You took time to find their stream and come off as sarcastic, even if that wasn't their intent. Killer is inherently a more difficult role to fill, and when they're given a map for a killer that makes it even more challenging, especially if they aren't as skilled, then the last thing they want to hear is a 'gg.'
Yes, I took time to pull up someone's stream so I could be nice to them after they had a rough match. You make that sound much more sinister than it actually was.
I said "GG. Sorry you got a map that sucks for Huntress. I hope you have a good evening". If someone offers to shake your hand and you spit in their face, your behaviour is rotten, regardless of what excuses you come up with.

The big difference between Ghostface and Myers is that Ghost can crouch and poke only his head around corners whereas Myers can't do this so Ghostface isn't in as bad of a spot as Myers is when it comes to being able to stalk survivors in the environment. Also not to mention that Ghostface takes much less time to make a survivor Exposed than Myers typically does which usually means that survivors have less time to spot him poking his head around something in the environment. If all of that makes sense to you at least-

The only reasons his Tombstone addons have only ever been buffed over the years is due to the fact that they're currently the only things keeping him from instantly dropping to the bottom of the killer tier list. Once Myers is reworked into a more healthy and viable state these addons will likely either be comepletely reworked, retired/decomissioned, or just simply nerfed. However though Judith's Tombstone may potentially stay due to the fact that it's actually more balanced than Tombstone Piece is and because of the fact that there's, as we all know, an achievement tied into it for Myers called "Evil Incarnate" which isn't exactly possible to achieve with just Tombstone Piece giving Judith's Tombstone more of a reason to remain in the game than Tombstone Piece.
I've never held the view that just because a character is weak, that justifies them having something that is stupid and awful to go against. It's like Ice Climbers in Melee. It's true they suck, but that doesn't justify them having an infiinite grab loop. If it's awful to go against, it should go.
I don't care too much about Judith's Tombstone. At least it makes him slow as hell. Tombstone Piece on the other hand is absolutely disgusting. It turns him into the best tunneler in the game, as he can usually kill someone in under two minutes, sometimes completely crippling the survivor team before they even get two gens done. Even if there's no rework coming, Tombstone Piece should still be disposed of.
-
Give him whatever buffs he wants as long as Tombstone Piece goes in the trash.
-
I wish killers couldn't slug someone coming in for the rescue to disable the mechanic. I got proxy camped by a Wraith, he downed a guy trying to unhook me, which disabled the unhook progression and proceeded to face camp me for free whilst watching the guy bleed out.

So match loads and within the first few seconds I'm not kidding maybe 5 seconds in someone DCed because we were facing a Wesker who brought that add-on where everyone starts infected. I'm sorry but if someone DCs extremely early into the match then cancel the match because yes having an AI teammate is fine but you also realize that their not going to be that intelligent to loop or basically be at least a pro most AI survivors I've been put with basically act like a survivor who just bought the game. Now I get it, it's AI it won't just magically know everything but I'm just saying if someone DCs beginning of the match then cancel the match because basically you've taken three steps forward and four steps back with the AI survivor you've implemented something to prevent survivors panicking because Nea and Ace didn't like that their map didn't get picked or that the Dwight wasn't wearing the outfit they wanted but you've backed up because if it's beginning of the match the AI will doom people because it won't know how to loop or avoid that obvious Trapper spot on the map.
Anyways blah blah crying my eyes out because something I find is unfair typical stuff I'm probably doing another joke build and challenge soon if you have a survivor or killer you want me to pick I'm all ears(not the perk).
I completely disagree. The bots are not fine. They are terrible.
The rest of your statement seems reasonable though.

"GG" is not a consoling statement when it's said to someone being stomped, from the person who did the stomping. Because for them, it likely was not GG.
But more importantly, when someone is in a bad mood over losing, their bad temperament can make them interpret anything as an insult, no matter how innocuous or well-intentioned.
I don't why people bother to stream when their attitude is that bad. If I had the personality of week old roadkill I wouldn't want to put it on display.

I had a semi- similar experience. Escaped by the skin of my teeth (death hook, injured, killer right there) and saw afterwards that it was a streamer I've followed for awhile. They didn't have TTV in their name, I just recognised it as I follow them. Went to their stream to say I'm glad to have had a game with them and ggs. Their response was pretty much that they're glad I was happy but it obviously wasn't a ggs for them. I wasn't banned though, and they werent particularly nasty about it. As I said, the game was *close* and had they managed to kill me I'd have still said the exact same thing, ggs and all. I didn't see the issue but I don't bother commenting in streams anymore.
Sounds better than my experience. I won't bother going to anyone's stream in the future.

At least I know it's not a streamer worth watching. I think they were raising money for charity too. I got banned before I could make a donation lmao

I feel like a lot of the killers just aren't that interesting. Chucky, Xeno and Artist are all really good, but their powers just aren't very unique or satisfying to use. Billy, Huntress and Whiskers are pretty straight forward, but at least their powers feel good.

I hate the bots. Disconnecting players used to drop items, usually a nice flashight. Now the bot keeps them.

I don't believe it's about threatening to quit over a perk change; rather, it's adding a perk that presents a final obstacle at the end of all the challenges a Killer already faces. It's essentially the last moment before a Survivor scores a point. To put it in perspective, it would be akin to Pain Resonance activating to blow up the generator when it reaches 99% completion. The logic is the same, yet one is much more insufferable to experience.
I don't necessarily think that this buff to Breakdown would be the best choice. But any changes that limit tunneling will be met with a massive backlash. Anything that is added needs to be mediocre or else it will cause hysterics. But if it's not good then it's not going to have any impact.
I think we are just better off waiting for the update to DS. I'm just hoping it's a rework instead of just granting a longer stun.
-
I'd be lying if I said that never seeing a Wraith player again would not vastly improve my DBD experience. Killer bans will never happen but it's nice to dream.
-
@Emeal said:
I agree that Breakdown might not be very useful except in specific situations, such as when the same hook is repeatedly used, resulting in multiple people being swapped with the hooked person.
However, your suggestion seems quite powerful, and I can imagine that it might not be well-received by Killers. This perk could potentially be the final straw in a series of hurdles they already face in trying to hook someone and I perceive this as a tool that players might actively use to get in the Killer's face, specifically to destroy a hook right in front of them.
In all fairness, killers threatened to quit the game when the HUD was introduced. I'll never forget the hysterics, followed by the realisation that it didn't really matter that much. I don't know what the devs should do to fix tunneling but whatever they do would need to be powerful, as otherwise it won't ever stop.

You're assuming the intent behind every reason why the player does it is of no ill will. If you think every time a killer moris a survivor they're doing it to say GG then I don't know what to tell you. You're speaking from your own perspective on this. It most certainly does not reflect the experience of every player out there. I know from my own experience with my friends and that of the thousands of other players I've played with that moris have not been received well by everyone. Maybe it would be different if moris were a basekit feature for killers since the beginning players would see them differently but they've always been an optional way to eliminate a survivor. You don't have to do it, so when a killer does do it I hope you can see how players could take it as a form of BM.
It's impossible to know what someone's intent is behind using a mori. If you assume the worst of someone's intentions then you tend to end up seeing toxicity everywhere. I've played plenty of games where someone perceives BM purely because they are in a bad mood. One time someone said I was being toxic because I did air combos on them in Tekken. It wasn't toxic. They were just upset that I beat them and they wanted some justification for their salt and subsequent outburst.
A lot of perceived toxicity is just the recipient having a bad attitude. There's plenty of BM in this game, but using a Mori alone isn't enough to dermenine that.

This is THE perfect response. Once you can cook with Legion, it's almost always a vibe.
I don't know why, but the killers that people hate facing the most seem to have the best attitudes. Nurse, Plague, Legion, Twins and Pinhead players are usually in a good mood. It's super rare that they get ugly.
-
I tend to find more experienced killer players are more chilled out and don't tend to get tilted by getting outplayed or when they make mistakes. Whereas less experienced killers tend to aggro pretty easily. Most of the BM I get comes from Wraith players. Which makes sense as the killer is very popular with less experienced killer players. I think Legion is often chosen by newer players, so that might explain it. Rarely do I see a toxic Susie though.
-
I honestly think a large rework is unlikely. I'm becoming more inclined to think something like a basekit OtR mechanic would be a better choice. No scratch marks/grunts of pain/blood/aura and enough endurance that killers can't just count to ten and re-down the survivor. Have it last for about a minute or so, or until another survivor is hooked. In return give the killer KI so they can quickly engage in another chase.
You wouldn't even need the mechanic to be active for the entire match. Just long enough that the killer can't tunnel one person out before a couple of gens are done.
Tunneling and camping doesn't need to go away entirely, but it shouldn't be an option to basically ensure a win within two minutes of the match starting. Failing that just give survivors the ability to vote to end a match when someone gets tunnelled out early. Nobody wants to play through matches like that. Forcing survivors to do so just frustrates everyone and that frustration spills over into other matches and ruins them too.
There's nothing wrong with adding more basekit tools if it makes the game more enjoyable. It's not like DbD started off from a foundation of great balance. The game has needed a lot of changes to get where it is now.

I get annoyed at team mates too, probably unreasonable on my end tbh. I have to remind myself that survivors today have over 30 killers they have to learn to play against. Some of whom get tweaked or reworked, sometimes to the point of having to learn to counter them all over again. Chases vary depending on the killer's powers and perks, there are numerous tiles to learn, etc. It's easy to forget my own early days of DBD, but there's alot to learn for survivors.
I once tried to get rid of Corrupt Intervention by cleansing a nearby dull totem. Life is hard when you only have 3.5 brain cells available for problem solving activities.
-
I'm convinced that 90% of the community's toxicity comes from Wraith players and the other 10% comes from Bunny Feng's. Both are evil and should be sent out into the desert without water.
An honorable mention goes to Nancy players who glare at you for missing even one skill check. Even with tier two madness and Huntress Lullaby active they won't cut you any slack.

Gen rushing had been deleted with this mode.
All we hear on the forums is that killers 'have to tunnel' for various (bs) reasons. Especially that they are 'forced' to do so.
This event is the opportunity for killers in general to show that they genuinely, truly are looking to have 'fun' gameplay being the 'power role' and 'horror element' of the game. Killers have all of their tracking powers available to them, chases are crazy short with no perks available, gens are not getting 'rushed', and killers are given literally *free stealth* to boot.
And they're CHOOSING to use that power to camp and tunnel.
Every single reason people give on these forms for 'having to camp and tunnel' is crap. 100% demonstrated by this event. The vast majority of killers aren't playing for fun, they just want to win, no matter what happens with game balance.
And this mode completely confirms that no matter what the devs do balance wise, there's no incentive or buff that will ever reduce tunneling. Any killer buffs, changes, or nerfs to survivors will always be used to camp and tunnel harder.
I kind of figured this out when survivors were wasting time throwing snowballs during the winter event and killers just hard tunnelled everyone to death lmao
-
I'd be curious to see how long a Singularity could hold a 3 gen against a coordinated team. Even with only 8 regression events per gen I bet the match could still be drawn out for quite a long time.
-
It's a shame that the mode is only available for a week. It sounds like people have found ways to cheese matches in ways that is making it kind of miserable for survivors. Hopefully they get some feedback and tweak it so we can give it another go.
They said we are only getting a new mode once every 6 - 9 months, so there's no reason they can't modify it a bit and relaunch it.

Sad but it does feel that way.
It's difficult to imagine what a healthy meta for killer looks like. Camping and hard tunneling are anti-social and just stresses people out instead of generating a fun experience. Extreme gen regression is incredibly boring to play against and almost insurmountable for most solo queue teams.
If I had the option I'd have a game where killers are substantially more lethal and camping and tunneling were much harder to do. But that would require a huge rework to the game as a whole.

The most common solution I see brought up is secondary objectives for survivors.
Sounds a bit too ambitious for BHVR. I'm still expecting the 17 year long Twins rework to be a few number changes and some bugs fixes. Obviously with a side of new bugs.

You'd be surprised how many trails are gen rushed
So how do you fix that without kicking everyone else in the teeth?
-
Tunneling is definitely not fun to play against. It might be necessary against high level SWF, but it's completely overkill against everyone else. Blame BHVR for incentivizing the most anti-social playstyle. A lot of the negativity in the community is a result of them refusing to make any significant changes to the game. Why does Tombstone piece exist still? Cos Myers is weak and they don't want to rework him. So he gets to keep something that makes matches for survivors absolutely miserable.
-
I remember solo queue during the gen kick meta. Even a mediocre killers could trash decent solo queue teams with minimal effort. You just dragged the match out until most resources were gone and survivors were so bored that they wanted to die and move on.
I've still had killers drag out matches over 30 minutes by leaving chase to kick gens. Still didn't reach eight hits on a single gen. Didn't need to. Everybody was miserable and wanted out by then anyway. You need changes that don't harm the majority of the playerbase. Solo queue players can't keep being collateral for SWF being too strong.

Distortion is a godsend against a Nurse running a full aura loudout. I think the perk is necessary in certain matches.
Update: I just finished a match against one and yes, I wish I had Distortion equipped. Can we discuss nerfing Distortion when aura reading is less ridiculous? Nurse doesn't need any more buffs.

My best solo queue match tonight has been against a farming Trapper. And I still died on my way to the gate because I'm an idiot lmao

I don't think people love Billy, they love Billy mains. The OG Billy mains are fun and stylish. Most of the new ones are just jumping on him because he's really strong and easier to use than before. I haven't seen a single M2 only Billy since his rework released.

I agree. It's in a pretty terrible state right now. I think I have one hour of playtime in the last week. Just don't have any interest in playing solo survivor until they make changes. And I don't think they will, because they're way too caught up in the asymmetry/power role aspect and forget that both sides should feel like their gameplay actually matters in a PVP game.
Why would anyone who is remotely competitive enjoy solo queue right now? Your perks don't matter when someone is tunneled out within 2 gens. Your chases don't matter if you have teammates who won't do gens or try to run after the killer when you're being tunneled. I often feel like the trial is a cutscene.
It irritates me when I feel like a game isn't respecting the time of its players. It really irritates me. I have a couple hours every night tops for gaming. To load up DbD, try solo queue, and get matched with a 400 hr teammate who gets hard tunneled out by a 3k hr killer is a complete waste. The outcome of the trial would be the same if I loaded in and went to do laundry. I'm not marveling at the power struggle between survivors and a powerful killer after thousands of hours. I'm frustrated. The matchmaking for solo survivor is so bad that it's hard to justify spending any time on it.
There are so many matches that are completely screwed within a minute of them starting. There's no incentive to keep playing as there's no way to recover from a killer snowballing. If you get even one bad teammate the match is just doomed. Let alone if you have more than one. As killer you always have an opportunity to create pressure if you get one down, even if the first three gens fly by. There's nothing like that for survivor. If the match starts off bad, it's over. Things only get worse as time goes by.
-
Tonight has been awful so far. I've played eight matches, no more than two gens completed in any match. Two matches I've had three slugged teammates at the start. One included all three teammates getting exposed by GF by the time I had completed 20% of one gen and none of them knowing how to run away apparently. I've been farmed off the hook in a deadzone by some stupid TTV, and luckily for me the killer knew how to count to 10, downed me and rehooked me straight away.
I'm genuinely convinced that I will not win a single match today based on matchmaking. I'm sticking it out and working my ass off but it doesn't seem to matter.
This should be a parody but this is what solo queue is actually like:
https://youtu.be/pdv-32ktiI8?si=hZZmAGJ6rHQQ8aqXI bet they managed to gather all this footage in one gaming session.
