  • There is a couple of things at play here, one being they can't differentiate between someone genuinely losing connection or just disconnecting via their wifi or ethernet cable. If the game did differentiate between disconnecting in-game and disconnecting when someone's wifi turns off then people would abuse it that way.

The second thing at play is the argument that people with bad connections shouldn't be punished because they aren't disconnecting on purpose. This is a problem because when someone keeps losing internet or the game crashes repeatedly, then it hurts the other 4 people playing.

The third thing at play is people who get occasionally disconnected. They don't get disconnected often, and when they do there is a minimal ban of close to 5 minutes. For most people it is no big deal, you just wait and play, and if it happens again its time to troubleshoot to see what the issue is.

Unfortunately your experience is not grounds to remove the disconnect penalty as it is. It sounds like you are frustrated over the run of games you played, and the four minute ban was just the icing on the cake. I think most people would feel the same, but if someone is that frustrated where they wont sleep until they win, then just turn it off. Anytime a stress reliever causes stress its time to take a break.

  • I'm not sure what they can do about matchmaking without drastically increasing queue times. Hopefully there is a solution, and I remain optimistic about the changes coming to matchmaking soon.

  • For real life killers I think Jack the Ripper would be their safest bet. I don't think it'd be fair to the victims or their family's if we were to have Jeffery Dhamer or Ted Bundy as playable killers. It would be in poor taste. Jack the Ripper might be a safer bet because he has become almost a mythical figure. Perhaps H.H. Holmes would be interesting, but overall I'd like it if they avoided real life killers.

Licensed I would love a Hannibal Lecter chapter. Have him as the killer and Clarice as the survivor, but I'm not sure what his perks would be. You could make the argument that we already have one cannibal killer, but there's enough meat to go around. The licensed killer I'd least like to see is Pinhead. I never liked the movies, and he would be lame. Alien would be cool, but they'd have to change Alien's meta to get it to be a servant of the Entity. Another killer that I'm pretty sure would be licensed is Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde, but there would be a challenge with having a dual personality that is good in one form and evil in another. They would have to make it so that Dr.Jekyll was also a killer which would kind of ruin the chapter.

Original killers are my favorite, it allows for the most unique killers. I like the spider-human hybrid idea, and I think it'd be great to also add some sort of Lovecraftian monsters in the game.

  • I wouldn't mind a zombie as the killer. It would have to break TWD's meta and be able to move faster, but I would like it more than having Negan or other characters. I love Negan, but he doesn't really scream entity pleasing killer. He would also talk too much and severely displease the entity.

I'd love a playable zombie overall, TWD or not. I would love to play as a tank, witch, or hunter from L4D. Short of zombie I'd like an alien or deadite. The alien doesn't have to be from the Alien series, it'd just be cool to have a freakin' alien.

  • I'm not an expert on the technical stuff by any means, but I am a little worried that if a green rank could only go against green ranks, yellow with yellow, red with red ect., then wait times would be horrendous. I know a lot of people don't feel the same as me, but I would rather get creamed by higher ranks where I can actually play and learn something over playing an epic round of lobby simulation.

Maybe I'm wrong, it just seems to me that if you only match by color ranked then it would take an hour if not longer to find a match. The rank 1 is rough, but the others are within the general range of what's considered acceptable I do believe.

  • Well you're not forced stay in the game, because you can still DC and eat the penalty. If someone is DCing often enough to get a big penalty then they are just ruining the game for the other 4 people involved.

Seriously though, if you have to DC that much because all of the games suck then I would recommend finding a different game. I don't say that to be a jerk or sarcastic, I genuinely mean that if you get large bans for DCing a lot then maybe a less stressful game would be appropriate.

  • Not everything that is annoying is deserving of punishment. Rage quitting and finding an escape that is part of the game are two very different things. I'm not trying to start some drama, but as a survivor you don't owe it to your teammates to make sure they escape. It would be ridiculous for punishing survivors for completing their objectives, which is to escape. If the objective was to make sure everyone escapes then that would be different, but as others have said this is a cooperative game, and not a team game.

After playing for a while I have learned that too much altruism gets me killed 9/10. That's why kindred is my personal crutch perk. If the killer is staying close to the hooked survivor I wont give him another free down or trade hooks. Either get used to playing a little selfish or get used to dying a lot.

  • I say they should implement social distancing. Killers can only play as huntress for long shots, and survivors can't double up on gens. Six feet apart at all times.

All joking aside I have a face mask on my guy in Animal Crossing.

I really don't think he is talking about dc'ing inside the game, but dc'ing before the game loads. He leaves, the match gets cancelled, everyone gets sent back to the lobby. No one really gets hurt. No one loses BP, no one loses PIPs, everyone goes back to the lobby and eventually back to the game. Only person that loses something is the guy who dodged the lobby--he loses an offering. Now if it is clear the killer has a Ebony Mori and it is down to just me and one other, I might dc then especially if I am probably going to depip anyway so the other survivor can perhaps get the hatch. And if the killer was going for some achievement where he needed to Mori everyone and I just stopped him from getting that...well so much the better. Not all that concerned about the concerns of killers.

Everyone loses the time it took to queue up and find a match, which depending on if you're solo survivor could be upwards of 15-20 minutes. I don't know about you, but losing 20 minutes of my time because someone wants to lobby dodge because of a secret offering is probably one of the few things that I would consider toxic in this game.

  • I think that video games would be boring without toxic players. I would quit playing if it was everyone holding hands and frolicking through the fog. I need some drama in my matches.

I'm not toxic 99% of the time, but I get amused when someone teabags me, or clicks their flashlight. They're letting me know they wanna play, so we play, and I enjoy the salt in the endgame chat for tunneling when they themselves asked to be tunneled.

Look man, at the end of the day its a video game. Its a bunch of anonymous people playing against each other, and as history has shown people act like a-holes when they are anonymous. That won't change, so I just embrace the weird and enjoy it. Life is too short to get salty over some kid spamming left control, and I don't mean to sound insensitive, but if that's the worst thing to happen all day, then I would say that's a pretty darn good day.

  • I don't see the problem with taking time off for a video game. If its something someone enjoys, then why not? I know of a lot of people who take time off whenever there is a new Diablo game or WoW DLC.

With that being said, if you do take time off for a DLC that doesn't have an official date for release, you are taking a risk. Even if it does have an official release, delays are always possible. The developers are under no obligation to release it before they feel it is ready to be released. In fact, if they did release it before they felt it was ready to be released there would be issues with bugs and in-game problems.

  • Play as ghostface and teabag them back, or if its that big of an issue play as doc and when they are teabagging at the exit gate just keep shocking them and farm some points. It would be absolutely horrible to ban people for teabagging or flashlight clicking or things that aren't consider cheating but annoying.

  • I like the general idea of cutting down the grinding time. I can't put too much time into the game, I play when I can, but I do find it frustrating that I have to run WGLF to farm bloodpoints to even have a chance at leveling up different characters. I want to play killer more, but I suck with leatherface and with how much time I can play I need to unlock BBQ to get the most out of my time in-game.

I know a lot of people would disagree with cutting down the grinding time, especially when they have already put 1000+ hours into the game, but for the more casual player it would be very beneficial.

  • Should have teabagged while body blocking.

  • Haha its a versus game. Why do people think that killers should let survivors escape, or that survivors should let killers get their kills? You want to escape? Earn it. You want to get kills? Earn it.

Slugging is a good counter to DS and hatch. If you want slugging to be fixed, then get rid of the issues that cause slugging to be an issue. I don't want DS or hatch gone, and I don't want slugging gone.

  • I don't think I'll ever get good at this game. I have only ever put 500 hours into one game and this game aint it, I'll be a perpetual noob. Oh well, since I can't git gud, I guess I'll get my troll on. I'm officially joining the Bubba facecamping clan.

  • Mikey's got legs for days.

  • The Khaleesi

All joking aside, I think it would be cool to have a chain gang type killer from the late 1800's to early 1900's.

I hope its not pinhead. I never cared for the hellraiser movies, and pinhead was always a lame character.

  • Camping is a valid strategy when you have a bunch of heroes wanting to get the hook save and the points that come with it. I play mostly survivor, and I HATE it when I'm on a hook and two or all three of my teammates are hovering around the hook trying to get the save regardless of if the killer is camping. When a killer facecamp's me I will not suicide and try to stay on the hook as long as possible, unless my teammates are all crowding around trying to unhook me instead of working on gens.

Survivors are the reason killers camp. If everyone didn't immediately run to get the unhook then killers wouldn't camp nearly as much. No one should rush to get someone off the hook, you have a decent amount of time before they go into struggle.

  • Good points, peeps. I'll use it until I unlock better aura reading perks. I'm struggling to find survivors unless they are purposefully trying to distract me so I'll take any perk that gives me an edge.

Should I use whispers over bitter murmur? (I main doc when I play killer.)

  • @McLightning said:

In practice, at high ranks, it doesn't actually prove that useful.

I'm curious as to why, do people catch on and book it out of there as quick as possible? Or is it just a wasted perk slot at that rank?

  • I especially think it would be good for an aura reading build such as BBQ, bitter murmurs, discordance, and possibly nurse's calling. Its just a theory I have as a noob killer that one of the best ways to slow the game down is to know where everyone is at.

  • @Mtom912 said:

Survivors are always running when I’m killer, they do it every single game, remove moving

i don’t like killers hitting me, they do it in 100% of games remove hitting

im fully serious I swear :)

Haha, judging by the forums this is what many people want the game to come to. If half of everyone's ideas came to fruition it would be a scary stand in place game.

  • I've been trying to play killer, but its hard to get gud when you are going up against people 6-10 ranks higher than you.

  • I'm low ranks, and it seems it doesn't matter what the gen speeds are when I play survivor. Most of the time whoever I'm grouped with doesn't work on gens. That all changes when I play killer. It seems like everyone focuses on getting gens done instead of farming for hook saves.

Overall I would like gens to slow down a bit, even if its just adding 15 seconds to the gen time. At the very least nerf toolboxes, which I guess the devs have said that's an option they are looking at.

  • I don't know if he's gay, but he sure is thicc.

BHVR has done worse. Nurse went from a killer who was overpowered, but fun to play as, to still the strongest killer, yet hardly anybody uses her because she now feels absolutely awful to play.

A perk got gutted not because of any actual balance reasons, but because some survivors found it "too frustrating" and so they gutted the perk without addressing any of the reasons for why the perk was ran as often as it was in the first place.

Actually I don't think BHVR has done worse. Blizzard completely crapped the bed when it comes to warcraft 3 reforged. They went back on many promises and things they advertised without telling the consumers, and the kicker? They are still promoting some of these features that aren't there. Not to mention the Hong Kong controversy. Oh yeah, lets not forget the infamous "don't you guys have phones?" moment.

BHVR actually invites and listens to feedback from their player base. Do they make changes that people don't like? Absolutely. Does that make them worse than Blizzard's crap storm of douchebaggery? Absolutely not.

  • The best thing you can do when you play as either a survivor or a killer is to learn to enjoy the salty responses.

I’ve played killer enough to know that having no heartbeat i.e Michael Myers (also insta killing on 2nd hook is ridiculous too) and invisibility is nonsense. Who cares if two gens pop on first hook, that’s the most ridiculous defense I’ve ever heard. Like I’ve said before killers should never be entitled to hook or kill anyone. That’s not how games should be. It is killer sided up the ass and if you don’t see that it’s because you’re either oblivious to The fact that squads Of 4 all randoms don’t have a chance most of the time. People back out when they go down and instantly other 3 are behind. The reason I say Killers are way too fast is because survivors have to go around obstacles a LOT and killers can easily cut them off. With such little amount of retries due to insta killing on 2nd hook , hook camping , invisibility , no heartbeat, killers Ability to keep up during chases making them hard to shake unless i pallet loop them? Stupid. I Am just saying it’s just not fun watching teammates get slain and back out before getting hooked and whatnot which really makes it unlikely other 5 gens will get done. I think encounters with killer are happening too fast. Put him on a hill or in a shack like Jason has to be in F13 lmao give me a pocket knife to stun his ass for grabbing me. Killers don’t need to feel entitled to get kills every game. Only way I ever see all 4 get out is if the killers going easy on us on purpose and that’s not right. Sorry, games definitely killer sided.

You say that a killer isn't entitled to a hook or a kill every game, but you're not entitled to survive every game. I play 99% solo and the only time I have a problem is when my team is overly altruistic or farming WGLF. If gens were done any faster there would be no point in playing, literally no point.

I hate the "git gud" trope we see a lot here, but it sounds like you're having a hard time adjusting from F13th, or you're just trolling and I'm taking the bait. Either way enjoy your time in the fog, and remember, perfect practice makes perfect!

via looping and pallets? That’s not what survival horror games are about 😂 a survivors ability to survive is comprised mostly of stealth. Killer Abilities don’t need to bring anyone out of hiding. Your job as killer is to LOOK for them. Not light up the map with static that makes everyone scream 😂 lazy. I’m just saying it’s unbalanced. As a survivor that mostly plays with random people (and most people don’t come in as a team of 4) I feel there’s not enough communication and teamwork to really have 5 long noisy generators to complete because 90% of the time they don’t get done as I’ve been seeing in most of these games because killers mow people down so fast. People back out. How is that fun for 4/5 people of the lobby? My buddy even came in with me and noticed the unbalanced parts of the game as well. So, asking for a little nerf here or a buff there is asking them to change the game? Something has to give. Killers don’t need to get anyone absolutely. That has to be an option. Killers should never be made to feel entitled to any kills. Pressure on killers to protect their generators rather than them sitting on a hooked survivor and waiting until he bleeds out is a problem. They obviously feel too relaxed because, 3 people doing 5 generators isn’t really a priority anymore apparently. I think it’s fair to give more repair speed to those doing generators if killers don’t leave hooks as a way of creating pressure.

How often have you played as a killer? As a survivor main who plays killer sometimes I can tell you that the game is not killer-sided. Play as a killer and have 2 gens pop before first hook and see how much fun it is. Asking for survivors to be as fast as killers is more than a little buff here or a little nerf there, that changes the entire dynamic of the game. Considering the fact that survivors get a warning well before the killer can even see them, the killer would never be able to catch up.

Also I disagree when you say that strategically out maneuvering the killer is not what horror games are about. Running away from a killer is a very large part of the horror genre in general, be it video games or movies. How much fun would it be if gens were done even faster, the killer couldn't catch you, and you could just hide the entire match?

You want to be a final girl, but you don't want to put in the work.

  • @BulletsNonstop said:

killers need to be slowed down too. It’s kinda ridiculous that they can keep up with survivors. F13, Jason’s really slow. Even if survivors can just be a tad bit faster (especially since they can’t really defend themselves other than DS - which requires you to get caught first 🤦🏽 Smh, And pallets which don’t really do much good. Although pallet looping is nice I really don’t think killers should be as fast as survivors since they have the ability to catch you off guard and have a pretty easy time cutting you off on chases.

You're asking for the entire game to be changed. The whole point of the game is that killers are faster and as the survivor you have to strategically out maneuver them via looping and pallets. If they were the same speed then no one would ever get caught. The only way a killer could catch a survivor off guard is if they got rid of the terror radius and perks such as spine chill.

Do you want a game where you just run around faster than the killer, don't get caught, and win every game? This game is challenging for both killers and survivors, it wouldn't be fun if it was a win every time.

There would literally be no point in playing if the devs were to take your suggestions into consideration.

So what if the creator did what he did in real life, this is a video game the creeper would’ve been great and he was planned and scrapped because “can’t implement flying killer.exe” but it was because of the dumb backlash oh nooooo I’m gonna give money to a predator oh nooooo. You’re just preventing good content in the game. Nothing else. This community is like oh we are too pure to have that monsters character in OUR game. Yet you’ll be a toxic survivor or killer and trash talk people on the side. Y’all aren’t saints neither am I so quit putting your ego on top of the pedestal. The creeper is the most obvious entity to become a killer in dbd he’s absolutely perfect in every way shape and form.

Did you compare being toxic in a video game to being a child predator? I hope you understand that one is infinitely worse than the other, and it is perfectly reasonable to not want to support a known pedophile.

  • People have been toxic in online gaming communities since online gaming communities were created. Doesn't anyone remember how vicious people on first xbox live could be? The halo community was severely racist and if I remember correctly used a lot of slurs against homosexuals.

Toxicity isn't new and toxicity isn't going anywhere. DBD has some toxicity, sure, but from my experience it isn't even close to how bad the nearly unmoderated xbox live community was. The amount of crap posting and griefing behavior was 10 times what it is here.

Also I think a lot of things people in this community consider toxic, aren't really that toxic. Is teabagging really toxic? Is tunneling really toxic? What about face camping and hook swarming? They can all be very annoying, but toxic? Not really.

With that being said I've had some pretty toxic endgame chats, but DBD has a pretty nice report system.

  • I love the doctor rework. Not only is he more fun to play against, he is more fun to play as. Now he requires a bit of strategy and perk management to use, but if you use him right he is super effective. It also requires more strategy to play against him too.

He jumped up a tier or two after the rework. Overall, great rework.

  • Why is it okay for survivors to camp the hook, but killers can't? Especially endgame. If all 5 gens are done, and I have a survivor on the hook, should I just go to the corner sucking my thumb and let everyone escape?

  • I wish every killer could t-bag. As far as getting first mori within first 3 minutes of the game, well that's about the same time as the first 2 gens pop so that seems fair to me.

  • I would love a The Shining chapter. It would be great to play as Jack Torrence chasing Wendy with a mallet. (Axe for the movie lovers)

Not sure what his perks would be, but one could be called "dull boi."

  • I don't see how the guy playing killer did anything wrong. You messaged him because you didn't like getting tunneled, which if three gens are done before first hook tunneling is a totally legit option to salvage the game and get at least a 1 or 2k.

What is the killer supposed to do? Let you get away and heal? That attitude is silly to me, and that's coming from a survivor main. The killer's main objective is to get as many as many kills as possible. People playing survivor need to learn to be smart with their altruism, and if the killer is camping the hook then you need to not be altruistic or deal with the consequences. Its not the most fun being camped for sure, but its not really fun for killers to have 3 gens done before first hook, especially when you consider half the options of killers in the game aren't the best at applying pressure.

  • Plague, because all of the hottest ones have at least one transmittable disease.

  • This fan base is the most toxic when it claims things are toxic. Today I had a meg with a flashlight body blocking and trying to distract via t-bagging, I'm a baby still so I'm not that good yet, and so I tunneled the meg, face camped the meg, and got my 1k, which is more than I would have gotten had this meg not been greedy. (I'm pretty trash) After the game I got a lot of heat for not letting them rescue this meg after the last gen popped. What are we supposed to do? Go hide in the corner and let them get the save and escape and say gg?

They are just as entitled to escaping as you are to getting a K. Don't want to die? Don't get hit. Want to get a kill? Get some hits. That's literally the point of the game. You didn't have some moral obligation to let them escape.

  • To clarify, I'm a rank 20 baby doc.

  • There will be a short period of adjustment and then everyone will have a new style of playing, along with the big new problem/change that will "kill the game." After all, this can't be DBD without a big game killing change. Then it will be another period of adjustment, and then there will be another change, and another after that.

Dark times? No, probably not. Annoying times while everyone learns to play different? Most likely.

  • Run kindred or BT and boom, problem solved. Face camping is annoying, but so is gen rushing and survivors who camp for hook rescues... I know this because I used to be one of those survivors who camped hook rescues. Just follow the killer and get my 25% stackable thanks to WGLF.

The penalty for face camping is a 1k game if the team is any kind of decent, and most killers would stop face camping once they realize they are only getting 1k per game.

  • Survivor: I can loop to save my life. I also suck at using dead hard, so I don't use it.

Killer: Too impatient to actually wait in the lobby to play as a killer.
