Then the correct play for the last survivor is as soon as they see their team mate go down (or suspect it’s imminent) - go to the gate farthest from where the player was downed and wait. Remember, the context here - the suggested change is that killers won’t slug the 2nd to last person if we got rid of hatch. If they still slug that 2nd to last person, then all that’s being done is buffing endgame for killers by getting rid of the hatch mechanic.
Or go to the closest gate and wait for the killer to leave.
Its not buffing anything. After all, endgame was buffed for survivors. Originally, hatch would only spawn if 2 gens were completed. Now the hatch can spawn even at 5 gens. Rewarding for failure. Whats even more, the hatch has brought toxic behavior to the game. When 2 survivors are left, usually 1 hides in the hope the killer finds the other one first. Or even worse, one tries to rat out the teammate, in the hope the killer shows mercy.
There are a lot of problems that would be solved by simply removing the hatch. You fear that killers will just slug one of the survivors, no problem, give survivors the option to bleed out faster.

The hatch isn’t just a mechanism that benefits the survivors, as a game mechanic it encourages survivors to not just remain hidden when they’re the last person up. Without it, if gens aren’t done the killer can’t even open a gate to trigger the end game collapse.
Just let the endgame collapse start, when there is only 1 survivor left.
Problem solved.

When did I say every killer camps? If you’re referring to my DS comments stating that it should still be able to be used during endgame isn’t implying the killer is going to camp. Sometimes other survivors see no benefit in going for the save when the exit is right there and other times you might be the last one out. And let’s be honest - even killers that don’t usually camp are more likely to do so once they hook a survivor during endgame.
Your first phrase?
Yes, everyone switch to killer so that there are no survivors to play against. -

It goes beyond just when you lose. I always try to create a positive environment around me regardless if I win or lose.
There is a specific reason why I put the "WP" or "Well Played" when saying "GGWP", because regardless of the skill level, all players put forth their best effort, which I consider to be worthy of such. It applies to everyone, not just a single person, not just the Survivors, not just the Killer, EVERYONE.
Correct. Its a game after all. Most people play it to have fun. Toxicity just creates more toxicity. While kind behavior creates kind reactions. People that are mad, often calm down, when they read some nice words.
DbD has one of the most toxic communities. Lets change this.

It's called "good sportsmanship"?
I always say "ggwp" regardless if I win or lose, and I always say "good luck, have fun next match" as well, it's just customary in many of the games that I play (Warframe, Battlebit Remastered, Deep Rock Galactic, etc).
Saying gg even when you lose is good sportsmanship.
Anyway, the killer suspecting SWF might be simply caused by the HUD. Had a match where i saw a teammate had almost finished the gen, so i went right to the gate. Better coordination can happen with the HUD, so its natural that killers suspect SWF.

I never said Killer didnt have issues, I said Survivor has too many issues, I said that for a reason.
When I bought DBD, many years ago, I bought it to play Survivor and Killer, I do not want to be forced to exclusively play a single side because BHVR has neglected issues with one side.
No one is forcing you to only play one role. The "just play killer instead" is meant more at situations, where you feel that you had enough. Play a couple of rounds as killer and switch back if you want.
Its better than getting burned out and completely stop.

Yes, everyone switch to killer so that there are no survivors to play against. Makes sense! You are right, some of the fault lies with players as to why some things can’t work right such as when survivors griefed others with Reassurance so they had no choice but to nerf it. That doesn’t mean that camping isn’t a problem, and sometimes when they try to balance things they just make things unnecessarily useless. Look at Decisive Strike… did it need fixed? Yes, but they went too far. There’s no reason it should deactivate when the exit gates open. Some players don’t get hooked until the exit gates open and then they lose any advantage the perk would grant them. It’s like they’re saying that if a killer downs a survivor after the gates open then they DESERVE the kill which is problematic. You only get to use DS once… choosing when to do so is part of the survival strategy. So, yeah, instead of trying to give survivors ways to combat lazy and toxic gameplay they should instead work on penalizing the killer instead because whatever perks survivors are given to help often get made irrelevant anyway.
Nice hyperbole. Do you really think, every killer face camps?
Punishing players for playing in a legit way (because lets face it, face camping is not against the rules. Its not a reportable offense). Is a good way to get rid of the playerbase.
I really don´t see the problem if everyone, who is annoyed by this situation, switches to killer. Best case szenario is, that camping is greatly reduced, since we all get matched against killers who don´t want to camp. Worst case szenario is, that killers get a long queue (longest queue we had a couple of years ago was around 45 minutes) and the devs see a problem.

I suspect you get a very different survivor experience than people here, by your own admission ("I don't see facecamping in my games"), and you are not talking about the same thing as other people.
Let me share a game that I saw last night on Alby's stream that perfectly demonstrates OP's point. It was Alby's 2nd match, and the game already featured tunnel + facecamp.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1853950244?t=0h13m36s
That Yui who got tunneled got 6.5k bloodpoints total. She did not suicide on hook nor insult the killer. She stayed til end game chat, just to tell that she was just happy to play with a streamer.
Since the killer plays Spirit (A-tier at least) and enduring+spirit fury, it's understandable that Yui lost the first chase quite fast.
After she got unhooked, she got immediatly tunneled out and facecamped. So basically, her whole gameplay experience was the 1st chase.
I'm not saying there's an obvious solution. But there's an obvious problem. There are 5 players in the game, not just 2.
Of course, my view on this is subjective and shortly after my comment i had a camping nurse. I also had a teammate (streamer mode) who refused to heal me after a nice killer only injured me, when i was afk for a minute at the start of the match. Or a survivor who dropped a pallet in my face, when i tanked a hit for her.
Those things happen, i´ve seen those things on stream, but they are random. Are there a lot of campers? Absolutely, i won´t deny that. But it does not happen every single match. This is the difference. Bad stuff happens, but not every match.

I know it isn’t the answer you want to hear, Firellus but Tsulan makes a good point. You can’t really do anything about camping killers (and BHVR hasn’t rolled out their anti-camp measure yet). His solution, so players at least avoid that situation with the tools available now, is to play killer—if only to amass more BPs during the event. Everybody knows killers camp, it sucks, and it ruins the gameplay experience of others. No one appears to be challenging that here. Tsulan is just offering an alternative so survivor players feel less cheated during the event.
Thank you, there really is little a single person can do to prevent this. Unless we all change how we play.

You can try and defend it all you want, but that doesn't change anything about the argument.
My point still stands. Best solution right now is to switch sides. Other than that, you can say "thank you" to our community, that sabotaged every attempt from the devs to solve this.
You have been around long enough to see it. How hook progess stop when the killer was in a certain radius, caused survivors to loop the killer around the hook.
Or how swivel hooks (unhook from every angle) just changed the meaning of face camping.
Or how stackable effects from BT, OtR and DH resulted in 5 hits to down a survivor.
The devs really tried to solve this, but our community is really good in... well... sabotaging ourselves.

My darling, my dude, the 'full gameplay experience' does not consist of one (1) chase and then sitting on hook until end-of-game with 5K BP.
Judging from the amount of complaints about this, it could actually be considered a full gameplay experience.
Sure, dying with so little points sucks. But most of the time i see those points, its because that survivor suicided.
I´ve also seen killers play a full match with less than 10k points (its possible...) doesn´t happen a lot, but meh.
Best thing to do is move on to the next match and not wait until the match ends, to tell the killer how much you love him. I´ve been at that point, where i was fuming. But at the end of the day, its just a match you won´t remember in a couple of hours(days).

i dont blame the players. i only blame BHVR. there are AWS locations in the middle east and south africa they could use for dedicated servers but they even decided to remove the middle east server. the south african community trieds since years to get their own server.
Good point. We either need more servers, so everyone has a decent ping. Or some sort of hybrid system. Where people can choose to either play on the nearest server or make a p2p match (maybe when the system detects a high ping).
Also a lobby ping indicator. I really don´t know why that was removed.
So yeah, i agree with you.
-
To be fair, those players might not have any servers nearby. Dedicated servers are kinda at fault here. When the game was still p2p, you could see the killers ping in the lobby and dodge accordingly. But now, everyone can have a bad ping, based on location to the servers. Hell, last match i had 2 teammates with a constant red bar next to their names.
You can´t blame the players for trying to play with whats available.

Exactly this. Survivors are focusing on gens more now, thanks to all of tunnellers. If you don't rush gens, most likely you will lose. But if you finish gens as fast as possible, you can help your teammate who is getting camp & tunnel.

Killers are tunneling NOW because gens go by way to quickly to get any good chases in
This kinda feels like a chicken and egg situation.
Only solution i see is to stop tunneling in the hope that survivors gen rush. But then killers get a "gg ez, l2p nuub killa" in the endgame chat.
So survivors should stop rushing gens. But then they get tunneled and the endgame chat is: "gg ez ez ez ez nub survs"
Which leads the devs to change some game mechanics to make both things harder, but that leads to "devs are XXX sided!11!!!" comments on twitter and the forum. Because our community is simply toxic af.
Conclusion: both sides should try to be better persons and react with kindness to our fellow killers and survivors. If toxic stuff happens, just send a "gg luv you" or "have a wonderful day" or something wholesome in the hope that more people start doing that.

At the very least, with the killer being the power role, you can play a full, proper match with that. Can't do that with survivor.
Full, proper match is subjective. Completing all gens with barely any killer interaction would be considered a full, proper match for survivors. Meanwhile the same match would be considered a gen rush for killers.

If your solution is to play a certain role during an event because the other one has too many issues, then clearly something is wrong and should be changed. (IMO)
Play killer and find out what the issues are.
I guarantee you, its not as one sided as you think.
-
Have you considered playing killer during the event? You can play as farmy as you want and the only thing that can ruin it, is survivors rushing out.

@GannTM said:
You cannot be serious if you think SB, Lithe, and BL don’t have “requirements”.
Sprint Burst REQUIRES you to manage exhaustion and could waste time when used incorrectly.
Lithe REQUIRES you to vault a pallet or window so this perk does nothing in dead zones.
Balanced Landing REQUIRES a height to drop from which is map dependent and survivors need to know where drops can be.
Don't act like these three perks are skill-less, because they absolutely are not. With the COB and OC meta, the only requirements needed for these perks to work is to kick a gen, which my grandmother can do. You cannot compare.
In other words:
SB requires you to not run around all the time.
Lithe requires a window or pallet. Not like the map is plastered with them. I once equipped Window of Opportunity and all the yellow was blinding me. (like really, i like aura reading perks, but this is simply to distracting for me)
BL requires gravity. This one is the most complicated of all. As some maps don´t have many spots. But the others?

You can never please anyone that's the sad thing about humanity there will always be a complaint about something
At least with this complaint that doesn't need to be as much of a complaint they have an easy fix just finish the game quicker while people farm
Yes. But this also explains, why some killers play so scummy. If the match ends with insults, no matter how you play, then whats stopping the killer from playing in the worst possible way?
I´ve had matches where someone dc/suicided early on. I farmed with the remaining survivors and let them escape. Endgame chat: "reported! enjoy your ban!"
Then i have a similar match, decide to not farm, endgame chat: "why didn´t you let us farm?! why are you such a ****?!"
When all it needs is being a bit nice, no matter how the match went. DbD has one of the most toxic communities i´ve met and some kind acts can really go a looooong way and improve the game for everyone.
-
Survivors: killers are killing the fun during this event by killing survivors.
Also survivors: killers shouldn´t farm...
What are killers supposed to do?! Forum is full of complaints about slugging, tunneling and killing at 5 gens.
It doesn´t matter how a killer plays, someone will complain about it.
-
This might be the first anniversary i´m gonna skip.
-
Gen merchant was designed as 3 gen killer and does exactly that. What about the fun of the players that bought her?! You can´t blame people for playing a killer in the exact way its meant to be.
On a more serious note, if i´d encounter this situation i´d just get max points and then i´d let myself kill. No point in sticking around for so long, when i can just move to the next match.
-
Since the last chapters all contained perks that increase repairspeed, i´d say there is little to no chance that gen rushing will be addressed.
-
Here comes my list of things that need fixing, with no particular order:
- crashes on entering the hub
- crashes during the loading screen when visiting one of my outposts
- crashes after a death
- crashes during the loading screen when raiding
- the lack of interesting mods
Point 5 is optional, but 1 to 4 are things that really matter to me.
Bonus Round: a button to activate/deactivate a base from the hub would be nice.

At this point i´m honestly surprised that no one has thought about bringing Dark Theory to the party.

“All for the benefit of forcing survivors to move a bit instead of instantly repairing the gens they spawn at.” Exactly what why it was s tier. Forced survivors to move and the gens stayed blocked for a full 2 minutes. Every killer got value out of it. It was one of the most used perks for a reason
And you missed the RNG part, where it easily blocked the wrong gens.
Cool, gen is blocked. I just move to another one and stop running when i hear the heartbeat. Gens were the primary point for killers to find survivors. When corrupt blocked the gens, the killer could easily search for the survivors until they started to repair the unblocked gens of for the full 2 minutes. Which resulted in no progress for anyone (killer included).
I even remember a streamer who tested Trapper/Hag with and without Corrupt. In order to really see the difference between, what then was mainly considered the best perk for those 2 killers. Result was, that despite the extra time to set up traps, the outcome was better without corrupt.

Your right, corrupt wasnt A tier, it was s tier. Its still a good perk just not a good perk on killers like nurse or blight
No, it wasn´t. The RNG could hurt the killer more then benefiting him. Creating a zone that would be impossible to defend, by blocking certain gens.
All for the benefit of forcing survivors to move a bit instead of instantly repairing the gens they spawn at.

I was more talking about regression as a whole.
You can't just slap Overbrine Eruption on a gen and get value.
PGTW is a GOOD perk, right now. PR is exceptionally strong at the moment. Corrupt has always been good. None of these perks will carry you if you're bad.
I don´t agree at all. Corrupt wasn´t exactly A tier before its nerf and now its simply a wasted perk slot.
The concept of a perk carrying you applies mainly to perks that give value without accomplishing something. NOED or DH (in previous versions) fell under this criteria. But a perk that requires certain actions to do before hand, not really.
To me, Undying Ruin was the healthiest Slowdown combo we ever had. It required the killer to constantly switch targets in order to get the most out of it, while it also had little effect if survivors just pushed through it, because they didn´t feel like searching totems. Perfectly balanced.
But what we have now as slowdown?
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3453363#Comment_3453363
If my math is right, it's better now than it has been before.
Depends on the progression. Since its 30% of current progress (+ the kick). Unlike 25% of total progress we had before.
Point is, that a killer who gets a lot of kicks out of this, also gets a lot of hooks. A killer who gets a lot of hooks doesn´t really need Pop. While a killer who struggles, and who would benefit from the perk. Gets little to nothing out of it.
We´ve had better and more importantly, healthier gen slowdown perks in the past.
-
@Pulsar said:
People will never be satisfied.
Use the new PGTW. Use the better version of PR. Use Corrupt.
It won't carry you anymore, but that doesn't mean that these perks aren't good. You have to show some good Killer gameplay in order to get value.
That's a good thing.
It won´t carry you anymore?
Pop never carried anyone. A killer who got a lot of use out of Pop is a killer who didn´t needed Pop in the first place. Simply because it requires hooks. Just because it now is slighly less bad than it was before its hard nerf, doesn´t mean its useful now.

That's how I play my killer games now. I was getting sick and tired of ######### survivor games so I decided I won't play that way when playing killer.
BTW how do you know they don't practice what they preach?
Lets just say i´ve seen quite some streamers that complain about one thing when they play, only to do that exact thing when they switch roles.
Just play the way that makes YOU feel good. I´ve discovered a looong time ago, that playing how others want me to play, is a road to misery. Had survivors that complained that i didn´t tunnel their teammates or bring 4 slowdown perks. Had Teammates that complained that i finished the last gen instead of standing around the hook with the other teammates. There simply is no winning.
So i just play like i feel in that moment. But i generally try to be a fair player (but even then, some people complain). But at least i feel better and don´t feel guilty of playing (or not playing) a certain way.

An ego problem for people that prefer to play survivor over killer?? You’ve completely lost me.
I play both sides and still have zero empathy for people who make you sit through 4 minute bleed outs or camp at 5 gens, was I supposed to be enlightened by playing killer on why these are “valid strategies” and not just a huge waste of time for everybody involved?
and where did i say that?
Doesn´t matter what side someone plays. If he only plays 1 side, he plays only half of the game. Which IS an ego issue. The 4 minute situation could be prevented if more people played both sides.
Or bad manners in general. Because people that only play 1 side are surprisingly toxic towards the other side and don´t spend a second thinking why the other side does what they do.

- That’s not how it works, “be the difference you want to see” does not work in a game with thousands and thousands of players. I play for hooks as killer, doesn’t mean that over half my games as survivor doesn’t have hardcore camping, tunneling, or slugging.
- Why should he have to stop playing the role he enjoys just because some people have ego problems and can’t lose their precious 4k
- Survivor and killer may as well be different games. They require entirely different skill sets and some people want to just sit back and play the game in the role they want to. Survivor is a much more relaxed experience compared to killer, a lot of people enjoy that.
- Thats like saying voting doesn´t work, because there are to many people with different opinions.
- If you only play half of a game, then that actually sounds like a ego problem.
- Thats why people should play both roles in order to gain empathy towards the other role.

What is the even supposed to mean?
If you are tired of getting slugged or camped at 5 gens by the killer, then just play killer without doing those things.
Play killer the way you would hope others would play killer, when you are a survivor.
Make the difference.
-
May i suggest you play killer instead? No slugging or camping at 5 gens (unless you want to).
-
Yeah about that... i don´t think so. It hasn´t been like this in the past and i doubt that killers will see any buffs from that in the future.
-
Since Nurses kill rate isn´t as spectacular as most people claim, i´d say they enjoy winning occasionally.
Until her kill rate actually hits those spectacular levels, i´d be careful with asking for nerfs. Since the last balance round wasn´t exactly what people hoped for.

Why is it always that if Killers behave like ######### that someone comes up with an explanation that it must have been the fault of the Survivors before?
Like, Killers are the pure souls of this game, it is not possible that one of them is acting like this on their own. Meanwhile, Survivors eat little children.
To be fair, i can´t eat a whole one. Doesn´t matter how hungry i am.
Anyway, we´re all humans. Everyone can have a bad day and unconsciously let it out on someone else. Best thing is to simply ignore it and move on. Fueling the fire by reacting to any sort of BM rarely has the desired outcome.
-
If survivors keep the gen in the main building for the end, then the map isn´t killer sided at all. The gen is extremely safe and survivors can loop the killer for a very long time around that building.
The only thing that can put survivors in danger on that map is other survivors, which do that gen first, because its safe. A surprisingly high amount of survivors tend to play suboptimal by completing the safest gens first and keeping the more dangerous ones for the end.
