to bait out and has an impact.
I´m afraid it can´t be both at the same time.

Yes. Because sometimes, its simply not possible to do everything. You maxed out points in one category and at least for me, the motivation to keep doing that category goes down.

I play solo and have been in matches with 3 players came in with flashlights and their whole mission was to torment the killer. I was the only player who did the gens and opened the exit gate and the 3 players got more points. had I interacted with the killer no one would have escaped. So because I played with a swf torment team. I get no ultrism points, No killer interaction points , no chase , no pallet drops etc.
But you maxed out Objective points. Weeee
Tbh, there shouldn´t be a limit per category. So someone who only does one thing, isn´t limited points wise. This would also improve perks and addons that give bonus points. As those max out points to fast.
-
Hard disagree. Survivors should´nt get more bloodpoints, just because they hug gens harder.
If you interact with the killer/other survivors you´ll get easily as much bloodpoints as the killer. If not more.
-
Yes, it´s bugged. Merciless Storm was kill switched. They should have also kill switched the yellow glyph challenge, since its probably the same bug.
