ptb oni and freddy were very oppresive and unfair to go against. ptb trickster was nerfed because the devs said they received no data from the PTB. that's just the devs not knowing a killer is garbage. I dont think they did it bc there "survivor mains"
Its really not so much the buffs i guess, but definitely the nerfs. If there is a survivor nerf in the ptb it gets cancelled. I'm confident within a few months ds will be buffed, but pop will never last more than 45 seconds again, but every killer nerf goes through. Survivor buffs go through but buffs don't even make it to the drawing board.

He had a much sharper turn radius but they scrapped it and gave him dead angles instead

You are either sarcastic or unlucky by going up against decent solos, i wish my world was like that 😪
People who mostly play solo are better loopers, but they can only go so fast m1ing a gen. So yea the pressure is different, but when I take stock of who tends to be better at looping. Its the solos

Release oni, release freddy, release Trickster, I can go on

a buff most likely wouldn't change anything about how killers do in chase or pressure. It would help survivors communicate more so you dont die on first hook and so your not getting chased for 5 minutes without any gens popping. I 100% agree swf should be nerfed but that's kinda impossible unless they do an action progress penalty IDK
This whole statement is mostly contradictory. If a buff doesn't change killer pressure or chase then its not a buff is it? But if a gen pops because someone said over a com "I'm not healing you so do the gen" and the gen gets repaired before I can reach it then it is a buff.

Depends, if its SWF or Solo. If its SWF then its strong, if its solo then its miserable unless the killer is a potato and fails.
God, most solos I play against are better loopers than most swfs I play against. Using OoO and telling everyone where the killer is is goofy strong yes. But the game is close to balanced in those solo only games.

Ranks don't really matter btw and yes, I did use that line. Why? Because this game has a huge part of the playerbase that play survivor exclusively with their friends. So many people love playing with their friends in this game because obviously it is very fun. Making them wait about 20 minutes for a game that will last around half of that is just bad, and would drive people away from the game. The game is already in a very stale state right now due to bad content patches and lack of content. Like we all have been saying, we need to buff solo queue up to SWF or close to it, and then we can start with buffing killers and everything else.
NOOOOOO. Thats so stupid. Buffing survivors, then killer. How about buff killers THEN you can buff survivors. Never gonna happen, cuz every good killer buff gets cancelled in PTB.

Because every killer has a different power? Not only that but just because people can't come up with a way to buff killers on the spot doesn't mean that they don't want killers buffed, it just means that they want both the survivor and killer experience to be more consistent than it is at the minute.
Right, but that doesn't happen. What happens is a survivor buff goes through without a ptb, a killer gets buffed in a ptb. 4v1 survivors complain while killer tries to explain why it fair, but its 4v1. Survivors stop the killer buff and trickster becomes a trash killer dead on arrival. Now you guys want buffs to survivor to destroy the game before a killer buff could go through.

Ok I think alot of people over estimate how good alot of swf teams are. Dont get me wrong there are alot of good ones, but on average i get 2-3 kills verse a good swf. And solo queue players might be better at looping but this dosent matter because its 100% reliant on your team to do gens, save, heal etc... And to add on that, solo queue will never be the same as swf because even with built in kindred or whatever, thats temporary, where swf gets bond, empathy, all game. Personally, I dont think built in kindred is a reasonable change but something like a comm wheel on the hook IDK.
Look, survivor is strong. They are strong because they are all the same. Survivors are not designed around killers, killers are definitely designed around survivors. This is why survivors don't need a buff. A survivor buff could make nurse bad. I have ideas for convenience for survivors, but not buffs. Like more emotes. but not buffs.

People always claim they can buff solo Q and then "killer buffs will come". What game have these people been playing? Lots of killers STILL need buffs and don't get them. Trapper, the literal poster killer of the game, is in a very very bad spot in the current design. What game have these people been playing to think BHVR will A) actually buff killers and B) not take eleven years to do so?
Look how long it took for Fred. For Bubba. For Wraith to get just a rework. For Clown to get small changes to make him just a little LESS terrible. For Doctor to get a rework to make him less annoying for survivors to face.

That's ridiculous. You shouldn't have to wait a really long time (after an already long queue time) just because you want to play with your friends.
You say that "just to play with your friends" line, but your friends make the game 2x harder for a killer to pip.

I like to mess around as Sombra. Get behind people, hack the rein or hammond, harass the back line. However in QP NO ONE wants a sombra. They keep telling you to switch. Yet at GM lvl Sombras pick rate is massive. She's a great character but people need to push to take advantage of her hacks. Most randoms don't do that and assume she's weak.
I hate sombra. I hate this character with all my being as a doomfist main

Stop being so rude and argumentative, then we can talk.
I don't understand why people come to these conversations expecting everyone else to do the creative work for them while they say some generic ideal that could have explosive impact on the game. If you want to talk in specifics then we have somewhere to go, otherwise it can only devolve into senseless banter

the thing is, its way to easy for alot of killers to dominate in solo queue. And solo queue is 100% reliant on teammates which is pretty much all RNG. SO its not that killers need a buff, but solo queue desperately needs a buff to stay fun and fair
But thats the problem with you guys. You think that, but that is how the game plays in your imagination, and specifically only the games you are involved in. Because 4 people surviving is not an ideal outcome. and in SWF that is effectively always the outcome. So you want 80% of the games at high rank played in dbd to be 4 escapes with the other 20% being when the killer said fk it im tunneling the first dude i see. you ppl aren't thinking about what effect you suggestions would have on this kind of data. Its always what is more fun for me in this particular scenario, but how unfun that would be for every killer who plays at high rank. I mean damn solo survivors already are generally better at looping that 4 mans because they need to be to distract the killer long enough. Now giving them buffs to make them stronger than SWF? You outa your god damn mind.

SWF groups would be in lobbies for hours
Tis the price you pay for effectively 3 additonal free perks per survivor for you whole team
-
@Seraphor said:
People keep talking about buffs and nerfs in terms of numerical adjustments to in-game mechanics.
These are never going to work, because the strength of a SWF doesn't come from any of these things, it comes from great coordination.
Solo play needs to be "buffed" with tools that enable greater coordination.
Thinks like:
- Survivors can view each others perks and item loads outs in the lobby, so they know the capabilities of their team mates.
- Survivors can press a button to trigger a pre-set wap-wide message, something like "Killer is here", "Coast is clear, "Help me", "Leave me". In addition, have this 'ping' in their direction so you know where the message is coming from.
- Make the 'Glass Bead' add-on a default mechanic of all maps.
- Make something 'like' Kindred/Empathy/Bond a basekit feature. Perhaps you can hold down a button to trigger 'Survivor Instinct' which gives you a general direction that each survivor is in.
1 and 2 I don't really have that big of a problem with. you are losing me at 3 and 4. How about give me a killer instinct so I can see where survivors are hiding after I spot them with bbq. No?
I would rework your number 2 and just add more emotes to survivor that have a meaning people understand. Maybe you can press a button that forces you to scream, so suvivors can know where you are (but also killer). also it would be really funny to spam.

The max paired for every two survivors that are paired the killer gets up to a maximum of two additional perk slots. To get these perks there is an entitiy bench in the basement they have to go to, and there they can swap what these two perk slots do. So they can only change those perks. Hex perks cannot be added in game.
If I was gonna to give SWF a disadvantage it would look more something like this

So you lose a few games, and then eventually are back into a normal MMR, where you can play nice and give hatch a lot.
And MMR will be what determines where killers get placed. So essentially yes, every killer with have individual MMR, so that's correct. But not ranks, ranks will be across all killers.
hmm, lose games, be able to do what you want... seems like a fked up reward system

Ranks will not be used in matchmaking. Each individual killer has their own MMR value, which is decided behind the scenes and cannot be seen in any way, which is used for matchmaking. Survivors will share one MMR value. Ranks will instead be used as a signal for playtime that month.
A signal for playtime that month with an incentive to play both sides because you get more rewards. So rank means something. Sounds like a good change, but one hell of a grind every month. Sigh

They will probably be paired with killers at the level of the highest level survivor on their team/swf.
They won't get easy wins for long, soon they will be facing those nurses and spirits they will learn to hate.
It means lower ranks are less punishing.
Whilst higher ranks are competitive.
They're also adding a rank reset back to 20 and rank rewards when this happens.
Reset back to 20? Does that mean every killer has its own individual rank?
-
@ilovedbd123 said:

Yeah, exactly. Low ranks face low ranks (of course it'll take time to get proper readings) and high ranks with high ranks.
They will not know exact things, and there will still be boosted players, but not to the same extent.
Also swf will only play on their level.
My problem with this, is that MMR is no indication about how you intend to play, just how you must play if you don't want to depip. If you want to run a more relaxed build but you are going to go against sweaty 4man squads, you gonna have a really annoying game, and essentially will have to play sweaty every game no matter what.

They've tested it recently and I reckon by next chapter (anniversary) it'll be live.
That'll be quite the way to kick things off.
Definitely a way to help the game.
Lower ranks not facing nurse mains.
Upper ranks not facing new nurses.
That sort of thing.
This is a positive I have to admit, but it does make the possibility of us getting some kind of lobby indicator for swf a thing. Also, that indicator is a buff to so solo survivors as well. Because if the solo's know who are queued together, they can make certain assumptions of how they should play around them.

That's a great point actually, I know I would use it like that if it were a thing. However, it wouldn't change the fact that some friends wouldn't be able to find matches in ages. Doesn't even matter if they are good at all. Even the better SWFs players shouldn't not be able to play this game normally
I appreciate you trying to see it from my point of view

@ilovedbd123 said:

As soon as MMR is implemented, killers will have separate MMR for each killer.
This means that you cannot swap in lobby due to the fact you'll be paired with other people of your MMR.
So yeah, if your good at a certain killer you'll be put against better people and unable to switch, but you should only be against people you can handle.
when is this happening?

You can't change killers because of the eventual mmr system, it's already collecting data for when it eventually does get put in game
I get it, sometimes I too want to meme with certain perks but then I get destroyed with a sweat squad. But showing people that are together doesn't seem to be the best solution here
The point is entering those games knowing that you will likely get shiit stomped if you try to take some meme build. It encourages killers to go lighter on the solo's and try new things out and test their skills against good an organized team.

Adjustments to early game and overall pallet strength?
That's what I'm talking about with you guys tho. Its never specific. Some generic low thought idea that someone else has to come up with, which would mean behavior. And that means we get some shittie endgame collapse equivalent idea. If I said something like, make it so keys can't spawn in chests, survivors would go fking crazy.
-
@DeadHardMan said:
When people say "buff solos to SWF level", it doesn't mean Killers can't be buffed. If you buff solo survivors to SWF level, you can then buff Killers accordingly, no longer will you have to divide the survivor community into two groups. Before, Solos were at an enormous disadvantage in contrast to SWF.
How would you "nerf" SWF? Make them work on gens slower? Reduce their movement speed? These are not good balance decisions for people wanting to play the game with their friends, it's a good way of killing the game's population. So really the best solution is to buff solos to SWF level then increase the power levels of Killers so that they're both on even ground.
I already told someone else I wouldn't nerf anything. If anything I would just put an icon that shows what survivors queued together in lobby. I know it would result in more dodges, but then maybe people would stop playing swf less often as a result and it would be better except for sweaty survivor mains who only play in 4 man depip squads.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2095782#Comment_2095782
That's probably the only way how you could nerf SWFs, but that would just make most killers dodge them. Honestly, most would rather take their chances and dodge and try to get a more easier match with all solos
I mean, the devs made this brain dead decision to make it so you couldn't switch the killer you selected after you jumped into a lobby. To avoid that situation, they should reverse that decesion. Because if you know a challenge is coming, you will want to switch to a sweatier build, or not take meme perks that survive with friends easily counter.

This is the thing about you people tho. You always say buff survivors and then have specific suggestions. But don't worry, killer buffs would come, I just don't care what they are or would be because really I just want to buff survivors. If you gonna make these suggestions for how to buff survivors by giving them kindred at base or a garunteed obsession without anyone running obsession perks or add-ons, tell me the corresponding buff for killer that would "come afterwards"
-
@[Deleted User] said:

I wouldn't nerf a thing right now. If anything at all, I would just add an icon to survivors who queued together in the lobby. for the sake of other survivors and killers. Just so people know what is going on.

But they won't get rid of SWF because that would kill the game so work with me here and look at the bigger picture.
Solo survivors get buffed in ways that doesn't affect SWF. SWF power level remains the same, solos rises up.
Killers can now be buffed and maps reworked with this new level of coordination and information in mind.
The game becomes more balanced.
It's easier to balance a 4v1 when the team of 4 are all given the same information as each other, or close to it.
Kindred is too powerful of a perk for that. If its gonna be base, then showing other survivors might be ok, but showing the killer is absolutely broken. Maybe if Kindred gave you the ability to see the killer when hooked or when someone else is hooked and the base kits showing survivor then maybe.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:

Solos shouldn't have to use perks and items for information SWF get for free and granting them this information basekit would be a step closer to actually being able to balance the game.
Making survivor stronger does not make the game more balanced. If you want to balance the game, they should get rid of survivor with friends.
-
Kindred shouldn't be base kit, because immersion is still a thing. I know many people here don't care, but for new players that would break the mood that gets most people in the game started. Also no... because survivors don't need a buff. You want the aura read, spend a perk slot... its a base game perk ffs
