How about we just do away with this whole unenjoyable charade every two months and concentrate on the problems the core game has, not just create even more?
-
Had a few things to do, so queued up for killer. Got in after 12 minutes surprisingly, played for a minute or so, then the game crashed. An absolute shambles.
-
Just had this happen on a farm map in a match I was just in in 2v8.
-
I've never been a fan of 2v8. I'm back playing killer on normal mode but am constantly getting matched with seemingly beginner survivors, probably because matchmaking has been widened. We should not have two weeks of this. I get there are some people that enjoy 2v8, but 2 weeks is way too long (and going on the last two times, it'll get extended.)
It should stay as an occasional mode that last for a weekend only. Two weeks+ of this yet again is absolutely crazy.
-

It definitely wouldn't have been my first solution, but I hope it at least cuts down the queue times for killers. I did think the bots needed more improvement to their AI. If the devs didn't do anything different, and just put the same bots that were in 1v4 into 2v8, you could be looking at 2 dead weight teammates as survivor basically every time.
Queue times are the same as ever, the bots don't have improved AI, and they are deadweight. The mode is dead on arrival. How many survivors are going to want to play this for 2 weeks? It's absolutely terrible!
Bots not mending against Legion, the mess up heals, they just stand there t-bagging. It's one huge mess.
-
Played it for an hour and I'm sick of it already. Not worth queueing for 20+ minutes to play killer, survivor is boring already. This watered down trash is what we ruin the game for for over two weeks yet again? LOL
-
I sat there in a killer lobby for over 15 minutes whilst I washed the dishes. Didn't get in to a game. Gave up.
Every survivor game has had two bots and they really don't cope with Legion very well. Already seen two not mend. It's utter trash. As I fully expected.
Done the first three challenges and have absolutely no wish to play on. Bye bye DBD for two weeks.
-
I've witnessed bots doing idiotic stuff. Beyond stupid things.
Most recently I was on hook with everyone still alive at 4 gens. The bot had glitched out and was slow vaulting backwards and forwards over a dropped pallet, where it stayed constantly doing so until the killer found it a bit later.
Alsi I've been sandbagged so badly by a bot that the killer felt sorry for me and let me wiggle out of his grasp while he stood still. Happened on blood lodge. I was running a Wraith through the main building and the bot slow vaulted the window and just stood there not moving and blocking me in. The wraith just tunnelled the bot afterwards and let everyone else leave because the bot was so bad.
Also countless other bot "moments".
Now imagine this with two killers running about. Will be absolutely awful. Do they even know what to do vs a Legion?!
-
@BorisDDAA said:
This will backfire. 2 bots + mending simulator with legion.
The two times we've had 2v8 so far, it has got boring for me with too little variety in the gameplay to keep it interesting for more than a day.
Legion is one of the most boring killers for me and chuck in bots as well, it looks like a train wreck waiting to happen, a complete disaster in the making.
Bots from the start of games is the way to kill this mode stone dead.
-
It won me a game the other night. Was doing a very old tome challenge on Grim Pantry where you have to use all the Huntress perks and one other and either get 4 kills or no exit gates opened, can't remember which one.
Was using Bubba and was chasing someone around on the top of main building. They were a tricky to catch survivor and I managed a hit at the pallet as bloodlust kicked in. They dropped down so they underneath the main building in all the netting and stuff down there. Briefly saw which way they went so I gambled and went around to the small bit with the lockers in and managed to drop down right on top of them, probably giving them a massive jump scare.
They instantly DC'd!!!!! It won me the game and challenge got completed be a use of it. Feels good when a perk that is rarely used and nobody expects gives you a pay off like this.
-
It's not in a great state right now. Had a short day at work yesterday so hopped on yesterday afternoon for some games. Four games in a row the first survivor caught killed themself on hook. In one of those games, against a P100 Wraith, he bled the me and the others out after body blocking me in by a chest for a few minutes. Could see him going backwards and forwards on the other guy for the entire time.
Didn't hook anyone even when everyone was down and Unbreakable had already been used so wasn't in play anymore. What do these idiots get out of doing this? And the amount of games rendered pointless from less than a minute in is a real problem.
They kill Wake Up because it is apparently a selfish perk that you would see maybe once a month, yet game after game after game is killed by the 4% mechanic being not used as intended in the first minute to completely destroy matches. That makes no sense at all and I wonder what they are thinking at times.
-
It literally means nothing. I don't bother slugging the 3rd survivor unless it's for an adept or the odd tome challenge that requires it. If they get hatch, they get hatch, who cares? If they open the gate then, oh well, it's still a win for killer. I'm not dragging it out for an extra 5+ minutes and making someone waste their time on the ground just so I can see an animation I've seen several times before.
The game is already won for killer, lost for survivor, let's get into another game rather than messing about and wasting everyone's time.
-
Not interested in the game being trashed and borderline unplayable or 2-3 weeks. Yet again.
Will be time for a break. Survivor is fun for a day maximum with the lack of any variety caused by the loadouts and facing the same killers over and over every single time. Killer is pointless waiting 15 minutes for a game.
Survivor being fun for a day is also probably going to be wishful thinking this time around, especially if it becomes mending simulator and half your team are bots. Couldn't thing of anything worse in DBD.
Events and modifiers started off OK, but now it just makes solo queue unbearable and no fun whatsoever to play.
-
As I expected, played this evening and I'm not saying solo queue was a paradise but it's the first time I've really played after Chaos Shuffle finished, and as I suspected might happen, with one mode, everything felt a lot better. Managed 50% escape rate from 8 games but there wasn't a single hook suicide, games felt close and winnable even in defeat. Most fun I' ve had across those 8 games in ages.
It just seems whenever there are events or modifiers on, the quality of solo queue absolutely plummets. Was dreadful during Chaos Shuffle, the Christmas event and the last 2v8, probably the worst quality matches I've experienced in over 3 years of playing.

Did they immediately kill themselves on hook?
Today I haven't got many people killing themselves when I was solo-queuing. Just the two dcs against Singularity on Forgotten Ruins and someone killing themselves against Skull Merchant (lol).
Oh yes! I've barely played survivor since. It was just getting silly at that point. Going to try again this evening with the new tome and see what happens!

Real "babies" playing this game
Every 5th game I play as Victim, I meet some god-awful Killer, with default skin, that get absolutely dunked on. I've played this game for a few years now, and I never stopped seeing obviously new Killers.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3878419#Comment_3878419
10 or 11 is a bit heavy-handed. Probably every 4th, max 3rd, games of mine have somebody offing themselves on hook. It happens, but no way more than 50% of the time.
I played 5 games one afternoon a couple of weekends ago when the weather was bad. Would have played way longer as survivor, but all 5 of those games the first person killed themself on hook. I switched to killer.
It isn't that far fetched, believe me!
-
How many games did the first person caught instantly kill themselves? My guess is 10 or 11.
-
Play in the UK during the daytime and there's a decent chance you run into a Knockout slug build, normally someone copying Tru3, but often not very good at it.
Otherwise it's normally a Billy on a smaller map that knows where all the survivors are and just goes around insta downing if he can.
-
What I do see is grabbing survivors can be weird. Yesterday I was doing an interrupt and grab a survivor tome challenge. Chucked together a Wraith build with perks like Trails of Torment, Unforseen and Tinkerer and went for it. Very quickly I got a sneak on a survivor, it started the grab animation, gave me the challenge complete notification but the survivor somehow ran and it cancelled the grab even though the game had registered it.
-
Somehow making solo queue not be totally miserable to play would be a start. But how you achieve this with survivors going into games intent of killing themself as soon as they are caught and games being a total mismatch way, way too often, I really don't know.
The next 2v8 is going to be a mess with queue times. I'm barely touching survivor at the moment and certainly won't be waiting 15-20 minutes for killer games, so that'll be 2-3 weeks off the game for me.

Slugging is a problem that the devs themselves created, instead of giving the killer an incentive to want to hook a survivor, they just keep nerfing all the generator defense perks. I don't blame killers who think slugging is more beneficial.
It's a combination of both gen defence nerfs and constant increase in powerful hook related survivor perks I think. This would be another another hook related thing. The amount of hook related perks killers don't have to worry about and flashlight/pallet/flashbang saves is what makes it a powerful build. And that's before the amount of time walking to hooks.
But yeah, balance is totally out now.
-
It would help solo queue but definitely not the right time to introduce it. Would be another thing to push killers even more to stopping hooking and just slugging everyone. We are way too far down that road already without this taking us even further.

Fun times
Pretty much what every game is on Chaos Shuffle. Just constant camping and tunnelling, and maybe throw in a dash of slugging as well. It's non stop this evening. Trying to play this in solo queue as a survivor at the moment is genuinely an awful experience.
I get it, you don't have your usual meta perks, but at least try and make what you get work? That's the whole point of the mode but unfortunately it's turned into absolute crap.
-
I think if that survey came out now, even in 6 weeks or so, that have passed, it would get very different answers and results on the slugging related parts, or at least it would on the UK servers. It has increased massively in a very short time.
-
I would add, however much of a smart build it is from a killer point of view, it is obnoxious to play against as a solo queue survivor team without the perks to combat it. Will be interesting what happens with this going forward.
-
I wouldn't use the build when I play as killer, I don't really want to play like that, but I can completely understand the build and for a killer who's channel USP is basically going all out to win against as higher level of survivor as possible, it's actually a very smart build.
It completely eliminates Dead Hard, DS, Off the Record, Kindred, StB, Baby Sitter, Resurgence, Borrowed Time, We'll Make it and a lot of other perks, impacts all exhaustion perks when running from gens, saves a lot of time for chasing and defending gens on the larger maps such as Red Forest, eliminates Flashlight saves, Pallet saves, Flashbangs, adds in way more gen slow down than any of the nerfed gen defence perks can whilst survivors search for downed survivors.
As things stand you stand more chance winning whilst playing like this than if you play in the normal, tradition way we are used to.
This is the reason I've not played a survivor game without Unbreakable and either Empathy or Inner Focus in my loadout for a month and have had success against it with this.
I originally can across a very similar build going against condemned spreading Sadako builds a few times before the 6.1 perk blitz and thought this would be seen more after that. Surprised its taken this long to emerge.
I fully expect a change to Knockout at some point soon just for the number of survivor perks this build denies.
-

I haven't seen knockout in about 6 months so I can speak to that. When it comes to slugging is anyone tracking their games? I'd be curious if MMR, region, times played etc… might impact how often people see this type of behavior.
I'm personally not experiencing this epidemic of slugging that so many other people are seeing. I'm really curious why is it different for me. There must be some factor why its so bad for some and not others.
The Knockout build is coming up quite often for me in the UK. Faced it more times the past few weeks than in the past three years.
Maybe it's happening more here because one of the biggest DBD UK streamers has been using it with success for the past month or so, and it renders a large number of powerful survivor perks completely useless so has caught on here.

tell me you play one side and don't know how the experience for the other side is before telling me so
Survivor is horrible in any solo queue, event or normal mode, but I do get it. I play a fair bit of killer, more often as time goes on, and SWF's and high level is just P100s making use of their unlimited syringes, brand new parts, borrowed time in a bottle, Commodious and everything else like that. This often carrying Chaos Shuffle survivors way more than the perks.
The game against a decent SWF can be as bad for a normal killer as solo queue is against a full sweat slugging/tunnelling/camping comp wannabe killer for 4 random players.
Killer are then made to feel they have to go into games to deal with a strong team and play as such, but in reality they've come up against a poor solo queue team, in which the survivors aren't necessarily terrible, they just lack communication and any knowledge of each others game and perks so it just becomes a mess of mismatches. Throw in all the other stuff like people playing on tilt often, and getting out the game ASAP and we arrive at what the game has become now.
I don't know how it will ever change now. There's just too many maps and perks and killer powers to make balancing everything completely impossible.
-
Don't worry, a lot of them are completely wrong anyway. A survivor I've barely played all year is apparently my most used and a killer I've not played barring very occasional daily or tome challenges, for 18 months is my most used last year!
Im sure the stats are from 2023 or at least it feels like it.
-
Yeah, how would it be possible to stop it? Some sort of base kit Off the Record or improved Borrowed Time? If so, then you just make SWF even more powerful because we know full well that unhooked survivors would abuse their immunity and take as many hits as possible before getting away even when they aren't being tunnelled.
-
You don't really need any slowdown against most of the Chaos Shuffle solo queue teams. The first one caught more than likely kills themselves or DC's in the majority of my games and then the rest tend to follow. Or everyone gets slugged or tunnelled and then DC or kill themselves. Either way it has made Chaos Shuffle a complete waste of time for the most part playing as solo queue survivor.
Have had a bit of fun on killer getting to run random crazy stuff. At least on your own there's no team mates to quit on you and I don't really care what happens, if they all escape or whatever, as its only supposed to be a bit of fun.
-
I've played probably about 10 games with her. The dog sometimes just disappears for ages and refuses to come back from scouting, sometimes it's impossible to send it out scouting where you want as you just either can't select where you want or it just moves to somewhere 10 metres in front of you for no apparent reason as you send the dog out. And as has already been pointed out, on multifloor maps, it just sometimes makes the dog completely lose its mind! Also have seen it send to chase and just do nothing at all.
Some games it can be a compete mess to play. Whether that's caused by ping or something server related, I don't know.
-
They were originally somewhere between extremely powerful and completely busted. New Dead Hard is fine and still good but original MFT just hurt the weaker killers without antiloop, such as Pig. Anything that discourages variety isn't good for the game.
-
I've played her a bit the past few days to get the associated trophies for her. One game you'll finish thinking that she's a really good killer, then the next you'll play on a certain map like Lery's or something against better survivors, the dog will barely function, and you'll be ripping your hair out! The dog is very inconsistent and I'm sure there'll be more tweaks in the not so distant future.
-
That map is just horrible full stop. I appreciate that the devs tried to do something different and that should be applauded, but it really didn't work.
-
Chaos Shuffle was good the first time around, I was on holiday the second time so only played a couple of matches late on the last day of it, but this time it's been awful.
Every match seems to go either:
- The first survivor hooked is hard tunnelled out the game.
- The first survivor hooked doesn't like their perks and kills themself on hook
- The first survivor hooked doesn't like their perks, is unsuccessful in killing themself on hook so goes AFK whilst the unhooker instead gets tunnelled and the killer doesn't even have to bother about the first guy.
- Someone instantly DC's leaving a bot, which in turn makes the other survivors DC or just run to the killer to die.
- Everyone ends up slugged at 4 or 5 gens.
It's got to the point that I'm dreading these events coming around. The quality of the game sinks through the floor for two weeks. I've gone back to playing normal solo queue and braving the Knockout slug builds. At least you can have a build to be prepared to do something against what you end up facing and have some chance of having a somewhat enjoyable time trying to do that.
Chaos Shuffle has become as awful as 2v8 event periods because of all this.
-
Played against the Knockout slug build two times this afternoon, both 3 and 4 man escapes. The game I just played Exponential, Unbreakable and Empathy all fully played their part. Think I prefer Inner Focus over Empathy for facing the actual slug build, but Empathy probably just has the edge in usefulness in normal matches, so am running that.
-
First game I played this morning was a Blight, with BBQ, Weave, Lethal and Deadlock. Had to check I'd gone into the right mode. The game was obviously over very quickly against No Mither, and a collection of other very questionable perks!

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for the advice guys! I finally finished it after grinding for it all day and with this achievement under my belt I've now gotten all the achievements. I did take/try a lot of this advice over the course of the day with some degree of help from these tips, so thank y'all once again.
Good news, well done!
I can't even imagine the hell I'd have to go through to get anywhere near to 100 from the 11 I have right now! My daughters PC monitor has a crosshair mode you can switch on, but even using that and grinding it doesn't appeal in the slightest.
-
Just imagine the slugging build had come around before the TotH nerf. Third Seal would have been evil if the killer could have made it almost unclensable!
-
Think on the road map, the new patch is at the end of the month, probably 2 weeks today or yesterday?
-
It's even worse on PlayStation 5, you have to do it 100 times!
I got in up to about 11 or 12 by making friends with survivors by having snowball fights during the Christmas event and high 5ing in the snowmen ect. Then when it's time to leave they normally realise what you want and let you down them and heal over and over in the exit gate for some free long range downs. You might be lucky enough in normal matches for a couple of survivor to give you a couple of hits for free at the end of matches and crawl out.
Unless you are some sort of Huntress main god, this is probably the only way to do it.
-
I'd rather face Grim Embrace a hundred times than the Knockout slugging build that in total adds up to way more gen delay through picking people up if you have the perks to find them and even more if you don't. Also the killer is way less likely to camp hooks so they get the 12 second delay, and spread hooks to get the full delay, which means they are less likely to camp.
Plus survivors are definitely going to get a chance to use their hook related perks which are completely negated by Knockout slugging.
This isn't a problem perk at present, maybe can be a touch annoying, but nothing compared to what else solo queue survivors have to face right now.

But in all fairness, if you're letting go of the gen to see the killer's aura with Inner Focus, you're letting go of the gen to see the Survivor with Empathy. Inner Focus will give the reliable intel re: which killer, where they're going, etc. while Empathy will give much better and reliable intel on the slugged survivor themselves. Think of IF as the jack of all trades, while Empathy is far more specialised for the task at hand.
Thanks! I do like what Inner Focus does against it. Hopefully the build disappears soon so I don't have to even bother protecting against it!

No, Knockout hides the red Aura. All Perks showing Survivors Auras in yellow to you (Bond, Empathy, Lucky Star etc..) work against Knockout since it doesn't give you the Blindness effect. It just hides the Aura.
The confusion I have is that when you are on a gen, Mindbreaker, which is part of this specific build going around, would block Empathy though?
-
@MrDardon said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3870204#Comment_3870204
Wouldn't Empathy be better then? It shows all injured and dying Survivors within 128 metres no matter if they're hidden by Knockout.
So Empathy doesn't get blocked by Knockout blindness? Good to know!
-
Inner Focus and Unbreakable are essential perks for me to take with this specific Knockout, Mindbreaker, Surge, Sloppy Butcher build going around at the moment. You still get a lot of decent use out of them in normal games which is a bonus.
Inner Focus shows the killers aura whenever somebody loses a health state. It also outlasts the blindness of Mindbreaker so as long as you stop doing a gen as soon as somebody gets downed, you still get enough of a look at the killers aura to know where the slug is. If you are against a teleporting or very mobile killer it may be advisable to let go of the gen a bit earlier so you get the aura closer to when the person gets downed.
Unbreakable is pretty self explanatory. Once you use it, you have to be a bit more cautious and use Inner Focus to help stay out the way of the killer for as much as possible.
Have a good few 4 man escapes against this build in solo queue now. It's satisfying as you know without it, you pretty likely would have got stomped.
-
It's like when you have to hit gen or healing skill checks for a challenge or hit great skill checks. Then you just seem to get no healing skill checks for an entire heal and can do an entire with barely a skill check in site!
Similar things happen when you use perks like Rookie Spirit or Autodidact. Or maybe that's all in your head........

I will add to this that Empathy I believe also helps to counter knockout. It reveals the aura of any survivor that is injured, through the entire map. (It’s one of my favorite perks I feel is very slept on, as you can get a lot of info! Things like where a chase is happening and when they use a pallet, or where an injured teammate is, it helps to take protection hits, and also it’s a free Claudette perk so it’s easily accessible) I’m not a fan of knockout, it’s my least favorite perk in the game. But I’m thankful for this build you suggested to try out. Thanks!
Problem with Empathy is when you are on gens you won't see it because of Mind Breaker. And by the time they are downed it'll be too late once the blindness from that has cleared. Or does Empathy still see the slug through Knockout?
The build that is popular is Knockout, Mindbreaker, Surge and Sloppy Butcher so I doubt Empathy trumps the hidden aura of Knockout. I didn't think it did?
Inner Focus allows you to do gens and still have time to know more or less where the slug is. With Empathy, doing gens is more risky, unless you constantly let go and wait 5 seconds?
-
Just played against a Spirit with the exact TT Knockout build. Was a nice easy 4 out! I've been running a build specially to counter it due to how often it's being run at the moment and it worked perfectly!
Inner Focus is the key, Unbreakable, Blast Mine and whatever exhaustion perk you want I guess. If you're on a gen when someone gets downed, you have to let go ASAP to counter Mind Breaker. Fortunetly Inner Focus lasts longer than Mind breaker so you see the killers aura. Even if they've moved away slightly, finding the downed person is pretty easy. If you've got downed you have Unbreakable. Once you've been downed you just have to use Inner Focus to stay away from the killer and keep gens ticking before you get the next rescue.
Blast Mine tells survivors what gens you're doing so if they've got any sense, when you are away from them picking up, the others have some sort of guide to keep gens going.
This build has worked pretty well every time I played against the Knockout build going around right now. Hopefully this all makes some sense!
