  • Without WGLF/BBQ, matches feel so unrewarding. I've lost the motivation to play.

Right now, Dying Light 2 is doing these little events every week. They're short and small and they don't offer rewards, but they bring a bit of newness and they're fun. If something's not very fun, rewards can distract the player from realizing it; if something's fun, rewards aren't necessary. DbD has always struggled with being both fun and rewarding, but now it's so far from being either that I'm just not even starting it up. I'll parkour around in Dying Light 2 collecting Chamomile and sending zombies flying, doing nothing of importance and enjoying every second of it.

  • 2 or 3 times within a month? What?!

You know this unoptimized mess of a game crashes, right? This game still gets the blue screen of death sometimes on PS4, and DbD can't tell the difference between a crash and a ragequit.

Since the mid-chapter update, the game has gotten the blue screen of death once and also froze up and then kicked me once (wasn't my internet, it was on DbD's end somewhere). That's twice just since the mid-chapter update.

  • It's sunk cost, but I'm actually so fed up right now that it outweighs the sunk cost and I'm just playing something else. I'm tired of dealing with all this. It's not fun.

Just curious what perk are you trying to keep at tier 1?

There are two perks that I prefer at tier one. Depending on which account (PS4 or Switch), it's either Distressing (I use it for the BP but find that the small TR increase with each tier means survivors get more distance before I can start a chase) or Make Your Choice (a shorter cooldown is better than a longer exposed status).

  • Casual mode would have to be different enough that experienced players couldn't just hop in and stomp newbies/casuals to make them miserable.

I'd like a casual mode that removes the elimination part of the game. There are a lot of unique elements in DbD that draw players in, but it being an elimination game divides the playerbase a lot. A mode that's actually casual and fun where there are new goals that don't include removing players from the match, that'd be nice.

  • My friend played four matches of solo survivor today and quit. He had one good team of the four. In one of the matches, someone got hit 5 seconds in, then motioned to Mikey "come on, come on," so Mikey put them on a hook and they suicided. I probably don't have to specify that match was no fun.

In the fourth match, my friend was the only one to get hooked. Feng Min farmed him, made sure he got speared by Deathslinger straight off the hook so he went right back on. Then, after someone else saved him, Feng Min 99%'ed the exit gate, tried to body block my friend from opening it, and nearly got my friend killed as she tried really really hard to body block him from escaping. He was rightfully pissed enough after that match that he just stopped playing. It's not cute or funny to be body blocked in the exit gate when injured and on death hook against a Deathslinger.

Playing survivor is a frustrating unfun experience. If the killer fails to tunnel you out, your teammates try their damndest to help him by suiciding or sandbagging or just not working on gens. I hope my friend is done for a while, I'd really rather play anything else. Or nothing else, I'd be fine staring at a blank wall if that were the only other option.

  • We've been asking for this for a long time. It would make so much sense and be very helpful, give people an idea of who's best to deal with what situation.

Instead, it's apparently more important for survivors (and the killer) to see each other's prestige levels in the lobby... for some reason...

    It goes like this: 4, 3, 2, and 0.

Is it that difficult to understand? it's literally same as how it works for now, except no one needs to waste their time with slug/hide'n'seek and such.

    ... I can't believe you're taking what I said seriously.

Anyway, what's the point of playing survivor at all if bad MMR means you're destined to die at the end. I can't keep bad teammates safe, I can't all by myself make sure someone else survives to keep myself alive. At that point, take out the exit gate and the goal of escaping and have it be a timed match where the survivors try to stay alive until the end or something.

  • The hatch standoff I usually experience is that, after one survivor dies, the other two go into hiding and I'm left deciding whether to attempt gens or make noise and get the killer to kill me so I can play a match with teammates rather than be held hostage in an unwinnable situation. I usually choose to work on a gen until the killer finds me, then I suicide. Then the killer gets to spend the next god only knows how long stuck in a match where they're diligently patrolling the very gens the remaining survivors are avoiding. Sometimes I spectate a little out of curiosity, and my god it looks so freaking boring I could cry.

If the game is 3v1 third survivor will be instantly sacrificed instead of fourth, that's not how this works.

Oh... so then it should be a 2v1... no, wait, then the 2nd survivor would be auto-sacrificed. So I guess what the game needs to be is a 1v1?

  • @fulltonon said:

Just this, who the heck needs a literal pity escape which doesn't even have any real meaning lol

let the entity devour survivors instead of spawning hatches, problem solved.

Well at that point what's the 4th survivor even needed for, just make the game a 3v1 if the 4th has no chance.

  • Aim dressing, low framerate, high and variable input latency, low sensitivity, and recently increased frame drops have me chasing survivors but killing zombies to get my 20k BP when I play killer on Switch. There is no "gitting gud" in this situation and it sucks.

ok cool, say that to the solo squads eh? tell them to tap every gen thats kicked to deal with overhcarge and COB and to just heal against thana when in reality that just waste more time anyways XD try again

I can't even tell my teammates, "Hey, I'm on Switch. Someone else has to tap the gen and do the Overcharge skill check." Console doesn't have chat. You think hovering over the globe or something would tell your teammates what platform you're on pre-match, but nope.

  • My friend runs Empathy. He just watched David get hit about five seconds into the match by Mikey, and David just stood there and kept motioning "come on, come on," then he suicided on the hook.

Someone burned a Flan this match, so ya know, yay. The match is going poorly, as Mikey does not care that someone threw. There's no need to tunnel when someone suicided first thing, but that's not stopping him.

  • I feel as if I lose to a killer, that the killer didn't deserve that win.

How can I respect my opponent when he is just given wins by the developer.

I can't tell if you're saying you only respect a killer who doesn't kill, or if you don't respect anyone who plays killer at all.

I usually just play a game of cat-and-mouse and let the survivors go at the end. I've been doing that for years, now. I feel like I messed up as killer if all four survivors don't escape. However, right now I'm getting survivors who disconnect when I refuse to kill them, and it's kind of messing up the vibe.

  • There's no option to hide my prestige from others. Prestige levels are shown in the lobby and on the end-game tally screen. I don't like it. I'm a private person. I don't care about anyone else's prestige levels, and I don't want to share my own.

Upon Prestiging, the Bloodweb is set back to level 1. I am now stuck, because if I put any more Bloodpoints into a killer I will have to upgrade a perk I want to keep at tier 1. Sucks to have personal preferences in this game, I guess.

BHVR increased the reward for escaping a match from 5k to 7k. I already had teammates who went into stealth mode after one death, refusing to participate and leaving me on my own to attempt gens. Now, I'm seeing survivors do it from the start of the match. I'm not playing an entire match on my goddamn own.

BBQ/WGLF stacks have been removed. Getting a 4-stack on BBQ was my win condition. I've lost the incentive to even bother hooking anyone a lot of the time. There are so many things that can go wrong after picking up a survivor, it's not worth wasting the time when there are no stacks for bonus BP. And there are no WGLF stacks to soften the blow of a bad survivor match. Matches are longer but I'm earning fewer Bloodpoints for them.

Teammates are acting worse, BHVR purposefully made it more difficult for survivors to escape, but de-pipping is still a thing.

Because fewer killers are running BBQ, it freed up a perk slot for another gen/slowdown perk. I preferred going against BBQ, that was easily countered and didn't bring the game to a crawl.

At some point recently Switch performance got worse and it's dropping a lot more frames than it used to. The low framerate plus increased frame drops is just a constant reminder that cross-progression had a set date and is now a pipe dream, like the game wants to make sure I never forget it took my money and ran.

    I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff.

  • I've been mostly miserable with it. They've changed so many things at once, and I dislike a lot of those changes. I can't hide my prestige levels, those are always shown in the lobby and on the end tally screen. I'm forced to Prestige and every time I do the Bloodweb resets to level 1, and now I'm stuck being forced to either never put more BP into certain characters or tiering up a perk I'd prefer to have at tier 1. When I play survivor, my teammates suck more than usual. BHVR rewarding more for escaping the match means I'm seeing more survivors stealth around instead of participate; that was already a huge problem, so at this point I just don't want to play at all.

My build on all killers pre-6.1 was Lightborn, Distressing, Beast of Prey, and BBQ. Now, it's Lightborn, Distressing, Beast of Prey, and so far nothing I've tried as the fourth perk has made me happy. Without BBQ, I'm slugging more without bothering to hook because there's no real incentive to waste the time doing it. I don't necessarily like slugging, so there are also a lot of matches where I hit and run and nothing else, I never down anyone.

My survivor build pre-6.1 was WGLF, Empathy, BT, and WoO or Self Care. Since the update, I've been running Self Care, Empathy, Botany, and WoO or Prove Thyself. The role is so damn unrewarding, though, that the fast queues are not incentive enough to play. The matches being longer just means they're more boring; I'm not earning more BP to compensate for the extra time spent. No WGLF stacks to soften the blow of a bad match. Mostly what I get is a frustrating experience and a de-pip. While I die on the hook I can watch my teammates crouching around in corners or on the upper stories of buildings. The matches I've played just show that all the problems with survivor have been amplified with 6.1.

Not to mention at some point recently Switch performance got worse and it's dropping a lot more frames than it used to. The low framerate plus increased frame drops is just a constant reminder that cross-progression had a set date and is now a pipe dream, like the game wants to make sure I never forget it screwed me out of my money.

Long story short, I'm playing anything other than DbD at this point.

  • BHVR adjusted the game in an attempt to ensure survivors die more often, then increased the number of Bloodpoints rewarded for escaping to make sure survivors are also super salty about it.

BHVR makes winning more difficult (also makes it more boring by increasing gen times), and not only doesn't do anything to soften the blow of bad games (de-pipping is still a thing) but makes losing feel worse by rewarding a larger chunk of BP for surviving and getting rid of WGLF stacks.

I start up the game and play one match of survivor and already feel so done with it for the day. I don't expect to win, I'd just like the act of playing the role to be fun.

  • Aim dressing is not aim assist. Aim assist helps you get hits you wouldn't have otherwise gotten. Aim dressing will never help you get a hit you wouldn't have gotten, it is there only to make hits look better. That is why you can't turn it off, because it's not exactly for you.

Here's a full explanation from Peanits:

    @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1026203#Comment_1026203

It is the case. To explain:

Auto aim gives you a hit you otherwise would not have gotten.

What happens in DBD is that the game recognizes that you've gotten a hit by checking a cone shaped area in front of you for survivors, then pulls you towards them to make it look like you'd expect (so your weapon actually makes contact). It will not give you a hit unless you actually aimed at them. Basically it dresses it up after the fact.

That's not to say that it can't cause a hit that should have connected to miss- I'm not trying to convince you that it doesn't happen- but it's not "auto aim" or "aim assist".

EDIT: Just noticed the other part of the question.

It is not there to hide lag. To hide lag, you would have to predict their movement and move the killer on their screen in advance. This is not the case. If there's a lot of latency between you two, the killer will appear to miss wildly regardless. As the killer, you have the authority over hits. It's not compensating to help you out. What you see is what you get. It's purely just to make your hits more visually appealing.

I bet you make absolute stonks with that build seeing as how you're still using it with the newly increased BP cap. How's that going for ya? What's your average game.

I still use enduring, forced penance, and lethal pursuer as a lore accurate build. Haven't really decided on something to have as a fourth. Been thinking about lightborn and nemesis as both would synergize with lethal and would make sense in terms of usage and the literal name in Nemesis's case. Then I think about pwyf and how it would be perfect to represent him and his speed, but you just wouldn't get much use out of it with him sadly.

I've managed to make somewhere between 35k and 36k by double-hooking without killing anyone. I'd still give up the new increased BP caps to get BBQ back, as BBQ allowed me to make 58k+ BP in a good match. A relaxed (or bad) match with BBQ still got me over 40k+ total, whereas it takes me spending a lot of time farming the hell out of survivors just to make over 30k now.

PWYF is unfortunately only really good on Tombstone Myers and maybe some meme Bubba builds or something. I tried to use it a few times on killers and it losing stacks on whiffing really screwed me, everything from aim dressing to frame drops to my controller accidentally touching my leg causes whiffs throughout any match. Dunno about lore-accurate, but STBFL has potential since he can use his tentacle on the obsession while doing super-fast fist-bumps on the other survivors, but if you mostly use tentacle over fist then it doesn't come into play much.

  • I'm upset that BHVR increased the score event for surviving. It was bad enough seeing a lot of people go into stealth-for-the-hatch mode after one death. Now I'm seeing more survivors do it from the straight beginning of the match.

I'm so ticked off at this.

  • A survivor bonus of 100% that isn't multiplicative is worthless. Giving me an extra 8k to 15k per match isn't going to convince me to play survivor. If killer queues are long and survivor has a crappy non-multiplicative 100% bonus, I'll just play a different game.

The bonus should work the way it did before it was kill switched. If you want players to forget they're not having fun in a certain role, the bribe has to be large enough to actually distract them.

Since dropping bbq, what builds you been running, still playing nemmy, or played a few different killers? Just curious! Hope you been well

I've been running Nemesis with my same build of Lightborn, Distressing, and Beast of Prey. On PS4, during the Double Rift Fragment event I replaced BBQ with Deadlock. I'm not sure what to run, now. Maybe I'll go back to Whispers, it's what I used before I stopped being able to counter flashlights.

Not sure what I'll replace BBQ with on the Switch. Unlike on PS4, I don't have many perks on killers, so my options are very limited. I might go with Tier 2 Lethal Pursuer.

How about you? What've you been running with?

  • If it's obvious when someone is running BBQ, then it's obvious to know to hide from it or mind game it. There are so many ways to counter it, I don't understand what nerf is needed. I personally dropped BBQ from all my builds now that there's no BP bonus. I still see some killers run BBQ, sure, but not many: mostly I see gen/slowdown perks and that makes me miss BBQ.

  • The Bloodweb starting at tier 1 after Prestiging is an issue.

I just went like 20 Bloodwebs without accepting the final perk. I didn't want the perk at tier 2, I certainly don't want it at tier 3. And it was great, knowing exactly what the Entity would consume first because of that one perk being unclaimed let me manipulate Bloodwebs in an efficient manner. Now I'm at Prestige 2 tier 1 and I have to accept the final perk to continue on. So far, I've decided to just not continue putting Bloodpoints into the killer Sucks. At some point that'll happen with all my killers, and I'll be at a roadblock where I just can't put BP into any of them anymore.

The way this whole thing is set up takes away player choices and I hate it. I can't keep this one perk forever at tier 1 the way I did with the old prestige system. I can't choose whether or not to prestige. I can't stick with level 50 Bloodwebs. And I can't choose to keep my prestige levels private from others.

If you want the goal there's always Grim Embrace, which works on the same mechanic and gives you a reward for hitting the goal in-match.

I don't really consider gen slowdown a reward. I ran Deadlock during the Double Rift Fragment event, but I already took it back off. Slowdown just... I dunno, I don't like it. It seems to be a personal preference. My loadout is Lightborn, Distressing, and Beast of Prey. PS4 has a lot of perks unlocked but so much is slowdown or location/aura and nothing is anything fun like confetti bursting out of your weapon on a hit for a Brutality BP boost or corpses hanging from hooks when they're not in use just for ambience. Closest thing is Clown's bottle add-on, but Clown's not very fun and the gas from his bottles hurt performance.

On Switch I don't even have many perks unlocked. BBQ was one of the few. It's a total waste to put BP into killers on Switch, the fps and frame drops make the role nearly unplayable. Unrelenting might be worth it, but again, it'd have to be unlocked early; it's general pool so it's total RNG and unlocking perks on killers is still too expensive to be worth going far in the Bloodwebs.

I'm having the complete opposite experience. I'm surprised at how steadilly the bp is still coming in without having to sacrifice 1/4th of my build

Ofcourse the more matches you play the more bbq did. If you're someone who plays 10+ matches a day you'll probably feel it a bit more but if you play that much then you will reach the point of having all the perks you want sooner rather then later. With or without bbq

For casual players. I don't think the difference is that big

That's cool for the people who aren't affected and don't care about the removal of BBQ/WGLF stacks. For those who do care, there's nothing to replace it. There are fifty different gen/slowdown perks, a killer can choose which ones like they best. DS got nerfed but a small BT became base kit and OTR got buffed. A lot of stuff got messed with but it still exists in some manner within the game. Except the stacks. The stacks are just gone.

So, for those of us who used them as a nice little goal that rewarded us with BP, whether we needed the BP or not, it's just gone. And any survivor or killer who wants items, add-ons, or offerings rather than perks now has a much bigger slog of a grind to get through with all those useless Bloodwebs at the beginning of a prestige level. I have so many mist offerings I can't use mist offerings mist offerings make my PS4 fans go nuts why are they even still a thing?! sigh.

They doubled your bp earned in a match

    Play 3 matches

25k on avarage per match means 75k earned

    Bbq earned 75k

You did a dailly for 30k

You completed 2 archive challenges one 25k and one 35k

In one of the matches you used a pudding for 25k

    265k bp earned

    28% was from bbq

Quite a chunk but nowhere near doubled

That's without rank rewards, any login bonusses and only a single offering. Survivors throwing in bps or cakes and the amount bbq does shrinks very fast. The higher end of archives give 50-60k

A lot of the bp we earn is outside of the match. Bbq didn't affect that

There is a dailly login bonus going on now for 50k. That's 2 avarage matches worth of bbq vallue jusy for login in

Dailies, logins, Tome challenges, that stuff is limited.

I used BBQ/WGLF every match. Any day when I played, I'd make a couple hundred thousand at least just from the stacks. Not to mention, beyond the BP, it felt rewarding. I had a goal that wasn't just "kill" or "escape." It was something I could do every match and it made my matches more enjoyable.

I played during the Double Rift Fragment event every day. My BP gains felt awful. I completed the newest Tome level 1, did Dailies, collected every login bonus, but not having the BBQ/WGLF stacks meant my earnings were half of what they usually are. I earn maybe 2k to 4k more in a match due to the raised caps, but that in no way makes up for it not being doubled.

  • Do you mean that you see a Prestige number for a player's character in the lobby, but that same player's character has no prestige on the end tally screen?

If so, I have also seen that. I have no idea why it happens. The one time I specifically remember, I think the person disconnected or they at least left the match after dying and it showed as having disconnected, so maybe that had something to do with it.

  • I just see different slowdown perks and more of them. I don't see BBQ hardly ever. On PS4 I replaced BBQ with Deadlock for now. Seems counterproductive of BHVR, ruining a popular easily countered tracking perk just to open up a slot so killers could use more slowdowns. As survivor, I'd much rather a killer run BBQ than a gen/slowdown perk.

  • I dunno how long the survivor queue is right now, but killer queue is instant. I'm in the midwest USA region, not sure what server.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

And likewise I won't presume to dictate to anyone how to play their game, and I think your heart is absolutely in the right place, but I would at least consider the following:

    1. Mercy as a practice isn't helping your opponents get any better, which can lead to #2:
    2. Sparing survs all the time will artificially inflate their MMR, which may lead to them hitting a wall of demoralization when they run into killers who aren't going to let them escape, and will likely just mercilessly body them. So trading fun now for pain later, maybe.

There's a big gray area between throwing someone in deep end and never helping them out of the kiddie pool, between coddling and ruthlessness, and good intentions my lead to a worse overall experience.

    But to each their own.

BHVR needs to fix their game. I enjoy the mechanics of killer, the powers and stuff, but killing is unrewarding as the hook animation is lackluster, and survivors get a very large chunk of their BP from escaping. That shouldn't be the case at all, survivors should get points for participating and winning should be its own reward. When I know that killing a survivor rewards me with next to no BP but takes 5k+ away from them, I just don't enjoy it. Knowing that ruins my fun.

I mean, there's more to it than that. A lot of other things factor in. I play on PS4 and Switch, performance issues on the Switch mean playing killer "seriously" is miserable, the simplest act of trying to hit a survivor is super frustrating, so I have to make my own fun there. If I can get some amusing moments with my zombies, then that makes me happy.

Part of the problem is that DbD has all these unique elements that draw in players, but then a lot of those players don't enjoy the elimination part of the game. That leads to conflicts because playstyles and goals don't mesh. The elimination part is one side's goal, yet a lot of players on both sides seem to view it as "optional" simply because they don't enjoy that aspect. It's weird if you think about it, but you can see that very thing in this thread. Even I seem to be that way, which is dumb, I'm playing an elimination game but would ditch the elimination part in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. Or maybe I'd be okay with the elimination part if it were handled better.

In terms of matchmaking... MMR never seems to work properly in my matches. As both killer and survivor, the skill levels of the players in my lobbies are a total crapshoot.

I don't know, I think the chasing and stabbing and downing is pretty fun. To be honest the killing is the most boring part, because then you can't chase them anymore. They just hang there all sad.

That's an amusingly succinct way to put it, I like that. 👍️

I used to say about the same thing but more in terms of BP. Once they're dead I can't farm BP off them anymore. lol

iirc, I've managed to get a little over 35k BP with double-hooking and no kills.

I've played several matches today against the clown. This has NOT been "Kill Switched".

If someone hasn't restarted their game since the Clown was Kill Switched, then they will still be able to play as Clown. That happened to me back when Mikaela released and Boons were almost immediately Kill Switched, but I hadn't restarted the game yet.

and why do they want it everywhere ? like the cosmetics now, why would anyone want that?

I get it cartoons are nice, you have fun watching them, etc. but I would hate for bhvr adding DuckTales or Bravestarr or Biene Maja Cosmetics to the game because it doesn't fit the game,

it's the same with all the anime stuff ... Jesus will I be chasing Survivors in Pokemon Costumes next?

will I be chasing Survivors in Pokemon Costumes next?

Lumping all anime together is like lumping all American films together. There are just as many genres in both. Equating Pokemon with Attack on Titan is like equating Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory with 1987's RoboCop. While you could show RoboCop to young children, I wouldn't recommend it.

Animation in Japan is not the same as animation in America. Just like there are different movies and books for adults and children in America, there are different anime and manga for adults and children in Japan. Anime is not necessarily what Americans consider "cartoony," and there's lots which fall into the horror genre or deal with very mature topics.

  • I want the BBQ/WGLF stacks back so bad. They should have been made base kit. I played for BBQ stacks as killer. That was my goal, that was my win condition. Playing without it feels empty. Worse, on Switch, it's really not worth the headache of attempting to hook people without that bonus.

  • I don't like them showing my prestige to others, either. It's a horrible mistake to show it in the pre-game lobby, and I personally don't want them shown on the end-game tally screen, either. There should at least be an option to make prestige levels private.

As to why they did it: They want spark competition over prestige levels amongst the playerbase. There's really no other reason. They upped the prestige level to 100, creating this new massive but voluntary grind, and they show off prestige levels to others to get people invested in pointlessly grinding for an unnecessary higher prestige level. Now, both playing within a match and grinding are competitive sports.

Edit: BTW, showing it in the pre-game lobby could be a way to try to force players who aren't competitive to care about their prestige levels. If you're being judged by your teammates or the killer before the game even starts, you don't want to look like the weak link. I hope that's not the case, though, as making people's experiences unnecessarily worse just because you want them to grind more would be horribly manipulative.

  • Terrible change. Completely nonsensical, I don't understand why BHVR did it.

  • I'd love Sister Nikoletta, Robert Englund, and Mark Hoffman, but I need Classic Nemesis. Nemesis is my main, and I hate his updated trash bag look. I have impatiently wanted Classic Nemmy ever since he released.

Wait, you're going to complain about them doing nothing, while you were also doing nothing?

I wasn't doing nothing. I had been messing around, chasing and what not, killing zombies that got too close, and then after a bit they went into hiding. In both cases they seemed fine with it and meme'd with me before disappearing and avoiding the gens. I'm not fond of combing the entire map for four hiding survivors, but I ended up having to do that in multiple matches. Sometimes the zombies help find them, but their AI is crap and they get stuck on everything in the environment, so RNG often isn't on my side there.

Nothing wrong with that. By the way you were talking i thought you were afking or something

Oh, okay. Yeah, I can see that with how I mentioned XP. No, I am in there playing, just not playing seriously.

You might want to not just let the do gens and leave. As bad as those who rage quit. Just not playing the game properly hurts. Regardless of your opponents intentions.

My intentions are: I enjoy memeing. I rarely enjoy killing. I had to kill survivors for the Tome challenges and I didn't feel good doing it. But chasing and using a killer's power is fun, I enjoy that. Plus, I'm mostly playing on the Switch right now, and that's painful as killer. If I cared about killing while I play on the Switch, I would actually cry. That's how bad the performance is. I can have fun messing around and chilling; I can't have fun if I try to get downs and hooks. If BHVR ever optimizes the game or brings the promised cross-progression with PC, then maybe playing killer for real will be enjoyable.

If the game had a casual mode I could queue up there, but there's only the one game mode.

  • The skill check is just there to make sure Switch players have no chance at ever using DS.

  • I just posted this elsewhere, but today I had two matches in a row where the survivors refused to do gens and leave.

In the first one, they did 4.99999 gens. They got the final gen a tap away and then refused to finish it. I never kicked it. I got tired of waiting and killed them all. I usually wait the survivors out, but it had gone way past 10 minutes and I wanted to get into another match so I can actually take advantage of the Double Rift Fragment event.

In the following match, they refused to touch gens at all. 10+ minutes later, not a single gen was done. Like I said, I usually wait that crap out, just put the controller down and go get a snack or something, but my matches are going long enough as is at times, I'm not sitting around for an hour not earning XP.

They actually dragged the match out. Instead of doing gens and getting out quickly, we stayed in the match for an extended amount of time for no good reason. There was nothing pressuring them, nothing stopping them. They weren't moving on quicker to a new match, that's for damn sure.

This kind of stuff happens occasionally, but twice in a row is weird. Add to it that in the past few days I've had a bunch of survivors who refused to take the win even when they were like 80 seconds away from escaping, even going so far as to kill themselves by zombie, and it becomes outright ridiculous. And a freaking waste of everyone's time. It'd be so much quicker to do gens and die to the entity, this is bafflingly inefficient.

Edit: I'm not saying it's any kind of conspiracy. It's just dumb.

The past few days have been really stupid. No other way to say it. I've had weird matches before, but never so many in such a short period of time.

  • BBQ/WGLF stacks should be base kit to encourage fun gameplay.

Put Self Care back to its normal speed. Revert all the changes to Botany.

Thana didn't need a buff, and I think deactivating Ruin was enough of a change without nerfing the regression speed.

Iron Will should be 75% normal, 100% while crouching, and get rid of the Exhaustion nonsense.

Calm Spirit should let you activate the ability to cleanse or do whatever silently, so you're not slowed down when you don't need to be.

Pharmacy should also let you activate the ability to pull out a med kit, instead of forcing its own condition of being injured.

  • I dunno why BHVR doesn't do more "activate ability by pressing a button" type things. Like with a Styptic on a med kit, you hit a button to use it. Why not the same with Pharmacy? You hit a button while searching the chest and it guarantees a med kit. You want a med kit your first time searching a chest? Great! You never have a moment where you want a med kit? That's fine, too. The difference between "whenever injured" versus "when you choose" isn't game-breaking, it just gives players a choice and would keep a potentially useful perk from being totally useless. If the number of possible med kits is too high, then just give Pharmacy a maximum number it can pull.

  • The Endurance effect has been a hot topic for discussion since the PTB went live. Historically this status effect has been used very sparingly, but with the advent of new ways to get the effect, some of you made it your personal mission to chain together as many Endurance effects as you could.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/341

Yeah, playstyles in the PTB got the Endurance effect nerfed before it went live. The Endurance effect will no longer protect you from going down if you already have the Deep Wound status effect.

  • My killer queues went back to being instant last night. (USA midwest region) I think a new Tome coming out often messes with the queues a bit, but everyone usually assumes it's the patch that caused the change. Things usually even back out before long.

I do think that in this case giving survivors a huge BP bonus and then ripping it away may have done some damage, but I have no proof of that.

I agree its definitely a BHVR problem if they don't already account for the large amount of the community that seems to let survivors escape. The whole point of my post was to make people aware that by letting survivors go the numbers are skewed and the amount of kills killers are averaging would probably be higher.

The numbers are fudged, anyway. BHVR designed a game with a team role that isn't a team role because on their own Steam page they say, "or play selfishly." How do you balance for that? It only takes one survivor to tank the team. One. And yet we don't have HUD icons or anything else to help with coordination. Not long after SBMM went live, BHVR themselves said SWF in higher MMR escape 15% more often, yet we're still here without improvements for solo players.

Survivors skew the numbers more than anyone. Constantly in my solo queue I get people who suicide on the hook or sandbag the team. Survivors who refuse to participate and even touch a generator. How do you adjust the game for that? The game is balanced to be a 4v1, not a 3v1v1 or 2v2v1.

In most of my survivor matches, there's at least one if not multiple survivors who practically do the killer's job for him. Meanwhile, I don't necessarily come across a single friendly killer in a week's time. The overwhelming majority don't even give the hatch to the final survivor. The occasional friendly killer does not make up for the number of survivors who get themselves and their teammates killed. At least not in my region/MMR bracket.

By the way, here's BHVR saying that getting the hatch does not correlate to skill and does not count as a win for the survivor or a loss for the killer:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz7f_WPutq8

    Refusing the hatch is unnecessary.

Don't run team aura perks as solo q player. It's depressing watching someone self care in the corner for a full minute.

^ This. I always run Empathy, and it's depressing seeing how teammates go into a corner and just hide after they get injured. I've run Bond and discovered teammates who do nothing but crouch around the edges of the map waiting for everyone else to die. It's abysmal, the devs need to give their matchmaking some intelligence and put these survivors in lobbies together and not with people who actually participate in the match.

Your objective as killer is to get as many survivors as you can. If you wanna let survivors go then do that just know that when you do you are skewing the numbers. It seems that a lot of the killers on this post are saying they will let full groups of survivors escape in multiple games they are playing. If this keeps happening of course the average is going to be off. Play how you want to but the game is intended for the killer to get as many survivors as their skill can allow. Same with survivors if they are better than the killer they deserve the win. Letting survivors escape doesn't help them to be better at the game.

If BHVR doesn't like it, then the game needs a casual mode or something for the non-serious gamers who just want to meme around. Otherwise, I guess I'm stuck in the normal queue letting all four survivors escape. Sucks for BHVR's numbers, I guess.

I've always known I'm theoretically skewing the numbers, but if both of my accounts haven't been blacklisted from BHVR's stats (given how I'm an outlier in terms of how on average maybe 1 out of every 40 survivors I play against dies), then that's on BHVR.
