But how am I supposed to vote with my wallet, when there's nothing I need or want available, right now? And how will they know that me not buying the next new cosmetic or dlc they release, is me trying to vote with my wallet, and not just me waiting for a good sale, like I always do?
-
No no no, that's not how money works.
New Player Base That Falls Off Fast =/= Money Money
Larger Player Base = Money Money
The goal isn't to con newer players, into spending money, before they bounce off the late game.
It's to con newer players, into continuing to play the game, till they become old players who come to the forums, to complain about things, but keep playing the game, anyway. Gain and Retain is the name of the game.
Then you con people into paying for your DLC and Cosmetics and Battlepasses. Because the number of people willing to pay for your stuff, is directly proportional to the number of people playing your game, not the number of newer players who won't continue playing past a certain skill level.

No, it's not and here's why. If you're getting a 50% against potatoes, it's going to be a 0K against people that actually know this game. This game needs to be balanced around a Ruthless killer against the very best in this game.
Look at say Starcraft, an actual professional game that's balanced by professional developers. They balance everything right at the top, because it's maximum potential, new players can learn to play like that. The game is fine, but the player is bad. BHVR is balancing at the bottom, which allows bad survivors to win, and great survivors to dominate.
StarCraft is also a game published and developed by a massive corporation that's got lots and lots of money. They can afford to keep a game going on just balance patches with a focus exclusively on eSports (which also makes them lots of money).
Dead by Daylight, however, is a smaller game from a smaller studio, that constantly adds new content (not just balance changes, like StarCraft) and doesn't make any money off of a large eSport Scene. Instead, it relies exclusively on MicroTransactions to make a profit. MicroTransactions, you might notice, don't make all that much money, unless you have a larger playerbase. Something you're not going to manage to do, if you're only balancing your game for the couple hundred hardcore high level players.

But like, Devour Hope is a Hex Totem that you defend, to make you better at killing survivors you run into, and the stuff it does it just too powerful to be a permanent buff.
This new Ruin, is a Hex Totem that you defend, so that you have to defend your remaining Generators for it to do anything. Like, if you're busy making sure that no one messes with your Hex, you're Hex isn't actually doing anything, cause the Survivors just won't leave the gen they're on.
-
I think Surge would just be better option, than Ruin. It won't disappear from the match, if you get bad RNG.
-
Praise be to based Corrupt Intervention.
A Hex Totem that slows down the late game, is a Hex Totem that does nothing in 90% of matches, because the Survivors already found it.

-
Find the hatch and wait for your teammates to get themselves killed.
-
Confirmation Bias. You're subconsciously ignoring all the threads where people complain about Survivor Stuff.
-
I like how y'all are acting like this will magically stop all DC's. Sure, they'll probably go down in a noticeable way to someone like Peanits looking at the stats, but if y'all think you (as people that get salty when someone DC's) are going to notice any sort of difference at all, are sorely mistaken.
Even the knowledge that someone else is having to suffer, because they ruined your game, is only going to last for so long, before you're back to getting an anger debuff every time you can't complete a challenge do to a Disconnect.
-
Yea, probably, but I usually play the killers that benifit from having a bunch of Survivors really close together, and I haven't bothered unlocking Surveillance yet.
-
If the "smart" survivors aren't doing gens the whole time it's up, it's done it's job.
-
High Skill Cap Killers are just M1 Killers to 90% of the Player Base.
-
Now what's your advice for getting these emblems, if you can only get matches against Survivors that are way better at the game than you, and you take forever to find a match playing as Survivor?
-
I'd like to see the stats for how massive an increase in Bills happened, as soon as he was made available on consoles. Never see a match without a Bill, any more.
-
Some people only saw half of season 1 of Stranger Things, so they hate Steve.
-
From my experience, Killer DCing at the last second, shouldn't stop you from getting any progress on those Challenges. It'll make you lose your items, sure, but everything else shouldn't be effected (unless the challenge was to escape alive).
I think think that's like Server Issues or your Internet messing up.

The problem is that you can't look to every reason people DC/Hook Suicide:
People will DC/Suicide for any of these:
Don't like the Killer
Don't like Killer's perks
Don't like the map
Don't like being found first
Don't like being 'camped' or 'tunneled' even if they are not camped or tunneled.
Don't like being pulled off a gen
etc. etc.
As long as they have a 'legitimate' way out (Hook suicide); they will do it. For all the same reasons they DC. And almost every reason is self-entitled BS and 'Well, I should not have to play a match I'm not having fun in'.
Hint: Yes you should. It's called good sportsmanship. You stay to help your team. Do you see quarterbacks in football stomp off the field & refuse to play if they get sacked too much? No? Because they have sportsmanship.
When you log in, you're making a commitment to NOT be a complete douche. This means:
No cheating. No griefing. No abusing glitches.
NO RUINING OTHER HUMAN GOD DAMN BEINGS FUN. THIS INCLUDES NOT DISCONNECTING/SUICIDING LIKE SCRUB BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE <X> KILLER/PERK/MAP
So yes, you CAN force people to play a match, because they don't matter more than the OTHER 4 people playing, and they should not play AT ALL if they are going to act like a toddler and ragequit, regardless of HOW they ragequit.
People who ragequit, be it DC or hook-suicide, are nothing more than selfish, entitled a-holes who DO NOT CARE about anyone by themselves. They are NOT the type of people who should be defended or encouraged in any way, shape or form. They are the type of people who RUIN GAMES for everyone else.
Yea, no. I don't get payed as much as a quarterback to play this video game.
-
I just don't play Survivor enough to get any good at it.
-
Bad form to force players to just turn off the game or restart their PC/Console if they gotta' leave a match. Even when it gives people a way to be a goober about getting downed at the start of the match or ending up on a map they don't like. And I'd imagine that'd be against compliance standards, for Console Releases.
Also, this solution to "just go afk" if you get called away on a business thing (and I mean the people that actually have life come up on them), and leave your game running for who knows how long while you're doing who knows what, like, totally ignores that people in the real world have electric bills and that's just selfish of you that you think people should have to pay extra just so you don't have a bad experience in an online game.

Man, this post is really making me want to use my prayer beads, for some reason. Can't put my finger on it. Hmmmm....

you dont get it right? they nerf all the time useful perks thats the point.
BL was my main perk and just because of the stagger reduction, DH is not working
Lithe and SB is most of the time useless.
but yeah.. biased people will not get this.
i can imagine what would happen if BBQ gets nerfed, everyone would cry and say "devs are survivor sided" blablabla.
Why are you making up situations that would cause Killers to scream "Baaaa, Devs Are Survivor Sided!", when we just had two very powerful killers nerf'd and the Forums exploding in people saying that very same sentence?
-
The plan they have to deal with it, won't work until Dedicated Servers are live and functioning. That's why it is taking so long.
To implement a solution now, would take time away from that project, and probably be horribly rushed and accidentally ban you for nothing, because of course it would.
-
No Mercy for the weak. Especially if I'm gonna have to do these silly Archive Missions if I want a cool hat.
-
You don't visit enough online forums, if you truly believe this is the worst in that regard. Like, this is nothing.
-
I hear the husk is quite tasty, if you eat it. That probably won't be changed.
-
Did you not see the Survey up there, asking about crossplay? In a crossplay world, old event items are Locked Exclusives based on what’s you play game on.
-
I mean, there's a fourth possibility, that this is a teaser for the next Archives, though I guess it would be a little too early to tease that sort of thing.
-
Good thread.
Definitely gonna do this Stake Out strategy. Was just gonna try to do it raw, but if I can cheese it to take out some of the hassle, Imma do it.
-
Oh boy, we drinking that Kool-Aid so hard, that even suggesting some free imaginary nonsense money that costs the studio literally nothing to hand out to people, is just the Biggest Entitled Cry Baby Thing a person could do.
It wasn't all that long ago, that we used to laugh at people who were overjoyed to get fifty cents worth of compensation in in-game cash, when things went something went wrong, but those people seem almost miserly compared to this thread.
-
There's hecka' Survivor Smurfs on PS4, as well. It goes both ways.
-
Callmekevin is a YouTube Person.
He plays a lot of Sims, and Jim Pickens is a character he has in Sims 4, who's just an unrepentant murderer and business owner.
-
Add Kratos to the PS4 Version of DbD or we Riot. 😏
-
Please go find a video of Torulf Jernström's Let's Go Whaling TED Talk thing, and stop being such a Mark.
Seriously, if you're still using these same arguments after you've watched a Mobile Game CEO explain how to get his player base into believing these, to get the most amount of money out of people, you're just as bad as someone trying to explain how Magic Tricks are real, after watching all four Masked Magician Specials.
-
Calling it now, Barb is the Survivor.
-
Was there really enough Positive Feedback in those Surveys you sent out with the question about "Battle Passes," to ignore all the very Negative Feedback and potential backlash?
-
Probably brain damage. I don't see how else I could forget how these mechanics are used, or be unable to relearn exactly how they're designed for some really scummy stuff.
I'd also need to lose my empathy, for anyone more susceptible to such tactics. That's gonna take some changes to the way my brain works.
Then there's my knowledge of the entire history of video game monetization practices. Gonna need that erased from head, because it's never "Just Cosmetic" for very long. 2016-2017 needs to go, or I would remember the short road from Overwatch to Battlefront II.
And my brain does not currently work in a way, that I could or would excuse a company's actions, just cause they need to make cash somehow. Why not in a way I find super gross? Who am I to judge them? I mean, how else are they supposed to make money, without doing this sort of thing?
-
The "Free Line" isn't there, because "Oh, Good Guy Dev just wants everyone to have Content, even if they can't pay." It's there to ensure you're looking at the Battlepass Progression Bar, and seeing everything that you're not getting right now, but could get, if you're just spend a little bit of money, honey, we got your disease. Jungle, welcome to the jungle. Watch it bring you to your shun n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees. Uh I, I wanna watch you bleed.
And buzz off with this "Oh, you're just repeating what that YouTuber said," Nonsense. Just because someone else said something, doesn't mean the idea is wrong. And it isn't like all you people saying "Oh, Battlepasses Are Actually Good" aren't all parroting each other, as well.
-
I'm not sure that would help much. Her skin tone underneath those cloths will still blend in pretty well, unless she's wearing some colorful undergarments. Still, I will support this plan 100%.
-
@T0xicTyler said:
Everyone is so whiny in this game. People are accusing the devs of being greedy and now suddenly have a problem with the skin and game prices so let's be clear: You got this game for a steal! $20 and 2,500 hours in and counting is a very, very good deal.
I'm all for some sort of season pass under two conditions:
- We can get exclusive skins, Bloodpoint and XP boosters, and Auric Cells out of it.
- We can either purchase this pass on a seasonal basis (every 3 months, preferably not every in-game season) or purchase it once and earn enough Auric Cells from it every season to re-purchase it and still profit.
It's not whining to say you're not okay with predatory business practices. That's just being a smart consumer.
-
I dunno, Killer being able to unhook Survivors would be pretty good tech for getting more points out of an AFK Survivor. Can't always trust someone to help you out by unhooking that dead weight. I for one welcome this Meme Update.
-
Usually, when I get a string of Garbage Killers who try (and fail) to Facecamp super hard, I assume the ######### convention just let out, and they're all looking to blow off some steam with some Casual Murder. Or that whatever bracket I'm in, in the rankings, is full of trash people.
But if you want to take the fact that all three of them were playing Legion, as some sort of sign that All Legion Players Are Toxic, I guess I really can't stop you.
-
But... like.... the people saying it's going to be a Nerf and are unhappy about it.... aren't the people that are gonna be mad if it turns out these changes somehow magically make The Legion a Powerhouse. The community isn't one single person. It's a group of completely different people, who all have their own things to complain about.
-
I mean, we already know Freddy a BIG rework, but Legion will be one of those much smaller ones. Maybe later Legion will get something bigger, but for now it's gonna be a small tweak to how it works. The most I would expect is changing what Deep Wound do, but I could see it being smaller than that.
-
Killers that camp and tunnel that hard don't actually care about getting points. They're just there to kill people. You DC'ing does nothing to them.
-
Break into their houses when they're not home, and break their headsets. This is the only real way to deal with them.
-
Yea, you're right. They should wait longer before they try to change things that are obviously broken. And once you've backed down from the obviously broken thing, don't bother to try to find another solution until at least a couple months have past. It's just Unprofessional to try to do anything in a timely manner.
-
Cry, because it's almost always happens when I got that Ritual for unhooking people.
-
Increasing the punishments for DCs or making them happen sooner or whatever, really doesn't do all that much to stop a person from DC'ing. Like, that doesn't work to stop people from committing actual crimes, it's not going to work in a video game.
-
A lot of people who didn't have very long wait times before the matchmaking was changed, started getting matched up against people they had no chance against. The new matchmaking did nothing for them except make the game just suck to play. Why wouldn't they complain?
