yes. i'll post more examples in the future.
I´ve also beat a couple brutal outposts in 25-35 seconds. Only to sit 20 minutes on the next one...
There simply is no general rule. Which is a good thing.

they already have that. it's the white icons. those bases are typically higher than prestige 5.
i could see them just providing more information in the picker. things like: prestige level, numerical capacity value, total deaths, accolade tally, 2nd wave traps count, etc.
but i honestly think base capacity and trap capacity shouldn't be used to determine lethality.
rather i think lethality should be determined by death count. so maybe all bases should start at "unknown" and slowly build up to "normal", "dangerous", "brutal", etc. based on their death counts.
Thats not a different difficulty. Thats just a base that is prestige 5 or higher.
But seeing prestige lvl in the status screen would be nice. Or, sorta like what you propose, having the lethality determined by kill ratio. New bases would have 0.

the point is to comment on the fact that brutal bases - kill boxes specifically - are easy money. thereby encouraging people that need genmat and money to attempt them. thereby reducing the number of complaints by people that can't make money because this post will have informed and educated those players that "i beat a brutal map in 20 seconds"
in other words: to inform, to educate, and to inspire.
i hope this helps you understand the post.
So all brutal bases are the same and easily beatable in 20 seconds?
Good to know!

i mean you could always just give an advisor bonus that reveals the distance harvester has to travel to the genmat. assuming that doesn't already exist. tbh i don't use advisor boosts as much as i should.
i think the secret to getting accolades is building a minecraft house at the start of the level right where the screenshot is. then draw yellow arrows to all the forbidden tombs. and lastly dont use 2nd wave traps.
pretty sure that's what the community wants.
Oh that exists. The same bonus that shows what are the 2 most used traps and how many traps exist in total, also shows the distance of the harvester. But right now its bugged and doesn´t always work exactly how its intended.
Maybe we need another difficulty rating that comes after brutal.

what i don't get is why it's a big deal to begin with.
first off kill boxes are such a free win. yes you might die 1-5 times figuring it out, but the viability of a kill box is so low that you're gaining so much more.
then there's the complaints about maze builds. which - yes - you might spend 20 minutes in one, but you're highly unlikely to die.
its like the community only wants prefabbed paths the game auto generates. that's apparently the only thing builders can make and if it's anything more than. 1 trap per 20 seconds it's a killbox.
come on guys. what? did the survivor mains from dbd all become raider mains now?
We have different kinds of players. The speed runners that like kill boxes but hate mazes and the slow n steady players that hate kill boxes but like mazes.
Both can co-exist.
Maybe in time, a meta will surge, where mazes are easier to detect/recognize. So the people that like them, will find them easier. Just like identifying kill boxes is easier thx to the advisor bonus that reveals the kind and amount of traps.

80% (value made up for emotional impact) of Brutal outposts are the same boring killbox.
Now I wouldn't call myself a high skilled raider, but I started playing Brutal the first few days for the genmat, but I quit after I abandoned my SIXTH killbox in a row.
Btw, my outposts are generally all Dangerous (because no one raids Brutal anymore) and I still don't get raiders above level 30. So maybe these 30+ raiders are just a rare breed.
I think the kill box issue will solve itself over time. Since players refuse to play on them, they can´t upgrade and only waste their synth on them.
So they will eventually stop pumping synth into them, just to keep em running.
In the meantime, most people run normal or dangerous and occationally brutal to see if its a kill box.

There is a upcoming content patch planned for the 18th.
Lets hope it also addresses the game´s stability. Because the crashes are really annoying.
Crash when i interact with the chimera, crash when i talk to a advisor, crash when i come back from my base, crash during the loading screen, crash when i...
-
Wut?
I hope there isn´t a bug with active/inactive maps. Or my half finished inactive base would be a really easy gen mat grab...

They got a lot of feedback after the beta and still released the game with the same bugs. They need to just be upfront and say "This is what is being worked on - well have a fix soon". It's really not that hard to give minimal communication
This game is starting with a small community, just like DbD did 6-7 years ago. DbD had weekly dev streams, where they answered questions from the community and explained whats coming up.
Something similar would be great for MyM. As it would help build a community.
-
Meanwhile, i´m setting up an elaborated map where the fastest path autodeletes (corrosive cubes) on second stage...
-
Then build around that. Make a base that aims specifically at slowing down and hitting over longer periods.
One of the upcoming Boltshot Mod aims at shooting bolts over a longer period of time. At some point the Barrier gets on cd.
-
As long as the Tombs aren´t sealed, or at unreachable spots, i give 1.
If i additionally had fun, i give 2.

Interesting, but it still could be the same statistical aberration - casual players just play the game, without being involved in related social activity. Or as you said - no one wants to admit he is a scrab publically =)
Thats what i´m aiming at ;)
Everyone is still new to the game. No shame in admiting that. It was released 1 week ago after all. People are still finding out what builds they like.

Nothing strange - with less than 40 responders poll has no statistical meaning. Currently, It only shows that (probably) most of the casual players do not take part in the forum activity. =)
There was a similar poll in Reddit with 400 something votes. Brutal and Dangerous were on tie while Normal was way behind with just a fraction of the votes.
-
@Seraphor said:
It's strange how Brutal is winning this poll, and yet my Brutal outposts invariably receive less than a tenth of the traffic my Dangerous outposts do.
Yeah this gives me the same vibes as everyone claiming to be in the top mmr in dbd.
My normal Outpost has the most traffic by a long shot.
-
According to reddit, the most picked difficulty is between Dangerous and Brutal.
Considering, how most of the Brutal maps are a waste of time (one way or another) i´d rather go Dangerous or even Normal depending on how much time i have and what i need.
-
You blocked the tombs?
Oh noes, looks like my game crashed. Such a shame. Anyway, lets move to the next outpost.
-
The game is extremely unstable. Lots of random crashes.
Also, if a builder blocks the tombs, then raiders might be inclined to just leave.
-
@Seraphor said:
I just wanna know how you get the golden clockface and the egyptian tomb deco packs. Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.
Thats the scorced necropolis pack from the deluxe edition.

I found this out by complete accident because it is not explained at all.
And when I found it out, I started adding little cave systems in my maps for people to find them.
A little boost for those who go the extra mile to explore the maps I make.
It is explained in the tutorial. Just not the tutorial you get shown when you start the game. You have to actively search through the tutorial.
Which is really weird and explains why everyone misses this crucial information.

The German version is probably pretty close to the English one. At least I know what you mean.
I tend to give no points to bad bases (dumb kill boxes, ...) and I'm probably not the only one.
Thus, such a filter would probably work nicely indeed.
Yeah, same. If its a dull kill box with 30 plasma cannons greeting me at the entry, i just turn around and leave.
-
There were no pre purchase versions of the game.
There are the normal and deluxe edition. The deluxe edition has some bonus skins. So maybe thats what you saw as pre purchase skins. Its called scorched necropolis.
-
Don´t worry. An outpost with 1000 capacity won´t scare people away. So just fill it up.
-
Its best to have several outposts of different types. You get gen mat from them and can lvl up faster that way.

So you want both sides to be treated poorly, as opposed to both sides being treated better?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3393672#Comment_3393672
I like to run mega heal-stack builds (not even necessarily CoH, it's not impressed me that much, and never with medkits), and while it can pay off and be pretty fun, there's also plenty of matches where I just don't get an opportunity to heal others, leaving those perks burning a hole in my pocket. That kind of coordination is still a bit of a pain, particularly for solo queue, so I can understand why people aren't too keen on running healing perks.
CoH feels more bluntly impactful, so it's a more popular pick, even if it isn't necessarily better.
Yeah this will benefit mostly SWF. I´ve tried it a couple of times, stacking healing perks and Med kits. Its actually insane. I stopped, because as solo, my teammates often run away from me and start to heal themselves under my CoH, while i´m standing next to them...
-
Many players are in a love/hate relationship with DbD, because the game can be so addicting and frustrating at times.
They kinda hate to play, but feel like they need to because of sunk cost fallacy.
So perhaps they want this game to fail, because they can´t stop playing on their own.
The us vs them is simply people playing only 1 side (half the game) and having absolutely no empathy for the other side. Everything "my" side does is good, everything the other side does is bad.
-
@Firellius said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3393654#Comment_3393654
You're not going to get 100% out of CoH though, due to the 14 second time investment of setting it up, and the restricted range. As it was, the 50% was simply not giving the perk any value, making it a flat worse version of Botany Knowledge. It needed something to be worth running.
This is not what I would've chosen, but I think it does work.
We´ll see. CoH, with its current 50% bonus healing speed, can currently perform extremely quick heals in combination with med kits and other healing perks. You usually only have to set it up once or twice at the start of the match.
I was actually surprised, that i never see people stacking healing perks to altruistically heal. But maybe that changes with the patch.
-
@Pulsar said:
Hmmmm, no.
This update seems pretty good right now.
Med-Kits are still rightfully nerfed. CoH's main issue is fixed, no more infinite self-heals. DH is in a good spot, it gets more powerful the weaker the Survivor team is. PR got a good buff from the PTB, 25% is huge value.
Oh, and Billy got a net buff, which is always appreciated.
If you don´t see the issue of a 100% CoH heal, that stacks with Med kits and other perks, then i really don´t know what to tell you.
Streamers pointed out extreme cases of 6 minute heals, that we will never encounter in a real match. Less than 5 second heals are however effectivly doable by SWF that stack healing perks.
But i guess, no issue in that.
-
Mmhhh a anti camp system. Sounds interesting. If we would have only something, a perk or so, that gives killers an incentive to leave the hook and go for someone else. Maybe with a bloodpoint bonus or something like that.

I don't know the implications as I'm not sure what acholites are.
After a raid, you can vote up to 2 times on the 4 categories, if the map was fun, brutal, etc.
Those votes are called acholites (i think, don´t nail me on that one, as i´m not playing in englisch). The builders get points for all the votes after a match.
So having a filter for one of the 4 categories could change how certain maps are appearing in the rotation.
-
@drsoontm said:
If it's not made mandatory, make it so players can dodge unproven maps.
Or they could give us a filter for maps. Where we can choose if we want a map with the most acholites per category.
Kill boxes would get most likely very little points and thus get less traffic.
-
The Problem i see is, that those kill boxes discourage "normal" players and just appeals to speed runners.
Now the speed runners just rush through normal bases that are no kill boxes and miss half the stuff.
For example, i´ve build a tiny base with a top side building leading to a tomb and the gen mat is subterranean. The speed runners get in and out in 2 minutes without even noticing the top building. Where i put all the love for decoration. Since we can´t decorate traps.
-
Closed Beta was fun. People were experimenting with all kinds of creative builds.
From what i hear, the open beta turned quickly into constructing kill boxes and most brutal bases i´ve raided since release, are just big kill boxes with 0 imagination.
So unless the devs find a way to encourage players to not build kill boxes... i´d say that the community will thin out quickly. No one likes to go into impossible bases.
-
I´m afraid, this version is less stable than the beta. In the 2 1/2 hours i played, i had 3 freezes where the only way out was to end the game via task manager and i had a base building bug, where just picking up mats from a killed raider turned the status of the map to insuficient minimum defenses.
The beta was much more stable for me.

To a point yes. Eventually though they will hit a point where they've pushed it too far. Not saying this update will be it but it's something that can't be taken for granted.
They can always reverse a patch. Buff previously nerfed perks. It all depends how quick they do it. If its too quick (original Freddy nerf after 1 week) or to slow (Freddy rework after 2 years).

We got a completely different survivor meta in 6.1, less than a year ago.
SC and DH have been meta for years and still are. So i´m not sure whats completely different now. Sure, in some regions SC was replaced with CoH, but that has also been meta since release...

Is there really that much anticipation for MYM?
I know deathruns gained popularity when Fortnite introduced Creative, but that was only because content creators were putting up stupid amounts of prize money.
The genre is otherwise underappreciated by all but speedrunners, because the average gamer doesn't have the patience to grind the same level over and over.
If MYM pops off, I'd imagine it's a sleeper hit that takes a full year to attract a wider audience.
We´ll see. The Beta looked interesting. There was a certain victory feeling, when i logged in and saw how many people died in my dungeon. Thats definetly fun.
But i don´t know how the community will treat itself. As there have been complaints of death traps that are simply not fun to play. If the devs find a way to balance this out, then it might be a success.

In the last 2 years most of the changes to DbD resulted with backlashes, I am uncertain what is happening tbh. I can't even comment myself and I just lurk and see complains over complains from both sides constantly.
It used to be every year "dbd is dying" but recently is so much negativity that even for me is starting to irritate.
(While I do agree about balancing issues, but true to the god that, so many complains)
Honestly, i think that the meta shake up is a good thing and if its really every 3 months, then it would be the best thing for dbd in a long time. As long as they are open to reasonable feedback, there shouldn´t be a problem.
The survivor meta has been stale for years and urgently needs to change. I would have approached it by buffing the lesser used perks, instead of what is comming now. But hey, we´ll see how it works out. If killers go full healing slowdown and people SC for 6 minutes in the corner of the map, then maybe survivors should change their playstyle and play more altruistically instead of just healing themselves.
If everything fails, the devs can always nerf/buff perks accordingly. This update won´t be the end.

Is Age of Wonders that high profile? I always thought it was a pretty niche thing from my childhood!
It still is kinda niche. But at least for me its the release i´ve been waiting for since its announcement.
Diablo would be the high profile release.
-
While i´m not saying that DbD will die, there is a high chance the playerbase will drop in the next 2 months anyway. But that would be because of something that has nothing to do with DbD.
Next week is the release of Meet your Maker, in a month is the release of Age of Wonders 4 and in 2 months will be the release of Diablo 4. So there might be a visible decline in the DbD playerbase, but not because of the changes.
Sure, those games might not be everyones cup of tea, but there is a chance that at least one of those games will draw in heavy attention playerwise.

Obviously I did, I have no other choice. I’m just curious whether or not anyone will actually answer this question honestly, but I’m also curious of their reasoning. I’m into psychology so I’m interested in the “whys” of what people do. 🤣
Why do survivors teabag at the exit gate?
Why to players write gg ez after a match?
Its just to trigger a negative reaction. Best thing is to ignore it and wish a good day. Responding with kindness to toxic behavior usually confused the people and caughts them off guard.
-
Meta shake up every 3 months. Sounds amazing and will help keep the game fresh. Because lets face it, the survivor meta has been stale for years.
-
This is purely to cause a reaction, which it obviously did.
Best you can do is, ignore it and move on.
-
Things happen and someone has to go afk. No problem in that, we´re all humans and something unexpected can happen.
This can happen to survivors and killers. Expecting the killer to make an exception for afk survivors, is like expecting survivors to wait with repairing gens, when the killer is afk.
Does it ruin the game? Sure, but its hopefully only an exception and not the norm to go afk every match.

right! I hate those statements "dbd dies when Ruin is nerfed, when MMR comes in, when this and that perk is nerfed" all stupid sayings... but what should be understood here is not a "minor change" perks or whatever is changed but, here we are talking about it being unplayable, we say as an example the gens are increased from 90sec to 120sec and at the same time there is no gen regression perls but the old perks are made clean, what do you think will happen ? small tip dbd will not exactly have a rosy future
as a comparison, when the gens were "only" increased by 10sec and thana was only increased by 2% (22%) almost every killer played thana, bhvr then nerfed it immediately but look at the heal with the current perks and calculate the result is = bhvrs future
Oh yeah the changes are big. Thats why i don´t think they will go through with all of them. Lets say they nerf the healing like planned, they would also nerf the perks that affect healing negatively, because no way people will sit there and SC for 6 minutes. Just like they did with the additional 10 seconds of gen time, while also nerfing all meta slowdown perks hard.
The planned meta shake ups every 3 months sounds like a great idea. Because i loved the time after 6.1.0. There was no meta, and everyone tested new (and crazy) builds. That time was amazing. If the devs manage to keep something like that alive, then we will look into a bright future.
