it does not reveal any auras, it reveals the current location of a survivor.
honestly, the only thing i'd find misleading on this is that the location reveal doesnt get updated, so the "6 second location reveal" doesnt actually reveal their location to you for 6 seconds, but the location they were in when you triggered it for a duration of 6 seconds.
... This is exactly what I asked if it was, lol...
And thus why I find it misleading, according to the English language.

I happen to have every perk on a lot of Killers.
If you list what perks you have, I can try to make a half-decent build for you.
Appreciate it, but coming up with builds is honestly a lot of the fun for me. (Which is a part of my point; I've come up with a lot of builds with perks I don't yet have.)
The only teachables I have are literally Cannibal's. And he's who I'm playing, for his BBQ farm. (I want to main Pig & Ghost Face, I think, with a bit of Billy and Krueger on the side. But I have to wait for a lot of perks.)
I wish the iridescent shards didn't have to wait for a perk to show up specifically, and wait a whole week for each rotation... :( Especially thinking about how a lot of the ones I want probably already showed up, and won't for a while.

I'm guessing you play PC only? 80% of my matches end with nothing said at all. And you could just turn off chat altogether and play however you like.
Yeah, PC. Much easier to talk trash on PC, lol :P

Well like I said, I am also SEVERELY limited on my perks. So I don't have all the desired tools to properly do the job. The ones I have at least do something moderately useful, but it's by no means a build of any sort. Something with synergy, and targeted effects according to the current gamestate's needs. It's just a collection of moderately useful vanillas. And thus, we come back to the BP grind... And while I have to try to grind BP, I'm meanwhile randomly going against rank 1 SWF's as a rank 13 Killer.
Just... not... a good time, my dudes...

lol.
Look at how long these chases take. And these are your "high level play" type of chases.
The other 3 Survivors could do 20 gens during this, LOL.
-
"Camping" is often confused with "patrolling". And "tunneling" is often confused with "attacking the injured Survivor instead of the healthy one".
The only version of "camping" that I agree with is facecamping. Where you literally stand right in front of the hooked Surv, and stare at them. But like... if they do that, it's a 1k game at best...
Whereas, why would a Killer NOT patrol a hook if they know 2+ Survivors are gonna try to rescue? It's literally math.
Survivors get mad when the Killer does anything that isn't intentionally losing...
Combined with how Survivor-sided this game is (by an offensive landslide) and DBD just isn't fun... Like, at all...

Just ignore it and stop taking it so seriously.
I had someone call me a camper yesterday so you know what I did? I said “ok” and proceeded to my next match. People are always gonna whine about something because gamers are extremely whiny. Trying to fight against it is like willing the sun to rise in the west. It ain’t gonna happen.
The thing is, we can't just "ignore it" because the GAME DEVELOPERS will listen to this, side with it (partly because of its sheer numbers), and then patch the game accordingly.
-
I don't know how Survivor actions that instigate the BM stems from me being frustrated and angry...
At any rate, thanks for the stream/advice offer, but I'm just done with this game, man. The BP grind is annoying enough. Dealing with SWF's that then treat you like a subhuman just makes it that much worse.
For whatever reason, I have a hard time just "ignoring bad behavior". This is frequent in lots of games. I tend to last longer in games where I can do something about it in-game. But in DBD, I also just feel powerless.
And perkless lol.
Powerless & perkless!
Meh...
@miketheratguy said:
I didn't watch the videos but from the summary it sounds like there was a pretty even amount of trash talking on both sides.
All I'll say at this point is that you shouldn't let the flashlights and teabagging bother you so much. It's annoying, yes, most killer players don't like it, but it's just kind of part of the game. I mean if you're going to be angry at everyone who does it, you're going to spend a lot of time angry with this game.
That said, sure, survivors saying stuff like "we reported you for camping" or "no wonder you're rank XYZ, enjoy it loser" is definitely pathetic. In my experience though it's not very frequent. You just throw back an "lol" or say nothing at all and move on. This is a weird thing to say considering that I have a bad anxiety disorder, but sometimes you just have to let stuff go. It's not worth getting overly stressed about.
It wasn't even. It was 50% Survivor BM, almost 50% neutral games, and 1 single game my BM.
I do, of course, say this as someone who believes that once someone starts the fight, anything and everything they receive during the fight is deserved, and can't be held against the person who simply responded.
Anyway, I do understand the advice to ignore. But, I dunno, it's hard for me. It's a pet peeve of mine, "People getting away with bad behavior in plain sight."
-
Ok, boys. Here it is.
The actual breakdown in regards to the toxicity of either side.
--------------------------------------------------
Ep.1:
Survivor exploited tractor zone that's inaccessible to Killers.
I said, "Please fix the game."
Ep.2:
I didn't know map, and as I learned it, realized it is the worst map for Killer.
I said, "Worst map in game? Yes."
Ep.3:
Survivors teabag spamming me all game.
I said, "Cancer lmfao."
Ep.4:
I get a 4k.
Survivor said, "You're so bad bro. Reported for camping. We all did, enjoy the ban lol."
Ep.5:
I get 4k.
I said, "GG."
Ep.6:
I got 4k, but it was frustrating. I chainsawed the last Surv as they were hooked.
I said, "Sorry for that hook chainsaw, you guys weren't BM'ers lol. GG :)"
Ep.7:
I get 4k.
Survivor said, "What an unfun Killer. Enjoy being (rank) 13!"
Ep.8:
n/a
Ep.9:
Survivor teabags at hatch.
I said, "Why BM?"
Ep.10:
I get 2k.
Survivors all flame me in chat.
Ep.11:
I get 4k.
I said, "GG."
Ep.12:
I get 2k and 1 leaver. Last Survivor teabags and flashlight spams at exit.
Nobody said anything in chat.
Ep.13:
I get 2k. Very frustrating game versus SWF.
Everyone said, "GG."
Ep.14:
I get 3k. Last Survivor hatched.
I said, "Where was it?" (No answer.)
Ep.15:
I get 3k.
I said, "GG."
Ep.16:
I get 2k. Miserable game versus BM'ing SWF.
Nobody said anything in chat.
Ep.17:
I get 0k. Last Survivor BM's at exit.
I said, "This game is so easy."
Ep.18:
I get 2k. Last two Survivors teabag at exit.
I said, "Why BM when I got 2 people?"
They said, "Cuz you're toxic."
Ep.19:
I get 0k. Frustrating game versus SWF.
I said, "Survivors literally cannot have it easier."
Ep.20:
I get 4k.
Survivor said, "Nice camping. No wonder you're (rank) 12. Get good at the game, trashcan." (He was rank 3, by the way.)
Ep.21:
I get 2k. Very frustrating game versus SWF.
I said, "GG rough game."
Survivor said, "No, not GG. You had to camp first hooks. You're laughable."
Ep.22:
I get 4k.
I said, "GG."
Ep.23:
I get 3k. Last Surv hatches.
I said, "GG. Had a feeling vent was coming." And then we talked peacefully for a minute or so.
Ep.24:
I get 2k and 1 leaver. The leaver glitched the game and I spent well over 60 seconds trying to pick them up. Due to frustration, I was completely facecamping and smacking one of the hooked Survivors.
I said, "GG, sorry for ###### LOL. But your leaver really ###### me." (I have no idea what the first censored word was, LOL.)
Ep.25:
I get 1k. Very obnoxious game versus SWF.
Survivor said, "Nice camping job." To which, I was PREEMPTIVELY typing my response, because I knew it was coming, since my experience versus SWF is that they are ALWAYS toxic.
After I called out their behavior, they dialed it back in realization. Which is better than most do, I suppose...
Ep.26:
I get 1k. Very frustrating game versus SWF.
I said, "Killers are so laughably powerless." We very loosely began to chat, and I tried to explain why all of my decisions are lose/lose. But no BM from either side. Mostly just aggravation from mine.
Ep.27:
I get 4k. Versus SWF, but not very good/experienced players. One of the Survs made me laugh out loud, so I tried to let them escape & go for hatch. They didn't care to do so, and they wanted me to hook them instead.
I said, "Jay you made me laugh, I wanted to let you vent or something. Lmao, GG."
Ep.28:
I get 1k. Was a tough one, probably versus SWF, but a GG. Survivors teabag though...
I said, "GG... Dunno why Survs always gotta spoil it with BM teabags."
Ep.29:
I get 1k. I was playing Legion for first time. And last time.
I said, "Survivors are more powerful than Killers, lol."
Survivor said, "True." (Facetiously or not, who's to say.)
--------------------------------------------------
It seems pretty obvious to me that I am not the problem in my games.
If need be, I can even write down summarizing numbers... Yeah, actually, lemme do that!
Games where Survivor(s) start the BM/Tox:
Fourteen (3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 28)
Games where I start the BM/Tox:
One (19)
Neutral games:
Thirteen (1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 26, 27, 29)
*To note: There are apparently 28 games and not 29 games. Ep.7 and Ep.8 are the same game, not sure how that really happened...
So, just looking at the data here... Literally 50% of the games, the Survivors start the BM/Tox. The rest of the games are almost entirely neutral/happy/peaceful games. In just one single game, I am the one that started it. And, based on the rest of the data, I think it's safe to say that it's a bit reasonable that the rest of my experiences has gotten me short-fused and angry??? Maybe you don't agree; maybe I'm still the bad guy, lmao.

Then instead of making porn threads or crying about camping why don't you just help killers fix those issues so they don't keep leaving the game and not having fun?
Or are you gonna make a thread too crying about long queues?
It's like the PoE community.
They chase out everyone who says the game has issues, then they wonder where everybody is.
-
01:32-01:38 – You see the Felix but waste time kicking the generator. On this loop, you don’t want to be chasing the same direction as the Felix. The reason for this is it’s the most efficient way a survivor can run the tile. Instead, you want to run that section of the wall (with the gen) counter clockwise so they can’t as easily get the vault. You also see that the Kate was here as well and had you not been kicking the gen could potentially have got a hook / opportunity to slug two survivors. As a result, Kate was able to safely get the vault and Felix gains distance. Don’t get me wrong, kicking the gen is a good decision here, but not as the first move.
Doesn't kicking a generator put it into "regression" which makes it lose more progress over time?? Correct me if that's wrong, cuz I don't actually know the mechanic too well.
If it is true, well, then that's the explanation to a lot of plays I make like that. If I foresee that a chase is going to be a long one, I want to kick the generator early on so that I'm getting some more regression done while wasting my time with Pallet Funhouses.
-
Ok. Before I get into all of this, I DO want to say...
I never claimed I play perfectly. I don't blame the game for my mistakes.
I blame the game for my mistakes costing me the match.
Like... it's easy to call out my mistakes. I'm the current topic of discussion. But who's going to call out the Survivors' mistakes? Who's gonna count them?
Survivors can make roughly 24 mistakes per game, lol. But then when I make a mistake or two, it gets pointed out as the reason why I lost.
I obviously understand wanting to improve mistake-making. But it gets too stressful when it's all the pressure on me as the Killer.
Alright, well... I'm also a bit poofy today, so... la de da.
Let's see what we got with the above post... :)
-
Whoa big post, I appreciate it, I'm gonna read it all once I'm home!
-
I was the only constant in a series of videos starring me?!? Say it ain't so!
I'm gonna get home and take down the statistics myself. You want something done right, ya gotta do it yourself.
By the way, I doubt anyone's watched much. I uploaded them recently and there's 29 games each a minimum of 10 minutes LOL. You wouldn't be done watching them if you had them running since upload to right now.
You're cherrypicking. The above poster even admitted to seeking out the chat, AND failed to acknowledge my own admittance of that Surv's niceness after namecalling me and realizing her error.
As for anyone criticizing my "mistakes," please cite episode and time stamp, and make sure I myself didn't already acknowledge my mistake in the video, please. :)
-
Of course I was the angriest person LOL. I was the one with the miserable experience, not them.
(At work, will comment and read more.)
-
I should have cherrypicked which episodes to upload instead of uploading the full story. The full story isn't getting watched and analyzed, and you're all doing the cherrypicking.
:/
-
Well, I can't link my video playlist, as it was already removed when I tried to link it this morning. "Naming and shaming," even though all I do is show footage of people's actions... (So if that's deemed as shaming, then it's admitting their actions are shameful, lol.)
SO, if anyone wants to watch, just search "DBD Sucks Ep.1" and go to the playlist if you wanna see all 29 games in order.

Yeah, if anything DBD is in power decline. Original perks, items and add ons have been nerfed heavily. I mean 5 blink Nurse used to be a thing, how can anyone seriously think this game suffers from power creep?
Because the SURVIVORS are getting stronger, while the Killers are getting weaker, LMAO.

I don't get it. You want to be able to see if it's okay to tunnel or not?
Survivor gets unhooked? Do they glow white? Don't tunnel
No glow? Then free to tunnel.
Go after the rescuer. Only time BT is a problem is when the one with BT bodyblocks, but if you refuse to hit them, they'll be in a ######### position in 12 seconds. Tho I'm all for BT removing collission
They don't glow until you waste your time hitting them and putting yourself on cooldown.......... Did you read a single thing???

imagine making excuse this long about tunneling. you could create whole essay about 12s by saying 20% of minute.
Just accept it you tunnel hard
Just accept it, you want literal free wins (and are used to getting them, thus your crying over Killers strategically attacking injured Survivors, and trying to shun them out of playing smart).
-
@Muntcuffinz said:
No.... The point is that you're encouraged to go after the survivor that did the unhooking. If you insist on tunneling them you can wait 10 seconds to be sure BT is worn off
Yes. I'm aware that both the Survivor community AND now apparently the game devs are "encouraging me" (forcing me) to go after the rescuer instead of the injured Survivor. I'm being "ENCOURAGED" to throw the game.
They want me to evenly spread out hits, and hooks, and gen damage, and yada yada yada. But this all just makes for SUPER EASY Survivor wins.
... But that's what everyone wants.
Easy Survivor wins.
I'm at the point where I believe that's what DBD's main appeal is as a video game. Think about it mathematically.
For a game to start, we need FOUR TIMES as many Survivor players than Killer players.
... But queue times for Killer are pretty... regular. Like, a minute. Because there are THAT MANY Survivor players. Because it's the easy win.
Survivor players are literally here for the feel-good easy winnings, at the expense of us total suckers that play Killer. Their entire fun relies on us Killers continuously and masochistically queuing up as the Sucker Faction of the game.
That's why, when god forbid a Killer wins a game, it is almost 100% of the time an explosion of toxic crap in post-game chat. Because they're SURPRISED. And they're not used to it. And they're only used to getting whatever they want, so they lash out like spoiled children.
When even the devs force you to play suboptimally as the Killer, what else does it take for people to realize this???
(There were a million other ways to do BT's job that weren't make this guy invincible for 20% of a minute.)

Going for an injured survivor that just got unhooked because you refuse to leave the vicinity of the hook IS scummy.
I think you are the one who is clueless here. Maybe Start counting and stop complaining.
Why would I leave the vicinity of my hooked victim when BBQ reveals zero auras 40m+ away from me, and I can visibly see, with my eyeballs, 2 Survs right near me?
Again... that's called sandbagging. Intentionally throwing. Deliberately aiming to lose. Etc.
You Survivors are SO entitled, that you LITERALLY believe that a Killer SHOULD RUN AWAY FROM YOU so that YOU can do WHATEVER YOU WANT.
LMAO!
It's absolutely wild.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
Maybe if Camping and Tunneling wasn't so prevalent then you wouldn't need to worry about those 12 seconds.
You know, its kind of funny how players complain about "It's basically a 5th perk because...."
Kind of like when survivors have to assume or wonder if killers are gonna play scummy that day.
You don't have a clue what "playing scummy" even means. You just think if you get sacced, it was scummy play.
BT, as I've said several times, is an important perk on paper. But its current iteration is not the way to have it. Whether the 12 second duration, or something else.
Going for the injured Surv is not scummy. Frankly, NOT going for the injured Surv is what we call sandbagging in the normal gaming community. (As opposed to DBD's weird community that took that existing term and made it mean something else.)
-
The point of having recordings is so that if anyone wants to challenge my claims, they can go through my evidence first or shut up, LOL.
"You're lying! But also, I refuse to watch your evidence!"
You see how that doesn't have much backbone?
I'm a true neutral reporting on the lopsided results that I see.
I've played out a really frustrating game, then after it ended, said on video, "Well it was frustrating, but they actually weren't BM'ing. Just playing the game, and it sucked for me."
After I caught myself getting mad AT the Survivors for that frustrating game.
But that is a super minority. Most games, they BM. Whether teabagging for winning, or QQ'ing and namecalling for losing.
Literally... can... prove the stats here... LOL.

So you have to play as if everybody has it… so what? As a survivor I have to play as if every killer is using BBQ. What’s the difference?
Well...... They probably are, to farm BP, lmao.
Really though - yeah, well, I AGREE. Any Killer perks that translate to the same obnoxiousness of having to respect it, which totally warps your gameplay, even though they may NOT have it (Nurse's Call comes to mind, and I wouldn't say many other Killer perks can compare to what BT does) could also do with a change.
Or, perhaps something big that would change everything. Perhaps, quite simply, you can know everyone's perks before/during the game. I HONESTLY do not think that would be bad for the game. Either neutral or good. I can only imagine some silly counterarguments for it. But no good ones. So if you got any, I wanna hear it!

I still get scared by this game, but imagine being stuck in a loop where you face killers only to wake up at a campfire to do it all again. After awhile I'd start to just do what I can to help out lol! But also, fear unlocks adrenaline; We can be scared and yet face our fears at the same time, and honestly without this type of bravery in a character then I doubt that the 'final girl' cliche would have become popular. It's rare to see a first time player take risks, so with time they become braver and face the killer for the benefit of the team which is awesome and definitely part of that 'final girl' mentality :)!!!
This post, compared to the post above it, are like... ... first of all, night & day.
Second of all, a little bit of an important element to this discussion, as well.
Grandpa has this bizarre sociopath outlook on it. "IT PIXELS. PIXELS NO SCARY. PIXELS NO HURT ME. GAME NO SCARE."
And then Wifey goes deep on the imagination with it, almost RP'ing in her head what the scenario would be like.
More of the latter would be nice among people. But I feel like more and more people are becoming the former, as imagination dies out from our species...

I play the game to have fun and it saddens me that so many people have to ruin it for others. This is the only game I ever play with others because it's fun and doesn't freak me out like other games do. Even when I play MMOs, if someone runs up to me - I run away or log off for a while. I've been camped and tunneled a lot, but I always hope for better in the next match. Not worth my time getting angry and arguing with someone.
Killers are to kill and Survivors are to survive so when done the non toxic way, there's really no hard feelings for me. If my teammates were good and the Killer was good and I was able to be of use - it's a gg from me. Even if I die.
I also have no issues farming BPs with people. Yeah, it's not the goal of the game, but it's nice to have a match here and there where everyone is just chill and helping each other.
There's nothing unchill about a game where both sides are competitively trying to accomplish their respective goals, either.
You literally said that you only have fun if you were helpful to your team. This also means that you don't have fun if you get outplayed. And I'd say this is where lies the problem for a lot of Survivor players.
DBD is a "competitive game". That is to say, either YOU win or THEY win. Both sides compete for the win. If you don't have fun when you don't do well and lose (which is different from doing well and losing), then you should actually not be playing games where two or more opposing teams are competing for the sole right to call themselves the winner.
I don't say this as a bash, but I say this as someone who has witnessed COUNTLESS people just "going with the flow" and playing various games that they really shouldn't be playing, completely based on the fact that they don't like losing. They should be playing games where you CANNOT lose. And plenty of great games exist like that.
You literally described yourself as someone who clams up when a digital avatar approaches your digital avatar in a video game. You entirely fit the bill of what I'm describing. You are not a competitive person, including casually competitive. I imagine you only play DBD with your friends, right? PROBABLY even only if it's a full group of 4? And so, I now imagine... ... well... go ahead and tell me. How often do your friends complain about camping/tunneling/etc? Would you say more than 50% of the games?
Yes.
So...
Yeah.
I see it allllll the time. And I do not understand how it happens. (Possibly just a person's desire to be a part of a group?)

-
Yes; Survivor's probably my most played? Not sure, but it's probably close anyway.
I don't even use the actual broken ######### about Survivor, like flashlights... (or teamwork on coordinated teams, which by the way, is actually statistically what most Survivor parties are)... or the good perks, cuz I don't have them unlocked...
And I STILL feel totally safe and comfortable when a Killer is chasing me. Tunneling me, even.
Every time I get hit, I feel like I really ######### it up on my end, because I had every advantage. (Or perhaps just because I didn't know a map at all, so I accidentally ran into a dead end.)
-
Okayyyyyyy guys, way to bury the message in semantics...
No, it was never a HORROR game. But you know exactly what I mean.
Survivors used to have to worry about things. They used to fear the Killer. Maybe not in an IRL-TERROR sort of way. But in a way where they respected the Killer's strength. In a way where, if the Killer was nearby, you wanted to try to hide, rather than be more inclined to literally FIGHT him because you're strong enough to do so.
I want to go back to the times where Survivors weren't literally exposing themselves in broad daylight open fields, because they WANT the Killer to chase them around circles, because they will ALWAYS be able to get away.
I know that Survivors were Top Dog even on day 1, especially with the infinites on maps. But I still feel like they showed respect to the strength of a Killer. And I feel like stealth was a core gameplay skill for Survivor, while nowadays it's like a niche curveball that you see once in every 20 games.
Nowadays??? Survivors are legitimately stronger than the Killer now. They don't opt to hide, they opt to duke it out head-on. "I'll perk the ######### out of you, Trapper!"
It's just disappointing to me. Like, I only have interest in playing Killers that I think bring the most "fear" element to Survivors, because that's the spirit of the game in my opinion. However, NO KILLER does this, because that element has been perked off the face of the earth.
Meh...
Guess I'm a minority here.

How about just don't attack the unhooked?

this is bait right? killer main mostly here who plays rank 1 solo survivor as well. Good killers are not effected by bt, it is no where near an issue like noed or keys. it is a perk to deter scummy play by killers mostly and its been kind of nerfed so that abuse is punished by good killers. Theres a learning curve and prediction involved but that does not make the perk op. It means you have to learn to play around it
Sorry, but you're not a Killer main. You might have Killer stats, but you're a Survivor Brain.
Attacking a player that's injured instead of a player that's healthy is not, in any remotely possible way, "scummy".
You definitely exposed yourself with that remark, my dude...
(No pun intended.)

I mean, Borrowed Time (BT) was created as a tool specifically designed to help counteract tunneling.
You can argue that tunneling is fine, part of the game, and necessary to a degree and I won't disagree with that. But survivors are people too, and they log in to be your opponents because they want to play the game. Being downed immediately after being unhooked is akin to saying "I've decided you don't get to play the game" and that by itself would be a miserable experience for them.
---
I also see a lot of comparisons of BT to DS, but they're nothing alike.
DS started as the most bullshit perk in existence, giving EVERYONE a free 5 second stun when picked up whenever they wanted it. This original design was the biggest middle finger to killers everywhere, as it completely negated their downs and denied them their first hook vs every survivor. It was basically punishment for doing well.
DS then evolved through multiple stages until the most recent, where it was only active for one minute after unhooking. Prior to the nerf, the issue surrounding this was that it was literally a full minute of immunity vs the killer. They could heal, do objectives, or do whatever else they wanted without consequence. The nerf turned into a healthier perk where it specifically counters tunneling, and disabled that free-roam period of immunity after each unhook.
BT in comparison is 12 seconds long, providing only enough time for the survivor to struggle for their lives if they do get tunneled. BT's sole existence is providing that 12 second period of game-play after being idle on the hook so that they can still do something. It does not deny a killer of any significant efforts like the original DS, nor provide a significant period of immunity that the recent form of DS did. It even still rewards killers with a mend status effect, and the opportunity to trade killers on the rescuer.
BT was created to encourage killers to target others and allow the recipient time to play - and it's doing its job either passively through fear or actively through its effects.
Listen, your post isn't innately bad here. You're right, as much as I cannot STAND the Survivor community in general, they ARE people too, and players too, AND they do need to be good adversaries or being Killer isn't fun.
HOWEVER, I want to say that I feel like you miss my point here. I understand why BT exists, and I even LIKE that it exists... ... on paper...
But its execution is miserable.
How does the buff being visible NOT have BT still accomplish the same exact thing??? The unhooked player still has TWELVE entire seconds of run time. That's several eternities, and there isn't a hook in the game that's more than 12 seconds away from the nearest Hitler's Funhouse of Pallets and Windows.
I am very and quite simply saying... I do not think Survivors should have a 5th Perk slot.
From the sounds of things, Survivors seem to want to keep their 5th Perk slot, and have no interest in discussing it further...
... To nobody's surprise, really...

Like many of the claims on these forums by killers and survivors - hyperbole.
When people use words like "always" "every" "almost always" "every other" etc etc etc - I just assume they are lying/being hyperbolic.
Yeah, I automatically translate "always" etc to mean the more down-to-earth versions of whatever the sentence is, like, "most of the time". I assumed that most people also automatically translate it, but that's not the case.
However, the translated versions are also untrue, in regards to the topic in this thread...
And - everything else aside - if you're even getting tunneled/camped as often as you say... maybe get better at the game???
Survivor gameplay has been SO EMPOWERED over the years, they're basically Kryptonians standing out in the open, fists on their hips and chests expanded proudly, just WAITING for the Killer to dare challenge them to a chase. They got 100 pallets, 200 windows, and 300 flashlights all primed & ready. 400 stun & escape perks, by the way. The Survivors are MORE POWERFUL than the Killer these days.
... And so, they've totally forgotten how to even play stealthily. Which used to be this game's roots...

The thing I REALLY don't get is the "tunneling" accusation. I think this one MOST speaks volumes about the mentality of these Survivors.
If a Killer is actually tunneling someone, there is a reason for it. A strategical reason for it. But instead of seeing it that way, these Survivors must think it's, like... because it's THEM. Like, this Killer knows WHO they are, and want to PERSONALLY tunnel them just because they're out to get them.
It's the most psychologically... disturbing accusation, to be honest. It literally implies that they think there is a deep, personal reason that a Killer is focusing on them, and not simply because they're on their last hook, are injured, are really close, and nobody else is even around. The gameplay reasons for the focus fire is completely and utterly mentally blocked. It is a personal thing.
Somehow.

Is it really that hard to count to 12 after an unhook...?
Found the Survivor player.
You'd probably say the same thing if it lasted 100 seconds.
"You can't count to 100?..."

What was/is DS?
-
Yes, exactly.
I just wish everyone could have fun playing a game as two opposing teams trying to reach their respective objectives.
I equally hate games that devolve into "friendly BP farming exchanges". I want BP, but not like this. I want to play the game, and that is not the game. It just becomes a total waste of my time, even if I get 20 zillion BP for it. (Ok well, I'd happily take 20 zillion BP, but hey.)

That's the problem you have - you assume that my "grind" was a bad thing. I enjoyed (almost) every game I have played since I began 4+ years ago. I enjoyed leveling characters and seeing their teachables on my bloodweb. I enjoyed playing the game with limited and then new shiny perks. Maybe stop assuming what I, and everyone else in turn, finds enjoyable. Do I think certain things could and should be done to lessen the "grind" - yes - like tier-less perks. That alone would make perks appear MUCH faster and save players a ton of bloodpoints. But No I do not think every perk should be unlocked at level 1 and just appear like they do in custom games. You can stomp your feet all you want, and decry the game/players for the "Sunk Cost Fallaciers gatekeep DBD" but I can guarantee your "I Win" demands will never be implemented in this game.
Side note, I want you to think about how you translated "TGB gets all the perks" into "TGB wins".
Maybe you're gatekeeping power, instead?
You don't want everyone to be on equal footing because, as you've just subconsciously revealed, you translate that into you always losing.
(Don't get mad at me, you actually literally just Freudian'd that.)
At any rate...
Tierless perks would... would that literally cut the grind into being 1/3? That would be quite sufficient, yes. Something like that is definitely acceptable to me.
As I keep saying: I just want to be able to play the game. I don't want to have to grind it to the point of hating the game before getting to play it.
-
Yes. Exactly.
"Since I began 4+ years ago."
I EXACTLY addressed this.
So - you grinded it out alongside everybody else. Yes, that literally makes it INFINITELY more tolerable. You're playing against other people still grinding it out, because the entire playerbase is still grinding it out.
Let me put it in different terms here.
A person who makes a WoW character alongside everybody else when a new server opens up.
-THEN-
A person who makes a WoW character on that server 4 years later, where every zone has max level Rogues corpse camping lowbies.
Does that make it click???
One of these guys will say, "I enjoyed leveling up, it had some annoying parts [clips of person engaged in various 1v1 fights of equal levels] but overall it was great!"
And the other guy will say, "Leveling is miserable, what am I even supposed to do? Can I get some dev intervention or something? There's no way the game was designed around this."
And the first guy loops back and berates the second guy for "being bad" or what have you...

I didn't consider it a grind. I enjoyed playing and unlocking every perk. Would I be upset if they got rid of perk tiers - no not really. Aside from that I don't think anything else needs to be done about "the grind." What's next - asking for Bloodpoints that can be bought so you can level each character up and get those 6 pages of perks??
Yes. Why not? Why are you constantly trying to gatekeep the game? Literally ask yourself that. (You'll find the answer is because you feel like others should have to go through the bad thing that you did.)
A lot of people saying they just "played the game and enjoyed it and ended up unlocking everything". I wonder how many of those people are saying this because they did it very early on in the game's existence, and were thus grinding at the same time as everyone else, following the general curve of everyone's perk gains. (As in, opposed to someone grinding today, where every opposing player(s) have maxed perks (and are all a 4stack if you're Killer), while you have either nothing, or the very basic perks that don't even remotely compete.)
As a side note, I want you to keep in mind that basic-ass Survivor perks are WWAAYY better than basic-ass Killer perks. Just as a little extra note here...

Idk, I don't think custom games are as fun without the BP gain. I enjoy the core gameplay of DBD, but I also like the feeling of progressing when I play. If you don't have fun when you're focusing on BPs, just don't! Play the game however you'd like.
FWIW 1.5 mil BPs for rank 40 is an overestimate. Granted, it's somewhat up to the player how cheap their levels are, but I usually bank 950k-1mil before I prestige and most of the time that gets me back to level 37. I think level 40 is probably 1.1-1.2 mil.
I totally agree that the grind is absurd, though. I have all but a handful of licensed survivors and killers unlocked and I still have a lot of people to prestige. Most of my killers are P0 50 or P1 50. All of my survivors are P2 50 or P3 50. Only one of my P3 50 characters has all of the perks I've unlocked, and I'm still missing the perks from the licensed characters I don't have. I have ~1200 hours (~50 days 🤮) of play time.
But that's my point. I can't play the game "however I'd like".
I'd like to play in public lobbies with full freedom to design & play certain build ideas. But I can only do that with 4 other friends involved. I can't do that in ~solo public games.
And in order to "earn" the ability to do that, I have to farm for like a year, legit. And it won't be fun doing so, either. I have to truck through a year of unfun gameplay in order to play the game how it is intended, designed, and balanced around.

You're not wrong about the party game aspect. It's just that... I dunno, that's why I kind of avoid party games. I get the concept of "pure chaos, just have fun," but I like games to have an objective, with skill matchups being the obstacles. Not something like, say, Mario Party, where you just randomly give another player 100% of your Stars, or something like that.
DBD is already Survivor-favored, so it's just extra annoying when I'm a perkless Killer and I'm going against Day 1'ers with everything unlocked, spamming flashlights and having pristine comm teamwork. (Which, yes, I am facing way more than you seem to think I am. I REALLY wish I recorded my games last night, cuz it was pure misery... Gonna start recording from now on.)
